So you know even though we're reviewing last night I'd like to start with old school Bill Parcells. Mike Del Tufo you remember when we first came on the air 22 years ago on NFL Network 22 seasons ago. NFL Total Access. Boy did we have a nice segment every single time Bill Parcells took to the microphone in Dallas. We called it fresh tuna. There it is right there from 2003. There's your guy from back in the Dallas early aughts days and we all know him obviously from his time with the New York Giants and the Patriots and the Jets but the reason why I bring it up is I learned a lot of football phrases listening to Parcells.

Yeah. Okay and the Monday Night Review starts with two Parcells isms that I heard and that is you are what you are. A lot of people say it's the you are what your record says you are but he just went you are what you are and you're like I can't believe my that my team's record is this or players would be like I can't believe we started filling the blank and it's like hey you are what you are and the other phrase I picked up from Bill he would use whenever a rookie did veteran things or grew up right before your eyes he used the phrase he dropped his huggies. That's what he would say and last night the second overall pick in the NFL draft a lot of people said he was the most pro ready quarterback of all the quarterbacks being drafted this year the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels dropped his huggies in front of everybody on Monday Night Football last night did he ever this kid last night when everybody thought okay the Bengals are owing two again and they'll just do what they always do which is start digging out of the hole and they'll do it on Monday Night Football but the loss at home to the Patriots was just a malfunction not a feature and Dan Quinn brought his team in to Cincinnati and number five took to the field and did something we've never seen a rookie do in the history of the National Football League 21 of 23 we always do the math for you here that is 91.3 percent accuracy yeah hey listen anytime your accuracy rate matches potentially the number on the dial your fans can listen to the games on 91.3 that's good that's a rookie record rookie record he was 21 of 23 he missed on two passes for two straight games now the uh Washington commanders have not punted two games in a row no punts two games in a row all of last night's um all of last night's drives ended in either points on the board or a kneel down yeah a victory formation a little disrespectful to the punters of people movement i understand that but listen when you've got a rookie look at the other rookies in the league right now starting um you want to be disrespectful to your punter if you can and and it's not just you can't say well was he just checking it down he made all the throws and when he wasn't throwing it he was carrying it and he was a problem he was a problem you didn't know when he's rolling out if he's going to keep it or throw it so the defenders are kind of caught in between and other guys who are like that in the league we saw one later on or during the same thing during the same window and josh allen we saw one in dallas and lamar i'm serious that's that's the problem that jayden daniels is seeming to present just three games into his into his tenure in the nfl and then how about this one you want to talk about throws yep i understand his first touchdown pass was to a tackle eligible and trent scott dancing is one of my favorite moments already of the first three weeks this season i really needed that b rob td big man touchdown you gotta love oh got it oh b rob got one and so did eckler before he got knocked out of the game and on the ground and daniels got one too on the ground as well but this is the one final drive of the game joe burrow has already done what he needed to do which is get the bangles back within one score and jamar chase is doing his thing by the way how about that as well jayden daniels and the washington commanders absorbed a 41 yard touchdown strike from burrow to chase to start the game and you thought maybe the boat race was on and instead they just methodically moved down the field and tied the game kid wasn't phased in the jungle and chase scores again it's a one score game again and what the commanders do is just start a nine minute drill you know and they were trying to run the clock out best they can but here we were with the drive that started at the nine minute mark now here we are with 210 to go in the game it is a third and seven it is on the cincinnati 27 yard line and it is staring everybody in the face that if the commanders don't pick this thing up they kick a field goal and burrow has a shot to tie it with a two-point conversion by the way the reason why they need the two is because another pass interference call in the end zone wasn't called just like in atlanta the night before that said it's all on the line and jayden daniels threw a perfect ball to terry mclaurin who must be out of his mind right now that his rookie quarterback could make throws like that one and the throw that he made to mclaurin earlier in the game for 50 plus yards and can also run it and can also stay calm under pressure and can also be accurate to the tune of 91.3 percent part of the 91.3 percent last throw of the night for jayden daniels was this gorgeous dot it was beautiful and you know listen to him after the game you're even saying to him hey you just won uh on uh on monday night football you just sent joe burrow and the bangles to oh and three and winning the battle of heisman trophy winning uh lsu quarterbacks jayden does that surprise you here is his answer third game in the nfl that level of success does any of this surprise you um i mean yeah yes and no um yes because obviously it's something new to me um as i continue to dream in my rookie year but uh also just knowing the aspect no i put in the work um and what's done in the dark will always come to light so i just know that i'm prepared for these moments week in and week out i'm just gotta go out there and play football execute yeah yeah that's what i'm gonna do i'm prepared again he and michael pennix jr were being discussed as the most pro ready quarterbacks in the in the draft this year and sure enough what we saw last night i understand it's early it's very early but commanders fans you gotta sit here and think well did we just hit the jackpot in the quarterback draft lottery did we just do that do we do we do we have this really happening here that's what all fans whose teams are quarterback hungry and win hungry and you know desperate to stop getting kicked in the nards needy all wondering when they choose a quarterback first overall second overall third fourth fifth overall whatever did can we possibly get the football gods to drop into our laps a generationally talented quarterback let's see what happens but for this night for this night you are you saw a pair of hoggies dropped that didn't look like a baby that looked like a grown ass man who is a problem for opposing defenses and has everybody in that building believing did you see terry mclaurin's reactions on the sidelines too because he was doing you know there is no connection between these two guys of significance through the first two games i'll be honest with you i'm always going to be straight up with people here dan quinn love having him on this program he came on last week we asked for terry mclaurin as well and um we were told that terry wasn't up for talking because he hasn't done anything yet he's that type of veteran you know and you got to sit there and go am i dealing with another rookie am i breaking anybody in i'm sure he's he might not be thinking that because he sees the work being put in that jayden daniels was referring to but you could see him going yes yes yes yes i have got a guy who can put it in my hands and i will make plays you want to give me those give me those chances and i will cash them he is that type of receiver we focus on all the other ohio state kids this is kind of the og right now in the league from columbus i i mean and you got the guys who can run it oh again they're just two and one but that was huge you got to sit here and if you're a commander fan and go did we just hit the jackpot yep and then let's just talk about the bengals here you are what you are you're oh and three you know you're oh and three and cam taylor brit could talk all he wants about that's a college offense well that was a heisman trophy throw then if that was a college offense right jamaar chase saying that we're the team to beat in the afc we just got to play like it you know but they are what they are i thought they were division winners this year i thought burrow coming back would be the mvp of the league he had a he had a statistically very nice night but defensively they couldn't stop jayden daniels and if they can't stop jayden daniels you know what they're gonna have a problem with amar jackson you know what i mean like you can extrapolate it out justin fields they're now three behind the steelers and you could sit here and go okay that's a get-right game at carolina before last week really ask the raiders how how right they got their coach after playing carolina was talking about business decisions being made by their some of their unnamed players on the team and then they do have a home date where they're going to be and then they do have a home date with lamar and at the giants on a sunday night at cleveland right after that which has been their annual achilles heel but cleveland hasn't been any great shakes so can they dig out of it sure and joe burrow we're in the mode and you'll hear this later on from from trevor lawrence quarterbacks who of teams that are oh and three looking for silver lining and talking about those we're marathoning and not sprinting unlike jacksonville burrow has shown an ability to lead a team to almost the promised land we'll talk about jacksonville later on but this was burrow after the game we're not happy with where we're at uh but by no means is the season over we're on three there's 14 left to play uh we just have to continue to get better and you know see where the the cards fall in the next you know 10 weeks whenever the buy is so we just got to go into to this week preparing to get better and trying to get a win that's all you can do 324 and three touchdowns by the way very good and andy dalton was the only other quarterback with a stat line like that all season long over 300 yards and three touchdowns so it's not i mean it's not on him yeah i know right those two quarterbacks play each other next week unbelievable defensively they just you know my my statin island friend lou anna rumo's got to walk in that room and say let's look at each other in the mirror yeah and let's stop talking about what the other team's offense looks like collegiately or not or we you know we're gonna we'll take zaver worthy route all he does is run straight lines like let's let's look in the mirror that's the other thing parcells the man in the glass remember that that that poem he always read about the man in the glass look in the mirror and take your stock because you are what you are i'm sure there's a lot of guys walking around saying what's happening to us right now the good news is is i still believe there's the guys in the room in there their kicker's got to stop missing field goals right i mean they lose by five there's a miss field goal and then the two-point conversion that they should have had straight up at the one yard line so there's the if butts and candies and nuts but you are what you are and last night what the what the bengals were were the second best team on the field with a young quarterback who in front of the whole nation dropped his huggies that was our monday night review still gonna believe in josh allen here and then they lost matt malano again and i'm like that's just too many it's too many and i started to think to myself maybe this is the dolphins here so far 247 yards and four scores by halftime and was also doing his running thing up the middle sometimes when nobody was expecting it even his own guys he's just they're pass proing and he's running right through them and the train whistles my god get going and everybody at night beautiful night of western new york and then the the moment that i'm i'm imagining just set everybody off into a complete and utter frenzy when trevor lawrence air mailed an open receiver and hit damar hamlin right in the three and damar hamlin playing in his first monday night game since code reading on the ground in cincinnati picks it off for his first career interception get out of here get out of here in front of those people that had already seen a huge first half and giving them what they wanted which is to see josh allen on offense again before halftime and the jaguars were probably screaming uncle enough enough and i i said this early on in allen's career nobody in this league you know usually rivals my homes for relentlessness and will sucking ability to just take it out of you take it out of you quite like josh allen i mean obviously my homes is is is who he is and i bring it up because these two guys are we're gonna talk about them i think right like we talked about brady and manning for years correct and we just you know hope for all the bills fans in our lives and we've got two big ones here on our studio every day and liz wailed and the man who always as you watch our show seems to have the photographs of every possible bill ready upon the mention of the word buffalo okay our coordinating producer mike hoskins who gave us even this drop of josh allen being told that they don't have a super bowl type offense a couple years ago three years okay and that was his response okay and then everybody's saying well you don't have one this year for sure because nobody's around anymore and i'm sure you know this would be in his okay in her monologue this thing was over by the first quarter it was toast it was finished you could see the way the jaguars were playing you could see that they were just ready they were playing like the old cheap suit folded straight up we'll talk about them in a second but give the bills their flowers because right now they are playing the best football in the national football league in the afc too i mean i'm sure vikings fans will say did you see what we've done i'm like okay i have seen it i have seen it but consistently what the bills have done since arizona hit him in the mouth is just turned put their foot in the ground and started hitting everybody else back in the mouth repeatedly and allen just can't be stopped he can't be stopped he rolls to his right you're dead you give him enough time you're dead he'll find somebody open you give him enough time he'll run it you're dead and now i mean with their running game with cook and if coleman can get started too i mean honestly they just crushed the jacksonville jaguars coming into their house desperate and the bills were the ones who looked like they were desperate they're desperate to get back out there and maybe i i don't know just make sure that you see your heart pumping in the palm of their hands if you hadn't already been well aware of it i mean like that's the type of performance we saw from the bills last night and then you see what buffalo's got next at baltimore so let's see you know that'll be another benchmark right the ravens are going to be equal they don't want to fall to one and three with the steelers now three and oh right and potentially having a winnable game for pittsburgh i don't know if we're there yet we're chalking up wins for pittsburgh just based on what we think of their opponent they're at indianapolis um at houston at the jets those are their next three all on the road no train whistles no train whistles nobody all you know spun up on broken tables and stuff like that they're going on the road to take on last year's one seed this year's supposed best team to dethrone the chiefs within the conference and then we'll see what the jets do over their next two a home game with denver and then that game i'm calling with kurt warner in london against the vikings jets will come back they get an extra day for a monday nighter at home next three we will see what the bills can do but right now what they're doing is eviscerating those in front of them and leaving them in a fetal position what did i say is off or overreacting i don't think a single syllable right josh alan we got his soundbite from last night because he just he has the air of like uh okay i saw this coming why didn't you yeah cool man but he doesn't but he's not wearing it on his sleeve to just he doesn't have the approach of you know chip on shoulder right go f off yeah he's always just seemed super calm and chill i don't know if that's kind of upbringing or he's just college you know he's josh alan you know like hey you know living life we're good destroying opponents daton haley steinfeld no yeah seems like a pretty good life yeah king of his city walking on water there's a giant face on a building in buffalo right now in buffalo i think they they think he could probably climb niagara falls with his bare hands go over in the barrel no no no no be at the bottom and just and literally with his bare hands climb up it i think they think he can do that i wouldn't recommend trying that here's what he had to say last night it's paying dividends of what we've worked on throughout the entire off season and through training camp of the everybody eats mentality and again it could be your play this play you never know when it's going to happen and that's that's the beauty of it when guys get to buy into this and really understand like i may not get the ball four or five times thrown to me a game but the one or two times i do i'm going to have opportunities to be in the end zone and you know it's it's a it's a fun and wonderful thing when you had a bunch of guys that don't care about the stats they don't care about the touchdowns um and again i think throughout practice we've just had this mindset of like hey let's just do things the right way and find ways to win football games that's what we're doing right now and i think what they're doing is playing without the pressure of expectation i think that's going to change again the next three games at ravens at houston at jets we'll see what they do last few years it's just like okay josh allen you got the team you got the super bowl team let's see what you do this time around everyone's like yeah we don't think he got it so we'll just pay attention to other people and all they've done is go 3-0 and i think they're playing well with that and i can't wait to see the next three weeks it's set up man just when you think the bills are out they pull themselves back in well they're gonna have some motivation bills are underdogs this week there you go okay right that's the that's the that's the that's the drop okay okay there you go strikes me is that the new is that is that the bills 2024 mantra yeah okay that's it okay real simple real simple that's their mantra wow you don't think we can do it okay okay they were more than okay now then as for the jaguar fans hold on hold on hold on as for the jaguar fan i know you're looking for something anything to hang your hat on i'll give it to you the performance was so bad last night oh bad well that this is a positive metric at least your coach flew back with you on the plane okay there won't be any videos of doug peterson coming up so that there's that that's how bad it was they had plane issues it didn't take off till 1 a.m but the coach was on the plane with them right okay yeah didn't stay around hanging in his own bar that was bad i know you're feeling like this is bad but i will cape for doug because i love him it's not good right now it's really bad right now i understand i understand but it really is on it's on the quarterback here the defense didn't do much either and i don't know what was going on with the defense sometimes i think even at one point because i was listening to the westwood one feed uh ross porter was saying where where's eloacun he wasn't out there where some some of their best defensive players were off the field sometimes i don't know what's going on were they benching guys last night were guys hurt i i don't know and you you met josh hinds allen you know he's a warrior you know he's one of those guys that for him you know how he wakes himself up to get in the hyperbaric chamber i don't think he's waking himself up i don't think he can go to sleep right now so you've got some guys on that christian kirk's another guy i love that guy he's a guy that just will not rest there's a bunch of guys in that team i don't get it you know i i don't get it other than the fact that you know when you're owing to and your owner says we've got the best team we've ever had here and it's time to win and you go oh and three that's a problem for everybody because the owner's not going anywhere and certainly it's a problem if the quarterback has just been signed for 55 million a year and he's suddenly skipping throws to open receivers and air mailing other ones right in the arms of damar hamlin just when you need the calm cooled demeanor unfortunately for them the 2022 chargers didn't walk through that door after that first half that thing was a wrap it was over he looked nothing like the first overall pick that i was drooling over when i thought the jets had a chance for him and he's got a look in the mirror and i know that there's it's a team sport man you're getting beat up pretty good i understand it's a team sport and i i i don't mean to lay it all on him but that's the way it goes in the nfl pardon me and there were some throws he just had to make he just had to stay on the field you couldn't get josh allen back out there again when it was just a hot knife through butter and it was awful defensively you know you know i don't can the d coordinator grow a bigger mustache to to because i i would i would grow a bigger one i mean i don't mean to make light it's just i'm i'm i'm just saying to jaguar fans that you might sit here and think you know we don't have the right guys you do and and and doug peterson i think knows he knows his football i i have no idea what the hell's happened you got doug peterson after the game okay hit it it's not for lack of effort or trying and all that i just think that sometimes you just have to get out of your own way right and um we just keep digging ourselves in a in a hole early and and can't seem to dig our way out of it you know especially you know as one-sided as this game was today i'll tell you this no one's gonna feel sorry for us right i mean we this is who we are right now and and it's not very good right and um we have to be honest you know with ourselves and and i've got to be honest with myself and um just keep keep plugging away i mean it's the only thing you can do right i mean what else are you gonna say he's not gonna throw anybody under the bus and he's not gonna leave the team alone on the flight home i'm sorry to keep bringing it up but i've got to just put it in perspective of what it used to be man you know i also don't take pass up too many of these opportunities here's what trevor lawrence had to say after the game years ago though man there's enough blame to go around for everybody i think we're all accountable enough to to own our part of it but you can own it but you got to do something about it you got to go play better um so i got to be i need to play really well for us to win that's the nfl quarterback has to play well every week um to give yourself a shot to win and you know don't feel like i've done that consistently enough so you know i put that on myself and um i got to play better first of all it was three years ago chris wasn't that that long three years ago and then yours is forever in this week i understand that but you also have to put in perspective of what it was and then the first year when doug got there and then it was really they were the one seed in the middle of last year and then trevor lawrence got hurt and he's he hasn't won a game since and whatever they whatever magic they found to make the playoffs that first year and whatever they had in the beginning of last year i mean it's got to still be in that room that's the way i'm looking at it you have no other choice but to look at it that way because you're not firing the coach but we make so many excuses for trevor lawrence well and i i literally just laid it all at his feet i know i'm just saying it's just he's the first overall quarterback of this team and he can't be skipping throws and he can't be airmailing throws and you can't keep throwing out in your your defense back out there when josh allen is coming for you like it's they went for a few times they made a few fourth down conversions but this is why you don't pay these guys you make them prove it this is why you make them prove
