The following program is recorded content created by The Truth Network. It's Matt Slick Live! Matt is the founder and president of the Christian Apologetics Research Ministry, found online at karm.org. When you have questions about Bible doctrines, turn to Matt Slick Live for answers. Taking your calls and responding to your questions at 877-207-2276.

Here's Matt Slick. Everybody, welcome to the show. It's me, Matt Slick, and there we go. You're listening to Matt Slick Live. If you want to give me a call, all you've got to do is dial 877-207-2276.

It's live. I wasn't live yesterday because I was driving back from Utah, and I had a good time down there, and my back is out.

So if you hear me wince, my back is out. It happens once every two or three years, and man, I tell the driving, sleeping in different beds, all that kind of stuff, plus getting older. And ooh, I'm using a cane right now. But that's okay, you know, that's all right.

So there you go. If you want to give me a call, it is easy. All you have to do is dial 877-207-2276. and you can also email me info at carm.org info at carm.org and put the subject line radio comment or radio question and we can get to you. It's easy.

No problem at all.

Okay. All right. All right. That's good stuff. All right.

Why don't we just jump on the phone to get to Alex? I wonder who this is from Florida. Hey, Alex. Hey, my favorite brother. Hey, man, how's the little one doing?

Little one's doing good, man. She's doing good. Yeah, that's good. I love babies, so, you know, good stuff. Hold on one second.

I'm in, like, a bad spot. Let me get to a better connection here. Can you hear me? Yeah, I can. Is it a spiritually bad spot or what?

It's just kind of, like, choppy here.

Okay. Is that better? No, you sound fine, actually. You do sound fine.

So what do you got? Yeah, so, yeah, I was calling in because I wanted to, well, I had a question, but then I was talking to you last week about I'm leaving for Asia tomorrow, so I wanted to. That's right. Is it cool if I still tell people about the trip and pray for me and everything? Absolutely.

Absolutely. That's right. Okay, so, yeah, I'm heading to Asia. I'm going to, I run a ministry called Vessels for Christ that we do preaching and teaching. We support pastors overseas.

And I'm heading tomorrow for about a little less than a month.

So it's going to be a long trip, but we're going to Japan for a week. Then I'm going to Thailand. And then the last two countries I'm going to are a little risky.

So I'm not going to mention them over the air.

Okay. but I'm going to be going to two other countries on the end of that trip. And we're going to be meeting with believers, encouraging them, doing gospel messages, meeting with pastors, some local churches. I'm going to be preaching on the church, do some evangelistic outreach, training on evangelism, and helping out in some of the villages there, assisting with food and medicine to get people in to hear the gospel and stuff.

So we're going to be doing a lot of different things.

So I'd appreciate the listeners be praying for the trip. I'm basically going around the world, and then I'm also going to be gone from the family.

So I really appreciate the listeners' prayers for that, and that there will be fruit, and that people will be converted, and pastors will be encouraged. Because, you know, in the U.S., we have a lot of brothers to fellowship with, But some of these countries I go, it's very small. In Japan, I could talk about that. It's 0.02% Protestant.

So there's 126 million people in that country, and there's only 250,000 Christians. Right. Yeah, in the 1600s, they killed a large percentage of the population who are Christians. Yep. Yeah.

Yeah, they did that. Yeah. So I'm actually going to visit a church out there, and the brothers there are very encouraged that I'm coming out there. And, yeah, the gospel just needs to go out there. And, you know, laborers are few, and we need to encourage our brothers and sisters overseas.

I mean, we have so much here, but they're just trying to survive in some of the areas I'm going to. And what's the ministry name that you do? What's the website? Yeah, so the ministry, it's called Vessels for Christ. The website is vesselsforchrist.org.

We're about halfway fundraised for this trip so far, so if anyone would like to donate, they can donate through the website there. I know ministries are hurting right now. The economy is bad, but, I mean, we cover your prayers more than anything else. But if anyone would want to help out, and we're bringing over—actually, I'm bringing over some Christian books, some teaching materials, And one of the countries I'm going to, I won't mention the name, they're going to start doing a little preschool outreach for the parents. It's mostly Buddhists over there.

So I'm bringing over some Christian curriculum for them to teach from.

So the kids come in, learn about Christ, learn English, learn basic education with math and science. And it's got a Christian focus.

So the kids learn and then the kids tell the parents. And then we've actually seen fruit from that, and families have gotten converted through that. Good. We've known each other, what, three, four, five years, something like that? You've done this several times.

Yeah, something like that. Yeah, and you've just done a lot of mission work. You do a lot of good stuff. You go out there and preach and teach. I always thought it was a good idea, and I'm glad you're doing it, not me, because I'm too chicken.

You can barely walk right now. Yeah, that's true. How did you know that? Because of my back? How'd you do that?

My back's out. That's right. Electroly said that. Yeah. Yeah, you said that.

Yeah, I forgot. Yeah. Well, you know, that's what it is. I hope it'll get better. You get older, you get slower.

But good. Yeah, it's true. I was thinking about that. You know, I'm young right now. I mean, it's the first time away from the little one and the family in the last couple of years.

But, you know, might as well take the opportunity while I'm young. And, you know, once you get up there, it's like, you know, you look back and you go, man, I could have done this. I could have done that. It's like, might as well go, even despite the risk and there's a cost. And it's not 100 percent safe where I go, some of those places.

So, you know, I just pray that the Lord will protect me while I'm over there.

So, yeah, I I'm glad that you're doing it. In fact, I was with Eric Johnson from Mormonism Research Ministry. him and Bill McKeever, I saw them this weekend, and Eric was telling us about Joel Kramer.

Now, he's a world-class archaeologist. He knows his stuff. He's going to be on our trip when I go to Jordan in about a few weeks. Anyway, Eric was telling us, maybe if Eric's listening, call up and tell us a story. But Joel was literally at one point captured by cannibals with a bow and arrow pointing at his heart, and they were just getting ready to release it, to kill him, to eat him.

Wow. And then someone said don't, and there was a connection with past Christianity. I mean, right there. Right. Sometimes, you know, sometimes it's what it is.

It's dangerous. We're not guaranteed an easy life.

So it's what it is sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, you're so tall. Yeah, it's true.

I'm sure that a lot of people in these Asian countries really kind of stare at you a lot, right? Oh, yeah. I could tell you a story. Yeah, in some of those countries, I mean, I just feel the eyes on me, and then I look back and I just see them laughing. And how tall are you?

Like 6'7 or something? 6'5". I'm 6'5". 6'5", okay. 6'5", yeah.

Yeah, so I mean, and even in some of the hotels, like in Japan, the robes don't fit me, the shoes don't fit me. If I lose a pair of shoes, I'm screwed on this trip. Don't. Bring some extras. You know, our accountant loves Japan, and he's like 6'6", and he's like 300 pounds.

And so he says they stare at him. and I know a guy who's set world records with strongman competition. He's like 6'2", and he's just humongously large, not fat. He's just muscle. And he was telling me once he went into some village, I don't know where it was, maybe South America, I don't know.

The kids hadn't seen anybody, any white people kind of a thing, and they didn't believe he was real. They didn't think he was real. It took them an hour before the kids finally would come up and touch him and then see he was real. And then after another couple hours, they're hanging from his arms as he's walking around, you know, and having fun. Oh, yeah.

When I was, I was working, yeah, I was working at a Christian school and I had a picture with the teachers. And I showed it to some people. They're like, oh, those are some nice students you're teaching. I said, no, no, no. The average height's about five feet.

They're just, I just look like a giant next to them. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know what it is. Yeah.

I'm six feet and I feel short around some guys. That's okay.

Well, good, man. Good. And when are you leaving?

So I leave early tomorrow, and then, yeah, I'll be gone. Yeah, I leave early tomorrow, be gone for about a little less than a month, and then I head back. I'll be back the first week in November.

Okay. What was your website again? VesselsforChrist.org, O-R-G, VesselsforChrist.org. All right, man.

Well, good. Good. All right. Well, just hope things go well and we'll put you on a prayer list. We do a calm prayer time on Monday evening.

So, yeah, we'll put you on a list.

Okay. I appreciate it, brother. All right, man.

Well, God bless.

Okay. All right. God bless. Bye.

Okay. Bye.

All right. Hey, if you want to give me a call, all you have to do is dial 877-207-2276. Let's get to Jermaine from California. Jermaine, welcome. You're on the air.

Hey, Matt. I was enjoying that call. Look forward to helping that brother out. We'll be praying for him. Yeah, he needs it.

Yeah, he's told me several stories. He's been around. He really goes out for real into these villages, into these places, and will just kind of embed himself into these things, and he's doing it.

So good for him. Good for him.

Well, that actually has to do a little bit of what I called about Matthew 6, chapter 3, I believe it is, about not letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing Some people take that to different extremes as far as giving like they don want anyone to know anything i was just kind of curious like when it comes to 501 three c tax returns and you know forms at church are are we meant to not let anyone know what we're getting at all like is it is it supposed to be completely anonymous all the time it doesn't have to be um the idea here is that you're not boasting. Think of the context because the Pharisees would, the Sadducees, I forget which group or both, would go out and they'd put their money in and they would do it publicly. They would say, look at me, look what I'm doing. And it was that background that Jesus was speaking against. Don't do that.

You know, if you give, you give. And, you know, if you give and you get tax receipt, that's fine. That's just being wise with your money. Not a problem.

Sometimes when I give, you know, I don't, I just do it anonymously and that's fine the lord knows uh and that's it you know and so you can do what you want and do it for the tax exempt thing is fine CARM is 501c3 so you know we give tax receipts at the end of the year uh there's nothing wrong with that it's not like they're trying to boast you're not trying to do anything like that okay okay yeah that's a clear explanation i always wonder because i i do have some brothers and sisters who are good people and they they literally don't want any recognition, including tax returns. That's fine. Yeah, and that's fine. I just personally don't like giving money to the government like that, just, you know, freely. But if they feel that way, so be it.

But, you know, thank you for sharing some clarity on that. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with doing it either way.

So it's okay. Between you and God. All right. All right, brother.

Well, God bless, man. All right. God bless you now. All right. Thanks for having me.

Hey, folks, we don't have anybody waiting right now. If you want to give me a call, the number, is 877-207-2276. We'll be right back. It's Matt Slick Live! Taking your calls at 877-207-2276.

Here's Matt Slick. All right, and welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, The number is 877-207-2276. Let's get to Jesse from Arizona. Jesse, welcome.

You're on the air. Hey, Matt. How are you doing, sir? Oh, doing okay. Hanging in there, man.

Hanging in there. I've talked to you a few times, and you've helped me a lot over the years. And I'm an ex-Jehovah's Witness, what you would call, what they call, an apostate. Right. And so there's a lot of hate in my little town, in my town in Arizona.

So maybe there's a thousand to two thousand Jehovah's Witnesses. And I was one for 40 years.

So naturally, when they see me in the street or at the mall or the Home Depot or anywhere, they hate me. But they never disfellowshipped me. I never got disfellowshipped. I was an elder. I just was able to walk away.

But naturally, the hate comes with it. Yeah, because my question to you is. Yeah, it's called shunning, and it's what they do. Yeah, they shun me, but they didn't disfellowship me because I was an elder for 15 years, so I think they were afraid to disfellowship me. It's a real rough situation.

I don't know why. But my question to you is, lately I've been arguing with a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses about the way they had a national campaign, their yearly campaign on peace on earth. And naturally, they quote the United Nations at their website as the worldly talking points. And one of the things that they talk about Jesus Christ, one of the things that we argue about, is they say Jesus is qualified to lead. They call him a qualified leader, like Donald Trump would be a leader, or like you have a qualifications to be a senator, a qualifications to be, you know, like the qualifications that the Constitution says that you have to be to be a House of Representatives.

And that's how I what I tell them is that you can't put a qualifier on Jesus Christ. And to me, it's a blasphemous what they do. And my question to you, would am I going to an extreme telling them that they're blasphemous, calling Jesus a qualified leader? It depends what they mean. That's the issue.

He's certainly qualified. He's God in flesh. but they believe he's just Michael the archangel became a man that became an angel again and so they say he's qualified but they mean it in a human level so they're blaspheming by saying that because of what they intend, what they mean by it and that's what that's my argument that's my argument right there they're putting a qualifier on him you can do this really quickly if he's a qualified leader you can work with him and you can say is he qualified to forgive you of your sins since he has all authority in heaven and earth in the 2818. And they have to say yes, and does he have the authority to forgive sins? And because in Luke 520, he did.

Say, then shouldn't you go to him and ask him and give him the gospel really quickly, cause him to go to Jesus. But, you know, you and I both know they're brainwashed people, they're J-dubs. Yeah. My little brother is an apostate too, and he told me, Jesse, calm down. You don't have to use the word qualif, because I told him that we were arguing with some witnesses, and I told him that It would be better if they were not born, if they're going to put a qualifier on Jesus, because a qualifier is a subordinate of the divine.

When you're of divine nature, you don't need to be qualified. You could just say Jesus is the holy one, and that qualifier is fine. He's the divine one. You could say that, too.

So all qualifiers aren't bad. Don't apply. Exactly. Yeah. They do.

The one of he's holy, he's good, he's righteous, things like that, that's fine. And as a Christian, I should have more fruits of the Spirit by not getting upset about it. But I guess if you see it, and you live it, and you see it in writing, and you have, whoa, you can't do this, because now your contempt for Jesus Christ is showing, it's exposed. and other people don't see it. And when you're the only one that sees it, I guess you get a little riled up.

It's certainly understandable because you were in that cult for a long time and now you're out.

So let me, I don't know if we went over this before. Do you affirm the Trinity now? Pardon me? Do you affirm the doctrine of the Trinity, one God and three persons? You know what?

That's a great question. I believe Jesus Christ is God and my little brother believes he is the son of God. And I believe he is of the same essence as God. And when I walk, I feel I'm talking to Jesus.

So I'm like, Jesus says, blessed are the confused. I don't know how to explain the Trinity. Here, let me help you out. There's a way to explain it that works. I just use the analogy of time.

You're breathing into the, in your mic, you're breathing into the phone.

So time has three aspects to it. I like the word aspect because it's nondescript, but it's past, present, and future. Past, present, and future. They're all by nature time, but they're distinct from each other. And we learn their distinction by how they relate to each other.

And that's it.

So the Trinity is Father, Son, Holy Spirit. They're all divine in essence, but they're separate persons or distinct persons because of their relationship to each other. and so the Father, Holy Spirit, Jesus are all divine, yet they have identity.

Okay? Correct. And so if you've got Trinity, you can go to my website, karm.org forward slash Trinity, and you can look up stuff there, and you can check it out.

Okay? You got it, sir. You have a blessed day. You too, brother. Thank you.

Just make sure you know who he is, and if you believe he's divine, that's good.

So good for you. Yeah, and I'll keep away from them J-dubs so they won't trigger me. mentally yeah let's pray and keep going okay all right all right brother okay well let's see okay and there we go hey if you want to give me a call folks we're wide open 877-207-2276 you can give me a call i want to hear from you and um we have nobody waiting right now and we can get to some of the emails as well. You can send an email to info at carm.org, info at carm.org, and you can put a subject line, radio comment or radio question, and we can get to it. All right, so what I did today is I worked on an article on CARM.

Now, the article is just simply called Writers. We are looking for writers for CARM now. We're looking for people who want to write for CARM. And if you were to go to CARM.org forward slash, I want to think it should work. Let me see, make sure, just forward to that page.

You should go to the home page too. Let's see, just forward slash writers, what happens. Let's see, oh, it doesn't say it.

So you have to do it this way, I think. Let's see.

Okay, you have to go, yeah, there you go. Just go to CARM.org forward slash CARM forward slash writers, but I'm going to, I'll make a redirect. or just type in the word writers or go to the homepage. But we're looking for people who are qualified to write. You don't have to have a degree and you don't have to be reformed in your theology.

You have to agree with the statement of faith that's on there. You've got to pray about it. You've got to talk to your, if you're married, your spouse has to know. You have to be agreed. Anyway, there's, I have 18 things there that you, you know, we have spiritual and personal qualifications, skills and application process, writing and content guidelines.

And we've had people write before, but we're going to be doing this because I'm getting older and I can't keep up with all the writing needs. We literally have a hundred thousand questions that have been submitted. We have some I haven't even categorized yet. We've got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of things. And people can write on what they want to write.

Now they have to be qualified. They have to get a sample and the whole bit. But if that sounds interesting to you, go to karm.org forward slash karm forward slash writers. Or just go there and type in writers in the search engine. You'll be able to find it.

We'll be right back after these messages. Please stay tuned. it's matt slick live taking your calls at 877-207-2276 here's matt slick everybody Welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, as usual, it's 877-207-2276. Let's get to Joe from North Carolina.

Joe, welcome. You are on the air. Hey. Hey, Matt, how are you? Good to talk to you again.

Nice talking to you.

So what do you got? Well, my question is, there's two words that I keep reading in the Bible.

So if a Christian is a just Christian or an elect Christian, what does that technically mean? A just Christian is a short word for justified or justification So justification is the status a Christian is in legally according to the law So Jesus was made under the law Galatians 4 He never sinned 1 Peter 2 So he did everything perfectly. And when we believe and we trust in him, we are justified. That means his righteousness is reckoned to our account. And this is out of Philippians 3.9.

we have a righteousness that's not our own, but a righteousness not derived from the law, but by faith in Christ. It comes from God.

So when someone is just, it means according to the law, that the righteousness of God has been given to that person so that God sees that person legally pure without sin. That's called justification. Election is the process of God choosing people to save. and God can choose nations to do certain things generically, but he also can predestine work groups of people as well as individuals, as Acts 4, 27, 28 says, and Paul's a chosen vessel, and the word in Greek is singular. He was chosen, he's elected for that purpose, to do what he wants, and a lecture is mentioned in many places in the Bible, but one I frequently go to is Ephesians 1 4 he chose us in him before the foundation of the world the choosing is another word for his electing and that's what it is and they're both both these doctrines are biblical and right there from the scripture okay okay makes sense well I think I well you know sometimes when you hear and read And then one day the Lord just goes, okay, bang, and the switch comes on.

It'll come around. It'll come around. Just think of it this way. Just think of it this way, about justification. Jesus is perfect.

He did everything right according to the law. You didn't. You haven't. But when you believe and you trust in his sacrifice, not only are your sins, you're removed. What happens at your belief is now all that goodness, that righteousness that Jesus has is counted to your account.

It's reckoned into your account. Like me transferring 100 bucks into your account. Jesus transfers his righteousness into your account before God the Father. That's justification by faith. See that?

Now that makes sense. That makes sense?

Now that I can wrap my head around. I can wrap my head around. That's all right.

So it's like saying, I want to say his goodness, but it's not just goodness. It's his legal keeping the law perfectly. Never lying, never cheating, never stealing. Everything perfect. He did it, and he's God, so it's an infinite value that he has in that respect, and he gives it to the people who trust in him.

He goes, okay, what I have is yours now. There it is. It belongs to you.

Okay? Yep. So. There you go. All right, sir.

I knew I could count on you. Thank you very much. You're welcome very much.

Well, God bless, man. All right. Yes, sir. Thank you. God bless.

Bye.

All right. All right. I hope that makes sense. And that election, that justification occurs upon your belief, not when you get baptized.

Okay? So a lot of people like the false religions of Eastern Orthodoxy, Roman Catholicism, say that when you get baptized, that's when all this occurs to you. That's when you're justified. That's when, no, no, no, no, no. that's not the case.

I can teach on it frequently with them and they ignore scripture, they ignore what God's word says, they don't believe, they believe in their churches, not in the word of God. But justification is perceived by faith. To the one who does not work, this is Romans 4 5, to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Okay? Simple. Romans 4, 5. The Bible's good. Let's get to Chuck from Ohio.

Chuck, welcome. You're on the air. Hi, thank you. Sure. I had some Mormons stop by Sunday and left a card.

I wasn't there, but I think they'll probably be coming back. I just wanted to call and get some scriptural support and prayer support. I've met and talked with them several times, but it's been quite a while. I mean, you know, Mormon missionaries, what I'm talking about, years ago. Yes, you know, there's nothing wrong with inviting them in and talking to them.

And for the most part, Mormon missionaries are really nice guys and girls. They're not going to hurt you. They're really respectful. And seriously, they're great folks. They're great kids.

Now, they believe in a false religion and a false God and a false gospel, a false Christ. They believe in a false prophet. I mean, you know, their object of their faith is false.

So their faith is as good as nothing on the Day of Judgment.

So what I would do, I'd recommend, is just have them come over and just take notes. Say, well, what do you believe about God? What do you believe about Jesus? What do you believe? Just write down what they say.

You know, how many gods are there in all existence, all place, and all time? See what they say. And just take notes. And after a while, you'll be able to ask some questions. And I would, you know, I would, you could, if you wanted, you could go to Karm and you could print up some of the documentation from their sources where there's many gods out there, potentially becoming gods, things like that.

There's a goddess wife to God and things like that. And you could have the documentation there if you're ready. If you want, you could talk to them. But the idea is to witness to them and get them to stay so they can hear the gospel.

So you can ask them questions like, are you doing well enough? Is everything you're doing good enough? And one of the things that I would remember, if I were you, is Doctrine and Covenants 82.7. And it's important because of what it says. Doctrine and Covenants is one of their standard works.

They think it's Scripture, but it's not. But they call it it. This is what it says in Doctrine and Covenants. It's D&C. They're called D&C for short, Doctrine and Covenants.

This is about salvation. Because in Mormonism, like all false religions, you have to keep the law, do good things, and stay like that in order to be forgiven. That's how they work. Variations of that theme. This is what it says in D&C 87.

This is their standard. They believe this is just as inspired as the Bible. And now verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge. Go your ways and sin no more. But unto the soul that sinneth shall the former sins return it, saith the Lord your God.

So if you sin the same sins over, your former sins come back to you. This is a critical verse because you can ask them, well, how are you doing with that? Because they don't have any hope. Mormons don't have any hope. their sins all come back upon them the soul that sinned, your former sins come back upon you their level of perfection is perfection they earn their salvation through their goodness and if they fail, then their former sins come back on them it's a false gospel they don't know what the gospel is they don't know what Jesus did everything D&C, 82.7 okay 82.7 Doctrine and Covenants D&C D and C D and C D and C the letter D, the letter N, the letter C D and C Doctrine and Covenants it just shortened as D and C and 82.7 82.7 82.7 alright thank you you've got that on your website right?

it's called the impossible gospel in Mormonism I go through a lot more verses where we show in 2 Nephi 25-23, the Book of Mormon, it says, you're saved by grace through faith after all you can do. And in Moroni 32, excuse me, oh wow, it's been a while. I can remember that one. It says, if you deny yourselves of all ungodliness, then is God's grace sufficient for you. Moroni 10-4, excuse me.

or 1032.

So they have a gospel where they can't keep the gospel. They can't do it. You have to deny yourself of all ungodliness. And they can't do that.

Okay? So this is obviously a false gospel. They don't understand what it is. And it's Moroni 1032. All right?

So here's what the actual verse says. Oh, there's a verse. I mean, there's a break coming up. Tell you what, hold on if you want. You can hang up, too.

I'll talk about it over the end.

Okay. But I'll go through the verses, okay? All right, brother.

God bless. Okay. All right. Talk to you later. Folks, we'll be right back after these messages.

I'll go through the impossible gospel of Mormonism and why you can't be saved in it. We'll be right back after these messages. Please stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick.

All right, everyone. Welcome back to the show. The last segment of the hour. You can give me a call if you want, 877-207-2276. What I'm doing now is looking at my article I wrote back in 2009, The Gospel According to Mormonism.

It's on my website, karm.org. And let's go through some of the stuff that it says. the Book of Mormon in Alma 11.37, it says you cannot save them in their sins. You cannot be saved in your sins. That's what it says there.

Now in 2 Nephi 25.23, it says that by grace you're saved after all you can do. That's interesting.

So in Alma 11.37, the Lord has ordained the laws by which salvation and all good things come, and until obedience prepares the way, the promised blessings are withheld.

So this is, how do I say this? I know what I'm going to do. I'll just continue to read and then go back through this.

So the 13th president of the Mormon church, Ezra Taft Benson, said that what is meant by after all we can do? He interprets this in the Book of Mormon 2523. He says, after all we can do includes extending our best effort After all we can do includes living his commandments. After all we can do includes loving our fellow man and praying for those who regard us as our adversary. After all we can do means clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and giving succor S to those who stand in need of it After all we can do means leading chaste clean pure lives being scrupulously honest in all our dealings Scrupulously honest, dear not Mormons.

And treating others the way we would want to be treated. That's the teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, page 354. And also, so he goes, we know that it's by grace that we're saved after all we can do. And that's what he says.

Okay, so I'm just going through my notes. It says in the Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 3.7, He shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the things which he commanded them. Interesting. And then, well, Mormonism teaches that you've got to keep the commandments, right? You do.

So in Moroni 10.32, it says, Come unto Christ and be perfected in him and deny yourself of all ungodliness. And if you shall deny yourself of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you.

Now, that is that's terrifying. If I was a real Mormon and I was reading this, I'd be terrified. Because if you deny yourself of all ungodliness, I'd say, man, Jesus is a standard, not me. I'm in trouble. And deny yourself of all of it.

Okay, then you have to love God with all your mind, your might, your strength. Then is his grace sufficient for you after all that you can do. Oh, my goodness. There's no hope in that. And there are a lot of arrogant people.

I'm just going to say it. Oh, yeah, I can keep the commandments. Oh, yeah, I don't sin anymore. Oh, God understands how sincere I am. He knows my heart.

I'm good. What they're doing is judging what God will do based on what they say. and what they believe. And then we'll go on here. We've got a caller coming in.

And let's see. And I'll get down to here.

So the synopsis of the salvation, according to LDS sources, is this. You cannot be saved in your sins. Alma 1137. By grace, you're saved after all you can do. 2 Nephi 25-23.

You must give your very best. That's the teachings of Ezra, Taft, Benson, page 354. You must deny yourself of all ungodliness. Moroni 10.32. Turn from all your former sins and commit them no more.

As teachings of the presidents of the church, Wilford Woodruff, pages 71-72. If you commit any past sins again, the former sins return. Doctrine and Covenants 82.7. Therefore, in order to remain forgiven, you must never commit the sin again. Mormon missionary discussion, Uniform System of Teaching Families, 1981, page 36.

Is that the gospel? No, it's not, ladies and gentlemen. it's not the gospel of christ the gospel of christ is that he did everything we simply trust in what he did and his righteousness is given to us because we're not good enough we never will be let's get to andrea from north carolina welcome you're on the air hi hi so what do you got i'm listening to what you're saying and i agree with you you know about the mormons i don't know a whole lot about it. My husband did at one time, studied with him. I have also, but I didn't get real, real deep into it to the point where I know their religion.

But sometimes, you know, people, I would say a weak-minded person would take that out of context, like that man did and attacked that church, would that be the devil in him or what to cause him to want to kill those people in that church?

Well, it was demonic. It was demonic.

So he had mental issues. We know about that. Oh, okay. That's right. Yeah, that's right.

He did have, he had been in the army or something and he did have some problems. That's right. and it's unfortunate but yeah okay all right and the devil will use who he can he will use thank you that's right okay that's right well thank you very much appreciate it okay okay all right so um so look folks jesus says this come to me all who are weary and heavy So if you're a Mormon listening, do you have rest in your church, in your Mormon church? Are you doing everything you can do? Do you feel the weight of your failure?

Do you fear the idea of the judgment to come? Are you having doubts?

Well, let me tell you, if you are down there in the area of Salt Lake City, because I say down there, I'm up here in Idaho, you can contact MRM.org. You can also contact me, but Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson, I was just with them this weekend, they run Mormonism Research Ministry, MRM.org. and they have, what's the name of that? The Centers for Mormon Research, Christian Mormonism Center. I forgot the name of it.

It was just there yesterday. They were giving us a private tour. And it's a really nice facility. They have all kinds of stuff on the Bible and archaeological stuff. And then they have a room in the back and they do Bible studies on Monday nights.

They do all kinds of wonderful things. But you can contact them, MRM.org. Mormonism Research Ministry. They're exceedingly knowledgeable, and they'd be glad to meet with you. You can come down to the center, and you can talk with them.

And Eric Johnson, he has a great heart for the Mormons, so does Bill. And I'm just lifting them up because they do a great thing. I know that the radio show here goes down there in the Salt Lake City area, and you can do this anonymously. You can go there and get books, get documentation. Let me tell you, they are incredibly knowledgeable and they are humble in their presentation and their truth.

And I've known both of them for decades. They're great guys.

Okay. So if you're interested in checking it out, mrm.org, you could go there. I'm just giving you guys a heads up. And if you want to call me or you can talk to me that's fine too I don't have any problem with that and I'm looking at their website right now and trying to find out where their center is I'm going to type in the word center so I can find it yeah Utah Christian Research Center there it is the Utah Christian Research Center yep and it's let's see looking for the address of it August 1st, Utah, I'm looking for the address Hey, how come there's no address there? I don't see the address there I'd call them up and say, hey, how come there's no address there?

So, yeah, 2,300 square feet Oh, interesting, open on November 22nd That's my wedding anniversary, how about that?

So the center's located between Provo and Salt Lake City And maybe they don't have it there for a reason I don't know I won't worry about that, but you can always contact them if you want to go check it out.

So back to this issue of Mormonism. You cannot be saved in the Mormon gospel. It's called the impossible gospel. You can't do it. You've got to be saved, right?

You can't be saved in your sins. Excuse me, Alma 1137. You have to get rid of them all. And you can only be saved after all you can do. 2 Nephi 25-23.

So are you doing all you can do? I've actually talked to missionaries and gone to Moroni 1032. Have you denied yourself of all ungodliness? They go, yes. And I say, okay.

So all and every bit of ungodliness in you is now you've denied yourself of that. I've had them say yes. And I can tell right away, they don't, I'm not mocking them. They just don't understand. They don't understand.

They've not been in the presence of God. You would never say that because you can't deny yourself of all ungodliness. And then what I say is, is Jesus the standard of perfection and righteousness? Yes. Are you denying yourself of all ungodliness on the same level as Jesus throughout your whole life?

That's what it means, all ungodliness. And they say, well, no, then you're failing, aren't you? Because what happens in false religions a lot of time is God and or Christ is lowered and they exalt themselves. God understands my inability. God understands my sincerity.

I'm trying. God will take care of the rest. You're saved by grace through faith after all you can do. You try, and he understands, and you got to do that.

Well, that's not found in scripture. In fact, the contrary is found in scripture. The true gospel is simple. You believe and you trust in Jesus Christ, God in flesh, who died on the cross. He was born, and he never sinned, and he died on that cross, and three days later he rose from the dead.

He did everything perfectly. And the only thing you can do is pray to him. Ask Jesus to forgive you of all of your sins. Look to Jesus. Ask him to forgive you.

He has all authority in heaven and earth. Matthew 28, 18. All authority in heaven and earth. All. He has the authority to forgive you of your sins.

If you want to be forgiven of your sins, go to Jesus. Look to Jesus. Ask Jesus. Talk to him. He even says, come to me and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11, 28. And John 14, 14. ask me anything in my name and I will do it. He has all authority to forgive sins and he does so in Luke chapter 5. Just go read through it, you'll see.

So go to Jesus. The Jesus of the Bible is prayed to. The Jesus of the Bible is worshipped equally with God. He sought because he is God. That's why he says, come to me.

You can't do enough works. You can't be good enough. You can never be good enough. That's why the only thing left it, you have to throw your hands up in the air to say, I've got nothing left. You drop to your knees, bow your head, ask Jesus to save you.

Ask Jesus to... Just ask Jesus to forgive you. Ask Him to cleanse you. Trust completely in Him. Just trust in what He did.

Trust in what He did. Receive it by faith. As the Bible says, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him, in Jesus, who justifies the ungodly. His faith is credited as righteousness. Romans 4, 5.

I can go on and on about this. Lots of verses speak like that. Jesus did it all. All cults teach that you cooperate with God, and the cooperation with your faith and your good works gets you salvation, gets you the forgiveness of sins. That's not found in the Bible.

That's a false gospel that they teach. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Trust in Jesus. There's a music. May the Lord bless you by His grace.

We'll be back on there tomorrow. And Lord willing, we'll talk to you then.

So have a great evening everyone. God bless. Talk to you later. Another program powered by The Truth Network.
