Live from the Car Care Studios, it's the CNC Auto Show with your personal on-air and online automotive service advisors, Aaron Clements and John Ryan Mooney. So climb in, buckle up, and enjoy the ride on the CNC Auto Show.
And we do welcome you to the CNC Auto Show, and if you are looking for information on ways to make your car safe, dependable, and long-lasting, you have come to the right place. I'm Aaron Clements. I'm John Ryan. And John Ryan, did you run into any interesting jobs this week?
All of them were always interesting, of course. Yeah, just normal repairs, a lot of maintenance, trying to think of some bigger ones. Oh, we did do a transmit. No, we did two transmissions.
Yeah, I would say an average week. Yeah. It was good. We did an engine job on an F-150. It went very well. Nice. It ran beautiful when we got done.
Transit had an engine in it. It went very well. So yeah, I think everything all in all went well. Finished up.
Had a few unusual running problems, but nothing terrible. It went very well. Well, John Ryan, this is one of my favorite shows this week that we have. It's an annual show, and it has to do with car-related love stories. And we're going to give everyone the opportunity to call in and mention a car-related love story and get this now.
We're going to give not one, but it'll be two. It'll be a winner for the first hour, and it will be a winner for the second hour. The best story, a car-related love story that someone has, we'll have our judges, and that will be super sweethearts James and John Pate. They'll be calling in near the end of each hour, and they will be naming a winner.
So they will be our judges today. And again, that's $50 gift cards. And we hope that the person that wins the $50 gift card will use it for something that's Valentine's Day related.
That would be good, because this is our annual Valentine's Day show. And you just called the show, also the bread and butter of the whole show, and that is answering automotive questions. So we'll also be taking automotive questions during the whole time. So if you do have a question about your car truck issue, you give us a call. Again, the number's 800-224-9090 or 706-863-5800. Now call that number on Saturday mornings, 805 to 10 Eastern Time. And also you can watch the show, and that's at ccautomotive.com.
And you can also watch it on Facebook. What do you think about a Tech Tip quiz? Do you think that'd be a great idea?
I think so. I think this would be a perfect idea. We do have a Tech Tip quiz, and you may be a winner. And if you do win, you will receive a prize package which contains the I answered, the CNC Auto Show Tech Tip quiz. And that includes a coffee cup that has the words, I'm a Tech Tip quiz winner.
That way it's so the whole world will know that you're the winner, and you are a winner. Here it is. Scott wanted to do something special on Valentine's Day for his wife, Shelly. So he went to a store that sold perfume and jewelry, spent $10, and made it one of the most special Valentine's Days she had ever had. For 10 bucks. I know a lot of people will want that. If you know the answer to that question, you give us a call. And what did he buy? John Ryan.
Alright. One of the things I was going to mention this morning. Do you know, CarMax, a big seller of cars, they made a list of the 12 most romantic cars. Romantic cars, huh?
Romantic cars, yes. Do you know which one was on top? Take a guess.
I would think something small. No, I'm just kidding. You know, I don't know. Corvette. Come on now. Corvette. No. What car do I like the most? Oh, a Miata.
Miata. Yeah. Wow. How about that?
Yeah. Miata was on the list, at the top of the list, of the most romantic car. That's why you and Mason look so cute riding in it. Now that was cool. But I thought that was very nice to be able to look at that list. And also want to give a quick tip on something that people can get as a Valentine's Day present, if you hadn't already thought of things. Now, of course, flowers are always a big thing, getting your cards, and there's a lot of other things. But if you're looking for something else to go along with your traditional stuff, how about some sunglasses? Oh, okay. I think sunglasses are really, really neat. I think that's always a really good thing.
And even if she already has one pair, she or he already has one pair, having a second pair of sunglasses is always a great idea. Okay. You know, let's go to the phones.
Go to Trevor. Let's do it. I'm ready. All right. Yeah, I wanted to answer the Tech Tip quiz. Absolutely, Trevor.
We're here with you. And you are on the air, and we are ready for you to answer today's Tech Tip quiz. But we need to put you on stage. Trevor, you are on stage, and what is the answer to today's Tech Tip quiz? Thank you very much.
Yes, I was hoping I would get the proper introduction there. Thank you. You did.
You're up there. This was huge for you, Trevor. The young man came to the jewelry perfume store, and they happened to have a drawing for a big, big prize. It was a thing he had to pay $10 to enter for. And sure enough, they threw his name, and he and his girlfriend, wife, or whatever, went to Hawaii.
So where do I get my cup? Oh, wow. Trevor, now I got to admit, that was good. I mean, you really put some thought into that, and that was really good.
But unfortunately, that's not the answer. And Trevor, I did not do that. John Ryan was the one that gave you that. I don't know the actual answer, but I guarantee his is better.
Yeah, I believe it probably very well could be. But Trevor, John Ryan's the one who gave you the ah button. It wasn't me. Technically, the computer did. Oh, the computer did. Oh, I'll cut him some slack.
He's helped me out in the past. Thanks a lot, guys. Good try.
All right. We appreciate the call. Number to call is 1-800-224-9090 or 706-863-5800 if you have an automotive question, or if you want to enter the car-related love story deal. I'll just mention a quick one that I had. It was shortly after me and my wife got married, Joy, we went to the mountains, and I had a 280Z. And that was really a fun car.
It was a manual transmission. And at the time, though, I didn't know that much about driving in the mountains. And the sun went down, and fog formed everywhere.
Oh, no. And I was on these mountain roads with fog to where you couldn't even see out trying to maneuver this vehicle around the mountains and the fog. It was very tense. Dang. But we had a great time.
But I guess the love story part is we're lucky to be here because it was a little bit tricky. Also, I want to mention, we got Automoblog made a list of the most romantic classic cars. Now, what do you think the most romantic classic car was? Probably something convertible. Possibly. Possibly. I don't know.
I was going to say like a 55 Chevy or 56 Chevy. All right. Here we go. Now, wait for it.
Wait for it. If you say Miata, this is real. No, it wasn't a Miata. Of course, it's the James Bond 007 Aston Martin. There's a lot of those. It's a romantic blend of sophistication and class. Okay. Now, that is a good thing.
So that's another romantic car that we had there. Also, I want to mention, we want to cover a few things that people do if they run into an issue while driving. Because I still have a lot of people ask me, what should I do if this happens? What should I do if that happens? And what would you recommend someone do if they're riding down the road and they see their temperature light come on? The ideal thing would be to pull over as fast as possible, of course, with the engine running. And then, of course, shutting it off and letting it cool once you get to that safe spot. But if you're in traffic and it's just impossible and you could cause danger by shutting the car off, unfortunately, you just have to do your very, very best and get over there to the side as fast as possible.
But that's really it. Of course, you don't want to open the radiator cap or the reservoir while it's running hot. That could be really bad. Yeah, that's a terrible thing to happen.
And every now and then, it still happens. So, of course, you'd want to wait for it to cool. Or while you're waiting for it to cool, you might go ahead and plan for a tow truck or something to come.

And you can also watch and listen at ccautoshow.com. John Ryan, where are we going? Let's go to Jason, then it looks like Roy after that.
Fantastic. Hello, Jason. Welcome to the CNC Auto Show.
What can we help you with? Hey, y'all. Good morning, fellas. I just had a car-related love story I shared. Oh, fantastic.
You will be in the entry box there, and we are ready for you. Jason, what is your car-related love story? Well, let's say I went to high school in Columbia County in the early 90s, and one of my first cars was a 64 Galaxy 500XL, hot rod red with a 390, dual quads, big black factory. It was very, very, too much car for a young teenager.
No, no, not at all. A red 64 Galaxy. I love it. Well, everything was redone in the car.
It looked beautiful. And my girlfriend at the time, you know, I've been with her for a while, she loved the car, too, until she seen that movie Christine. When she seen that movie, she wasn't around the car no more. Oh, no!
Right, so maybe this isn't quite the love story, but it involved, I'll say, a romance. It was a car that was one of the downfalls. Something tells me you'd get the car and not her, though. All the way into, well, no, I'd skip them both, but I bought a truck. All the way until I went to high school, I mean, college up in Houston, so I couldn't have that car in Houston.
It was just too far of a drive. So your girlfriend watched Christine and wouldn't ride in the car anymore? Wouldn't get in the car. Wouldn't get in the car. Oh, wow. I guess that was the end of that, wasn't it? Well, that was a spooky movie.
She still loved to go to the races, but she didn't want to get in the car. Jason, we really do appreciate it, and you have now entered the win, the $50 gift card, and we appreciate your call. All right, appreciate it. Thanks. Thank you.
Number to call is 800-224-9090 or 706-863-5800. John Ryan, where are we going? Next up was Roy. Fantastic. Hello, Roy.
Welcome to the CNC Auto Show. He might have to cut his radio down just a little bit, though. Yeah.
Where are we going? Yeah, Roy, you might want to hit that radio in the background and cut that bad boy down. How's that?
Oh, that is so perfect, I can't stand it. All right. I wasn't going to do it myself. Listen, I just want to shout out to you gentlemen, I visited one of your CNC dealerships in Riceboro Road.
I had a trip with Billy, and I don't know if you all remember, but I called a year or so ago on a 97 Chevrolet C1500, 5.7, where the idle would go to 15 at almost 2,000 and then go down to normal idle. You couldn't figure out what the issue was. No chance it was gold, was it? I took it to a reputable Chevrolet dealership here last year. They kept it for about three weeks, got it in my pocketbook, and did not solve the problem. I'm taking it to you gentlemen. You kept it for about a week or so, and I'm a happy camper. All right. And I can't thank you people enough. I listen to your show every Saturday morning because it gives me ideas on what to look for and just that and the other stuff.
I think you guys are doing a great job. Well, you know, what you say and all that, I might even have to put this one in as a car-related love story. It is.
I'm on a fixed income. This is my pride and joy, Chevrolet, and money, you can't take it with you. But I love my vehicle, and like I said, whatever it takes, it's going to be with me for a long time. Well, we really do appreciate that very much. And thank you so much for the nice words there. Well, thank you, sir. And have a wonderful day. And, John Ryan, I think we should mention the Tech Tip quiz one more time. All right. I'm very surprised that someone hasn't gotten that one.
They'll get it. Scott wanted to do something special on Valentine's Day for his wife, Shelley. So he went to a store that sold perfume and jewelry, spent $10, and made it one of the most special Valentine's Days ever. What did he do where he only spent $10 to do that? And if someone knows the answer to that, they can call in and they can win a prize, the official Tech Tip quiz winner.
That's kind of a big deal. And if you have a short car-related love story, you could win a $50 gift card. Just dial 800-224-9090 or 706-8635-800.
That's on Saturday mornings until 5 to 10 Eastern time. And we open for automotive questions also. If you have a question about your car, truck, or SUV, you give us a call. And, John Ryan, real quickly, oil light. You're riding down the road, oil light comes on. What can you do?
Ooh, same thing. Sounds like all the same answers, but try and pull over as fast as possible. Unfortunately, that oil light, that does mean you're doing damage, of course. And the bad part about it is the longer it runs, the more damage that's being done.
There's very few instances where that red light does come on and it's just a sensor problem, which is, of course, a good problem, because that means it does have mechanical oil pressure. It wouldn't necessarily be doing damage, but it's not a safe way to drive. Very inconvenient, but it's definitely highly, highly recommended. It's not worth taking a chance.
It could be a false reading. But once you hear that noise of that person trying to get out of the engine, Tapping. Yeah, the tapping noise is too late. There's no way to go back and put that metal back on there. So it's not worth taking a chance.
If it's on, assume it's something bad. And safety's number one, but number two is try to save that engine. The faster you cut it off, the better off you are.
And we'll be right back after these messages. Simply put, it's a better way to spray. It features a clear flip up straw and a volume adjuster to control the flow from just a wide spray to a precision stream to just a drop. More precision, less mess.
And no one else has it. Always use blaster products and work it like a pro. It's time for more good stuff with Aaron Clements and John Ryan Mooney. The CNC auto show is brought to you in part by autobatteries.com powered by Clariose. autobatteries.com features a wealth of information on vehicle batteries from new technology to jump starting and charging. And if you do have a question about your car, truck or SUV, you just give us a call because we can help you.
If you have a short car related love story, you could win a $50 gift card. Just dial 800-224-9090 or 706-863-5800 and that will be on Saturday mornings, 805 to 10 Eastern time. You can also watch us at ccautoshow.com or on Facebook. John Ryan, where do we go? It looks like we're going to quite a few of them. Let's go over to Billy first.
Oh, fantastic. Hey, Billy, we welcome you to the CNC auto show. What can we help with? I'm glad to be there. I got, I got a story. I'm going to tell a love story. I'm going to tell about a car.
Oh, I love it. I got a, okay. I had a 61 Ford Falcon two door. It was summertime. We had the windows down. I was trying to teach my girlfriend how to drive and going, going down to Fort Jackson, you go down the hill and it's marsh on both sides.
So we're going down the hill to rain and quit. And I reached over and I flipped the wheel and the car went off the road and turned upside down went into the marsh. I got out, I went around and got her. I drove her up to the bank up there and I'm scared as white as a piece of cotton in a coal mine. And I got her and I'm down there trying to figure out what I got to do. I'm trying to press on her chest and give her some air and press on her chest and give her some air.
All of a sudden she reaches up and grabs me and kisses me. And I passed out. And we were friends. We were boyfriend and girlfriend for years. And you know, she went her way and I went my way, but, uh, we always talk about the time almost killed us.
And she said, she told me, she said, if getting you to get, getting you to kiss me, if all you gotta do is whip that wheel, you keep on whipping it. Well, you are definitely in the running. Billy. Thank you very much. Great story.
Let's try to take tip quiz. Okay. All right. We've got to put you on stage for that. Okay.
All right. All right, Billy, you are on stage. Everyone's looking at you. What is the answer? So he goes, they got a jewelry store that sells jewelry and perfume. He's got 10 bucks. He goes in there and gets a cubic, a cone and a little bottle of cheap perfume and gives it to her for Valentine's day.
A cheap bottle of perfume. Oh no. That's my guy. I like him.
Good try though, Billy. Thank you very much. All right.
The number to call 706-863-5800 or 224 or 800-224-9090. Where are we heading? Next. That's Carolyn. Fantastic. Hey Carolyn, welcome to the CNC auto show.
And what can we help with? Yes. Yes. Thank you. I have a Carl Love story. Oh, fantastic. We are ready.
Okay. Not 2020, but in 1920s and it happened in Madison County, Georgia, near Commerce, Georgia to my aunt Florence and uncle Walter. They drove up in their car and not many people those days even had cars.
So it was really rare that they had one. They drove up to a man's house and when you drive up in those days, the car, the dogs would bark and bark and so the house owner would come out. So the man came out of the house because he heard the car come up with the dogs barking. So he went out to their car and this man was the justice of the peace. And so he married aunt Florence and uncle Walter right there in their car and they just got married and then drove right on away. So they didn't even get out of the car. They just pulled up and he married them.
Didn't even get out of the car. That's right. So this is a story and so aunt Florence lived almost 100 years. So she died about 20 years ago. So she lived kind of that whole century, the whole century there leading up to this century.
So this story has kept us going all this time. Well, you know with all the things going on now with the COVID-19, all this other stuff happening and less people being able to gather together, that might be something that could be advertised and work very well now. I mean, you just pull up in your car and they come out and boom, you're married.
Well, what was so special about that is most people didn't even have cars then, but they did and so most people would have just had to go up in their wagon or their buggy or whatever. And Carolyn, that has to be less money than a regular wedding. Found to be. Yes. All right. Well, Carolyn, thank you. That's a beautiful story and we appreciate it.
And that was in 1920. Beautiful. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Hey, that was almost like watching the movie Titanic. I loved it. I got into that one.
Okay. Where are we heading? Let's see if Donna's got a story for us. Hello, Donna, and welcome to the CNC Auto Show. And what can we help you with?
Yes. Good morning. We love CNC. My love story about a car starts out without a car. My husband was a young GI out of Fort Gordon 40 years ago and he couldn't get home to get his car after basic training. And so, he had to take a taxi to the local skating rink, which is where we met.
And he only could date by hits and rides and getting taxis, but it was quite a romantic thing. He finally got leave come Thanksgiving time and went up and got his MGB, a 1973 white rag top. He was driving it down back to Georgia here and he had an accident. He kind of busted up his front and his side and his back and it caught on fire this little bit.
So, the car survived, made it to Georgia and he couldn't afford to fix it. We were real young. He was private, I think, and so he decided to be creative and write my name over the side of the car where it had been crushed. Oh!
Yeah. It was sweet little hearts and everything. Donna, that is a beautiful car-related love story.
Andy got a license plate with my name on it and I'll leave out the part where we had to drive to New Hampshire for our first Christmas to visit his parents and the heater went out and we arrived pretty nearly frostbitten at his parents' front door. So, the car didn't make it because we had to leave it in Florida to go to Germany, but we did. We made it 40 years, so that was our beginning in the ragtop MGB. We have not bought another one, but it's fond memories.
Oh, Donna. You talk in my language when you're talking to MGs because that used to be one of my favorite cars that I had at one time. Technically, we still have one. Yeah, we still have one that we're restoring, but the one I had a long time ago, I wish I'd have kept it.
I had the MG Midget. It was a lot of fun. Yeah, he wished he would have kept it too, but it didn't last in Florida.
That rest is all, you know? But it was a great car. I don't even think we have a picture of it anywhere.
That's kind of sad. Well, Donna, let's both tell everybody from now on that because I have so many cars that I didn't take pictures of, my Dune Buggy, my MG, my 280, I may have some pictures of it somewhere, but I doubt it. But everybody, if you've got a car that you love, take some pictures of your car too. And if it's a car-related love story, take the pictures of the one you love with your car.
That's right. Okay. All right, John Ryan. If you have a short car-related love story, you could win a $50 gift card and just dial 800-224-9090 or 706-863-5800. Saturday mornings 805-10 and we would love to hear your story. Also, we're open for car questions too. If you have a question about your car, you can give us a call. And as soon as we return, we'll be going to William and Bill.
We'll be right back after these messages. Today's OE fix from Dorman, intake manifolds, a failing variable intake manifold control system can cause rough running and throw off a check engine light. The original equipment intake manifold on certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles fail when the pivot linkage connecting the two variable intake flapper valve shafts shear from fatigue. This Dorman OE fix intake manifold has been completely re-engineered for greater durability. The flapper valve shafts are made from thicker material for improved strength, and the shafts are supported by additional bearings to reduce stress points that led to the failure in the factory design. It matches the original manifold's dimensions for trouble-free installation and has been quality tested to ensure a long service life.
With applications for a large number of vehicles, you can find Dorman intake manifolds in addition to other products at most automotive retailers and at DormanProducts.com. That's DormanProducts.com. Welcome back to more of the CNC Auto Show with Aaron Clements and John Ryan Mooney. That's the girl what she wanted to be.
She said, baby, can't you see? I want to be famous and startle the screen, but you can do something if you need me. And if you do have a question about your car truck or SUV, you give us a call and we can help.
If you have a short car related love story, we can help there too, because we would love for you to enter our contest where you could win a $50 gift card and all you have to do is dial 1-800-224-9090 or 863-706-8635-800. That's on Saturday mornings at five to 10 Eastern time. You can also watch us live on Facebook or at ccautoshow.com John Ryan. Where are we going? Uh, William's been holding. Let's go to him.
I think that'd be great. William. We welcome you to the CNC Auto Show. Good morning, sir. And good morning.
What can we help with? I was going to try that old tech tip thing. Oh, hold on. You know what happens next? Yes, sir. Okay.
William, fix your collar. Okay. Now what is the answer to today's tech tip quiz? Well, you know, a lot of jewelry stores, specialty jewelry stores, they sell more than just perfume and uh, and uh, jewelry. So I think he went in there and bought a key ring and put it on a little boxes and wrapped it up and had a key to her new car or vehicle in it. Oh.
William, that's not the answer, but that they sell more than just perfume and stuff that you might be on to something. Now you didn't get the odd button. I can't take it back once. Somebody's had the odd button. That's it. I mean, it's, it's, it's, it's done. He's gotten to where he likes it. Yeah.
Once that toothpaste is out of the tube, it won't go back in. Oh, you used to like the fog horn. I still like the fog horn button. Well, I say, I say, I say we'll, we'll check on the fog horn button.
How's that? Hey, thank you very much. We appreciate the good, good effort. Thank you. You too. Okay.
Number to call 706-8635-800 or 800-224-9090. Where are we heading? Let's see if we can squeeze two more stories on because I believe our judge has called in. Oh, okay. All right. So Bill. Okay. Bill.
Uh, we are, you're in the running. What's the car related love story? Okay. A little over 53 years ago, I got married and my mama let me borrow her Bonneville convertible, but she made me promise I wouldn't let anybody know that that's what we were going in. She swarmed down all of my groomsmen and my wife's bridesmaids.
There was no way she would let them have me have her new Bonneville. They decorated up my Mustang and my wife's Fairlane and after the wedding, my mama and grandmama had to ride from Williamsburg to North Augusta in a decorated Fairlane and my daddy had to drive home in a decorated Mustang and that marriage is still holding true. Oh, that was a great story. We appreciate it. All right.
Thank you bill. Okay. All right. I'm gonna squeeze one more. Yeah.
I think we can get another one in there. Let's go. Let's go.
Right. Welcome to the CNC auto show. And what can we help you with? Good morning, Aaron. I want to talk about a love story as well. Fantastic.
Well, you're talking about that MG made me smile. Okay. Right. You are. We are ready to hear your love story. Car related road. Love story.
It's an anti love story. To be honest with you. I had a, I had an MG midget and I was so happy to have an MG midget. My mom insisted that I buy the MG midget as a young man. I was quite amorous.
So like to sow wild oats, as you can imagine, I was excited. I was excited about this MG. Little did I know that it was basically a birth control device. There's absolutely no way to go parking in an MG. No, well, you do have a point there.
That would be a little tricky. It was, it was amazing. Well, it's a generational anti love story because I went through 18, 19, 20 years old driving this MG, none worse for wear, not realizing how insidious my mother was and insisting I have this car. When my own children reached 18, 19, 20 years old, it became time to buy them a car, go back and forth to school in, what did I buy them?
A smart car, because once again, and to this day to right now, no one knows that was the reason why we had that little bitty smart car in the driveway. So it's not exactly a love story. It's an anti love story, but you're telling about your MG just made me smile. That's awesome. Oh, fantastic. Right. Thank you very much. Beautiful story. And I appreciate you.
And so the MG midgets will keep you out of trouble and the smart car and the smart cars. Okay. John Ryan, where do we go? I believe this is our judge on. I think that'd be the right thing to do. And I'm four minutes left, so we'll have to make a decision here.
Yes. It, it is that time and it's time to pick a winner for our car related love story. And we have our judges on the line and we have sweethearts, James and John Pate, James and John, uh, will be, they have been listening to the show. They have been carefully pouring over all the entries and they are ready to give us a winner gem. Welcome to the CNC auto show. Good morning.
Good morning. And it looks like we had, yeah, we had seven today, which is nice. And we had some stories, all sorts of angles, all sorts of, I guess you'd say scenarios that you could, couldn't imagine.
So they all gotta be true. Very interesting stories, but we did come up with a winner because of a few criteria. And the winner is Donna with her story on the MGB and we thought it was great that that car lasted as long as it could through thick and thin. And we thought it was sweet that her husband painted her name on the side of the car and put a license plate on the back of it with her name. And it's great that they've been together still for 40 years and that that car has fond memories for them.
Right. They, the couple and the love affair supported by automobiles, both the taxi and the MGB, but the couple survived all the cars and all the hardships. That's a love story. And Jen, would you two agree, oh, listen to the crowd, that's a little bit of a weak crowd. Would you two agree that, uh, that for whatever reason, the MG was a very romantic car at that time?
Well, I do remember with my brother had them, uh, and I think he had some really great relationships with young ladies at the time. I would have thought it was him. Maybe it was the car. Yeah, that it had to have been, Hey, and I do appreciate you both being judges for, for the contest. And now Donna will be able to give us a call this, uh, at, at our, uh, at the 800-224-9090 and be able to claim her prize.
She could do that after the show and we'll get her squared away on hers. And you two, if I'm not mistaken, will be the judges for the second hour. Is that correct? That's correct. We're turning to a new page, ready to take notes on the calls as they come in and enjoy listening to the stories and maybe pick up a car tip here and there along the way.
Exactly. Well, we really do appreciate that very much. And we, uh, the time clock's on the, we do need to pull over for now, but we will be back on the road.
No time. I'm Aaron Clements here with co-host John Ryan Mooney and show producer, Mason Rogers. And we want to say thank you to all you that tuned in and logged in special. Thank you to all of you that called in with car related love stories, and we'll be back with more of the CNC auto show before you know it.
