Why don't more infant formula companies use organic, grass-fed whole milk instead of skim? Why don't more infant formula companies use the latest breast milk science? Why don't more infant formula companies run their own clinical trials? Why don't more infant formula companies use more of the proteins found in breast milk? Why don't more infant formula companies have their own factories instead of outsourcing their manufacturing?
We wondered the same thing. So we made Byheart, an infant formula company on a mission to get a lot closer to the most super, super food on the planet, breast milk. Our patented protein blend has more of the important and most abundant proteins actually found in breast milk. We're the first and only U.S.-made formula to use organic, grass-fed whole milk, not skim. We even conducted the largest clinical trial by a new infant formula company in a quarter century, with clinically proven benefits like easier digestion, less spit-up, and softer poops versus a leading infant formula. And we make our own formula in the U.S.A. and our very own factories in Iowa, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Byheart, a better formula for formula.
Learn more at byheart.com. After the game, Pat Narduzzi inartfully blamed the caliber of player that he has. Now, I'm sure he didn't mean to say, man, we've got some really bad players. And he didn't say that. But what he said after the game was that, you know, we had some really good players last year. They said, I think, five or six of the NFL.
And we just haven't replaced them like we thought we did. And players in his own locker room are like, excuse you? Now, Narduzzi did go on to say that they didn't coach very well, which is always what coaches say when their teams get beat.
But you said the quiet part out loud. And it's a bad look. And who knows if Pitt's players will try to prove it. Prove Pat Narduzzi wrong by careering it against Florida State. But here's what we do know about Pitt.
They have been the thorn before. Florida State's got to go there and then they close out their conference season against Miami. And right now, Florida State is it. There's no other hope for the college football playoff for the Atlantic Coast Conference. Brett Friedlander, ACC columnist Saturday Road joins us. Would you agree with that statement, Brett, that it is Florida State or nothing?
Absolutely. And even then, when the first playoff rankings come out tomorrow, don't be shocked if Florida State is in the number five position and not number four. So, they definitely have to win out. But if they do win out, I think they'll be in. But yeah, Louisville with one loss ain't getting in. Who was that loss to, by the way? Pitt.
They're the thumbtack. I am not part of me hopes that Florida State will be fifth in the rankings or worse, because I make fun of the rankings. I make fun of the reaction to the rankings. They are fake. They're clickbait. It's all they are. And the truth is, is that they will rerank them every week. I do believe one thing that the committee says, that they do start over each week. So, because you have to. Otherwise, what would you be doing in that hotel room for two days? You know, the college football playoff poll each week is the football version of Joe Leonardi's bracketology.
That and six bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Yeah. I mean, it's basically just something for you and everybody else on sports talk radio to talk about, because they change every week. They're never wrong. And, you know, the thing about it is that Florida State is number five. And personally, I think that they are going to be. It really doesn't matter, because Ohio State and Michigan play each other, and one of those teams are going to drop out. So, if you win out, you're going to be in the top four. But it is kind of fun to talk about. And, you know, I mean, if you want to further the everybody hates the ACC narrative, I mean, it's going to be fodder for that.
By the way, on Halloween, they will release their first rankings and Boo Corrigan will be the prize. You can't the jokes right themselves. Brett Friedlander. All right, let's get to I use this as a comparison point. The Jetson Giants played a football game yesterday and they combined for four hundred and forty five yards of total offense.
And by the way, that also included overtime. That is about 200 yards less than Georgia Tech put on North Carolina. How do we what what's going on? The only thing that I can even begin to explain that is that UNC's defense has reverted to the norm.
You know, everything ends up going back to the norm and water finds its level. Right. And and what we saw earlier in the season, either. Well, first of all, South Carolina's offense turns out that they weren't very good. Their offensive line is a mash unit. You know, those nine sacks were an aberration and not the and not something that they've been able to keep up. Miami just shut it down in the second half.
They didn't make any adjustments. And I mean, and then this is who they are. Absolutely. I can. That's the only explanation that I can I can come up with.
You know, the poison cheese thing for Virginia. OK. That I mean, that made sense. But two weeks in a row, I just don't buy it. I see the point. She doesn't make sense for me either. Yeah. Yeah. It doesn't either.
But at least it's an explanation. You had a 10 point lead in that game. Ten point lead on a team that was offensively. They weren't offensively inept. Right. And they tried to give the game away by fumbling out of the end zone.
And it was crazy. That's not the game you lose. I kind of understand Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has proved to be competent and maybe better than competent.
We've seen it all year long. We thought when they was at the Georgia Tech Louisville game at the beginning of the year, where Georgia Tech scored like a thousand points in the second quarter and we went, wait a second, maybe these guys are good. Now Louisville ended up coming back to win the game. But we've seen throughout the year where Georgia Tech clearly has something going.
So Carolina losing their first game there. That wouldn't have been as surprising. But when you have an 11 point lead entering the fourth quarter and you have a Heisman Trophy candidate, although I have been anymore. Well, I don't think he was the Heisman Trophy candidate after the first several weeks when his numbers weren't great. Like at some point the numbers have to compare to the other guys who are going to be fighting for the Heisman unless we're simply giving it to the best player on the best team. And we knew that wasn't going to be North Carolina. Well, he was getting there because when Tez Walker came back, he had those couple of games. And if you're undefeated and you're in the playoff competition, then let's talk. But at this point, no.
And that's the biggest tragedy of this whole thing, is that Mac Brown now has had two elite NFL, you could call them generational quarterbacks back to back, and has wasted them. Judy was boring. See website for details. Year two. In year two, right? The year one year was great. Oh man, next year's gonna be amazing. First pick in the draft, and Sam Howell goes what, fifth round?
Whatever. I like Sam Howell. I don't think he's a starter in the NFL, but I think he can have a nice long career as a backup. I think Drake May is the absolute truth when it comes to being an NFL quarterback. And I specifically asked Mac Brown and others the question, what is the responsibility when you have a Drake May? And you know that this is the year.
What is the responsibility? And they said all the right things. They're just not necessarily backing it up.
And that's, it is unfortunate. Brett Friedlander, ACC columnist, SaturdayRoad.com, joining us here. There is a phrase in all sports, don't let, you know, one team beat you two times, right? So the Notre Dame loss for Duke has carried over and now has cost Duke two more. And this is, I know they won, they beat NC State after the Notre Dame game. But it's clear that Riley Leonard is not healthy and they insist on playing him. He got, he aggravated it against Florida State. He's immobile.
Wouldn't they be better off? I understand they're probably not winning, but wouldn't they be better off with Henry Bielen? You know, it's not even just Riley Leonard. I mean, this past week against Louisville, they were without Graham Barton, who's an NFL draft choice offensive tackle. And Jacob Monk got hurt during the game. So really, their offense is just totally decimated. You know, even with a 60% Riley Leonard, they were still ahead of Florida State after three quarters.
And that didn't just go into the toilet until he went back out. So I can see why they would keep him out there, even though he's in a diminished capacity. But you're right. I mean, think about this. If they can stop Sam Hartman from gaining 17 yards on fourth and 16, Riley Leonard doesn't get hurt. They win that game. And who knows, maybe they're undefeated and they're talking about being in the playoff. Since Riley Leonard went out in Florida State, they've been outscored 44 to nothing? Yeah, they never they never threatened at all against Louisville.
And I know it sounds weird and it's an easy game to play with the they would have because you don't really know. But they looked every bit as good as Florida State. If Leonard, if yes, if and everything would play out differently if they stop Sam Hartman on fourth and 16.
And Leonard doesn't have to try to make a play and get injured at the end of the game. And then they do what they were going to do anyway to NC State. Did they beat Florida State?
I mean, they almost did with a hampered Riley Leonard. And if he's healthy, they're better than Louisville. And they I mean, look, the rest of the schedule is hard anyway. They still have to go to Chapel Hill. But yeah, we'd be probably be talking about a top 10 Duke team.
They don't even care that they're not in the rankings anymore. Defense is great. By the way, they didn't have Graham Barton against Notre Dame either. And they still should have won that game. So, Adam, how how incredibly fortunate you talk about things that happen.
They're out of your control. How fortunate has Louisville been? They get a schedule where they don't have to play Florida State, North Carolina or Clemson. The toughest teams that they have on their schedule. Duke, they play with basically no offensive line and a diminished Riley Leonard. All they have to do basically now is beat Miami and they're playing for the ACC Championship. What about Virginia Tech? They're tied in the loss column, Brett.
Yeah? Who would have thought at the beginning of the season the most impactful transfer in the ACC would be Kyron Drones? I never would have thought that because I don't know who he is, Brett. He's the Virginia Tech quarterback, my friend.
I'm glad I live here. Brett Friedlander, before I before I let you go, is Clemson going to finish under.500? There's a very good possibility that's going to happen because they play Notre Dame. They play South Carolina, which is not that great, but it's a rivalry game.
And who knows? It's at South Carolina. It's in Columbia and North Carolina. So all they had to do is lose those three. And George Tech. But here's the other thing, too.
They've got guys who are now in their fifth and sixth year who came back specifically to win a championship and to get to the playoff. At this point, what is to stop them from saying, hey, I'm not going to endanger my draft position any further. I'm shutting it down. And and the other thing, too, is I keep an eye on Dabo because the things he's been saying and his reluctance to accept the transfer portal, NIL, all these things.
Who's to say he just says, you know what, I'm done with this and walks away. It's I'm telling you, that's a situation to keep an eye on, because right now that that's a that's a program that really seems to be unraveling, doesn't it? It's certainly a team that has been unraveling. And I hate to say that, I mean, I didn't see this. I didn't see potentially five and seven, but I never bought in to their to their offense.
No playmakers on the wide out an offensive line. That's OK, but not great. A quarterback that I didn't believe in. I understand that other people did and people who follow recruiting and and what K Club Nick really was when he was coming out of high school that they like. No, he's much better than that. All right. I just hadn't seen it. I hadn't seen anything from K Club Nick that led me to believe that he was going to be able to elevate a mediocre set of offensive tools.
And especially since the one great game he had was against the worst defense in the country last year. Well, that is true. You, sir, are a gentleman. I appreciate your time, Brett.
