Hey everybody, welcome to this show. It's me, Matt Slick. Handless the Match Look Live. Today's date is... October 24th, 2025, and tomorrow is the 30-year anniversary of the CARM website, CARM.org, C-A-R-M.
Dot O R G And I've been working on the site for a long time. Written about 5,000 articles. A lot of them are just not even published yet. I've got a lot of those. And let's see how many.
Let's see, we have uh rough yeah, a hundred and sixty seven point eight million visitors to the site, two hundred sixty two million page views with returning uh visitor rate of about of ninety five million. That means uh a lot of people have been to the site, a lot of people, and hopefully, what we're going to have here in a little bit is um Two of the guys who've worked on the website for a better part of a year, and we're getting it released tomorrow. They're going to call in and we're going to talk to them.
So, we're going to get to them first. And I know Jermaine is holding on. Jermaine, I hope you're listening, buddy.
So, it may be a while before I get to you. And if you guys want, you want to ask about the new site, which is released tonight at midnight, my time.
So maybe one minute after, so we can say officially it was released on the 30-year anniversary. We've got the designer. Pete Online and the new site's going to be Pretty cool. And we're going to have him fill us in on all kinds of stuff.
So let's just get on with Peter. Hey Peter Man, welcome buddy. You're on the air, buddy. Hey Matt, excited to be here. Thanks for inviting me.
Hey knows what?
Alright, so everybody, this is Peter, and he's a I guess you're more of a nerd than I am, kind of. I mean, it's pretty Because I'm nerded. My wife definitely calls me a nerd. She calls me a, what was it, a gird? Geeky nerd, and uh, you know, so but she's married to me.
That is a whole new one. I haven't heard of GERD before, so yeah, yeah, it's. It's, yeah, she goes, yeah, you're a nerd. You're definitely a nerd. You know, my spare time I spend either doing theology or watching science documentaries and things like that and annoying people.
So anyway, Peter, and then we got Josh. Oh, here's Josh, too. Let's get Josh on the line. We can do both of that. Josh Peter.
Hey, Josh, are you there, big guy?
Okay, let's see what's going on. Hey, is this uh our bell radio show? Ha ha ha ha ha. Thanks a lot.
Okay, everybody.
So this is Josh. He's the designer, and Pete is the kind of. Builder, I guess you could say, why don't you guys start with Pete? Introduce yourself, and let's then we'll do Josh, and we'll talk about the new site. Go ahead and peep.
Well, thanks, Matt. My name is Peter Hannon. I'm from Idaho, and the most important thing to know about me is I'm a follower of Jesus Christ.
So the um the opportunity to uh to work uh on things that uh bring him glory or is always a blessing to me. And some of the skills he's given me are both A big mouth.
So I'm good at evangelism, as you know. And he's also given me some nerd superpowers, so I'm able to put those to work. Or Yeah, doing things like we're doing with uh Karma So very excited to be able to put those powers to use for the glory of God and Excited to see that come to fruition tonight.
So, also very excited that this is. Just wonderful. providence of God that it's timed exactly on your uh Thirtieth anniversary of Carm. What a What an amazing testimony to your faithful proclamation of God's word and faithful teaching and It's been a real honor to be able to assist and bringing this to the next step of technology And continue your Um efforts. to put Cutting and actually technically bleeding edge technology to use for the glory of God and for the edification of the saints.
Amen. You know, we're going to talk to Josh here in a sec, but I've known Josh longer than I've known you, and I remember he was introducing you to me. And the thing, I don't know if I've told you this before, the thing that convinced me that you are awesome, you are good, was all the resume stuff was good, but it was when you told me that you do online gaming stuff for the purpose of witnessing an evangelism. And I remember that. I remember that.
I went, yes. That was awesome. Missionary Gamer. We started that about... Golly, I think it's six years ago now.
I came to Christ while I was in Montana and I was in a small town of two hundred fifty six people. and uh ran out of people to evangelize.
So I started wondering, hey, I wonder if you could. connect with people through video games and share the gospel with them? And the answer is yes, we can.
So it's been a great blessing to be able to redeem that largely useless technology for the proclamation of the good news to people all over the world. Yeah, I ain't to that. Yeah, I remember that. I remember that's what our in fact it's weird. That's what I remember the most.
Was that going? Yeah, that's right. That's what I want to like. Remember the gospel. If you want to.
Want to put any infets at all? That is the thing that I'm Most thankful to be able to bring focus on. Amen, brother. Amen. And we also have Josh.
And excited too, because Josh is on our min board of board of directors for Missionary Gamer as well. Oh, I didn't know that. That's cool. And you guys are living in each other.
So, Josh, why don't you introduce yourself? Sure. My name is Josh Comstock. I've been living in North Idaho now for. almost fifteen years.
Um I've been doing uh web design IT work. Uh for close to twenty. Um I've known Peter now for My goodness, Peter, you've been going to Kootenai now for what, almost ten years, I think. Or eight, maybe. Um And uh I um He's right.
I do sit on his board missionary gamer, and that was one of the things, you know, Matt, in the very beginning when I was talking to you. Um I kn I knew Peter was passionate about two things. The gospel first and foremost. He's already said he's got a big mouth for the Lord, and he does. There's not a stranger he meets that.
Um That doesn't hear the gospel at some point, right? And then he was also a techno wizard. And there's many times where he'll talk to me, and I just gloss over because it's things I don't even understand, but I try to follow the best I can. I can keep up with technology and things of that nature pretty well, but he's way above my head most of the time.
So I knew that when he was telling me that some of these things that we have implemented with Carm. Uh Awesome. Not cutting-edge technology, but bleeding-edge technology because it was so brand new that literally nobody was doing it yet. It was that. That new to the space.
You know, I thought, Okay, well I guess Peter will We'll give this a shot. He had approached me about this method with, and we'll get into it by here in a little bit. Um Cloudflare a couple of months prior to Carm, that project. And I was just like, you know what, Peter, I don't know, man. It's above my head.
I'm not familiar with it. I'm not comfortable with it. I just don't know. And he kept telling me, Josh, this is where it's headed. I'm your guy.
I can do this. This is what we need to focus on. And then when this project came up. I thought, well, what a better project, what better project to cut your teeth on? uh than this one because uh of how big it is and just how uh The content is that that we're trying to work with.
I Matt, I told you a couple of weeks ago that I was out of the country on a mission trip in the South Pacific, and there was a gentleman there who heard your name and his face looked. Yeah. And he's like, oh my goodness, my dad told me all about Matt Slick and Karm. you know, several years ago, they were like the special forces of of Christian because of what they do and how you know these apologists that defend the Yeah. Um And it was just reminding me once again that you and your ministry that the Lord has has given you has had very far reaching effects.
across the globe over the last three decades. And so Congratulations to you, to your faithfulness. to all that you've done. uh for the Lord and his kingdom and for th uh with this ministry. And I would say give you another 30 years, but we both know you'll probably be dead.
That's okay. Yeah, my mom was 69, so 30 would be 99. But we live long in our family. My dad's mom was in her 90s. And so, you know, I exercise.
Hopefully, you never know. I want to live as long as possible to serve him.
Now, I want to give a shout-out. I don't know if Rod's listening. I'll just say his first name. But Rod is the guy who funded the new build because it was quite an endeavor and took many months. But Rod, if you're listening, brother.
Wow, thank you. And gets to share the glory of the work for the kingdom of God in that, as we all do, and all working together.
So uh Pete, um Why don't you just kind of tell us, you know, what's what's So good. About the new Carm site that's going to be released tomorrow. What's so good about it?
So I think um We've talked about how much you like alliterations.
So search. Speed. And security.
So number one is the new search. That is when we when we originally talked At the beginning of this There was the reality is that there's so much amazingly good content. on Carm. And the difficulty is getting access to it because it is so rich and it is so deep. that it was really um A problem.
To be able to mine that content in a productive way through the the inbuilt inbuilt search that was there. And most people would end up going to Google. And even I remember we found some places where you had embedded. Uh Google type interaction into the actual articles themselves. because of the searches issues.
And that um was was a real difficulty now. And it has gotten even worse since we originally started. Because now if somebody goes to Google to search your site, They're not even getting exposed to your site because the AI is just answering with all the content that it has mined from your site. And so at the end of the day, they get a little summary But they really don't get the depth and the value and the breadth of uh the the amount of um you know, solid theological teaching. That is in Carm.
And so bringing and bubbling that to the surface in a way that is Uh easy. For users, it's intuitive, it's what they're used to. I want to find something out about the Trinity, or what is the gospel or how to what is this specific heresy of you know, Gnosticism or something like that. They need to be able to go to the site, type that in, and get good, solid Uh um Relevant uh responses that are going to drive them to that content in a way that really facilitates getting the answers as quickly as possible.
So the search is number one. And I really am excited about the technology that was implemented for that because it's It's technically speaking technology that wasn't available to you know, the size of sites that we have, you you had to be a Google. Or um you know, some of the other big search engines out there. to be able to have what's called a vector database search. And so the short story is it uses math and numbers and all kinds of different cosines and stuff like that to be able to.
search through content and how it's related to each other and stuff like that. And so Th that was a very complicated and very expensive thing. to set up before. And now that's been brought down to a very direct implementation that is available to us through a product or through an architecture called Cloudflare. which 20% of the Internet actually runs over Cloudflare servers.
And so we now run on that infrastructure, and we now have that search that has your six thousand plus articles indexed and ready to be found with a couple of key presses. And and be relevant, be accurate, be Be tied to that question in a way that they really didn't have an opportunity to do before without, like I said, going to an external. I'm gonna search. Can you say we got a break coming up? Yep, there's the music and we're going to just take a break.
We'll be right back after these messages, ladies and gentlemen. Please stay tuned. We're on with Pete and Josh. The developers of the Karm website, which will be released tomorrow, so please stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276.
Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show. We're on with Peter and Josh. And this is an example of multitasking. I asked.
Uh producer. About the collars hearing the music. He didn't understand what the issue was there. No big deal, so I'll maybe have to just jump in and interrupt him a little bit when the next music starts for the next break. And also, Josh.
And Pete and I are in Signal discussing the site during the break.
So I'm a multitasker. I really do multitask a lot. And sometimes, even when I'm answering theological questions, I'm writing something else in another room simultaneously. Believe it or not, I can do that. I learned how to do that.
And that's why the words that I write sound like this: Hushmachi. And see, that's what it is usually.
Okay, let's get back on with you guys. You guys still there? Wait a minute. I didn't realize. Are you speaking in tongues now?
Is that what this channel is?
Well, I do believe in speaking in tongues, but only when I stub my toe, apparently. No, I was just saying how I try and do two things at once. And, you know, I'm getting pretty good at both of them. No, I know. I was trying to make a joke.
I I know, I got it, that's all right.
So, anyway, I was saying how we were texting in our signal group chat thing about working up at the last minute on the site.
So uh So, Pete, you said, you know, I do like alliteration, and I do. And you said search, speed, and security. And I added in simplicity. Because that's one of the new features of the market. That is where Josh's amazing design Really came to fruition on that.
So I'll defer to him to kind of lay in some of the ideas. That um Shape the the design of the site. Yeah, amen. Go ahead, Josh.
Well, Matt, if you remember several well, my goodness, it's been several months ago now, we were having this discussion with the current Parm.org site I mean, that has had, for lack of a better word, quite the evolution in itself over the last thirty years, right? We went to the Wayback Machine and saw the original concept that you had way back when Um and then where it was on Joomla Yes, it was. It was very good. You you were ahead of the time. Yes.
Knowing what to Joomla and then from Joomla we went to WordPress and And all these different Uh I guess you could say seasons of the site that it has gone through and how much it's grown over the years. And one of the things that we were discussing was: you know, what do people come to carm.org for? What is the purpose? It's not too send you an email. All of that does happen.
It's not too much to do. Find your social media links, which are I'm sure it happens as well. It's not to just Um look at your speaking schedule. What people go to Carm.org because they're looking to find information. They have a question they want an answer to.
And that is the what has been utilized um so beautifully in this in this new design is that We wanted to keep it simple. keep it clean. You know, Apple is, I'm an Apple fanboy, there's no secret to that. You guys are not, and that's okay. I'm happy to be the lone wolf here.
But One of the things that Apple prides themselves in is j a clean look. And that is something that we were wanting to try to accomplish with Carm is strip back all the noise and have a clean Lean fighting machine, where with what Peter has done on the search. side of things by creating a vectorized search Um We're not going to have search issues anymore. We're not going to have problems with people having, you know, not being able to look or. what they're looking for on the website.
and have to go to Google to find it. Matt, you've had that. problem for a very long time and we've had discussions about it many times and I Showed you a preview of the vectorized search. you couldn't believe what you were looking at. Fewer elated as How fast it was, how accurate it was.
And and all the good information that's there and none of the bad information as far as what people are looking for. And so the search is the first thing you're going to see. It's front and center of the home page. As soon as you go to the new homepage, that's the first thing you're going to see. and right away, whether it's a page that was written 20 years ago, or an article that was just released, you're going to be able to find anything you're looking for.
fairly quickly. without any of the without any of the distraction.
So that was the main purpose for us. we were putting this together. was trying to find A happy medium where technology meets functionality in all at the same time being clean. And officials.
So that's, I believe, what we've been able to accomplish. Yeah, I I remember Uh talking about this with you very clearly and um Um Making the conscious decision to defer to your expertise on design. Simplicity because I'm a theologian, apologist, I'm not a designer, and you are. And I remember that. I remember that just saying, okay, I'm just going to trust what you say.
And you came up with this design. And yes, it's extremely simple. There's a one, two, three, four, five, six, might be seventh words at the top. And then welcome to time. We call that a menu.
I know that's probably not what you're used to because the old menu has an entire Collection of links on there. But you're right, the menu on the new Carm site. has six items on it. And for those that are familiar with Carm.org, you're probably scratching your head going, How in the world did that work?
Well, tomorrow you'll find out. That's right. And we do have the old menu on there. but it's not central. It's not visible.
You have to click on on it and you go through it and you can use it. Because people have said it, and I want it also, but it's not the main thing. The main thing is the search engine, which Which, uh, hey Pete, didn't you say something about having to put a slowdown feature in the search because it was so fast? Remember that? Yeah, I actually ended up removing that because.
again, that second option of we want the search and then we want it to be the speed. And over the course of the iteration now for this is I think we're at nine months. if I remember correctly, in our totality of effort here. As we went along, it was something that it was it was pretty pretty fast, and I added in something that kind of like allows stuff to Animate in a way that when you did it, you understood that it was changing really fast, but. Kind of had a nice effect to it.
Well, then it got. even faster and that effect ended up looking like a bug. And so we ended up removing it and just It just allows users to realize that the content, when you search, it's almost instantaneous. Yeah, yeah. That's happened.
As fast as you can hit the enter key. And you have the opportunity to then the top 10. That are most relevant, and then you select them, and you can search again, and you can qualify your search and refine it. And that ability has really Accentuated the value of speed because if you're not waiting for the page to respond, then you're able to sort of peruse the site and browse through the content. or in a much more rapid way.
And also then with the CookieCom feature we have in there. You can see where you've been. and and it shows you your progress and how much you've read other pages and stuff. And so that was That was a way for us to then bring some visibility into your progress. Through that content.
And so the search, the speed and then the security Being Very important for when I say security, obviously the site has to be secure from it. hacking and things of that nature. but also using phone interaction. Yeah, we want to get back and talk about it. We've got a break coming in with the music.
You guys can't hear it, but that's okay. And so we'll get back and there's a lot of issues I'm going to talk about, like keeping up with the new tech as it was happening and We haven't explained the AI scraping and Carm's trust factor stuff. I'll let some other stuff. We'll be right back, folks, after these messages, please. Stay tuned.
It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. Alright everyone, welcome back to the show. Just want to remind you guys that tomorrow night, now tomorrow is the 30th anniversary of Carm. It'll be 30 years old and 25th.
We're going to release the new site after midnight tonight. And uh We're going to have a, well, simply on EVMux, which is a video thing. It's like Zoom. We can call in. And we're going to have it at 7 p.m.
on Eastern Time. In order for you to participate, if you want, you'll have to go to the new site. And you'll see in the bottom, you'll see the articles that have been written. And the last one up there, probably the last one up there, will be what's new at the new Carm site. And in that article will be the new URL or the URL you can come in to participate.
So we'll be providing that tomorrow. Just want to let you guys know that.
Alright you guys, you there? Buddy's still there? Pete, we are Okay, good.
So, uh I'm out. He got raptured.
So So uh Well, I post trips so it works out for me. Mm-hmm. Yeah, this is pretty good.
So uh a lot of people are asking about uh The Media, okay, something like that. All right.
So, just read a lot of stuff.
So, we, before the break, we're talking about the issue of the search, search features. And one of the things I love about it is. is you don't get any of those Google wacko ads or anything. It's better, faster, cleaner and more sanctified. That's I love that.
Now that's what I do to you, Pete. Yeah. No, actually it's not. It's because of your content, Matt. I mean, that's That's one of the things that I'm grateful for with my own ministry that I've seen as well, is when you look back.
on your ministry when you're standing firmly on the Word of God, You're you're blessed. uh with the reality that what you said you know, five years ago is still applicable today because it's not about your wisdom. It's not about your understanding, it's about God's Word. And when you firmly plant your feet on his word, then you can be confident that Your uh you're you know statements and the things that you've proclaimed. value in the future and that's the reality of Carm.
Yeah. On the Word of God. And so that. that breadth and depth of thirty years of faithful content is now just being surfaced Uh to that search. It's not a technology.
Reality, it's a word of God reality and a faithfulness to His Word that's just. being you know displayed in that search results.
So I think that's just a testimony to what happens when you You know, you stand firm on good theology and good understanding of the word of God and just Knowing that when we do that, we can have confidence that. We will look back 30 years, 100 years, or even from eternity. and be thankful for how we Yeah. claimed his word and were faithful to him. And I'm I'm thankful that my own ministry as well.
And just being an evangelist, but more so with the breadth of content you have. It's evident that you've uh you've done your homework Matt. That's awesome to to see that and work with that that level of breadth and depth.
Well, praise God, he gets the glory, that's for sure, using broken vessels. Before we get to the next comment or question, I want to just say thanks to Cody Robbins for your $10 rant, your support in Rumble. Really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
We really do appreciate that. All right.
Could one of you guys deal with the issue of. AI scraping and related to the Carm trust factor. What do you think? Peter, that's you, brother.
Something you wanted me to dig in?
Okay.
So we were talking about those three S's.
So search, space. speed and security. And we were talking about the site obviously has to be secure from hackers, but even more so in this day and age, and as we know your information has to be secure, your identity your interaction with things needs to be in a way that secures you as a viewer, but also the Security of your content, Matt, that you've been putting out there not being misused. by uh you know Yeah. taking advantage the faithfulness and providing a lot of this content for years for free.
And the AI scraping that has been going on now for quite some time is a real problem. And it's really short changing a lot of the hard work that people have done because it doesn't drive Any um any real value back to the site. As we were talking about earlier, somebody goes to Google today, and types in, you know, what is it about the Trinity or explain the Trinity to me. Its response is being derived from the content it scraped from your site and other faithful theologians and with no credit being brought back to you. And so protecting your content from AIs, and also still, though.
Having, as we talked about, you know, the ability to be Influencing those AIs is a real balance. And so part of that security is twofold. One, protect your content, But there's also the security to protect the user identity. And yet, still providing customization. And we were talking earlier about that aspect of helping them understand what they've consumed.
And so the site is designed to stop AIs from just scraping the whole thing, but give them enough to understand there's value there. that they can then hopefully route users to. But also as users go through it, there'll be Pleasantly surprised to see that. You're not asking them for their names. They don't need to give you their phone numbers.
There's no two-factor authentication to worry about. It's just instantly. allowing them to enjoy your content and your site. but in a way that also protects your site from AI uh using it in a way that's really just taking an advantage of people who have been faithful like you for years providing this content thinking it's for people to be able to grow in their faith, but then being used by AIs just to grow their share of intellectual property in training these bots. Yeah.
you know, to influence the whole world now in a way that, you know, sometimes is helpful, but there's there's a lot coming out to um to that not necessarily being helpful to the to the kingdom of God. Yes. And so I've told people before what AI scraping is. They go through the websites, they glean all the information. You ask AI a question, it just gives you an answer.
And so it's bypassing the websites. And from what I understand, you did something What a vague word. He did something.
So that happens but doesn't happen. Or some level of it, right? Does that make sense? Yes. So what happens is when a when a person comes to the page And they can hit the main page, no problem.
They can do a search, no problem.
So when they end up clicking on a piece of content, what will happen is it's the very first time they've come to the site. as they're reading the first little bit of the content, it will authenticate them as being an actual person. Through something called Turnstile, which is a Cloudflare component. And you've probably already seen this on many pages that you're going to. Where They'll A lot of them do it kind of heavy-handedly.
Before you even get to the site, they'll hit you with something that says, click here to prove you're a human, or Maybe you've even seen the ones that say, you know, click if the number of stop signs or click on the number of turn traffic lights or motorcycles and stuff.
Well the problem is those ones, by the way, those are actually being used to train AI. Uh which just bothers me incredibly. Thanks, Google. One's where it's just a checkbox. Yeah.
Josh says, thanks, Google. Thanks, Google. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
So, the one that we have, though, doesn't do that ahead of time. It does it when you start reading the content. And a lot of times, the way Cloudflare has done it is really. Pretty advanced. It can actually tell you real by how you're interacting with the site.
So oftentimes it'll auto-check the box. And you won't even realize it happened. And it will just show You, the rest of the page, you don't have to refresh. It's a very smooth and fluid experience. And if you do have to check the box, It's very fast and obviously we'll include the rest of the content.
And that's the only time it'll do it. It'll be good for, I think, thirty days. Uh until it expires. The majority of the users won't even realize it's happening. But if you're a bot, That stops you right there.
So they'll get some of the content. with the clear indication that, hey, you know, if you want the rest of it, send the users this way so they can get the the value that's incurm. and stop uh stop stealing all our data. Yeah. Now, one of the things I just thought about is you guys, you know, you've been with.
You know, Josh has been with me years, and Pete less than a year, but you know, we're all friends now. And I want to just promote you. We'll know each other for eternity. That's right. Amen.
Maybe I'll drive on up there sometime and we can hang out and smoke cigars and talk smack about somebody.
So that's how can people get a hold of you guys? You know, because Josh, you do web design, and Pete, you're the guts and the tech behind web design.
So, they want to get a hold of you. How do you get it? I'll defer to Josh on that one.
Okay.
Yes, well, Peter and I are definitely in cahoots together now. I mean, I can't he can't get rid of me and I can't get rid of him. That's just kind of the deal we made. But no, joking aside, The best way is to go to my website, which is web.peaceharbor.com. web.peaceharbor.com and that's P E A C E H-A-R-B-O-R, just like it sounds The web.peaceharbor.com is The site that um that I send clients to that are interested in Web design, and you can get a quote there.
You can find other clients that we've worked with. And that's how Peter and I would be contacted for any new projects. You know, I know that both of you guys, and this goes without saying, but both of you are dedicated Christians, and you don't compromise in using your tech. for ungodly reasons, ungodly purposes out there supporting ungodly stuff, right? Correct.
Yes, you know, that's something that Peter and I both have are very passionate about. I've known him, like I said, at the beginning of this program. With his ministry, Missionary Gamer, and what he has done with that. you know, a lot of people will say uh that they're Uh missionary gamers Uh but Peter actually is. I've hold them in action.
You got a break coming up. Go for it. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show.
Now, we've got Laura calling in. We're going to get to her in a minute. Just want Josh to finish up on his comments, so we'll get to her. Laura works with us, and I'll intro her too. Josh.
Where were we before the break? Um Google. You there? Hello? Uh oh.
We lose them. What the Okay, Josh, if you're there. Peter, you're there.
Okay, Josh.
Okay, I'm there. Hey, nobody's gonna be able to do it. I was just saying before the break that I've known Peter for Several years and he is definitely gospel centered, gospel focused. He cares about the lost, and he's a techie. And he wants to help ministries any way he can.
So, whether you're a church, Nonprofit organization, ministry, anything like that, that's his fashion is to help ministries. with giving the gospel to the lost and and any way he can help.
So And both of us feel the same way. there's lots of churches out there that can't afford a whole lot, but they're they need something. And we're working on a program now to be able to do some of those things.
So Um but With what with what we have and what Peter's technology is able to do. Um we're excited to see where the Lord leads and what ministries we're able to help. All right.
Well, thanks. I appreciate that. And that reminds me of some of the other stuff we were talking about. About other ministries using that tech and stuff like that, but we can get to that. Laura.
Well let's see, get Laura. You on the air? Are you there, Laura? Oh, goodness. Yes, I am.
All right.
Now, everybody, Laura works with us also. How long have you been with the car? About five years now? Give or take? It was five years in June or July.
Okay.
And she was persistent and wanted to help, and she. Is a real asset on Carm. And I can give her things to do, and she takes care of it, does a good job. She had a lot of good suggestions about the site. And so, Laura, what do you think about the new build?
What's your opinion of it? Oh my gosh. You know, honestly, at first it was freaking me out because, you know, you get so used to to the same all and And there's a there's some good features on the old site. But how Peter has designed this new site is stinking amazing. And fast you know, I would have to 'Cause our search engine on the current side didn't work very well, and so I'd have to Google search, and I hate that.
And Uh Peter has made it, so it's just like Instant, it's just amazing how fast you can search and get lots of information as well as keeping track of what you've read, if you haven't read it all, I mean there's so many amazing, amazing things on this new site. Peter has just blown my mind. Yeah, and he's training us how to use it. The new one Better. We have ingrained habits.
One of mine is publishing over and over the same thing, and Pete's going, don't do that. Yes. He says, do it this way.
So we got a couple of new things to learn. But overall, man, it. It's definitely better. He's done a great job. Both of them have done a great job.
I love the simplicity of the new site. It's so simple. Yeah, it truly is. And you know, and Josh, you know, I've worked with him for five years now, and Josh is amazing as well. All the prettiness that y'all see when the site's released.
That is Josh's handiwork, as he's made it look You know, it's simple. There's Yeah, I don't know if you go to other sites and and And it's just a a simple layout, and that's how this one is made. It's not so Um I don't know what word to use, gaudy, just so much, you're just What do I do? What do I do? Oh, this is simple.
You just go in, you search, you find. immediately what you're looking for. And that's been amazing. To see I I I I'm still blown away. I'm still blown away.
Yeah, it gives ten results. I think it's important to spread Around the praise here because Matt, you know, the Faithfulness for 30 years. And then Laura and Charlie and so many others who are supporting the The carm, um Ministry have all been very influential in this new design and its feature sets. In fact, I can specifically attribute many features in the new site. them coming in at the 11th hour.
But many of them have been Um you know, driven by uh publishing over and over. But that that really showed the fact that we needed to modify it So it matched your workflow. Yeah. One of the the guiding principles that I've had for, you know, three decades now was Let's make computers work for people. Rather than people working for computers, and that's one of the things.
We want to really bring forth not just in people using the site, but you guys using and providing more content to the site. And Man, your feedback and patience and understanding and Willingness to go down this road with us has been a just a Blessing, and the result is a culmination of everybody's work here, not in any way, shape, or form, any of us singularly. I totally agree. You know, Charlie, if you want to call in too and jump in, we're going to have some people. Oh, Ikea is good.
We're going to have people coming in tomorrow as we talk about this some more. You know, the information actually on the news site, the Why Did Carm Develop a News Site? That's the article. It's on the news site. It's on the present site.
Right now, you can check it out. We're going to put the URL into where you can come in and talk and be on video if you want, or whatever it is, tomorrow at 7 p.m. Eastern Time for that. Maybe we'll have some of the missionaries join us as well. We'll see if we can work that out.
But I just want to reiterate what you said. You're right, it's a group effort. And when I started this thing 30 years ago, it was Of annoyance because I got tired of answering the same question to people with this new thing called the internet and different areas of discussions.
So I put this Carm site together, didn't know what else to call it, and just here, here's an answer. You can look here. It wasn't like I have all the answers, it was just people are asking me. And so I started doing that. And as you kind of, you were very gracious about the first.
Man, the first designs I did of the site. looks like a five-year-old with crayons who was ill when he designed it. But it worked. That was generous. Yeah.
Yeah. Thanks a lot, John. I certainly appreciate that. to mute myself because I want to laugh louder. Josh, uh Josh is the web designer.
He makes things look pretty.
So That was generous. It's true. Oh man, I have to mute myself to laugh out loud because that was awesome. Oh, thanks a lot, Josh. I'm glad you got my back.
My watch was two things to uh Yeah, there's two things to highlight with this queue though. One is I really I This out in our team meeting today. But I I cannot properly communicate. after three decades in IT, I've never seen a project. Come on.
this well. This was ten months is no or nine months is no small amount of endeavor. This is a from scratch. uh build. There was literally zero code written.
And we went from nothing to this working and that That did not happen by accident. This is a blessing from the Lord. Through his providence and bringing us together and all of our different skill sets and everything. This is right. you know, so clearly Him blessing this, and I am grateful for that blessing.
I know I was praying a lot. Please, Lord. Made us all come together. And I am, I'm very thankful for that.
So there's a reality that. He definitely needs to be glorified through this, and I think it does do that in what the Carm site does it. It brings visibility to his word and good theology. And the other thing I want to bring up is There's a feedback button. on the new site.
We obviously didn't get everything right right out of the bat. And there's This is a foundation to build on.
So just like Laura and Charlie and you and Josh and we have all given our Our idea is to make this what it is today. This is built to be able to be extended through the ideas that other people have.
So I want to encourage people, please, use that feedback to tell us what you like, what you don't like and what What can be brought to bear to make it more helpful? because this is really just getting started. And that reminds me, we're going to have a newsletter set up too. Long story short, for everybody listening, haven't been getting the Carm newsletter. We're going to a new system, a new way to fix that problem.
Now we have Charlie on right now. Charlie, hey, welcome, Charlie. He's the guy who read me the quote from Joseph Smith back in 1980 that got me started in apologetics. Charlie, welcome. Hey, welcome, welcome, thanks for the welcome.
Listen, I don't I I would like to Ask Peter if he's still with us. to give me the URL to his online resume. He He's got some of him. Highly honed skills. And I don't know if he's too modest to mention it himself, but I've I've looked at it and I have no question now as to why he did such a good job after I watched his resume online.
Yeah, he's good. That was very thoughtful, Charlie. Thank you. Good. Yeah, it's uh GitHub Dot com forward slash Peter Hammond.
Um Okay.
Now, Charlie's been with us for decades. I've known him for decades, and we've been good friends for a long, long, long, long time. And Charlie loves the site too, I know that. But we only have, let's see, we have like three minutes in the show left. Oh.
We've talked before about other ministries using this tech. Pete, you want to talk about that a little bit? I mean, this is Wonderful reality, Matt, of you stepping up and taking sort of the the cutting edge, bleeding edges that we talked about. you're a trailblazer and what has been blazed is reusable. And so now that we did start with zero, But what we have is now a clear architecture and it's repeatable, and this is something that we are very excited to be able to help other ministries with capitalizing on this just unprecedented access to powerful, powerful technology.
in a way that can benefit their ministries in the same way that we've been talking about. for your ministry and more. I mean, we're we're living in a day and age of AI, and it's affecting everything and We can use it. For the glory of God and in in ways that just were not possible before or were just exceedingly cost prohibitive. And now with what Carm's done, you've you've You've hacked away through the jungle.
And now others can follow. Man, a lot of hacking through, a lot of jungle. Man, you know, got we're gonna get a store going too. One of the shirts I want to have is so much heresy, so little time. Because man, it's just horrible.
In fact, I just went through and moved some of the Karma articles off the present site and stored them on my drive for articles that aren't even released yet. And I've got another set of articles I haven't even gotten to that I've only half completed. There's just so much to do. And in light of that, we're going to be getting new writers to help out. And we'll talk about that tomorrow with the new Shindig release.
Okay, we got uh less than a minute in the show. Hey, look. I just want to say, Pete, thanks for all your hard work, your dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ. I really appreciate it. And I love having the confidence in you because you love the Lord.
And the same thing with you, Josh. Want to thank you. for your friendship, your work over the years, your dedication to Christ, dedication to the ministry. Really appreciate it. Laura, you've been great.
You've helped us so much over the years. You've been a great input. And forget Charlie, he doesn't know anything. No act correction.
So Charlie's. Yeah. Charlie's been great. He puts up with a lot of my pilakia. It's Hawaiian for the word big trouble.
And he's been a great asset as well. I provide the pretty face. Yeah that's true. That's true.
So, folks, look, we're out of time. There's 10 seconds before the music. And look to the new site tomorrow for the article why we have a new site, and it'll have the URL. for the online meeting. That's tomorrow at 7 p.m.
and Eastern time that is. We hope to hear from you.
So God bless everybody. May the Lord bless you. And of course. By His grace, back on the air on Monday asking your or answering your questions.
So have a great weekend, everyone. God bless. Another program powered by the Truth Network.
