So this is good. This is the Rich Eisen Show. The Miami Dolphins clearly feel that Ramsey's departure is an addition by subtraction. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Steelers radio network host and longtime chronicler of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jerry Dulak, back in the program.

You know, if they're on the back nine of their career, to me, they're putting out on the 12th green. Earlier on the show, senior NBA writer for the athletic, Sam Amick. Coming up. Actor Brian Baumgartner. Oklahoma City Thunder Center, Isaiah Hartenstein.

And now. It's Rich Eisen. That's right. Hour number two of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Just had a hugout with Brian Baumgartner in our green room back here on the Rich Eisen Show, one of our favorites.

Brian is here in support of the American Century Championship, which goes down in Lake Tahoe.

Next week, you can check that out on NBC and the golf channel, and it's the 36th. American Century Championship. I believe Brian is nearing the big 2-0 of the number of times that he's been there. I might be. Selling it short, but uh, Brian's about to come out here, talk some golf, talk some.

good times with him. And get some advice from him. As a matter of fact, the last round of golf I played was with Brian Baumgartner. prior to me taking lessons.

So He has seen the suck up close and personal. But I'm better. I'm better. I promise. I promise.

I hope so. I hope so. I don't think I'll be paired with him. I don't think he wants me to pair him with him. Do we know pairings yet?

I don't know.

Well, ask him. When do pairings come out and all that stuff? He knows. I mean, he's here in support of it, and he's been there over and over again.

So he's coming out here shortly. Isaiah Hartenstein of your world champion, Oklahoma City Thunder, will be joining us an hour this year. Number three, you got any clipper questions? In the chamber for him? What do you think?

I'm sure he is not even thinking about his time at all. Not at all. He got a chip. 844-204-Rich is the number to dial. Chris, I'll give you the choice.

I give you the choice because I think some people want to play the win-loss game. Go for it. Oh, I was looking up your odds to win the American thing. I wouldn't if I were you. You're actually not last.

What? Let's go, Colts win-loss. All right, here we go. Patrick in Charlotte, North Carolina. What's going on, sir?

Don't be fair. Hey, Mr. Eisen. Hi, fellas. How are you doing today?

What's up? Mr. Eisen. What am I my dad teaching you French? What is that?

Oh, yeah. You know, I just a little respect. I appreciate it. Listen, Patrick, if you want to show me respect. I need you to crush the win-loss game and play it with passion.

Okay, well, I'll tell you this: I'm a realist, okay? I'm not like one of these Yahoo's that come on, say 17-0.

Okay, 17-0. Keep it real. Patrick in Charlotte, keeping it real for the Indianapolis Colts? Why are you a Colts fan, Patrick?

Well, it goes back down to. I used to live in Pennsylvania.

Okay. And. My dad did not like the Eagles and did not like the Steelers.

Okay. And the closest team that was nearby was the Baltimore Colts. Oh, Baltimore.

Okay, so your dad passed it down to you. I got it. All right, here we go. Give some music. Here's Patrick and Charlotte keeping it real and playing with Patch and to pay respects.

Uh what happens when uh they open up at home against the Dolphins?

Well, Mr. Eisen, I'll tell you this. They haven't won an opening game in probably 10 seasons. It's going to stay that way. They're going to take a loss right here.

All right, home for the Denver Broncos. Denver Broncos, another loss. Denver's pretty good. Got better in last season. They're going to take a loss.

All right.

So then we're in desperate measures on the first road trip at Tennessee for Shane Steichen starting 0-2. What do you got? I'm going to take the first win. I think Tennessee's still in the rebuild mode. One and two at the Rams.

Bram. I'm going to take a loss here. One and three home for the Raiders. I'm going to say it's going to be a close one. It's going to be a win.

Two and three, home for the Cardinals. Oh, that's a win. Come on. Wow. Three and three now at the Chargers.

Chargers, they always playing bad. I'm going to take a loss here. 3-4, home for the Titans. They're going to clean sweep here. Another win.

All right, so we're back to 500 at the Steelers. With the addition to Rogers I'm I'm gonna say this is a loss. Four and five in Berlin. Against the Falcons. We do go overseas.

I'm going to take a win here. All right, so now we can finish strong, bro. I mean, we're coming off the bye at 5-5 at the Chiefs. What happens? All right, off the bye.

Mr. Mahomes has never won against the Colts in the regular season, and that. Remains the same. This is a win. Ooh, for the Colts.

Six and five. Home for the Texans. You're riding high.

Okay, so text means As eye detectors. Know your home. Home food. I'm gonna take a loss here.

Okay, six and six at the Jaguars. Haven't won in 14 seasons in Jacksonville. I'm going to take another loss here. Six and seven at the Seahawks. This will be a win, a big upset.

Oh, seven and seven. Home for the Niners on a Monday night. I'm going to say a win here. This is another upset one. 8-7, home for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This is another win. 9-7, three wins in a row at the Texans. This has got to be for the playoffs. Win or lose, Patrick. We have been in this situation a hundred times, and I've been heartbroken a hundred times, and unfortunately, another loss.

Patrick and Charlotte. Has the Cults at 9 and 8. A lot of real talk in there. Thanks, Patrick. I have one question, Mr.

Eisen. It sounds like Mr. Jones is going to be our starting quarterback. Yes. If he has a.

Saequon type of year. This year. Right. Does that put more pressure on the giant's front office? No.

Because they got Jackson Dark. That page is turned, pal.

Okay. Yeah. Thanks for the call, Patrick. Appreciate it. That's Patrick and Charlotte.

And I do think Daniel Jones gets the start because guess what? I think he's going to beat out Anthony Richardson. And then, guess what? If he doesn't do well, it's easier to go from Jones to Richardson rather than the other way around. You know, if you wanted the competition, you wanted Richardson to sort of have his lapels snapped and pay attention and, like, hey.

Just because you drafted where you were drafted doesn't give you the uh Tenure here. It's not just your turf to have, you have to earn it. Um At some point, it needs to be sat because of a lack of production. Going to Richardson is a better move, I think. All those things together.

And one last thing. That's now twice we've had win-loss. for the Colts and both Colts fans who called in gave them a loss at home to the Miami Dolphins to start the season. And You know, the dolphins to me are still a bit of a mystery.

Okay. Now, them playing indoors in that fast team, that's going to be a tough. That's going to be a tough team to stop.

Okay. But that's the day Jim Ursai goes in the ring of honor. It is going to be a highly charged crowd. and a highly emotional day. In Indianapolis to start the season.

And Lucas Oil is going to be in full frenzy when Toe meets Ball.

So the dolphins are going to have to start fast. Is that the earliest week one preview for their Colts Dolphins game they've ever given in the history of the Rich Isen Show? July 2nd. Thank you. This game's on September 7th.

But I'm just. for future win-loss players. I would kind of give the Colts a win in that day, but we just don't, you know, Daniel Jones, we don't.

Okay. We'll see. Wouldn't it be amazing if Daniel Jones has a Saquon-like year, gets another contract, and the Giants fans are honestly. Does it, does it, you tell me define Saquon type year? A, a, a year, like 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Here's why he says Saquon type year. What he means is not like the equivalent of quarterbacking of 2,000 yards. That's not what it is. What it is, is like free of the. Giants Morass.

Okay, now in a new spot. And look at him go. That's what it means, Saquon Taipeier, I believe. Not statistically, but just the general. Spirit of no longer In the Giants Morass.

And Off you go. Redeeming. Thank you, sir. And then the Steelers trade for Anthony Richardson. But so, so I don't know.

He would be available. These are not crazy thoughts. Everything that we're just saying are not crazy thoughts. But if the Colts then give Daniel Jones a contract. And he's like, is that egg on the giant's front office?

Well, if the Giants have already moved on with Jackson Dart and they look pretty damn good with him. They're not having any egg on their face, A. And B, do you think the Giants fans would be like, Good luck, Colts, because we know what one good season from Daniel Jones in a contract year looks like. After. Yeah.

And the Giants are still probably feeling pretty good with Malik Neighbors and Bill Carter. We would have to at least see it again. Yeah. Out of Daniel Jones. At any rate.

I have a power rankings list. in advance of Brian Baumgautner joining us in studio. Power Rankings are the top non-quarterbacks in the National Football League entering 2025 heading. Ah! This is my favorite.

Maybe you liked it, but this one is not power ranking. I gotta be honest with you. We're getting near the part of the calendar where the power rankings are gonna be back to top 10 teams in the NFL. You know, like we're getting close. We're getting close to just the traditional power rankings.

But while we're waiting, stuff like this. Power rankings of the top non-QBs in the NFL entry 2025. Number 10 on the list is the reigning defensive player of the year. I'm putting Patrick Stertan the second right here to start us off with a nice bang. I don't know how he couldn't be on this list.

I know everybody thinks the Broncos are still needing to prove something, and you know, no one talks about them. But I would say this. It will be a toss-up between um The uh first drafted Fantasy Entity for the Broncos, would it be the defense or Bo Nicks? in your fantasy draft. Good one.

So I'm putting Patrick Sertan the second right here. I like it. He needs to be on the list. Correct. Number nine.

He's not going to be on many other people's lists because once you have a season racked with injury, people forget about you and just like, okay, that doesn't matter what happened before. How do you not think Christian McCaffrey is still one of the top non-quarterbacks in the National Football League, if healthy? I'm putting it. I haven't forgotten about you, Christian. He's gonna have a chip on his shoulder too.

I understand. Oh, God.

Now, two Achilles-type injuries. Look out, right? I get it. I get it. I don't know, TJ.

Uh-huh. I got it. I'm putting McCaffrey here. I can't, I'm not going to forget about it. All right.

Number eight, the first pass rusher on the list. Your guy, Micah, the lion of Dallas. I'm putting Micah Parsons right here.

Okay. Number eight on the list. Putting above him, number seven on the list, TJ Watt. Flip a coin if you want. I understand one's younger than the other.

I understand TJ Watt had a bit of a drop-off last year. Micah's on the rise because he's younger. I don't. I don't know, man. I could have said TJ Watt eight and Micah Parsons seven.

You want to argue it? I don't know.

Somebody would, so don't worry about it.

Okay, I know you would. You know. Those are my guys there. And then I'm putting another pass rusher here again, number six on the list. The Condor.

Max Crosby. I think he's set for a monster. Season. Another step up. He is exactly the type of guy.

That Pete Carroll loves to have. I don't know if that's true. And tell me, tell me if you can make an argument: is this the best edge rusher? Pete Carroll's Everhead? It's a hard to answer.

It's not the blue right now. Because you're talking about Legion of Boom in Seattle. You're not talking about edge rusher who can come up with 20 sacks in Seattle. You just don't. No, I mean, Michael Bennett was pretty awesome.

I got it. Max Cross and is also the type of guy who I think is the. is a guy who's going to be gobbling up what Pete is selling. Love Max. Might have had the other two guys ahead of him.

Okay. Number five on the list: another defender. Never really gets set enough defensive player of the year, love. I gotta put a chief here: Chris Jones. Chris Jones is needed.

He needs to be on the list. Chris Jones is right there at number five. He cracks the top five exactly. And not on my power record because he's listed number five here. All right, now there's gonna be a run of offense.

I went all over the place on this one, like back and forth, but I'm putting Jamar Chase here, and I know that might be too low for some.

Okay, some might have him number one. I got it. But Jamar Chase is four. Saquon is three. Saquon is three.

Number two is Justin Jefferson. That's the way I'm ranking them. I'm going Jamar fourth. Saquon 3. Justin Jefferson 2.

Okay. And I think the only reason why people wouldn't have Justin Jefferson atop all these folks is because they don't believe in the trigger man in Minnesota. But Justin Jefferson is still. The man. The best.

The guy. At the position in the NFL with all due respect. And the fact that he's above Saquon also shows you how much I appreciate him. And number one on the list is Miles Garrett. I think that's right.

Dude is 29 years old and he turns 30th on the 29th of December. He's just large and in charge. And I think with Mason Graham in the middle of that line, he's just going to... He's gonna feast in a way that That Makes him think, okay, I did come back. for um Championships.

Instead of being the champion of my bank account. Miles Garrett is the top player in the NFL that's not a quarterback coming into 2025. Here we go. And the same way that you forget about him, you forget about him, and he always packs a wallop. Whenever he shows up on screen, you're like, oh man.

Don't do it. Yeah, please don't. Oh yeah. Chris. I do.

He's gonna do it. It is. Oh, let me grab this kendo. It's Einstein. Don't forget to go.

We're doing so well, bro. We are doing so well. You're the worst. I don't think so. I don't think so.

Personally, if there's any word for it, I think it's brilliant. Brilliant! That's right. The fact that it took me that long to realize that that's a good idea. No, okay.

People don't talk about him because of his age, right? He does pack a wallop. Oh, you actually have one? It's Derrick Henry. Derrick Henry is one more.

Oh, interesting. Derrick Henry is one more buddy. Interesting.

So. I would have had Derrick Henry instead of CMC, and then you're missing a lineman. I would have loved to have seen Trent Williams, Tristan Wurfs, or Lane Johnson, or one of those guys. I got you. I got you.

I'm going to give you one more, too. On top of the one. You have one more. I did not notice. That's my boy.

A flyer. A flyer. I'm taking a flyer. At the end of the day, Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter.

may wind up on this list.

Okay. Yeah. Alright. Sure. Because everybody I just said does only one thing.

Unless you want to say, oh, Chris Jones rushes the passer and stops the run. I mean, you could say that about any of the defenders. Yeah, that's true. Travis Hunter by the end of the day. of the 2025 season.

Maybe on future such lists. for years to come. I can't wait to see it. And that's my power rankings of the top non-quarterbacks in the NFL entering 2025. Don't do it, he says.

He says, Don't do it. It's just like that moment when it hits. I am going to keep all Giamali's Einstein alive for a long time. Yeah, that's the problem. I'm still scarred by it.

Is Paul paying you royalties to keep this going? I think the other Paul who would love to have me keep going is Rudd. You know, he loves that. He loves that bit. Yeah.

That's right. It will never be that, sir. Cop pulled never. Yeah. Yeah.

Okay, I just giggled at that. I made myself giggle. Brian Baumgartner, a great human, one of our favorites, back on the Rich Eisen Show. We're going to talk golf. We're going to talk American.

Brian Baukai. Thank you. Thank you, man. I know you're about to hit it straight. I'm going to just pipe one right down the middle, Rich.

Jam straight. You know me. I do know you. You are piping it. Good to see you, man.

Good to see you. How's it going? I'm fired up. Yeah. I am.

I'll be honest. I have had people ask me because the last round of golf I've played was with you. Yes. And it was one of those moments where I thought to myself, you know. What am I thinking?

Self. But self, like, what am I thinking saying yes to the American Century Championship? Except for the fact, it's just a great time. You know, it's an incredible time. Oh, my God.

It's my favorite. I describe it as my favorite week of the year. It is the hardest week. Why? Not to scare you.

Um. There's just a lot. I mean, look, I don't know, spoiler alert, we're not professional athletes. And so. Except there are many professional athletes in the field.

Right. And even they actually get nervous. My favorite thing, actually, is having the professional athletes complain about having to walk the eight-mile walk around. It's not the same as little spurts of snow. Speed hitting someone or whatever.

In the altitude, yeah, I mean, there's an endurance factor.

So there's that. There's a lot of people, and you know, they very clearly. Don't want interaction with the fans. They want it run on time, on schedule. Shout out to Mike Millthorpe.

We'll do our best. But still, you're signing stuff, you're taking pictures. There's like a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a show. It's a show. We're putting on a show.

At least me. I understand why I'm there. And I'm, I'm going to take the same approach. I know there's a Wednesday night conversation between the tournament and us, right? Yeah.

In the field. That's where we're going to hear, like, keep it moving a little bit. Keep it moving. But I'm a people. I'm a crowd pleaser, man.

Yeah. I'd like to think I am. You know, I mean, you know, but I cannot wait for it. Brian Baumgartner is here. The 36th American Century Championship Tournament begins next week, Wednesday, July 9th, through Sunday, and it's played at the beautiful lakefront at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Check it out on NBC. Brian Baumgartner is here. What number tournament is this for you? This is 18. 18.

Rich. Yeah. One. It's per hole. It only.

Yeah, I wish it only means I'm old. I think it is such a pleasure to be out there, but I need to talk to you about the first T-shot.

Okay. Oh. Because the number of listen, the last round of golf I played was with you. Yes. And so you've seen the challenges.

Yeah. And so the few people who have done this before said to me, What were you thinking? About doing that. You're going to be nervous. You're going to be fine.

Here's the thing: it is the stableford format, right? Which means it's essentially by whole. The most difficult thing to do. Yes. is when a hole is over and has gone poorly.

as they will for all of us. You have to forget it. You have to forget it and move on and make part of the next hole. There is a cap. Double bogey is, it's not like you can make a 12.

If you make double bogey, you go minus. You pick up? You pick up.

Okay. Double bogey. That's the worst. The worst you can get on a hole is minus two points. Minus two points.

Yeah. Yeah. Why do I not remember? I did this 21 years ago. You did before.

It was such a fog. My memory of it is such a only thing I remember. Um, you know, screw it. I'm going to be totally honest here. I played with Derek Brooks and Jason Taylor two days in a row because we were right around the same talent level.

Had the same success. Only time I could ever say those words about me, Derek Brooks, Jason Taylor, right around the same talent level. And I didn't know you could bring your own caddy. Yeah. So I got one assigned to me from the golf course.

Great dude whose name escapes me. He helped me out immeasurably. And me being a Michigan man, he put wind beneath my wings to tell me just what a horrible. Horrible person, it was to loot for Lou Holtz the year before. And it was made you happy.

Oh, it was like when I was thinking how bad am I, I'm like, at least I've got a smile on my face and I'm going to tip the guy at the end of the round.

Well, yeah. I mean, so I don't mean to drag you into my pettiness, but no, so I've done that. Other than that, I don't remember much about it. No, when I started, I was like, yeah, I need a local guy who knows the greens. And he was great.

Yeah. But I bring a buddy now. You're out there a long time. I say you're like four and a half? I think 18 hours.

No. But the neat thing is, it's a great watch. And I'm excited because it's a great watch on TV. It's a great watch on TV. It's unbelievable.

And it just looks so much fun to play in it. And that I do remember. It was fun, fun, fun to play in it. The experience, the people that I have met there. Um, that's what keeps bringing me back.

I'll tell you this quick story. I don't remember if I told you this before. Please, last year, uh, after the round. Thunderstorms are coming over the mountain, and they know there's going to be lightning. We are sort of told they're going to blow the horn.

And I was done for the day. Yes. And I'm sitting in the bag room, like, okay, we need to get out of here before they blow the horns. And everybody's trying to get out. Let's go over to Edgewood Lodge.

I'm talking to Dylan Dreyer from the Today Show. Nice. And I say, you know, let's get into the lodge. Let's have. Let's get an espresso martini and get ahead of the group.

Yes. And in the back, we thought we were the only ones in there. In the back of the room, I hear. I'm in. Or like who's?

Turn around, look in the back. It's Baker Mayfield. Oh. Baker and I had not had not talked to that point, had not really hung out. We'd said like the, you know, like casual hellos over the years.

Yeah. We went in, we had an espresso martini or Two and hung out the rest of the week and texting during the season this year. Like, yeah, like really had a real friendship born out of this dumb moment there where we just wanted to have an espresso martini. And that, to me, that story is like what the event is: it's quarterbacks, it's, it's, you know, NFL legends, NBA legends, other actors. Singers.

It's really, it's really special. Is that where you became friendly with Rogers? It is. Through this American Central Journal. My very first one.

In fact, the day that we met, Was the day, this is 2008, the day that Favre said, I'm not retiring. We were sitting next to each other at a blackjack table. There are blackjack tables there in Lake Tahoe. Yes, sir. And he is sitting next to me, and I don't know who he is.

I don't know.

Aaron Rodgers.

Well, I knew once he introduced himself, like, oh, you're the Cow guy 18 years ago. You're Favre's back. Like, I knew who he was, but I didn't recognize him. Yes. He was a fan of the office, and we just.

Started a relationship there. And on the screens, they had, like, you know, a.

Well, a TV show station that was running Sports on Loop. You can figure out which one it is. And they were saying, like, Favre is not retiring. What's happening to Aaron Rodgers? And we're literally sitting next to each other.

Unbelievable. On that day. And that is when we became friends. Yeah. Is that right?

Yep. 100%. Was it an awkward moment, or were you just like during the day? It was more like I, and look, with all those guys, like. To me, the fact that I've gotten to know, like, the last thing I'm ever going to do is like, hey, what's your game plan this week?

I've got, I've got, you know, now we're going to do Saquon on fantasy or Brits Hall on fantasy. Like, what are we going to do? You know, like, no, that's their business.

So I don't ever do, I don't ever engage in that way, but it was very, so I didn't say to him, like, what are you going to do? Like, Farb's not coming back. And it was. pretty quick. I might be from it, right?

Or something like that. That looks Rogers young enough. Rogers. That was, he ended up coming with me. I'm going to forget what it was.

I think it was an Emmy party.

Okay, cool. Party for the Emmys or maybe the Screen Actors Guild Award or something like that. I literally was going to say to you. Here is hire. He probably bonded over it.

Like he strikes me as an office guy. Like he would like the office, you know? Yeah, I mean, I don't think this is. I don't think I can say this. I got him on the show.

He was on the show the second to the last episode. They had it scripted. That we read the script for the last, the last or second to the last, I think they ended up putting him in two episodes that kind of took the story. Yes. And they had another athlete scripted.

And I knew him. I knew he was a fan. He had come and visited Set and. And I went to Greg Daniels and I said, So, is this name here? This other act, is this just a name, or would you be open to Aaron coming?

And he was like, if he would do it, totally. And I acted as the casting director. I remember calling, having conversations with Allison Jones where she's like, All right, well, tell him this is the money. And I was like, No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, if he wants to do it, he can make a phone call to you. You guys can do it.

And I know, I don't think he would be bummed that I said this too. He never cashed the check. He had it. He had it framed. Dude, that makes sense, too.

I mean, you know, it's not like he's. Needing it. Wow. You know what I mean? Yeah.

So, but that makes sense. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. That's cool, man. Yeah.

Oh, man.

So maybe that's why Baker was saying hi to you because he thought maybe you could put him in something. You got to get in the cast. You can get him in something. That's true. I never heard that.

I thought, man, you make. Kings. I never thought about it. He didn't really like me. He just wanted a job.

Or maybe it was the espresso martinez talking. Yeah, probably. That was fun, man. Brian Baumgartner here on the Rich Eisen show. I know we haven't talked about it off because we don't talk about your show or back in the day with the office, but we might have talked about it the last time you had your cookbook.

But the scene with spilling the beans all over the floor. Did you? How many takes did that take? Did you, did you? That was one take.

That was a one because you knew that was one take.

Well, like there was a lot, there was a lot of pressure that day, and it was that there was a lot of whispering because I was there by myself. There was nobody else. The rest of the cast, they were all gone. And I remember. I remember Phil Shea, who worked in props, and the set decorators kind of coming over to me, like back channeling.

And they were like, Brian. We have three carpets. I was like, what are you talking about? We have three carpets. And they had assembled, I mean, in this studio, like carpets that would be bigger than this that went from the front door around like the reception desk over to where Dwight and Jim's desk was to Michael's office because they didn't know exactly how I would spill it.

And like me spilling on the real carpet would be an unmitigated disaster.

So they had that.

So what you're seeing there, that's all carpet on top of carpet. Yeah. And they had three, they were very concerned that if they got, if they, if we didn't get it in three takes, that we would be screwed. And I think there were people who didn't know there were only three. And so they came, and obviously it was just about the spill.

Thankfully, that worked out. And I think, as you can see there, I think we had extra clothes. Oh, you can look at my hands. That was the thing I remember for days. My hands were an orangey color.

You couldn't wash it off. No, I mean, I remember they had a, you know, sometimes they had a playback thing set up so they could see what they had. And I remember as like wardrobe is peeling the clothes off me. And I'm looking and I'm like, please say we got it. Please say we got it.

Please say we got it. And they were like, okay, we got it. And then like, I've never showered with more people. They're just as they're peeling stuff off and trying to get yeah. And I had a dinner actually with Oscar Nunez and Angela Kinsey that we had prearranged because, of course, they had a short day that day at Mastro's in Beverly Hills.

And I, uh, I, I show up still smelling of, of, of chili. You know, Oscar, I remember he ordered like the, he's, he makes these like grand geese. He's like, yes, we'll have the seafood tower, you know, like the raw thing. Couldn't it was just like I couldn't eat it. It was the smell.

It was It's a mix of hours-old chili. Hours-old, yes. Oh, my. Not homemade, warm, delicious chili. I'm sure you get that all the time.

What is your favorite? office episode or scene. If you could choose one, the one that you're like, that's the one. Yeah, it's tough to say, Rich, but I. That one, I never imagined that that would.

We would still be talking about that one. Probably the one that I think back on now. Actually, I'll be slightly sentimental. I think a lot of the. The scene in the finale where we're all together, and Creed plays this song that was an original song that he did, which was the sort of like sentimental moment.

I remember that, but also in terms of, I will never forget me sitting on Corell's lap as he's dressed as Santa and that. The comedy of that and me not being able to not laugh, and then feeling bad because I keep having to sit on his lap. It was a whole thing, but how many?

So, how many takes did you get through all that? That one was more like a hundred.

Well, it definitely was not, it was not one, and I think that's one, uh, even in the end. that you st you can still see people laugh. Actually the the one where I Never couldn't laugh. Um. Kevin is at the vending machine with Holly and Holly Believes that Kevin has some issues and he has money in his hand.

He's trying to decide, Kevin, speaking of myself in the third person, weird, but. trying to decide what to get and she goes through and she says this is a quarter. And she's telling me what the value of the money I have in my hand. And then she picks up and says, This is a button. And it was something about the kindness in her eyes and her having, and just the joke of her having to explain.

That this was a button that I might not know. I couldn't not laugh. I couldn't not laugh. And finally, I realized that that was gonna cut directly into. I'm totally gonna bang Holly.

And so I was like, well, if I can just make this a wry smile and not a full-on laugh, I think that'll cut together pretty well.

So that one for me, I never got through that and didn't smile. By the way, just hearing the Kevin voice just come back like that. I know. Oh, my God. Actually, Baker's wife, when she met me after the espresso martini incident last year, was like.

You don't really talk like that? I was like, no, I don't really talk like that. Did your husband go like this around the house? Character.

So funny. All right, in the few minutes we have left here, Brian. You last saw what my swing looked like. Yes. Okay.

And you were kind. You were kind because I wasn't turning on the ball. You were turning, but you were aware of you not turning. Correct. Yes.

I'm, you know, and with some choice words. For myself. For yourself about turning.

Okay. I have, and that day. That day. As soon as I got off the course, I called my wife and I called Susie and I said to her, I have to take lessons. I've got to do this and I'm going to work it into our schedule.

And she's just like, You have, she's basically, her answer is like, what have I been telling you?

So, so, like, I'm like, I have, like, seriously, that day, I'm like, I cannot. Keep this. I can't show up in Tahoe at the American Century Championship this way.

So I have taken several lessons. Lucas Wald, what's up? Shout out to Lucas. I want to show you. I want to show you.

This was my final swing of my last lesson from two days ago. Oh, okay.

So I want you to see it, and I want you to give me your honest assessment if this looks anything like the guy you saw right here. 250 with a draw. He wants 250 with a draw. Here we go. That's a turn, Rich.

There you go. It's going to the right a little, but that's okay. It's findable. It's right down the middle. It's, yeah, it's findable.

You know what they say? Yeah. That'll play. That'll play, right? If it's 250 on a screen up in Tahoe, right?

Probably three thousand. I'm gonna feel like King Kong, right? But seriously, like, no. Did it look, be honest, it looked different. It looked very different.

Stuck, I think is the word that I would say. You were stuck. Dude, you were a fun round of golf to play with. I had a, you know, if I only, you know, didn't. You know, spit up all over myself that day.

I would have enjoyed it a little bit more, but you're a great playing partner. I'll say that here in front of everybody. It was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun, Matt. Yeah.

You know, we'll do it again. And now you've got a new swing. I hope, I hope it does feel repeatable. Like, I'm the first day I actually was, he's like, you, you're basically not turning. And I'm like, what do you mean?

And he starts showing me. And the next day I woke up. I'm like, why am I sore? And it's just. Don't listen to me.

At any rate, when do you find out pairings? When does that come out? Wednesday night? Or they've already figured it out based on. Here's the thing: there are a lot of.

There's a lot of complainers or people who want to offer their insight onto the pairing.

So, this is my tread into some waters here, the Tahoe waters I shouldn't be treading into. I think they probably know exactly what time on Friday morning that you'll see that they will not tell you until a time that they won't. Once it's there It'll be done. Like, it'll be posted. It'll be in the, it'll be, it'll be up.

Everybody will know.

So it's just.

So you can't be like, hey, actually, I want to play with Brian at 10:45 or whatever. Oh, because there's some early.

So you're talking about somebody. Or who they're playing with. This is boring yet. No, I'm not saying that you're complaining. No, I'm just going to say, I'm going to be real easy.

Just stick me with whoever. Yeah, I'd love to play with you, but I mean, I'm not in your. I'm not in. Your handy kind of thing.

Well, according to the odds makers, they've seen your new swing. What are you talking about? But you have better odds to win than Brian. That's not true. Brian Baumgartner, you are 1,000 to 1 right now.

Rich Eisen, you are 500 to 1. I can have a double chance to go in front of everybody here. In this studio. Watching on the Roku channel. listening to us on terrestrial and satellite and streaming radio.

I say to you, Brian Paumgartner, I am sorry about that.

Okay, because there is no. Way. I've played with you. I've seen you play in multiple. Yeah.

I don't know if I should be saying this because, you know, there's people wager on this stuff, but there's not real money. There's not a chance. There's not real money should not be spent. I will, I will, which you should do as well. Talk about things.

Your green room, you've got some nice stuff on the wall. I have betting slips of myself just because I think it's cool. Just because, like, betting on myself, having just whatever I want to bet, whatever that piece of paper is worth, that to me is worth it. Look, here's the thing: the American Century Championship, there are. What, 10?

10 guys that have a shot? Seven. You think? There's about seven guys who have a chance. I mean, I don't know, to be clear, I wouldn't.

I mean, the only reason I up that number a little is I would not, before Steph won. Shout out, Steph. You're the goat. I would not have put him on the list. Like, he got, I mean, he, he, I, my, my favorite thing that he did when he won two years ago was thank the Lakers for knocking him out of the playoffs so that he had more time to practice.

So, yeah, I'm sure that there's a couple of guys. Yeah, Austin Reeves might like there.

So, maybe 10, 12, 10. It's Steph, it's Tony Romo, small, it's Anaka Sornstem, Joe Pavelski is really good. I mean, Taylor Twellman, I think, could be a good idea. Taylor Twellman has got he's got some game and you know he was not pl He came on the show last year. He was top 10 last year.

He was like, the way he played. And we're like, come on, man. Smoltz is serious. Like, he wants to. He wants to win.

He's won all of the other big celebrity events. Isn't that amazing? By the way, this is what golf is. And obviously, the American Century Championship will do. Hall of Fame World Series.

Like the only thing missing for him, right? Like, what any sports Emmys? He's got sports Emmys based on his next, his latest career. Yeah. The only thing missing.

Is that. And of course, a Michigan State Football Championship, which will never happen. I love it. Marty Fish 62. Like he has a course record at Edgewood at 62 during the tournament.

Right. And isn't he playing left-handed and he's not really like he's right-handed dominant or the other way around or something like that? He's a lefty golfer, but I think he's a righty tennis player. Yeah, he's righty tennis player. He plays tennis righty.

Yeah. I believe so. He's amazing. He did something like that to us last year because he came on after he won. Yeah.

Which you will do. A couple of weeks. After this year? Yes. We'll have you back.

The number of hole-in-ones, and I only say that because it's stable first, so it's weighted, right? It's not just minus two, you get like eight points. I would have to have five hole in ones, I think. If I had five hole in ones and played well, so you're saying I won't get a chance over three days, then I could maybe win. Charles Barclay is at the bottom, 7,500 to 1.

Yeah, but see, he's playing better. The thing about it. Can you stick till the end of the hour? Can you stick around to the end of your home? Great.

You know, Blank Mary kill game that we always used to play as kids.

Okay. Did we, as kids, play that? Or as collegiate last week, okay. We call it start bench cuts. You can have to start somebody, bench somebody, and cut somebody.

And we have a Game of Thrones theme to it.

Okay. All right.

What's the first one, Chris Brockman? What are your favorite? The first one is your favorite Game of Thrones character.

Okay, hold on.

So give him the three. Khaleesi. Jon Snow, Jorah Mormont. You have to start bench cut. You have to start bench cut.

Bench one and cut. I'm starting Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains. Mm-hmm. I'm uh I'm Ben Shinjorah, and I'm... Cutting John.

Cutting John John. You can't have any rivalry. John. He's trying to, you know, but he's trying to get in there out there. We gotta cut.

We gotta cut John. Didn't see that cutting.

Okay. He's cutthroat. But because we also knew one of the many times you have conversations, you're a big Joro fan. I am. I am.

And now that he's got the Race Gio out, you know, he's... Hey, John Snow's out. And John's out. He could be in.

Okay. I don't think that matters. Yes, Game of Thrones. All right, give another one right there.

Okay, the nastiest MFer on Game of Thrones. You have to start one, you have to bench one and cut one. Ramsey Bolton. Walder Frey Joffrey. This fifth's nastiest.

I mean, you gotta start Ramsey. He's the worst. I mean, he is the wokes, right? He's the worst of all time. Worst of all time.

Um. I'm going to bench Joffrey because he's close. You know, the stuff that he did, I mean, Sansa's put up with all this crap from the men in her life. She's picked better men. Exactly.

And so I'm going to bench Waldo Frey. He's up there, but his death was exciting.

So you cut him. He's out. He's out. Okay. Well, which he actually was, in fact, cut.

Right, are you? Literally, from all that.

Okay. And then we'll just do one more favorite movie.

Okay, the three choices are Shawshank Redemption. A fugitive. You've got mail. Start bench cut. I'm starting the fugitive.

I mean Tommy Lee and Harrison Ford, fantastic. I'm going to bench Shawshank, phenomenal movie as well. And I'm cutting. You beat me up. It's not even the best Tom Hanks McBryan movie.

Exactly. Yeah, but it's modern times online and all that. That was like a phone call on a radio show and everything. Yeah, but you've got dial-up. You've got dial-up email.

Come on now. You guys are wrong. Roger's saying it's not even the best Tom Hanks Med Grind movie. Uh As funny as it gets. And I don't know.

Brian Bond. Bob Gartner, here you can you can attest. Is Rogers the only person in the history of acting? to be in both The Office and Game of Thrones? Ooh.

Was there anybody else in the office who wound up on Game of Thrones? Can't imagine. I cannot imagine. There you go. There you go.

But if you miss, you could miss Rogers if you blinked on Game of Thrones, not on the office. No, he was there. Yeah. He was there. You put him in there.

Yeah, I think that's it. That's got to be it. There's not a lot of stuff other than that. But anyway, that was Rogers at the Super Bowl that the Eagles beat the Patriots. And you've got Mail is still a top three movie for you?

Still Chris? Love that movie.

Okay, there you go. It's not even the best Tom Hanks McGrath movie.

Well, he's wrong about it. Top three? No, I'm just kidding. Yeah, I just really like it. He just likes it, and we were.

Making fun of me. Yeah, that's which we do frequently. Why not? Brian Baumgartner finishing up here on the program. We were basically talking about, and I stopped in the middle of everything to get our commercial break-in.

I mean, I understand. You got to pay the bills. You do. About so the American Century Championship, you're going to. I think you're going to, I smell top 30 for you.

I do. Top 20, top 30. There's 92 in the field. That's top third. I think you're top third.

Yeah, I think now I got. I think that. Progressively, I mean, there's going to be, I don't want to scare you. Yes. There's going to be about 80,000 people out there.

That I remember too. There's people upon people upon people. And there's more people now than there was 21 years ago. There's many more. I don't have a problem performing in front of a crowd.

That's never been my issue. No. And I feel, again, I have the tools over the last. Few weeks of Of lessons. I've got tools.

I've got tools. I understand what I need to do. I've got a clue. As opposed to the last time I was out there, I was fumbling for a light switch for four and a half hours with you. Yeah, I mean there the the the opening T shot.

It is it.

Okay. I'll be fine. That's the tough one. And it's all it's either on one or ten, right? That's it.

It's not a scra it's not a shotgun start or anything like that. It is. It uh no, no, no, no. Correct. One or ten.

Right. Yes. But they're right next to each other, one and ten. Like you can't tee off at the same time.

Okay. And so there's a lot of people congregated.

Okay. And it's not about performing in front of the people. It's just. It's just, I mean, you can hear professionals talk about their first tea shop. Oh, yeah.

You got this, Richard. You got it.

Okay. Thank you. You got it.

Greatly appreciate that. Brian Baumgartner, thank you for coming on this program. You're the man. Thank you. I appreciate you having me.

I do have to ask because I noticed it, of course, right away. The best dad ever. Yes, sir. Is that a world's best boss? Is that an O to the best?

No, no, no. Nice. No, this is a Father's Day gift I received, I don't know how many years ago. I decided, you know, it was so touching that my kids gave this to me with the price tag still on the back. You haven't taken it off all these years.

No, no, no. And I just, you know, accounting for inflation, I think my children's love for me has grown since $24.95. Oh. Can you imagine that's that's that's a that's a lot for that? That must be real fake metal.

It is that. Real fake metal, everybody. Uh no, I I and button it'll be Well I'm just gonna Keep my head down. Go through my, you know, checklist. And how soon can one get an espresso martini there?

Oh, as soon as you watch. Is that right? Yeah. As soon as you need. Throwing one back.

Some people. You don't go into the first or 10th T.

Some people feel that helps. Swing oil. Swing oil. Yes. Nerve.

Calmer? I don't think that's a thing. Nerve calmer. Whatever it is. Yeah.

You could. Or wait till after.

Okay. Either way.

So, um. The Wednesday night conversation that we have, we get our marching orders, if you will, about how we're supposed to play this tournament. Yes. Thursday, I'm in the pro-am. Are you in the pro-am on Thursday?

I'm playing most of the week.

Okay, great. I'm there Monday, Rich. I'm playing in the pro-amp. I don't work anymore. I'm there Monday.

And then there's a Thursday pro-am, and then you're saying sometime Thursday night, somebody's going to tell me what my time is. Maybe Wednesday.

Okay, Wednesday. Maybe Wednesday.

Oh, and by the way, I'm winning the karaoke. It's going to happen. I'm judging it. Great. So you just aren't going to be able to do it.

I'm telling you right now: my confidence level is high. Oh, okay.

Oh, yes. You're revealing the song or something? I can tell you what it is right now, sure. Oh, really? I'm going back and forth.

It's Sinatra.

Okay. Is that a strike against? I don't know.

Okay. Oh, the judges. How many people are in this contest? Normally. Whoever signs up.

Okay, how many people normally sign up? Probably not many. Probably not many of the athletes are willing to go put themselves out of the air. I will tell you right now: with all due risk, everyone has a chance, obviously. Unlike the American Century Championship, everyone has a chance at karaoke.

But if we were handicapping, there are two, there are two frontrunners. Who are those? Alfonso Ribera. Oh, but he's the one who's cool. Told you, I told you.

That's not cool. What else? And. Travis Kelsey.

Okay. Travis Kelsey, and I will say with all due respect to Travis. He brings the energy, which is great. Also, American Century is headquartered in Kansas City.

Okay. Mom's got the Carter stacked. There, Carter stacked. Power free coming up. Cards are stacked.

Yeah. Yeah. Jim Rome takes on sports. Why? Because you're not playing me.

With rapid fire takes. And a lot to get to, and I'm not sure you're going to like all of it. Honestly, I don't even care if you like all of it or not. I have a job to do. Scorching debates.

On any given week, you have lots to beef about. Take advantage of it. Get up in here. He's the Spitfire of Sports Smack. Which is not my fault.

We will get to all of that. The Jim Rome Show podcast. Get up in here, and we'll beef later on. What's your beef? Follow and listen on your favorite platform.
