This is the Truth Network. Coming to you from an entrenched barricade deep in the heart of central North Carolina, Masculine Journey After Hours, a time to go deeper and be more transparent on the topic covered on this week's broadcast.

So sit back and join us on this adventure. The Masculine Journey After Hours starts here. Yeah. Welcome to Mascoons or in the After Hours. We are in the middle of talking about our word of the year.

And if you don't tune in that often, you'll think that's all we ever talk about. But it is something we talk about quite often. 'Cause as the group's gotten larger, we have more people to talk about their word of the year. Right, and so it's going to take about three shows anyway to get through everybody, and then we want to revisit it halfway through the year. Mainly for us, to be quite honest.

You know, we do uh want to update you guys, but it makes us have to revisit how we doing. Yep.

So we can also feel that negligence feel th if we haven't done anything with it, Harold. And we I know how that feels. Just getting it's the first the half of the battle, you know. Then you gotta walk it out. Jim, you may have had this happen, but I know I had God give me the same word two years in a row because I didn't do anything with it the first year.

Yes, I did, actually. Yeah, so you know, that's even more shameful when God's like, you didn't even get it when I gave it to you. But and he was consistent of using the same clip to support it. I'll log in.

Well, and I actually have used that clip for at least three and probably four different words, not to mention a few other things. Wow. I almost used it for this, but God said, nope. Got another one for you. Good.

Good. Yeah, it's gonna make its way down the Clip Hall of Fame and get retired. If it was a cassette type, it'd be wore out. It would be. It would be.

VHS would be chewed up in the things, yeah. Anyway, we are talking about word of the year and uh We're out of people that have haven't talked about their word of your art. Do you have a word? You already talked about your word. You talked about it.

It was on your Uberflock and you're going to get a little bit of a title. And he can't talk about it because nobody will give him a microphone. Yeah, I can't remember what it was called. It's like German for Volkswagen or something, isn't it? Yeah.

Yeah. Farfen. That's Farfen there. I think you hit it right.

Okay. Yeah. Uberleben. Oh, that's close. Yeah, it's German for.

Survive or persevere is another synonym. There are several synonyms for it. But yeah, I'm persevering. I'm uber laben in. I don't know if that's a word.

Yeah, don't worry. Would you say it there? But Jim can pray to you. That's what I was asking him. He actually has it inscribed on his Yeti bug sitting here.

Uber Laban, and it's literally it breaks down into over life.

Okay. That makes sense. No, when you put it that way I can almost see it, yeah.

Okay. Yeah. So over life you gotta persevere.

Okay, so endeavour to thank you, Harold. You brought it back to. Josie Wales. It always comes back there. I thought it was like uh wasn't Laban like uh Um Rachel's father, or whatever, that Jacob dealt with, or whatever.

So, that'd be an Uber. It'd be like, really, isn't that like awesome? Like, maybe that was an awesome Laban. He drove carts. Yeah, great Laban.

Maybe he drove carts for other people. Was it Uber Laban? I was going to pull that in there, too. I think it may have been a Death Leopard.

Well, anyway, we are just digressing through lots of things today. As you can tell, we're all a little giddy. It was a little bit warmer this week. But anyway, Robby. Welcome back.

We're glad to have you here on the air with us. And you want to talk to us about your word and revisit it? Or Danny, do you have something you say? I have enjoyed my year-worthy year immensely, and it's in. You know, my daily prayer So that I, you know, kind of engrave it into every single day of trying to chase, you know, what it got, where are you going with this?

And my word of the year last year was worship, um And he had shown me so many amazing things, and I just thought, well, that's fascinating, is that my next word would be wholehearted, in other words. that would actually add to my worship as well. And so I was very excited about that and learning things along the way. like always, you know that that what you think the word is going to reveal to you through the somewhere close to where God takes you, or has been my experience that that's what he's doing, is teaching us And what a beautiful adventure to You know, go to places that you really hadn't seen before, things that you didn't really understand. We came into this month of March, I mean last month, which was March.

And I had this horrific automobile accident and It was such that it gave me a concussion and it. Yeah. vertebrae in my neck and also broke some of the my what I call stegosaurus bones in my back and What? You know, lots of injuries. And I found myself somewhere I don't usually find myself, and that is I couldn't pray.

Not the way I wanted to. When I got up in the morning, you know, I couldn't hardly focus, I couldn't concentrate. And I even wrote in my journal, like, man, I can't even remember what my word of the year is. It was a shocker to me. Like, God, I know you want to teach me something through this horrific experience that they were going through.

My wife was in the hospital on the floor below me from the from the from the crash with a broken leg and spinal injuries and things like that. And my kids are going back and forth ministering to us. And I was on all kinds of pain meds and just trying to figure out what in the world. And I had to wait till I got home. After being a week in the hospital, to get my prayer journal, which I usually keep because I didn't take it with me.

And I looked at my word of the year and about fell out, like, because I still had not been in a position to pray like I normally can and do. And I was like, oh my gosh, God, what are you? What have you done? You know, it's just a a beautiful thing that he had. shown me by reducing everything else in my life.

I had to Stay at home. With his neck brace on, essentially not able to move, which in my life. You know, I I drove hundreds of miles a week between going to my church and going to the station. And so now I'm in this fascinating place. Uh Essentially finding out what wholehearted is in this season it's been amazing.

And so through the sickness itself, Um things become more life and death. And and things become more life and death, all of a sudden your whole heart becomes like, oh, this is what really matters. like the clip we use quite often with Jim Carrot is like when you're praying, what is it that you really want, right? And things become.

so much more in focus As you're looking at these particular struggles, especially with your wife and your family in the midst of a tragedy like that. I found this clip. It's from the movie Tombstone, and in it. Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp are in this epic battle at the OK Corral, and one of the Big bad guys is I think his name is Johnny Bringo and He was You know, perhaps in a position to kill Wyatt Earp if they were to go one-on-one with each other, but Doc Holiday realized he had. A bit more speed, even in his illnesses, he was fighting off cancer.

So He chose, um To Be wholehearted. to pr to save his friend in this particular clip. and take on Johnny Ringo and to Johnny Ringo's surprise, It turned out Doc actually got to be his hucklebearer, meaning that he was going to carry his casket.

So if you want to go ahead and play that, Sam? I didn't think you had it in you. I'm your huckleberry. Why, Johnny Ringo. You look like somebody just walked over your grave.

But it's not with you, Holiday. I beg to differ, sir. We started a game we never got to finish. Play for blood, remember? I was just fooling about.

I wasn't. And this time Yeah.

Alright, longer. Let's do it. Say when. Poor soul. He was just too high strong.

Hmm. Oh wow. Wasn't quite as sick as I made out. Yeah, so that That quick struck me kinda in the heart with he was talking about Then w you know, Johnny was saying I was just fooling around. He said I wasn't.

I was playing for blood. And you know, when things get serious, You know, and I've talked about this a lot of times at boot camp, that, you know, what kind of battle is worth fighting for in your life? And whatever that battle is, Um to your faith or for your friends or your family Um You know, it's blood. And it's and it's wholehearted. Um thing that God's teaching me in this season.

I'm so grateful for the word, but I wish anybody could have seen the look on my face. When I, you know, I'd been searching for that word for four or five days, whatever it days, I was in the hospital. All of a sudden, oh, that's what it is. Of course, that's what it is. Um, that's amazing.

That's awesome. Thank you, Robby. Danny, you had something you wanted to say earlier.

Well, yeah, I was going to talk a little bit. I had talked earlier in the year about my word settled and. Evidently I had settled way down 'cause I had when you threw the topic out this week I was like Oh god, what is my word?

So I had to go back and listen to the show. And uh but uh so Hadn't done a whole lot with it, but you know, just listening to, I love the movie Tombstone and Wild Earth were my two of my favorite movies. And uh but um I was just thinking, you know, we were on vacation in England and Scotland last week and Yeah, I was sitting I can't remember where I was sitting at and I was thinking about, and I just realized, I think it was the Lord showing me a couple of things about being settled. But I was thinking about where I was at. And where was that last year to stop?

You know, because last year was, you know, probably you hit it on the nail. You know, I got to a place where I couldn't pray. I was in survival mode. Because, you know, trying just to stay alive, not sure what was going to happen with cancer. And I got a taken.

Um. And then here I was last week sitting in a foreign land. You're travelin' with my wife? doing some of the things she loved and some of the things I loved. And I just began to reminisce through my life.

And it would be real easy, you know, with the drug addiction and with, you know, some other tragedy stuff, some self-imposed. And I realized how much God had blessed me. And what a blessed life I have had. And it wa it it settled something in my soul. That God is good no matter what, and from the day He called me out of darkness.

He hasn't changed his mind. I'll give him lots of reasons to change his mind. But he hasn't changed his mind. And I quote it quite a bit. You know what Graham Cook said: He loves me because he loves me.

Because he loves me. Because he loves me. Because he loves me. And there's nothing you can do about it. And you know, when you get that settled in your spirit, It's a game changer.

And yeah, I I don't know why it had to happen when it did, but I mean, it was just something that just settled that You know, I've been able to do some amazing things, things that I shouldn't have been able to do. that people told me I couldn't do. And I remember when I was ordained Yeah, I started through the the the Church of God process. And because I had been divorced They wouldn't ordain me. and you which was a crushing day.

that day, but but the uh and then, you know, a couple of different things happened. But when I began reading through the things, I had already done some of the things that a fully ordained minister in the church you got it already done. You know, there.

So, because God told me a long time ago, He said, You just let me peek your pulpits. And I've tried to do that. And and but I've been able to do that, you know, in in in other countries and, you know, and just. and all kinds of meet all kinds of wonderful people all over the place and, you know, just Phenomenal, just phenomenal lifestyle. And you know that that's pretty cool.

That's pretty cool. No, thank you, Danny. Appreciate that. My um my word of the year I talked a little bit about it before, but I didn't have a clip for it, and it was just in passing. And so I got my word of the year in a dream, actually.

It was a weird dream. I woke up thinking about a kid a guy that I went to high school. had passed away He hasn't, he's alive. But in my dream he had passed away. And one of the things that was said As whoever was telling me about it, or I was reading it, or whatever it was, how I learned it was the thing that was said in there: he was studying the word Shiloh.

I didn't even know Shiloh was a biblical word at that point. But I woke up knowing, okay, that's my word. Without a question, this is just too out of nowhere.

Something I would not ever think of myself. And so Robby was pretty instrumental in sharing with me on some of what that is. But Shiloh is a pretty interesting word.

Some of the things about Shiloh are very clear. It was important in the rel it was a religious center in the Old Testament for the tabernacle after it had been entered into the Promised Land.

So it was a resting place there. It served as Israel's main place of worship before Jerusalem. Right, and so there's lots of historical things there. It's still a very much visited place in that part of the world, which Robby brought me a piece of pottery from there, a piece of a broken piece of pottery, which is everywhere there that's been touched by. Uh the land of God.

But then it gets into, and so part of me, the question was: okay, is this about what's my religious center? Is it truly God or do I try to look at other things? And then Shiloh is also about it's debated. He to whom it belongs, the rightful ruler, another word for it is peace bringer.

So Jim, that kind of correlates with something you said. And then as you're going down It's often associated with the words peace. Rest, God's present, in fulfilment of God's promise. And so for now, that's where I'm camping. I'm camping on those four things.

The peace that comes from God. The rest that can only be found in him Trying to continually put myself in God's presence because I'm the one that pulls away. And seeking the fulfillment of a lot of promises he's given me. And so I had some songs. I couldn't find a clip on Shiloh.

If you go to a search, even if you use Chat GPT, you're going to find two things if you look up Shiloh. You're going to find a dog movie from the 80s where they were rescuing a dog, which was the theme, or 90s, I think, during that time, you know, it was a kid's movie. And then the Shiloh, the battlefield, during the Civil War. That's about the only thing you can find on it. And so neither one of those really worked.

And so I had some clips that made me think about those things we just talked about. God's presence. Peace. Rest, those things. And so I'm going to play these clips, they're just little small clips from three songs, and then tell you why they each help me feel that way.

Run to the father. I fall into grace. I'm done with the hiding, the reason to wait. My heart needs a searching, my soul needs a friend.

So I'll run to the Father again and again and again and again. Just call on me, brother, when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you understand. We all need someone.

Somebody to lean on. Lean on me when you're not strong. And I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on for it. It won't be long till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on.

And what's the word of word up everybody say? When you hear the call, you've got to get it underwrite. Word up, it's the cold word. No matter where you say it, you'll know that you'll be heard out. Word up, Jim.

Hey, uh, oh, let me share first, so I'll let you talk about it. Uh, so the things that bring me rest, peace. God's presence. And those all three songs do for different reasons. The first one, Run to the Father.

I find that I f myself doing that more and more and I need to do it more than more. I just I often still try to rely on my own way to think things out, my w way to processes. Process things, my way to handle it. Even though I'm doing better, I need to continually first and foremost run to the Father, 'cause that's what I need the most. And then the second thing is, sometimes God to me is God with skin on, and that's all you guys in the room.

You've helped me some through some really difficult times in my life. you know through a very painful divorce for both my wife and I when we were married. It was a pretty brutal divorce for our community as a whole. And you guys were there for me and supported me through lots of troubling times when I lost my mom. Just uh my brother when he passed away I knew I had the father, but it meant everything to me to have you guys there too.

And uh It it means a lot to me and that's where I find rest and peace. In God's presence. And then the last one is poking fun at my friends. And that brings me joy. And I knew Jim was going to think about, oh, I got off the word of the year and I didn't have to hear that horrible song, Word Up.

And so I put that in there just to make myself laugh. I was lucky, Gavin. 667 is a pretty good batting average. Yeah, that's true. Great songs there.

Yeah. Yeah, but that was the main thing. What does Word Up mean? I don't know. But what it means to me is a couple things.

The God's truth is found in His Word. Right. I don't know what the actual song means. I could care less. I'm not going to read the lyrics, right?

I just like the little snippet there because it irritates you more than anything. From that generation, word up meant what's up. What's up? Yeah, that's true. I was already past.

I saw that TV show, though. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, rerun and AJ. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I saw that.

But Raj. Raj, exactly. You you got it. Yeah, if you haven't seen it, well you're not missing much. But it's the only thing on ABC during those days.

Anyway, back to uh Word. God's Word is where I'm going to find life, but also to continue to focus on the Word that He's given me. You know, there's so many times he'll tell me something and I don't write it down or I don't commit it to memory. only for him to have to tell me again. I'd like to say that's been pretty quickly, but sometimes it's years down the road, he reminds me.

I remember him waking me up in the middle of the night one time telling me You need to get your finances in order. And I didn't really start doing that till ten years later. Right, and those ten years made a huge difference in my ability to retire. and lots of different things that you know had to be gi put on hold. 'Cause I just didn't listen.

Even God told me, and so trying to make sure I don't lose those words that He gives me. Yeah, that's the disciplined conversations I'm having. Yeah, it is. It's easy to do because sometimes. I'm not always where I can write something down or throw a note on my phone, you know, when God says something to me.

That's not an excuse, I need to do better at doing that. But often, by the time I get to the next destination, I've kind of forgot what we're even talking about. That's true, but I will say this. Uh 'Cause that happens to me at times.

Okay. Ask for recall, because people do that too. Because, you know, things don't recall as easy as they're going to.

So, if they give me that word, I can use total recall, a couple of clips from that movie to get the full essence of that recall. Absolutely. Remind me. See, I'm getting joy. You hear it in my voice because I'm teasing my friends.

So I have, if you're done, I've got something as a follow-up on that. Yeah. I don't get this for everybody, but I just think I went back and looked at it so. Sam, we we shared that at the end of last year, beginning of this year. And for the last couple years, Danny has had us in a Bible study.

It was just one chapter a day, something, you know. I do other one other stuff, but we were doing it as a group, and we were. I keep hitting this. Come on. I'm hitting the microphone.

But anyway, um. We just do this one chapter, and shortly thereafter, I was on 1 Samuel 3. Mm-hmm. First MF3 is obviously when Samuel hears God call his name, and the first time he hears God's voice. But down at the very end of that, this is kind of what struck me.

Uh This is verse 19.

Now Samuel grew and the word was with him and he let none of his words fail. And all Israel from Dan even to Bathsheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord. And the LORD appeared again at Shiloh. Because the Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

Okay. Hmm. And I shared it. I texted you that. I don't know if you had time to go look it up, but I don't remember if.

Uh my lack of discipline, I think I did Danny's chapter of the day for like a week.

Well, that's not we're not shaming. No, no, it's just I probably that was just a pudding. That is, again, we're just your name Sam happens to be Sam or whatever, but Sam and Shiloh together. I just thought it was interesting. No, it is.

And uh, I hear it deeply this time, so thank you. Yeah. Up to that point, that was the bloodiest battle in the Civil War. It took place early in the war, and it was in the Western Theater. And uh the Midwestern boys had a little bit less uh desire to Run away from conflict than some of the Eastern boys did.

So. It was a a terrible Mattel. But I think it ended up being like fourth in the war.

Okay. Danny, you got something? Just to follow up on Jim's favorite song, Word Up. Yeah. It actually means, I googled it.

Okay. Well, you know it's got to be true. Yeah. It's on Wikipedia. I mean, you know, come on.

But it it it actually means, and I thought this was ironic. Used to express strong agreement, approval, affirmation, or truth.

So, all right. I was wrong. That's where I was headed with it. Yeah, but we got to relive the whole What's Happening TV show. We would have done that with that.

So so God was in that show. Oh, I don't know. No, he's the ultimate word up. That's true, but it was what's happening. Anyway, Robby, we haven't gone back to you in a while, bud, so we got a little bit of time.

Do you have anything you want to add? I I just love what Andy just r read. And I I was sitting there pondering. You know how many times the the prophet said the word of the Lord came to me. And And that idea that he is the word, and then I buy it, I just get that from both shows that we did tonight.

Just an amazing opportunity we have to walk with him, you know? Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, thank you, Robby. Robby reminded me during our break between shows that the upcoming boot camp is an advanced boot camp.

And so, what that means is you can't really come to the boot camp unless you've been to a basic camp somewhere, not one of ours, or you attend part of what's called an entrenchment. An entrenchment is a smaller boot camp over a night and a half. And we put those on at churches. If you know someone who'd like to have one done, please reach out to us. We will talk with you next week.

Have a great week. Oh.
