GOP Rushes to Lawyer Up Ahead of Midterms.

On today's show, after an impending threat, the GOP rushes to lawyer up ahead of midterms. Keeping you informed and engaged, now more than ever, this is Sekulow. We want to hear from you. Share and post your comments or call 1-800-684-3110. And now your host, Logan Sekulow.

Welcome to Sekulow. This is Logan Sekulow. Will Haynes joining us back, back from vacation. People worried about you, Will. They were in the comments saying, what's happening here?

But, you know, we'll get to that a little bit later here. This is a pretty interesting breaking news item. Of course, we are going to discuss also what's going on in Europe. You know, the ACLJ has the European Center for Law and Justice for a reason. And this particularly is one of those reasons when you see what happens when these countries are overrun and radicalism really takes a front seat.

We're going to talk about that coming up a little bit later. But we wanted to start this show with how things are moving in the midterms and the impending threat that is now coming in from people who are, at this moment, running for office and are sitting in office right now saying, you know what, we're going to make it absolutely unconscionable for those who are young professionals, really, and I would say beyond the Trump administration. we're going to make it impossible for them to associate with or work for Republicans because if we do you're going to realize that that is going to taint your career and potentially keep it very very difficult to continue your employment guess we're going to try to scare you and you know what I got to give it to them they've done a pretty good job at that because you do know when you get into this line of work that you are taking some sort of personal and political risk hopefully not in terms of your safety but in terms of your future and they have made it like this has been a problem so much so that us at the aclj have been dealing with this firsthand with one of our cases we obviously uh had our lawyers and team who were part of the previous impeachment process and my dad and my brother and i can tell you firsthand it's not fun it's not fun to be there as much as it is an honor and a privilege to represent your country or the resident of the United States, it can come with some major sacrifices. And we know that has happened with one of the President's former attorneys, John Eastman. It's something that we've been involved with.

And now we have to look at this because as these threats come in, because we need to probably set it up, Will, where this threat came from, because it's a real deal. That's right.

So once again, as Logan mentioned, these are now converging topics, if you will, where what we are fighting at the Supreme Court right now trying to get the bar license restored of Professor John Eastman, who represented the President back in the previous administration. At the same time, you're seeing a Wall Street Journal headline as well as this soundbite that will play at a talk that Senator Sitting Center Alyssa Slotkin gave at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. That obviously is a center that was spearheaded by David Axelrod, the former campaign manager, and really the architect of the Obama presidency in many ways that are making these threats against not just the attorneys but anyone who goes to work for the President and this is the headline from the Wall Street Journal the race is on for Trump staffers to hire lawyers in case Democrats win the midterms the subtext there says cabinet officials ordinary staffers preparing for possibility that Democrats could launch probes if the party gains back Congress. And when we get a very good chance, right? And when we get back from the break, we have to play with this sitting Senator is saying, because we got to break it down.

I don't want to just play it and walk away from it. We got to spend some time with it because it's kind of terrifying that elected officials are weaponizing their public service like this to try and make sure that not just not even cabinet officials, not people that are their political enemies, but but young kids out of college internships that are just staffers it also goes against everything we've learned about being a representative or being a lawyer if you're a young lawyer going that you know you go in there your best job is to represent your client sometimes that those interests of your client don't reflect your personal you know beliefs your your job is to go in there and do this as a job we've always been able to separate that but in the last decade It feels like that's impossible. And they're going to make it harder and harder for top quality candidates. Do that look? They're going to make it harder and harder for us to recruit top quality candidates to not only be ACLJ attorneys, but to be our media team.

Because we know what it means. But I want to hear from you. Phone lines are open at 1-800-684-3110. Of course, you can support the work of the ACLJ. As we head to the midterms, election integrity at ACLJ.org.

We'll be right back. We just saw a clip from Fox News and I'm not worried about young conservatives being swayed by someone like Elizabeth Slotkin. And I'm not necessarily either, but what I am, not her particularly, you know, just her. but we have seen the weaponization used against not only young conservatives but young conservatives who have decided to take up office or to work or to be associated with publicly or build their career based upon not just conservative principles but working for maybe a political party or working for uh someone in office and guess what he may not be concerned about this one-off but i am concerned. We know here even recruiting is sometimes not the easiest thing because when you come to work and this is the topics we deal with each and every day, there are questions that come up and they know that guess what?

They're going to have to answer to their friends, to their family. It's not always just as simple as it looks to just say, I have a job when you know people are so politically polarized. And it's not like our content here is by far, you know, even close to the extreme nature or to being some sort of alt. I mean, look, I get accused of a lot of things online, even from our own side, you know, saying that I'm too soft on a lot of these issues.

So look, do you know, working here is not exactly like working at somewhere where, you know, the, the ideas are on the super fringe and it's still not easy and they want to make it harder. And who wants to make it harder you're right elected officials this is senator uh slotkin who again ran according to the reports as sort of a moderate and now of course has to toe the party line and be like if you're associated with therefore you are no longer to be associated with in the world that's right so i'm going to read this paragraph from the wall street journal report that says the race is on for trump staffers to hire lawyers in case democrats win the midterms and then we're going to play the sitender who's making this threat against staffers against just normal human beings working for the government serving their country and then we're going to talk about why our case with john eastman matters so much especially at a time like this so this is what the wall street journal report says it says from cabinet secretaries to mid-level staffers people who work for President trump are calling law firms in search of legal advice as they brace for an avalanche of investigations next year if Democrats take one or both houses of Congress in the midterms.

So why would they be concerned, right? Because, I mean, the Democrats were concerned about this administration weaponizing the office of the presidency and the Department of Justice to go after their political enemies. Certainly, if the Democrats regained power, that wouldn't happen. They would never do that, right?

Well, let's listen to the sitting senator from Michigan, senator slotkin who remember is a former cia agent her history is in is in intelligence so this is her threat i like that we both said intelligence at the same time well you know it was pretty it was good yeah this is what her threat was at the uh the david axelrod founded center for the study of politics at university of chicago bite one i am into effectiveness And if we have the House but not the Senate, you know, I don't have a ton of faith that my Republican colleagues are going to have any more strength.

So that's what I'm saying. I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the President, but on the people who enabled him. I want young people coming out of school to say, should I go work for the Trump administration? Like, that sounds fun. I might get an opportunity.

I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want. And so let me avoid participating in that. I want that deterrence message sent.

Well, message sent. Yeah, the deterrence message is don't go work for the White House. If you're coming out of school, that's a threat to a college graduate saying, if you go work for the President, you might get hauled before a congressional committee. Just that right there and her saying that I'm into effectiveness and her CIA training of scaring people seems to be coming to fruition here. Because that is such an ominous threat.

It's not just saying, hey, you know what? We went after President Trump and we worked really hard and we got a bunch of indictments and we did all these political show trials. But at the end of the day, he got reelected.

So what we need to do is expand our entire mission here and our entire strategy and go after anyone that works for him. It's more like a Hollywood cancellation idea. The concept of if you are associated with somebody, you can no longer work with them. You can no longer have anything to do with them.

Now, we've seen things soften up a little bit of that over the last few years, but it's still happening. And the idea that now we are going to take that beyond public figures and we're just going to move that to anyone.

So the idea is you cannot recruit talent, whether that's a legal talent, whether that's someone working in the office, whether it's a graphic designer, whatever it may be, because they may not fully align or because of who they align with, therefore they will no longer be able to work. And again, you're not talking about people who are on necessarily the fringe. you're talking about people who are working for at this point the elected President of the united states of america but that is too far for some people i understand the ramifications and the political correctness and all of the things that could come in to what your resume now states and i'm not saying that doesn't affect i'm not saying she's wrong i believe she is wrong in wanting this to happen but it is happening oh and the strategy is very effective that's what i'm And here's the other problem with it. There's actually several layers to this. One, there's only two years left in a Trump administration.

So her trying to even say like coming out of school, getting jobs. I mean, yes, there are always people being hired within the White House, but it's not as if you're going into the front end of this. This is a midterm threat. Right. And then he's done.

This is a generational threat of trying to scare people to work with conservative elected officials. And here's the other issue too. because what they've already started with our client at the aclj john eastman where they went after his license to practice law for doing what defending the President as an attorney there's a lot of attorneys that maybe don't even and i'm not saying this is john eastman but like the role of being an advocate doesn't mean that even you agree with everything that your client says and does it's that you are hired to defend them in court in the court of public opinion even and to represent them and so you're going to make arguments on behalf of your client they are weaponizing the system against even attorneys being able to do their job so now when you have trump staffers and cabinet secretaries calling law firms what do you think a lot of those lawyers are going to say uh you know what i've seen what the the democrats have done to the ability to even work as an attorney if I get involved with you.

So maybe we have a conflict of interest here Maybe we can take your case Why Because they already set the bar for the attorneys to even represent them if they go forward with their plan so high that there's going to be a lot of law firms that won't even take the call because of what they have done weaponizing the system against the advocates that want to defend these people when the democrats go after them and splitting apart families you know i think that's a part of this too the personal side of this. I can't tell you how many conversations we've had where we've had some very qualified candidates who've wanted to come work for us or do something with us, and they are all in, and then they have a talk with their kids, or they have a talk with their wife, or they have a talk with their grandchildren, and they decide, you know, it's not worth the fracture in their family, and I understand that. Because the talking point is no longer we can all sit around a table and have some disagreements and go on with our normal life. That's just not how things are done anymore, unfortunately, by the way. I think majorly, unfortunately.

It is one of the saddest things that has come out of this.

Now, hopefully that's not the way you live your life, and what I hope is that if my family, even my children, have different political points of view than me, then that will not cause a fracture in our personal relationship. But that is clearly what they want. I mean, that is what is being said here, which is you know that your career is on the line if you decide to take a picture with someone, to associate with someone. And we're not talking about, again, incredible fringe candidates. We're not talking about working for someone, conspiracy theorists.

We're talking about representing the President of the United States who won every swing state in the country the last time, last go round. And we're talking about really a threat against the midterm elections, which are just in a few weeks, because that is what this is inferring. What this inferring is, here's what happens if the Democrats win. Here's what happens if they win partially. Here's what happens if they don't win at all.

Now, I think we need to all be very prepared that this coming November, you may not see the election results you want. I think everyone needs to get out and vote and do what they want to do. You know, vote for who you feel like is best representing you, regardless of political party. But I think for a lot of our listenership and a lot of our viewership, I probably know where a lot of you decide you're going to place your vote and it may not be the way you want it to go.

Now, we've been surprised before. I think we were all, you know, a little surprised the last, I don't know, three or four elections that certain things went certain ways, even if you were hoping for the way they went and they ended up going. I don't know. The pollsters, the prognosticators were not always correct those last decades.

So we'll see where things go. But the idea that you're not allowed to even, it's not about speaking your mind in a public forum. It's not about being a political figure or being a political commentator or doing this. It is about just living your life, getting a job, paying your bills, and going to work for someone associated. They want to scare you to the point where they said, let's avoid participating in that.

I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems I don't want. And you know what? Sadly, Senator Slotkin is correct. It will be. It's a risk.

It's something you've got to have bravery for. But the ACLJ team is there as well. And we're going to continue fighting this. You know, this is always the ramp up of lawfare. And I want you to be a part of the team that stops it.

Join us at ACLJ.org right now and support our critical work, whether it's the Supreme Court over election integrity. We're also going to be taking some phone calls coming up. Rick Grinnell is going to be joining us a little bit later as well. A couple lines open, 1-800-684-3110. Welcome back to Secular.

We are going to take some phone calls coming up. Later in the show, Rick Rennell is going to be joining us. And we do want to give an update also of what's happening, obviously, in Europe. We're not ignoring the real reality of the situation there. Obviously, we have offices in Europe.

We have offices in France. This is precisely the reason. This is nothing new. yes, the riots and the extreme nature of it, that's certainly new. But the bubbling up of what's been happening in Europe is nothing that I'm very surprised about.

As much as I love it there, I've practically lived there in France. I've practically lived throughout a lot of these countries throughout my life. We've operated the ECLJ for over 25 years.

So think about that. I'm 40. A good portion of my life was spent in these countries. And I really do pray for them. And I really hope our team can work on this.

I do think they need a massive movement that is going to change the trajectory of what's going on in Europe and what's going on in the UK. And I think the sad part about it and the good, not the good, the bad part about this is it's a little different, especially in the UK, as much as I love it there, uh, in terms of what you can and can't say, they need their own version of a MAGA movement, but that version has to be within the, um, you know, within the guardrails of the United Kingdom's rule, within the guardrails of what Europe has to offer. Their freedom of speech is very different than our freedom of speech. And let's not forget that they are Western society, but they also live in a world where you are, um, targeted a lot about what you have to say. And I'm not talking about necessarily things that are directly violently threatening.

I think you should be targeted if that's happening. but if you're just making comments that someone is deemed, you know, to be on the list of things you cannot say anymore, certainly you couldn't really have a President Trump.

So there needs to be someone who can help in that situation. And look, I really do pray for those areas. I'm seeing that. I feel for everyone locally living there. I feel for everyone traveling.

And maybe this was your one time only to visit Paris and you are dealing with this situation and we'll keep an eye on it. And we're definitely going to ask Rick about it because Rick was certainly involved in the UN throughout his tenure.

So we're going to discuss that as these fiery protests that the media will not claim. They will not say what they're about. And then there'll be things like, oh, I don't know, a list of Jewish run businesses were the ones that got firebombed. You know, I think we all know what a lot of this has to really do with. and for some reason we'll avoid it and they'll pretend it's not happening.

But I did want to give you an update before we get to all of that. On that case we discussed with John Eastman, who is again one of President Trump's former attorney was disbarred and we're fighting back about that right now. And thankfully right now it's, it's going, you know, we're moving, things are moving, but you know, sometimes there's a step back to move step forward. And we kind of had one of those.

Well, that's right. And this is actually a good sign for where we are at in the process as as sometimes these uh i know it's almost tedious and takes forever it feels like but remember we filed the cert petition at the supreme court earlier this year and now it is before the court the state bar of california who is the the other side of this case who that's the ones who disbarred him uh and who we are uh against in this case actually declined to respond they waived their right to respond to our cert petition saying we don't need to just y'all decide whether you want to take the case or not meanwhile a lot of other groups chimed in filed amicus briefs in support including senator ted cruz and senator mike lee filed amicus briefs saying why it's so important to review a case like this so that they as members of congress elected officials can have legal counsel that aren't afraid of of political opposition going after their very livelihood they're very licensed to practice law just for representing a political candidate that they disagree with so on october 9th the state bar of california waived their right to respond said we're good on october 15th just late last week the supreme court ordered the state bar of california to respond by november 16th 2026 so now it shows one it doesn't give you a sign that yes they're going to take it absolutely but it's a much better sign that they're at least interested in what the other party has to say before they decide whether or not to take this case there is some interest within the court based off of our initial cert petition that they're like we need to hear from the state bar we need to hear what their argument is before we decide whether or not to take this up so november 16th is the current deadline i want to remind people that can also move because the state bar wasn't planning on responding now they just have a little bit under a month to respond to that they could ask for an extension we see that it is most likely if they ask for a month or even two months in in some cases you've seen when it's a state party uh they they many times most of the time will grant an extension so that number november 16th that's the one that we're all watching here at the aclj because our attorneys as soon as that gets in there we'll have to start writing our reply to their response i want to take a quick call before we go to break let's go to mario who's calling in illinois mario go ahead how you doing gentlemen good good uh i was i was going to respond to what the senator was talking about uh people not working for the white house i mean isn't there a fine line there where it sounds like the threatening it's like it's like i'm at a job and i tell a friend why don't you come over and work for work with us and they tell don't work for mario you know or something will happen i mean that's that's to me sounds like a threat is there a fine line there where as you can get them to stop saying stuff like that or i I mean, I know there's free speech, but still, to sound like a threat, that's not right, man. To me, that's not right for them to say that about whoever they want to work for. Mario, there's a couple ways to get her to stop those threats. One is if they don't get the majorities.

So if people show up and vote against what she is saying, yeah, then she won't have the power. They won't have the authority to start hauling people before congressional committees and trying to force them and make their lives very, very difficult. But yeah, I mean, it sounds very mafiosa-esque of like, hey, you may not want to take that job because there could be trouble for you coming. There'll be consequences. Right.

Yeah, it's definitely a threat, Mario. Yeah, I mean, it may be a threat that's not illegal, but it's something that they are kind of living on front street here. I mean, if you look at that comment, if you read at the end, the goal is for them to avoid participating. Why do they avoid participating? because they want a message sent that you're going to have problems in your future it doesn't necessarily mean problems you know she's talking about more employment opportunities things like that you're going to be you're shamed by your family all of this could happen if you just simply take a job well and once again we've seen them do this we've seen them do it to whistleblowers where they ruin the lives of whistleblowers within the government that are serving their government and say hey this doesn't look right but it's not ideologically pure for the left what do they do they ruin their lives yeah this is not a theory this is now just admitting what they've been doing and you've you've known that we've all known that there's nothing shocking here it's shocking they just come out and say it then elected official says it because we've known that we've known that in all walks of life that the idea is to build a bigger and bigger divide between Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, even if you know you could probably go have dinner with anybody and have a fine time.

But they've made it so that if you disagree on politics, there is at least a portion of the country that no longer will associate with you. And you may not even be someone who supports President Trump. You may be someone on the other side. You may be someone who is a conservative but doesn't like Trump. That may be too far.

You may be a conservative who will no longer have dinner with a liberal. You can get frustrated. You can disagree. We can disagree well. We can move forward in this country.

If Eminem and Kid Rock can do a song together, Will, on a Christian album, anything is possible. I've heard that. I heard the song. Oh. I just have heard that anything is possible.

Both are true. Phone lines are open for you. 1-800-684-3110. We've got a second half hour coming up. Don't go anywhere.

Join us online at ACLJ and we be right back Keeping you informed and engaged now more than ever This is Sekulow. And now your host, Logan Sekulow. Welcome to Sekulow. Second half hour coming up for you. Will Haynes in studio.

Rick Rennell is going to be joining us in just a few minutes. Don't go anywhere. I did want to lead us actually with a caller ahead of what we've been discussing which is this kind of push towards the GOP having to lawyer up, if you will, knowing that if the Democrats take control of the House and however the midterms go, and by the way, let's not pretend that's not a likely scenario, that they are going to have to deal with real legal threats, the least of which maybe would be the impeachment of the President of the United States. We know that that is a painful experience that can clog up everything. We also know likely won't lead to a removal from office at this point.

However, absolutely, is there a chance that it happens? Yes. But now we're talking about even in the individual. Then we're getting down a little bit deeper. Let's take a call, though, about this.

Karen in North Carolina, you're on the air. But also, before you go, Karen, phone lines are open. We do have a few lines open. And after, Rick, we will take some more calls.

So give me a call right now at 1-800-684-3110 to get your voice heard on the air today. Karen, North Carolina, go ahead. Yeah, Trump doesn't have to wait until the end of his term. Why can't he just go ahead and pardon everybody right now instead of them having to try to find lawyers to defend themselves?

So, Karen, I mean, one, great call. Thank you for calling. Here's part of the problem with that as well. is that right now they won't control the department of justice so it wouldn't necessarily be legal jeopardy uh of being charged with a crime that would be two years from now if they take back the white house because you know they're going to do that too this would be hauling them in front of all their committees trying to get them to say uncomfortable things trying to put pressure on them to perjure themselves trying to ruin their lives on public television uh by by showing everything that not public television like um pbs you know in the i saw your eye give it to me yeah on c-span ruining just imagine a sesame street just taking them bring them onto the streets before their committees and then also all the investigations all the subpoenas and you know what you need before you prepare for one of those or if you're being deposed by a committee you need an attorney you don't want to go into that blind you don't want to go in there without counsel to make sure that you say everything one that doesn't get you in trouble with things that may be classified things that maybe are are not even classified but but privileged information that you cannot give but also so that they aren't trying to put you in an impeachment trap so then they can in two years try and get you prosecuted the whole thing is a fear campaign that they are trying to do as she said they want them to think twice about working for it there's another layer to that as well, Logan, because they were so upset when they were laying off people that were career bureaucrats.

Now they're saying they don't want people to work for the administration. Their goal is to have no political hires at all, just ideological holdovers that fill and continue the executive branch. They're trying to completely strip the power from the office of the presidency and continue to be a bureaucratic state that they control from Congress. That's the other endgame here. They want no one that agrees with conservatives or with the opposite party to be even working in the executive branch.

They only want political career ideological bureaucrats. And look, we're taking this fight really directly to the Supreme Court of the United States, something we've been working on right now. I mean, I have this note in front of me. Obviously, we said a major development. The Supreme Court just ordered the State Bar of California to respond to our case.

defending former President Trump attorney John Eastman. We took his case to the Supreme Court after California disbarred him over election law advice.

Okay, this is happening right now. If you want to support election integrity, if you want to support the right to have an attorney, all of these things are happening. You can be part of petitions. You can be part of so many things at ACLJ.org. And we're going to get some expert feedback from Rick Grinnell when we get back.

And we have a bunch of lines. We had almost a full bank of calls, but I don't know what happened. We lost a bunch.

So if you want to call in, right now is a great time to do it. 1-800-684-3110. I'll get you on the air if I can. Be kind to your phone screener. But support the work of the ACLJ, our critical work right now at ACLJ.org.

Again, we're going to take as many calls as we can. And we just lost another one. You know what? Give me a call. Do Will and I a favor right now.

Call in. Pardon everybody. But then they don't have the Fifth Amendment. I'm just saying. We'll be right back.

Welcome back to Secular. Rick Rinell is joining us right now. Obviously, Will in studio as well. Phone lines are open at 1-800-684-3110. We're done with Rick.

We're going to move on and take some calls. This is a good time to call in. 1-800-684-3110. Rick, of course, we saw the chaos that broke out in Europe over the weekend. For those of us who have followed this, we know that this has been bubbling up really for decades in Europe.

As someone who has spent a lot of time there over my life, this sort of, maybe not to this point of the looting and the extreme nature of the protesting and the fires, but this has been something that has been ongoing. The threat has been there, and now it feels like the world is at shock. But sadly, I am not, because this is not something that I eventually thought this would happen, and we really need to see some real change come to Europe. I know with your relationship in the UN and everything that you've done, that I'm sure you've seen something similar. This is a need of a major change in Europe and the UK.

Look, I think it's got some similar, not exact, but similar conditions to the Arab Spring that we saw where people began to rise up. There was really a push for greater democracy from the governments. Look, you see what's happening in Albania and in France. One thing that is important to note is Germany went through this first in terms of immigration, and they didn't do it right. Chancellor Merkel was widely criticized.

It's why her party is literally in the tank and the AFD is beginning to rise in Germany. And what we saw in Germany, the people stood up and said, look, we want to have big hearts. We want to have immigration, but we need laws. We need to have a system that allows people to come in legally.

Now, when you combine that with the incredible, huge social service paychecks that are going out to people throughout Europe, especially in France. You have people who are working hard saying, I can't get ahead because the government keeps paying and giving people free money who aren't working. And so this clash is coming forward. It also has everything to do with housing prices and gas prices, which is why the students are going to the streets and being very violent. We see that in Tirana, Albania.

These are problems that governments have to address pretty quickly. I'll also note for Macron and his Renaissance Party, they have elections next year for President, April of 2027, I believe. And that means that all of this unrest is really going to become a political issue. Who can do better to please the regular voter in terms of making government spend less, spend more on individuals and also control the immigration problem, which is really a terrible problem throughout Europe. I'll finish with this.

Remember, the EU got weaker and smaller because of immigration. They couldn't control their immigration. They didn't have enough rules when the UK said we're out of here, otherwise known as Brexit.

Well, Rick, I mean, you brought up Brexit. I thought that was really interesting because what we saw prior to 2016, the first Trump administration victory in Presidential election, Brexit almost was a little bit of a bellwether of like, oh, the world could be a little different than we're all expecting on paper. Right. And what did we see? We saw President Trump win when when no one expected.

I think, Logan, you may have been one of the first people after seeing Brexit thought, I think President Trump could win because of what happened in England. This is something that I know a lot of Americans don't like to think that there's patterns that mirror each other in Europe and America that were very different. It's a small world. But this is what's interesting to me. You have what has been a long, very much more socialist government in France than we have here in the United States.

But what you see is that style of politician, when you think of these DSA candidates, are appeasing the same group of people that have now turned violent because their promises couldn't be fulfilled. When all of the people that are now booing Mayor Mondami for going to a vigil on about October 7th and saying you were a traitor, it's the same ideologue in New York that's booing their favorite politician that is now burning down historic sites in France. It is that weird blend of communism and free Palestine that we're seeing pop up around this country. We also know that France tried very similar lawfare against their more French national style candidate, Marine Le Pen. A lot of these parallels are popping up.

Do you think this should be not just a warning for Europe, but also for the United States? Yeah, look, whenever politicians make big promises and the people then become very disappointed, that inflames individuals to take action. And I think, you know, one of the things that the words that that President Obama used to always say, which I think was really a good thing people really grabbed onto, which was hope. If you have hope, you can get up the next day and work a little bit harder because you have hope that you're going to be able to get a house or that you're going to be able to get ahead. When you lose hope, it's a real problem.

Let me just say that this is a lesson for the United States. I think you're exactly right. what I saw this past weekend in Michigan, where I was campaigning with Arab and Muslim groups, largely around Detroit, Wayne County area, is some of the same people who said, we voted for President Trump in 2024.

Some of those same people are now saying, we're going to vote for El Saeed. And I was really shocked at the emotional connection a lot of Muslims were having to and Arabs just to simply say, you know, this could be our first Muslim U.S. senator. I want to I want to vote for him. And when I pushed back to say, yeah, but, you know, this is a DSA candidate.

This is someone who wants to take your money, who is really attacking the American dream. The response I got was shocking. It was, well, I think all politicians say what they have to say. And I don't believe that he's going to be like that when he gets to the Senate. I heard that over and over.

And I kept saying, if you think Chuck Schumer is going to allow him to not vote with the Democrats all of the time you totally wrong So I think that the people and their disappointment are beginning to really push back and they are taking control of a lot of elections Rick, I want to play this really quickly. Speaking of Michigan, this is Senator, sitting Senator Alyssa Slotkin from Michigan, talking about what her goal is if they are to when both the House and the Senate bite one? I am into effectiveness. And if we have the House but not the Senate, you know, I don't have a ton of faith that my Republican colleagues are going to have any more strength.

Yeah. And Rick, when you hear that, I mean, obviously it's a big threat, but it's a threat that they've been able to successfully do in many ways, which is make people consider where they're going to get a job, who they're going to talk to, who they're going to associate with, because it goes now beyond the fact that, you know, I don't know, he's President of the United States who won every swing state. All of those things don't matter anymore. It's going to determine social status as well. Look, we moved past cancel culture.

Let me be very honest with everybody who's listening to me. Do not vote for Democrats. They'll take us back to an open border and cancel culture. They will take us back to the point where you cannot get along with your neighbor because if they're different from you, you're forced to cancel them. This is outrageous.

It's un-American. I hope people see what she's trying to do and reject it well and once again you brought up the hope that the slogan of the Obama campaign now while the staffers and those that work for him actually sowed a lot of the seeds that have grown into this the camp that that ideal was right but what is to have hope in America and to want young people to go and make a difference in their country and work for their government and serve. What the senator here is saying is one of the most anti-American things I've ever heard saying, we want you to be afraid to work for your government. It went from hope to nope. She is just like, absolutely not.

Don't go work for them. This is this is a partisanship unlike I've ever seen. And look, I will go to my grave talking about President Trump and how he is the politician. If you've ever wanted someone to work across the aisle, if they're willing to do it, to cut a deal, to not be as partisan as other politicians are, President Trump is the one. He is somebody who will always cut a deal, even with the other side.

Well, thank you, Rick, for joining us. I think a lot of us feel that way, too. Phone lines are open. I would love to hear from you right now. Of course, we're pushing back on this here at the ACLJ.

I want you to be a part of the team. You know, at ACLJ.org, all the content we provide you is absolutely no cost because other people donate and support. Or maybe you donate and support, but it's not by the paywall, is what I'm saying. And that's only because you do an incredible thing, which is to donate to our organizations, whether it's one time or every month as a champion. When we get back, I want to hear from you.

1-800-684-3110. Get in line. Welcome back to Secular. We're just reviewing some comments that were coming in through our YouTube stream, through our Rumble stream. If you want a good way to interact, by the way, I always love you to call in because I like to hear from you.

And we do have some phone lines open. This is a great time. If you want to be on the air today, last chance, give me a call right now at 1-800-684-3110. Will not be a long wait. There's only eight and a half minutes left in the show.

So if you want to be on, now is the time to do it at 1-800-684-3110. But if you want a great way to interact with people, sometimes like-minded, sometimes not, you should join us on YouTube or on Rumble because the chats there are always just as entertaining, if not more sometimes, I guess, than the main show.

Sometimes we're just your emcees and the real conversations happening online and we see some of these conversations break out. But we also get questions that come in and we try to screen through some of those and either answer them just within context. But then often Will can pull some or someone from our team can pull some and we have some questions or comments.

So, I think we've got some of those today. that's right so this one came in from rumble and it says this is going back to the the alissa slotkin situation the wall street journal report that trump staffers are now looking for attorneys in case that there is a majority democrat in either the house or the senate in just a month really a couple months after they're sworn in but it says if these people start indicting conservative lawmakers will they go after those of us who donate uh now that they have the lists of donors and that is referring back to that story that i know you covered last week about jack smith about how they had over 600 000 donor records that they're starting within jack smith's special council report what i would say is uh to our commenter here um yes i think they're going to because her entire goal, Alyssa Slotkin, is saying, I want people to be afraid to vote for or to work for the President. You might as well hear it again. Yeah, let's play it. I am into effectiveness.

And if we have the House but not the Senate, I don't have a ton of faith that my Republican colleagues are going to have any more strength.

That deterrence message to not work for the President. If you think that that's their goal there, what's their next deterrence method going to be don't donate to conservatives because guess what not not um uh you may have done anything wrong or or we're going to go after you but we know who you are we're keeping a list when we're in power we have the list we have the donor list this goes right back to the issues we saw when they went after the tea party the irs went after tea party groups what did they want they wanted donor lists we had to fight back against that why do they want donor list because they want to intimidate especially when you have a donor list that's 600 plus thousand people those are not people under investigation it's not like you did some sort of deep dive found a few people you want the information of and you went and got that i don't love that either but at least i could understand it's part of investigation but if you're just like blanket give me everybody and sadly that works we got a whole mess of other questions to answer for and one of those is coming in right now on line one now look there are two calls right now there are two jeffs so jeff in illinois you're up first jeff go ahead yeah i was just wondering last time i checked as a retired law enforcement officer intimidation tactics are right out of the al capone handbook it's still against the law to intimidate people such as that nature why is she not being prosecuted for that yeah i mean jeff i do think that there's a bit of that but i think there's also some freedom of speech expression here saying, you know what, this is the goal. It's being honest and being, look, and again, it hasn't, it has worked. It has been an issue that we've all been dealing with. They're just saying it now out loud.

And yeah, they're sure there can be some things, but, and look, we've dealt with that even on the smallest scale, but in terms of what she's saying, I think we more just need to be keenly aware of what she's saying and what the future could look like in just a few weeks.

Well, and once again, she's definitely being open about what their plan is. They are going to do all these hearings. They are going to do all this. And so, yeah, she's trying to make it, saying, yeah, we're going to make it very difficult. And what's our goal?

It's that you don't want to be a part of that. But remember, this is also, we talked about her CIA background. This is one where intimidation in psychology is something she does. they there's uh trackers that that the opposition sends out to follow you at your rallies and stuff when you're running for office she had a republican tracker who was going around and she uh went to him and just said how is and said his dog's name the the individual had no social media profile or anything and said how's uh let's say uh rover doing how's rover doing as she got in a car and so much so that it made him nervous how did this former cia agent know my dog's name now obviously that's kind of cool though i know but that is her entire mo is to intimidate and scare well we got a call about that too other jeff jeff in virginia go ahead yes very quickly i'm wondering if there is some way where there can be a sign off with the cia or nsa where they would not be allowed to go into elective government after they finish their term because of this whole deep state possibility of collusion. I get the vibe of that, but I disagree with it.

I don't think we should be disqualifying people, especially people who serve their nation in many different ways, disqualify them from public office. I actually think there's a lot of instances where you do want people with that kind of experience.

Well, and to some degree, as you said, the Constitution has the requirements for running for office. One thing, if you start to try and amend those and mess with it, that's what they tried to do against President Trump, is they tried to disqualify him from running for just existing after his first term. And so, yeah, I don't think that's necessarily the right move. I get your point of view. I just don't necessarily agree with the legality of it.

I think that's, look, that's always been something that you always have have to, you know, balance when you listen to this show. And I understand it because sometimes that frustrates people that I don't always align with your point of view. But a lot of times not that I don't align with your point of view is I'm also looking at it critically from a legal perspective as well. I mean, I'm not a lawyer, but Leah will. And I've been surrounded by it by our whole lives.

We can kind of read the tea leaves and where things could go. And when you make a decision that's politically motivated on either side, the ramifications can be massive.

So you want to make sure that you're always just being honest and being honest with your audience as well. And I I'll always be honest with you. That is one thing that you have to know about this show is that sometimes you don't like what I have to say, but know that it's coming from a place of just being honest and having some integrity here on this show. Because if not, then you're just being force fed an echo chamber. I'm just feeding you the soup you want to eat.

That can't be the case because we're never going to be able to move forward. If I tell you right now, the Republicans are going to win in a landslide.

Well, I don't know if that's true, but certainly the signs are not pointing in that direction.

So I would just be trying to deceive you. And I'd rather be honest so we can be prepared. And the ACLJ team can be prepared. Our legal team can be prepared. Our media team can be prepared.

And none of that happens without you. Understand the ad revenue you may see, the ad content you hear on the radio, none of that goes to us, goes to the local station or to the network. The ad content maybe you watch on YouTube or Rumble is so minuscule in terms of the budget of the organization that sure it helps and it's great but it has really no you know value beyond just something nice it may you know help offset some costs 99.9 percent of the way this organization runs without paywalls make sure our content can get out there to each and everyone to make sure we can represent you legally in court without ever sending you a bill all of that has to do with you supporting the work of the ACLJ financially.

So if you can, I know it's tough. It's not the right time, I understand. But if you can, it's a great time to do it. That's at ACLJ.org. Do it today.

Thanks for listening today. We'll be back tomorrow. Brand new show each and every day this week. We'll talk to you then. Join us live, by the way.

It's always more fun. See you then.
