I am Bart Winkler. Great to be with you on this Thursday, December five, the posting of this episode, we will have it. This week, taping that on December six that will be Friday, simply because we want to be able to talk about the Packers game that will be played on Thursday night football between them and the Detroit Lions Detroit Lions at last check. That's a three and a half point favorite.
I would probably like all these pools I do on draft kings or whatever. I'll take the Packers, you know, but if I were to bet $8 on this game I would probably take Detroit, I understand the reasons why the Packers can win. I still I still think Detroit is better than us.
I know it's Toyota thon I'm a big believer in Jordan love during Toyota thon. So I'm a big believer in that but I think that where they're at right now. The Lions have an edge over the Packers Packers I would put, you know, the Vikings beat them will see that game again. I'll see that game with thine own eyes should all go to plan. But the Vikings we still think are like, 10 and two. It's interesting because I think the Lions need this game, more than the Packers do the Lions need this game to stay in front in the NFC North where two teams are right on them. They need this game to make sure that they can have the number one seed, where the Eagles are right behind them.
The Packers. Yeah, you need this game if you want to keep your number one playoff seed hopes alive or the NFC North but I just I don't I don't. I don't think that that's a realistic goal even with the nine wins that they're at right now, and the Packers if they lose they're still going to be. At worst two games ahead of a Rams team for the wild card or a Cardinals team or one of these teams that they beat. So, Lions probably need the game more tonight which is kind of weird to say when it's an eleven and one versus nine and three. The way that the NFC is sort of formatting itself is you're going to have the Lions and Eagles with two really good records and then the next the next best records are going to be the five six and possibly seven seeds with the disaster that's going on in the NFC West. The disaster that's going on in the NFC South, which I still think Tampa is able to get back to the number one spot in that division. So we'll have coming up on Friday to recap some stuff that we saw on that and to talk more about the Milwaukee Bucks, which we're going to do here today. We'll talk some Badgers football here today as well and anything else that may come up with you.

I'm a rare kind of guy. There's people that say, you got to say happy holidays. There's people that say you got to say Merry Christmas. Guess what I say? Both.
I say happy holidays and I say Merry Christmas. How about that? Where does that put me?
Where does that slot me? Big news for the Milwaukee Bucks. What a way to wipe off the taste of the loss that they had to the Hawks which the Hawks, the Hawks, the Hawks might be okay.
They might, they might be a team that, you know, you got to contend with. The Hawks were just a team. Remember, we had a back to back with the Cavs not too long ago. Bucks lost both those games. Cavs still playing very well at nineteen and three but the Hawks sit in there at twelve and eleven and they just beat the Cavs a couple of times.
So, those were some eye-opening games. They won five in a row now. Atlanta has uh best winning streak in the Eastern Conference. They won five in a row. The Bucks had the best winning streak in the Eastern Conference was seven in a row and then obviously lost that game to the Hawks but I think even at eleven and ten, um you know, it's funny I was talking last night about the Lakers and they're twelve and ten and they kind of feel bad about that because last year at this point, they were thirteen and nine with Darvin Ham.
They fired him to go to JJ Reddick but I think at eleven and ten, you gotta like it's it's it's alright to feel good as a Bucks fan about eleven and ten. You're over the top six line. You started so bad. You started two and eight.
So, since then, you've gone nine and two. Um you know, Houston was a game that was a nice win in there. You always like to beat Indiana. Miami, they tried to blow that game but couldn't. Detroit's playing better. Schedule will start to get a little tougher again with Boston coming up this Friday. Uh the Magic next week have been playing well. The Cavs again on the twentieth um and the Magic with that that NBA Cup that I think I like but I'm not sure. I think I do.
I'm just trying to make sure that I do like it. Um Cavs will be after the whole NBA Cup experience. Again, we don't know who the Bucks are going to play. They're going to have a couple more games between the tenth and the twentieth. We don't know who that's going to be. Probably the loser of the other NBA Cup Eastern Conference game. Weird part of this. I think next year, they're going to copy the WNBA's lead and do uh like have all the games at the like in the in one four-week span in the NBA Cup.
Because a lot of people see the courts on a Tuesday or they see the courts on a Friday and they're like, what is happening? What is going on? But I think the Bucks have been playing well. Um Chris Middleton, Barry the lead is coming back on Friday against the Boston Celtics. Will he start? Should he start? Will he come off the bench? Should he come off the bench? Should Bobby Portis ever play again? A lot of people have that thought every time Bobby Portis takes the court including last night where the game started to turn on a little stretch that he had. So, we'll see Chris Middleton coming back. We've got an NBA Cup quarterfinal coming back.

That's Indeed.com slash Blue Wire. Terms and conditions apply. Need to hire?
You need Indeed. Fellow NBA Cup enthusiasts, Tim Shea. Bring home the cup! Bring home the cup!
Bring home the cup! I'm surprised you don't have your cup shirt. Didn't you get a cup shirt last year? Well, that's when they called it the in-season playoffs. I need a new Emirates NBA Cup shirt.
Or in-season tournament. Tim, I got into a game. But I think I got into it. I was kind of pacing around the other night. But I was kind of pacing around because they had a 20-some point lead against the Heat.
I think I was more pacing because I didn't want them to blow a 20-some point lead against the Heat than I was, Oh, I really want to be in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. But I agree with Doc. You put a tournament in front of us, we're going to try to win it. I love that quote. 100%. I like that attitude. I do. So, are you pumped about Middleton coming back?
Sure. I mean, we'll see. We'll see. We'll see. The question is, how long is he going to come back for before he's hurt again?
That is the key question. I'll set the over-under. Game's played until he gets hurt again.
I'll set it at eight and a half. Well, it's clear that they've been saving him for the NBA Cup playoffs and they just want to get him a tune-up before that happens. Oh, okay. All right.
I mean, don't you agree? Yes. What are you sipping on? Diet Coke. Diet Coke?
From where? McDonald's. Oh, you get breakfast or probably too late? No, just the Diet Coke.
Oh, I do that sometimes. They're so good. Yeah.
They're bringing back snack wraps. Oh, really? Yeah, they didn't announce when.
They just put like sometime in 2025. Okay. I'll have to check it out.
I'm very excited. I love McDonald's. McDonald's is the one place where I order the food. And you know how sometimes you eat fast food and you're like, ugh.
Just the ordering of the food. I already start to feel that in my stomach before I even eat the food. But I still eat the food. Have you tried the new Chicken Big Mac? I haven't. Okay. And I've never tried the Kurter Burger either at Culver's. You know what?
I never have either. Is that still on the menu or no? I just had Culver's last night. Maybe we should go out for lunch sometime soon. If we go out for lunch, I want there to be beers.
We can bring our own beers to Culver's. Remember when we lost our jobs and went to the Mecca? I do. You took me out. You paid for it. I did. Technically, you didn't really lose your job.
You kind of actually... I failed upwards. Yeah. I failed upwards. Speaking of failing, this is where we need you. Oh, boy.
I know where this is going to go. They're not even making a bowl game, the Wisconsin Badgers. When's the last time that happened?
22 years ago? I mean, we've taken it for granted. I think we took for granted a long time that the Badgers are going to be like this team that wins eight or nine games and can run the football. Now they can do either.
Neither. Other than getting 15 more practices, do bowl games really mean anything these days now with the playoff? No.
They don't. No, but to make a bowl game, all you have to do is go 500. And then you give your fans one more reason to go out to the bar around Christmas time. Exactly. Or for me to go buy a pinstripe bowl sweatshirt. You did not. In fact, yeah.
I got the same one Paul Chris got. Oh, no. Yankee Stadium in it. Come on.
It's pretty cool. So they fired Phil Longo during the season. That didn't help too much. That Minnesota game, it's like, what am I even watching? I said the same thing. And then what were they down 21-7, then they kicked the field goal and missed that? I'm like, I have better things to do.
I think after punt 8, I'm like, what are we doing here? And the game was at home. I know. Vacation shocked on Black Friday. You took that vacation?
I took it, but it was a come and go. Remember when we thought they might beat Oregon too? Yes. They should have beaten Oregon. So why are they bad? I'm just asking you. Why are they bad? Why are the Wisconsin Badgers bad? Tim doesn't want to answer the question.
He completely went away. This is a good time. I want to show you guys this before Tim comes back on and tries to come up with an answer. Spotify Wrapped came out, not just for listeners, but for podcasters. And I want to show people what else you guys listen to. If you listen to this show. Hold on, I got something fun. If you listen to this show, Spotify has told me that we are the top show for a grand total of 133 people, which I think is actually way more than I thought it was. Oh, there we go.
What were the other numbers I liked? We're a top five show for 500 people. Okay. I don't know. For our lack of consistency, I'm pretty happy about that. If this was my full-time job, I don't know.
That's not bad. So people that listen to Into the WinklerVerse specifically, not my real job. What else do they listen to? Here are the top five other podcasts that people that listen to Into the WinklerVerse listen to. Do you see at number five is Locked on Packers with Pete Bukowski. At number four is the Bill Simmons podcast, which is kind of interesting. And number three is Andy Herman and the Packaday podcast. This is no surprise. And number two is Pardon My Take. Good.
At number one is the Joe Rogan Experience. Oh, we're screwed. We're all screwed. I was just surprised, let me say, to see that. I'm not. But it's the number one.
I mean, it was the number one. Yeah. Whatever. I'll take it. Back to my badges real quick.
Yeah. All I asked you was why are they bad and you disappeared. Just like the badgers, I disappeared. Why are they bad? They don't have a quarterback. They don't. They need a new defensive coordinator.
Hell. Special teams is fine. We saw that at the last game.
Except the missed field goal, but the punting was great. If they had Van Dyke, if he never got hurt, would this have gone any better? I don't know. It sucks that that happened. I don't think so.
I don't think he was a guy either. I don't know what they're going to do, what you do. They got this freshman the other day. Great. They're going to probably go in the portal again and get a quarterback.
So, I don't know. They got to change it soon, you know, quickly. Just got to turn this around from a five-win team to what, eight? They got to get eight wins? You thought the schedule was brutal this year? Just wait until next year. The thing with the portal, and I'll look at the schedule. The thing with the portal and even like the recruiting class, because I was talking to some buddies and my one friend's really excited about Fickle's class that's coming in.
But if you are going to spend all this time, and National Signing Day is always interesting because half of the country, it's the biggest day of their sports radio year, and half of the country didn't even know that it started, including our half in Wisconsin. But I don't, like, if you're going to get this big recruiting class and then not play the young guys as much and then you have a bad season, they're just going to be like, this is no fun. I'm going to transfer out. I got recruited, I got in, and now I can transfer somewhere better. Essentially, there's 15 teams that kids want to play for, and if you can't get in there right away, we're a stepping stone, I think. For right now, yeah. So if this recruiting class is so great, that's great.
But then are they going to play, and are they going to stay? What are these guys that are going to be here as juniors? Is 23 really great? That's where I think they were ranked.
23rd, 22nd, 24th. Is that really that great? I don't know. I mean, it seems fine.
Oh, it's just okay. So, you know that picture that they put on the internet, like society, if something would have happened. Yeah.
It's like futuristic. Is that what the Badgers program would have been if they hired Jim Leonard? I don't know if Jim Leonard, I don't know. When you go to games at Camp Randall, are people still whispering Jim Leonard to each other? All the...
The guy that sits in front of me yells at any time anything bad happens. Why do we go around to Camp Leonard? We'll never let it go.
We'll never let it go. The schedule next year for the Badgers, and not all the dates and times are out and stuff, but the first three games you're going to have Miami of Ohio, Middle Tennessee, hopefully you're 2-0 by the time you have to go to Bryan Denny Stadium to play Alabama. A return trip. The Big Ten schedule is at Indiana. Yeah, these are not in any specific order. Right. But here's the four road games. At Indiana, they're good. At Michigan, you're not going to win there. At Minnesota, you can't beat them at home. At Oregon, now you're 2-5. Their home games are Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Ohio State, and Washington. I don't know if there's over-unders yet for next year, but I think the Badgers... Four and a half.
Yeah, exactly what I was going to say. If you think the Badgers can win five games, then you can make yourself some money. Four and a half, exactly what I was going to say. So if that's the case, win-win, and even with a lighter schedule, I mean, I still... What are we saying?
Six or seven? I think I heard 27 is when the schedule gets... Like, Indiana this year. How they play... Nobody in the Big Ten and went 10-1.
Yeah. In 26, you're at Penn State. In 26, you're playing Notre Dame and Lambeau. In 27, you're playing Pitt in Dublin. You going to take a vacation to that? I can't wait for that vacation. That might be a two-dayer.
But no Ohio State, no Oregon, Penn State at home, no Michigan. A two-dayer. A two-dayer. You'll spend another night in Ireland.
That's smart. So, like, are they... We didn't make a bowl, which ended a streak, but now I fear there's going to be another streak of not making bowls. Like, now this will be a streak. Like, two years of losing? Three years of losing, potentially? You know, I don't know. I wouldn't say they're a mess, but they're borderline. They're borderline. Do you have any gripe with the way the playoff is going to probably look?
No, I don't. I mean, you wanted more teams in it, and now people are bitching that 13, 14, and 15 iron in it. Yeah. I wish they would say, like, I wish they would just come out and say, all right, here's what we did. Alabama, we're just putting them in over Miami and South Carolina and Ole Miss.
If you don't like it, we understand, but that is what we think, and that is what we are doing. We are putting them in over these teams. Now, there are still conference games yet to be played, and should Boise State and or SMU lose, Alabama is not going to leapfrog one of them. So they're still in. What they're playing for is the opportunity, but then they wouldn't play as hard.
I don't know. I don't like that you could have SMU play a conference championship game in a power four and lose, and then Boise State, if they lose, they would have only lost to UNLV and Oregon, who they almost beat. I'm not convinced that if SMU loses, that they're in. I think Alabama is going to bump them. If SMU loses, that's the same as Miami. Two losses, they played nobody. Pretty much the same schedule, too.
I just think that... I don't know how you can justify them then being in. I mean, they do have that extra game in the playoff, or the ACC championship game, and that really shouldn't count. One thing that bothers me about it is, because if this was a four-team playoff, oh, my God, Texas, Georgia would be so huge. Penn State, Oregon would be so huge, and then there's a chance that Texas and Oregon could still lose, but then they'd still put them in. Does Notre Dame get screwed somehow?
You know what happens. It'd be crazy, but I don't like that what's happened is... And I do think it's better, and I think the playoffs, once we get into it, is going to be insanely fun. But there were some teams that had the opportunity to cement themselves in and blew it. Yeah, I think you sort of have to look at that as like, that loss Alabama had to Oklahoma, you have to be punished for that. And the loss Miami had against Syracuse, you should be punished for that. And Ohio State is technically getting away with it because they would have probably lost to Oregon anyway.
I don't know. That would have been a good thing. But still, they're most likely going to lose to Michigan at home and then host a first-round game. Tennessee, yeah. And there's no consequence for them losing to Michigan.
Ryan Day would have been fired on Sunday if this was a four-team playoff. They might flip that, depending what happens and seeding and whatnot. They might flip that where they have to go to Tennessee. That's what they should do. But they have no reason to. Make them play on the road, at least, in the playoffs.
I think they still... They already should have done that. What are they going to see after this weekend that changes their mind? No, no, I'm saying they should flip Ohio State with seeding and whatnot. Well, they should, but now that they've already put them there, how will they justify that? Just because of games this weekend or something.
I mean, sure. SMU loses or Clemson wins. They got to... Obviously, if Clemson wins, Clemson goes to a top four seed. Not ranking, but seed. Rankings and seeding are two total different things, obviously.
You know that, but... You know, if they're going to do some mumble jumbling around and you got to move Boise State or whatever, you can totally justify saying, hey, we're going to move Ohio State to the nine and... Whatever. I don't know. I just... Abe wants to know if you are in a self-driving car, a common question that comes up on this show.
Yes. Siri, turn left. Tim's in a Cybertruck.
There's a... I see more popping around every day. There's one guy whose license plate is Cybertruck.
Like, way to go as far as to buy a Cybertruck and then have your license plate be Cybertruck. You want some more podcast fun facts? Sure, yeah. Here's the breakdown of audience. Two percent of our listeners are 18 to 24.
Okay. The biggest group age-wise is 35 to 44. 46%. So we are an advertiser's dream, is what I'm saying. We are. We get right into that pocket.
Those are the people that have discretionary spending or are supposed to at this age. I see some other facts. There's Joe Rogan again. What else do people like about the show? You know what's going to be really fun about the playoffs is that the first round is at the... Stadiums. Home stadium.
So people get to host. Yeah, the whole thing's going to be fun. The only thing I'm a little bummed about is... You won't get your traditional Rose Bowl? Oh, I never cared about that.
Oh, okay. The only thing I'm bummed about is that some of the first round games are going to be on the same day as some really good NFL games that I want to watch. Friday, Saturday? Saturday, yeah. I like the Friday night game. Yeah, me too. Three Saturdays, right?
Something like that. Yeah, that'll be good. I like when there's games on during my show so I have something to not prepare for. And I want that game to be like an SEC team going to Penn State or going to Ohio State or Ohio State going down to Tennessee or Alabama going to Notre Dame. That will be a great game, by the way, if that comes to fruition. Alabama and Notre Dame. As much as people don't want Alabama in... Well, the number one thing that I have with the college football playoff is I want it to feel more like they are selecting teams based on what they've done and not what on potential point spreads of future matchups might look like.
Because I feel like they do that more. Okay. Chad says Badger's football program has become irrelevant. Fickle isn't the guy for this job. He was the hotshot coaching candidate at the time and we were shocked when we hired him. Remember, we thought he was going to use this job to go to Ohio State. I think... Go back. I think... Just give him another year. I'm one, I think, in the minority where you got to do the full cycle here. You can't...
These are Paul Chris guys. We know how bad... Full cycle doesn't exist anymore. There's NIL. There's transfers that don't exist. But stuff happened. Van Dyke got hurt. Last year Mordecai got hurt. Like, I will... Well, he's not bringing in guys that are going to get hurt. Well, that's not their fault. Read some tarot cards or look into a crystal ball or read a fortune cookie or something. That's why this cycle is very important from transfers to recruiting.
I mean, Paul Chris had a 56-rank class. That ain't going to get it done at all. That's where the problem started with. So once these guys go away... How come every time if we just are on the phone, you're at a house, but every time we are on the show, you're in your car? Like, where do you even have to go?
I don't know. Where are you even going? I just thought it was a bit in my car, so I just drive around.
Well, I'd like to reimburse you for gas then. No, trust me. I'm literally just going in circles. You're not even going anywhere? My neighbors are probably like, what the fuck is he doing?
You're not serious, are you? Okay. I'm right outside. I'm right outside your house. We were going to do this yesterday, but my neighbors are chopping down their giant dead tree. So that was a full day of noise and excitement.
And then they parked on my lawn. Hey, real quickly, since we're talking about the Badgers, let's go over to basketball real quick. Big game this weekend. Well, they lost to Michigan. I mean, are we sad about that, or do we care? Yeah, that's kind of a little, you know, that's a big 10 game. You're all in one now. For people that don't know, the bottom four teams, God forbid the Badgers end up there in basketball.
I don't think they will, but the bottom four teams of the new big 10 in basketball do not make the big 10 tournament. Oh yeah, wow. My boy Doug Gottlieb's two and seven. Yeah, not having the year that we thought he would. The big Green Bay Milwaukee matchups next week. Ooh, that was fierce last year. Yeah. But yeah, Marquette, Wisconsin, Saturday, I'll be there, boots on the ground. I'll be, I think I'm going to be at Nutcracker.
Oh, that'll be fun. We went to Rudolph last week. Yeah. It's at the Todd Ware Center.
How was it? You know that place? Todd Ware Center. Yes.
It's in the Marcus little property. Yes. Yep. And there's the, there's like a, there's like a stage and you can also sit in a balcony. It's very intimate.
Yes. But I haven't been there since I was in like fifth grade and I walked back in there. I'm like, Oh my God, we took a field trip here one day. I thought that would be more interesting. Yeah, I did too.
I thought you were going somewhere. No, Rudolph was good. Kid liked it enough. There was the abominable snowman.
They made him real good. Oh yes. Yep. Yep.
Then we came home and then watched the movie of the thing we had just seen. There you go. That's even better. Mm-hmm. So that was good. So I'd recommend if you've got some kiddos and need to kill some time here with the weather being as shit as it is.
Check out Rudolph. Definitely. Pete says, sounds like Tim's blinker is in need of replacement. It is. I am getting a new blinker this weekend. Who you are. You're not. Yes I am.
We'll check the next time I'm on the show. Where do you get a new blinker? Like a dealership? No, you just go to like advance auto parts and buy a blinker.
They don't have like blinkeries plus? No. Yeah. No.
That's a shame. Anything else you excited for the game tonight? Yeah. Yeah. I have good feeling about tonight.
A lot of people say they do. It'll be close. $31.28. Something around there. Packers. I don't like that I got to be on the air for it. Like it's one thing to be on the air immediately after it.
Yeah. But during it. Usually what happens is the whole first half I can watch with commentary and stuff and then the second half I'm watching on mute while doing the show. What about, do you stream? Are you streaming? Do you stream your show show? No. On video? Yeah.
We don't have video set up yet. Okay. But I need to.
Because I think the show, I'm very proud with the Bart Winkler show on the Infinity Sports Network. I think we're doing a good thing. It's been a while since I've listened. You know why I can't listen. All right. Right. Because we've gone off the air. We hate each other.
Just like everyone I ever worked with. But it's the other stuff that I need. It's like, okay, if I'm just on the radio, I'm on the radio and people listen and they're like, oh, that was nice. But I need to be like making reels and I need to be doing all this other shit.
I'm a 40 year old man. So are you just going to do commentary of the game tonight then? No. I'll talk about the Atlanta Falcons and college football the first hour. And then once the game ends, we'll talk about it. Because you'll probably be in the game the rest of the show off, right?
A good portion of it. But then I'm not on in Milwaukee because then they do their show. Oh, yes. So real diehards will have to listen to the Odyssey app. Or I'll be able to provide my Packers postgame on 670 the score and not anywhere in Wisconsin.
Yeah, I forgot about that. There's the postgame show. Feel free to call in on your way in. Well, you're off by the time I'm driving in.
You just get over. I'll text you. I'll listen to you tomorrow night because I actually plan on seeing you after your show tomorrow night. I got to talk to you about that. No, you have to. You have to show up tomorrow night.
It's not even a question. I need to talk to you. You have to.
Ten minutes. That's all. All right.
Well, I urgently need to talk to you about that. Not on the show. So thank you for stopping in, everyone. To the Winklerverse.
Hey. Next time we talk, Willie Adonis will have landed somewhere. Dodgers? I think in the Yankees. Where do you think Soto goes?
Houston. I'm just throwing a surprise team out there. I think Mets or Red Sox. I'll go Red Sox if I got to pick one of those two Red Sox. Red Sox are borderline irrelevant.
Very borderline. How do they get back to what they were by taking the Yankees guy? Soto. Because a lot of people are like, well, if they were going to sign Soto, why didn't they just sign Betts? Oh, I was down in Chicago last week, and talking to Cubs fans, they're freaking out because they ain't spending money this year. That doesn't make sense to me. They're a smaller market than us. I know.
They're trying to be like us. We lost Frankie Montas. Yeah, we did. The coupon code for Happy Place Hemp is Bart, B-A-R-T, 25% off.
B-A-R-T. Bart. All right, let's talk one more time before the Christmas and the New Year. You and me?
Yeah. Oh, I thought we would have a live show while we were opening presents with our families. We can do that.
I thought we would do that. All right, Tim, love you. Love you too, Bart. Thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse, especially the 133 of you that die for this shit. Go, Brew Crew. Go, Brew Crew. See you, buddy. Beat the Yankees, March 29th.
