It is the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.

Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you're well. I hope you're amazing. I hope you are terrific.

Why? Because it's Friday and I'll be hanging out with you for the next three hours. This is a four hour show.

I get started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. We've already had a busy show. We've already had a guest. And we got another guest.

Hey, thank you so much. Just a few minutes ago, a great chat with Matt Muehlbach. He used to play for Arizona, the Wildcats on the basketball side and the Lou Olsen.

And now he covers all things college basketball for Fox and for ESPN. He's looking forward to this game that's getting ready to start in a matter of minutes. Ole Miss versus Michigan State right here down the block for me in Atlanta, Georgia.

I'm looking for that, too. I'll be watching here in the studio because I can't be in two places at one time. We're going to talk about some more of the matchups and games that are going to take place tonight as we wrap up the Sweet 16 in advance to the Elite Eight. It's time to hurry up and get this basketball on, OK? Absolutely.

Also, how about this? Deion Sanders got a contract extension. In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with a man who broke the news, Brian Howell, Buff's own beat writer, also from the Boulder Daily Camera. He's going to come through and talk about Deion. Deion's not going to the NFL.

He's getting fifty four million dollars to stay in Boulder, Colorado. So we have more to get into, more to discuss. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me everywhere online at JR Sport Brief, X, Facebook, Instagram. I don't know, TikTok, whatever's out there, I'm there. Just trying to stay out the way. Avoid the negativity of the Internet. It's such a disgusting place. Hickey, I wish we could power wash the Internet.

Can we do that? It's impossible, right? It's a lot of power washing. Oh, my God. How many power washers would you need to scrub Twitter alone?

You'd be there for years. I heard that the guy, he sold the company to his A.I. company today, Elon Musk. Did you see that?

I did not. He sold the company for forty five billion dollars to another one of his companies. So he I mean, I'm not a businessman, so he sold it to himself? Another one of his companies that deals in A.I. So I don't know. What does that mean? I don't know. You'll have more A.I. features for your tweets or something.

I don't know. Great. Just what we need. Hickey, I cannot wait to just throw my phone into the ocean, OK? One day when I don't need a phone, I'm just going to chuck that sucker right into the ocean. I'm going to live off the grid. That's what I'm going to do.

I'm going to throw it back. Sounds like the dream. What, just no phone life and to be able to function?

That'd be nice. You could do it? No, I couldn't. But how much thought? How much money?

If you could just have X amount of dollars in your bank account, how much money would you need to live off the grid outside of having access to a bank? No phone, no phone. Does that mean I can't call like, are we saying like no social media or is it like, I can't call my friends? No, no, no. Social media is too easy.

OK, OK. That's that's too money would be pretty low. It's too easy not to do. I'm just saying no phone. I mean, if you want to Hickey, if you want to use a phone, you know what you do. Pick up a landline somewhere, OK?

If there was a way I could still keep in contact and hang out with my friends, no phone. I mean, give you a beeper. Fifty million, not ten million.

Whoa, whoa, damn Hickey. It's expensive, bro. I just want enough.

I mean, if I don't have a phone, I'm assuming I'm not working. No, you got you. You get a lot of money. You'd be fine.

Right. So I don't want, you know, so I need something where I can retire off of. I mean, I got to invest well.

But if I get ten million dollars, you know, I can sit on a beach, relax and not have to worry about texting my girlfriend or my friends that, hey, I'm running late because I'm on the subway. But I have no way to do that because I have no phone. You know what feels weird, Hickey? What a world we live in. A couple of weekends ago, I forgot I left the house. I forgot my phone.

Right. And I was staying in the neighborhood. I wasn't going anywhere far. Just in the neighborhood. You know, it's probably out the house for maybe two hours, getting something to eat, eat, go back upstairs, mama business. That's two hours without a phone. And I got downstairs and I said, well, I don't have my phone. And Hickey, I felt I felt I don't know.

I don't know what the word liberated for a second to go. You know what? I forgot my phone. I'm going to leave it in the house. I'm going to go out. I'm going to eat. I'm going to sit down and I'm going to enjoy the company of the people that I'm with with no phone. And I'm going to go home and just the phone will be right there for me when I come back. And I couldn't even open the door to leave my apartment without knowing where my phone is.

I'm jealous you were even able to get downstairs. Wow. Wow. You're an addict. I. Yes. You know, one of my favorite activities is to highlight this. What is it? I love going in the shower, cranky at the heat and scrolling Twitter. Oh, my God. I was there for 20 minutes. Your phone is is waterproof.

I guess they all are. But you turn your back to the water. So like the water runs in your back and you just shield. You can shield your phone from getting wet. My phone.

No, I don't know about pretty relaxing. That sounds like the phone will just the steam up and die, man. I'm not trying to risk that. And then you really don't have a phone, man. But you sound like a professional there.

I've been able to think, yeah, at least maneuver to where it still stays functioning without drowning. So far, so good. But yeah, that's wow.

I need I need it. Hate to say it. Wow. A little phone crack addict here.

OK. All right. This super producer and host Ryan Hickey. Hey, big shout outs to Evan. Evan helping to hold things down for us today as well. Evan, how are you, man? You good? I'm doing good.

They are you. Do you absolutely need your phone in your life? You do, right? You don't know what life is without a phone, right? Absolutely. I I've never left the house without my phone.

I'm with Hickey on this one. And if you left your phone outside, then what? Oh, inside you just be what? I don't know what I would do. I think I'd try my best to get the phone.

I think that would be the only thing I could do in that moment. You know what? There was a point in time in life.

There was no phone to take with you outside, right? You know that? I do know. Yeah. Well, who do you think that was the Stone Age or something? That's what it feels like to me a little bit. Oh, my God.

Those were the that those were the days. It is just a freedom and just just living life without like I'm looking at this phone in front of me, all this technology, like we're doing a show. Look at the technology. I don't know how this stuff works. How the hell am I in Atlanta, Georgia?

And through the whole airwaves, people can listen. You guys in New York, like how the hell does any of this stuff work? Hickey, do you know how this works? I don't know. Truly.

I have no idea. This is like magic, right? Right. Basically. Could you imagine taking us back to the sevens?

You know, they'd be looking at you. What is it? We got to kill this guy.

What is he doing right now? You can talk to someone who's more than 10 feet away from you. Impossible. Right. Right, right, right.

It's still it's weird to me. And I work and do this. I don't know what the hell is going on. I know what buttons to push. I know what to do.

I know what to press. Who invented this internet? I don't know.

I don't this internet thing. This stuff is crazy. I'm scaring myself even thinking about it.

Yeah, there's a lot when you really think about like, yeah, you can scare yourself thinking about a lot of different things. A guy from California can call us right now. We can talk to him.

Right. How, how, how, how, how is that possible? How in the span of like a second to talk? Okay, you got to wait.

And the connection is going to go from California all the way to New York to connect. It's going to take minutes. Instantly. One second. Hit button.

Boom. Who did this? I mean, whoever came up with this stuff, I need their money. I need their money.

Where are these people? That's why Elon Musk, what are you? He sold his own company to his own company for $45 billion. Come on. What a world. I think we need to come up with something better than selling air, Hickey.

I think we're taking on now. I still think the air is profitable. Maybe not like Elon Musk money, but it's not tease people to go to Mars. Not that type of cash. Well, remember he got started too smaller, you know, car company.

Like we go a little car. Isn't this another guy who got money from his dad and how that works? Is he? Oh, I don't know.

His start is from South, you know, he's from South Africa that much. I know. Good money down there. Well, I mean, I don't know some. Yeah.

I don't, it depends on how the rich people down there got their money. That's fair. A little dicey, a little dicey there. What a world. Anyway.

Yeah. I'm on X, the company that Elon Musk, the company that got some, just another schmuck on X. This guy's sitting around in his gold tower selling his company for $45 billion. And here I am.

Hickey, that's why it's funny. All the negativity there. Like it's just a bunch of people and robots arguing. And there's a guy making a lot of money off of this. He's making money off of hate and negativity. What a great business, right? That's, that's what we can sell.

Forget air. That's the billion dollar idea right there. You sell hate, right? We are going to sell hate and a platform where the volatility can be highest. Yeah.

We got to, let's, let's cut the chase. Like X is, you know, it's, it's semi, semi shrouded, right? In secrecy that they're selling hate.

Is it, is it shrouded or is it out in the open? I think at this point it's pretty out in the open. We have to be even more outrageous and egregious. Let's promote it. Yeah. Yeah. We got to call it the hate app. Okay. Right out the gate. What and who do you hate? Come join the hate app. Easy.

No censoring too. I think, I think, I mean, I hate to say, I think we would be pretty profitable pretty quickly. Yeah. We don't have to see everybody wants to run around like they don't hate each other.

That's how it works. You know, we don't hate in each. We don't hate each other. Everything is good.

It's all well, staff, everybody, you know, getting along and stuff. It's all shrouded in hate. We're going to sell hate directly.

Hickey, let me try right now. This is a bad idea. Hate.com. Here we go.

Oh, it's it's, it's, it's for sale. Okay. We can do it.

Okay. Maybe hate.co hate.net. Hate. us. There we go.

Hate.us. Let's see. Where does that go? It's still spinning.

Now they're not going anywhere. Okay. That means it doesn't exist. Right. Which is good. Well, I guess hate.com is certainly available.

Hate.us is just spinning. So that also might mean it's it's available. Yeah. People be careful what you consume and have fun.

Not necessarily always with the the phone. It's speaking of having fun. I don't know this guy. I don't know if he's having fun. I don't know if he hates his job. I don't know if he's ready for the next chapter.

I have no idea. It's Kevin Woolard, the head coach. And I say head coach because we have no idea how much longer he's going to be the head coach. The head coach of Maryland. Maryland lost last night to Florida 87 to 71.

Okay. Florida just basically sent waves of players in point. I think it was like five or six guys who ended up in double figures. And there's so much conversations about whether Kevin Woolard is going to move on and go coach Villanova. Is he going to stay? He's been complaining about the money and the resources he has at Maryland.

And even the fans at Maryland were booing him when he was leaving the hotel for the game last night. And while everybody else is getting a contract extension, except for Taylor Jenkins, he got fired by the Grizzlies. Harbaugh got an extension. John from the Ravens.

Deion Sanders got an extension. Kevin Woolard doesn't know what the hell he's going to do. I mean, after the game, listen to this guy. He says, I don't know what I'm going to do. What coach says this? I guess an honest one.

I don't know what I'm doing. I'll just be honest with you. I haven't talked to my agent. I haven't talked to my wife. I made a promise to this team that I was going to just focus on this team and that's all I've done. So I haven't talked to anybody. Right now, my biggest concerns in life right now, I don't know who my boss is going to be. It's the guy that brought me here, who I really liked and appreciative of him bringing me to College Park is not here anymore.

And I don't know who we're going to hire. And that's as in today's day and age, that worries me a little bit just to be honest. My honesty got me in trouble.

Might as well keep getting me in trouble. So. This is going to be a family decision. This is. I love College Park. I love Maryland, you know, but there's.

When you're at this point in your career and you're looking at things, I have to take everything into consideration about what's going to move forward. At least he's honest, right? You don't have to say anything. This is his fault. He opened up his big mouth. Past couple of weeks, all the complaining, complaining about the athletic director who ended up going down to Dallas and SMU, like it's his fault. He shouldn't have said nothing.

Would have kept his mouth shut out. What is he trying to pressure them into getting more money? You think that's going to work? Maybe he does want to stay. Sometimes you just need to learn how to shut up. And if you really want to move and go to Villanova, don't say nothing, just leave.

Just leave. These coaches are human beings, too. I think most of them are just out here looking for the dime. They are looking for the money.

Kevin Woollett is no different. He got a lot of hate and he didn't need to go to an app that his own fan base hates his guts. Let's see if he sticks around with some of his biggest and best players, guys like Derrick Queen moving on to the NBA. It depends on how much money he'll get.

Join the club. It's the JR Sport Preshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Deion Sanders, he don't got to worry about money.

Got a lot of it today. The Colorado Buffaloes gave him a five year fifty four million dollar contract extension. And when we come back from break, we're going to have a chat with the man who broke the news. Brian Howell is going to join us. Covers all things Colorado Buffaloes for the Buffalo Zone is their beat writer as well as the Boulder Daily Camera. We're going to talk Deion. Is he really going to see the rest of this contract out? Could he really still follow his son to the NFL at one point? There's a lot to discuss about the Buffaloes.

Deion, his sons, Travis Hunter, the new quarterback, the Buffalo's future. We'll have that chat with Brian Howell on the other side. You're locked into the JR Sport Preshow on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief, it is the it is the JR Sport Preshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. That's the number.

That's eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. And right now it's time to have a chat with someone who helped break some news today that Deion Sanders is going to be sticking around in Buffalo at least through twenty twenty nine. The man who helped break this news is Brian Howell. Covers all things Buffalo for Buff Zone.

Also the Boulder Daily Camera. Brian, how are you? And thank you for sharing information with the world, man. I'm good and I appreciate it. It was nice to get it out there because it's been something that Buff Nation's been waiting on for months.

So it's nice to have that done and off the plate. Well, most certainly you think about just a few months ago, there was so much conversation about what Deion was going to do with two of his best players and his son leaving. You know, was he going to coach the Cowboys? He had the conversation with Jerry Jones. How long has something like this been in the works? Are we talking post Jerry Jones conversation or was this always kind of a possibility before that? Yeah, I think it's always been a possibility. I spoke with the athletic director in December, even before their bowl game with BYU and and asked him about a contract extension. He said that they were talking at that point, but they would probably get to that more after the season. So it's been something that's been a topic between the two of them, you know, and the, you know, their representatives, of course, for months.

But I think that there was a lot of things that happened, obviously, and it took a long time to kind of get this worked out. Well, without a shadow of a doubt, Brian Howell is here with us covers the Colorado Buffaloes. We know the economic impact that Deion Sanders has had for the university, the area of Boulder. He's just touched upon everything.

Exposure. Prime time has come up to the mountains. Now, having said that, everybody in the area, he's he's a star, right? Nobody looks at him and just go, are people surprised he's sticking around at this point?

I think there's mixed. Personally, I am a little bit, you know, there's some Buff fans that said, oh, I never thought he would leave, you know, because he's always said that. But, you know, coaches always say those things.

And, you know, we know how the sports world works. I always thought that it was a two year deal with this and that that we would see him leave. And so I'm wrong.

I'm happy to say I'm wrong. But I think that he surprised me a little bit on that. But, you know, once it was clear he was going to be staying for this year, I think a contract extension and raise, seems pretty inevitable. And I expected that to happen at some point this offseason.

Well, Brian, let me ask you about this year. This is going to be his first year as a coach where his sons aren't going to be out there. There's no Travis Hunter that he brought over as well from from Jackson. What can we expect from this team going forward? I mean, Julian Lewis is supposed to be a big deal.

Is he going to be the starting QB? Well, I don't know, because they brought in, you know, Caden Salter, who, you know, started Liberty. He's been a big part of your start at Liberty. He was the Conference USA MVP in twenty twenty three when Liberty went 13 and no one that regular season. And he fell off a little bit last year as Liberty did. But he's a really good player. And he came here with just one year left.

So it's the two of them really competing for that job. And I think that Caden Salter wins the job, just kind of having the age on Julian Lewis. I mean, Julian Lewis is, you know, he's supposed to be a junior in high school right now.

He graduated a whole year and a half early. So he's got a lot of time left, but he's super talented. So I think either way, they're going to be a really good quarterback. They're not going to have I mean, I'm biased.

I think Chidor is the best in the country. They're not going to have the best quarterback in the country, but I think they're still pretty good at that spot. But before we get on to Chidor, when you take a look at this this team, the first year they started off hot and then they fell off. Last year, they were able to kind of increase the wins and get to a bowl game. What's the expectation this year for them to take a step back? Like what should we expect?

Well, you know, you ask them, obviously, and the expectation is to keep it going. I mean, there's plenty of people around the program that think they're going to be better than they were last year. I'm one that's skeptical on that. I mean, it's hard for me to think you're going to be better when you lose Travis Hunter and Chidor Sanders, but I think that they're certainly building a program more so than they have in recent years and on a previous staff. So I think there's a better foundation there than there's been in a long time. And I think they've got a lot of good young players and they've got some nice transfers that are coming in. So I think there's that potential. I mean, it wouldn't shock me if they won nine games again and competed in the Big 12. But I still think the floor for this team to me is a bowl game. Brian Howell covers all things Colorado buffaloes.

You mentioned Chidor. You said you feel that he's the best quarterback throwing the rock right now in the country coming out of college. Why him over at Cam Ward? I just think he has experience and, you know, Cam's got a lot of it as well. I think they're the two most experienced quarterbacks coming out of college ever.

I think the number of passes they've thrown makes them the most experienced quarterbacks ever. But I think Chidor is just his experience, not only playing the game, but growing up how he did with it, with his dad being Deion Sanders and, you know, learning for a number of years now under Tom Brady and all these pros. I think he's gained so much knowledge of football that, you know, to me, he's just a seasoned veteran. I think he's ready for really any situation he goes into. And not that he's going to be dynamic and great all of a sudden as a rookie, but I just think that he's one that has star potential, in my opinion. I think he's gonna be really good. Brian has a lot of negativity that's been thrown his way, stemming from his lack of participation at the combine and how serious he is.

And this is all just a lot of nonsense, right? You had a chance to see the guy up close and personal for two years. What do you think about him personally? Yeah, I like him a lot personally.

I think that wherever he goes, I think that town is going to really like him and embrace him. I think he's a fun guy. I think he's got a good personality. I think he's a really good character guy.

I don't know why there's questions on his character. I think you talk to teammates, anybody that's ever been around him and they really like him. His teammates talk about how good of a teammate he is. I think the media that covers him is going to like him as well.

He's just a good personality. I think he's going to be good wherever he goes and because of that, he can adapt to any situation. His future situation is unknown. Do you have any insight as to where he might want to end up?

No, not really. I haven't talked to him since the Alamo Bowl. What they've said recently is, hey, we'll go wherever.

I believe that with them. I think there's probably certain teams that they might have on a wish list, but I do think that Chidoor is confident enough in himself that he could go to the worst team in the league and believe in himself to turn it around because he went to Jackson State who was a losing program and turned them around. He came to Colorado who was the worst program in the country and turned them around. I think he's just supremely confident in himself that whatever situation he goes to, he'll succeed. So where do you think is best because it can't be a team like the Browns, right?

No. I mean, why not, right? Look, I don't watch the NFL as much as college, so I can't really say as far as the roster makeup and things like that. I just know Chidoor and I know that wherever he goes, I think that he's got a chance to be very successful. And I think every NFL team has got good players. And so I think that if he's surrounded by some good players and he's got a good offensive line that can protect him and an offensive coordinator he gets along with, I think he's going to be really successful. Someone else who we expect to be very successful is Travis Hunter, who's moving on as well.

You mentioned him. Where do you think he is best serves to fit on both offense or defense primarily? I think anything that drafts him that doesn't use them on both sides is hurting themselves. I think he's that good. And I don't know if I would play him full time on both sides, but I think that if you don't use them on both sides, I think that's a shame. And I think that you're hurting your own franchise. Personally, I would probably look at him as a full-time corner and someone as a spot receiver that I want in there on offense throughout the game. And it may not be every single snap, but I certainly want him having the ball in his hands. Brian Howell here with us as we start to wrap up. Deion signed this extension.

You broke the news. Do you think we'll see him all the way through 2029 or is this still a possibility? He might say I'm gone.

I'm going to the NFL. Yeah, there's always that possibility. Look, I told you that I thought it was going to be a two year deal. He's gone. So I still, I don't know if he's going to be here another five years. I certainly think he's going to see it through, um, for a little while and, and, uh, try to build this thing to where they can be a championship contender, if not winner. Um, and I could see him being here, you know, another two, three, four years. I don't know if he'll be here five. Uh, but you know, he always says he loves it here and frankly, everything he has said has come true.

And so far be it for me to say, nah, that's not true. He's lying on that one. So, um, it's amazing when you go back and look at everything he says like, Oh yeah, that came true.

So if he says he loves it here, I'm going to go with that. Have you noticed any changes in, in how he interacts with the media, the public? Has he been the same dude since he showed up from day one? Yeah, I, I think so. I mean, I think that with anybody, certainly the longer he's been here, you know, he settles in and you get more comfortable with it.

We certainly saw that with your door. Like, um, he was much more comfortable year two than he was year one, just because Colorado was now his home. And so I think we're seeing the same thing with, uh, Dion, but, uh, I think he's always been pretty comfortable and, um, he's just a guy that I think has been comfortable in his own skin for 30, 40 years, you know, since, uh, he, the spotlight has been on him. He's really just been that guy and you know, he, he knows who he is and he's comfortable with that. Yeah. Well, not a shot of a doubt, real easy to be comfortable knowing you got $54 million coming your way for the next couple of years. If you want it, Brian, that's, that's the easy stuff.

Hey Brian, I appreciate you coming by. Not to mention all the commercials we see on every day, right? Oh my God.

You, you going to make me count now? Let's go, uh, is it Aflac? Aflac, right?

That's one. KFC. Oh, he's in a KFC commercial too? Oh yeah. The whole family's in KFC commercials. You got Aflac, you got blenders, uh, sunglasses and California almonds and yeah, it's all over the place. Oh, maybe I need to, Hey, I don't watch the commercials.

I try to kind of change the channel on that one. Oh man. He's, and he's selling all that stuff. Wow. Yeah. That's your weekend project and all that up. Yeah, I will.

I'll see how many Dion commercials come on during March Madness. Hey Brian, thank you for the time. Tell everybody where they can follow you and all of your work. Yeah. Just check us out at a buffstone.com or daily camera.com and I'm on Twitter or X at Brian Howell, 33. And we appreciate you for bringing a great news and not negativity. Brian, thank you so much. You bet.

Thank you. No doubt about it. That Brian Howell, you just heard him from buffstone beat right there. And also the Boulder daily camera thinks that the Colorado buffaloes might be able to kind of maintain what they've done with both Chador and Travis Hunter gone on their way to the NFL and that Dion, he's sticking around. What a surprise, right? I thought this guy'd be gone following his son to the NFL and realistically, let's be honest, he still might.

Could you imagine? Team gets rid of its head coach and says, Hey Dion, come over here. Come this way.

Come and coach your son. Help us out. It didn't happen this year with the Dallas Cowboys, but it just might happen with somewhere else or somewhere else. And it still might happen.

The Dallas Cowboys. We have no idea where Chador Sanders is going to land. We'll find out sooner than later. The draft I think is less than, I think it's like 26, 27 days away.

It's sooner than later. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. 8 8 8 7 10 4 ISN.

That's 8 8 8 7 10 4 ISN. Our first game of the sweet 16 on this Friday is under way. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport re-show on the infinity sports network. Thank you to Brian Howell.

Covers all things, Colorado buffaloes. Thank you for coming by and having a chat with us about Dion Sanders. I mean, he's right there. He sees Dion. He talks to Chador. He talks to Dion.

He sees them. This is what he does. Well, today he broke the news that Dion Sanders got himself a new five-year contract of $54 million. Dion Sanders not expected to leave Colorado anytime soon, at least through 2029. Now, is he going to stick around for the next five years? We'll see. He'd be around for two. I don't know. Contracts are as good as the paper that they're written on. If both Dion and the buffaloes feel that it's time to move on or Dion wants to move on, that man will be gone.

As simple as that. Thank you, Brian Howell, for coming through and joining us. Meanwhile, the sweet 16, as you just heard from Rich Ackerman here on a Friday night, it's underway. Ole Miss and Michigan are going at it right now. I just saw Chris Beard having a good old chat with the media.

Ole Miss currently leads Michigan 22 to 17. They show Tom Izzo, and all I saw was this man yelling and screaming. I'm like, man, get this, get this guy a loss and just something.

I mean, these interviews that they do during the course of games are just a little, a little too much if you ask me. I'll get to that in a second. I need you to thank O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.

You know, Hickey, one thing that drove me nuts yesterday, you want to talk about all these in-game interviews and what have you. Yesterday, I'm watching, I forgot, no, I'm watching the Brewers and the Yankees because the MLB app didn't work. Remember that? Oh, a lot of people remember that.

A lot of people remember that. So I'm watching the game and I'm working, minding my business, I got the game on in the back. And I hear a guy and I'm like, who the hell are they talking to? And I look over my shoulder and they're having a chat with Reese Hoskins while he's playing defense in the field. And they're just like, oh, well, he can't hear us in certain plays because of the bass and the music and the fans and all of this. And in between pitches, they're having a whole conversation with him.

And I'm saying to myself, they're still doing this? Like what happens if he has an error because he's talking with Joe Girardi or Joe Buck was on yesterday? Like, like, do we need this? I get it. There's an entertainment factor of let's talk to the players while they're playing. And baseball players are doing nothing but standing around and scratching their asses anyway. I'm like, I could do without having a chat with the players during the game. They're not saying nothing. I agree. And it feels like more cringe worthy than anything else.

I get why they do it because one viral moment makes it all, you know, you forget all those hundreds of interviews that they do where nothing was produced. If you get one, you know, whether it makes a diving play or like you said, an error or a coach just gives you an epic rant because he's upset how his team played the last three minutes. I'm with you though. Like you get nothing.

You talk to them, especially in basketball, you talk to them now in the first half, talk to them the second half, you talked about halftime. I just don't see much, much value. Yeah. It's like, give me a break. You're not saying nothing.

I'm supposed to be honest and I get it. Maybe it's forced upon them and the new, you know, TV agreements. So this is an ESPN thing. Have you seen this on Fox?

I think I have right today. Fox does this too. Only time I've seen it is in the all-star game, which I think is definitely different and that is more acceptable. Yeah. It's an exhibition game. Right.

In the middle of opening day. If I was a Brewers fan, I'd be pissed. Yeah. Why is Reese Hoskins trying? And he's, he's like trying to listen. He's like, hold on guys.

I can't hear you. Like, like maybe that's a signal that maybe you shouldn't be doing this crap in the middle of a game. Especially for a guy at first base, who's going to be in most of the action you think, right? At least if it's the left fielder, okay. Odds of getting the ball are slimmer.

There's so many gimmicks. Next thing, you know, Hickey, they're going to ask the catcher, Hey, we want to give you a microphone. We, we want to hear your calls and then we want to talk to you in between communications with the pitcher and the, and the, uh, the umpire, you know, just like, what are we doing?

I don't know. Anyway, the Ole Miss has now taken a 29 to 19 lead over Michigan state. There's about three minutes to go here in the first half and in true Atlanta fashion, Hickey, those seats are empty, bro. Some seats are empty. You see that?

I have not seen like the seats yet. Is there any buzz in the city? No. Really? Zero.

None. If you didn't tell me, well, if I didn't know, Oh, there's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in a Capital One commercial. God bless him. He's selling ice cream with a K. Oh, good.

Uh, to Charles Barkley and Samuel L. Jackson. All right. Hickey, filming these commercials must be fun. Yeah. Some of these stars. Yeah. Yeah. You got five guys.

It's Magic Johnson, Kareem, Charles Barkley, Sam Jackson. And what's the short guy called again? Spike Lee. Spike Lee. Yeah. You got all four of these guys, five of these guys doing a commercial shoot for a day. Sounds like a lot of fun. Uh, but anyway, I digress. Hickey, no.

If I didn't do the job that I do, I'd have no idea. I was actually, I drove by, I had to take care of something. I drove by the basketball arena yesterday and I'm not far from downtown, but you know, when the Superbowl is here and final four is here, the big final four, not this crap, the sweet 16, um, you know, you get the banners all over the city. People are walking around. I feel like they were tourists in the area, but there was no signage. There was nothing. Nobody cares.

Hickey, nobody cares. I was downtown. I didn't, there's nothing. There's construction. There's nothing going on.

Nothing. That was like San Francisco too. Like was it, it was Florida, Maryland and Texas tech, uh, Arkansas.

No one in the stands. Oh, wow. That's a tough trip.

I get it. At least for Atlanta with Michigan and Michigan state alone. The second game is probably going to be jumping. You know, people might be waiting for Auburn. They're like, well, I'm going to show up and watch this game for Ole Miss and, and, uh, you know, Michigan state, even though Michigan state fans, they travel crazy. And Ole Miss is right there. Ole Miss is not far, but Auburn is closer. You're going to have more folks just driving over from Alabama.

This is right next door. You know, so I think Michigan and Auburn is going to have a completely different feel later on tonight. Hey, we just talked about Chris Beard, head coach of Ole Miss, former coach of Texas. And then we talked about Tom Izzo. These are two guys that were just, uh, well, Tom Izzo was losing his mind a few minutes ago. Uh, Tom Izzo says we are here right now. We Michigan state, because our team is unselfish.

They love each other. Listen, different guys would rear their heads and maybe score. We had seven, eight different leading scores. And this team appreciated that.

And most teams are so selfish. They don't appreciate that. So I don't think it's what I did. I think it's what they've done. Yeah, man. That was the quiet, humble old man, Tom Izzo, who's been here 27 consecutive times.

The one that I just saw on the television, this guy was screaming. And with good reason, his team only has 19 points. They are six of 17 from the field.

They're down 10 points, 29 to 19 Ole Miss leads Michigan state, a little less than four minutes to go here in the first half. Meanwhile, Chris Beard, he spoke matter of fact is Zach Galp. And he says, yeah, I know what we did. We beat North Carolina. We beat Iowa state. This man said, I am proud of my guys. To be in our 10th NCAA tournament, uh, to be in our second, uh, sweet 16 in school history. And just our second season here, I think our players deserve all the credit.

You know, they're the ones that have done the work, got the stops, made the baskets, uh, for us to be one of the 16 teams, you know, left across the country. Man, that guy's just happy to have a job. Okay. The man had, oh man, the hickey.

I hate to call you in on these things, but I have to, I'm like, I don't know. He wasn't, he alleged like abuse in the house and then it was unfounded or it was retracted, something like that, right? He was, you know, there's a mugshot. He was in jail.

Yeah. Didn't they say it didn't happen or something? I believe his wife, ex-wife, I don't know the situation at this point, honestly. Uh, she was, uh, retracted. There you go.

Her story. And so now he has, now he has a job somewhere else. That's right. Yeah. Back in the sec. Oh yeah. Right. What a world.

The old misses is wrong. Michigan state, a little bit of a run here. 31 to 25. Maybe your lows, uh, hickey, I'm trying to figure, okay, now a couple more people are filling up those stands a little bit. They found out what Atlanta traffic is, I guess. Um, yeah, by the end of this game, I guess, state farm arena will be, will be moving. Interesting how they laid out the, uh, one thing I did notice, you know, hickey on, well, that other side of the arena is empty. I guess that's for the next game. We got a bar behind the basket, like the bat, whatever basket that Michigan is shooting on right now, we got our whole club in a bar back there. That's open air. That's right behind the basket. Uh, it appears that they have just put seats there and I guess they don't want to sell alcohol to the students during the game.

That would be fun. I know. I mean, you want to talk about some juice in the arena, Jr. That's how you got to do it.

Put the bar there and have a party? Yeah. NCA dropped the ball here.

Come on. NCA is, uh, having some of these schools, they just started allowing alcohol sales. Isn't that how it goes, right? Yeah. And I think at this point now more sell alcohol than don't.

Wow. And how, how does that work? Like if I'm a student and I'm at a game, I can buy booze, just what, beer. That's all I can buy. If you're 21.

Yeah. I think some, some sell liquor, but mostly beer. I could buy as much beer as I want. Um, well, I know certain schools like Penn State, for example, you can only buy like two or three max, like for the entire game.

What do they do? Give you a wristband and punch a hole? Exactly right. Yep. Oh, come on. I'm an adult.

You can't tell me how much beer I'm gonna buy. Yep. Wrist, who do I buy? Previously.

That was maybe the first year. So maybe they've retracted it, but. Who do I buy the wristbands from? The extra wristbands?

Uh, you know, get your ID checked and then they give them to you. They gotta be somebody hustling wristbands, somebody. Some, there's always a hustle everywhere, right? Yeah. Extra wristbands, extra wristband. I'm trying to think if I want to have a beer after this, uh, after I get out of work, he might be bad.

Yes. I might run into, I might run into a bunch of losers outside. You will. It's the JR sport brie show, the infinity sports network. We're going to talk more college basketball and more NBA on the other side too. Don't move.
