This is the Truth Network of every man is a great image or one doesn't usually feel that way. Jesus speaks of narrow gates wide roads masculine journey is filled with many twist and turns, so how do we keep from losing heart trying to find a good way when life feels more like a losing battle than something worth dying for, grab your gear and come on a quest with your band of brothers will serve as the guides and what we call masculine journey masculine journey starts here now the campout so I actually discovered the distal experience from the podcast. Actually, could actually be a feature on the podcast because that's how I discovered this whole experience so as we cry was going through a hard season will I still am, to be honest with you, but I was yells about two and half months ago and I was just googling really. I just googled around for resources on how to just how God could help through hard times such as cancer sugar on a line.

I'm just looking for more immediate resources that can help me go through that in question from muscular injury radio on our novel podcast and I started listening to it much constantly, through the whole truth in almost every episode and just really really enjoyed it thought of the topics in that are about you guys talking about the boot camp ends in Lexington would be part of. So you decided to go ahead and register in, week or two ago three weeks ago how long ago did you register I registered back in September.

So actually shortly after I started listening to the podcast – it's really kind of at a crossroads in my life and just really wanting to find a way to get closer to God more intimate, so you've got a unique story about the guy you came with. Also from Nashville, to let thought that startled the forest that is correct. Yasser Alex is also here at that the the boot camp this weekend. We actually met on Tuesday.

It's now Saturday, so we actually it sends a lucky young adults church ministry in Nashville called Kairos it's connected to Brentwood Baptist Church in in Nashville so on. Yeah actually met with Susan I through a random connection to my current roommate actually and we bumped into each other at church. He mentioned you just read what heart by by John Eldridge and I was like oh I actually just listens audiobook like four weeks. Io myself just kind of really interested in looking for opportunities to grow and he mentioned is like actually been praying about going to go on some kind of retreat have been like for five years to any type of retreat. He was like I was like well as a matter fact, I'm actually going to one on Thursday in North Carolina that I cut a friendly StumbleUpon online and he's like well can I come is like sure yeah I mean I think you can still register so Isaiah let you know tomorrow if I find a form if I'm interested in.

Text me on Wednesday.

It was like dude I'm down. Let's go and how they are. I will pick you up at 7 AM on Thursday morning will go to North Carolina the coolest things about guys coming as far away as like Nashville to this is it's a road trip to so the adventure starts long before you get here right and you get to know somebody new.

You don't you've never known before, and all of that happens, but but okay so now you're here, so what's been the most impactful thing thus far for you. Yeah, good question.

So it's it's been an interesting journey because I can go more more to must rebut more specifically about what's going on this weekend for me, one of my biggest goals in this is to learn how to be like intimate with God, and I think that's something that I've never ever been able to do. I just grown Christian all my life in so like this has never been able to like create this like more intimate like relationship with Jesus that like I feel like some people have, but it's really hard for me to like understand how that's possible but I will have things this weekend begun to help you on that discovery, I think so. I was one of the most beneficial thing so far for me has been the cone of silence signs. I was like a busy lifestyle like pretty much everyone and I never really carveout that time to to get close to God and to allow myself to pray to him, but also to hear from him and that's like a concept I've never truly gone behind my life in just to have that one hour like carved out specifically to the point that the topics that we've already that we discussed today.

More specifically, is been impactful so was that a weird thing for the first time he did the covers out here this week because it's not you take a bunch of guys I got outside the little guy for an hour. Don't talk to anybody else. It's not a normal thing for most of us again, as you say we are all too busy. I like a free the first time without specific detail that but just what was your reaction how that work for you. I definitely struggle with it and have each one has been has been challenging for me just because it is it does feel unnatural for me to just sit there in pure silence and I have audible I did audibly like talk to God like in those scope. No sounds times, but it was it was definitely out of my comfort zone to feel a little unnatural but ultimately I think it was really really beneficial so the funny thing is I would say almost every single boot camp that we've ever done. We've done that a bunch down. That's was the guy say they the talks are great. I was in the talks are launching pad springboards for this covenant sounds because the hole in his room. People don't know about the story, but this covenant sounds, you can literally get along with God and for some for me outdoors, galloping outdoors just to focus on that and it just changes everything and every moment, every guy said that's what it was. Impactful thing is when we shut up right coming. We as an end and we let God have some room and that's when things happen and so Tyler Eli give Tyler the mic there for men don't don't go anywhere just hang out with us but Tyler, you've been to a few boot camps in the past. This is for five for me, and yet it been a while since you'd been back and there's a lot of different reasons for that is where your fault necessarily probably mind more than anything, it's hard to spend a lot of time with me so how's this can been for you. It's an II fives of the stickup reports it's a different experience for me now than it was five years ago as I was. I was newly married and I've been married for a couple years when I started common diseases had a very different relationship with my wife than the one I have now we've gone through a lot personally like our marriage is stronger now than it was in just over time is because what we gone through. I've all had a kid, I have a four-year-old now so I'm approaching this not just as a husband but also as a father. So these talks have a whole new meaning to me and the God is a father talk back then I would always, look to my father and compare that but now it's it's a little bit more like am I living up to that is a father for my son and my and my impressing that stuff.

Even at his young age my showing him that stuff now is he going to grow up to be a good man of God because of what I'm doing right now yeah that's one reason why I asked you, because I knew your story, you know, I knew that even in and I just not been married too long when you first entered boot camps in a new you know some of things you got sponsor and in the fact that Scooter is around now and now that's his son's name I don't know why named him Skeeter but I love it. I like that name that is real names, not Scooter but it might as well that's a social media that's his social name. That's right.

And I follow Scooter social media and so I totally understood and I love what you said, you know that that's when you were here before you heard some talks in one avenue in your thinking more about you and what you're getting from someone else and now you're hearing things and and yes that's still a part of it, but now you're hearing it in in relation to you and what you are giving someone else write I think also and had enough resentment is orbit. It is my my my parents were deeply involved in the church but they made sure that we were they they got back a while and I've this is the commissar with I think parents and kids.

It go to church to get back a while because it they know there's something missing. I want the kids to have that we had that experience wheat, we grope the church and I kind of resent my dad for a long time. Hearing these talks about. I didn't have that that godly influence to look up to and just being around you guys during boot camp and knowing Derek and the relationship you and Derek had II kind of. I was jealous of that and I was upset with my dad but I've thought a lot about it this weekend.

Even I didn't have that godly roasted with them. He was he was a great man he him is is not a star. He's a great man I talked to him as much as possible. He installed a lot of stuff on me so it's it's it's cool to see that now that I don't need to resent him because I do now that because I had people mount the board and me is even though he was.

I was getting as was getting for my father, but he he taught me in a hard-working, respected, taught me how to love my wife unite. My parents are still married and he sees love my mom for 40 some years and so he taught me what a good marriage. Looks like you thought it would a hard-working man looks like and how to take care your family. So I got a lot from them, and that's something I realize this week is I don't I don't need to resent him for those clinical father wounds that I envision from him because II got that from somewhere and he taught me a lot of stuff, you know, I kinda dealt with that, the same way I I have, I tell everybody my father is the world's best father. Okay, I don't care what you say about yours mines better write and I love my dad to death. Now my dad passed away about four years ago and he taught me so much loved on me and mentored me and literally until the day he died. He was probably my best friend in and we talked regularly and always did and never never in my life.

Do I remember a time when I didn't want to talk to my dad or I felt uncomfortable talking to my dad and yet my dad never went to church with me. He didn't take mom.

My mom did so. Thankfully, she did Dedan take the church in teach me how to pray you teach me how to study the Scriptures. He taught me a lot about what it looks like to be a man, but he didn't teach me a lot about what it looks like to be a godly man, a very biblical perspective now. Was he a godly man.

Yes, he wasn't did he die with a strong faith. Yes he did, and his relationship in his walk with Jesus grew immensely in the last 20 years of his life, but I did, have that resentment to that you know I didn't get some of this stuff and I resented guys like me and my son you know and the relationship that we have course, he had to come to church because I was a preacher. We have a choice. Eli going going back to you so I asked her what's the most impactful thing. Use of the covenant, the silence it's been the most surprising is anything happen that you you are like Manhattan. I think that was going to happen on you know a men's weekender or something like that.

Yeah I just gave us we've been discussing here. I think to to the talks in the response times afterward that have been probably most back to work with the wound and then also the agreements that we talked about today that we make of the art these things that we say to ourselves like this also.

That's a level we struggle with is his candidate as a self-hatred and just and just kind of telling myself that like not worth it. You know, and that is that something that was impactful me that I found in the in of the conus on Sunday and today but I as soon as we finished up that topic. I went out and was emotional kind of going out into the woods just to have that time in some pretty serious tragedies in my life recently for so I guess a citizen of the podcast about my brother actually passed away on July 30 of this year and was super super tragic super unexpected and usually 24… He's my best friend in it was really the story and it still isn't so freshly about three months ago and I am walking through that right now and really challenge my faith in some of the things to put this, that's a little odd that I know that those were for me and it still is but things like in my family that that have been wounds that that have come up that came up in that that response time for me in so another and how the website honestly with with God, and I felt like it created some kind of connection there that I haven't experienced much recently, or maybe ever, but it was a really good setting is really good thing to go through an experience so I'll say this to probably the most impactful and those response times to in this be for both of you guys all of us on the team were at least in our late 30s or 40s that we really grasp this message, which is opposite the gospel with God really reveal this to us. You guys are deafly 9040s so it's always been my desire. I think everybody desires.

We wish we could've gotten younger, Darren's got his his grandson, Taft asked my sons here this week is crazy awesome but so where are you in younger years ago when we started it. Lily smiled as he was on where you can click the donate button waking into masculine gain radio that once again you mail something what God doesn't close off each person who spoke kind of chipped away at this feeling I was having this mask.

I was hiding behind never heard you register today so as younger guys married with children, single children, how is this is give you a leg up. You think maybe a little slight advantage that maybe some others didn't have privacy. This some things that were talking about that maybe you guys haven't totally experienced yet. Hopefully there's things that we've been to the still have to go through the that's ultimately one of the goal is with when you help anybody else out right you try to prevent them from falling into the trap.

As a dad. You know that with your son so thoughts on that is hidden.

This will be younger than some of you guys suffer second on some 26 in yellow graduated from college like back in 2016 was, trying to figure out life since then and I really do think like like I mentioned before, for I can cut out a crossroads in my life right now with with my faith, but also for like I want to live with purpose in I think it does. I think it would give me you give a let give me a leg up in I, I, recognize like I need things like this in my life.

I need mentors I need I need events like this to propel me forward in my faith but also how I can interact with the world with like with people and just to create like a stronger bond with God and with my relationships because I just know like if I don't take care of it now like it could really come up to me later in life. In Italy, just get more challenging more difficult to to progress and I think that's kind of where recognized is like I need to really start investing myself now before almost.

I don't know if this is too late. But I think it's could save me a lot of slight pain in troubles along the way so Tyler Deming, your your your seeing it differently now. You were actually you read while the heart before you ever met me before you ever came to boot camp and so we were just kinda continuing something that you are already taken into yeah I was II read while the heart and some other daughter stuff back in high school I was really into that I read some Joshua Harrison stuff like that.

Whether you what your opinion of him is his be on this right now, but at the time. A lot of that spoke to me and I was I was very intent on living as a good Christian man for a long time. You not I was introduced this at a young age, but I think being here and actually hearing it in person and seeing people live it out through boot camp and just knowing some you guys outside of this and that. That opened a whole new door my mind of like all that's what it looks like okay and you know the few that I was involved with back then. Five years later at a completely different point my life and having gone through some stuff and having my my personal faith tested and our marriage tested with some issues coming through the side of it come out strong and inherent stuff keeps continuing being worked on. Just keeps adding to
