Okay, now edit that part back in after I actually do. anything to my website. I believe the last podcast There was an RSS feed. I believe the last podcast that's sent to the website. Bart Winkler Show is from July.

Of 2025.

So I do need to fix that. Uh if I'm going to even have this URL. Any further? Packers won. We'll get into that.

Brewers are going to win a hundred games. We'll get into that. What can't you hear, Paul? I'm on left. What is Jalen Duran?

Why is everyone talking about Jalen Duran today? Is there something there? This is the real topic I want to get into. I would say Paul probably has a question prepared on that. I mean, I would love to do 20 minutes.

Jail. You know he's friend of show, by the way. No, I did not know that. Really? Yeah, I had him on.

They want they had something. And Gelp was gonna have him on, but it was a weekend. And he's like, have you know Bart will Take the interview for sure.

So I had Jalen Duran on, and I'm a big Jalen Duran guy. Nice. Because I'm a big like... Pistons guy. Oh, that's right.

I like this team. I don't. like the pistons, but I identified that they were going to be okay. Yeah, you did. And Dern was one of those guys, and then we talked, and he didn't give me much.

I've always liked them. Until like the postseason when he Stop. Decided not to try. He was really bad in the postseason. Really?

You know, in baseball, it's like. Kershaw sucked in the postseason forever. But people are still like, ah, well, that's. What are you going to do? And then and then he du dominates in the regular season again.

It didn't affect his image. It affected his postseason image, but not his image. In this case, it affected his image.

Well, it did, but he's also twenty-two. Yeah. Does he have an image to effect? Pete Grant, he was statistically. I mean, first of all, he was an all-NBA player last year.

Oh.

So arguably one of the 15 best players in the regular season. And then Cannot shoot. Nope. Is he a good defender? Great defender in the paint, great finisher.

Great deterioration. Like, he's great at everything except stretching the floor, which is why, in one way of thinking about this, I've been saying this since the Giannis trade, which is that the Pistons, if I was the Pistons, I would have a better chance at competing in the East next season. If I had Tyler Hero and Miles Turner than Jalen Duran, even though Jalen Durren is a better player than Turner and Hero combined, because part of the connection here is the Pistons just gave $31 million a year to Asar Thompson, who also can't shoot.

So Cade Cunningham is on a team with a bunch of guys who can't space the floor, and it just clogs everything up. And you saw that happen in the postseason, where all of a sudden Duran went from being one of the 15 best players in the league in the regular season to being in the way. And where Paul Reed was a better contributor to the Pistons in the playoffs. Let's not be shitting on Paul Reed. You're going to do worse than Paul Reed as a backup big man.

No, he's actually the third string because Isaiah Stewart. Beef stew was the backup. And then But no, so it was a disastrous playoffs. And so, but now I'm actually seeing like Pistons fan accounts and blog accounts saying essentially. If we can get Turner for Durin, I'm like They're like excitedly.

And I'm like, first off, it makes sense on a basketball court. It makes more sense, but Turner is. Even at Turner's prime, and Duran hasn't reached his prime, Turner is still. Maybe 60% of the player Duran is. At least regular season during.

So, this is probably more than I expected to say in the middle of September, but it I I'm excited for even the possibility. And we know that John Horse will do this in September. Most teams are like, eh, I don't want to tinker. But if you're the Bucs, what do you have to lose? Even after their summer of fun, though?

Who? The Bucks? The Bucks. Which part was fun? The Miles Turner house party?

Oh, that stuff. I see what you're saying. Yeah. Giannis gave everybody with the heat shoes, including Karon Butler. And Butler's like, remember how you had to wear my shoes back in the day?

I didn't realize he was an assistant coach down there. Yeah, I signed walked right into Pat Riley's office. Um How do you forget about Isaiah Stewart? What What was the first? I heard two questions at once.

Neither were good. Did you know that crashes involving people and vulnerable users of the road are highest during this time of the year? There is Something going on on on capital. Uh over I'm going to say the east side, but you know I mean Shorewood. Because No one's listening to what I say.

It feels like, in fact, people are hearing what I say and then purposely. Trying to hit bikers. Because they don't like the message. Like, or it's just something where you hear a word for the first time. And then you like hear that word a hundred times and you're like.

Is this happening or has this always been happening? And I'm just noticing it because I'm paying attention. But there's been a lot of late, like five o'clock, six o'clock sirens going off, and like every time it's bikes and cars, and these two. Are running into each other, so we got to stop that. That's the message from the Wisconsin Bike Fed.

We want you to turn on your lights. I'm talking to you, the driver. You, the biker, you gotta slow down. You gotta look around. You gotta be careful.

The phone can wait. That's a big problem with all this. The phone can wait. And I say that to bikers too. Because I can't tell you how many times I've called my dad and he picks up, and it's just like.

Crazy wind. And he's like, oh, Lua, what's up? I'm like, dad, if you are biking. Do not answer my phone call.

Okay?

So let's everybody be safe. Hi, Dad. Uh when you listen to that, wisconsinbikefed.org. I think we can leave it there on the Bucs. As Paul checks his notes, I do want to bring up this Kyle Brand thing.

I need to, it's not that I need to shit on Chicago. Because I don't, I feel like I need to save Chicago. You need to tell them how to fan. Yeah. And and they are They need that.

We agree. I had him on Back in the 1250 days. And I shit on him a lot leading up to it. And then I was able to score an interview, and then I was nice. They call it the David Stearns Act.

I was gonna say, so you Stern's dim? Yeah. Here is Kyle Brandt.

So, what happened was Caleb Williams got hurt. And I talked about this on the post-game. Is I saw a kid once in a soccer game go down, and he was like screaming. Top of his lungs. You thought he got shot.

You thought something really bad happened. It was awful in a soccer game. And then he came back into the game later. And you were almost disappointed that he wasn't hurt more. Because if I just had to live through that reaction, like your reaction to your injury was so bad, it affected me.

I had to live through that. And Bears fans watch their season go away, leave the stadium, too sad to even say Green Bay sucks. And now it looks like Caleb could even play Monday. Or he's not going to be out even as long. It looks like you know, Packers Bears week five.

Should be fine for that, unless he fakes another. Performance or whatever, but Kyle Brandt, Bears fan. Bears fans, once they get to the national media, they can't handle it. They have a hard time. Or they go through, they must feel like Brewers fans because I felt.

Being a Midwest guy, like I was piddly-dee. But they must feel like that too. Being a Midwest guy because they act there, they get all crazy. Here's Kyle Brandt with a. Shadow behind him that needs to be corrected.

Bitch into Scott Van Pelt. In the wake of Taylor Williams' injury. that are bringing up the Madden curse in earnest. If you're doing that, you are horrible. You don't check any box of 2026 content.

It's not funny, clever, interesting, insightful, informative, cute. You're not even cringe because you don't qualify. Madden curse content. Is uninspired, mail-it-in troll dung. And if you were a segment producer of a radio show, a podcast, a TV show, preparing Monday show, do not include the word Madden in your Caleb covers.

You're smarter than that. I've seen Scott. Better tripe. Kicked out by artificial intelligence than I have seen coming from some of these media members. And we're in a war with technology right now.

You are losing it for the humans. And if you're making mad and cursed jokes, When the machines become self-aware, I hope they target you first. It's terrible. I hate them.

Okay, so he can. Ah, he can walk it back later and say he was doing a bid or a performance or whatever. He was crying. With without the use of tears. He was crying.

If he just delivers that whole thing with a grin, like it's, I don't know if it's funny, but it's like there's an angle there. That's a fine, but he was so serious. Yes, you're right. This is this is so like there's a million reasons. Why I hate Kirk Herb Street.

Yeah. The first one. Because I used to like Herb Street and Fowler, I like those games. It's a big game sound. And it still is.

Because you're anti-dog, continue. Yeah, because I hate all dogs. All of them. I don't even hate Kirk's dog. I hate Kirk, guys.

But he was like on. T V when it looked like Alabama was gonna get bounced. In favor of Ohio State, where he went. And he was like crying for the SEC. He was like crying.

that they weren't like. It's just very off-putting. And I'm sure I've, you know, had, you can find me crying or close to. I'm sure you can find a million things where Kyle Brandt says Madden curse. Also Somebody else this weekend did the, oh, Kyle Brandt will love that angry run.

Like every time that fucking pisses me off. I've talked about that. But that was this is bullshit. And this is the greater point with Chicago. Caleb Williams.

Went down. We thought it was season ending. By the look of it. The reaction of it, we thought it was possibly worse. Yeah.

You cannot. Have that. Reaction like Jackson Dart wanted to come back in, he's out for the year. Probably. Caleb Williams goes off.

In it, like. If you're an athlete, I gotta think one of the When you look back on your career, like when I was hurt. I fist pump the crowd. I work my way back. That's like an incredible moment for you.

That's something you're very proud of. Caleb stole. The moment from his lack of recovery. Like he fabricated that. And invalid.

It is ripe to pick on. It is ripe to pick on. And they should pick on it. And Bears fans should be picking on it too. But Bears fans After shitting on him for two years.

because of crying And fingernails. They have now I don't know what, but they. They treat him like he is their daughter. They protect him the way a dad would protect his daughter. Not that you would know, by the way.

Not that I would know. I am a Boy, Dad. Not a real dad. Not a girl dad. And I don't say that in jest.

I understand where I stand on the dad. Totem poll. I'm not saying this like I'm just a boy dad, uh, nobody care, I mean it. Girl dads, I can be the best. Boydad ever.

Meaningless. meaningless because I'm not raising the future daughter. The future of women. The future, dare I say, leaders. Of the world.

I'm just raising another, another fucking piece of skin and bones that you ask them what they want to be when they grow up. And it's a fucking YouTuber. That's what I'm contributing to society. You're raising actual. Productive members of society that are gonna keep boys like mine.

in check.

So kudos to you, hashtag girl dad, the real dad. I just thank you. I just don't understand. Why Chicago? Like, it's one thing for Milwaukee to make entire segments out of, did you hear what Colin Cowherd said about the Packers?

Did you hear what this, this, this? We need a segment for today. Find somebody shitting on our team. We'll rally. Chicago is The second city, man.

Chicago is a great. Not just town in this country, in this world. Chicago fucking rules. If I was from Chicago, I would be so proud of it. If I was like anywhere from Schaumburg or Naperville or Park Ridge or Racine, all you would hear me say is, I am from Chicago.

I love Chicago. Chicago, Chicago, Chicago. I love it. And I would be so proud of it. And nobody there does that.

Instead, they're all like, ooh, Brewers fans are picking on us. Ooh, what? You guys don't respect Kayla. I just don't understand. And that's why they need somebody like me.

You need somebody like me. It doesn't have to be me. It could have been me. Could get on the radio to bitch to them. I'll be the Wisconsin guy doing it, but you need somebody.

You need somebody there that's proud of your state. And, you know, I think the thing with Brust and Kaplan and that's kind of cute. And they sent So Kaplan sent them 59, like something, because of 59 points. And then Brust and Kyle sent them like ham sandwiches with string cheese or something, but just three of them. It's all cute.

But if I was Kaplan, You don't even exist to me, even though we're teammates, same company. I'm not mentioning anybody. From Milwaukee. Unless I absolutely have to, because I'm from fucking Chicago. I don't deal with this.

I don't fucking care about you. Oh, you won the NL Central? Whatever. I mean, I would ride the elf leg to the fucking. I don't even know that I would because it's like, that's fuck you.

You're not, you don't even bother me. Get away from me. And Chicago takes the bait every goddamn time. And I do not understand it. Mm-hmm.

And scene. Hey, what's up guys? It's Haley Bailey.

C terms. I I think I th I think Caleb's a guy. I think he's awesome.

So I'm just kind of operating as if he is the guy and he's going to be their franchise quarterback that wins a lot of games for him. 10 or 12 years? Chicago fans, they need to learn how to be a you need to learn how to be a member of high society. All right, you live in a penthouse now, okay? I know you've been living in a cardboard box my entire life.

Trust me, I've never been not on the top floor. I was birthed into the fav era, and then here comes Rogers. And now, Jordan Love. And Jordan Love's not as good as those last two, but like, I've never been in the quarterback wilderness, save for maybe like two months in 2023. It was pretty brutal.

I carry myself a certain way because of that. And Bears fans should too. A Dolphins fan makes fun of your quarterback because he paints his nails? That should be nothing to you. That person is less than you're a Dolphins fan.

You mean less than pond scum to me. My quarterback is Caleb Williams. I'm better than you. Like, that should be the approach. Oh, you make fun of Aaron Rodgers because, like, what was the thing that people used to make fun of Aaron Rodgers for?

I don't know. I don't care. Aaron Rodgers is my quarterback. You're just, you're just, you're a little gnat. I'll flick you away, Falcons fan, wants to make fun of my quarterback.

And they need to get there. They are complaining. They are living in the most luxurious penthouse where your teams are all good-ish. Your teams are all like friends with each other. The vibe in Chicago sports is not new because they're acting like it's the first time it's ever happened, but it is relatively new to this generation of Chicago sports fans.

It's new to them. They need to enjoy the fruits that come with that. Instead, they're doing the old Count of Monte Crisco Jim Cavieso thing. They are still laying on the concrete and complaining about their sleep accommodations when they should be. That's a great reference, by the way.

This is a great movie, probably book, but who reads? They've got to be in their bed. They got to be in their luxurious bed with the grapes and the ladies and the vines and the they you're in luxury now. Stop complaining about the inadequacies of the less than when you are. Are atop not just the sports heap.

But you're a top like Your city's better than a lot of other cities. You have a concrete beach. You have restaurants open past 9:30. Yeah. You have a you've got a p.

Bean. You've got a park with a thousand softball diamonds that no one ever plays on anymore. I saw that tweet. You've got fucking Lola Palooza and whatever. Where's that one?

Lala Palooza. Also, I'm in amidst that great rant, I'm quite confident you called it the Count of Monte Crisco. Yeah, what was that? That might have just been a slip.

Okay. What is it? I thought I had the movie. Cristo. Cristo.

Oh, I'm thinking of the hilarious parody I did in college called The Count of Monte Crisco. Is that real? No.

Okay. No.

Yeah, Chris though. Fr what, fryer oil, Crisco, canola oil? I think that was what was on my point. Did I say Crisco? Tim can dub that in, he's a pro.

That's true.

So just I didn't mean guys, I didn't mean to say fart left. But I did. To be fair, Paul is the only one on this panel, or probably also most of the listenership, that's cultured enough to pick up on that mistake. I probably want to pick up on that mistake. Yeah.

I just when you guys talk, I listen. For what you have to say, Paul listens for mistakes and inadequacies, mispronunciations, especially. Yeah. But see, the difference though is when he knows, like, he doesn't, he didn't know. I thought he might have just slipped and said, but now I was curious if it was like, oh, I just thought it was that, as opposed to.

A slip. Yeah. Either way, it's a good movie. Either way, you stink at talking. Uh pub publicly, at least.

Learn how to be rich. Bears fans. Learn how to be rich. Now, having said all this about what you just were guys were saying about. Monte Crisco and other things.

Caleb Williams. Like people really like people really latched onto Jaden Williams. two things one was the jersey retirement number thing and that became like Social media meme material. Did you mean Jaden Daniels, Paul, or is there a Jaden Williams I'm not familiar with? Did I do it?

Did I just say that? I didn't hear it because I'm listening to the content of which you speak. That was so perfectly planeted. It was almost as if I definitely did it on purpose to see if you're. No, I didn't.

Jaden Daniels. Everyone latched onto his Jersey retirement situation. To the point where his teammates don't help him off off the ground. Apparently, it sure seemed like crazy clip if you haven't seen it. But Caleb Williams.

This is way worse. Then Jaden Daniels. complaining about like or or Commenting about a jersey being retired at his alma mater. He, you. No, you're telling me that.

Okay, wait, let's. I'm sorry, are you. I don't know what. Are you asking us a question? Or.

Caleb Williams. Oh yeah, I remember that. Caleb Williams going down in a heap, yelling, face, towel over the face. Clearly like a season ending situation. Was worse than Jaden Daniels.

And his Jersey retirement situation during I don't know. No, no, no. I can't possibly, I can't believe anyone has the take you guys have on this. Paul, they're both. Jaden Daniels.

Jackson Dart went down. He's like, Can I go back in? They're like, No, you're out for the season. Caleb Williams. He's an idiot.

Don't you're talking about something that's not, this is not even injury-related. Jaden Daniels. Di it did the like one of the top One of the things I said was. There are so many weird things that are going to come of this that we can't even. fathom right now.

And they're gonna happen. We're gonna be like, what the fuck are you doing? And Daniels, I keep wanting to say Williams now. Daniels. Trying to reclaim his old number.

After he left... Is really pathetic. They should have given him that, though. That should have not even. Yes.

You think they should have retired five for him? I think they could have waited a Las Vegas Bull. I think they could have waited more than two years, but eh. Let's play. Oh, there's like 120 kids on these football teams.

They got to wear double numbers. I know that, but. This I'm shocked that you guys think that is more of like I don't even think we're talking about like they're not even I don't even know how you can compare the two things, Caleb. Bigger bitch move.

Well, here's the reason Caleb was a bitch move. That's it's not even close. Caleb was a bitch move, they're both bitch moves. Jaden makes me think less of him. But Caleb's doesn't?

This is what Caleb was doing. This is more of Caleb, I think. Listen, listen to what I'm going to say. Say it. Caleb Williams was hurt.

I don't and I don't know. How he felt, what he felt. But Caleb Williams. Had an opportunity. To go off on a stretcher.

And do the fist pump. And in that moment, that was more important to him than anything else. He wanted that moment. Of course. He didn't want to be hurt to get that moment, but he's thinking, I don't know that I'll ever get this.

If he was on the road, he would have just left the fucking game. Probably skipping away. Interesting take. Thank you. But he was at home, so he soaks up the crowd that adores him.

I mean, Caleb's invincible right now with the Bears. They're criticizing Ben Johnson on the score this morning. I see anti-Ben Johnson clips.

So, yeah, they're all in. They are so because he traded paint on his fingernails for mustache. You know, when he first had that Cubs game, I was like. Why is everyone thinking that it's Caleb Williams? That looks nothing like him.

And then I guess it is. I really, that first game, I'm like. Oh my God, everyone thinks that Caleb Williams, that Cubs game with Pete Crowe and the other guy?

Well, the first thing is you were shocked because a Bears player would never go to a Cubs. I mean, that doesn't happen. And then the two stars are friendly with each other. I can't believe I'm witnessing this. Can I just say, I don't really care what Caleb Williams does.

I don't care. I've never played football. I don't. But when scores of former players and people who cover the league, people who are aware of how those things work, come out and speak on the edit, like I'm going to listen.

So like when former linebackers say bitch move. Like, no, you'd have to. Like, guys refuse the card, Paul. You covered the sport. There are guys who don't want to be taken off on the card.

And I think that's an interesting. Part of the, like, we talk about unwritten rules in baseball a lot. We don't have as many unwritten things in football. This is one of them, I think. This is absolutely.

If there were unwritten football rules, this would be the leading chapter.

So it's not, you can't. These rules get carted off and give the thumbs up and the glorious send-off for a one-week injury. You just are not. Hours to legislate, but I'm going to react and find them interesting the same way I do in baseball.

So I find that part of it interesting, even though I don't really care that he was carted off, but I find it very interesting and additive to the sport that a bunch of football people do. Like, that's juicy. That's interesting.

So, there's two things I want to say, two things I want to say.

So, The first is, and Bart, as you know, I. Don't really check social media or really text messages much Sunday and Monday because I catch up on games when I. Have a chance. That's why you didn't have the text yesterday. That's one of the things I'm actually referencing.

I just saw it. But I guess what I can't get past is this idea that like Okay, we might just see this very differently. That's okay. Never mind. We'll move on.

What the fuck? We'll move on. I'm baffled. What the fuck? You never operated like this.

You might see this different. Paul, this is the long-form discussion of which you've dreamed. It is. These are the situations where I cross my legs and look at the clock because I know you're going to be going for a while. Let's go.

Let's pivot back to Jalen Duran. um where my real heart lies no no no That They're both they are both bitch moves. I think Daniels is way more like. Took advantage of an opportunity to get a pop from the crowd that was undeserved. Let me give you my parallel.

So, I have to say one more thing. Oh, you two. There are Chicago fans that, if you got this far, out of your pure age. The only response Chicago fans have to any of this now is rent-free. It's like they just heard of this phrase rent free We are talking about you.

To help you. Do you understand? We are talking about this will help.

Well we are. We are talking about you because you are not. Ready for prime time. You're not ready to be good. You're not ready to have a good quarterback.

You're not ready. And Some say you can never be ready. And how great would it have been? If when we were just going through Favre and Rogers for the first time, how great would it have been if we had someone from Chicago or Minnesota or Detroit to guide us, to let us know this is how you act when you have a star quarterback? We didn't have that, we had to do that on our own.

Because the Bears' best quarterback was. You know, they've never had a guy for 4,000. The Vikings' best quarterback lost four Super Bowls. The Lions' best quarterback was a guy who. Faked his way on the team for writing some book in the 50s.

Nobody had anything to do. We had no help. We're the oldest child. We're figuring this out by our own. We've had 30 years.

Of great quarterback play, and even really good quarterback play now that you don't think is adequate enough because it's not great. We know how to get you. We know how to guide you. Let us teach you. All we're trying to do is help you.

I'm not being a dick either. I know you're not. I am not. Doing this to Chicago. Because I'm taking advantage or get an opportunity to shit on them.

I am legitimately trying to help them because it bugs the shit out of me to see a guy like Danny Parkins, who I think the world of as a talent and a person, go on first things first and completely unravel because he can't for a second say something bad about his favorite team because he's put in a position where he's already outnumbered. And that's so Chicago feels like us because they're walking into this New York mentality, this LA mentality. They're going to let guys like Craig Carton dictate things, they're going to let guys like. I don't know who else, but these Kyle, whatever. It's just, it's all very pathetic.

Paul, sorry. No, so I'll finish the thought, I guess, and just say. As I'm catching up. I'm also catching up on pods. You might have talked about this.

I then saw it this morning as someone was posting about it on Sunday, but it was right before Trace Mack kicks the game-winning kick. It was the LaFleur-like thing with the hand over the head. That sucks. Don't know if you've talked about that. The biggest reach of all reaches I've ever heard from anybody, but continue.

What? No way. That's bullshit. You can't do that. Coach can't rub his face in the middle of a three-hour game.

You guys are fucking nuts. Not before the kicker makes his game-winning kick. What is Trey Smack looking over? Oh, what is my coach? Does my coach believe in me?

It was a 22-yarder. Just put it through. Coach wants to go home. Jesus. Maybe he's looking at the sideline to a special teams coach or looking over for some other reason, and then he sees Matt LaFleur with his hand in his fucking face.

That's bullshit. Granted. I don't want him as my kicker. Go ahead, Paul.

Sorry. But that well now we get it.

Okay. That's push through. That's my second shocking thing of the day where I can't believe that's anyone's reaction. Like, no big deal at all. Who cares?

I need a different case. I'm with you. I know you are on this one. Less on the Caleb one. My parallel to that is.

As Bart, Wisconsin sports fans/slash media personality podcasting again from his basement talked about with Matt LaFleur and his temperament and everything else like that. It's like, can you win? If the leader of your organization, your head coach, presumably, has the temperament that Matt LaFleur has, very emotional, very reactionary, and never seems to do the right thing on the first time. It takes a second or a third try. And again, I harken it back to even just like right before the kick was like rubbing the forehead.

Like, yeah, that's instilling confidence. I'm not saying it affects the kick necessarily, but it's a bigger picture of how you're running your very competitive, very pressure-inducing company, team, franchise, however you want to think of it. That can't, your leader can't do that. Similarly, if there is a co-leader or arguably on some teams leader, it's the quarterback. Can your quarterback be the type of reactionary individual who does that moment As they have a Grade one.

Missing a game or two at most hamstring injury. Can that team with that leader/slash co-leader? Of your franchise have that mentality. That would be the question I would be having if I was having an honest discussion as a Chicago sports fan. Can you, is it, regardless of the X's and O's of what Matt LaFleur is or isn't as a head coach, can he be a leader of a franchise that wins it all with his temperament?

I bet that question doesn't even come up in Chicago. They're so focused on what Craig fucking Carton is saying. But I'm saying that's the only thing that I'm thinking. If you don't know, he called him a bitch. Are you saying that they should be asking this about Caleb Williams?

Yeah, they should be talking about that. That's the point. That's what they should be talking about. Yes. Caleb stole this, he's stolen Valard a moment of injury.

He did. No, he did. He did. And so that's where that's grand to fit, like, that's where. If I was doing a critical analysis of my team and if my team was the Bears, I would say, like.

Like the the first and only thought that came to my mind when the diagnosis came out was like Boy, does that make him look bad? Who cares what the fans think? Who cares what the media thinks? Do his teammates look at that and be like, what the fuck was that? I would.

Like, if I was his teammate, similarly, if I went back and watched the game tape and I saw my head coach, Matt LaFleur, doing like the, oh God, what are we? I would be like, I don't think this is our guy.

Now what if Caleb got at the podium and that's my parallel What if Caleb got at the podium and was like... I think I'm fine. I might miss a little time, but in that moment, I overreacted. I was trying to get the crowd back into it. I heard everybody quiet.

I was just trying to do something for the crowd, motivate the team to go win this game. We'll deal with everything else later. In that moment, I thought. The best thing for me as a teammate was to get everybody riled up and think we can still win this game. We'll worry about the rest later.

So then he was thinking that he was just thinking. Oh, I can get cheap pop from the crowd.

So we saw that Jaden Daniels. gets ignored by his offensive line and by his teammates as he Crumples down onto the field. The next time that Caleb Williams gets hurt, whether it's severe or one or two weeks, are his teammates going to think, like, here we go again, like, here's the guy, he's going to make a big fucking ordeal. And then they're going to think that, but it's not. Right?

Because maybe now this next injury is serious. You know, is he not the boy who cried injury? The boy who cried, like, this is your wolf. And now you've said, okay, well, like, I'm going to make a huge ordeal out of. And by the way, would the Bears have had a better chance to rally if they didn't think, oh, fuck, our season is over?

in the game against Minnesota. I think you completely deflated the crowd. I know, like the fist pump or whatever else, but like, that's one of those, like, when Jackson Dart gets hurt. You're a Giants fan, you're a Giants player, you know that game is over. Like that one's done.

Maybe he gets back for next week or the week after, but that game is over, even though it's got a trade for somebody.

Well, they clearly do. But that's where I just wonder: what is the fallout in the locker room for the Bears? Again, who really cares what fans or media or Craig Carton or whoever else says? Can you be a Bears player? Similarly, can you be a Packers player and be like, I don't know if our head coach has the temperament for this.

Can you be like, you know, who doesn't have the temperament? Does our quarterback, if you're a Bears fan, have the temperament for this? I can't imagine that was like a respect-gaining moment. For a Bears player. I could be wrong, but it's sure, like, I've been around professional foot football players.

Like that's not an endearing. quality to be soft as shit in a moment like that. Um I had something to stick a flag in this, and I have forgotten it. We should talk. A Packers topic, probably.

All right, we'll do that first. Here's a 30-second message from myself. Thanks, guys. Bart, thank you. This is huh? Back to other Bart in the studio. Why are you laughing?

That was good. I don't know. We are on, by the way, episode 748. As we get closer to 777. Thanks to our friends at Potawatomi.

Um I am going to, I have to. I have to, have to, have to. Make a bet on the bucks over. I have to, have to, have to. Yeah, you should.

I I d Is it 24 and a half? I think it was 26. Still. I'm comfortable going. to $200.

I gotta do five though. If I'm gonna do it, it's gotta be worth it. Mm-hmm. Especially for a future. I don't just like have that's the thing.

I like I don't just have 500 bucks. Are you kidding? You just got paid by YouTube. I got paid by Facebook. Facebook, I did it again.

Uh-huh. If you're like, how can you help the show when I meme when I shit meme on Facebook? Like and post and shit. No, I at 500. 500.

If I do 200 and then bring it up throughout the year on the show, it's not that interesting. If I do 500. Then it's interesting, and I could probably write it off as the show thing. And then I could write off the gas it takes me to get to Poto. There you go.

Okay, I'm gonna do so we're gonna do 500 on bucks over. Epado.

Now, I did hear Brandon Nrami this morning. Brandon? I have to talk to him about this. He says six seed for the Bucs. I'm like, okay.

All right. I mean, if they win game 27, we're throwing a party. Yeah. Parade. 40 fucking seven games.

I like his thinking. It's, you know, it's a team, low expectations, whatever, but. Um, heroes probably getting traded at the deadline and So I still like the over. And I'm going to go do that at Pato. The Green Bay Packers won a football game.

against the only team they probably would have beat that Sunday. That was the Jets, Paul. Aaron Glenn is a gift. Uh that's not my real topic. If you like YouTube, you'll love YouTube Premium.

So I know Bart, you love talking about offensive line, but we have to.

So The Packers' offensive line with Zach Tom slash Baco Bawale was bad. With it. It is I don't care that it's coming up to week three only. If this is your offensive line. We're going to put a little asterisk here.

Cannot say Matt LaFleur's name.

Okay. It's completely about the you cannot win. A meaningful you can't how about this you cannot win the NFC With this offensive line, now that Zach Bakabawali is out for this, you can't like it's too. Not good. It's too now, even just with one injury depleted.

The offensive line is too bad to meet to win a meaningfully good season. Or. Uh probably. Mm-hmm. And this is where.

I think this was like it. Like, I think, like, yay, Micah Parsons comes back, and Tucker Kraft, like, everyone else can play well and stay healthy. They went from like, I think it's really. Bad, bad for the offensive line.

So I don't know. If Brian Gudekinst is good or not. He set them up offensively on the line to be in a really, really bad spot. And I pivot to him because. The the weirdest thing Of all the shitting I do about LaFleur.

Is well, why aren't you talking about Goody? And then I'm like focused on the floor. Like, I'm trying to get this asshole out of my fucking sidelines, okay? Mm-hmm. So I'm hyper-focused.

And enough people are shitting on Goody. I don't need to pick every apple here, but anytime I shit on, so I'm, I think, like, at least from what people tell me online. I get lumped in with these goody lovers, which I don't think exist. But I get I could Framed as like, I will stand for Goody and I will never speak ill of Brian Goudekinst. And I will never I have been focused on the floor.

Goudekinst. I didn't like them drafting Jordan Love when they did. Really? Because you were on the doorstep of a Super Bowl. You gotta you gotta get a guy to help you win a fucking Super Bowl.

If you're going to draft Jordan Love, you got to get a Super Bowl out of love.

So I still, I mean, I don't actually have to get two as I remember the. Yeah, you gotta get one with Rogers and one with love or two with love Two with love to make up for the one you missed with Rogers by drafting love. I remember was the take. Yes. Not to be Paul, but that is what you said at the time.

Yes. And I have no reason to change. That or not saying like I didn't or retcon that. I Fine with that take. Um I like Jordan Love a lot.

I'm glad we have him. I do think he is. Capable of being a top quarterback in this league. I said at the beginning of the year: if I'm starting a season, all things considered. I'll take Josh Allen and I'll take love.

I'm talking about taking love on a team that has an offensive line. Yeah. I'm saying like if you give me a team, all we need is a quarterback, give me love. If you give me if you if you have a team that You're going to get blitzed 75% of the time. I don't want anybody.

Because my guy's not going to do shit.

So, what's the fucking point?

So, Goudekins, and we. Talked about this on the postgame again. And so I wondered. Because the thing that People will stop short about saying Goudekins is a bad GM. He's disqualified from being bad because he made a great move.

Micah Parsons. The fact that he was able to get Micah Parsons is such a great move. That you do have to consider pretty heavily when you're critiquing Goudekins. But did Goudekins make that move for the benefit of the team, or did he make that move because he needed to save his job? And when you get guys that feel nervous about their job, they're going to make different moves than if they feel like they're going to be here for five years.

How are you Roseman's trading picks for two, three years in advance because he's going to be there? Paul, if we're managing fantasy football teams and we know that we're giving up our team next year. Yeah. We're going to manage it completely differently because we don't give a fuck about the future.

So Goody's getting rid of these other. Picks because he just wants Parsons, he just wants to stay, and then he'll deal with the rest later. While he's been building this team. It seems like he has taken an effort. To Build a good team.

He's been wrong on some guys, but there are. There's a sign on each side of the ball, like the cornerback room is so bad. And Keyshawn Nixon is so bad. It doesn't make sense to me how that can be your number one cornerback. And then the offensive line.

He doesn't put any thought or consideration to. I don't watch the offensive line. I don't care about the offensive line like when it's reported to me. I don't care who's warming up. I don't care what it looks like at Family Night.

But if I was ever a GM of a team, That would be the first, second, and third thing that I fucking care about: we need a good fucking offensive line. I wouldn't be like obnoxious about it, but That would be my thing. Like, who is our fucking offensive line? We got to protect our quarterback, or why have a quarterback?

So Goody has two glaring weaknesses. The offensive line being a huge one. And this offensive line that we're going to continue to trot out. I don't Think we're winning more than 10 games with this offensive line, nine or 10 is down to seven or eight. Uh it's not good.

So to your question. And then Mm-hmm, to any question that would come. After that, I now send it over to Grant on the right side of the screen. Paul, what was the question again? What went from a battle?

What went from a bad offensive line is now a you cannot win a meaningful You cannot make a meaningful run. in the NFC playoffs with the loss of Zach Wright tackle. Mm-hmm. Or mm-mm. Mm-hmm.

Um now Maybe Jordan Morgan locks in and starts playing awesome and like there are some young guys who are learning the positions or learning the The sport for the first time, you know, at the NFL level.

So, check back in in a month or two. I suppose things could change. It's not like who's our veteran on this line because then the guy that we paid a bunch of money to is the first one. Yeah, Aaron Banks is the answer. John Ryan, probably.

I guess I forget Aaron Banks and fuck Aaron Banks. I forget he's on the team. The head coach probably does too. Um The the the problem or the issue, Paul, is At a position group that is five five guys. Right, right tackle, left tackle, guard, guard, center.

One injury to that line. Should not be season ending. is it shouldn't but it shouldn't be yeah and the the fact that That this might be, I think, is a pretty large indictment on the general manager. And also, and I'm going to bring this up on my show tonight, and people probably won't like it. I don't know that Zach Tom is really all that.

Awesome. He's good. He's their best offensive lineman. Yeah, but it's not like they got a bunch of other good offensive lineman. I'd argue he's their only good offensive lineman, which makes him the best.

Even though he's been healthy, he's gotten to the playoffs against the Eagles and dumped his pants. Like, I. He works at right tackle. I don't think he was drafted with right tackle in mind. He's smaller, he's thinner.

So maybe Jordan Morgan, you know, Sean Ryan, Jagger Burton, who they just drafted, maybe those guys figured out and that. This line rounds into form a little bit. There's a lot of season, and that could happen. But it feels bad, and it feels like a huge indictment on the general manager that, well, there's the season because you lost your one. Player on the O-line, who, by the way, missed all of last year.

And it isn't like it's not like Like Hall of Fame player like David Baktiari over there. Exact time.

Okay. Fine player. Nice player. Especially when you have a quarterback who Jordan Love, for all the things I think he is, he is not very fast. Though right.

Like he is not. He's not going to evade guys the way Mahomes is. He's weirdly, he manages pressure in the pocket really well. It's weird. He's very good at avoiding sacks, but he's horrible at running, which are two traits you almost never see in the same player.

It's especially, I'll take it another step, not just because of the quarterback part. The offensive line was an issue last year, and everyone knew it. And it was like item one or two going into this offseason that needed to be fixed along with cornerback. And you're porked in week two. It's not like this issue snuck up on them.

you know i am going to break i'm mentioning lafleur here i did good for a few minutes but He Is so committed. To the fucking run and establishing the run. That Even at the end of this game against the Jets. He's taking huge momentum plays and then like. Running the football.

Right into the shittiest offensive line we've had. In Goody's tenure. What are you doing? Yeah. Well the offense back wasn't playing well.

Oh.

the quarterback wasn't playing well.

So I do think Jordan Love needs to be better in those kinds of games. I mean, I thought he was great in week one. I thought he was very poor in week two. Like, it's fine. I think he's good, but he was not having a.

Confidence-inducing game. Like, I understand why Matt LaFleur maybe wanted to be careful with him, especially once they were already in field goal range. Yeah. But he did win. I'm a big believer in QB wins.

QB wins. And sometimes you got to say, well, I know he hasn't been great, but he's still our guy, and I trust him. And we're going to ride or die with a throw that he is going to make or not.

So I understand that too. But like, he he didn't play well on Sunday. The first touchdown they scored was because they found a little rhythm in the running game. And I think ultimately they got that game-winning field goal because of running the ball and. Little dump-offs.

So, like, that's that's when they found success on Sunday. That's what they were doing. I think Jordan Love is really good. At getting the ball to the receiver. If he can.

accomplish getting to that point. Yeah. I follow you. He needs the time. He needs the time.

He can't. Jordan Love needs a good offensive line.

Okay, sure.

Some quarterbacks will do better. With a worse offensive line. I think Jordan Luff needs a good offensive line. I think part of it is like too, like when you inserted Malik Willis into the quarterback position for the Packers last year, you're like, okay, it's a different offense now. You can do things differently and maybe it Arguably, you can be a lesser player.

Bless her quarterback, but operate better under The construction of the the The best that Jordan Love can be, and even the best that Matt LaFleur can be. are not with each other. I think LaFleur liked having Willis there because I think he wants his quarterback to run more. Yeah, LeFleur wants to keep the ball. And Not run up the score.

He does not want to run up the score. He doesn't want to run up the score. He wants to beat you. He wants to beat you 20 to 10 and have 37 minutes of possession a game. Yeah, I think that's, I think that seems.

I think he would I think Jordan Love is best utilized. If it's like. We need to score. And you have a minute 45 and two timeouts. Go.

Yeah. Take us down the field as quick as you can. Yeah, that's probably true.

So I think they don't complement each other.

So I don't wanna downplay what we just said. The three of us agree. That Pathetically, this is A season ending. For the Packers, it's a season-ending right-tackle injury. They That's it.

Like the game's gone. They are so thin and poor at the offensive line That losing your above average but not superstar right tackled. That's it. That's the that's the season. Mm-hmm.

That feels poor, but yes, that's it. Oh, you think the season's over now? That's what I was saying. I was like, this is something like the season being over from the standpoint of. You can't win three, four consecutive games.

The season was over, if that's the case.

Well, to win three or four. Sam Matt LaFleur. I say you can't say the name. In the context of the answer, because I wanted to be specifically about how the offensive line was built.

Okay, last question, real quick. Let's put a timestamp like so end of week two. This could probably evolve several times throughout the year. The Packers' best running back. Going into week 3.

Is It's Josh Jacobs, the whole Taleb. No, no, no, no, no, right. Of those events. I remember I said I'm sticking by. Josh Jacobs is going to lead this team in rushing.

Yes, agreed. And it's clear now why they're standing by him and why they paid off the girlfriend to cover the tape. I just made that up, but. Did they? They need him.

So he's going to come back. The best running back on this team is Chris Brooks.

Okay. I would say, of those not on the commissioner's exempt list, who is the best running back?

Well, it's not Caleb Johnson.

Well, it's put it this way: I know that Marshawn Lloyd is the worst. You can argue about who is first and who is second. Because Marshawn Lloyd, which is kind of funny, by the way, and I brought this up on my show here and there. Where it's like, guys. Anyway.

Everyone always talked about Marshawn Lloyd. I mean, Jesus Christ, if he can just be healthy, you see what he can offer this team. And I always would bring up like, well, But just what if, maybe, just maybe? He's just like. a fine player.

Who's just been hurt? And now you see that he runs right in the ass of his O-line every other play. Like, you were hoping Lloyd was going to give you what you already had in Emmanuel Wilson and you let him go. Yeah. That's on Goody.

Yeah, it is. You were, you, you're like, I want this guy that I've already drafted and we've been waiting for two years. Just fucking let him go. Cheaper. You gotta be able in life to let.

Things Goal. You've got to be able to do that. You have to in life. Be able to let things go. Yeah.

You can't let minor transgressions consume your entire career. You have to be the bigger man. And move on with your life. Wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah. Good message.

Funny messenger. Marshawn Lloyd stinks. Right now, I told you he's stunk. I've never once heard you say that. Yes, he has.

I said Marshawn Lloyd looks like he's AJ Dillon. He's got no neck. The difference in neck between Chris Brooks Jr. and Marshawn Lloyd is. Otherworldly, Chris Brooks Jr.

looks like another species of human standing next to Marshawn. Can we do another quick topic? Marshawn Lloyd is not even a player, he's an idea. Last topic. Because this so Was it Noah Eagle who called the Australia game, right?

I think so.

So he of course stuck very firmly to the calling it Melbourne. Mm-hmm. And then last night, Joe Buck said, in Melbourne. Oh, I have a take on it.

So, as an American broadcaster who calls the National Football League, who's from the United States, should refer to Mel should refer to the place in Australia. As Melbourne, like Joe Buck did. I don't like to go. Grant, you said mm-hmm. Yes?

You said mm-hmm. I I also say mm-hmm. Yeah, I think again, announcers are always going to say they don't want to draw attention to themselves, they just want to call the action. I think what Eagle did is totally fine. If At the top of the broadcast, he says.

I'm going to call it Melbourne as this is what the locals call it. Um I'm gonna call it Melbourne. And then like Two or three more times during the game because nobody has ever in America heard it called Melbourne. Nobody. Yeah.

Nobody. Even if you went, like, we say, no, it's actually both alona, you know? Yeah, right. Nobody says it's actually Melbourne. Nobody fucking says that.

Right.

Okay, so you have to do that a couple of times. And who's the other one that does it? Who's the other one that does it so much? with like the local pronunciations. Is it Tarico?

I'm not sure. I don't know. There's somebody else that does it so much. And it's like they're taking this moment. All right, I'm going to.

I'm going to convince America it's Melbourne. But we are Americans, and if you don't tell us why you're doing something, we're not going to like it. And repeat it multiple times throughout the viewing. You have to give us a heads up that you're calling it Melbourne. But otherwise, because I mean, Noah Eagle in that instance, he's doing it tongue-in-cheek.

He's doing it to get a reaction. He's in on the bit. I don't think he is. No, I think he was being like knowing. He was like, you know, Melbourne.

You know, like those Eagles are pretty stand-up guys. They're not looking to rebel routes. Come on. This is a much lesser example. But, Bart, we even talked about this when you would take a call from Toronto.

And you're like.

Well, they say Toronto, so I'm not going to pronounce that second T. Yeah, I call it Toronto. That's the name of the city. But then it should also be Melbourne. Yeah, I agreed with that.

So you're not with, so but you said no eagle can say Melbourne as long as he likes it. He has to preface. that he's changing the way we're used to it. He has to say, We've called it Melbourne. It's actually Melbourne.

On this broadcast, I'm going to go with Melbourne.

Sorry if you don't like it. That's my decision. But you can't say in an American accent Melbourne. You have to have the Australian accent because then you lose the R on the Melbourne. There's a lot of words we've stolen from other languages.

I get what you're saying. Falcony? Balcony. A balcony. Foyer, foyer?

Foyer. Grant is it the foyer or foyer? I don't even know what that is. The entryway is confined to one bedroom. Foyer.

All right. I'd still prefer I and Eagle to Spiro Deeds, who would probably say, Melbourne! Oh, he's the one. Is he really? Because he would say Yannis Yannis.

Yeah, seriously. Really? I don't care about. We've talked about this. I think, I think.

Stressing yourself out about broadcasters is a childish thing. I fucking hate listening to a game called by Spiro Deeds. I think he's the worst. I think it's like a, I think it's similar to a referee, an official, an umpire. The less that we like notice that you're there in a negative way, like you don't know the good umpires' names.

You're not bothered by Like, you're bothered by a bad announcer. If an announcer is good, it's just nice window dressing. It's there. You're kind of getting a nugget here, a nugget there. But if it's just like if it's a bad umpire or a bad broadcaster, where you take you out of the moment, takes you out of the game.

Spiro Deeds is one of those for sure. Yannis. Yannis de Kumpo. I'm from Greece or some shit. Fuck you.

Like, Yannis doesn't even, Yannis and his family don't pronounce it that way. What gives you the right to be like, well, That's how we would say it there, like fuck you. Yeah, fuck foreigners. Good. Segment of the Zabe cast.

Spiro Deeds is from New Jersey. What the fuck? I thought he was like European or something. Yeah, Paul Gonzabe's broadcast. You guys could do seven hours on broadcast.

Oh my God. Before you were done, that would just be on the CBS number one booth alone. Yeah. Uh yeah, okay, I'm I'm in. Zabe, I know you're listening.

Live. Zabe, I need you on this fucking show. I'm going to start my own pod just so I can get him on. I'm going to email him again. That'll work.

Tell him that I'll respond with Zabe. Tell him that I'll join so we can just talk announcers. That'd be fun. I just like the gif I DM'd him when he took the fan job. I was like, what the fuck, dude?

He's like, oh, wow, I was like, ah, ah, ah. We would be friends in another life. Probably not. All right. Grant, Paul, thank you so much.
