Greetings, friends and new listeners. Welcome to the Archie Hardy Ministries program.

I'm Sharon Ottz thanking you for joining us today because we know faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Today's teaching by my father, Brother Hardy, is exciting and informative so make sure you get each episode of this outstanding exposition on the gifts of the Spirit. Okay, now God not only uses the tongues for a sign of the unbeliever, not only does he use it to speak to the church, but tongues is the most beneficial gift to the saint the saint can have because it builds him up and he's talking to God and he's worshiping God and praising God in a supernatural language. How many say amen?

Huh? By the gift of tongues a man is able to build himself up. 1 Corinthians 14 for he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifies himself and that's not bad is it? But that was the danger in the Corinthian church. They were selfish and they didn't care about the rest of the church so they came in and the whole church was speaking in tongues the whole service and that's all they did and everybody went away feeling great because they got edified. But Paul said what about the rest of the church and what about the sinner and unlearned person that comes in and all you do is speak in tongues and do it the whole service and don't do nothing else said you're gonna say you're crazy.

They might come a second time to see if you're really crazy but they won't come no more after that. And our on our motive and our goal should be the edify the church and reveal Jesus to the lost and get them saved and if I can get edified and doing it amen and if I don't if I could struggle I'm in the battle preaching or teaching so be it as long as the church gets edified and as long as somebody gets saved. How many say amen? Okay Paul said if I speak in tongues I edify myself by the gift of tongues I'm able to speak directly to God. 1st Corinthians 14 to 14 to 15 said for he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God.

That's that's why it's so beneficial. How many say amen? Huh? For no man understands him how be it in the spirit he speaks mystery and it don't even help you naturally. For if I pray in an unknown tongue my what praise? My spirit praise my gift spirit praise. How many say amen but my understanding is what unfruitful. Paul said what is it then I will pray with the spirit I will pray with the understanding also I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the understanding also. Said good let your spirit speak in tongues but then let him go ahead and speak in your own language so you can get blessed too.

Natural man. How many say amen? It also enables him to worship and sing and bless God through it. It's man speaking to God not God speaking to man. That's why he can get out of order because tongues can be used without the direct anointing and inspiration of God.

This is the only gift that can so be used without the drift anointing and gift of God. It's your spirit saying amen. It's your spirit singing. It's your spirit praising God. It's your spirit talking to God.

How many say amen? And if it was the direct work of the Holy Ghost all the time why would he rebuke the whole church speaking it once in tongues for the Holy Ghost would never do that. All tongues that are spoken out not in the worship part the worship part speak in tongues do whatever you want but when the preaching part comes and the teaching part comes don't you speak in tongues unless you interpret it. So the gift of tongues God uses it when the Holy Ghost uses it he anoints it and tells your spirit what to say. As a sign he might use your gift of tongues to speak to someone in that language that knows it in the congregation or overseas.

That's why it's a great gift for overseas. He allows you to speak in the language of the people and they know you don't know it. Just like they did on the day of Pentecost and all these men are they not Galileans? Don't they speak the Galilean dialect?

How do we hear them in our own language? That's the sign part. How many say amen? The part that to the church then he tells he inspires the spirit gives the word to the spirit to speak and then he interprets it. The Holy Ghost knows when there's somebody here. And the onus is on the speaker in tongues to give the interpretation if nobody else does or shut up. And he has commanded that him to speak in the tongue pray that he may interpret because I told you they work together.

Gift and we're going to define the gift. Interpretation of tongues is not interpretation of the scriptures. How many understood me? Interpretation of tongues is not interpretation of the scriptures. It has nothing to do with interpreting the scriptures. It's divine utterance given inspirationally at that time. How many say amen?

It's interpretation of tongues. When you get the gift of interpretation you get an interpretation of languages not scriptures. How many say amen?

How many hears me? Interpretation of languages would come under the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. You get revelation knowledge.

How many say amen? First Corinthians or Ephesians the first chapter pray that God give you the what? Spirit of wisdom and knowledge in the what? Spirit of wisdom and revelation of what? In the knowledge of Jesus.

In the knowledge of his word. How many hears me? Paul's praying that he will the Holy Ghost will give you the spirit of wisdom and knowledge in the revelation of knowledge in Jesus his word his teachings. How many say amen? How many hears me?

All right. It's interpretation of languages and when you give the interpretation you don't have it anymore. So the next languages are brought and God lets you interpret. How many say amen? How many see that thread through all the gifts portions? Portions. All of them are just portions. How many say amen?

Portions. How many hears me? It's limiting to languages.

It has no function outside of languages. Without languages there's no interpretation of me. How many say amen? That's why tongues are the greater the two because interpretation depends on it.

Amen? Sometimes tongues or the interpretation may be longer and shorter than the other. You might have a long tongue message and a short interpretation or a short tongue message and long interpretation. That's because the differences in the languages.

All languages don't have word for word equality. How many have ever heard of the word Eureka? How many notice what Eureka means? I have found it. I have found it. It's the Greek word I have found it. In order for us to interpret Eureka the one word we have to say I have found it.

See four to one. So four English words to interpret Eureka. I have found it.

It takes me how long? Eureka I have found it. And the Greeks like that all the way down the line.

Huh? The Greek a lot of times has three words in the one. How many say amen? I have found it because the have is inherited in the word in the Greek. And in the Greek I the pronoun is in the word where we have to add it. We have to take found and then we got to put it and I and have. The Greek word has all of those elements in that one little word and that's the way the whole language is.

So it's not how long. How many say amen? And then it's not translating word for word. It's interpreting. How many say amen? And what does that mean? Interpreting means the making plain of give and giving the sense and significance of what was said in the tongues.

It means expounding it and making it understandable and if it takes a whole lot more words to do it. How many say amen? To make it plain. How many how many sees the point? So you can't judge how long or how short one or the other is. Normally the tongue will be the shorter and the interpretation the longer because I told you of the nature of languages. How many say amen?

Okay we're winding up. The greatest of the revelation mind gifts is wisdom as wisdom is superior knowledge. The greatest of the power gifts is faith as the others operate according to their measure of faith. The greatest of the utterances is prophecy. In fact Paul seems to think that prophecy is the greatest gift of all because of its ability to build up the church and to express the mind of God.

It's the medium in which the other best gifts are expressed. Faith is the word of authority and it must have an avenue of expression. Prophecy is the voice by which faith speaks. 2 Corinthians 4 13 says we having the same spirit of faith according as is written and I believe in therefore have I spoken.

We also believe in therefore we speak. Prophecy is also the very voice of the Holy Spirit. It is the only gift that Paul said to covet. 1 Corinthians 14 39 wherefore brother and covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongues. 1 Corinthians 14 1 and desire prophecy above all the others. Follow charity and desire spiritual gifts but rather that you may prophesy. What are the gifts? Seven of the gifts or spirits.

Two consistent power. The seven spirits prophecy. Paul in 1 Corinthians 14 12 makes this statement even so for as much as you are zealous of spiritual gifts. How many know in your King James Version the gift is in italics? It means it wasn't any original and here they translated like an adjective like in 1 Corinthians 12 chapter since you are zealous of spirituals this is not an adjective this is a noun and it means since you are zealous of spirits not gifts they put it in gifts but the gift is the spirit.

Seek that you may excel through the edifying of the church. So the word is not a spiritual it's not an adjective it's spirit of spirits. It was added by this here gifts was added by the translators and it should really read since you are zealous of spirits because seven of the gifts of spirits.

First of all let's give the proof. Word of wisdom word of knowledge I've been saying it right along Ephesians 1 17 that Paul prayed that God might give us a spirit of wisdom in the revelation of the knowledge of him. Acts 16 10 and they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

How many say that? He spoke by a spirit of wisdom. Faith as a spirit we having 1st 2nd Corinthians 4 13 we having the same spirit of faith according as is written I believe and therefore I have spoken we also believe and therefore we speak. Prophecy and the spirit of the prophets are subject to the prophets. Revelation 19 10 and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

How many say amen? False prophets to prove the negative this is one of the first scriptures God showed me to show to prove that the gifts are spirits when he was giving me this revelation 45 years ago on this. First of all I've already brought out John below believe not every spirit but try the spirits whether they be of God or not for many false prophets have went out in the land and they have a spirit a false spirit. How many say amen? Here's the scripture that God gave me that proved a negative that prophecy is a literal spirit.

They have and God wanted him to fall at Remoth Gilead you'll find the story in 1st Kings 22 19 23 let me read it. God was showing the prophet a vision in all of God and all his angels and his heavenly hosts were there and God said and he said hear thou therefore the word of the Lord I saw the Lord sitting on his throne and all the host of heaven standing by him at his right hand and on his left and the Lord said who shall persuade he had that he might go up and fall at Remoth Gilead and one said on this manner another said on the that manner there came forth a spirit mark that red in your Bible or yellow whatever you mark it and there came forth a spirit and stood before the Lord and said I will persuade him and the Lord said unto him wherewith or how and he said I will go forth and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of his prophets and God said now shall persuade him go forth and do so now therefore the prophet said behold the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all of these thy prophets as the Lord has spoken evil concerning thee it was a lying spirit prophesied how many say amen Paul said about tongues interprets for I pray in an unknown tongue my spirit prayeth huh else when thou blessed with the spirit how shall they occupy the room of the unlearned say amen his spirit is speaking in tongues how many say amen how can he say amen to giving you thanks seeing understand not what thou sayest so seven of the gifts of spirits and when God wants to use that spirit he's laying in here he anoints it how many say mm and if it's an utterance gift then he tells it what to utter if it's a discerning hip he lets him look out how many say mm how many hears me if it's faith that spirit will speak under that anointing and it'll happen the other two or power power to heal and power to do miracles hallelujah how much time about God I want to finish tonight that concludes the nine gifts of the spirit these are the gifts of the spirit he is the one that gives them he is the one that anoints them he is the one that operates them and they operate in the church services how many say in that somebody said well brother Hardy what about when we go out and get people saved healed in prayer meeting or or on a street corner and what I'm getting ready to it right now how many say in that now we're going to see about the gifts of Jesus we just spoke about the gifts of the Holy Ghost now we're going to speak about the gifts that Jesus gives us the gifts of the Holy Ghost work in the church to edify the church since you are zealous of spirits seek that you may as the sell to the edifying of what they operate in the church they are his manifestations that he's moving in the church the sinner don't know anything about the manifestations of the Holy Ghost that he's moving so the sign gifts operate out in the centers and especially overseas in the missionary field sign gifts how many say mm these are the gifts that Jesus gives because Jesus said the Holy Ghost ain't gonna get ahead of me I'm gonna give my people gifts too and God said that's okay I'm not gonna let the Holy Ghost and you Jesus get ahead of me and I'm gonna give them some gifts so we got gifts all over the place that begin given and God told you to seek them gifts and covered them all right Matthew 6 the mark 16 15 and 17 and 18 and he said unto them go you into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature here where are we at now we are on the evangelistic field preaching the gospel you don't preach the gospel to the church that's why when God said at first Corinthians 12 28 that he set the office in the church he didn't set the evangelists in the church did you notice that first Corinthians 12 20 and he said some apostles and prophets some teachers helps governments miracles gifts of healings tongues interpretation that's why all those speaking tongues because they're not in the office how many say amen all are not in the office of a prophet all are not in the office of apostle or not in the office of a teacher or not in the office of a healer that heals all the time and then he say amen and he said go into all the world and preach the gospel the sign gifts are given to confirm the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and when you go into a field such as India or Africa that are full out of worshippers and never heard the name of Jesus I get letters all the time from our missionary main missionary we support in India brother Santi Andam and he's always saying he's going back in the out country they've never heard of the name of Jesus so he cannot have the nine gifts of the Holy Ghost to edify the church there's no church there to edify but he's preaching the gospel and Jesus is going to work to sign gifts to prove that he's raised from the dead they say who is this Jesus and and you say well he is the Son of God and God loved the world and he gave Jesus and if you believe you'll get saved and and he died and he rose again well how do I know that he rose again well if he rose again from the dead then he's alive and if he's alive he'll heal that's the way it happens overseas and he prays one general prayer and people get healed by the hundreds all over the place because Jesus is confirming his resurrection with signs following of the preaching of the good news and what is the good news how do you get saved Paul said that if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth you shall be saved if you believe huh in your heart that God raised you from the dead and confess with your mouth that he is Lord you shall be saved so the gifts prove that he's raised from the dead and then he say amen huh and he said go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature and these signs shall follow them that believe so it depends on faith as we see in all the gifts in my name faith in my name and in my name means by my delegated authority and these signs shall follow them that believe ellipsis that believe they'll follow them using your measure of faith in my delegated authority they shall cast out Devils they shall speak with no tongues they shall remove demons because the word in the Greek means to remove not pick them up and put them around your neck like a necklace and if they drink any deadly thing and the if clause of the Greek means it's not likely but if they do and they have faith it shall not hurt them and they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover not the gift of healings in the church many same and portions of graces to the church but faith that you lay hands on the sick and they recover not the prayer of faith that you take the oil and anoint and try to pray a fair of faith how many say amen but the laying on their hands in the name of Jesus and out shoots the power through your hand the sign gifts are both the proof and the announcement of the gospel they are the manifest they are manifest to confirm the preaching of the gospel and approve the resurrection and present lordship of Jesus that all power and heaven and earth is given unto me and I'm alive forevermore and the Bible said in Acts 4 33 and with great power gave the Apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace was upon them all how many say amen these are the workings of the Lord the gifts the nine gifts in the church or the workings of the Holy Ghost these gifts working out in the evangelistic field to prove the resurrection of Jesus or the workings of the Lord huh and they went forth mark 16 20 and he preached everywhere the Lord working with them confirming the word with signs following how many same it for the confirmation of the word that Jesus saves Jesus heals because Jesus is resurrected and then he say amen not to edify the body of Christ right now the last one the witness gifts of God huh Hebrews 2 3 & 4 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation which at first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us that heard him what did Jesus speak the gospel of salvation and then it was confirmed unto the believer by those that heard him as apostles and when he say amen God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to his own will so God the Father gives signs wonders miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost to what witness that the gospel is true that Jesus said my doctrine is nine not mine but his that sent me how many say a man it is the fair witness that it is the gospel of God and the truth with signs wonders miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost it's a tragic thing that the King James translates that gifts of the Holy Ghost should have never did it because the word in the Greek is not charisma and let me say man you know what it is is Maris Mois which means distributions signs wonders and miracles and distributions of the Holy Ghost what does that mean brother Hardy acts 1038 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power with the double anointing he went about it's a naughty he went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil because God was with him how many say amen it's the anointing because the anointing is energizes seven of the gift spirits and the power operates healing and miracles how many say amen how many sees the difference now summarize the Holy Ghost has nine manifestations of grace called charisma which charisma is the result of grace which means enabling and divine ability they are given in portions of enabling power to enable you to have a word of wisdom word of knowledge faith healings miracles prophecy discernment tongues and interpretation they are manifestations of the spirit and not gifts you only have the gift the moment you get it and what portion you get it in to give to someone at that time and once you give it you don't have it no more they work in the assembly to edify and build up the church gifts of the Spirit gifts of Jesus work on the evangelistic field to prove the validity of the gospel and that he is raised from the dead and that he is Lord because you're saved by believing that God raised him from the dead and confess with your mouth if you'll believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and confess of your mouth you shall be saved God gives signs wonders and miracles and different anointings of the Holy Ghost to bear witness that the gospel is the truth that he gave to Jesus and then he say isn't that wonderful give the Lord a clap for amen what an insightful and timely teaching by God's servant brother Hardy on the gifts of the Spirit thank God that he has endowed his church the body of Christ with these nine marvelous manifestations of his Holy Spirit to bring forth mighty works of healings deliverance and revelation to his people and also as a witness to others that they might believe on his son the Lord Jesus Christ when the early church in Acts went forth preaching and teaching the gospel God worked with them confirming his word through mighty signs and wonders how much more do we today need the gifts of the Spirit and this age of counterfeit supernatural manifestations by the kingdom and prince of darkness this teaching is vital to our understanding for every believer and answers the question unequivocally and scripturally are the gifts of the Spirit for today and who may operate in the gifts how and when you will understand the operation the purpose and the function of the gifts of the word of wisdom the word of knowledge prophecy and discerning of spirits and how these gifts often work in tandem with each other as well as the power gifts of faith healings and working of miracles and finally you will understand the gift of diverse tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues and what the difference is between the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues given to the individual for his own personal edification and the gift of diverse tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues that operate in the
