Two-time Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stone Street. Coming up. Actor Josh Dumel. California Redwoods attackman, Chris Kavanaugh, and Ryder Garnsy. And now.

It's Rich Eisen.

Okay, everybody, out number two of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air. 844-204 Rich number down. Josh Dumel is going to come out here. We're going to talk sports. We're going to talk about his.

His new film, London Calling, that's going to be in theaters September 19th.

So I'll make a note of that for next month. The Die Hard Viking fan will be out here and a regular of this program. We love it. 844 204 Rich is the number to dial on the program. Listen, I think we can all agree that sometimes Uh adversity.

is what Shows you what a team is made of, what a coach is made of, what a collective group can do. Adversity, you learn a lot out of adversity. And I'll say this. The ups and downs of the Caleb Williams summer and preseason. You know, the downs being the videos coming out of training camp that don't look that great.

Right. Whether it's a practice moment or him trying to throw Footballs through a, you know, a hole in the net. The net with the hole, yeah, yeah. All that stuff. Then his body language, you're talking about all that sort of business.

And then you're hearing Albert Breer coming here and echoing or reporting what a lot of others echoed: that Ben Johnson was having. Caleb drinking out of a fire hose, that they're giving him a lot, and then they're going to start to whittle it down, and then it's going to look a lot better. And um And then it did in the preseason game against The Buffalo Bills, where the Bills Go into Chicago and then get their teeth kicked in 38 to nothing. And Caleb had a. a very nice night in his cup of coffee in that game.

And then they take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night. Was watching that game while I was. administering the uh hosting duties of Falcons and Cowboys live on NFL Network. And um Uh But that's just in. The ones of the Kansas City Chiefs are way better than the twos of the Buffalo Bills.

Correct, correct.

Okay. Yeah.

So for that week nine contest where Kansas City's at Buffalo, I'm rooting for the Bills' health. Yeah.

Okay. Very much so. If the Chiefs come in, knock on Wood just as healthy as we hope the Bills are, it'll be a great game. Um so it didn't look good. At all.

And Caleb and the Brown and the Bears offense. Struggled. And, you know, Tyson Bajant finished up. I don't know if you guys. Age around.

I mean, he followed up his two-year, $10 million and his highly emotional press conference that we played over the end of last week. Bajit looked terrific. They won the game. They pulled the victory out of the jaws of week three preseason defeat. But the conversation that I'm taking away.

is is what Ben Johnson was saying. After the game, about his offense and also Caleb taking a sack. early on in this game and um and calling it for what it is. There was at least one play where Caleb held the ball for, I mean it was like five seconds, I think, trying to get away.

Sounds like good protection. And took a sec. See? Uh How are you well how are you guys coming along in as far as progressing through being more decisive and not holding onto it too long, trying to make a play and then Have a negative look. Yeah, last week was a really good start for us.

This week, It wasn't quite the same, it didn't feel like. Um Once again, we'll take a look at that and we'll see what we need to address with it.

Now, that part at the end was more coach speak of just we'll look at the film. The other part. Looked like good protection, right? And then he gave a look like. Like this is what I'm telling the young man.

Get rid of it. And that sounded like a Rich Eisen Show regular Kevin Fishbane with a question: Is he using Fishbane to make a point? Yeah.

Fishbane is a conduit? We should all do that. That's not a fantasy team name. That's more of a B side of a. Yeah.

You know. The tour I think it's a flip side of a Sheryl Crowe song. Fishbane is a conduit. Every day is a winding road. Uh listen.

I dig the coach, man. I dig it. He's very direct, which I like.

Well, I mean, if he's going to learn anything from Dan Campbell, that's one way to go. Mm-hmm. Very direct. Get rid of the football. Hit your foot and boom, let it go.

Because I'm assuming Again, just knowing I'm not an all 22 person. But I know the way coaches talk, and certainly if they're the ones who are scheming it up.

Somebody's probably open.

Somebody, if the protection. in question is going to be there. Ben Johnson's offense. More likely than not, somebody's open. Second level outlet.

Deep ball, somebody's open. And I'm sure that's part of Ben Johnson's frustration. And we'll see, man. because somebody's coming to bring up the heat. Right away.

And his name is Brian Flores. That's the first game for the Chicago Bears. Week one. I. I'll be honest, man.

You know, when you take a look at the week one schedule, I'm sure we can just dial it up. Again. Um You see all of these matchups. Steelers, Jets. Bucks, Falcons are one, Giants, Commanders, another, Seahawks.

Hosting the Niners. You know, the afternoon games, Lions, Packers, Texans, Rams. You could definitely have nominated one of them as a Monday night game. Right. And when the schedule first came out and it was Vikings Bears, I was kind of like, an interesting choice for the Monday night, like sort of a higher register.

Now as it's getting closer, I'm into it big time. Way. Why? Into it. Because Caleb leads the draft class that has three quarterbacks chosen right away.

And then A fourth chosen Sixth. A seventh overall, pardon me. And then another one. Chosen 10th overall, another one 12th. Sixth of the first.

Dozen picks quarterbacks. And it's going to be one versus the fifth one chosen. And J.J. McCarthy is going to get his first career start, and he's from the state of Illinois, and he's going to show up there. And we're going to see what the offense looks like with him.

The Bears' defense is no joke either, but there is one Blitz happy sort of dude coming and who's going to make Caleb Williams. Um Make decisions fast. And I guess if Ben Johnson wants him to hit the back foot and go, might be helpful. I don't know. We'll see.

But that offensive line and its protection and Caleb's decision-making skills are going to be tested fast in front of the whole country. And we'll see what JJ McCarthy can do with this offense. We'll wonder if Adam Thielen is going to be there. That's a big-ass. Piece of breadcrumbs.

It was more of a loaf that that. Tom Pellisero dropped here when he was on Thursday's show saying, keep an eye out for Thielen to show up in Minnesota. And all they've done is trade two players.

Now, Sam Howell being the latest to amass draft choices for some reason to basically tell Dan Morgan, the GM of the Carolina Panthers, is this enough for you?

So that I took away from that. Again. Bears losing. And hearing Ben Johnson's Response to me. I know this sounds crazy, just as heartening.

as the week two performance against the Bills two. Because there's no sugar coating. He's being coached hard and with a from a guy that I think gets it and knows it. Roma Dunes looked pretty damn good too. I think he's the one there, obviously, that's just in.

With all due respect to DJ Moore, But I I think he's He's ready to roll too. Two tight ends. They've got it. DeAndre Swift looked fast. They've got it.

It's up to Caleb. Isn't that the way it goes in the NFL? It's a Monday. I might be overreacting. to what I just said, but it's time for overreaction Monday.

Hit it, please. That was terrible. That was crap. That was garbage. This place sucks.

Mondays. What's up, everybody? Monday, we're back. You guys good? Yeah.

Other than the fact that the last time you did a segment like this for what's more likely, you used my 14-year-old to troll me. I did not. I didn't have any Yankees in there about how you were terrible against Boston. Who's more likely to go worst to first? A team that's not going to do it or the Patriots?

Well, I mean, I used two teams from the East Division who were on last place last year. I got it. And that's a big topic in the business versus the first. I might be ready. And they played each other.

I might be overreacting. What's first up? Oh man, reports out of Cleveland going to keep all four quarterbacks, guys. What do you think about that? I'll tell you why, they're blowing it.

Like keeping all four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Big mistake.

Well, I mean, who are they? I mean, I don't want to be the one to say it, but if his name was Joe Blow, Shador Sanders wouldn't be on the team. He would have got cut by now. We also wouldn't be talking about somebody not getting a shot at a two-minute drill at the end of a third preseason game either. That's obvious.

I mean, it's obvious that we're talking about a fourth string quarterback potentially. because of who his last name is and what he did in college. Like we're not talking about his Quinn Ewers making it right now. I understand that, but that's what you get when you draft somebody who's. Who's got a name?

But that said, he could be pretty damn good. And you just, they want to stick with him. Again, Pickett hasn't played a down yet. And they have a decision to make at the quarterback spot for next year. And I I mean, crazier things have happened.

But if you're telling me they're keeping a fourth guy just because it's Shador Sanders. Why would they do that? If you're saying not face any backlash, to sell jerseys to that might be a challenge. I don't know. I don't know.

That might be it. About selling jerseys? I don't know. I don't know if that makes that much. Like, you're going to cost yourself a roster spot.

It just seems like a roster spot could be used elsewhere. It's just that much interest than a fourth quarterback who's not going to play. I think saying you're blowing it is a. It's not like they're gonna They're going to cut somebody that's going to struggle, right?

So, wouldn't you want to spend an extra roster spot on someone who can actually help you win on game day? Wouldn't you want to spend an extra roster spot at the most important position in the league where you can actually develop the guy and then figure out do we want to draft somebody? If you're going to have a top 10 pick next year, there's going to be a loaded quarterback class. I know. Then just kick it down the road.

Why are you wasting a roster? I just think blowing it's a little overreacting, but what else? Terry McLaurin got his money. He did. Congratulations to him.

So I had to cross his name off this next topic. But neither Micah Parsons or Trey Hendrickson will play week one. I think that's an overreaction. I think that is an. These are the, like I said at the top, McLaurin, you need to bring in because you need to get him involved in an offensive scheme.

The Nano is the same. But even the OC, Cliff Kingsbury, said that they really can't start clicking on all cylinders till McLaurin comes back.

Now he's back, and you got two weeks of practice. Good enough. These guys, you could basically say, here's your helmet. Go hunt. You know what I mean?

You just say, Micah. You see, Jalen Hurts, he was the MVP of the last year's Super Bowl hunt. Hey, Trey, you see Joe Flacco? You can't miss him. He's nine feet tall.

You know?

So I kind of think that this is something that can be done last minute. Uh The mica stuff is just, it's just it's getting, as I said, farcical. Um So I'll I'll still call this an overreaction. That neither are going to play in week one. Yeah.

We're like 12 days away. I get it, but you can basically tell Micah last second. Good. Uranus. And you can do the same thing with Trey Hendrickson.

Again, those guys are just... Hunters. Mostly. Hmm. What else?

Still not talking enough about this guy and this team being the number one overall pick of the draft. I love Cam Ward. I love what he's all about. I loved his preseason. I think Cam Warden and Calvin Ridley is going to be the breakout.

QB wide receiver duo. in 2020. Give me other ones that might uh that that we can throw here. You got Trevor Lawrence, you got Travis Hunter. How about Nicks and Mims?

Nicks and Mims? Is that a good one?

Something like that. Darnold and JSN? Um, that's not a bad one. We need Hoskins just got in the air with McCarthy Jefferson. I mean, Jefferson's not, but Jefferson.

But McCarthy's new. Mm. But also Jefferson's hasn't been Available this preseason. Justin Jefferson is just. on a different planet.

What else are you going to do? He's never done it with JJ.

Well, I mean, you got a rookie quarterback and Ridley. That's not a bad one. Yeah.

I think that could be a fun, you know, I think it'll be fun when we're going to make out like the best that we've got, sort of like Daniels and McLaurin.

Something like that, yeah. They could be this year's McDaniels. That's a tall order, man. Daniels McLaurin. That is a tall order.

Just something to keep an eye on. Tennessee is going to be a fun Red Zone. The Shields and Garrett Wilson doesn't count because they've actually done it five years ago. That could be fun, too. And plus, they're the Jets, and nothing good can happen to them.

That could be fun, too. Okay. Um yeah, I've uh okay. It's tough to buy this one. I can see it.

It's tough to buy this as a they're it. I feel you. It is an overreaction. All good. Just throwing it out there.

But I am excited for Titans fans. Running back trade over the weekend. Brian Robinson Jr. goes from Washington all the way across the country to San Francisco. I think he's going to be a little more involved.

Than you might think.

Okay. McCaffrey and Brian Robinson. They're going to be the leading rushing touchdown duo. In the NFL decide. I could buy that one.

I could buy that one. This year's Sonic and Knuckles, if you will. You know, that would be quite something that. You get McCaffrey in your fantasy draft. 8 knife.

Right. Right. In the first round. And then he gets vultured by a a former commander. That'll be a tough one to swallow there.

It ain't gonna happen. They're trying to keep the wear and tear on McCaffrey low. As he comes close to 30, they got Brian Robinson in there. Boom, he's going to pound it in. I get it.

Cool. Who else is in this mix?

Sonic and Knuckles, obviously. Knuckles. Hurts and Saquon. Go. Raylon Allen, Brees Hall.

Mm-hmm. How about Tank Bigsby and Travis Atien Team Joe? Who's getting nose? Who's getting nose reps? No idea.

I got one for you. Javante Williamson and Jaden Blue. I would have bet my last dollar that was coming out of this. Ramondre and Travion Henderson? James Cook and Josh Allen.

There you go. Lamar and Derek. And I'll call this an overreaction now. All right. Could be fun.

Just something to keep an eye on. Aaron Rodgers and oh wait. Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, though, TJ, it's almost like we planned that, which we did not. Aaron Rodgers, you know what he uh did this preseason? Nothing.

Zero. Never saw him. Neither did Josh Allen, by the way. Neither did Michael Pennix Jr., someone with three career starts last year. Wild.

Steelers and Falcons, big mistakes, sitting these guys in all of the preseason. Boy man, a little different Rodgers, I would say no. Like, that's not a big mistake. New team, new system. Let me see.

Arthur Smith, dude. Yeah, but you can get reps and practice without putting them out there. Rodgers is just like the last one. You want to see some live ammo? He's 41, man.

Let's try and have him chill. Let's put it this way: at least they didn't have him shoving a sled. Yeah, right. Like last year's veteran that they had. And we all know that, though, because remember, Coach said he wasn't.

Saying that that wasn't going to be the case. The panics thing, though, that's a little bit crasher. That is definitely an easy second guess right now. Easy. Second guess.

So The big mistake stuff. Again, you use this language that this segment's about that catches me, you know, in a way of saying, How can I agree with it? I'm rooting for the kid. Obviously. Obviously, I love Raheem Morris and all those guys down at Airbnb.

You got a potentially firepower offense, man. That one is just like, what are we doing? DeRock London and not playing cousins, I guess. I know, I might get that. I mean, you got to keep him fresh just in case.

Yeah.

The call from the 818.

Well, it's definitely out there. It's not coming from Vegas either. I mean, they need somebody, but they're not getting cousins. No, they're in the. Mike White 818.

The Rams aren't getting him. That's a way homer. Half a proper reaction. Half A proper reaction.

Okay. Okay. Our last one. Oh, we got. Big college football this weekend, you know what I mean?

Yeah.

Texas, Ohio State. Let's go. Texas, Ohio State this weekend. Preview of the national championship game in January. I don't think that's an overreaction.

Obviously, one versus two right now. You know, I mean, Clemson plays LSU as well. Chris Fowler is coming on Friday's show to discuss that. He's calling that with Herb Street in advance of the Lee Corso Palooza that's coming to ESPN this weekend. Um You know, there's always Georgia, there's always somebody else from the SEC that lurks.

Notre Dame's right there. Notre Dame's right there. Michigan just named Bryce Underwood or 17-year-old BFF. I think he's 18 now. They just named him the starter.

Penn State Understood. Penn State is now in that top five mechs. Penn State's now, too. It's great. It's great.

So we can beat Ohio State.

Well, you've got to score more than two touchdowns against him, can you? Listen. Drew Aller could be the number one pick in the park. I don't think this is an over yet.

Okay. Do you? I know you said it, but like now that you can get out of the bit for a second. Oh, um. I'd be shocked if Ohio State made it.

Uh Okay. Yeah.

Amen. I fully expect Texas to be there because I got to stick with this Arch Manning. You can't get any worse. You could take down the music, Mike. You can't get any worse.

than losing to one of the most Um banged up Undermanned Michigan team in your house. And have Michigan plant the flag in the middle of your house, and a Donny Brook breaks out. And their special teams unit is trolling you by spelling out Ohio on your turf. and the entirety of the fan base is in full throat and froth about firing their coach. and everybody needs to go and let's burn it all down.

And then they won four in a row. And not only won four in a row. looked clearly the class of the sport in so doing. Yeah, that's true. For you to choose them as the one to not make it.

Well, I think they beat you this year and then let down after. How about that? No, now that's not starting.

Now that's a potty mouth you're bringing to the equation. All right, let's take a break. We've got our friend Josh Dumel coming on out here. That's next in advance. What's with the music?

London calling, coming up. Wow. And theaters near you, September 19th, Josh Dumel, much sooner than that. That's right. Driving under the influence of marijuana is against the law in every state. That means. even in states where marijuana is legal. That means driving high could get you a DUI.

And if you think law enforcement officers can't tell when you're driving high, well my friend, you're wrong. If you're high, they can tell. Your friends can tell. Their co-workers can tell. Even your parents can tell.

Everyone could tell.

So, what makes you think that law enforcement officers don't know when you're driving high? You'd be wrong. They can tell too. Driving under the influence of marijuana can slow your response time and change how you perceive time and speed.

So, even if you think you're fine to drive when you're high, you're not. Because the bottom line is if you feel different, you drive different. And driving high is driving under the influence.

So remember. Drive high, get a DUI. Paid for by NHTSA. Let's talk O'Reilly Auto Parts, people. They're in the business of keeping your car on the road.

How are you doing? Good to see you. London Calling is in theaters near you September 19th. You play a hitman who's running from the UK after something goes down that's not very good for you. No.

How about that long hair? I forgot that my hair was that long. I mean. I was going to try and talk about the film, but the hair is just throwing me a little behind me. Real?

It was not real. No, that was real. Back on the Rich Eisen Show, everybody. Josh Dumel is here. I'm sitting at the Rich Eyes and Show desk furnished by Granger with Professional.

Great products for every industry. Granger has you covered. Call clickgranger.com or just stop by. Just saw a delightful, funny clip from London Calling, which is in theaters near you, September 19th. Awesome, brother.

Good to see you. I saw that in South Africa.

So London was calling and you shoot it in South Africa. Yes.

So it was, it was, we were able to find, in Cape Town, South Africa, we were able to find an area that was old enough and looked a lot like London. Yes.

And in the movie, my character shoots the wrong guy at the opening. He's kind of a guy who's. You know, seen his better days as a hitman, doesn't quite see like he used to and shoots the wrong person at this party, has to flee to LA. And it turns out Cape Town is a perfect Uh it Yeah. double for Los Angeles.

How about that? I would rather shoot a here. It's just right down the street, but we had to go to South Africa to shoot for L.A.

Okay. Whatever. It's right down the street. It's the business, sir. Yeah, it is the business.

They got to figure that out. It's the first-class problem to realize. It's nice not to have to leave town so that's not the problem. Listen, I'm right here. I know.

You get to. What felt longer, your trip to South Africa or the 405 to here?

Well, that's actually a fair question. I only ask those fair questions, but I appreciate it. Yeah, it was.

So I flew in from the. From the woods yesterday, I was out in Minnesota. Yes.

Back in North Dakota and Minnesota.

So excited to get home. Hadn't been here for months. Yes.

Almost nine months. And right away, just stopped traffic for an hour. It should be a 15-minute drive. It took us an hour. Welcoming you home.

Did you see any of the Vikings out there while you were there? Oh, yeah. I mean, did I watch them on the preseason? What do you got? What'd you see?

It's so hard to tell. I love watching. I actually really do enjoy watching the preseason. Yes.

Because you get a chance to see some of these rookies who may or may not make the team.

Some guys you saw in college, are they going to be legit when they hit the big time? And I'm a little upset that JJ didn't play more in the preseason though. I think we just need to just give him a little taste. I'm talking about not Justin Jefferson, J.J. McCarthy.

Yeah, no, that's what you're saying. Just give him a little taste. I know, but he is not like he's got a lot of reps. Just give him a little taste. Last year is when it all went downhill because he wasn't.

Yeah, well, you still got to play at some point. I know that. You know, I love your coach. I know the kid. I just love the way that he's When he talks, when J.J.

McCarthy talks, you now need to say the last name. You're saying J.J. on your team. Because, you know. Jay to the fourth power, that's what's going to get you guys going.

And we just need the kid healthy. I just a little taste. O'Connell knows what he's doing. You're a big Michigan man, so you're covering for him a little bit. I'm not covering for him.

I'm actually. Giving you information that should put you at C. He's basically still, it's not like he's Aaron Rodgers, who we know. You were going to have to go through this at some point, last year or this year. What do you mean?

The seasoning part of him. Like, at some point, you're going to have to break him out of the bottom.

Sometimes we've got to. I'm going to release him. Release the Hounds. Release him to the Hounds and see what happens. I'm excited for you, though.

I think he's going to be released. I do too. Listen, I love O'Connell. I really do feel good about JJ. He's a winner.

Yes.

I think our defense is going to be stout with Flores again. I think that that offensive line has been completely revamped. We've got all those weapons on offensive when Addison comes back. And we got JJ, of course, and Hawkinson. All the ingredients, it's about whether or not JJ is going to be as good as we think he could be.

Yes.

And I think he could be. It seems like you might get Thielen back, too. I don't know if you heard this rumor that you fly back from the woods. I love that. But it looks like they're amassing some draft choices by trading away some players at the last minute for a reason.

And that's the reason. Oh, you just traded Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles for a couple of drafts. Yeah, we got Carson Wentz, baby. Yeah.

Yeah.

Did you see that? Everybody lost a hit on me for loving Carson, but I love Carson Wentz, and I'm not going to apologize for that. Are you caping for Carson right now? And listen, I am rooting for JJ 100%. Mm-hmm.

But I've been wanting Carson back home with the Vikings now for his whole career.

So he's a great backup. Let me just explain.

Okay, good. Because I'm glad you said those words. He's not going to be taking his job. Because the whole thing is like you'd want to see Carson Wentz out there. No, no, no.

Because Carson will not age one. Carson would say the same thing. He knows what his job is. Do you know him? I know him well.

Have you gone in the woods with him?

Okay, because apparently he likes doing that. I do know Thielen, too, by the way. These as real Minnesota's they come. Yeah.

Adam Thielen. Yeah.

So my nephew played baseball in Detroit Lakes this last summer, and I texted him, I said, look at this. Sent him a picture of the old baseball field. He goes, Yeah, I hit a home run there. I remember he hit a home run with them and they called me out because I forgot to touch first base. Damn.

I guess you never forget that. No. How are you as a quarterback in North Dakota? Excellent. Yeah.

Really, really, really good. Like, what sort of game did you do? I was okay. I was a dropback passer of what at all contact.

Okay. I was not a runner. You got rid of it? I did.

Okay. Pretty good arm. As a matter of fact, a little shout-out: please. Our 1994 Mina State University Beavers football team is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. Where?

Mina State.

So our 92 team already got inducted. We had two really good teams. There was NII, Division II, but we were good, man. And so, you know, all the boys are going to be back in. Mina State Go Beavers.

So is this a is this a so you're going? You're going to the Hall of Fame? I'm going to try. Alan Unger, the director who's sitting right over there for London Calling, uh has got me working like a rented mule. Wrote in this movie.

Alan, I mean, you're blaming your director for not showing up. Like, you're going to the Hall of Fame. You got to give a speech, the whole thing.

Well, it's not me, it's the team. I'm not getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. But you're the quarterback of the team, right? I was one of the quarterbacks. How many?

Ha ha ha ha ha. Hey, I played. I split time. Your best touchdown. Your best touchdown pass.

You gotta remember this. Give it to me. I was. I don't know. It's.

It's probably You know, my freshman year, I came in in the fourth quarter. We're getting our asses kicked. Yes.

And I threw for 215 yards in like the fourth quarter in like four touchdowns. I thought I was going to the pros. Are you serious? I thought that was like, oh my God, I've threatened. Four touchdowns and 215 yards.

And then I never saw the fuel again for two years. Do you have stats over there?

So, according to this Twitter account, D2 College Football Spotlight. By the way, that's a terrible way to start a sentence, according to this news. They dug up some stats on you, Josh.

So, in 21 games, you were 95 for 190. That's 50%.

Okay. 1,242 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, 11 interceptions. See? Thanks for that. You know, I do hold a record there, though, for 10 games in 1993 and then we're a backup in 94.

Does that sound right?

Well, split time in 94. Yeah.

It's still a soft spot. All right. I should have been the starter. All right, screw it. But we won't go there.

Screw it. Don't go to the hallway. Fueled meat. Fueled meat. Let's get him out there on the trail here for London calling.

Okay. Yeah.

Very good. Yeah.

Well, there you go. You found your calling. You definitely found your calling, that's for sure. Josh Dumel here on The Rich Eisen Show. What do you like about this movie that we're just doing?

This is one of my favorite things I've ever done. This dude over here, Alan Onger, is a legit. Director. We did a movie called Bandit a few years ago. It's just a really, it's kind of a throwback to those 90s.

buddy cop movies although we're neither one of us are cops i'm i'm a over the hill Hitman who Like I said, had to go to Los Angeles to to to escape. Getting you know, targeted myself. working for a low rent mob boss, Rick Hoffman. Mm-hmm. Uh from suits.

He's a super talented dude. Yes.

I work for him, and he's got a son who's a bit of a marshmallow. And in order for me to go back and see my son in London, He makes me take his son out on a hit. to teach them how to, you know, toughen up and be a man. And it goes horribly wrong. That kid, Jeremy Ray Taylor, is super talented too.

Well, we just saw a clip with him. It was a funny clip. September 19th, it's in theaters near you. Really fun movie. Fantastic.

And I look forward to seeing that. Everyone that's around here as well. You've told this story or a story before, but I'm wondering if we Could get you to tell it again or another one. Your favorite James Kahn story from Las Vegas? Oh, gosh.

Josh Dumel.

Well, I can't say all the same one I told you last time. Oh, it's all right. You got it. It just means I've been here too many times. That doesn't mean to talk about it.

It's like, what, a marriage? James. Which means we'd love to be a brother. that are suitable for your for T V. Honestly, the guy was just amazing.

I just love that man. I miss him. He taught me a ton. Did you ask him about Godfather? I did ask him what the godfather was.

Because again, that's all I would do. That's the thing. Yeah, well I did. I asked him, I think I told you this before. I asked him if he'd ever met Brando.

That's right. And he looked at me like, you dumb son of a bitch. Did you ever see The Godfather? And I said, oh, that's right. He treated you like he went to the toll booth.

Hey, now. I mean, that's all I would do. That Brian song, you know, I would. And I did get to meet him a couple of times. We did have him on the podcast years and years ago.

He was the number one. Grossing box office starred in 80 and 81. Makes sense. Yeah.

He had a he he was Top of the food chain for a while. But just to be on a set with him all the time on TV. He was one of those guys who operate. He really. He enjoyed.

Chaos and drum. He loved, but he engaged with everybody. It didn't matter who you were on the set. He just was, he was always there, always telling stories, always, well, not always in a good mood, but still had a great, still had a great. Sense of humor.

Sure. No matter what. mood he was in. And so what do you get the most? When people run up to you on the street.

What do you get the most? People bring up to you from your career. Either Transformers or Ransom Canyon's been. Getting a lot of it's getting some run lately for you? Yeah, it's been good.

So Transformers, that's the one that you're doing. Transformers, well, that was those are giant movies. And that was not, I wasn't, you know, shy. I was the man in those movies, but I was the military guy and. People, especially boys of a certain age who are now grown up, most of them.

still talk. And I, you know, the cool thing, Rich, is that I've had several guys in uniform, military uniforms. Uh come to me and say that, you know, I watched The Transformers movies, believe it or not, were what inspired me to go join the military. No kidding. Yeah.

You gotta love that. Because Michael Bay did a really good job of making the military look just badass. Mm-hmm. And you know, I look back at that now and it's one of my biggest regrets is not Joining up. Really?

I really wish I would have done that. You went when you were younger or something like that. It's easy for me to say this now, but understand right. But no, when I was 18, 19, I should have done it. I should have gone and put living in North Dakota, you're talking about?

That sort of thing? And so that's pretty cool. I guess I'm looking at it right now. Transformers, the first one was 2007.

So you're getting people now with their kids coming up to you and saying, you know.

So like boy who are young men who just like, because those movies are made for boys of, you know, from like. Five to twenty-five. And they just love those movies, and so many of them now are grown men. A lot of them have come up to me and said, you know. That That movie is what inspired me to go, join up.

Well, you know what? Everything that's old is new again. Is there any chance? To join up? No, do another transition.

Oh, I thought you might get in the military. No, sir. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no. Not saying that.

What do you think? I don't know. I never say never. But I think that they're still making a bunch of those movies, right? They're still doing, they're still making Transformers movies.

Just to get you in the mix. Let's get you. What would I be now? I went from like cadet to. What would you be?

Lieutenant Colonel in about Now you're running the show, bro. Should be like a What was your favorite scene from it? From any of these films. My favorite scene? Yes, sir.

From the Transformers. I think the stuff we did out in the desert was really fun. You know, I just look back, and for me, it's not the movies as much as it was the making of them. I remember we were in Detroit. Yeah, right there.

Was it no, Chicago? I'm sorry, Chicago on Michigan Avenue. You know, where they have the river going through and they have all the build skyscrapers around. And This is the third one, and people that by this point knew about these movies, so they would literally. Bring lawn chairs and coolers of beer and just sit and watch the explosions all day.

People would be sitting in their high-rise, they would just sit and watch, like, it was just one explosion after another. I remember it. And. That was one of those moments of like, wow, this is like. I feel like we're Weirdly in some big explosive theater or something.

I love it. You got a good Tyree story? Oh yeah. What do you got? Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Tyler, I got an old one. Oh, God, I got a great one.

Okay, so. Tyrese at the time, I forget which one it was. We were traveling the world, doing all the different press in all the different cities, and we were in Japan. And he was every city we'd go to, he'd go to the local clubs because he had a single that was coming out. He was like, We're international, baby, we're international.

And so he was trying to promote this single while we're promoting the movie. And I go out there to So there's a Harajuku, do you ever heard of that? In Japan, it's like the super high fashion. It's like it's it's a really cool street in in Tokyo.

Okay. And I walk out there and there's Tyrese, about a foot taller than everybody there, in the middle of the street, shooting a music video on the Harishutko. I was like, dude, we're supposed to be like. Going to a press junket here in like 15 minutes. What are you doing?

So he would just, he was like, that dude hustles. He's always been a hustler. And I just remember him doing that, like, sort of, he was doing like one of those. time-lapse things where everybody was shooting past him and he was like singing the song and slow Right before Yeah. That's some baller.

He didn't sleep. That dude just baller. That's just 24 hours a day. Don't you think that's baller? I'm sorry.

He's fearless. You get ready for your junk, and I'm going to go shoot a video. He is fearless. And there's a reason why he's had. Yeah.

The success of the mission. He is that. Same to you, sir. Love having you on, dude. You too, my man.

Thanks for coming straight out of the woods and coming here and talking about your movie. Go J.J. McCarthy. How far they go. Give it to me.

I know you already already did the win-loss game. You had in 13-4.

So, you had him getting this pretty record as last year. How far do they go? NFC North is going to be maybe the best division in football. Maybe.

Well, you play the AFC North too. And who else they play in the is it NFC East also? I forget who it is. It ain't easy. It's not easy for anybody.

I think the Bears are going to be good. I think Caleb is really going to start playing with that new coach. Right. Um. I think the Lions are already going to be good.

I think the Packers are good it just depe it really depends on how Much JJ balls out.

Okay. You know, because we have as much, if not more, talent than anybody in that conference. I'm looking at the schedule right here, and I'm seeing. I don't know if you're going to have a premiere in London for your movie, but. They're going to be in London right around the time your movie comes out.

I don't know if this can hook up for you. They're going to be in London. When is that? October 5th, and the week before they're in Ireland. The Vikings are the first team to ever play back-to-back road games.

They go to Dublin and Ireland. Different countries. It's never been done. Pretty cool. Yeah, they're going to be a test case for the NFL right here.

We'll see how it goes.

So, maybe you can do this. Score bikes, baby. Score bikes. How far do we go? Division rail?

Oh, change. I think. You win a play on the game? You say we win the division. We won it last year, won it again.

You get a home game, you're scrolling, you're scrolling. Yeah.

Uh-huh. And then you're you win that, you go to the divisional round, we'll see what happens. Pretty much it. Yeah.

Okay, man. This is when I think JJ really needs that he needs to be that. That quarterback that can take us over the edge.

Well, you know, because we always get there, and then we just sort of. He did it in college. Yeah, you sure did. I can attest. You're gonna love him.

I can't wait. You're going to love him. You know, I saw him at the T-Wolves game. During the playoffs, him and JJ were sitting together. I got nervous to go over there and talk to him.

Why? I don't know. You're Josh too. I wanted to walk over there and talk to him. I was like, I can't do that.

I don't want to bother him. You didn't do it? Wow. Why? What?

That's crazy. No, rich eyes. No, they're boys. Come on! Yeah.

Do you gotta walk up? I can't Can't believe I'm trying to. Fuck your confidence up. I don't know. This is feeling real.

You heard a new look in the mirror this morning, right? I feel like this is role reversal from your movie.

Okay, very good. Good to see you, brother. All right, go see London Calling. That's the 19th in theaters near you. Make a note of that right now.

Like this is This is it. This is it. Everything you worked for, everything you dreamed of. Yeah.

In terms of working and dreaming about it, um. Huh. You sent me a video before I boarded The plane to get here. Yes, sir. And this video is what?

JJ. It's pretty much, long story short, my dad manifesting my entire life. And, you know, it was right before I was born. And him just kind of saying, you know, going through the names and whatnot. With your mom?

Yes, with my mom. And, you know, he was just like, this is going to be daddy's little quarterback. And we have that video. And you've not shown this. I haven't shown it.

You know, he only showed me it like six months ago. Really? Wow. Yeah, yeah.

So I was just like, oh, how come I didn't see this earlier? And he's like, I was just waiting, you know, he's patient.

Well, everybody, it's going to get dusty wherever you are. Here is, so your dad's shooting it on a camcorder on the day of your birth, which is January 20th, 2003. And you'll see the time stamp in the lower right. And your mom, Megan, is sitting in the hospital bed, sir. Having a conversation with your dad.

Check it out. What out there, babe? I like Jonathan James, and I want to. I like those names. Yeah.

I'm calling you JJ. Little quarterback. I don't know. But if not, that's okay. It's totally okay.

They can't see your room. Daddy's little quarterback. Yeah, it's crazy, right? Crazy. And then there's the after photo right there.

It's a big dog right there. There's daddy's quarterback right there. And mom's too. Dude, man, I'm getting all misty just seeing that. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I got a little bit too, but you know, it's a lot, you know, from then to now that took place and, you know, so much they sacrificed.

You know, just unconditionally grateful for everything they've done for me. You know, it's only in the beginning. Good old stuff from J.J. McCarthy, whose successor, once removed. Bryce Underwood was just named the starting quarterback there in Michigan.

He turned 18 last Tuesday. Yeah.

He looks. What is that? From Bad Boys 2. He looks 30. Right.

Again, um Bryce Underwood is is only a a year older than my oldest son. He's only a year older than Zan. Yeah.

Unreal, man. And it starts this coming Saturday, baby. College football. What was that tweet that we were talking about, somebody sent me?

Somebody, you saw it too, talking about college football in March, April, May, June, and July, and August. It's the same thing. Can't wait for college football. In September, it's like, I can't stand this effing. Hopefully I don't have that feeling.

Yeah.

You know. Hopefully, I don't have that feeling. It's coming up this very weekend. I can't six days from Texas and. And that's and that's 9 a.m.

here on the west coast. We wake up and bam, it's on. I know. Hopefully that's the idea is I wake up just before that because I want to sleep in, and plus I don't get to see urban. Jeff in Detroit, let's take his phone call.

What's up, Jeffrey? How are you, sir? What's going on, fellas? Hey, real quick. I don't know if you noticed or not, or if I told you or not, knowing Rich Eisen carries certain privileges.

Calvin Johnson got off a private airplane here probably about three, four months ago. And we were talking on the sideline. And I said, I talked to you on the Rich Eisen show. He looked at me and said, what up, though? I said, whoa!

Why did all of the other chauffeurs get super pissed? Because good old Calvin got in my car. We had the best conversation back to his house, man. The guys A1. And I appreciate that from you, Unc.

I really and truly do. And he gave me a hundred bun. You know what I'm saying? Hello. Uh, you know what?

Let me tell you something. It feels so good to know when your team is good because we used to be the bums riding through the neighborhood waiting on Kansas City and Baltimore to throw out their trash at the end of preseason to see what we can rummage through and get to put on our team to make it go.

Now, everybody is waiting on us to put out the trash. Man, we got some receivers on our team. That receiver room for the Detroit Lions is something else. Isaac Tesla, that dude is the truth. A homegrown dude that is in that Detroit grit.

Man, listen, my GM, he hits on those peaks, guy. He hits on those picks.

Well, Dan Campbell said today that this is the best he's felt about the roster top to bottom since he's been there. And. Thanks for the call, Jeff. I appreciate that, and congrats on the tip you got from Megatron. We're talking all about Transformers now.

Listen, hey. The story about the lions, it's simple. Everybody thinks they're not going to be as good because a Um they slipped up last year and got one and done. And B, they lost both their coordinators. And it's going to be on Dan Campbell.

Dan Campbell's, you know. Everybody thinks he's a great coach for a good reason. But so now he's not going to have a bench? And he won't put his stamp on the team because the coordinators will be less than. And plus we also saw what happened to the last time A championship quality team lost both coordinators, the Eagles took a step back.

So everybody's putting that all together and say the Lions are beatable. And he's like, We've got the best roster we've ever had. Since I've been here. Aiden Hutchinson's coming back. They're not going to have knock on wood 90 million people on injured reserve.

And let's go. And they're in Green Bay to start the season. Good Lord, what a game that is. For week number one. Wow.

Um That's the lion's story. Because they're better. Jamison Williams is going to be that much better. I think Jameer Gibbs is going to be that much better. The offensive line is one of the best in the league.

Jared Goff. Was an MVP candidate last year. The defense is healthier, it's just again. They Didn't get it done last year. Yep.

And they got. The one seed. In Detroit, everyone had to go through Ford Field. And they got one and done. by the Washington Commanders.

Jaden Daniels walked into that building. with a fresh Roster. And a great season, and took him right out. But they also didn't have the defense. Healthy.

They didn't have any of their... You know, they had sp I mean, who was their top Defender that they had healthy, like fully healthy, they just didn't have it. And I know everyone could complain about health. But It's just That result. Along with the Eagles.

took a step back when they lost both their coordinators. And Ben Johnson is gone. in division. And Aaron Glenn is gone. To the Jets.

And golf? still has that You know reputation in the mind's eye of some people that he's not tough enough. He hasn't proven anything just yet. And it it's just like it's time to beat the Lions. forgetting that they're better.

Healthier. Top to bottom, right? I think I kind of nailed the question about the Detroit Lions. And hey, Ben Johnson's gonna make Caleb Williams better. And hey.

Uh the Packers are are deep. And You know, we will see what J.J. McCarthy does look like with Minnesota. But when it all comes down to it, aren't the Lions still the class of the NFC North? I think so.

Right. I think so. But they're not going to take out the Eagles and they're not going to take out the commanders and they're going to have a tough time in their division. I mean, this is the conversation. I don't think any of us are going to take them to go to the Super Bowl, are we?

Mm. I have to decide this in the next eight days, and I'm toying with the idea.

Okay. I am toying with the idea. Because if I'm sitting here and I'm saying the Chiefs are going to utilize getting their Mm. The tar beaten out of him last year in a rallying cry. Why wouldn't the Lions, why wouldn't Dan Campbell do that?

And Aiden Hutchinson's coming back. Yeah, too. He could win Defensive Player of the Year. He could. I mean, Jeff Stanley lose their coordinators.

They're saying that they have to. Once Aiden Hutchinson blows up a play in training camp, they had to keep it going. Otherwise, they couldn't run. place. Man, Alliance.

Can't wait for that. What a season right around the corner. Same thing like hour three. Hey folks, let me ask you a serious question. Did you know that driving high is considered driving under the influence?

So remember, drive high, get a DUI. Paid for by NHTSA.
