Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Today's guests: 49ers fullback Kyle Yuzczyk. Ravens Head Coach Jesse Minter. Actor Ted McGinley. And now, it's Rich Eisen.

Our number two is on the air on Disney Plus, the ESPN app, ESPN Radio, and also Sirius XM Channel 80, Jesse Minter is about to join us, the newest head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. 844-204-RICH is a number to down and have a chat with us before we get to Jesse Minter. Let's fire up Andrew in Baltimore, Maryland, hanging on hold. What's up, Andrew? Yes, I called in today, and Jesse is going to be on the show.

That's incredible.

So yes, I'm excited. It's great to be a fan in Baltimore. I will say, be careful what you wish for, but I'm excited. I love a defensive-minded coach. My kids are excited.

Um, we're going to get back to some Baltimore football, is what I think we're going to do. Like what? Um, like what, buddy? I just think some old defensive football. Like, it's just going to be it's going to be nice.

Look, I'm a guy, I would rather win a game You know, nine to six than this forty-two to forty-eight, or whatever it may be. And maybe that's not the exciting football that the NFL wants to see, but I think that's just Good old-fashioned football. We've got to get some rule changes done, and it'll be nice. Rich, can I just say one thing as a guy who you made me late for a lot of school buses. You know, I'm pushing 50 and gotten a lot of trouble.

I would just have wanted to talk to you for so long and just give you a big boo-yah, okay? Thanks. I just want to throw that out there, man. I'm sorry.

So, Tardies were on Andrew's list because I was doing the. The highlight to Jay Buner's two home run game for the Seattle Mariners. Back in the day, is that what you're saying? That's exactly right. A lot of yelling to get out the door of the bus is coming because I had to watch it one more time through because know, I wasn't allowed to stay up and crazy late, but I had to catch it in the morning.

So I just, it's an honor to talk to you. It really is. Appreciate you, sir. And go to Seattle. Um, I'm just all over the place because it's just it's just great to talk to you.

This is like a kid's dream come true. What rule changes were you were like, okay, we're set with our coach, we're set with our roster, but we need rule changes. Like, like that the Ravens must win every AFC North game. Like, what rule are you changing? Like, what do you think?

No, like, like, you know, you know as well as I do.

Some of that smash-mouth Ravens football is going to get flagged and everything else anymore, man. You know, the Ray Lewis of the days and the. That kind of defensive hitting football going after the quarterback, it's just not the same anymore. The NFL loves these high scoring out of you know, out of touch Scores that protect the quarterback all the money. And And it just, I just missed some smash mouth football.

Okay.

Well, Andrew in Baltimore, thanks for the call. Greatly appreciate the compliment. He may get what he's looking for in Super Bowl 60. He may get that 9-6 final. If the Patriots can...

We can hope not. Can lock down somehow, some way, Jackson Smith and Jigba and. you know what Kate KW three. Right. The total's at 45.5.

It opened at 46.5, so it's already down a point. I would never try to speak for the majority of people because I don't know what they'd be thinking sometimes. Yes, sir. I'm pretty sure the majority of us don't want a nine to three. Super Bowl.

I said 9-6. Oh, 9-6. Yeah.

Well, I mean, the Patriots Rams, 13-3 was one of the most boring games I can remember in recent years. And you won that game. Yeah, and I was happy of the result, but it was really rough watching. Right. And that was the year of all the uh The high scoring games.

Remember the Chiefs? Rams that we all were at. Right. At the Colossus. The NFC Championship game ending on a terrible no-call.

Well, it didn't end that game went in overtime. Yeah, that was a year of a year of offense there, and the Super Bowls only 16 points. Joe Brady's just been introduced as the newest head coach of the Buffalo Bills. We've got sound bites all set up for that because Mike Hoskins, our Bills Mafioso. coordinating producer would want no less.

Um and um the uh head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Newest one has just sat down, and uh, a man who just makes me smile when I see him. Because he's a national champion defensive coordinator back in the day at the University of Michigan, now fresh off of the Jim Harbaugh staff. Um Los Angeles, the newest head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. How are you, Jesse Minter?

Good to see you. I'm doing great, Rich. Thanks for having me on. Great to see you again, as always. Yeah, right back at you.

Last time I saw you was right out here in Los Angeles getting set. For one of the final regular season games for the Chargers. What's going through your mind today, man? What's going through your mind? man just blessed uh humble you know humble to have this opportunity Know that all the work and all the All the days, all the years, you know, that everything pays off.

And then, when you really think about it, you're just beginning again. And so, look forward to the great opportunity, great challenge ahead. Look forward to building a great team with these guys. It's a wonderful organization, as you know. I think it's the best organization in sports, and I couldn't be happier to be the head coach of the Ravens.

Well, yeah, I mean, obviously, distance traveled a lot of college time before you set foot in the NFL with the Ravens as a defensive assistant in 2017. How did you wind up on the John Harbaugh Baltimore radar to begin with? Jesse. Yeah, my dad had worked with John previously in the early 90s when he was the head coach at Cincinnati.

So they had maintained a friendship and was in between looking for an opportunity. And he reached out, and John was gracious enough to get me in the door, really, at an entry-level position that first year and was a blessing, was probably the biggest break, obviously, at this point in my career. and I really just tried to put my head down and go to work. work my way up the ladder, learn, really learn from all the great people in the building. And now I'm sitting here as the head football coach.

That's kind of crazy. What do you remember from that day drinking from the coaching fire hose? That you're going to bring to bear now as the head coach, the man at the top of the flowchart. Yeah, I mean really just You know, when you go when you go somewhere, it's like whatever job you have. Be the best at that job, whether it's the low-level assistant, the position coach, the assistant position coach, whatever it is, have that mindset to be the best at that.

Take care of that position, worry about that. And I think when you do that, great things happen to good people. And have definitely appreciated the climb from that point.

So it's been a great journey.

Okay.

So and then what was it like for you talking to Steve Bashoti? To start the process, PowerPointing, or whatever you were doing in your process of. of uh pounding the table for yourself. Jesse. No, it was a great opportunity to talk to Steve.

I met him a few times, certainly being here working in the organization. But if, you know, first time and we're really, really talking and trying to just. Talk about the vision that both of us have for what this organization can accomplish. It's obviously accomplished great things previously. And really, just the kind of the new voice and the new way, and creating some new ways to operate.

And achieve our goals. And so it was great getting to know Steve. He's a wonderful owner to work for. Great to be with Eric DaCosta, Ozzie Newsome, Sashi Brown, all those involved at the top of the organization. And couldn't be luckier to walk into this place.

But so, what meat can you put on those bones, Jesse Minter, about doing it maybe differently from the way it's been done for 18 seasons? And you were part and parcel of those. 18 seasons for three. Um you know three years What's different about Jesse Minter from the John Harbaugh way of doing things in Baltimore? Yeah, tons of love and respect for John.

Obviously, gave me the opportunity to get in the door here. And so it's really more about me, my own style, my own way to connect with people, my own way to connect with the players. Try to create an environment where we can get the best out of everybody. And that's certainly been done here before, so it's not an earth-shattering difference, I would say. But I think the players will feel it being a little bit different, being my style, being how we operate with standards and how we're trying to achieve the things that we want to achieve.

And so really just look forward to that opportunity to continue to really start with the relationship piece with the players. That's an ongoing process. Those things take time. And so that's really the main focus right now, along with building a staff, is to getting to know these guys, talking to them, hearing them out, listening to them about things that they've, you know, things that they enjoy, things that maybe whatever they want to talk about. And so really look forward to just being collaborative with the staff, with the players, creating the best environment in the NFL for players to get better, for players to develop, and ultimately to build the best team in the league.

Listen, man, I understand the sensitivities of talking about the previous coach in any spot that you're taking over, right? Because you want to do it better and get better results. And that comes across as potentially denigrating the people that used to be there and somebody who you clearly love and respect is. You know, everyone around the league does with John Harbaugh.

So, so I understand what you're saying, and I guess that's the caveat of this question: we all understand. You know, we saw the frustrations from Steve Bashoti in his press conference. talking about why he made the change and the results needing to be different. How can you go about your business knowing that the ultimate prize we know is to win a Super Bowl every year? But this is it, right?

Like that's that's the the floor for you. Right? Yeah, that's a challenge. I think it's a challenge you embrace. I think it's really like, man, we need a really connected team.

We need a connected team. Coach to player, player to coach, player to player, side of the ball to side of the ball. Special teams to everybody. And I think that's probably why I'm sitting here. I think they feel like I'm my leadership style.

I will bring this whole thing together, bring the players together. create a synergy amongst us that we're all doing this for each other. And I think that'll be the main goal going forward. Is that something similar we're seeing with Mike McDonald in Seattle? Because, again, that's also part of your DNA here, and that you sound a.

You're sounding a lot of the same uh principles that we hear him espousing right now on his way to the Super Bowl. I would say that Mike and I think about the game very similarly. Tons of respect and love for Mike. I wish him the best in the Super Bowl upcoming. I've had a great year.

And so I think it's just. You know, sometimes when you're younger, you just, there's a different connection piece maybe with the team and how you try to create that. And so I really look forward to that part of it. And it's building an identity where everybody knows the identity of the team. The offense and the defense, man, we're there for each other.

We pull for each other. Nothing surprises us. Nothing rattles us. We're creating an identity where we can be at our best in those big moments. Late in the year in those big playoff games.

And all that'll take a lot of work. That doesn't happen because you talk about it. It happens because of the actions of me, the actions of our staff, the actions of the players as they're coming back. And so it'll be an action-based. a process of us putting in a lot of work.

But there's certainly a nice blueprint there. Mike's done a great job, and I think hoping to have similar results. In my last couple of minutes with you here, Jesse Minter, the Ravens here on the Rich Eisen Show, I'd like to talk about the two jerseys over your left shoulder in that locker that's behind you. Eight and 14 are going to be two crucial players for you and your plan to get this team to the. Lombardy Trophy Podium.

Let's talk about eight first. Your plan for Lamar Jackson would be what, Jesse Minter? Man, just to first of all to connect with Lamar, we've had some good conversations. Relationships take time. And I think our relationship is really one of the most important things in this whole process.

And so we are getting to know each other really on a daily basis right now, having a lot of good conversations, good talking points. Look forward to seeing him in person soon. Um And so that's the catalyst of it. And then it's creating an environment where we bring out the best in Lamar. I think he's one of the best leaders.

when he's in an environment that he's thriving in, that he's enjoying. And so it's our job as a staff to create that environment where he can be the best version of himself. We've seen what that looks like when he's the best version of himself. There's nobody better in the National Football League. And so, really look forward to creating that environment for Lamar, working hand in hand to make sure we get that done.

And then the offensive coordinator of your choice would run what type of offense to get. Lamar to wear Where he can get even further than what he's already been? And how would it look different from what we have seen? Yeah, I think it it takes a very creative, innovative person To build an offense for Lamar Jackson and for the players we have in place: the Derrick Henrys, the Zay Flowers, all the guys here, Mark Andrews. And so it's going to be a very collaborative offense built around the guys that we have, the players that we have, the strengths of each player.

And then having the best quarterback in the National Football League. And we want plays where he can thrive on schedule and we can make the offense easy for him at times with having a really dominant running game and having plays off of the running game that create explosives and create completions for him. And then you know that you have Lamar, and then when it becomes crunch time and something's covered up, that he has this magical power to make plays in those situations. And so it's going to be a very creative, innovative offense built around who we have, and most importantly, built around Lamar Jackson. And then 14, he's so damn good at his job, but you knew that already.

Um, and Derwin James, man, when I was preparing for the games in Brazil and you know, against the Texans on NFL Network and YouTube this year, Jesse. Uh Derwin James spoke so highly and lovingly of you. And how he would want to go to battle with you anywhere, anytime. Do you see employing Kyle Hamilton in a similar way that you do? Or did with Durham James?

Yeah, I think they're, you know, they have some similar traits as players. I think they're also both their own guy.

So much love for Derwin.

So much love and respect. He's one of the first guys that reached out to me when this happened. That's cool. And so, you know, Kyle, I look at both of those guys, they're weapons, you know, they're defensive weapons. They might not have one position that they play.

They can do so many different things well. And so it's about finding ways to employ their skills. For them to most impact the game. And I think that's the job of the designer. The same way you look at offense and you look at trying to create ways for your playmakers to impact the game on offense.

It's really how I look at those types of guys on defense. And so I couldn't be more excited to work with Kyle.

So much love and respect for him. He's been a great player. I think he'll have a lot of fun and thrive in our defense. And I can't wait to get to work with him. And, you know, hopefully, I really believe he's capable of being the most dominant defensive player in the league.

And look forward to helping him get there.

Okay.

And you're calling the plays defensively? You're going to dial it out? I will.

Okay.

I will.

All right. And you're ready for the, obviously, the challenge of calling plays and being there and throwing challenge flags and figuring out timeouts and all that stuff. It's. I'm so excited for you. You have no idea, man.

But, you know, I've already expressed to you off camera how I feel about you and what you've done. You know, to make me a happy guy as a former DC for the Wolverines. Your favorite Jim Harbaugh story. I need it. What do you got?

Give it to me. Give it to me, Jason. Give it to me. Favorite Jim Harbaugh story. I got to get one.

Just give me one. Whether it's it was at Michigan, whether it was in In a meeting room, film session, something he told you. You're laughing already. Maybe you've found one. What do you got?

What do you got for me? You know, like The thing that I love about Jim the most is He is genuinely himself all the time. And he is so much more. Of a positive influence on players in the team than maybe what people perceive him as. And I think that's what I love and cherish about him the most and what I've taken from him the most.

He builds up players in a way unlike anybody I've ever been around. Um And then he'll have just wonderful stories the night before the game about things that happened to him as a child, things that happened to him growing up, and then relate it back to how we're building a team and how the guys are going to go play. He's the only person I've ever met that claims to remember the day he was born. And he's used that on multiple occasions.

So that's probably the one that jumps out to me: you know, him talking about the day he was born. I bet. Did you ever, in a private moment, just turn and go, Jim, really? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that to you as you were taking a sip of water. But like in a private moment, say, really, you really remember the day you were born.

Really? Do you ever have one of those moments? I let them have that one. Just kind of go with it and try to, like, the players would be like. Is he really?

Wait a minute. Like, get them to really double think about it.

So I let that one go because it was so fun to see the reaction of the guys. I love it.

Well, congrats again, Jesse. And last one for you again, because. You know, I know what you feel about the Harbaugh family, obviously, but if I had come up to you. 2017, when you're first walking in the building for the Ravens and say, listen, we all know the coaching profession. You know it very well from your own family that at some point, 10 years end for great head coaches.

If I told you you were going to be the one to replace John Harbaugh as the HG or succeed him. in Baltimore you would have said what to me. That day. I probably just would have shook my head, you know, and um. Been like, okay, maybe, maybe, maybe 20 years from now.

And then by being there, you know, it just allowed me to get on a track. Allowed me to connect to the Harbaughs. They've both given me wonderful opportunities to grow and be ready for this moment. They've both been very influential. And so really just blessed and thankful to them.

And that really would have been the main thing: just, wow, you know, if I really work hard and I put in the time and I grow and I listen and I evolve, maybe one day I could walk back into this office. And you have, and you will. And I appreciate the time and I look forward to seeing you. By the way, you're aware the Chargers are on your schedule next year, right? Are you aware of that?

Very, very aware. Very aware. That'll be quite a moment. Jesse Minter, I'm so happy for you and your family and everything going on with you, man. And I look forward to seeing you maybe at the Combine with your.

I appreciate that. Much love, Rich. Enjoyed, much enjoy and love and respect our relationship. And can't wait to see you again soon. Right back at you.

That's Jesse Minter, the Baltimore Ravens' newest head coach, right here on The Rich Eisen Show. I love how you said that about Jim. Did I tell you this story of Jim calling me back? on the phone after we got off of zoom. Recently?

Yeah, prior, you know, with the broadcast Zoom prior to the Chargers and Texans.

Okay, no. I didn't tell you that story? Nope.

Okay.

Let's take a break and I'll tell you that story. It's classic, man. We end the Zoom, and then I look down, and it's him calling me, and I'm like, what is this about? Uh-oh. What I do.

And it dovetails into what Jesse Minter just said. And then we'll talk about Jill Brady. And then we got her phone calls, and then Ted McGinley joins us from Shrinking. We're going to talk love boat back in the day with him. I almost broke out in the song, but I didn't.

Please don't. Please don't. The last person I want on my ass is Aaron Spelling, okay? Because he can. He can sue.

Yeah.

The Rich Eisen Show Podcast. 844-204-RICH, number to dial. We just had a great chat with Jesse Minner talking about how Harbaugh. Just um loves football and just will always um recon just tries to connect and reconnect and stuff like that, right?

So font of this story. where On the pre. He's kind of like Belichick in a way when you talk football games with him that you're about to. Talk with him about strategy or this or that, the other thing. He just is not going to tell you, oh, yeah, this is what's going on with Herbert.

We're trying to work on this. We're trying to work on that. You need to ask questions that'll get him going. about just Something to do with football, tangential. That's the stuff you're going to get.

Maybe tell a story during the broadcast, right? Um Like when Belichick, when we interviewed him before his last win, We we did that game in in Denver. Kurt and I, just talking about, you know, the development of what happened with Mac Jones and what's going on with Bailey Zappi. Nothing. Talking about the old days with him and the Rams.

Oh, it was on. Special teams, snapshots, loved, just all that sort of stuff. Yeah.

story after story after story.

So Kurt asks Jim Harbaugh Because this was right after Christmas. what his favorite football related Christmas gift he ever got. Whoa. And Harbaugh talked about these bed sheets that he and John had had. gotten as a Christmas gift.

That had all the football logos and football. Teams you know, logos on it. I remember seeing that. And I remember having them myself. I gotta get those for cage.

Whatever they are today, like I just remember waking up and like the Buccaneers logo, the Buccaneers guy would just be right in my face, right? And and um And we were just all talking about it. He was just fired up about it. And then We are done with the Zoom. And I look down at my phone and it's him calling.

Harbaugh calling. And I'm like, hey, Jim, what's up? And he goes, I forgot to tell you, there's one other one that I got. There's one other gift that I got. Talked about, he's like, dad used to be real good friends with Gil Brandt, you know, one of the grandfathers of the Combine and Talent evaluation, long time gener um Dallas Cowboy front office guy.

And he said, My dad. Got Two Cowboys jerseys. from Gil Brandt. with our names on the back. And we opened them up.

And we got these jerseys with harbaug on the back.

So there is a harbaugh. Cowboys jersey that exists somewhere.

Okay.

And he's like, we put them on, and we went right to the backyard and started playing football, and we got them all messed up. And it was awesome. It was an incredible day. Like, my name's on a cowboy jersey from Gilbrand. Incredible.

John had one. I had one. We played football in it. And I'm like, that's amazing. And then he goes.

All right, good talking. And that was it. Hung up. It was like a hit run. Hurricane Harbor.

Yeah.

Hurricane Harbor. And it's one of those things you look at your phone, you're like. That was awesome. That's pretty amazing. It's like Kevin Pollock.

Anyone else see that? Proceed that? Anyone? Anybody else? I was, yeah.

Like nobody else saw it. He just like I had he I had to tell you All right, bye, Rich. Cause he, wow, you know. Did he just I forgot. There was even better than the bed sheets.

Yeah.

That happened. Oh, man. And then it was as fast as it happened, that's how fast it ended. All right. Well, good talk.

Good talking with you.

Okay.

All right, bye. That was it. Big gulps, huh? Damn. Yeah, big gulps, huh?

Gotta go drink some milk. And now you know now he's his OC is Mike McDaniel. And we were having fun with it being the odd couple the other day. You know? But I think they're going to get along just fine because As Jim said in that broadcast Zoom, that pre-broadcast Zoom that we had.

He He gets along with people who love football. If you love football, we're going to get along because I love football and you love football. We all love football. People who love me love football, and I love football. Like, it was just it sounded like a John Madden sort of caliendo bit.

Boom. You know, you know, I love football, you love football, tough acting, ton acting, boom. You know, and they're dunking. And I think they both just love ball and love talking ball. And Mike McDaniel was introduced.

to uh the media the other day. And it was just across the street, one of those two drinks. What's the setup for this one, Mike Hoskins? Give it to him. Oh, what was Jim Harbaugh's selling points?

Because you know, this guy had many options. Yeah, had coaching interviews.

Well, not just that. I mean, I think anyone wanted him as their OC. I mean, again, we're going to. Talk Joe Brady later on because he just got introduced as the new HC of the Buffalo Bills. And if they didn't choose him, Um There was word that he would be Jesse Minter's choice as the OC in Baltimore.

But at any rate, Mike McDaniel was a hot commodity, and this is what he said Harbaugh's selling points to him were. I think what was cool, um Jim wasn't trying to sell me anything. And I felt that. I think he recognized that, yeah, he was excited about the prospect, if and only if. it it was a a marriage that was consensual, you know, and not a hostage situation.

So I I feel like you know just uh us organically talking about you know what we're looking for and and uh what was on the horizon, um I think that was the biggest selling point because I didn't feel like he was overselling me. He wanted it to be a fit, and I think recognized. He made sure to lean in for the old Harbaugh handshake as soon as he could see that I was swoon on my own regard.

So I would say the not-selling authentic nature of our communication was probably the biggest for me. And for those on the radio, he's wearing his glasses. He's got the quarter zip sweater underneath what looks like a Botega Veneta jacket. Yeah, Mina Kim sniffed that out. Is that what it was?

He's got a $12,000 jacket. Did I get the jacket right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. By the way.

Well done. Susie Schuster, look at me. Yeah.

Look at me. Amita Kimes had pointed that out. I had no idea. Like, it looked like it. I didn't see what mean ads is.

Was that on X? Because as you know, I'm not. She posted the other thing.

Okay.

Richison is right. Thank you so much, Jennings. Dang it. But look at me. Susie Schuster doesn't even know who I am.

It's all you, Suze.

So that's a $12,000 jacket, right? Yeah.

Very expensive. All right. So how does this work in the hardball world, right?

So this is the odd Costco jeans. This is the odd. That's the hardback. You know, Felix Sunger walks in with a Boteca Venetive $12,000 jacket and Jim's wearing his khakis. You're like, how's this going to work?

Hit it. Your guys' personalities are gonna match the same guy. He's just he's just taller. Yeah? No, I think um I think that's the cool thing is uh you know, like everybody else, I think we're excited for that because um I don't think I think one thing we share is that Jim has never patterned himself after somebody.

Um he's his own person, and I would say, you know, um hopefully I would be described in a similar fashion.

So you know, who knows? I might I might be a hundred percent Docker's coach. Yeah.

Right, I you know, the the options are um are are unlimited, but um he he's already tried to get me on uh transition lens lenses, but I but I've held off, I'm not 50 yet. I'm not fit yet. Head coaches. Get Justin Herbert to the Super Bowl without driving each other crazy. Yeah.

Yeah, yeah. I think this is going to be great. I do, don't you? I mean, this scheme is not anything like what Greg Roman's been running, I don't think. No, health, obviously.

And I'm not an XSO all-22 guy. They're going to need to upgrade at wide receiver, and then this offense can really click.

Well, Um Slater and alt coming back. Yeah, so I mean, health-wise, you get the line intact. But the run game, like, this is what. Jim wants to do is control the line of scrimmage and run it. And I know McDaniel was known for, oh, there's Tyreek Hill, and there's Jalen Waddell, and Matua would.

You know, at one point when it all first blush started, they were putting up what 70 on Sean Payton, right? And pre-snap movement, I mean, and all of that stuff. But it really is predicated on the run and the run game and getting those angles. This Kyle Shanahan way of getting that extra. advantage When you're tossing the ball instead of handing it off, or you're putting this guy in this position, or you got the pre-snap motion here, and you're going to start getting a better running game going there.

This is what Jim wants. And this is what McDaniel is going to provide for Justin Herbert. With the proper protection, I think you're right. What do you get? Another receiver?

I mean, that kid Harris was coming on strong at the end of the season. Ronde Gatson Jr. was getting it going. Yeah, but Keenan Allen is, I think, kind of near the end. And so it's like, you know, upgrading the slot there.

I think, you know, what you do is. You know, Quentin Johnston was if I'm the Chargers and we got Daniel Jeremiah on tomorrow. Um we'll ask you about this. Like Is there another Han? In the draft.

Don't forget, E-Cham wasn't the top drafted running back. No, get somebody who's really fast. and can complement O'Mari and Hampton went healthy. And get that guy being a game changer, field flipper. Big game.

You know, chunk play guy, home run hitter.

Well, HN fell in the drafts because, you know, injuries, but he was a third-bounder. I'm saying, like, if you can get that guy. In this offense, for McDaniel to employ, then it doesn't have to be Justin Herbert. Protect him, maybe get another receiver, I guess. I don't know.

Replacing Jesse Minner is going to be significant. I'm telling you. And in that regard, in Baltimore, I mean, if if if they if he brings the Mm-hmm. significant Um Scheme that he's been doing, if he brings that to Baltimore, and he will, and the people can run it, and I think they should. And his MO is 17, 18 points a game given up.

That's it.

So if Lamar and Derrick Henry provide Give me three touchdowns. Two. Give me two. Two Googles. That's about the uprights, sorry.

But well. Maybe a special team's defensive turnover.

Okay.

Good luck. You better protect Joe Burrow if you're Cincinnati, and you better. You know Hope that Mike McCarthy is that upgrade. that you're hoping in terms of results in the playoffs. And then if you're Cleveland, you better hope that Todd Muncin can dial it up for whomever.

Chargers did replacement to the Chris O'Leary.

Okay, there you go. The Western Michigan DC is now Chargers DC. Oh, so Jim. That was late yesterday. Jim went to.

Kalamazoo. You went shopping in Kalamazoo, Michigan, huh? Where we worked with Minter as the safety's coach two years ago.

Okay, very good. All right, there you go. I'm just too busy watching my daughter ball out. Hmm. to f it.

News, I guess, of the DC being something. As you should have been, Richard. Thank you. I'm just trying to be father of the year. I thought you were booking Chris Paul for this show, but you know, it's okay.

Oh, I'm on that. Come on. You know he didn't. Oh, what do you think? After he complimented Taylor, I didn't say, hey.

Want to come tell your side of the story?

Sometimes dad's taking care of tell your side. What side of what story? You know, story. Story has no, he just needs to tell you. At some point, we'll get him here.

I believe it. Not when you're talking that way, I won't. Yeah, I mean, I'm just saying.

Okay.

So Okay. Yeah.

Dang. There's no song. Will he ever stop singing commercial music into a radio microphone? There's no song. Will he ever?

Will you tell me what he's ever doing? You're doing the beat of an actual song. Will he ever stop? He needs to get fined. And then while he's not here, he's here, so.

You need to stop so I won't get fined. We need like a sing jar. Sing jar.

Okay.

Like 10 bucks, 20 bucks. Whoever sings commercial music into a microphone, putting our show into jeopardy of being popped. Fact. Or if we. The ass cap police is always around, buddy.

Especially when we put so much emphasis into it and we point it out. I don't know. Just don't do it. That's hard. That's hard.

Well, and I mean, there's no reason not to cheer it up. It's bothering you so much. Moving on. Moving on. It should bother you.

There's a lot of other things on earth that bother you. Not having a job should be. Oh, my God. Here we go, everybody. God's sakes.

Let me say, let me, you know what's kind of crazy is the divisional round game between the Bills. and the Broncos ended with Bo Nix's news that his ankle was broken. And The next week he's back in the stadium on a scooter. And we all know Josh Allen left the stadium broken up. And then his coach gets fired.

And now, what would you say? Um 10 days later or 11 days later, he's back in the bills facility. At the opening press conference of his new head coach, who's his former offensive coordinator who's been elevated, Joe Brady. And he shows up. In a walking boot and crutches.

This is how Josh Allen shows up. He said later today If he had to play this week, later next week, he would figure out a way. We have n folks, we just have no idea what These guys are dealing with when they're hearing every time. Nobody's 100% this time of year.

Well, I mean, what Rabel said about May's shoulder. This was apparently banged up before the Bronco game. Unbelievable. He'd figure out a way.

So he's on a crutch in a walking boot right now. But he just had to do it surgery Monday. Yeah.

Man.

So Wow. His end of his season, he has surgery on his foot. Need to figure out a way. Good lord.

Well He was there in support of Joe Brady, who had this to say about the high expectations of the job. I understand that I'm walking into this role. in a much better position than Coach McDermott did. I am not naive to that. I also understand that the expectations are higher as well.

I didn't take this job to shy away from expectations. I sure as hell did not do that. I'm embracing it, I'm understanding it. And I'm meeting it full on. I know what I signed up for, and we're going to embrace it because no one rises to low expectations.

I want what this city wants. I want what Mr. Bagula deserves.

Okay.

And now, um The inevitable what are you going to do with Josh Allen question, which is you know, it has to be asked, although The answer could be like What I've been doing with Josh. Keep doing what we're doing. What are you talking about? Why don't you tell me the name of the movie you want to see? Yeah.

Every decision this organization makes. It's with the thought of Josh Allen and the players in mind. I'd be crazy not to. I was a part of incredible organizations in New Orleans with Surrounding Around Drew Brees. And there wasn't a decision that was made without Drew Brees being thought about, talked about, and making sure you understood it.

Doesn't mean it was always the decision, but it was important that he was involved in it because he is the leader of this organization, and the weight that he has on his shoulders is something that I can't even imagine. Um Everything I think about is trying to find ways to put him in a position to have success because that's all I care about with him. Josh Allen is the best player in the NFL, and I have to grow. Right. And part of me growing is that that's going to allow him to be a better version of himself.

And I can't. I'm so excited to be able to continue this journey with him. I have so much love for that man right there. and all I want is him to get everything that he deserves. And uh that's what I that's all I do for.

Man.

That sounds like somebody who just won the Oscar looking right at their spouse in the audience and talking right to them about what they mean. I mean, it's honestly, that's.

Well, Alan did get him hired.

Well, I believed him. Listen, I. I am not surprised by that answer. It's a great answer. And just what I had to chat with Jesse Minter earlier this hour.

He gave great answers. And these are all new, fresh faces for two organizations that are basically get us to the Super Bowl. New. Head coaches. And It really is.

There's nothing that they can say that can make you go, oh, that's the guy that's going to get us over the hump. Because when it all comes down to it, Just like the Rams point, you know. Showed us all When it's third down and fourth down inside the five-yard line in a championship game. You know, how's it going to go? You you call a play and You know, there's been a lot of back and forth between Seattle and Los Angeles of Sean McVay saying they lucked into their coverage.

Based on the play call we had for Kyron Williams, two guys got on him, and that's not the way they normally play their defense. But these things happen. Right? Sometimes your kicker misses a kick. In a way that's Part of the reason why Jesse Minter was hired a week earlier than he might have been otherwise.

Now who knows? You got a 36-year-old guy and Joe Brady who's never done it before at the head coaching level. And then you got a 42-year-old guy in Jesse Minter, who's never done it before at the head coaching level. And two longtime head coaches who have got a track record of terrific success. John Harbaugh in Baltimore twice as long.

Eyes. Sean McDermott in Buffalo. And the guy in Baltimore won a Super Bowl.

So, the owner there has been to the Super Bowl and won one and had a parade based on one year of what John Harbaugh had to do. But these two guys Get us to the Super Bowl. And what's going to happen? Are they going to get the team in an opportunity? to have one game Get them to the Super Bowl, even get that far.

No one knows. She's got to take a guess, which is why. You know, some teams just hang on to their head coaches because they know that this person's track record has gotten them close before. But if they don't get them closer or to it, they're fired. The Rich Eisen Show Podcast.

Mm-hmm.
