Welcome to PowerPoint with Jack Graham. Jesus said, I. M the way. I am the truth. I am The life.

Yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever, He is Lord. On today's PowerPoint, Dr. Graham brings a message about how to enjoy the hope of Christmas all year long.

Now, here's Dr. Graham with his message. A savior for all seasons. I want to talk to you about experiencing a daily advent of Christ in your life. The word advent means coming.

Of Christ into the world. And so we can experience in Him a daily. Advent and experience the reality. and the relevance of what happened at that first Christmas so long ago.

Now Christmas on The 25th of December, of course, is just a number. It's just a date. We don't know exactly when Jesus was born. Early Christians, some of them celebrated the birth of Jesus on March the 25th. Others, in lieu of the winter solstice, celebrated the coming of the king into the world on December the 25th.

Some have suggested that Christmas has just been an adaptation. Yeah. Ancient rituals and pagan holidays and feasts of the past, but no, not at all. The early Christians took December the 25th not to try to Christianize a pagan feast, but to proclaim the supremacy of Christ over all the superstitious gods of their time. It was a rival event.

That Jesus is king over all, and the world has forgotten all of those, for the most part, those Greek and Roman gods of the ancient world. But on Christmas Day, The 25th of December. Carols of Christ will be sung worldwide. Little children will dress up in costumes and and portray shepherds. Nativity scenes are seen everywhere, and churches will be full as people worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

Every year on December the 25th, the world stops to worship Jesus Christ the King. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter what date Jesus was actually born. One day is as good as another. Because when you are a Christian, you celebrate every day the Christ who has come. And the Savior.

Who lives? It's a great day. And it precedes many great days in our lives. This is because He is a Savior. For all seasons.

So, whatever season you are in life, whatever stage or age you may be. You can experience in the circumstances of life. Every day, the reality of Jesus Christ, and it is all because He came. Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 8 says, Jesus is the same. Yesterday Today And forever.

And we can know. Um Experience the presence and the power of Jesus in our lives because yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever, He is Lord.

Now, no one born on this planet has affected and impacted the world like Jesus. The French historian LaTarette said as the centuries passed, The evidence is accumulating that measured by his effect upon history, Jesus is the most influential life ever lived on this planet. And of course, you cannot have The Christian faith. Without Christ. You can't compare.

Christ and the faith that he has given us to any religion in the world. You take Muhammad out of Islam and you still have the principles of that religion. You take Buddha out of Buddhism, Confucius out of Confucianism, and you still have the basic tenets of that religion. But if you take Christ, if you take Jesus out of Christianity. Then you have nothing left.

Others have said, I am a path, I am a sign pointing people to God. Jesus said, I am a path. and the way. Others said, I'm a teacher. But Jesus said, I am the truth.

Others said, I am a philosopher of life. Jesus said, I am The life. Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. He is an incomparable Savior. The same yesterday, today.

and forever. The writer of Hebrews amplifies This profound statement in the very first chapter of the book of Hebrews. And I want to invite you to turn there. Beginning in verse 1. Hebrews chapter One.

Long ago, At many times, and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets. But in these last days He has spoken to us by his Son. Whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. And after making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the right.

Of the majesty on high. Having become as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which the angels did God ever say, You are my son, today I have begotten you. Or again, I will be to him a father, and he will be to me a son. And again, when he brings the firstborn...

into the world he says let all god's angels Worship him. And of the angels, he says, he makes the angels winds and his ministers a flame of fire. Who is This Savior for all season, and what is he like? Number one. Jesus is a sovereign Saviour.

That means that he is king. And therefore he is in control. If you read a little farther down into this passage at verse 8, the scripture says, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. This of course speaks of Jesus.

Jesus is God who rules from a throne. In the heart of the Christian faith, Is to understand that Jesus is not merely a man speaking about God. Nor was he a man who became a God. But he is God who became a man. The incarnation of God, God in the flesh.

And the word. tabernacled. housed himself among us. and this one that we worship. The babe who was born, the Savior who died, the Lord who rose from the dead.

He is God in human flesh. And Jesus sovereignly, therefore, reveals God's word. That's what verse 1 tells us. That in the past, God has spoken to us in various ways gradually. And purposefully.

God has spoken in creation. In conscience. God revealed himself through the prophets. and through the written word. But now, finally, fully, and forever, God who Came in the person of Christ.

has shown up in human flesh. To tell us how much God loves us. to die for us. to live for us. To be our Savior and our God.

If you love someone, you must speak of that love, and God loves you. And this is why God broke through time and eternity. To speak his love in the person of Christ. And he revealed his purposes for life in Christ. Jesus sovereignly reveals God's word.

But there's something else in this passage. Jesus sovereignly regulates God's works. Because it says that he created and sustains the entire universe. He is the Christ of the cosmos. He is the one who holds everything together.

He made the world. And the sweet little Jesus boy of Matthew chapter 1 is the mighty God who created everything according to Genesis chapter 1. He rules and he regulates The world. His power, His presence is seen in the universe. By him all things consists.

No wonder the Bible says this Jesus Deserves our worship and receives the worship of God. Verse six. You are God and he is to be worshipped as God. The number one commandment is the sin of idolatry. to keep the commandments.

Not to worship. False gods or ideologies or idols.

So if Jesus is not God, Why would the angels worship him? Why would God who speaks here pronounce him As God Himself. God the Father, verse eight, calls Jesus God. And I am excited about Christmas. This year and every year.

Each day and every day. Because Jesus is Our sovereign God. And if he can control the universe, if he can control this world, he can control your world and mine as well. Jesus is a sovereign Savior, and therefore he is a savior for all seasons of life. You're listening to PowerPoint with Jack Graham and the message: a savior for all seasons.

Now let's get back to today's message: a savior for all seasons. Secondly, Jesus is a solitary Savior. The one and only Savior. Look at verse 3 of chapter 1 once again. He is the radiance of the glory of God, the exact imprint of his nature, and he opposed the universe by the word of his power.

And after making purification for our sins, that speaks of the cross. After he died on the cross to purify us from our sins, he himself sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high. He by himself, in and of himself, has made it possible for us to be forgiven and that we may know God. He dealt with sin by himself.

Now, there are many speculations today as to what is wrong in the world. The sociologists suggest that this is a cultural lag or drag. Psychologists would say the problem is. Is the psyche, emotional behavior? The humanists would say the problems of the world are a result of human weakness.

The socialists would say that our problems in the world are a result of class struggle. The criminologist would say the problems in the world is a result of deviant behavior. Ultimately, we know that our problems are not cultural or even financial, that our problems are a result of moral and spiritual failure.

So what we need, what you need, What I need is a savior. The problem is sin. And Jesus is the Savior of sin. There's only one way. to be forgiven of our sins, and that is by his blood shed for us on the cross.

Jesus doesn't need any help. To save you, He doesn't need my help or your help to push ourselves upward and onward. He Himself has made purification for our sins. He and He only. No wonder the Bible says, if I be lifted up, I will draw all into myself.

He is the solitary Savior. And the reason that Jesus is remembered above all others who walked upon this planet is the sacrifice of his life and of his love for us. There is no other plan, there is no other way, there is no other pathway. Bow. That which is given to us in the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the message of the apostles. This is the clear declaration of the church. Nor is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. We don't all pray to the same God.

We're not all finding our way to the same God by a different pathway. He, Himself, Has purified us from sin. Jesus did it. He purged us of our sins. And therefore he sat down at the right hand.

of the throne of God. signifying his power and his authority. In the ancient world, In the Old Testament, The priest who served in the holy place never sat down. There was no chair. in the most holy place of the temple.

But when Jesus died, our high priest, Our glorious Savior. He cried out to Telestai, it is finished. That is paid in full. And then according to scripture, he sat Down. Because salvation is now accomplished.

Do you know that the very first words Of Jesus in the New Testament are these. I must be about. My father's business. And then the last words before his ascent. Where it is finished.

He finished the work the Father sent him to do. The business of God. was to sacrifice For our souls. And there is no hope to go to heaven in any other way. Because Jesus is the solitary Savior.

All glory to God, the Savior, Lord Jesus Christ. This is why he is a Savior for all seasons. This is why this celebration Of love and life at Christmas is so significant.

Something that started so small. A little baby in a manger. In a distant place a long, long time ago. In obscurity. has changed the world.

And he has changed my life. And I pray that he has changed yours. He is the solitary savior. One of my favorite carols of Christmas. Is God rest ye merry gentlemen?

And we often miss the real meaning of of this carol because we put a comma where the original writer of the hymn did not put a comma. We put a comma between Mary and gentlemen which originally wasn't there. We also misunderstand this hymn of Christmas because we don't understand the word Mary.

Now, when we think of Mary, we think of, you know, frivolous and light and happy. But in the day that this was written, the word Mary meant strong, valiant, and courageous. Think of Robin Hood and his merry men. The word rest, God rest. Ye married gentlemen.

Is God make? And so actually, this hymn was written as a charge to men to stand boldly for Christ in their generation. God make you merry, strong, valiant. Courageous. Men Gentlemen.

and gentle women. God rest, you married gentlemen. This is the gospel. Let nothing you dismay. Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day.

To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. Comfort and joy, O tidings of comfort. Enjoy. The message of Christmas is the message of that carol.

That Christ in and of himself. Jesus only. is the Savior. for all seasons. and for all people.

But not only a sovereign savior. And not only a solitary savior. But a superior Saviour. Throughout The book of Hebrews, the word superior. is used to describe this superior faith that we have.

in Christ. Superior to religion. Superior to Philosophy. There were a group of men who came to Jesus. or tried to get to Jesus.

And they said, Sirs. we would see Jesus. Philosophy had failed. Their religion had failed. The Jews themselves were having trouble living up to Judaism.

And therefore Jesus came as the fulfillment of the messianic prophecy. To show us a better way. He is a superior Savior. We have something better. than law.

We have something better. That ideas and ideologies, we have a superior Savior.

Someone worth giving your life to serve all the days of your life. I say to you, students here today. Jesus, the superior Savior, is worth everything you have to live for him. We have an opportunity in our generation. To live in the fullness and the freshness of our life in Christ.

Christmas is wonderful. Because Jesus is wonderful. And the whole point of the story. The greatest story ever told. Is Jesus?

is superior to all. Even The angels Worship him. Look again in your scriptures. Let all of God's angels, this is verse 6. Let all God's angels worship him.

Superior to man. Superior to angels. There are three well-known angels. And their names given to us in Scripture. One, of course, is Michael.

His name means who is like God. And then Gabriel. Which means man of God. And then the fallen angel Lucifer. Which means Light bearer.

But of all of these angels, Those glorious in might, those glorious in ministry, those glorious in majesty. Jesus has a more glorious name. Jesus is not mighty like Michael. He is almighty. He is not glorious only in his message.

He is the message. He is not the light-bearer. He is the light. He's not a star. He's the light of the world and the sun of righteousness.

And therefore, he and he alone is to be worshiped of Jesus. His name, it is said, is above every name. I pray that you will have a Christ-centered Christmas. More importantly, I pray that you will have a Christ-centered life. You're listening to PowerPoint with Jack Graham and the message: a savior for all seasons.

And the best way I know to really experience a daily Advent is to constantly rehearse in your heart and mind the gospel. that Jesus came, lived a sinless life, that He died a brutal death for our sins, and that He rose again in victory over death and hell.

And he did this for you. And it doesn't matter what season of life you may find yourself in today, Jesus is your Savior. If you're struggling financially, He is your provider. If you're struggling with sin, He is your Redeemer. If you're weighted down by grief or sadness, he is your comforter.

If you're searching for life, he is the giver of life. No matter what season of life you're in, Jesus is the Savior.

So as you strive to make every day Christmas Day in your life as a follower of our Lord, remember the gospel. Remember that Jesus is your sovereign Savior. He created all things. He rules over all things. And He is the upholder of all things, including every detail of your life.

Then remember that Jesus is your solitary Savior. He doesn't need your help to save you. He was born to die and pay the penalty for our sin on the cross, and He's the only one who is able to accomplish the forgiveness of sin, the redemption of your eternal soul. And finally, to experience a daily Advent in your life, remember that the Lord Jesus is your superior Savior. Christian, you and I have something so much better than what a typical life brings.

And why is that? Because we have Jesus. Jesus adds life, He doesn't take away. Yes, you've got a great life because you have a great God.

So this Christmas season, after all the packages have been unwrapped, after all the food has been eaten, and after all the bills have been paid, you don't have to have that empty feeling that so many people experience after Christmas. You can take Christmas with you every day. And that Christmas experience is the abundant and full life that Jesus gives. And that is today's PowerPoint. Remember that when you give a gift to PowerPoint, your gift will be doubled by a generous matching grant.
