This is the Truth Network. Welcome to all you joyriders out there. This is a fantastic show from the guys you know. I'm speaking of none other than the Banda Brothers. My name's Keith, producer for such fine Truth Network programming like The Masculine Journey and Masculine Journey After Hours.

In this podcast, you can expect to laugh and smile with godly men who want nothing more than to honor and glorify God.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the joyride. I need your help. I can't tell you what it is. You can never ask me about it later, and we're gonna hurt some people. Whose car are we gonna take?

Hey, Joy Rodders.

Now, I played that clip for a reason.

Now, hear me out. Hear me out. What you heard in that clip What's true friendship? I'm not saying go out and beat someone up with your buddy. No, I'm not saying that.

Not saying that at all. But. The guy in the clip was ready to back up his friend. No questions asked. See, the topic of the masculine journey this week is about what does it mean to love someone the way Jesus loves us?

So, in the book of John, chapter 15, starting with the 9th verse, Jesus says this. Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

This is my commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. Hits why I use that clip.

Now before we get to the clip of the guys, this week the masculine journey would like to wish Harold, our sage, a happy birthday. He is 85 years old this week.

So, in honor of his big day, I'm going to give Harold an 85 musket salute. Why a musket, you ask?

Well, the musket was invented around 1521.

So that would make Harold about 10 years old at that time. Just kidding you, Harold.

So I'll start by biting off the end of the cartridge. Yeah. Yeah. Gunpowder tastes horrible. Cartridges open.

Pour some of that disgusting tasting powder into the priming pan. Then put the rest of the gunpowder and musket ball down into the barrel.

Now, you just draw the ramrod and tuck the cartridge until it's firmly seated and ready to rock. Reconnect the Ramrod and prepare to fire.

Okay.

Now I get to do that 84 more times. Thinking I should have just gotten you a cake. Oh well. Happy birthday, Harold. Mm-hmm.

Our favorite older person, Harold, it's his birthday today, and he's only 85. I know we always give him a hard time, like being much, much older, but he's a very, very young 85. And so, Harold, we're glad to have your son and your grandson with us today. I'm sure it was a good surprise to you that they're with you as well. Happy birthday, Harold.

Oh, yeah. They pulled a real good one on me. I had no idea that Caleb was in town even. and we they were taking me to the movie And so Brad worked it out and he said, No, Dad, down here. You need to go first, but you're going to have to sit on the other side of that gentleman sitting there.

And of course you know this theater's kinda dark. I'm s kinda stumbling down through there.

Well, that gentleman sitting there is my grandson, Caleb.

So they really foxed me on that one. Those boys are good at pulling surprises. Yeah, and then they came over to the show with you, which we're grateful for. Oh yeah, I've been really tickled at that. Caleb's been here before, but He was like 12, I think, when he was a little bit more.

Yes, the other end of the age spectrum. Yeah, it's Brad's second time. Yeah. Brad, I didn't think of this until he was just talking, but I'm assuming you did all the stuff up high when you were doing the work, and Harold handled a little bit lower stuff. Yes, he would usually be on the lower end of things.

Yeah, he would wire the outlets, you do the light fixtures, that kind of thing. But believe it or not, I did get him up on the roof. Oh, wow. We were putting down, you know, after, he couldn't handle the 4x8 OSB boards, but putting down the sheeting before the shingles, we got pictures of him up there on the roof.

Now, granted, he was like a, if you can picture a scared cat that spreads out, you know, he was doing that at times, but he did it. And again, showing his love for me because he knew we needed to get it done. And so he was willing to sacrifice his own fears for me. And that was very loving. And a carryover effect to that, just I'll be brief.

I learned through seeing that over the years that my dad's love language is acts of service.

So, quick story time: I came home one day and he was sick. It was a weekend, right? And I was in between travel for work. Ah man, the grass looked like it needed cut. And so I knew he was going to be taking a quick nap and then getting out there to cut.

So I just went out there, hopped on the lawn mower, started cutting, and I'll tell you, Dad, I'll never forget. You walked out ready to step on that mower, do whatever you needed to do to get it done, but you saw me and you didn't ask me for it. And that's one of the few times I truly saw tears and emotion because you received that love. Unwarranted, but carry over from all those years, you know, of you two selflessly serving each other in love. It's a great example.

Yeah, I mean I I definitely remember it 'cause I was sick as a dog but the grass needed cut and uh I did. I had to lay down and rest and I was like, Okay, I'm gonna get out there for an hour and a half, two hours to cut the grass. And I went out there and he's out there on the mower. It just brought tears to my eyes because I didn't feel like cutting the grass, and you know, to know that he was doing that because he loved me, it meant a lot. No, see I was gonna ruin it saying you probably remembered it 'cause it was the only time he cut the grass.

But you know, I don't want to go there. You know, you just shared such a touching story that was pretty amazing. I was screwing with the moment, man. I can ruin a moment quicker than anybody.

So from the Guides A Masculine Journey, I'm Keith and we'll see you down the road.
