This is the Truth Network. Coming to you from an entrenched barricade deep in the heart of central North Carolina, Masculine Journey After Hours, a time to go deeper and be more transparent on the topic covered on this week's broadcast.

So sit back and join us on this adventure. The Masculine Journey After Hours starts here now. Welcome to Masco and Journey After Hours. It's been a while since we've done one of these. We've been in an entrenched barricade for about a month now.

Called the holidays. Called the holidays. But also, we took a little bit of a break intentionally. From the Masculine Journey After Hours. If you're not sure how we do this, on Tuesdays, we get together on Tuesday evenings.

And we record both shows. We do the radio shows, and we have a seven-minute break, and then we do the after-hours, and then we go back and we talk about life for a little while, and then we're all older, so we wanna head home and go to bed, because it's past our bedtime for a lot of us. And so we don't get a lot of life to share. And so we decided to take that time off. Uh from really Thanksgiving through the first of the year, and just uh have one show.

that we did and then have more time for our our band of brothers to really just kind of dig back in together. You know, and entrenched a little bit more.

Well, the whole point of the after hours before was What we just did two minutes ago. 10 minutes after the show, we're talking about what we talked about in the show, and that's when some real depth happens. And so we talked about that many years ago. And said, you know what? That's often better than the show.

And so let's do the after hours so that we can go a little bit deeper. And Give people that, and so that's the cool thing about it. But you also miss. that time that we get to sit around and just do it without being On the microphone. Yeah, just like most people's lives, there's things we really don't want to throw out there on the microphone that we need to talk to our band of brothers about.

Airways, that is. Yeah, uh well that's true.

Well, I guess airways if it's a radio show okay. Anyway, but we are continuing our topic of the Word of the Year, but we are doing the 2026 edition. This is the first show of 2026 in which we're talking about our Word of the Year for this year. And so we're going to kick that off. And Danny, you are on the line.

Welcome. We're glad to have you. And you have the first word that you're going to teach us and talk about. Yeah, um I'm good to be on the air. One of these days I won't be back in the studio.

Uh that that's part of the whole journey.

So, um The Yeah, I've been with you guys for Lord five, girl, six years now. And I can remember I can remember just quick Quickly about you well, I was sitting in a show and y'all started talking about the word of the year. And I am like trying to be a poser and pretend like I know what you're talking about. And it about ten minutes into it, I'm like Okay, I had to stop it.

Okay, guys, what are we talking about? I have no clue what we're talking about. And so but, you know, it has become such a treasure in my own life. that you know I look forward to The word, and then you know, me being the guy that I am, I go, oh, okay, this is cool. And I figure out I already know what the package is.

Well been wrong every time.

So, um And, but you know, it's really neat to, you know, dig into it and to watch it unfold. You know, it has some twists and turns as twenty twenty five did for me. But uh the you know The other night I was praying. I said, Okay, Lord, I need a a word for you, but I want to I want a um I would like a Um A scripture for the year too.

Well I pick at my younger brother. He's six years younger than I am and I love him dearly. But he always sins a verse of the day. about every day. And the other day yesterday he sent one and I read it and One of the words in the scripture jumped out at me, so I got both in the same package.

And I told my wife, I said, if a miracle happened, God used my brother. Of course, he used a donkey once upon a time too. And uh but uh he'll listen to this later, so it'll be funny. Um but So the scripture he said was. But the God of all grace, who has called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus.

after that you have suffered a while, Make you perfect. establish, strengthen and settle a year. And, you know, that verse just ran all over me and then the word settled jumped out at me. And so my clip, you know, I'll play a clip and then I'll finish talking about this afterwards. clip is from Lord of the Rings, which is I have a bittersweet relationship with Lord of the Rings.

And because we tried to watch the trilogy one weekend and I kept falling asleep and every time I wake up they were looking for Frodo and three movies later I'm not sure they found him. And so, you know, I'm like, I don't know that I'm going to invest a whole lot of time in this. But, you know, hanging around with you guys and the clips and that guy it'd been and so I come across this clip And it's an interchange between Frodo and his friend Samwise. And they're in quite a pickle and so They're, you know, industry. I think Frodo's In panic mode.

I think he's having an anxiety attack, is what it looks like. And You know, but Sam wise impart some truth to him. And you know, and they don't use the word, but Samwise has settled on. where they're at and what's going on. And so it meant a lot to me when I saw the clip.

I went, man, that's the idea. Behind this thing, so you know, as we unpack it, so you can play the clip, and then I'll talk about it a little bit more. I can't do this um I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here.

We are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Fruitle. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were.

And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened? Victory! But in the end, It's only a passing thing.

This shadow. Even darkness was passing. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you.

That meant something. Even if you are too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Furrell I do understand. I know now.

Folk in those stories. Had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. What do we all belong to, Sam?

There's some good in this world, Mr. Furhole. And it's worth fighting for. Danny either. Yeah, I'm here.

The uh you know, he says there's some good in this world. and is worth fighting for. And, you know, he's talking about the stories and and and, you know, you can if you pick up a book, you can turn to the back and you can see how it ends. And and I think but, you know, in life you don't get that. You don't know how the story ends.

And you know, life takes its twists and its turns as we have figured out. pretty well in twenty twenty five. that, you know, life turned upside down in a minute. And with cancer diagnosis, or you know, I mean, people deal with stuff all the time. You know, your job ends.

And, you know, I mean, I've known people who walk in one day and their job is over. They had no clue the day before. But you know, those stories that matter is what Sandwise was talking about. the the ones that, you know, are filled with darkness. and they're filled with those kind of things.

But yet the darkness passes away, you know, and the scripture says joy comes in the morning. And you know, God is the God of the morning, and He's a God of glory. And he has imparted that to us through Christ Jesus. And ultimately, that's what we need to hold on to. That's that truth that we hold on to.

I don't know the end of the story. I don't know the end of my story. But I know who wrote it. And I trust him. And that's what is right at this moment settling in my heart.

is, you know, the the the glory and the the the gift that we have in Christ Jesus. You know, I don't deserve anything I've got. But but yet in his grace and his mercy, You he's been very, very, very good to me. And so, you know, I trust him with the story. That probably wasn't true several years ago.

I thought I was still writing my own story. And but, you know, I've learned from from some hard turns that No, you're not writing the story. But uh you know tho those are the kinds of things.

So so the word settle. Is it Is a word that we'll be unpacking this year, and I'm looking forward to it, I think. Yeah, I was looking forward to restoration last year, but boy, that unpacking had some had some twists and turns in it. But still, you know, God doesn't do anything to harm us. He he has things in mind for our good.

And so I believe that, that this will be a be a good thing because it comes from a good God.

Well, thank you, Danny. We appreciate that. You know, your word last year, you know, when you said it at the beginning of the year, and then the way it played out the rest of the year was just amazing. To me, just to watch how that kind of changed your whole perspective. And I'm interested to see what God does with this word.

This year for you. You know, and and uh how he unpacks that, as you said. It it's gonna be pretty cool to to watch that. Yeah.

Well, he's a pretty cool God. He is. He is. Yeah.

Art. You have a clip and you have a word of the year. I have a word of the year. It is my first ever word of the year. I've been coming here, I think, five years and uh I don't know, a word never came to me.

I prayed and thought, but never had a word before, but this one just kind of. fell out in front of me. It was right there in front of me and uh I've got there kind of a roundabout way, but Well, it's all connected. It's all connected here. I really got excited about this year's boot camp, last fall's boot camp, even though I wasn't there.

You know, the camping, you know, the bonfire, and maybe eating cowboy beans around the bonfire. Was cowboy beans on the menu, Robby? This year I was there. Never if Robby's currently.

Okay, well, that kind of got me to. Mr. Bean. We can make them for you. We can do that.

If you come, we'll make cowboy beans for you.

Okay, okay. We'll bring them when you come, because you're coming actually.

Okay, so all that kind of got me to thinking about some of my old hobbies and endeavors and Uh I have a a a couple of campers that I've done I have some outdoor cooking equipment, which I've been using some this year. I smoked a turkey and a ham this year outdoors and haven't done I haven't used that smoker in a good while. But you know, it's got me back into this kind of this kind of outdoorsy and camping and cooking outside kind of kind of kind of mood here. I also have an old Winnebago chieftain that I've done some work on it and I was hoping to have it ready for Christmas vacation at Sam's house. But that would be an honorable mention for a favorite Christmas movie, Christmas National Latoon.

There are no storm drains in my neighborhood, so yeah, I don't know that.

Okay.

Okay.

So so but I did the other thing, you know, there's another th another um in addition to, you know. Camper thing, there's another way to camp.

Some people call it bushcraft, where you build fires with pharaoh rods and build a Shelter out of rocks and sticks, and I don't think I've done something like that for. since I was about twenty years old, but But I like to think about it and watch other people do it on like YouTube. And I have one I in fact ordered myself a pharaoh rod. A fire starter. It's the world's smallest.

It fits on a necklace, and you wear it around your neck, and you can. You can always have a a way to build a fire, and the guys really had a lot of fun passing it around, trying to get it to work earlier tonight. But uh yeah, but it comes from um I ordered it from a company called Uber Laban, and they. They sell, I think, primarily fire starters, but also maybe they have a little camp stove and They sell little wooden cups called uh cuscas, which uh when I first came here I was drinking my coffee out of a cusca and all the guys uh thought that was uh Unique and interesting. Uh I think I think one guy called the the man with the wooden cup, he referred to me that way.

Yeah, that was that was my thing, but Anyway, so I ordered this necklace, this Fire Starter necklace from this company, and they sent me a couple of little decals, and I put them on my. Coffee cup. And the name of the company is Überleben. It's a German word. That means survive or to survive.

And I decided, you know, I've got this decal on my coffee cup right in front of me, Uber labeling. That would be a good word of the year for me. Yeah.

I need to survive some things. I have some things going on with my In my life, with my, like Sam said, we all do all the time, one thing or another, one way or another. I I'm I'm facing uh little bit of a threat to to the the lifestyle that that I've uh built and been living for the last six or seven years where, you know, I have my dogs and I have my cows and I have a place to roam and I've heard that some listeners enjoy listening to my. Amateur stories about being a cowman and a dog, dog man, dog trainer. I I like to I like to talk about them on the show and Usually I can relate them to whatever topic we have and to something in the Bible and uh It comes out Most of the time, pretty good, and hopefully, interesting to some people.

So, um, So that's that's the word and um You have a clip, right? And I was about to forget. We have the other thing, so I had the word and I didn't have a clip. I I and I couldn't find a clip. I'm like.

Well, you know, I used to say: if you ever need a clip and you don't have one, just use Rodney's. Rodney's clip of Josie Wells? Josie Wells and Tin Bears talking.

So Well, we g well, I looked at that one and I was like, I can kind of make that work. And then I found another clip from the same movie and it's uh it has uh it's uh mostly um Chief uh Lonewody talking about his experience of being Uprooted from his life. His life took a big change and he had to go and live on a reservation. He was forced to do that. We would just go ahead and go ahead and play the clip now.

So being the acronym for. Board of the Year is Wadi is that like uh chief w word of the year? Chief Sport of the Year.

Well, he says persevere. Persevere is what the word he used. There's like, yeah, that's a good point, Andy. I think there's like 14 synonyms in the English language for survive. It is.

is a concept that uh It's all through humankind and all through the Bible, and we'll talk about that some more, but let's go ahead and. If you play the clip. White man have been sneaking up on us for years. Jerky, yeah. Yeah.

They sneaked up on us and they told us we wouldn't be happy here. They said we would be happier in the nations.

So they took away our land and sent us here. I have a fine woman. and two sons. But they all died on the trail of tears. And now the white men.

He's sneaking up on me again. Seems like we can't trust the white man. You bet we can't. The war of this uh Frock coat. Washington.

before the war. We wore them because uh we belong to the Five civilized tribes. We dressed ourselves up like Abram Lincoln. You know, we got to see the Secretary of the Interior. You need Boy, you boys sure look civilized.

He congratulated us. And he gave us medals for looking so civilized. We told him about how our land had been stolen. And our people were dying. When we finished He shook our hands and said, Endeavour to persevere.

They stood us in a line. John Jumper. Chili Macintosh. Buffalo Hump. And uh Jim Buckmark.

And need. I'm lone waddy. They took our pictures. And the newspaper said, Indians vow. to endeavor to Persevere.

We thought about it for a long time. Endeavour to persevere. And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared Nope, two card war.

Okay, so um Yeah, um This was, you know, Rodney, Rodney, I'm told that Rodney had also used this clip. I kind of remember him doing that. But we miss Rodney. He hasn't been contributing, hasn't been here for a while. I hope he's listening tonight and knows that I'm paying a tribute to him by using his clips here.

But um Yeah, uh well Sam used chat GP, so let me see, I'm gonna use just AI and s and talk about uh how does this uh survive Uh Uberlaben idea comes about in the Bible and uh There are several verses that speak to that, and the conclusion, AI's conclusion, is Of all the verses, these verses offer hope, courage, and assurance that believers won't be overwhelmed by hardship. but will find God's support to persevere and overcome.

So that's That's awesome. Thank you, Art. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate it.

Sure, enjoy it. Robby, do you want to share your word of the year for 2026 or do you want me to share mine? That'd be fun. I'd like to come up with a clip and whatever. I thought, you know, okay, but are we going to do a full-blown show on 26 words?

Yeah, we are. But I I can share it. I know it's wholehearted.

Okay.

Which is a fascinating you know, just thing based on how my life is so fragmented. uh coming into 2026. and trying to understand You know, I've got this radio show, that radio show, another radio show, and other radio shows that I'm involved in, and ministries that I'm involved in with those radio shows. But then on top of that, You know, very much involved with Nikita's ministry, very much involved with Masculine Journey. I'm a pastor for.

you know, kill the church. And You know, I have other ministries within those that You know, God allows me to take part in. Oh, and you have a family. You have a wife. You have a dog.

And therein was where the real issue, I mean, really, that. I got so involved in all that. And honestly You know, part of Robby getting his whole heart back has to do with, you know, making the most of, you know, which I'm very, very blessed that all my family is here. I mean, I, they're. You know, my three children and their children, I I shouldn't say all my family.

I have one son who's in Florida, but but the Tammy and I's children are here, and my grandchildren are here, and so.

Now it's going to be a neat year. Really looking forward to some changes God's already put towards making me wholehearted.

So I look forward to where that goes. Yeah, we'll dig into that more next week. I'll share a little bit about my word of the year for the year, and then next week I'll unpack it more because I'm trying to learn more about it. The way mine came about was very, very weird for me. I uh one of the medicines I take causes me to have lots of dreams.

And I know I have dreams because I wake up and I don't remember the dreams, but I have dreams a lot. And the dreams are typically in a almost scary kind of nature. Most of them, somebody's chasing me. I'm in your dreams. Yeah, exactly.

Darren's in there and it's as scary as can be. And no, but I just don't. I wake up and I know I dream, but I don't remember what they are. I'm just like, yeah, okay, I had a bunch of dreams last night. And that's pretty consistent.

Well, the other morning, I'm laying in bed and I have a dream, and they say that you can't read in your dreams, but I don't know. I swear that I read on Facebook. That a friend of mine from a childhood had passed away back in Indiana, which he didn't, he's okay. But I either heard from somebody, I thought I read it on Facebook by dream, but anyway, I'll go with that. And it said in there that he had passed away, and it said, while he the latest thing he was studying was the word, and I heard Shiloh.

Uh in scripture. And I knew right away that that was my word. And, you know, I didn't get up and you know, write it down or anything. It's one that I remembered the next day. It was a dream that I remembered, you know, a few hours later, which typically doesn't happen to the point that I wanted to go look it up and go, is this even in Scripture?

You know, because I didn't know. I mean, Robby knew all about it when I talked to him about it the other day, and he helped me understand it more. But I looked it up and it has a really cool meaning. And I'll just kind of go through a brief description, but it has primarily two meanings in Scripture: one being a significant city that has the tabernacle, the original tabernacle. And it's a prophetic title for the Messiah.

And so it's Jesus' title that's used one time in Scripture referring to Jesus' coming. And then the meaning that it's given is tranquil, peaceful. He to whom it belongs, signifying the coming of the king of from Judah, that'll bring ultimate peace and obedience. And go ahead, Robby. I was just going to say, you can hear the sound of it and realize that shalom is very related to it, right?

Because you can hear that. L sound, you know that which you know it's a Shin Lamid. Um and that mem that it ends with is Is actually more Masonic.

So when you just put the Shiloh in there, it's kind of cool. And you can't help but realize that Jesus, or God, is to an extent the temple. That's his presence. Absolutely. And that was where Joshua's first.

You know, the actual first Capital of Israel was Shiloh or Shiloh.

Well, if you want to say that you said it's Shiloh, and I'm sure you're correct in that. I heard Shiloh in my dream. I'm just saying my dream. But that's the way people say it in English. Yeah, and I'm English.

So that converts. Where's the accent, man? You seem glad. How English, eh? Go to masculinejourney.org to register for the upcoming boot camp.

It's coming up March 12th through 15th, back down in Royston, Georgia. What a beautiful camp. A great getaway. A lot of history in that area. It would be a great thing to go.

If you're a baseball fan, you definitely want to go because the Ty Cobb Museum is there. We went. It was okay. But anyway, you would like to have that. We'll talk with you next week.

And let God love on you this week.
