And now. It Mr. Rich Eisen. Our number two of the Rich Eisen Show of Super Bowl Week. The Tuesday version of this show is on the air.
I just boxed myself into the way to actually botch the way that I opened this second hour. Look, I'm just still very upset at the way that hour number one ended. We're me talking about making a trade in our fantasy basketball league, Christaps Porzingez for El Ball. I thought it was Lamello, the social media grandma, settling into his chair. TJ Jefferson accepts the trade, knowing it was Lonzo.
I didn't know that. Yes, you did. Yes, you did. Yes, you did. There's a dispute Commissioner Brockman is right in the middle of right now, and it's getting a little awkward.
I don't want to be put in the middle between my friends. Too bad. As you know, being a commissioner of a fantasy sports league means that you open yourself up to stupidity. I understand. That you need to be the unbiased arbiter.
And I'm also wearing a purple cardigan, and I'm very proud of that fact, and I'm getting a little grief. Not gonna lie. From who? Distant people. Oh, wow.
844-204-RICH number to dollar. Michael Irvin's going to be calling in my Hall of Fame friend from NFL Game Day Morning. Eight and a half hours of our pregame show. You know who's not doing all eight and a half hours at the moment? Michael Irv.
No, no, no, no. He is. He is. It's me mooching Irv for all eight and a half hours. You know who's not doing all eight and a half hours?
Kurt. Kurt Wander's tapping out. What? You know why? 'Cause he's working for Westwood One as well.
Our partner's at Westwood One. Oh, yeah, it's not like he's going to go skip out of town. Yeah, I thought he was just a professional. He's a lead pipe wielding professional. He sits next to another lead pipe wielding professional.
calling the Super Bowl for an 11th straight season. On Westwood One, our friend Kevin Harlan back on the show. How are you, Kevin? I am great. It's so fun to be on with you.
Thank you. What a great week. A lot of news, a lot of moving parts, but great to be in the business and cover all. If I'm not mistaken, are you based in Kansas City? Is that where you are based?
I am. I did the Chiefs for nine years on radio. We live here, raised our family here, and we're still here. And the city's going nuts. They much.
They're excited as they were last year. I mean, what a dream come true.
So you have had a front row seat, obviously, for many of the. 50 years that they were waiting. And Mahomes is just, this is it. I mean, this is the dream come true. As you're a sports fan, that one day your team will draft an individual and just change everyone's lives.
Now, obviously, the coach and the organization and Brett Veach and what he's been able to put around Mahomes has been pretty damn special as well. I mean, could he run for mayor in that town, Kevin, pretty much? Mahomes? He could do a lot of things in this town. Yeah, he's.
He is the front office has done a great job. Coaching has been, you know, right in lockstep with what they got with Mahomes. And remember, Mahomes. in the view of a lot of scouts, was not You know? He was great.
He was, you know, would he be this? No. I mean, the Chiefs moved up. to get in this early. And they saw something In the way that read has his playbook and what Mahomes could do and what he thought he could do.
Um, you know, it it's been the perfect marriage. And I I never Forget to mention, Rich, that Alex Smith was here for Mahomes' first year. Right. And the consummate professional, right? And Mahomes got to watch what it was like to be an NFL quarterback: the routine, the practice habits.
Study habits, film work, all of it. I don't think you can talk about Mahomes and the success he has now. without mentioning Alex Smith and then the perfect coach in Andy Reid. It's there have been a lot of contributing parts and certainly Mahomes at the center of it, but Those guys were huge in this rocket start that he's had.
Well, and then you just mentioned, and we're conversing about the reason why. Outside of the obvious with Brady and Mahomes, why we're so excited about this game, is the fact that Brady is starting in his 10th Super Bowl and could win his seventh ring. And on the opening night show that I did for NFL Network last night, there's only four athletes, four athletes who have won seven championships or more and have three MVP awards or more that Brady would be able to join. Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra. And the great Bill Russell.
That's, I mean, this is the rarefied air that Brady could enter, but. The fact that there's Mahomes at this young age doing what he's doing, and Eddie Reid is still a relatively young man for a head coach, even though he and Arians are combined the oldest coaching combination in the history of the Super Bowl. and Hill and Brett Veach having uh also Kelsey signed up. It is possible that we are watching somebody who could potentially go on the run that when Super Bowl 70 something rolls around. He could be doing the same thing Brady is.
It's entirely possible. You can't say otherwise. Right now.
Well, and my colleague Tony Romo at CBS said this. He said, you know, this might be. It's weird to think at 25. But this could be the most important game. of Mahomes' career, but certainly in the realm and the narrative of catching Brady.
So if he beats Brady, He'll have won two, and usually the winning quarterback is the MVP of the Super Bowl. He would be on his way. And at that age, Anything is possible. But if he doesn't, Now Brady's won seven and Benon ten. And that does seem in some ways unattainable.
But the way the league is now, and Rich No one knows this better than you. The passing. the wide open offenses, the creativity, pushing the album, all that stuff. This has a feel. that Mahomes is If everything stays right, health.
you know, all of them. I mean just think of all the things that have got to happen. To make this happen. And look what happened to Brady. Over 20 years, the right coach, right system, right guys around him, right culture.
I mean, like, it's it's not just one thing. It's like. twenty-five things that have to fall Right in place. for something like that to happen. Right.
But Reed is just, you know, knock on wood, everyone stays healthy. I mean, Reid is so plugged into this kid, and this kid's so plugged into Reed. And again, Tyreek Hill is young. Kelsey is... Right, which is what he was when he first started throwing what, like referee flags back at the refs and stuff like that, into a statesman, the Walter Payton man of the year nominee doing things at tight end that not even Gronk did.
Right. I mean like this is what's happening. And we haven't even mentioned this defense. that with Steve Spagnolo can definitely give teams fits throughout the years.
So that's part of this thing that I think is truly remarkable is that, yes, Brady is here with Arians and the Bucs, and they are in Tampa. But you're watching the possibility of Brady having an opportunity to derail. uh a dynastic run or at least Um prevent it from starting now. You know? That's amazing.
back-to-back championships in this NFL the this era of pro football has the, as you say, dynastic feel to it. Last time we had a repeat champion was Brady 16 years ago. There have only been. what, eight or nine repeat champions in pro football Super Bowl history. You'd have to go back, you know, to the years before that when it was the NFL championship game and there were repeat champions, but in just the Super Bowl era, We've only had what, eight or nine repeat champions.
So it's hard to do, and even har you know, and this is the longest span, by the way. from repeat champion to the next repeat channel. We it's always been like eight or nine years. Seven years, couple years. It's never been.
16, which I think is reflective of where we are. Free agency and contracts and salary cap, and all the things you've got to navigate. It just it just is a very difficult thing to do. But we then again, we've not seen A pro football quarterback have this kind of start. No pro football football quarterback has ever won a a Super Bowl MVP has been in back-to-back Super Bowls and has won a league MVP in his first three, four years as a starting quarterback.
Marina was in early. but nothing like what Mahomes has done. And that's what sparks I think our conversation, right? It it it it leads you to think Wow, this could be something that could Push the the goat. Get close to what Brady's accomplished, which again, When you look at his age at 43 and his years in the league at 23, 21 and going to a Super Bowl in his first year in a new scheme, new players, new coach, new everything.
that he's been able to do it again. I mean, it's It's if you wrote this, if you did something on film with it, you'd say that can't happen. But here it is right in front of us in a couple of days away. In a pandemic, too, Kevin, it's really amazing. Kevin Harlan, great.
I mean, you know what I mean? Westwood won radio calling the Super Bowl alongside my buddy, Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, who's going to be on the show on Thursday. Kevin, here on the Rich Eisen Show. And then, again, we could keep going back and forth here with all these numbers and also help ourselves prepare ourselves for Sunday in the fact that we've never seen a Super Bowl ever, Kevin. We've never seen a Super Bowl where both quarterbacks are the winners of the two previous Super Bowls.
We've never seen that. And this is the first in that respect as well with Mahomes versus Brady. What do you think outside of all this, though? Is going to be the matchup. I kind of hit George Kittle in the first hour about covering Kelsey and how Levante David and Devin.
White have been playing out of their minds. If that is going to be enough to at least corral Kelsey so they could. Keep Tyreek Hill from going off in the same way that he did in the first quarter of week 12. What do you think? uh is something for us to watch for.
in Super Bowl 55. I like that, Rich. I like the fast linebackers of Tampa Bay. I mean, they may be the fastest in the league. And this may be the perfect match for the quick twitch offense of the Chiefs.
Like There's no defense that can match The quickness, speed, agility, all of it. that the Chiefs skill players have Except I think the Buccaneers defensively have some of those kind of guys, and it begins with those two linebackers. Also the two Kansas City Starting tackles are out. One guy is all pro on the right side, Schwartz. The other guy, Blue is Achilles in the Buffalo game.
Fisher. He's Pro Bowl. And those two tackles are out. It's been a season And they lost Duvernay Tardiff, who opted out this season to help the COVID cause in Canada.
So three starters on the offensive line of a year ago are out for this year, your two tackles in your guard. And all this season has been about for the Chiefs is connecting the dots. Who's healthy? Who can we plug in? How can we maneuver?
And luckily, they've been able to survive. But can they survive a defense that got Aaron Rodgers five times a couple of weeks ago in Lambeau. I thought the speed of that defense of Tampa was key against what Green Bay had been doing with the running backs. And with Tanya in the tight end. They were they were covering so much area so fast That there was very little space.
for them to put their fingerprints on that game. And Rogers felt it. And Rogers, like we said, was sacked five times.
So you've got one of the best Middle guys on a line in pro football, not Aaron Donald-like, but a rising guy in VEA. You've got, you know, Jason Pierre Paul. You've got guys on that line. Golston right on down the line, and Domican Sue. that put pressure on Rogers.
They put pressure on Breeze the week before the number two seat in the dome. There's no way you can't think they're going to put pressure on Mahomes with a line that is a little jumbled up right now. in Tampa.
So I I guess I'm watching that that defense and what kind of pressure they put on that Kansas City offensive line. And I think clearly, too, we've got Kelsey to me. Is a Hall of Fame tied out. We know Bronkowski. is a Hall of Fame tight end.
It's been a long time since we can say that about a Super Bowl matchup where that position has put two imposing figures on the field in the biggest game of the year. But what Kelsey has done has been historic. What Gronkowski has done has been historic.
Something tells me that those two guys. will put their mark on this game. in some way, even though Grankowski's only caught a couple of playoff passes, that could change on Sunday night. Kevin, before I let you go, you're the perfect person to ask this question to because we've been having our callers call in today. It is Groundhog Day, and so you've called some amazing events.
Again, again, you're calling your 11th consecutive Super Bowl for Westwood One on Sunday. We all know your years of calling games, NBA games on TNT. You said as well, you mentioned about your time calling Chiefs games. And your dad was a long time. President Bob of the Green Bay Packers.
So if you could relive like Groundhog Day, over and over again a sporting event that you have been to, or seen, what would that be? Kevin Harlan.
Well, these Super Bowls are pretty special. The people that have sat in that seat that I'll sit in. In Tampa on Sunday, are some of the biggest names in the business, namely Jack Buck, Lindsey Nelson. And on and on. Marv.
And Marv Albert, thank you. Eight Super Bowls.
So I mean, we can go we can go on and on with the names and Don Cricky. Yeah.
So when I think about You know, standing up there when they're singing the national anthem and those planes fly overhead, and I put on that headset, I sit in that chair and look out over that field and think. how can you live out what I dreamt of as a little guy, Um that You know, this will actually be my twelfth consecutive Super Bowl for Westwood one. I I think that um I say a little prayer of thanks and hope I do the best job I can possibly do. Feel blessed beyond measure. I feel like I've been incredibly, incredibly fortunate.
And proud of who I work with. and and being in this league and and and calling that game.
So I'd have to say Super Goals. She's only one though, Kevin. This is sports talk radio. You can't just, you can't just, you can't be nuanced. You can't be one, anything.
It could be any NBA game, any game you've attended as a kid in college or anything. We can only choose one day to relive and do it again. If it is one of the Super Bowls you called. Which one would it be?
Well, my dad was on the podium when I called my first Super Bowl back in 2010 in Dallas when the Packers beat. The Pittsburgh Steelers. My dad had hired Mike McCarthy. He had hired Ted Thompson. My dad also hired.
Mike Holmgren and he hired Ron Wolfe. And he was also in the room when they pulled the trade for Brett Favre and had to okay that. My dad had to okay the drafting of. Aaron Rogers, which was very controversial at the time.
So, when he was up there with the then president, Mark Murphy, but my dad was still chairman emeritus of the Packers, but was on that podium and had a chance. to be a part of the two separate Super Bowl champions years apart. two different staffs, two different quarterbacks. two different head coaches and GMs. And watching up there in my first Super Bowl, that was a pretty special moment.
So if I had to mention one game, That might be it. That's beautiful, Kevin. That is. I mean, that had been something.
So, your dad's there at the Lombardi Trophy. You're calling your first Super Bowl. Come on, you can't make that up. Of course you want to relive that. I know it.
I was... It was it was pretty special. You know, probably number two would have been last year with the Chiefs. who I'd called for nine years and we have four kids and they were They were little babies when I used to bring them to the broadcast booth and my partner was Lendos. I'm thinking about Len Dawson, and that's last time a Chiefs quarterback won a Super Bowl.
and thinking about Lamar Hunt. And that trophy that they were awarded a couple weeks before in Arrowhead for the AFC Championship, and then. holding up the Lombardi trophy with his wife Norma there. Clark Hunt, who I know. and Norma, who's been very good to our family over the years.
Um, that would be a very close that'd be one A. That was a very special moment as well in Miami. Have a great broadcast with Kurt, who, as you know, is as an ACEs human being as there is on planet Earth and loves calling games. Oh my gosh, does he love it? And the passion comes through the microphones for both of you guys when you sit there for Westwood One.
Have a great cast, Kevin. Thanks for the call. Thank you, Rich, and I'll be watching you guys all day Sunday. I look forward to your great work. We'll be there.
We'll be there. Thank you. You bet. That's Kevin Harland. Westwood won my bad 12 consecutive Super Bowls.
Now that's a hell of a memory. That's what you're looking for. You want to live that day, go to sleep, and here I've got you, babe, and do it again. Don't forget your booties because it's cold. That's cold outside.
Right. Right? You want to punch out? That's great. Why am I blanking on the guy's name?
He punches out everything. Oh, Ned Myerson. Ned Bryerson. You want to punch out Ned Bryerson on the way to the Super Bowl? You don't know his net?
Exactly. Hey, and you know, Kevin's such a good guy, the way that he just calls a game. And if we had more time, I'd ask him who the sound engineer is because he will always give a shout-out like he did that time when he called the great game between the Raptors and the 76ers. My friend Jeff, that's the same thing. He called that game seven that Kawhi won with the buzzer, and the ball bounced on the rim a couple times and went in, and everyone went nuts in Toronto.
And he said that Jeff Walker was a sound guy who caught the ball on the rim. And Mike Del Tufo was hearing him about to give a compliment to a member of his profession, and he's nodding his head. Oh, man, here he is. Here he is. Listen, yep, yep, exactly.
I know what a sound guy does. And then, wait a minute, I hear Jeff Walker's name. Oh, here's the name. The guy's name, forget him. Literally is exactly, I'm describing for the radio audience: the body language Mike Del Tufo as Kevin Harlan.
Called out a member of his profession. What is amazing is how you bring into context what I was thinking at that time. Tell me, Mike, I'm wrong. I saw it. Anybody?
I'm wrong. Because you've now completely embellished that story to think that my friend Jeff, who I know, wasn't supposed to be in the chair. Here we go. Patrick Thornton. Here we go.
I'm pledging both of them. We're going to play it one more time, and you tell me what you're thinking. I go to interpretation.
So, wait a minute. Don Bowie is queuing it up one more time. He's queuing it up one more time. Here we go. Roll it.
Roll it. You can tell me. You know, roll it one more time. This is you listening to Kevin Harlan.
So, what are you thinking right here? Right now, I'm listening to who he's talking. You're nodding your head over. Yep. I know the mixers.
I know them all. Uh-huh. Right. And I know Jeff. Right.
And I know Patrick. And then what does that look like? What does that look like? You're shaking your head over. And then that's like in the back of your head.
I thought Patrick was doing the game. Oh, Mike. Come on. Excuse me. Excuse me.
I'm friends with Jeff. You're friends now. No, I knew Jeff. One of the many reasons why. Mike, one of the many reasons why I love you.
Yes. And I love having you part of this show every day.
Okay, one of the things I love about Our relationship is: we grew up in the same area. We talked the same language. We both talk the same language. I totally understand when you want us to. Watch something.
And you say, listen. When you want to play something for us to hear, you say, watch this.
Okay. I grew up with people like you.
Okay. I totally know what you're thinking and how you. Express yourself. There's no question when you shake your head and give the look of what you gave, like you move your head back and you kind of make a look. It just was a different guy.
I have grown up with people who make that, and this. Expression Is a three-word expression. I'm telling you. And that three-word expression of you, you're nodding your head, which is you're in agreement. And hold on a second.
The look you give right here three words: this freaking guy. That's what that word frickin' got. That is you impossible. That's the word. No.
That is the body language. That's the three words of company. DJ, you weren't here for that. It was last year.
Well, you mayn't hear for that. But I'm saying we were here. I'm cleaning up what this. The three words. And I know Chris Brockman agrees with me because he's not engaging right now.
He's not looking. The Chris Brockman look down where he just doesn't want to get involved. He's literally going into turtle mode over there. Rich, Stevie Wonder would agree with you when he couldn't even say that's how obvious that supercision, baby. Let's take a break.
When we come back, Chris Brockman's news update. No, we're not going to do a news update. We're going to take phone calls. Your news update's coming up the top of the next hour before Viggo Mortensen joins us. I know what he answered his question about what he wants to relive Groundhog Day.
Apparently, he was at the Miracle on Ice Wind. It's coming up.
So you know we love talking movies around here. You know we love talking comedy around here. We also love talking about classics around here.
So, you know what I'm all about. That said, all of that said. You know how I must have felt when I was sitting in the movie theater like I was the other day watching the previews, and up came a preview. for the naked gun. with Liam Neese and his Frank Greben, junior.
That Preview had me at hello. I loved Police Squad back in the day. I loved the naked gun back in the day. And here comes the naked gun once again with yes, Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. Come on now, son of the celebrated police squad, Lieutenant Frank Drebbin from the original movie, Paul Walter Hauser's in this movie, also Pamela Anderson.
Guess who also makes an appearance? WWE superstar. Cody Rhodes, and the producer of the movie is Seth McFarlane, the creator of The Family Guy. Come on now. This is going to be so much fun.
I'm excited to see The Naked Gun in theaters on August 1st.
So. What do you do on August 1st? Of course, you're going to a theater near you and you're seeing the naked gun. I might even be there. This episode brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

Not available in all states. I've got my residuals, and if you don't mind, I'd like to. Pro. About my career through my residual checks that you're sitting right here. I've got four envelopes.
Which one through four you choose? Which one do you think? Let's pick number two first. Number two first. Here we go.
Here we go. Billy Bob Thornton. Mm-hmm. What's the oldest residual checks that you have? Probably from like Knott's Landing and Matt Lock stuff like that.
Come on. Oh, yeah. I get them for like 13 cents all the time. Yeah, from Matt Landing. From Matt Lock?
Oh, Knott Lock. It's like one scene or something in the early 80s.
Well, this one is from, let's see, right here. This one is from CSI Miami Caged. Nice. I can't believe this is insane, Billy. This is nuts.
This is a real one? This is a real one. from syndication. $153. Wow, nice job.
Nice job. This is a record, Billy. Wow. I got to open these up more in front of you. I'm telling you, you could actually afford to send this one in to free cash.
Sir, usually there must be a decimal point off. It's usually $1.53. Wow, I know, right? What's Caruso making if I'm making $153? Exactly.
Here we go. You're looking Bob Thornton. You're my good luck charm, man. I got a bad feeling about this one. This is for CSI Miami Deep Freeze.
Oh, Deep Freeze.
Okay, the other episode, Caged, was for $153. Deep Freeze. Appropriately named. $3.09, everybody. And how ironic that your name is Rich.
Yes. Knotts Landing, huh? That's the oldest one you get? Yeah, I was like a friendly rancher or something on there. I had my scene with.
With Ted Shackefort. Yes, that's right. You were officially called a Timberman. The Timberman? Yeah, you were a Timberman.
On Matlock, you were a pawn shop clerk. Yeah, pawn shop clerk. I remember that one. Yeah.
Uh-huh. It is Bedlam in this studio since we went to break. I'm counting back to when we come back from the radio. How much time are we back? I don't have the exact time.
I get told at 45. 45.
Okay, here we are. Here we go. All right. It's not Bedlam. Bedlam in this studio.
It was Bedlam. Peacock audience. It has been Bedlam in this studio. I wish we had cameras rolling during the break. I really.
No, cameras are only rolling as soon as the show's over after I've mistakenly. I had to record that. Identified. Brock, when you were on the recording, I had to record that one. That was too good.
That was too good. I thought it was Lonzo. I yeah, when you hit Right? It's okay. Honestly, this look.
This look, I grew up with this freaking guy. Like, that's exactly what it is. I grew up with many people in New York and New Jersey. Exactly. I thought it was a different guy.
Oh, gosh. I love it. We are back here on the Rich Eisen Show Radio Network. We're all one happy family, I think. I mean, it has been bedlam in our studio since 2004.
It's denied. That he slagged on a member of his profession. I thought it was a great job. You are covering your tracks years later. It's like the rude boy saying a name.
Jeff's good. And then again, just to keep it. It's written all over your face. If you are just joining us, you know, we've had a controversy here where we have our fantasy league, TJ's in last place. I mean, why are you going to keep bringing that up?
Because that's why I reached out to you. I'm like, let me reach out to the guy in last place who's in desperate need of named players and I need to get some assists.
So let me get Lamello ball. I made you a trade. Porzing is for Lamello. I said my unicorn for your rookie. You accepted it and sent me Lonzo because I did not have my glasses.
I did not have my glasses and I did not see the NO next to the LJ. I didn't send you anything. I just thought you had LaMelo. Instead, to just make it worse, the guy we're trying to chase down Adam, our call screener, who's running away with this league, he's got Lamello. I didn't send you anyone.
And I want the trade reversed. You asked in our poll, right? I just hit that with a retweet as well. You asked that show right now. I did a video of.
Of our discussion, and I hit the poll. Right. Let's see. And you said yes or no. And right now it's 57%.
Think I should veto it. Oh, Kathy in Philadelphia actually called in before the show to chime in on this. How are you, Kathy? Hey, Fellas, how's it going? Good to see you.
Well, I think you know how it's going with me, Kathy. I understand, Rich. I understand. I actually was calling in to say that this move is not as bad. I'm a little torn as to whether or not Commissioner Brockman should veto it just because you got to watch the names.
Tyreek Hill has a very different fantasy value than Taysom Hill. Yes. There are T Hills, correct. I like it. I was a commissioner of a football league back in Brady's MVP run in 2010.
Okay. And someone who was not familiar with how fantasy football worked during Brady's bye week dropped him instead of benching him.
Okay, so what'd you do? And somebody immediately picked him up, and I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. Clearly a mistake. Clearly the guy didn't mean but the guy stuck to his guns would not admit That it was a mistake.
So I let the trade uh I let the move stand and and he missed out on Brady.
So the guy who dropped Brady refused to admit his mistake? Yep. Out of pride. Out of pride. So the following year, we renamed the league Who Drops Tom Brady.
Well done. No, the now now I'm I'm I'm with you locked up. Like if I it's if I've sat here and I refuse to admit Oh, yeah, I knew it was Lonzo all along. In the same way that Del Tufa refuses to admit he was slagging on the sound guy, Jeff Walker, years ago, and he was really, you know, saying something else. You know, I would say, absolutely, this guy deserves to have a league renamed him.
Yeah.
Thank you very much, Kathy. Thank you for the call. Very well done. Kathy's one of our favorite callers. Yeah.
By the way, this guy who refused to admit he made a mistake needs to see that pulp fiction scene of about pride coming through. And what you should do with pride. George, I think, Kathy, that was a veiled message toward you. I understand what she was saying. You got to read the outside.
I don't like how close this poll is. I mean, I thought we had smart people following. Cam in Cincinnati. Let's get Cam here on the Rich His Show. What's up, Cam?
Hey Rich, thanks for having me on. First off, To say happy Black History Month to my guy, TJ Jackson. That's what's up, Cam. Secondly, I don't think that you made a bad trade. I actually have Lonzo and Lamello in my league.
I have Lonzo in my league every year. He's been in the NBA. He's going to help your team. He's going to help your team. So I want you to chill on the lines, Johate.
He's going to help your team. You're going to do well. but I would advise you to go get Lamello right now. I want to get Lamello. I wanted to get Lamello in the worst way.
My son Xander drafted LaMelo in both of his leagues, and I'm watching him blow up. And I really enjoy. By the way, I enjoy watching him play. That's why I do fantasy. I get, I play, I've been.
I get fantasy players I enjoy watching.
Okay, I don't want to hate watch a fantasy team.
Sometimes you got to do that for success. I don't know why. When you team up my sons, you will never lose. All right, Cam, thank you very much. Rich, I know how you can get Lamello for a fact.
But even when you lose, I win. What do you mean? I know how you can get him if you want him really badly. Offer Porzingis to Adam or what? You have to threaten Adam's job.
That's true. You do kind of have you can get Lamello if you want him. I don't want to mix fantasy with reality. And how are you going to trade Porzingas for him when you ain't got Porzingis? That's true.
You ain't got a man. Actually, that trade is currently pending on the desk. It says it's pending. It's truly on the desk. It's in the inbox of commission.
Evan in Cortland, New York. You're on the Rich Hisen Show. What's up, Evan? Hey, Rich.
So Basically, I kind of want to talk you off the ledge here. You actually won the trade, in my opinion.
Okay. How's that possible, Evan?
So let me tell you right now. First of all, I'm a Knicks fan, as you. Yeah, so, okay, I think I know where you're going with this one. He can't stay healthy, right? That's the New York Knicks fan in you, right?
Well, yeah, he can't stay healthy because we want to trade, obviously. But all, in real life? Hold on a second. In real life? In real life?
I'm telling you, he is going to, oh my goodness, Rich. The amount of times that this guy has gotten hurt and that ACL, I mean, look at the frame of that guy. It's just not a good look. Like Bull Bowl, I don't see him lasting longer than 10 years in a league. Just look at the frame.
It's a long time, bro. It's too it's It's a long time, but that's also a long time of injuries. And also, if you look at Londo's last five games from a fantasy perspective, He has, um Let's see. He has three games of two steals or more. He also has a 27-point game.
He has an eight-rebound game. And if you go look at Christoph's stats.
Well, he had a double double last night, if you want to be recency bias here, sir. I mean, true, he had the double double. He also had the four turnovers, and he only gets you one assist. And in my league, I don't know how the scoring works for you, but assists Are worth more than a rebound. They're worth two points as opposed to no, we're just straight up.
And I appreciate the call, Evan. Thank you. I appreciate it. Call back. Uh We're just straight up, just statistics.
It's just, it counts just as one. Everything counts as one. By the way, I am not here for the revisionist history that the Knicks. are better off without Chris Taz Borzingis. I'm sorry.
That's like Browns are better without Odell. Come on, man. I'm not here for that. I'm not here for that at all. But okay, Evans making a point.
Someone, someone, Russ Strauss, I'm going to give him a shout out. Great tweet. Rich, you fumbled through the end zone. All goes to 2G.
Okay. Okay. I appreciate the moxie, but not the spirit. Let's take a break, Michael Irvin, when we come back. Our pro football hall of fame friend, making his annual tradition of a stop on the Rich Island Show on Super Bowl Week when we come back.

I always like to think that I'm his most favorite person in the room. But when the Vince Lombardy trophy is sitting between the two of us, I think I lose out. Michael Irvin, right? I think I lose out to this baby, right? And it's so funny you start with this because I'm going to tell you something, man.
Yes. When I was playing, I made a pact that I would never go to a Super Bowl until I play in the Super Bowl. Every guest that comes here, they're going to get Super Bowl questions. That's why I always say I would never go to a Super Bowl until after I play in a Super Bowl, so I would not have people like Rich Hiser asking me questions that I cannot answer.
Now, what do you want to ask, Rich? Because I'm prepared to answer since I won three of these things.
So what was it like picking this trophy up for the first time? It was the greatest thing in the world. And it really was, Rich. It really was the greatest. Do you remember the circumstances?
Oh, my God, man. But First of all, you got to go back and think about like we were 1 in 15. We were 3 in 13, 1 in 15. When you 3 in 13 and 1 in 15 Cleveland Browns, I know you don't think there's any chance that you will ever lay a hold of something like this.
So to go from those days to coming in 92 and winning that Super Bowl and actually somebody handing you that trophy, the most incredible thing, most incredible feeling in the world. Did you ever step in when you heard that Jimmy and Jerry were not doing well or you just, your station wasn't that life effective? I just didn't think anything would happen, Rich. I really didn't. I was like, are you joking?
You know how hard it is to win Super Bowls and you have a formula that's working and then when it happens, like, oh my God. Like, you know, I should have done this. Maybe I should have talked to him. I should have tried this. I should have tried that.
Jerry Jones, I'm telling you, that's what's the one thing. I'll never forget Jerry Jones telling me that when I was negotiating with him, and I was saying, you know, I'll go to Cincinnati. And it was just, I'm just talking, trying to get my monies up. I said, I'll go to Cincinnati and get car pickings over here. And let's see what happens.
And Jerry said to me then, Jerry said, Michael, you know, when I see you, I see Michael Irving and the Dallas Cowboys. He said, I kind of see it like Magic Johnson and the Lakers. He said, what is magic without the Lakers? And what are the Lakers without the Magic? He said, you guys, they belong together just like you and the Cowboys.
He said, Michael, the best way I can tell you, if a bomb hit Valley Ranch today, that's where we practice. It blew everything up, everybody, everything. When the smoke clears, baby, me and you, we're going to still be here.
So we might as well work this deal out right now. That's what he said to me. I promise you, this dude is a fool. This dude is a fool. He had me laughing as he was telling me no about my money.
Yeah.
That's why you're in the Hall of Fame together. I love that story. YouTube.com slash Rich Eisen Show for any part of the Rich Eisen Show that you may have missed. PeacockTV.com is how you can get Peacock to watch us every day. PeacockTV.com is how you can get.
The Rich Osen show in front of your eyeballs, or your eye gate, to use the phrase that Michael Irvin would say. My compadre from NFL Network calling in shortly on the program. And our call screener, Adam, in front of our fantasy league, way out in front. He will be calling Michael Irvin hopefully in a second to make sure that he's. He's hearing us.
Let's go to Ron in Denver in the meantime. Ron on the Rich Eisen Show. What's up, Ron? Hey, Rich.
Uh, I was actually calling in about the um About the Groundhog Day thing. Yeah, it's Groundhog Day, and we asked everybody to call in with a day that you, or a sporting event that you've seen that you'd like to relive that day over and over again. What is that? Exactly. So for me, it'd be the 2016 AFC Championship game against the Broncos Patriots.
Would be the day I'd want to relive to it was just an awesome day, great environment, everything was amazing. But I actually wanted to skew negative and ask you, and really all the guys there. Um Is there an event you guys wish that you could? That you were at, you didn't want to go back to over and over again. Like for me, the 2012 divisional game against the Ravens was brutal.
You know, double overtime, it was freezing, and we lost in heartbreaking fashion.
So, is there any event that you wouldn't want to attend over and over again?
Well, it's interesting, Ron, that you said that because Brockman brought that up. And I said, There's too much negativity in the world. Let's not do it that way. Let's go the other way. And you say this.
Brockman's giving me a look right now. I'll just say this one off the top of my head since you're talking about Denver and being in Denver being in that stadium in Mile High. I was at the AFC Championship game that the Jets and Vinny Testa Verdi and Bill Parcells made, and they were up at halftime. And I just remember thinking to myself, my ears were ringing from how loud that stadium was in the first half and how quiet it was as the Broncos went to the locker room down and then the kickoff to the second half. For some reason, Dave Meggett, who was on the Jets at the time, hit the ground, let drop, just right in front of him.
Broncos recovered, and the Jets didn't stand a chance after that. I'll just throw that one out since we're talking Denver. Yeah, I don't really remember. I remember that game I was I was a little younger then, but yeah, it was uh Fun for me, and not so fun for you. Appreciate that.
Thanks for the call. Yeah, and I was on Sports Center at the time, just one year in, and I was wearing my Wesley Walker 85 jersey that still fit with my name Richard Eisen sewn in the back so they knew which bunk in Camp Lokonda to return it to. I wore that jersey. Yeah.
My buddy. He is Michael Irvin. He was with me last night on the set of opening night. He will be with me in Tampa, Florida on the set for eight and a half hours of NFL Game Day Morning Programme. Pre-game to Super Bowl 55 coverage.
He is back here on the show. How are you, Irv? Rich, how are you, buddy? Rich, I wish I was on this set with you right now, Rich. And I mean, kudos.
We got where we're getting through it But it's just different. Like last year in Miami, when I came on that set, oh my god, that was insane. It was beautiful. It was beautiful. I mean, it was different, but that was beautiful.
And I miss it. Yeah, me too. And you do that. I know you come on the set all the time. And then last night for opening night, I know we replayed your Zoom with both coaches and your Zoom with Mike Evans.
Normally, you'd be literally standing next to them and, you know, able to give that Michael Irvin look. And your enthusiasm is infectious in person. And the interviews become that much more personal. But it is what it is, Irv. And we've got ourselves an incredible matchup.
What was, I guess, I mean, there's nothing like it, right? There's nothing like it. Everywhere I go, even if you get in the car with a driver, that's always talking, man. I can't believe we have this Super Bowl. And I know we love this thing, the golden key.
And I don't know. I worry a little bit about passing. Patrick Mahomes mom. Us calling him kids. She got mad when we called the Pat.
You know what I'm saying? This thing is so serious. But it's the greatest matchup, man. For this kind of a year, Rich, to have this matchup is almost like God is saying, okay, I know it's been hard on you. Let me give you this.
And gave us this. And so, as we know, Mahomes is trying to become the first quarterback to go back-to-back since Brady. And before that, It was Brady first time since Elway, and before that, it was Elway first time since. Aikman, so what goes through the mind of a champion? When they know they have an opportunity to repeat, what is what walk me through the process of what the chiefs.
might be thinking at this very moment, Tuesday before an opportunity to make history. And a couple of things here. First of all, as a team, and we talked about someone on opening night last night, you watching those guys interact. It it it is almost like and I know we felt this way. This is all we've been waiting for.
We had to deal with all that other stuff. Just to get to here. When we were Super Bowl champions, like, okay, we just want to get back to defending our championship. And that's right here at the Super Bowl. That's all you think about.
Now get this now. There's so much with Patrick Mahomes though, Because for him. For him, do you imagine? Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, all these guys been in the league this long. They've been great for so long.
and they let this kid come in and his third time around started. snatched his second Super Bowl already? Oh my god. Rick. That's insane, Rich.
That's insane. Because Tom Brady has moved the ball, when has moved the move the bar. You know, when the bar was four Super Bowls. Bye bye. Montana and and and in uh Bresso.
Getting warm was good. But now the bar is at least six, it may even be seven. You gotta have at least two to be in the conversation.
So Pat gets his second. That that'll be big for him. And obviously, just though, the the concept of of making history like that by going back to back which which you did And then, you know, again, what what do you think is Tyree Kill's mindset knowing, okay. Knowing the first quarter he had in week 12, that he look, I know you want to be respectful of your opponent and that teams are much better when you face them in the Super Bowl than when you saw them in the regular season. But don't you think deep down he knows he's got these guys?
Louise lacing him up. Yes, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Material, what if he may be thinking too rich? Yes.
Like like think about this now. And this is what I I would be thinking too. Like there's no way they're going to play me like that again. Because there's no way. I know that's what they do.
They like to bring pressure, but there's no way they're going to do that again because I would love to see them do it here. Because I didn't get the MVP of the Super Bowl last time, but he'll get it if he does that here. Because those a lot of get some nice D passes across the middle last time on them. But yeah, if he comes up with 207 yards in the first quarter. What a oh my god.
Yeah, the first look he had that that was the first quarter. He had he had most of those yards. First quarter. He was off the chain.
So but but there's no way Tampa's going they Tampa. If Tampa does that, all the coaches are going to just go lay down their hats. Right there in the hallway and said, We done.
Well, he is thinking exactly what you said, Michael. I don't know if you caught that in his opening day, opening night Zoom. I did catch that, Rick. Yeah, I caught him talking about it. Like, yeah, let me get it now.
He said, That's what he said. He said, If I do it again, I'm going to be the MVP of the Super Bowl, which he wants. Like, you know, like, and the last time this game was played in this stadium, the MVP was a wide receiver in San Antonio Holmes.
So, I mean, there's even precedence in this stadium, and he's thinking it. He's imagining it right now. And I just, again, I can't imagine, like I said, what it's like staring at the ceiling, trying to get some rest. this week knowing that the game has so much on the line for history. to back to back.
I love talking about it. That's why I thought it was interesting, Rich, when we talked when we saw it last night. When you know, because of this year and everything's different, but Kansas City says they're not coming in until Saturday. You know, you're talking about staring at the ceiling and wondering about it. You'll be staring here in Tampa at Tom everywhere.
You know, so they were like, Hey, we're gonna make this a normal thing, and we're not coming in a Saturday. Because I think that's the biggest thing they have to worry about. The aura of all of this that's going on around Tom Brady being here in Tampa, and then you got to figure out a way to break the will. Of those guys because they have that game at home. That's going to be incredible.
Michael Irvin, my Hall of Fame friend, NFL Game Name Morning, eight and a half hours. You know we're going to be talking about other stuff on it on Super Sunday, so I might as well just hit you with one that we're definitely going to hit. What advice do you have for Deshaun Watson right now? Right now, Michael Irving. If you had him in a room, what would you say?
I was talking about this yesterday with somebody. They said, well, what chances do you give to Sean Watson of coming back? I said, let me tell you what. I gave him twenty five percent chance, right? Possibly coming back.
Let me tell you why I give that twenty five percent. First of all, You don't want to leave that money on the table. Thank God. You don't want to leave money on the table. He just got it.
I saw this man crying in September. And I said this. I give it the twenty-five percent because if I'm on that team, If I'm on their team, Man, I got all the guys together, man. And and I know they can't find the Sean, but we will find this Sean. And we're gonna all go and get down on her knee.
And we're going to all have a box. And we're gonna open the box. And we're gonna say to Shah, please don't leave us. We know there's no ring in this box. But if you don't come back, there'll never be a ring in this box.
But if you come back, And we're going to work hard. We'll have a chance. And then they're going to have to get rid of Easter Beef. DNL have a shot. That's just what it is.
Does that come in a box? Getting rid of the guy in the front office that nobody's really ever heard of until you just hear nothing good about him in public? I don't think you can get that in a box. I don't know. I'm telling you about it.
I'm just trying to help them figure out a way to try to calm this thing down and try to get him back. What a question. If he leaves Houston and Rich. Yes. If he if I'm Deshaun and I'm leaving Houston, I I hear him talking Miami in the in the jet.
I'm I'm trying to do I'm getting in the NFC. Guys are leaving NFC. You know, Drew Brees, Aaron Rod, they're leaving. I'm getting in this NFC, boy, and I'm going to tear it up and I'll meet. Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl instead of trying to fight him to get to a Super Bowl.
Well, and I think th the NFC where the best quarterbacks are getting longer in the tooth. Um, you know, mostly. uh is a reason why I think the Rams went and rolled the dice with um with Stafford. Just getting him and get the upgrade that you think you need or that you believe Stafford is and go for it right now. Like, literally, right here and right now.
That's why I think they're. Especially after watching what Tom just did. They're like, well, wait a minute. You know what I mean? Listen, wait a minute.
Let's try this. Whatever it takes. I guarantee you, they didn't want to give that Nick that second, first rounder. They didn't want to give it up. But But when it came to it, They said, what do we do here?
And they looked at what Tom has done, and that sealed the deal. Tom made that deal for Stafford. Get done. Because that's exactly what they did, Rich. Just what you said.
They're looking around like, oh, they're not serious. Man, we can get this guy over here, put it with our team right now. And we can see these battles in the Super Bowl. That's exactly what they're being. Right.
Even though Tom is one of those quarterbacks getting longer in the tooth whose teeth are the greatest teeth of all time, right? I mean, he's just, he doesn't get old. He's getting older, but he doesn't get old, if you understand what I'm saying. And I think that you're also just seeing when if you get the right quarterback with the mix around, it's just ready to go, you can get to the Super Bowl. And I think in the minute and a half I have left with you here, Irv, that's what kind of ruffled Aaron Rodgers' feathers is, you know, even though he hadn't mentioned Jordan Love all year long, and that was supposed to be something he was at peace with, that he brought up his future after losing, because he saw right in front of him a team that went all in for a GOAT that just.
arrived on their scene, hasn't put in over a decade. And that guy and that team beat him. That's what I'm beginning to think as well. Michael. Yeah, and and I understand.
I absolutely believe that's what Aaron is, too. You know, especially after what you did to Aaron in the draft, and Aaron this was Aaron's turn to come back and do what he did to you. And that's a power struggle going on over there. I I I I knew it was the is the first shot across the bow. Remember we were on a groove test.
Soon as he made those comments on the group text, I hear Uh oh. The first shot across the bow. That was it at the first side for that power struggle. I've seen it, Rich. I've seen it.
I know back-to-back championship games. I've seen it at the back-to-back Super Bowl. You see what I'm saying? I've seen it. And at first, when it started happening then, I was like, okay, everybody's just talking.
Calm down. This will never happen. Nothing will ever happen. And then I was watching Jimmy walk out the door. I was headed over to the facility.
They were trying to talk to me. I was tossing garbage cans at the media. Get the hell out of here. It was your fault. It was their fault.
Y'all just destroyed everything.
So I keep saying, I know Aaron Rodgers is all going to work out. But man, I just you know, there's always this slim possibility. of something happening, even though they would be crazy to let Aaron Rodgers move around. you never know. Michael Irvin, eight and a half hours of NFL Game Day morning.
I look forward to seeing you down in Tampa. Do you have just a couple more minutes, two more minutes left, Irv, or you got to run? Where are you going? Oh, no, no, I got to run.
Okay, so stay on hold. It's a peacock-only special. Our radio audience, though, we will let you know. Viggo Mortensen will join us, the actor in hour number three, and we'll talk about him being at the miracle on ice. Um and that's one of those groundhog day type of Events where you just want to keep reliving it over and over again.
Your phone calls in hour number three coming up right here on the radio. But we're still here on Peacock. Irv, what's your Groundhog Day? What would be the one day game that you ever either attended or played in that you'd want to play over and over again, like Groundhog Day? You wake up and you live it.
Oh, that's okay, man.
Well, my the game. that I want to play over and over again is that first Super Bowl. You can net that you could put that on a loop. And I would be in loot I I will loop to heaven. It would be heaven for me.
Just put that one on a loop. Why is that? Just because it was the first one? It was an affirmation of a dream? Or what?
What would it be? All of that, Rich. All of that at one time. I was telling somebody when I scored that first touchdown, I don't know why. You know what went through my head, Rich?
When I scored that first touchdown in that first Super Bowl, I was just on a slant route. I went across the end zone. And for some reason, All the times I tossed a rock in the neighborhood and broke somebody's window, and they came to my mom's house and said, Boy, that boy ain't going to never be nothing. I said, nah, they saw that. They had to see that.
So it was just a window. It led me to this. They should be aggressive. That's what I swear. I don't know why I was thinking about that.
But that was the thought I had. And then after that Super Bowl, To just sit there, man, after going 3 and 13 and 1 and 15 and playing in my yard all of those years, you see the depth of the pain of all of that losing. was only matched by the height. Of the love and the victory and the joy and overcoming and all of that that we shared. It was incredible.
I would relive that every day. See, that's why we, Chris Brockman, we had the question to be positive: like, what would you want to relive? Not what would be the moment that you wouldn't want to relive over and over again, like, say, that NFC championship game in San Francisco where Irv says he was pass interfered with by Deion and Deion says he was not. What do you think Irv said? Dion said he didn't interfere with you.
He lied. What do you mean? He was bad for a pen. Irv, he said it was a legal, like, quick on bar. That's all it was.
That's what he said.
So you don't. And Rich, I relive that one every day anyway. Unfortunately, I don't want to relive that one. But that's the one I'm forced to relive. I think about it every day.
I'd like bringing it up too. Love you, Irv. I'll see you in Tampa. See you in a couple of days. All right, buddy.
See you. Miguel, that's Michael Irvin, everybody. What are the main? Oh, by the way, when he and Dion are going to be in a commercial break together and that thing gets brought up like discuss. Oh.
baby be of you want to be a fly on that wall fantastic The actor Vigo Mortensen. Hour number three, your calls. Coming up.
