Choo choo. Uh seven six now All right, so uh I have a large cat.
So he had to go get groomed. He's a Russian mane coon. He's a purebred. And long hair is hard to maintain. You got them taken care of.
Okay, now.
So, on the way back, I got online on the phone and I looked up to my car. I'm just listening online. I had an interesting discussion. And we're into this room on Reformed theology, and I just go ahead and listen. I'm driving and um Listening to some news today, too, and you know, just whatever.
And so the. I encountered something really interesting, uh the vitriolic hatred. And I mean Vitriolic. hatred. towards the the idea of Calvinism of Reformed theology.
This guy came in and uh he Was he had been raised with Reformed theology, and he's no longer that.
Now, and the reason is because of his uh very sinful lifestyle. And we'll get into the specifics, but we got talking. And he was asking questions about Reformed theology, and so I was answering the questions. And someone piped in. And this happened and then as pro as conversations go.
I said that God does ask us and require of us things we can't do. And people just say that's impossible. And I say, for example, 1 Peter 1:16, be holy, for I am holy. Being holy is his character. And it's an essential property of what God is: His holiness.
Like 1 John 4 says, God is love, love is part of His nature. Holiness is part of his nature. We can't be holy, not as God is holy. It's impossible. and he wants us, however, to act in a holy manner.
But the unbelievers are sa slaves of sin, and they can't do that kind of stuff. And I said so the standard is God, not man. And the standard of righteousness is God, not man. It's going to continue on. And people jumped in and got mad because I hadn't gotten to the whole bit.
You know, I was going to say, and what we cannot do, God grants to us in the cross, in the work of Christ. And Uh so what happened was it's interesting. This guy gets in and erupts. And I said, well, I wasn't done. And then another guy jumps in and says that what I was teaching was satanic.
And this was an Eastern Orthodox guy. I believe he was East Northwest. He might have been Catholic, but I've talked to him before. and said that what I was teaching was satanic in that Um That God requires things of us that we can't do because it's His character that is the standard of righteousness, not ours. You know, Acts 17.30.
God says be uh he says r God commands everyone everywhere to repent.
Well, we can't repent. God has to grant us that repentance. 2 Timothy 2:25. And I went to Matthew 5:48. Where Jesus says, Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.
And this is a perfection. We can't do this. But God is the one who works through us, and the only way we could ever do anything that even resembles these commands is by the grace of God.
Now, I was going to say that last bit to them. but they're so vitriolic and full of hatred that uh Some of them jumped in and interrupted. I said, guys, I'm not done. I was going to say the whole thing. And they said I was from Satan.
And I thought it was really interesting because I was quoting scripture. And I didn't hear the other guy, one guy quote scripture. He says he did. I didn't recall it, but I said, You didn't quote scripture. And he says, You are a liar, I did.
And it's interesting that they are so quick to accuse of evil. Quickly, they just accuse you of evil. I even got on and I said look I don't recall you uh Recording the scripture, my apologies. I just don't, I didn't hear it, or whatever. I don't know.
I was being very polite, and the guy says, I'm a liar and a deceiver, and I'm from Satan. And uh That to me is really interesting. And so Well, this other guy who's living this sinful lifestyle had asked, about the issue of free will. And I said, Yeah, we have free will. and God is the one sovereign over it.
And he said, what about predestination? That means you don't have free will. I said, Yes, it does. And I went to explain, and they jumped in again. And interrupted.
And this is before this act, we're reversing it. This is what the first topic was: predestination. And free will. And they jumped in and interrupted. And it was the second part I gave first that they did that with as well.
And after a while of this, This ridiculous Constant interruption, constant just berating, accusation. That I finally just said to them, I said, Look, you guys, you don't want to hear the answers. You just accuse, you're full of vitriol and hatred. I said, I'm done, I'm out. And I just, that was it, I left.
And uh Because I don't want to participate in uh their evil. to call the things of God evil. Be holy, for I am holy. You know, 1 Peter 1:16. We can't be holy, ladies and gentlemen.
We cannot. It's something that rests in the character of God.
Now, then one person, I remember this, he says, Well, wait a minute. In Exodus 3, God said to Moses that you're standing on holy ground. He says, See, you can be holy. I'm like, what? And One of the battles I have dealing with people.
Oh man. Is besides their scriptural ignorance, is their logical Okay. lack of logical precision. And I said, wait a minute, are you saying Because the ground was holy that That he was Moses was standing on. Remove your sandals.
That means we can therefore be holy. And he says, Yeah. And I said, so how does that make us holy? When God is presence is there, and it's his presence that makes something holy. How does that make us holy?
And of course, I was accused of humanist philosophy. What is humanist philosophy? Uh It is using man as the standard of righteousness, the standard of truth, the standard of what God will or will not allow or accomplish. It's humanist philosophy. And I think I've written an article called, I'm not sure, Christian Humanism.
or Christian humanist philosophy, or something like that. And uh It was an attempt to get the idea out of. Theological positions that Christians hold, or people call themselves Christians. That are really man-centered.
Now, when I say call themselves, because Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic. their official doctrines on salvation are are just not Christian. And there are Protestants who can be certainly for real Christians, but they just have some erring ideas about certain theological perspectives, like. God won't ever ask you to do anything you can't do.
Okay. And I always like to show them, you know, I ask them, where does it say that in the Bible? And then, when I do that, particularly these Orthodox Roman Catholics, they get upset. And um They say well we don't believe in solo scriptura says Okay, you don't have to.
Sola scriptura means scripture alone is the final authority on what is spiritually true. I said, you don't have to believe that, but would you admit that whatever the scripture says, nobody or no councils or traditions or church fathers, nobody can contradict it because they'd be wrong. And they don't like having to answer yes to that because they have to. They have to. And I said, That's the standard.
And that's what I'm saying. You're agreeing with that? They don't want to agree with it because that's solid scriptura. They want something else equal to scripture. And.
when they do that I have ways of of using logic against them, you know, and how do they know these things? But at any rate So, as I'm talking to these guys, it's really interesting. That they would one guy did, not all of them, but one of them. Said, I was teaching satanic doctrine.
Now, what was the satanic doctrine he accused me of teaching? That God is sovereign, that he uh He is the one who is the standard of righteousness, and we're not able to keep it. And that he commands us to do what we can't do because he's the standard of righteousness, not us. But he, and I was going to never get a chance to say it today. I've said it before when this kind of topic has come up.
I said, but he is the one who grants what we cannot do. He's one who does that. And of course, they are so vitriolic and so full of hatred, they wouldn't let me finish, at least today, wouldn't let me finish the. the the whole thing. And why why is that?
Why do you think people are so full of uh I don't know uh Self-righteousness? Pride? Uh humanist philosophy?
Now, I can see it alive and well in Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. Because in those philosophies You can attain salvation through your faith, your baptism, and the sacraments. And the good works that demonstrate to God that you. they want to say worthy. but that you have demonstrated true faith, and therefore you hope to make it.
And to me, that is humanist philosophy because it says the human. along with God's grace. is able to Anchor that position with God through his goodness, his efforts that God commands.
So This reminds me, last night I was having a discussion with Saba. I I do a lot of discussions at night and and uh because I get bored, I don't watch sports, I get uh I get in and talk theology. And oh, now I just lost my train of thought. What was I going to say? Last night of discussion.
And it was on this oh man, I hate when I do that. But anyway, that's what happens. And so as I was just have been discussing this with with people about the idea of God as the ultimate standard. They don't want God as the ultimate standard. They want, I'm getting the impression, so many people want themselves.
As the ultimate standard, but they'll say God's the ultimate standard, but He will not do anything. that violates my free will. He will never ask me to do anything I can't do. When I expose that to being humanist philosophy, man centered, They call me satanic. Really?
Mm-hmm. And you know what was interesting is.
So, while they were saying this about my character and calling me a liar and of Satan. It didn't bother me.
Okay. I don't know why. It just... Like these poor people, they just They're just so full of themselves. And they can't even see it.
And I encounter this frequently. I encounter this kind of hatred for the sovereignty of God, for the majesty of God. I can't help but wonder. If this is one of the signs of the apostasy, it certainly is in the apostate churches of the Catholics, I mean Orthodox. Because they're false churches.
But what about in Protestantism? How much of that is prevalent in Protestantism as well? That's interesting. There's a music we're going to break. If you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 877-207-2276.
We have nobody waiting right now. Why don't you give me a call? I'll be right back. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick.
All Rev and welcome back to the show. I just want to say thank you for those who have been supporting us a little bit more than regularly lately. We really do appreciate it. We really do very much appreciate it. And I just want to let you know that we still do need support.
And. It's turning out we've had a large supporter, and it looks like that is decreasing, which is okay. And So, I'm just going to let people know that we need to stay on the air by your support. Please consider. Supporting us.
All you got to do is go to carm.org forward slash donate, or just carm.org at the top of the page, you'll see the word donate, and you can set it up. We ask ten dollars a month. And if you can do that, that is very helpful. It's what we need. Let's get to Blake from Utah.
Blake, welcome. You're on the air. That's actually Michael. Yeah.
Okay, that's alright.
So what do you got? Quick question for you about what you thought of Charlie Kirk and his new stream. Texas Wall Street. Yeah, I thought he did a good job. I thought I did a great job, and I heard lots of fun stuff.
In fact, I went to the campus where he was assassinated just a few a couple months ago. I was down there holding out literature for. And and signs for uh um A Jehovah's Witness Convention there. But I thought he was wise. I thought he was good.
And the vitriol that was against him was unfounded. A lot of people just didn't like him, but I thought he did a good job.
Okay. Yeah.
Okay. Yeah.
Thank you.
Okay, is that it? Yeah, what's your favorite way to introduce somebody to Christ in evangelism? What's a good Oh, I I always just do law, gospel and cost. I talk about the law, what God requires in his holiness, uh perfection. We fall flat on that.
He says don't lie, we lie, just don't steal, we steal.
So therefore there's a consequence, that's the law. The gospel is the way to get out for the judgment of God. And then the cost is you better know what you're getting into if you're going to become a Christian.
So I do law, gospel, cost. Most people just do law and gospel.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Thank you, Matt.
Okay, God bless. All right, God bless. All right. Hey, if you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 8772-07-2727. 2276.
Let's get on with Jermaine from California. Jermaine, welcome. You're on the air. Hey, Matt, um, I had a question about how people handle funerals and I know, I think I asked a long time ago about burial versus. cremation for some folks, but One thing that struck me is so my wife's a different culture than I am, and in their culture.
they tend to do the preparation of the body themselves. like a lot and For me, I just, if it's a body, I'm like, hey, I don't really want much to do with it. But I I see a lot of them, they they almost like Congregate around, and I have no problem with the way anyone greets, but. is there any biblical precedent for that you know, either way. Yeah.
Um There's okay.
So yes, I'm aware that certain cultures they're more involved themselves with preparing the body. That's fine. There's nothing unbiblical about that.
So uh You know, Abraham mourned Sarah and bought a burial place. Jacob Had a tomb made. There are those who, people who tear their clothing. in the Bible. David did that, tore his clothing and fasted.
And made public lament, public outcry, of sorrow and exhalation and distinct. and still to lament.
So there's different ways of doing that that are described in the Bible. And the American culture, you sit at a, you know, like with my wife's funeral, you know, back in November. Um You know, we just sat there and we had a preacher talk, and people got up and said certain things. I did too. And um You know, it was very somber.
There are cultures that, well, they'll get up and they'll they'll throw themselves across the the funeral casket or whatever it is and wail and fall down. That's how they grieve in different cultures. And it's those are kind of biblical things as well, you know, the lamenting, tearing of clothes.
Sorrow is recorded in the Bible.
So Yeah. Bah I like to just say, just leave it up to them and their culture, and as long as it's not violating scripture in any way. That's what I would say. Yeah, and I haven't seen that just as far as the prep the preparation of the body. They just prefer to do it themselves, and that I see it as a personal thing.
I don't want nothing to do with it for me. But there's no judgment. I just always wondered, and I do there, I know there is a certain segment I have seen of.
some cultures where they actually We'll go dig up the bones. Yeah.
Like after a certain period of time, maybe move that that. And I'm not again, I'm not judging to me, that's just too far out of the realm of what I would like to do. But just more curious about the biblical precedent. Yeah, what you're talking about there is ossuaries. They're called ossuaries, and they're stone boxes.
After a while, they take the bones. and they would put him into uh an ossuary and and he could take the bones with them. as they're honoring the dead.
So Uh in Acts nine uh the believers washed the body of of Tabitha who died.
So they were able to do that. And remember, there's even putting myrrh and aloes and various things on the body, as they did with Jesus.
So, and also they would prepare spices and various things. And so biblically they were very involved with touching the body. and preparing the body.
So it's it's fine. It Not for me. But um No, not for me either. Yeah, not for me. But if someone wanted to do it, okay, all right, that's fine.
I have no problem with it. No problem at all. Yep.
Okay. That that that's good enough for me. Appreciate it as usual. I'll try and hopefully get to touch up on your topic from today sometime during the week, Lord Willis.
Okay. Alright, well God bless brother. God bless. All right. God bless you, man.
Bye-bye.
Okay. All right. So I've had the, I don't want to use the word privilege, but I've had the necessity of several times of doing funerals. particularly for family members. and a few friends.
And Uh I don't like doing funerals. Um Because they're difficult. I mean, I'll do them. That's not a problem. It's just they're not exactly the most pleasant thing to go through and to lead and to facilitate.
because it's a difficult time and you want to be very careful you don't say the wrong thing. And so, what do you do, for example, when you are doing the funeral of someone who is an unbeliever? And this is one of the things I asked a pastor friend of mine when I was young. I said, How do you handle that? And the advice he gave me was good advice.
He says the context there is to preach the gospel if it's all possible. that all who put their hope in Christ will be with the Lord. And generally, he says you don't want to just say this person denied Christ and now is suffering in hell. not appropriate, it might come up and tarn feather you. Because it's just so emotionally sensitive to everything.
And so, what I would do. is uh I would say that to an unbeliever I would say certain things which I'll get to after the break. We'll be right back. Please stay tuned, folks. The bottom of the hour.
Be right back. Please.
So be right back. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 8772-07-2276.
All right, let's talk a little bit about funeral stuff. It's a little depressing topic, but every now and then it needs to be addressed. I know that there's a lot of people out there dealing recently with these issues. I did, you know, my wife passed away in November last year, and We had her cremated. And we had a service where people were there and could say things.
There are different cultures where they bury people differently in different ways. They have different levels of expression that are acceptable and expected even. And I think it's an actual fascinating topic, and the reason I say this is because, and this is all true. This is all true. I had in high school a teacher.
And she was an ex-actress and she made a movie. with the three stooges. And she was the girl in Three Students Meet Hercules, and she became a high school teacher. She was our teacher, and she would tell us about the. The three students, this is all for real.
She taught a class on cultural anthropology, and it was really well done. And one of the interesting topics Was different funeral types and grieving processes of different people throughout the world. I'm not going to get into a bunch of them, but I'm going to tell you, they were really interesting, and I really enjoyed the class. She was a great teacher. and uh all the guys liked her because she was cute.
And, you know, we had a good time. At least I enjoyed learning from her. All right. So that's one thing that I was exposed to early on: different ways different people have of burying.
Some of them. Tie him up in trees. And they buried them that way.
Some people or some cultures they uh they put 'em into the ground up to their waist. And that's a burial.
Some burned them.
Some bury them, some you know, but at sea. you bury him at sea. All these are legitimate. Cremation is legitimate in different ways. All right.
So, are there any things that the Bible says? are um Well Of how they would do things biblically.
So I want to write an article on this. But as I said to Germain in the previous call, that people were involved in the body. In with with the dead, in washing the body and laying them into rooms.
Now think about that. This is in Acts 9.
So they would take a person who had died, cleanse the body, and put the body in a room where people could go visit. Say their goodbyes, whatever they wanted to do. And that's interesting. And I think it's really important. for most people.
to have a ceremony of some sort, That allows them to grieve. And I know that it was helpful for me. with my wife to to officially say goodbye and have others say goodbye. And it's needed. It's just something that we do because it's a trauma.
to lose someone. All right. So uh So, in the Bible, in John 19, Nicodemus brought a lot of myrrh and aloes. and wrapped Jesus in fine linen linen cl uh cloths. with spices around.
Yeah.
In Luke 23, women prepared spices and perfumes for Jesus' body. The women returned to the tomb, bringing more spices. They were going to take care of the body there. Yeah.
Excuse me. When Lazarus came out of the tomb after his resurrection, he was still bound hand and foot in the wrappings.
Now, here's a little question. because in order to do this they have to wrap em tightly, and he would be laying down. How do you get up? Did he have help? Did an angel tilt him up and so he could hop out and walk out?
I don't know. It's just something I, you know, I have no idea, but I always wondered about that.
So uh Then in Genesis 50, Joseph commanded the physicians in his service to embalm his father. This was an Egyptian practice. And so that's recorded in the Bible as something that's part of the history of the people of God. And uh It took 40 days that process to do that. Wow.
And so uh then they put him in a coffin. And let's see, 2 Chronicles 16. Uh King Esau is buried in a resting place prepared with spices and ointments and things like that. and a great fire was made in his honour. You know, I really do think it's interesting.
It's a kind of a, I don't see morbid, it's not a morbid topic, but it's an interesting topic that doesn't get its fair due. Because it's so difficult to talk about sometimes. We've lost people. And what do we do?
Well, you know, when my father passed away, it was a military uh service A firing squad and trumpet, you know, playing taps because he retired from the military. And then a representative of the military folded the flag. and gave me the flag as I'm the eldest son and oh man, that was hard. That was hard. When my mom passed away, um There was just a church service and people got up and spoke.
Like when my wife passed away, did the same thing. And, you know, we all have these different things. And so when you are a participant as a congregation member, as a follower, you know. give you the opportunity to speak, you're you're paying your respects.
Alright, so what do you do? As I said before the break, what do you do when you're doing the service? for an unbeliever. That's a tough one. I've had to do services for unbelievers.
And So my wife's father passed away, and he was an absolute denier of Christ. unless something happened at his last moments, you know He was an open denier of he didn't need Jesus.
So they asked me to do the brothers and my wife. Uh ask me uh the siblings asked me to do the service. I'm like, okay.
So I've got to be very careful. And what I did was, I mentioned the good things that he did. But he was known to be this, that. You know, you interview people and you get good. Good advice and good things, good stories, good anecdotes.
He's always there as a provider, always there to look down on people. I made a joke because he was 6'7, I think. Or six, six. Six, seven. And because I knew the family, you know, part of the family, I could make that quick joke, and that was fine in the context.
Be very, very, very careful. But um Uh You talk about what's good about a person, and you leave it at that, and then give the gospel that they need Jesus. and without really getting too close to them. That that's how I handled it. I haven't done a funeral for a few years.
The last one I did was for a friend who. whose father was was an ICU and This was during COVID, actually, now I remember. and they asked me to go in and be there with them and pray over him. As clergy, when they pull the plug, so to speak, like they did with my wife, they did pull the plug and we. had to be there for that and uh to say our goodbyes at the last minute.
And so, um So I was there, he had to get all all garbled garbed up, garbed, you know, all all the uh the accoutrements, the gloves and the mask, and then we go in there and do that. and then uh had to do the funeral. They are top. And people said it was a good funeral, and they appreciated the kind words. And one of the things I like to say.
At a funeral, Is something I've said for years now, and I wrote a devotional on this. Death is a rude visitor. And it's a devotional on on Carm. and I wrote it after the passing of my mom. Yeah.
You know, She had cancer that took her and renal failure, you know, and just stuff. And uh I spent the night with her sleeping on the floor in the hospice, and then the next day she was gone. And um So I wrote this devotional after that. You know, death is a rude visitor. It's like a bull in a china shop.
It's this massive agony that comes in. And just wreaks havoc in your life and your emotions. your words Um financially property wise, these are the less important things. and what it does to families.
Sometimes families fight over what they can get.
Sometimes families don't.
Sometimes Some family won't meet another person because they have something against it. It just brings to surface all of these kinds of things. One of the things that has always bewildered me, and it honestly does bewilder me, is when someone dies and the siblings or the offspring fight over the possessions. Who gets what?
Okay. I just could never understand that. When my father, my two younger brothers, when my father passed away, he was staying with my middle brother. out in another state. That's just how it worked out.
And so he was taking care of my dad, and then when my dad, our dad, passed. Um he had several thousand dollars that he had saved up. you know some money I told my brother, you keep it. You took care of them. And he said, no, dad wants us to split it up.
That was my attitude. I'm not interested in possessions. I'm interested in looks right and respectful. But too many people are not. We'll be right back after these messages.
Please stay tuned. We'll get to Dave from Pennsylvania after the. A call, give me a call. I'll be right back. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276.
Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, it is easy. Just dial 877-207-2777. 2276.
Let's get on with Dave from Pennsylvania. Dave, welcome. You're on the air. How you doing, sir?
Okay. By God's grace, doing well, talking about a depressing topic, but getting through it, just kind of doing that. doing fine with God's grace. Yes. I I just caught the last couple of minutes.
We're going through it right now. My mother in law is like in hospice care, couple of days left maybe.
So it's um It's cost and Can I say something? Just something I haven't said, but it's something I've learned recently through all of this, and it comes down to something because as I've looked at my wife passing, my parents passing. Uh something uh anyway. People are more important, and that's what I say to myself. They're more important.
Spend time with them now. They're more important. Anyway, You're going through it. Spend time with her. Yeah.
Yeah, we j we just we just left there. Um So, yeah, it's been difficult. And she was. Roman Catholic most of her life and I'm not sure where she's at either. that feeds and tougher, you know, it's a delicate uh So, Yeah, um Yeah.
Yeah, very bad, but Uh you know you know, brother, uh She did say, she said, She told my daughter, and she said, Jesus is coming for me, and my daughter goes, Are you going to go with her? With him? And she goes, Yeah.
So, you know. I I just don't know. I wish I had assurance. Makes it tough, but uh, yeah, you never know what God does. I just put a lot of hope and faith in God's ability.
I just hope that it works, you know, at at the last minute even. Yep.
Yeah.
Yep, yep, absolutely, brother.
So I guess my question is So, the scripture talks about to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Um and that's for the believer, correct, when we die. Correct.
So my question is and I've done a good many of funerals, and people will say things like, um, Yeah, he's you know, he's up there now. He's in his new body. But I see in the scripture, we don't get our new body until the return of Christ. Correct.
That's correct. Yeah.
So, would you say that it's kind of a disembodied? We're present with the Lord. Our s our soul is present, our soul or spirit. Is present with the Lord. but we don't yet have our body until Jesus returns again.
That's correct. The resurrection of the body, the uniting of our spirit, soul, whatever that is, with our physical body, does not occur until Christ. He's the first fruits of the resurrection. And so when we die, we are disembodied and we go be with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:8, which you quoted. And also, 2 Corinthians 4:12, 2 through 4 talks about being out of the body and being with the Lord.
And so. We're going to be made, I don't know how it works, but we're going to be in our physical bodies later on. And that's just that's resurrection. Yeah.
Right, right, in a glorified body, just like Christ is in his glorified body right now. making and and And a lot of people, I think, miss that. That, yeah, Jesus is still, he's a man now. That's correct. Can't do it.
he has to be to be a high priest who makes intercession for us. That's right. Obviously, very good. Good for you. Pretty good stuff.
Yeah.
No, I I I really like to uh I've been, you know, just study and drill down, and I want to be correct when it comes to the scriptures. And that's that's You know, and I teach this in church that, hey, you don't yet have your new body when you die. That's when the return of Christ happens. Good. That's right.
Good for you. Have a spiritual-ish body, but not a physical resurrected body, which will occur at the return of Christ. That's correct. Good for you. What a day that will be.
Oh, man. I'm looking forward to that. Oh, my goodness. Yeah.
Yeah.
People aren't gonna recognize me. They're not gonna recognize me though. And they can recognize me. You know why? You know, that Why?
Because they're not going to recognize me without sin. Yeah, that's what's true. Wherein righteousness dwells. Ah. Yeah.
I I I think about when I think about depth, I just think about how as far as the stupid curse is found and it touches everything sin does and Uh it'll be Yeah, we I I can't even fathom what what what it will be like in in heaven. No send. I just I don't I don't think our minds can, you know, obviously comprehend it, but I agree. Yeah, is Yeah, but I agree. I had a taste of his presence when I was saved.
A taste. And uh it was gloriously Holy. And if it's anything like that in heaven, Then it will just be ecstatically wonderful being in his presence. It will be so fulfilling. Just being.
near him. is itself enough. It's so completely wonderful. And I would never have known that or even believed it if it hadn't been for that encounter, that time of experiencing that incredible holiness and wonder of God. And this is what people say in the Bible when there is presence, you know, it's majestically awesome.
That's what's going to be like with infinite God. For forever. Yeah.
Wow. I I I can't wait and And and you know But the Bible does say that. Um in his presence is fullness of joy. And yeah, it is going to be great. It's just, you know, it's tough.
Yeah.
You talk about loved ones fighting over Over silliness, yeah, it's it's crazy. Um I just don't get it. I died. I I I did a funeral for a I did uh they were members of my church and father or father and mother, and they were in in their eighties, one passed and the next one passed like a year later. And when she died, it it split the family 'cause they couldn't agree on who got what.
And it's Ah Mad. Stupid. In my opinion. I know, you know, I told my dad before he was in his eighties, you know, and And uh we got talking about him passing away. And His assets, because he had retired military and he'd done a few things, and he had a little bit of money.
And I said, Dad, look, it's all yours. You earned it. You do what you want. If you want to put it into a big pile of money. and you want to take it out to the lake, and just burn it all.
I'll help you. It's yours. You do what you want. I'm not interested in benefiting off of his death demise. And that conversation and You know, like I said to my brothers, you take the money.
I don't care. I don't want it. I I've never been impressed with having lots of money. What what's the big deal? If money is what makes you happy, man, you gotta take.
Oh, I just have to. You're idolaters. Man. Yeah.
Yeah, it it it it's sad and that's pretty much what our The major part of our society is, you know, it's money driven and Um, but you can't you can't take it with you and you know, it's all gonna burn, you know. That's right. At the end at the end of the day, it it really boils down to do you know Jesus, doesn't it? That's right. That's right.
'Cause what are you going to take with you? That's what matters. Yeah.
What are you gonna take with you? He owns it all anyway. That's right. Yeah, I'm not interested in. I mean, if someone gave me a million dollars, I'd be, oh, hey, thank you.
That's really nice. I appreciate that. put in a bank and live off the interest a little bit and That's nice. If they say we're not going to give you a million dollars, okay, that's nice. I don't care.
I just not a m it's just whatever. The issue is, I want to serve Christ. Similar treasures up to the That's what I want. I want to serve him. Yeah.
At the end of the day, brother, that's all that really matters. It is. That's right. Your life boils down to: do you know Jesus or don't you? And your eternal destination depends on it.
That's right. Amen, brother. I like what you're saying, and it's so true. We need to be focusing on him. not in what we can get here.
And I assume you're a pastor, right? Are you? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. A reformed guy at a Pentecostal church.
Sounds good. That goes together like Sovereign Grace United Methodist Church, you know. Oh man, that would be interesting to go to. Yeah.
I am. I am. I one hundred percent affirm on that. Eternal security. You know, um The five points.
collection predestination. And Yeah, I don't believe in women pastors. Pentecostals typically do. Yeah, they're all there for that. That's right.
I have a brother and a brother-in-law. They're both assemblies of God pastors, and they just they strongly disagree with me. They hate they hate libertari they hate uh they hate election and predestination. They're libertarian free will. Yeah, it's humanist philosophy.
Yeah, it's humanism. Humanist philosophy. That's what it is. Yep.
That's right. We're independent, so And they installed me.
So I'm just going to preach the word and. And try to teach the Bible correctly. It's all you can do. Try and preach and teach according to Scripture.
So God has you there and praise God that you're there listening to Him and moving forward with the truth and get away from the man-centered theology that so many churches are espousing now. Not bad. Amen, brother. Yeah.
Well, I know we're going to be about out of time, and I'll just let you know I I really appreciate your ministry and use Carm all the time. Tremendous resource, and just appreciate all you do, and just keep doing what you're doing, brother. By God's grace, that's all.
So thanks, appreciate it. Amen. Praying for you. Yeah, I certainly need it. I certainly need it.
And I do appreciate that. Normally, I wouldn't really focus on that, but because of what I do and the heavy demonic attack and various things, I definitely need that. Plus, I'll be 70 pretty soon. And so that's a big milestone. And most people, their mental, physical abilities just really decrease quite a bit.
And God's been very gracious to let me still have a lot of that. And I want to use what I have left for His glory. That's it for his man. Amen, amen. you're still sharp as a tack, I can tell you that.
So Well Yeah, my my wife would have some would have had some things to say about my ability. But yeah. She she has some interesting opinions of me.
