We'll have a conversation with you before we get out of Dodge on this Monday, talking a lot about March Madness. Max Homer joined us as well. Talking about um TGL golf and So much more. But one of the items, other than March Madness from the weekend, that certainly caught a lot of people's eyes was the. Um, the flag football classic that Fanatics held downtown in BMO Stadium, which is where uh the flag football Olympic competition is going to be held in 2028.

And yeah, so much made of the star NFL players that were playing flag football, and many of them bawled out. But the only winners were Team USA, the actual Team USA for flag football, and the quarterback for that team, Daryl Hush Dussette, is here on the Rich Eisen Show. How are you, sir? I'm feeling great. Wonderful, man.

Thank y'all for having me. I appreciate you joining the program here.

So. What's your takeaway from the weekend? Yeah. Honestly, it was probably the best week leading up to the game of my life. Those guys treated us awesome.

They treated us as peers. You know, shout out to Fanatics, OBB, the USA, national team, staff, coaches, everyone. They just treated us amazing. And within everything, they treated us as peers. And I think off the field led up to the much more enjoyment that we had as a team on the field.

When you say treated you as peers, were you talking about the NFL Pro Bowlers and stars and Super Bowl winners that were on the field, Daryl? Correct. The players to the coaches, just within, I can only speak of my experience, but you know, I'm a diehard Saints fan. And being around Drew and Kamara, of course, and I'm an LSU fan. You know, we had Joe Burrow, Jaden Daniels.

So being with those guys and meeting Sean Payton, Sean Payton, when I go to introduce myself to him, before I could even get words out of my mouth, he said, Who man, I've been watching a film on your team all week. I have to watch about 20 games of you, man. You're amazing. And he was like, You're from New Orleans, and you know, I love New Orleans.

So just within that interaction with him, made my weekend amazing.

So you were blown away that he was watching your film and your tape. Yeah. And him and Coach Shanahan as well. He kind of spoke the same thing. Those guys obviously knew each other.

And it was like, oh, flag football. We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. It's much different from what we do on a day-to-day basis. What about your interaction with Tom Brady? Yeah.

Oh, Tom was amazing as well. Of course, we had the FaceTime. I was kind of nervous speaking with him over the FaceTime, but he's so competitive. Even when we were on the field, I had a little banter back and forth with Tom just to ruffle a little feathers, but it was all fun and games, and he showed his competitive spirit out there. Hold on a second.

You try to ruffle Tom Brady's feathers, Daryl. You did? Hey, we felt like, you know, it was our territory. It was our game.

So I kind of, as he, you know, the rules are different.

So he was kind of arguing about the rules, and I kind of just wanted to agitate the guys a little bit because that was my fun. And, you know, just being in the atmosphere with them. A lot of my teammates know I'm like that at practice. I like to just have fun. And if I see you upset about something, I try to just get under your skin even more, even though this probably meant more to me than it did to him.

At the end of the day, it was just all fun and games with everybody else. Oh, of course, of course. But I do have to ask: what did you tell Tom Brady? Like, how did you try to get in his. Grill.

I mean, it was just him arguing with the referee. It wasn't nothing out of the ordinary, but I was just like, more so. Stop fussing with the referees and things like that. Like, come and play football. We came to play football, not argue with the refs, and stuff like that.

It wasn't nothing. Don't crazy in a case. Did he shoot your look? What was his response? Yeah, he didn't like it.

It wasn't pretty. I said it wasn't pretty. I bet, I bet. But again, you know, this is your territory. It is your territory.

It is your sport or your version of it, correct, Daryl?

So let me ask you: how is it different? How is it different? I think from the get-go, when we were at the draft party, everyone seen the difference within those guys versus us. And some guys asked our coaches like, wait. All of your guys are pretty much under six feet.

And that's not that we meant to do it that way. That was just how it ended up happening. And you know, when we lined up at the draft party next to those guys, I think Ashton Jency might have been the only guy that was around 5'8. Everybody else was much bigger than us, especially like strength-wise, you could tell the difference. And Kevin Hart, the first thing he said was, Oh, these guys look fast.

So you could tell like the body type is a lot different, but when we stepped on the field, we kind of showed our speed, our agility. We kind of get low. They were a lot more physical with us. And we thought that them trying to pull out flags was going to make a difference in the game. And it showed, you know, we had Velt.

He made some amazing moves out there. Nico made some amazing throws. Our receivers ran great routes. The defense, you could tell that they were together out there about us catching some of the pick sixes and getting stops. I actually thought we played a lot better than I initially thought going into those games.

Do you feel, Daryl, that you proved that you should be the representatives for the Olympics and no NFL players current or past are necessary? To win a gold? Um, I'm not gonna say that. I mean, everyone wants to win goal for our country, but we just didn't want to be overlooked. We didn't want the names to overshadow the guys that's been playing this game.

It was never NFL versus uh team USL versus flag football players. It was more so like, let us get our opportunity, let us get our shine, and let's compete together. Let's strengthen each other. Meaning, all the flag guys could help the NFL guys with things, and the NFL guys could help us with things. It was never about them versus us, and I don't plan on it even being like that.

Like, those guys, I thought I would have a lot of negative things to say after the weekend, and all I could think was all the positivity, all the positivity that those guys showed towards us. If you don't mind me asking, why would you your guard was up to see if they would respect you as athletes, as performers? Like, what, what? I don't mean it infer, but what what what Why was your guard up? in that regard.

I think just leading to everything that went on from twenty twenty four and some of the comments that I made, the media, the way they portrayed me, the way they portrayed some of my team, it just was looked like we were uh scared to go in competition with those guys And those guys from the get-go, when they met us, they talked to us, they treated us as peers, they treated us as one of them. And we just want our lane to be our sport. And hey, if you're going to come and play flag football, treat it as flag football. Let's not go in it thinking that it's NFL tackle football. Let us stay in our lane with it being flagged football.

So if you step in the flag football field, let's not worry about tackle football.

So it's just different sports, and that's what we want to keep it as.

Well, I guess, again, listen, and I say this coming from a spot where, again, I love having you on here. And by the way, Daryl, who's Douset here on the Rich Eisen Show, from the NFL's perspective, it's an important part of the football world: flag football. Part of that is because it is football and it's a way to get fans interested in the sport. Another way is to get kids out there.

So, folks view this as kids are playing it.

So, these guys are playing a kids' game. Which you could say the same thing about tackle football, right? But I'll give you the floor on, again, what makes it different and yet still so. Um serious That it is a skill level that you and the rest of your team USA teammates. uh are good at I mean, from the get-go, the physicality is a lot different.

We'll start there. It's not a physical game. It's five versus five, nine contact. It's on a 25-yard width field from the back of the end zone to the other back of the end zone. It's 70 yards, 50 yards from end zone to end zone.

So that right there, the field and how many people makes a difference. Another thing about it is we can't jump when we have the ball. We can't stiff arm. It's flag guarding if you stiff arm or if you try to run somebody over. It's going to be illegal contact on the offense.

So the things that people are accustomed or trained to do and tackle is different offensively. The quarterback either has seven seconds to throw if they're not being, well, seven seconds to throw no matter what. But if you're being blitzed and you get sacked, I mean, that's the defensive part. They're seven yards back, blitzing.

So the quarterback don't necessarily have seven seconds, but. If Let's say they're scrambling around, they will only have seven seconds to scramble around in the backfield. Also, the quarterback can only run.

Well, the quarterback can never run.

So, if someone gets under center, or whoever gets the snap at first is labeled as a quarterback. If they give it to someone else, Now they're eligible to run unless you're within five yards of the end zone.

So those are like different things that offensively that they had to learn. And defensively, I would say the Rush is seven yards back and you can't jam. You can't really hold and wrap up.

So the physicality is one of the main differences.

So let me say it then. I mean, just hearing that and watching it as I did this weekend as well. Um To be able to play instinctively you have to know this stuff cold. Right. Yeah.

And so if you don't know this stuff cold, You Maybe not play as well as somebody who knows this stuff, Cold, like you and your teammates. Because at the end of the day, that's what the best team to be putting out there for the Olympics would be. Does that make. Sense? I mean, I definitely agree that you have to know what you're out there doing, but it's so much talent across the USA.

Right. And it's only continue to get better over time.

So it may be some NFL guys that make the team, make the tryouts, but they have to be dedicated to the time that they're going to put out because it's going to be a lot of talent that's going to be competing to get on that team. My spot is in promise. I have to try out every year. We actually have trials next month in a few weeks to actually make the team to go to Germany this upcoming summer.

So it's a repeated cycle. Everyone is going to continue to get better and better, and we have to stay on our game as well. When does everything start to try and make the Olympic team? For you. In 2028.

In 2028, we don't know the exact details of the way things are going to be run at that time. But all I can say is I know what we're going through. What's the cycle right now? I don't know if things are going to change at that time, but I'm going to continue to go out and just worry about self and give my 100% and control what I can control. Do you want to hit the Mahomes thing?

Here? Because again, I think that's what you're referring to before, right? about what you said about Mahomes or I'll give you the floor so you can explain because I I think everyone re you know, when they'll your name comes up, it's like you said that you're better than Patrick Mahomes as a football player. Or no?

Well, within that interview, they only took a quote out. And what I truly was saying was: if me and him stepped on that field today, that's how I felt. And the person that I am, if you haven't done anything that I've seen with my own eyes or if others seen, then I'm going to feel the way I feel. And I felt like me being a team USA QB, you have to come and show me that you're going to take my spot.

So that was the take on it. But what I initially truly meant was by y'all just giving a name. They shouldn't automatically just be able to come and take our territory from us because of the names. Like they got to come out and learn the game. And I think that was part of our mission as Team USA was to go out and compete with these guys and to show that we're just as talented on this flag football field, even though we know they are the greatest athletes out there.

And if they took the time out and learned it and everything else, yeah, they probably would put 12 or 10 guys on the Olympic team from the NFL, not taking anything away from. any of those guys. But I was just speaking upon myself. I know what I bring to the game. I know how long I've played the game, studied the game.

And I just wanted my fair opportunity. And I spoke out for all of my brothers across the globe that flag football is different. And we just want an opportunity, not only to go out and show our talents, but to share the same space as well. It's not them versus us. It's flag football, its own lane, and NFL, its own lane, two different sports.

And let's all come together as one and go out and wing goal together. All right. I like it. Yeah, you're clapping over that, TJ. I mean, great answer.

I'm with it. Awesome. Before I let you go, is it true you're better at bowling? Yeah who? You are better at bowling than yourself and flag football.

You're better at, like, you're like, if. That you're a better flag football player than a bowler, but I am uh I am I think I'm a pretty uh decent to great bowler.

Okay, uh, go ahead, Chris. Go ahead. Could you beat Mookie Betts at bowling? Let's do it. Let's do it.

What do you think? You know what? Honestly, this is the first time I've actually spoken this into the media. I would love to do like one of those celebrity games. You know how they had like a truth bowler, a professional bowler, and then like a.

A star. I would love to be a part of that. And yes, I think I could be Mookie Bettis. There you go. There we go.

We get Hoosh, Mookie, and Chris Paul. Let's go. There we go. Drone Bettis. I think she's.

Wasn't T.O. one of the bowlers that normally take part of it? Maybe it seems like T.O. could do anything. How many 300 games have you rolled?

Honestly, I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I know it's double digits. Wow. We'll take it. All right. Last one for you, Daryl.

What would it mean to make Team USA for the Olympics? What would it mean for you to be in a procession for an opening ceremony? uh representing America for flag football. I think that's the bucket list. I've been checking off a lot of things lately.

This past weekend, I never would have thought that would have happened.

So, being able to add that to my bucket list and check it off, the Olympics is the pinnacle. I think that's where I would retire at. And just say, hey, call that career, it's a great time, but Um, I think that's the pinnacle holding up that gold medal, representing flag football. Um, I played it since I was a little boy as a child, seeing that the sport is in college, and hopefully, it's a professional sport. Um, it looks like it's going in that direction, and I'm just glad I'm able to be a part of it and witness how great uh this sport has been taken off across the globe.

Well, you and I and this show are officially connected, so we'd love to keep in contact with you and follow you on your journey over the next couple of years. I appreciate twenty twenty eight. It's in two years, and I'm going to continue to get better year by year, focusing up on my upcoming trials until twenty twenty six in Germany and then just continue to improve from there.

Well, at the very least, Daryl, you've survived telling Tom Brady to quit crime. You survived that. Did I sum up your commentary? I'm not going to let you put words in my mouth now. I just told him to leave the referees alone.

That's all I say. Let's play football. Yes, you were supporting officiating. That's correct. Thanks for the time.

Appreciate it. Congrats on the weekend. That was awesome, bro. That's Daryl. Yes, sir.

Your team USA flag football quarterback right here. Tell Tom Berry to quit crying. That had to feel so good for him, man, to go out there and out like the most forgotten. This is great. And we had, again, we had Michael Rubin here, and kudos to them, whoever I think of the story he told.

is when this event got moved to Los Angeles. Right? That let's, you know what we're going to do? Let's have the players, the star football NFL players. Let's have Team USA.

And then Team USA shows up, they bawled out. I just love hearing that he said that they were treated like peers. Yeah, that was how cool is that?

Somebody from Louisiana is being told by Sean Payton, man, I'm watching your film. You're damn good. Like, that's what it's all about. Yeah, you could tell. Freaking cool.

And it was the best introduction to the world to have the NFL players kind of help elevate these guys. There you go. All right. Pretty dope. All right.

Now we got to get Mookie Betts to bowl against him. I mean, I got that going for us. That was awesome. You know him, so you can make it.

Okay, yeah. Yeah. And you know Jerome Bettis, Mr. Picker.

Well, Bettis, I can get that done. That one I could get done, like today. Let's do it. Let's have a rich eyes in celebrity bowl-a-thon. Celebrity bowlathon.

Yeah, we'll raise money for charity. There you go. And then who shall come in and. Dominate that too. And tell Tom Brady, quit crying.

Stop rolling gutter balls, Tom. Let's get Jerome on. Don't know how to play Bowen? Don't you know how to bowl? Stop rolling.

I'm going to stop putting words in his mouth. Get him in trouble. I don't want to do that. By the way, that accent was so cool, too. And by the way, at yo underscore everything is how you can follow Daryl Duset on Instagram.

We take a break right here. Mark Normand is about to join us. The comedian. Let's have some fun with him coming up next. Mm-hmm.

We're back on our radio, terrestrial, coast-to-coast series XM. We just saw a clip of None Too Pleased available now on Netflix, the new comedy special. And marknormancomedy.com is how you could see this man on his mumbo jumbo tour dates later on this month. Portland, Maine, Providence, Rhode Island, then Lexington, Kentucky. Mark Norman is here on the program.

I'm going to bite on this one just to start, sir. Saints and Knicks fan, what is that all about?

Well, I'm from New Orleans.

So that's your Saints.

Okay. Who det-we won the Super Bowl?

Okay. What is that? Oh, 2010? 2009. 209.

Yeah. Yeah, right around. We did it after Katrina. It's all downhill since then. We lost Drew Brees, but now I live in New York for about 20 years, and my buddy Sam got me into the Knicks.

Well, Sam Morrill. Yeah. He's been here on this program. You do your pod with him. Exactly.

We might be drunk. And he's gotten some. He got me in with courtside seats. Oh.

So that's. Once you do that, you can't go back. It's like blue chew, you know. You know, well, I don't know about courtside scenes. By the way, the facial hair, the buddy, are getting pretty delfy.

Oh, really? Yeah. I had no idea. You're a hunk. You're like a professor who sleeps with students.

You're looking good. I feel I could fill in on Steve Curl's new TV show. Rooster. That's it. Yes.

You're watching this. I've seen all the billboards. I'm staying on Sunset.

Okay. Nightmare. They're keeping me up. It's like coming into my room. They are everywhere.

I agree. And they're all very bright.

So the Knicks are. What? What do you think? They are having a good run right now.

Okay. All right. And is Sam Sam he got the court side seats, huh?

Well, yeah, you can hit your agent up. And that's how it works. Yeah. So I think when he signed with them, he was like, I want Nick's court side. Right.

And then I'll sign up. And they were like, all right, we got you. Right. Well, I don't mean to get you all riled up, but these guys have met you. You guys have all met before.

Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's, you know, Mark, he came out and he said, nice to meet you. We've met before. We've all been shirtless. But he says that to people.

He doesn't. I do that all the time with people that I feel like, you know, I've met before. I shouldn't. It's not that he would reflect. You just give you the hey-yo.

I mean, we've been shirtless together backstage on the Arizona State campus a few years ago with Bert Christian. Oh, there it is. There's the photographic evidence. Wow, that looks like January 6th. Jesus.

Well, except I'm there. Hell yeah. Jeez, I don't remember that at all. That's a while. Yeah, Nick Gillis there.

Yeah. All right. Wow. Dave Williamson, yeah, that was a wild ride. We were doing the arena a couple shows in Phoenix.

Yeah, yes. Right before the Super Bowl. Yes, exactly. And then the Eagles lost. Because Bert didn't know.

He gave like $500,000 for tickets and he wasn't sure where they were. Right. Yeah, he bought tickets for his whole crew and he had no idea it was costing him $120,000. And then he didn't. And then they're like, we'll send the tickets to you, you know, two days before the game.

He bought them side unseen. Wow. I know. It's a price of being an alcoholic. Although he's sober now.

So he's back. Yeah. He's back. Looks amazing. He's got abs.

I know. I saw that. I don't understand what's happening right here. Might be Ozippic.

So you know each other. That's right. Like for five minutes. Good to see you again. Shared some beers.

Yeah. Did you know Heineke was there? Who else? Gabe Davis. Gabe Davis.

Yes. Yes. Good times. Do you remember that or are you just saying that? I remember Gabe.

Well, he's a hunky, cool dude.

Okay. And these guys are a dime a dozen. You're like background actors. You show me Gabe Davis or McCaffrey.

Now I'm on my knees. That's right. Yeah. Did you go to that Super Bowl? Were you one of the crew?

Yeah, were you part of the seats? I went, yeah, I went, and I was with him. With him? With Bert.

So you were in the seats that he didn't know he bought side unseen. I guess so. And they weren't bad. They weren't bad seats. Uh-oh, he went higher register.

You know what higher register? They weren't bad. That's it. That means you don't really believe them. I would say middle, middle tier.

They weren't floor. They weren't nosebleed. They were in the middle.

Okay. But I'll take it. It's a Super Bowl for speed sake. Yes, you will. Yeah, I'll take anything.

I've eaten all your snacks. How'd you meet Bert? How'd you cross paths with him? You know, just comedy. We did a European tour together back when he was in the height of his booze.

We puked at a couple airports, I think in Copenhagen. I mean, he's scared of flying, so he drinks extra to get through the air to plane. And, ooh, you know, we're all over Europe just yakk in random. Random Cities.

Okay. You'll get to know somebody that way. We got close. Yeah. Saunas and same bed.

So do you started your career in New Orleans? Is that what it was? You started doing all that stuff there? Yeah, I started Comedy New Orleans, which is like. It's weird, it's this entertainment town.

It's music, it's booze, it's bachelor party, it's Mardi Gras, but comedy doesn't work there.

So I had to get out. I went to New York after about eight months of doing stand-up and got mugged three times, got bed bugs, the whole city tries to spit you out. Yeah. But now we're good.

Okay. And now you're doing your comedy is somewhat dad-based or anything like that, or a little bit more than it's ever been before? Of course. You gotta evolve. You gotta go with what you know.

Your child is how old right now? 14 months. Yeah. By the way. He said before during the commercial.

I heard this. He's a year and two months. And I thought, wait a minute, you thought you had. one kid 'Cause normally you'll go, Mike, I've got kids who are one year and two months. I was trying to do the math.

How did you actually pull that off? Right. Uh and then I'd realize you were talking about one single individual. Yeah, well, it's a little thing we call neglect. I'm here.

I should be changing diapers, but I gotta make money. I gotta provide. That's right. Yeah. That's what you gotta do.

Yeah, but I worry my Jamaican nannies with my kid more than me. I came home, his first words were Yaman.

So I'm worried he's gonna get on a bobsled team or something. But yeah, I gotta get back home. How, what's his name? Uh we went with Adolph. I didn't see that punch coming.

That was not telegraphed at all. Neither did Rihanna. Wow. Okay. Oh, but it's early, huh?

Oh, my God. It is early. It's always too soon for that. For sure. Seriously, what's his name?

Please say Adolph again. That would be funny. I feel weird because. Oh, you want to mention?

Well, the people attack the boy on the internet. Oh, and we don't want that. They're cruel. A 14-month-old? I know.

What the hell? I don't show the face either. I don't do that much. Oh, that one I understand. Yeah.

Like, you don't. Do you post your kids publicly?

Well, actually, some of them have been, all three of them have been on the show. What? That's adorable. Good for you. Thank you.

Who turned you down? Cranston? Yeah. You had to pull the kids in quick? Yeah, I did.

Pull the slot? I just had to throw them in here, pretty much. But no, yeah, but I understand that. 14 months old? That's terrible.

All right. I know, it's crazy.

Okay. The internet is cruel. Right. And so your Saints, where do you think we're going with them?

Well, I can't it's an abusive relationship, not to do a callback, but I just I can't get too invested 'cause they they break your heart every time. But I love 'em.

So do you still follow them at all or no, not really? You're out. I sense you're out right now. I do one eye open, check the score and I walk away.

Well, they they could turn around. You never know. That's what they say every year. I know. But I love them.

But yeah, it hurts. We miss Drew. Who was your favorite saint growing up when you were in? What was his name? A Bear?

Yeah, Bobby Abear. Bobby Abear was the guy. Right. And he sounded the part. He sounded like, you know, the Water Boy.

He's the real deal. Yeah, exactly. He sounded just like the Water Boy. Yeah, real Cajun, a little CTE, but we didn't know what it was back then. Jake Delome as well, same thing.

Oh, yeah, well, he was a Panther.

So, we might be drunk. You with Sam Morrill, how'd we come up with this podcast idea?

Well, we say silly things, we shoot off the hip, and so we said, let's call it we might be drunk.

So, if we ever get in trouble, we can just blame the alcohol. That makes sense. Yeah, like Justin Tibberlick. And. He was drinking and me and Sam now sell a whiskey.

Oh, really? Yeah, bodega cat. It's a rye.

Okay. Yeah, it's it's cooking. It's really selling. Why do we call it that?

Well, because we're New York guys and we got the bodega, and everybody loves a bodega cat. You walk in, you see them sleeping on the bread. Oh, it's oh, I see.

Okay, so you're naming it off of the animals that normally are in bodegas in New York City. Yeah, it's kind of a weird city cliche, and we everybody loves seeing the cat there, so we said, hey, that makes you happy, so does alcohol.

Okay. And then the more successful, the closer to half court these courtside seats are going to get in Madison Square Garden? We're doing courts right now, but that was Burt. Those were the bad seats. No, I know that, but your court side in Madison Square Garden is just like.

That's all the agents.

Okay, like look out, Jimmy Fallon and, you know, Ben Stiller might suddenly be kicked because Bodega Cat is crushing it. I was sitting next to Ben Stiller a couple days, or not a couple, a couple of weeks ago. We did Jimmy Fallon. There's a photo on my Instagram. If you pull it up, I have proof.

With Spike Lee's out there, Jon Stewart, Shalamu. It's a good time. Shalamu. Whatever his name is. The guy who hates ballet.

I forgot his name. He's a real fan, at least. He's a real fan. You know what I mean? And he's from Manhattan.

Like, he travels with the Knicks. They're in the playoffs. Is that right? Yeah, man. Whoa.

Yeah. What is he? They don't call him. They don't call him Shalamu for nothing. I guess not.

I don't think they call him Shalamu, as a matter of fact. I could have something like that, but he had a tough go at the Oscars, I'll tell you that. He did indeed. None too pleased. It's available right now on Netflix.

Why'd you shoot it in Colorado?

Well, I'd never been to Boulder, and we sold a ton of tickets there, believe it or not.

So I said, let's just shoot it there. We have more chances to get it. All right. Get a good one.

Okay. And that's available right now on Netflix, Portland, Maine, Providence, Rhode Island, Netflix, Kentucky. You'll be back for the Netflix is a Joke Fest. Hollywood improv. I just saw Jeff Ross just announce Kevin Hart's going to get.

Roasted. I'm trying to get on that puppy. I would love to get on that dais. Let's do it. Well, hey, talk to the Jews.

But yeah, watch the.

Well, there's one in particular named Jeffrey Ross. Oh, yeah, that's true. You must know Jeffrey Ross. Oh, we go way back. Yeah.

Jeff, he's got a special coming out, I think, in a couple weeks. Yeah, the Take a Banana for the Ride. Thank you. You're on it.

Well, you baldies stick together. We do. Yes. Yes. I actually saw that when he was performing it at Netflix is a joke two years ago.

Whoa. Oh, yeah. I saw him off Broadway, sir. Jeez. Oh, yeah.

Come on, Jeff. You got to write a little more two years ago. Go to marknormandcomedy.com for tickets and dates on seeing you're at the Hollywood Improfit. Netflix is a joke festival on May 5th. But great to see you here.

Please stop by when you're back in town again, bro. Rich, you're the man. Thank you. Please watch, or I'll be working at the airport soon. I heard they're hiring.

They are indeed. I think they could use you right now. None too pleased available right now on Netflix at Mark Normand on Instagram. We're back to wrap up this show in just a matter of moments. The Rich Eisen Show, the podcast.

All right. Um opening day is Wednesday. Yeah, I got my fantasy draft tomorrow night. I'm going to have to choose that team. You know, as Coop and I always surf into a public league on ESPN.

Now it's the first time we'll do it where it's. Oh yeah. We're a part of it now. Do it. Ah, that's Wednesday.

Let's do this right here, right now. Which team lasts longer in the playoffs? Of all of ours? Yes. Is this Jamote getting the Dodgers?

Jamoque is not getting the Dodgers. 100% I am. No, you're not. No, you're not here all the time. You don't count.

100% I am. No, you're not. 150%. No, you're not. Yes, I am.

You're not a Dodger fan. I'm sorry. I. You've been a Dodger fan for a year and a half. That doesn't count.

Yes, it does. O'Shea will back me up.

Well, then you're not invited. Then you're not invited. Because I would not throw my hat in a ring against the Dodgers at all. Why would I? They were the best team last year.

The Blue Jays came as close to anybody as knocking them off. Because they could put the ball and play, and they also threw. split-fingered fastballs like demons and the Dodgers clearly show that they could be you know, beaten. And if it wasn't for a toenail here or a ball that gets stuck in a A wall there. and a brilliant button push here and there by the manager they would have lost.

But I'm Who's lasting longer? Yankees. Red Sox, Yankees or Mets? I gotta say, the socks. All right.

Not surprised. We're all gonna pick our own team. That's correct. Yeah. So you're not.

Who are you taking? Which one of our teams would you take? You take the Yankees. Yeah. What about them has pro has shown you that they can do it?

That we've got a better pitching staff. I'll tell you that. Is Garrett Cole healthy? Yes, he will be. Yeah, he should be.

By May, by May, I think he will be back. Schlittler, Freed, Cole. Your pitching staff is filthy. That's what I'm saying. The pitching staff is better.

The starting staff is better. Crochet might be the better out of all. Your number one's not as good, but overall, I think you're probably better. What about your closer? Who's your closer?

Yeah. It's Bednar. Bednar. I mean, it was the seventh inning guy for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Great.

Okay. Bednar, listen, I don't need your rail birding here. You're out. You're out. You're out.

You're not a Yankee fan.

So you can't sit here and even defend the Yankees. You can't. The dual hats are going on now. The dual hats going on. I think your concerns the last few seasons are still pretty big concerns.

Yeah, because they've run it back. Yeah. Yeah. They've run it back. If they had somebody, if the Yankees had somebody like Stephen Kwan at the top of their lineup.

It would be insane. Ducks on the pond for everybody else. Yeah. But there's still a strikeout heavy home run, all or nothing. Like, I can't wait.

To watch the Yankees every day. I love it. I love the cadence of baseball. There's nothing like it. I cannot wait to have that as part of my everyday.

Life is sitting down and turning on yes and listening to Kay and the rest of that incredible crew do their jobs. I love it. My youngest son loves it. It's like it's it's a it's a it's a you know, a hum to your everyday living that I can't. Wait to see.

But I just know. Yeah. There will be innings of walk, strikeout, walk, strikeout. Out. or walk home run, two run shot, hey.

Strikeout, strike out, hit, hit, strikeout. Like that's It's like watching the team that goes punt, punt, touchdown, punt, punt, touchdown. You know what I mean? That's funny. Team USA, very like the Yankees.

Well, that's a great. Yeah. Rallies, you can't do that every year. You can't do that every year. I mean, that was the game against Venezuela.

They got a man on base in the fifth, sixth, and seventh. With two apples. And that's That's what the Blue Jays were not. And the Dodgers? Are not But I'll still take the Yankees to last longer than the Red Sox and the Mets.

Look, the Red Sox, a lot of the stars of the WBC were Red Sox players. That's true. There's a lot of momentum coming in. They made a lot of not like splashy moves, but the right moves, I think. I think Boston's going to be there.

Well, Roman Anthony could be the Jackson Smith and Jigba of baseball. Yeah, he's going to be a breakout star. Breakout star. Breakout star. Only 21.

Good. William Breu had a great WBC for Venezuela, Masa is back hitting healthy. He played great for Team Japan. Right. But can the moves, can the sunny grays kind of pick up the spot there in the pitching staff while the young guys, tall and early, kind of like get their bearings?

What about you? Hmm. Look, you know, as a fan, you kinda had your heart broken a little bit this offseason with this team, right? With so many of the the fan favorites leaving, being traded. But what do you mean by you?

The Mets fans. Talking the Mets. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah.

So, look, man, we'll see. What's it come down to all the time? Pitching, obviously, right? Peralta, that was great. Happy to see him there.

I hope Clay Holmes keeps throwing it in your face since you love to talk so much noise about him. What, who? You. Talk noise about who? Shmay Schmoems.

I mean, Schme Schmoams, yeah. But now you've got Schmevin Schmilliams.

So, yeah, like, we'll see. I'd love the Beau Bachette edition. You're going to miss Pete Alonso. I mean, that's the thing. No one knows more than Brock.

I personally love Pete Alonso. Dude, let me tell you, man, if I had a name. 10 players. Who the Yankees could never get out. You know, a third of them are Astros.

Now on different teams, included, but except Bregman, Altuve. Devers. Devers, my God. Just couldn't, just can't get him out. Alonzo's one of them.

Yeah. Yeah. So I was happy to see him go, but he's now on the Orioles. That's a problem. The Yankees are going to see him more.

Yeah. Um, Which is a nice signing for the Orioles. Yeah, I think so. But we'll see. We'll see, man.

But you're right. The cadence, the daily checking in. I'm excited for baseball. And ABS, man. I know.

You don't like it. I think this is not going to be as big of a hit as the talk and stuff. It doesn't take much time out. I'm telling you, just wait till you see it in action. I don't think this is going to be a home.

I have seen it in action. And we would have seen it. Spring training is a little bit different. Again, the World Baseball Classic, all right, the game against the Dominican Republic would not have been over. Nope.

They'd have been runners on the corners with two outs. against Mason Miller. And guess what? The sun came up the next day. No, I understand it did.

But you, with your, your, you know, the umpires screwing things up. uh are is part of the charm of the sport, it is not. It is not part of the sport. It is part of the charm. It's not charming.

There's nothing charming about it. It's infuriating that you use a di I I would I would ask you to use a different adjective. I think we have gone a little bit too far on the replay stuff across all sports. And I'm just wanting to see if it works. If it works, I'll admit that I'm wrong, but I think we've gone a little bit too far.

I think we haven't used it. We have it, use it has always been my mantra. And why do we have umpires at all? Because you still you can't have it entirely. But you actually can.

But we choose to have umpires because of the heating element of the game. You still need to see someone directly on top of it, whether somebody's safe or home. You could do all of this automated. You could do everything automated. Not really.

Not really. You can't do that. That Know it's there's there still needs to be a human element, but at the end of the day, if there is a one Human moment that can be removed at the most important time, and you can use it. Go ahead and use it. I stopped by.

We lived near Harvard-Westlakes baseball field, and they were having a game, and there was one umpire. Right. Game was fine. Kept it moving. No one complained.

Right. And it was over in two hours. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah, but that's come on, man.

We're talking Major League Baseball, World Series, playoffs. Come on now. If you can go like this and say that was a ball. And It's a ball. When a playoff game ends on this.

Everyone is going to be so pissed. And I'm going to be sitting right here to tell you what I tell you. And you'll say it's charmless. I'll say it'll charmless. I just remember all the time.

uh hearing that it was charming and part of the charm Of college football to have a bunch of writers decide who wins and who loses. And that it would if we removed that and had a playoff. Then the charm of the sport would be removed of having every week count. that everyone needed to be undefeated in order to win a national championship. And you have to have the charming people who from the Associated Press.

decide who wins and who loses. who goes home and who does not, or not, or goes home a winner or not. there would never be a national championship game. And now I think it's more charming to see it the way that it's going. We've also gone a little bit too far.

Why? They want to expand it.

Well, we're perfecting it. We're perfecting it. College basketball, there was talk of 128 teams. And we've gone a little bit too far each time. I would agree that there's too far, that there is some too far.

Mm. ABS is not too far. I'm looking forward to it. I will keep my finger on this chess piece. Again, we'll see.

You're keeping your finger on the chess piece. I'm keeping my finger on the chess piece. But again, the number of people like, oh, don't don't have a college football playoff. That's so charming to have every week matter and then leave it up to some guy in some plaid jacket with a cigar in his mouth to decide who's the national champion or not. And in the meantime, let's just keep it all on the field and let me decide who's the MVP of the NFL.

With my vote.

Well, you got that wrong, so we're all didn't get it wrong. Go for one. I couldn't have gotten it more right. Oh my God, did I get that right? I don't so happy about that.

Too bad. And I'll keep bringing it up. Too bad. That'll wrap it up this show, everybody. Chat again on Tuesday.
