It is the JR Sportbrief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. I'm being joined by our producer in New York, Six City, Jack Carty.

This show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always tune in on the free Odyssey app. Your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate is SiriusXM375 and a smart speaker if you have one.

Ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. I'll be here with you for one more hour and we've had a hell of a show. Thank you to Cordell Woodland from 105.7 to fans to talk about the Ravens, what we can expect from Baltimore moving forward.

Thank you to Grant Paulson, 106.7 to fan in D.C. to talk about what we can expect from Washington, who expected them to be in the NFC Championship game. And thank you to the producer of this show, the JR Sportbrief show and weekend host here on the Infinity Sports Network, Ryan Hickey. We spoke to Ryan Hickey earlier in the show because he is here in Atlanta, Georgia. Ryan is not in studio with me.

I'm in studio. Ryan is at. The national championship game, and as of this moment, Ohio State leads Notre Dame 14 to 7. A little less than 90 seconds left in this game. Ohio State at minimum at this point in time is threatening a field goal. But the way that they have been moving the football, I don't think anybody anybody would be surprised if they put another score here on the board. And I'm not talking about three.

I'm talking about six. Notre Dame had a big opening drive about 10 minutes. They held the football until Riley Leonard punched it in with a one yard touchdown run. Ohio State was able to answer back on its own in the second. Jeremiah Smith with an eight yard touchdown reception in the second to open up the scoring for Ohio State. And then Quinn Sean Judkins minutes ago, a nine yard touchdown rush to make it 13 to 7. The extra point made it 14 to 7. And here we go as Ohio State is trying to move the ball further down the field. They are now in field goal range and they are threatening now for more as they are about what the 22 yard line with a minute 20 to go. The clock has been stopped, so we'll keep you up to date if Ohio State puts another score up on the board.

Not going to be good for Notre Dame if they end up in a 21 to 7 hole in the first half, we might be in for a little bit of a bludgeoning 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 is the number that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Of course, we had all the divisional games in the NFL playoffs over the weekend. We also had I can't even call it a little bit of news. It's big news because today Ben Johnson becomes the next head coach of the Chicago Bears. Yeah, he decides to leave the team that he helped advance last year to the NFC championship game.

This year they lose in the divisional round. I'm talking about he's leaving the Lions. It's kind of crazy because Dan Campbell, he was asked about this. He was asked, hey, what the hell are you going to do if Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn move on? And this is what Dan Campbell said. We've got guys on staff that I think are more than qualified and would be outstanding in those roles.

But that does not mean that I'm not looking outside either. So I want what I believe is is going to be as close to what we have been as possible. Good luck with that one. Aaron Glenn is going to have his second interview with the New York Jets. He's going to interview with the New Orleans Saints. And Ben Johnson, as we learned today, he is going to a division rival leading Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears. Adam Schefter helped break the news earlier today on ESPN. Listen to what he had to say about this move. Yeah, Laura, the Chicago Bears are hiring Ben Johnson, despite the fact that many people thought that Ben Johnson would wind up in Las Vegas.

Chicago lands the plane. They get the offensive coordinator from in the division from the Detroit Lions. He's going to be hired as the next head coach of the Chicago Bears. The Bears have been gone reaching out to other candidates to let them know they are getting the guy to grow with Caleb Williams to move forward.

There is the news from earlier today. Ben Johnson's going to be the head coach. He had interest from the Raiders. He had interest from the Jaguars. But he's obviously going to be going to Chicago, which put on a full court press, which wanted him in the worst way, which recognized the commodity that they had in Caleb Williams to move forward. And they are now moving forward with Ben Johnson as the next head coach. As soon as the Lions lost on Saturday night, we knew the hiring cycle would be accelerated.

And it, in fact, has been with Ben Johnson now agreeing to become the new head coach of the Chicago Bears. The guy had options. He had choices. Good on him not going to Jacksonville, less familiar to like he's familiar with what's going on in Chicago. He has to compete against them. Also good on him for not going to Las Vegas. And although Tom Brady is now a minority owner of the team, although Tom Brady, you would think, is going to have major influence on personnel decisions as well as executive decisions inside the organization, the Las Vegas Raiders still don't have a quarterback.

And then you got to be realistic the majority of the time. Are you reporting to Tom Brady or are you talking to Mark Davis with no quarterback in an unfamiliar situation? Oh yeah. And by the way, it's been reported, not set in stone.

We won't necessarily know the exact dollar figure. The Bears are going to pay him $15 million a year. Not bad. He doesn't have to even move that far. He gets to just go a little further south, go from Detroit, go to Chicago, very different than going out to the desert to work for Mark Davis, which sounds like a Vegas style disaster if you're just asking me. And so good on Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams in the most, is it millennial?

Yeah, in the most millennial way possible. He decided to post his approval on Instagram that he is thrilled and happy that Ben Johnson is his new head coach. Good for him. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. Unfortunately for teams like the Lions, they were able to offer this position for Ben, or at least allow Ben Johnson to interview. Look at that. Oh, here we go. Being distracted. Hey, Carter, you see LeBron James is at the game too?

I do. He is at the game. He's rocking that Ohio State sweatshirt.

LeBron James is at the game. Ohio State getting ready to put the ball through the uprights and they do. They kick a field goal. 20. Oh no, a touchdown.

Damn it. 21-7. That's the score that you did not want here. As Will Howard goes ahead, throws a touchdown. Extra point is good. 21-7, Ohio State.

Oh man. Jack, by the time we get out of here, is this game going to be out of reach? Unfortunately, I think this game is starting to get a little out of reach now because the last thing a Notre Dame needed to do was let that happen. Let the Ohio State Buckeyes drive down the field and score like that and that's exactly what they did.

Unfortunately, I think this game is starting to get that this is going to be out of reach feel. And it's only the first half. They showed a photo of, not a photo, they showed Riley London on the sidelines there. Yeah, he has a very concerned look on his face. Yeah, he's like, oh crap, how the hell am I going to score with these guys? And as the game is, here we are, it's going to end this way for Will Howard. These are his numbers in the first half.

You want to talk about efficiency. Will Howard is 14 of 15 passing the ball. He has missed on one pass and has thrown two touchdowns. First touchdown he threw was to Jeremiah Smith. This last touchdown that he just threw, let's see, he threw it to Quinn Sean Judkins who already rushed for a nine yard pass.

Quinn Sean Judkins already now with two touchdowns here in the first half. But if Will Howard continues to throw the rock around like this, people are going to look at him as being the most outstanding player here in this game. Now we had mentioned LeBron James being here. Not a surprise. LeBron James is from the great state of Ohio. Now here's the funny part.

When you're LeBron James and you're a billionaire, you can do what the hell you want. Just last night, and now we're officially at halftime, Ohio State leads Notre Dame 21 to seven. Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers, and of course the game is in L.A., the Clippers beat the Lakers 116 to 102. That was last night, Sunday, Monday, across the country.

Four hours, four and a half hours, not bad. Here in Atlanta, Georgia, that's how far it is from L.A., we have the national championship game. Tomorrow night the Los Angeles Lakers are back in L.A. hosting the Washington Wizards.

Let me say that again. Last night, Lakers lose to the Clippers. Today is the national championship game in Atlanta. Tomorrow the Wizards are at the Lakers. Now when you're LeBron James, what's a four and a half hour commute in a jet, right?

Not that big of a deal. LeBron James can leave the game tonight, get his car to the private airport. The private airport's about 40 minutes from the stadium if you've got no traffic. LeBron James might be able to take a helicopter, I don't know, from downtown, from where maybe. And he can get home and then go to sleep and rest and then play against the miserable Wizards tomorrow. Only LeBron James can get away with this. Or James Harden, if James Harden is, let's just say the bad version of James. Hey Jack, this nice life must be a nice life for LeBron, right? Just to wake up, decide one day I'm going to play a game in the NBA on a Sunday, fly across the country, watch a football game, get back on my private jet, go back to LA, and then play against the hapless, miserable Washington Wizards. You never done anything like that, Jack? I can't say I ever have, no.

Okay. I wish, I certainly wish I could just hop on a plane and just, you know, watch a game and turn around and get my private jet and come back home. I wish, I wish. And there's not, he's the only guy that can, he would be criticized for this, right?

No, if he plays a crap game, maybe he doesn't even play tomorrow against Washington. I don't know. Yeah, probably. I mean, yeah, you never know. I mean, I kind of get it. I mean, he played in Cleveland for a while, so I mean, I could see why he wouldn't represent, you know, Ohio State, but... He's from Ohio, but I'm saying in a general sense... Right, exactly.

No, totally. It's not a great look that like, hey, dude, you got a game tomorrow. Like, you got to show up to this game. Like, you can't show up like, oh yeah, sorry. I'm not going to be able to play in the game. I was at the Ohio State Notre Dame National Championship game. Like, no pal, you're getting paid millions and millions of dollars to play basketball.

You better show up. Well, he's not exactly, you know, Joel Embiid. No, he's not.

He's, you know, he's not a young man anymore, but still. I guess, but it's against the Wizards. Look, for instance, if this was the Boston Celtics tomorrow... Oh, he would not be at that game. He wouldn't? Oh, he would not be at this game. If he was playing Boston, no way.

Yeah, that's crazy. I don't think there's another player. Well, LeBron is always criticized. It doesn't matter what he does.

True. And I guess if you're him, what's a, it's not like LeBron is going through TSA and getting scanned and checked and has to, he has to wait at the gate. No, he got private plane, two private, you know, no, no, yeah, definitely was not going through any sort of security. He walked right in and he's sitting in his suite right now watching Ohio State Notre Dame.

He's going to have no problem getting back. He's, he's, he's chilling. He's chilling. He's living a life.

He is. If only, now imagine being, imagine being a quote unquote regular fan and doing that. Let's say that you, you were in LA and you watch the Lakers and somebody, maybe there's a regular quote unquote fan who is maybe one. Imagine being at the game one Sunday, flying here to watch the game tonight and then flying to watch the Lakers again tomorrow. Like I'd be like, man, that's too much.

I don't want to do all that traveling, but that good. Yeah, that no, I, that even makes me tired even thinking about that. I would be exhausted. You'd have to take, is that for a game that took place last night, you'd have to leave in the morning in Los Angeles and then you'd get here to Atlanta and in like the afternoon and then you'd immediately have to make your way over to the football game. Like you don't even have time to be like, Hey, you know what? I'm going to check into the hotel and maybe there's a hotel across the street from the stadium, a couple of them by the way, but you don't have time to do nothing.

And then you immediately have to basically fly back on like the first flight, not the first flight, but you got to fly back from Atlanta in the morning to get to LA. It's just a good for LeBron. Good for him.

Must be nice being a a billionaire, less not, I can't say interesting, more puzzling. Uh, that's the guy from the Phillies, the superstar Bryce. What's his name? Bryce. Bryce Harper. You mean Bryce? Bryce Harper is there in a, uh, Ohio state. Yes, they did cut to him.

I saw that too. What's the deal with him? He, he's from Las Vegas. This guy didn't go to college. He went, he went straight to the pros.

I mean, what are we, what are we doing here? I don't understand the correlation there. Yeah, that's a little straight. I, I, I didn't know what his affiliation with either team was. I guess maybe he's just following Ohio state because they're, you know, like a pretty known college football program. But yeah, that's a little strange, but you know, sometimes celebrities just go to these games sometimes just to like be seen too. Like there are definitely some celebrities that you see who have the super bowl or the national championship game that have absolutely probably have no, they don't file these teams probably. And then there's, they're at these games just so like they can get the camera pan to him as well. Yeah. Must, must be nice. A noted Ohio state fan Harper, Bryce Harper has been around the Buckeyes multiple times this season.

He explained last season that his wife played soccer for Ohio state. Yeah. Okay. That is, there it is. Well, that makes a lot more sense then. Yeah.

Cause I'm like, this guy doesn't know what a college is. He's so good at baseball. Harper himself is from Vegas.

I know that. We've had a Bryce Harper here on the show before. He played one year of college baseball at the college of Southern Nevada. Other than his wife, he has no connection to the Buckeyes. Yeah. Good fan. I didn't even know he swung up that the college of Southern. He must've been 17 years old for a semester.

I don't know. Had that been the sky, a prodigy. Great.

Nice guy too. Bryce Harper is anyway, 21 to seven at a half time. The Ohio state university leading Notre Dame. This is going the way a lot of us thought it would go. And let's just say not good. Let's see what the future holds for Notre Dame in the second half.

It's the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break when we come back. Speaking of the future, we've had some teams that that have been eliminated here in the post season. What are their futures?

You know, we talked about it extensively with Cordell woodland as it relates to Baltimore. What's gonna happen in Los Angeles. People are asking Matthew Stafford about his future. And speaking of futures, we got a little bit of clarity.

I think when it comes down to Jimmy Butler and his future, yes, people are still talking about that. We'll give you an update on it all on the other side. It's the JR sport reshow coast to coast on the infinity sports network. The JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network.

855-212-4227. At this moment, this second, we're at halftime, national championship game, college football. We have Ohio State leading Notre Dame 21 to 7.

In a few minutes, Marco Belletti is going to come through and share with you more of the news in the world of sports. Unfortunately, for Notre Dame, this is exactly what a lot of people would thought would would happen that Ohio State the offense would be a little too much for Notre Dame and they wouldn't have too much at the fight back with Will Howard leading the way 14 of 15 passes completed to go along with two touchdowns, one to Jeremiah Smith, one to Quinn Sean Judkins, who also earlier in the game had another touchdown rush of nine yards. And so there are your 21 points accounted for for the Ohio State University. We have no idea what the future is going to hold for Notre Dame in the second half of this game. And speaking of futures, with all the football that we watched and witnessed over the weekend and the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, we don't have any idea as to what any of any of these guys futures will look like.

We talked about it earlier on in the show. Let's start off with this team, the Baltimore Ravens losing to the Buffalo Bills last night, 27 to 25. Mark Andrews, we don't know how he's going to bounce back. He's a professional pass catcher. What he looks like into the future.

We have no idea. We had a great chat with Cordell Woodland from one of five seven, the fan in Baltimore, and he expected the Ravens to basically run it back. I mean, there's not much else that they can do with the talent that they've acquired and where they're drafting. This is what it is for the Ravens stinks.

You think about the future. Some other teams. How about this squad?

This is a good game. Yesterday in the snow, we talked about the advancement of the Philadelphia Eagles. But what about the team that lost? What about the Rams?

All the tragedy that has gone on in Los Angeles with the wildfires and the team having to evacuate and go into Arizona to beat the Vikings and go back to California and going to Philadelphia. Matthew Stafford, this guy ain't getting any younger. He is 36.

He's not ancient, not by any stretch of the imagination. He's played 16 years in the NFL. Shout outs to a Georgia quarterback. No, George is not playing right now. Be nice.

It's just me speaking. Matthew Stafford has two years left on his deal. He is a former Detroit lion.

He won himself a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. Why they got Jared Goff the hell up one out of there. What happens with Matthew Stafford? Is he going to stick around? Is he going to leave? Is he going to retire? I'm like, oh, why are they asking him these questions on this day in particular? I give the guy a damn break.

Matthew Stafford was asked about his future, so he talked about it. Anytime you come up short, it's even tougher, you know, and so that's difficult. But I'm so proud to be associated with this group. And, you know, as far as my future goes, I mean, it's 30 minutes after the last game, so I'll take some time to think about it. But I feel like I was playing some pretty good ball. Okay, he was.

And to be honest, I get it. He's playing 16 years. Why y'all asking him this question?

Come on. You got two years left. Why is he walking away with that money or walking away from that money?

He don't need no more. When the money is done, it's done in the NFL. We just had Cam Newton basically said that on that television show that he was in.

We jumped from the boat to the helicopter. Think the man said, I have eight kids. Those NFL checks go a long way. They don't come anymore. I'm sure they do.

No, I'm sure that they did. Now, Matthew Stafford, does he have eight kids? I highly doubted him and his wife, who's always sitting around on the podcast. She's doing too many podcasts to sit around and have more kids. But besides that, Matthew Stafford, I highly doubt that this man is going anywhere.

Collect the checks. I mean, if you got two more years left on your deal, which you just kind of redid before the season started, take your two years, make your money. Who's that?

I'd be shocked. He said, coach Sean McVay in his own right. People are asking what his future looks like and where he's going.

Is he going to retire and just be on TV and why are you still coaching? He's like, man, I am happy with what I'm doing. And this is a great season. Now it's done. Love this group. And I'm just really sad that this journey is over. This was a special season.

It's as much fun as I've had, as much as you've ever wanted to do right for the people in that locker room. We've had a lot of special teams, but this team, there was something really special about them. And I think I'm up here pretty shocked because I know a lot of people didn't believe that we could come in here, but we had the full expectation to come in here. And I don't think anybody ever really expected the end of the season to be right now.

And the finality of it is, is tough for me to swallow because of the love and appreciation that I have for this group. Man, I didn't expect the Rams to even be in the post season. I got to give them credit for that. Think about Aaron Donald and this man, he had a, he's like on vacation. He's not even there with them. And so Matthew Stafford, I'd be shocked if he walked away from that money. And speaking of money, I got to give you this update. We don't know what this guy's future is, but we know he wants it reportedly to be in Phoenix. The angry guy in Miami, Jimmy Butler, the man who lost joy playing basketball for $48 million. The man who wants a contract extension and wants to decline his $52 million option for next year. Jimmy Butler's back has played two games for the Miami Heat, both on Friday, yesterday against the San Antonio Spurs. And we, we've gotten a confirmation on what we pretty much already knew that Jimmy Butler only wants to go to Phoenix to play with Kevin Durant and I guess Devin Booker, Brian Windhorst, he broke it down.

The guy from ESPN, listen, He had some different type of comments before the game. My favorites were, um, were operating within complexity. You can say that again, having covered this story for the last month, I can tell you it's complex. But my favorite was also my methods for doing it are really none of your business. So take that. Well, I will say this. I've been working the story for weeks with Shams Turania.

I've talked to people dozens of times. This is the only thing that you need to know. And this is what the Heat fans need to know. And certainly the Heat know Jimmy Butler's number one goal is not beating the Nuggets tonight. Not that he doesn't want to beat them. It's not scoring 30 tonight. Not that he doesn't want to score 30. His number one goal is to be traded and his actions will be aimed at getting himself traded preferably to the Phoenix Suns, period.

That's number one. Yeah, we know that he doesn't give a damn about his team or anybody else. He wants, he wants the Suns and he wants his money to sit. Now how that happens and where people get traded and if Bradley Beal wants to get traded, I don't know if he's sending people to Bradley Beal's house to kind of push them towards a trade.

I have no idea. And he sees where he's correct. His behavior and trying to push for a trade is nobody's business. I mean, he's making this money because he is a public figure. People looking, people are looking at you because you play basketball. You're not making this money because you're a great basketball player. You're making this money because you're a great basketball player and people want to watch, but you're also old and you've been hurt. And for a guy who makes his money doing what he does for the public, that's where the money comes from. You look like a jackass.

It's terrible. But if you're making that much money, would you care? 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. We are seconds away from the start of the third quarter and the college football playoff national championship here in Atlanta, Georgia, before Marco Belletti comes through and gives us the update. Marco, how do you feel about LeBron being in attendance? He can fly from L.A. to Atlanta and fly right back like he's crossing the street.

I mean, that's the beauty of being LeBron, no? No TSA, no wait line? Private jet?

No truck luggage? Nah, I don't think so. The traffic when he leaves the game?

Nah, I don't think so. Does he get, oh yeah, okay. You think he's sitting in traffic? You don't think there's going to be some lines that are opened up? Does he sleep well on a plane back?

Like, is it good? I'm pretty sure they got something comfortable for him, yeah. And he doesn't have those chambers and whatnot once he gets back to L.A. to make sure just in case he's got a little jet lag, I'm sure he'll be fine. Does he have to like get crystal on the way? Like he's going to be hungry. Does he get crystal?

I thought you were going somewhere else for a second there. No, you know what? I don't know. Let's put it this way, whatever he wants, he's going to get.

And I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to sit in line, nor go get it. Must be nice. Los Angeles on Sunday, losing to the Clippers. Today, cross country to Atlanta and tomorrow he takes on the Wizards. He could only do this against the Wizards, right?

Jack and I discussed it. Like you can't we can't you can't play the Celtics tomorrow and just go, well, you know what? Oh, yeah, let me get on a four and a half, five hour flight to Atlanta and, you know, and then just fly back to take on the Celtics. He's taking on the Wizards. You could. You just you're probably going to suffer for it on the court with the Wizards.

It's not going to be an issue. That's that's that's the beauty of it. And I said this is side note, but I was having this conversation just a couple of days ago, I think in the newsroom I said in all sports, is there a franchise that is more inept than the Wizards? I mean, honestly, is there a team that you could think of that's been so bad for so long with no chance of even possibly getting out from under than the Wizards? What a mess. I mean, Jets, Browns.

No, there's been flare ups. They go to the playoffs. There's there's 10 teams in the league that go to the playoffs. The Wizards can't even sniff it. It's really it's it's amazing.

Yeah, they're going to be bad for a few more years. So you put the lights on Jordan Poole. Good for you. Yeah. Who else? Jordan Poole. And what's the other one's name? What's the other guy's name?

I mean, just the idea that you made that trade for Jordan Poole was like, this is the guy we're going to build around. Really? But who's the other one? I don't know. I don't know. Is it a Kuzma? Oh, Kyle Kuzma.

They saw who they drafted. Those are the three Wizards that I know. You got me. I don't know. This is almost like taking a test where name the Wizards or name the Nets.

I think I'd fail them both. I don't know any of these people. Oh, my God. I'm starting to think that it's not true.

Some of them I think they're made up. And there's almost another there's almost another touchdown here. Oh, my God. This game's getting ugly fast. Yeah.

We're not even we're not even a full minute into the second half. Was that a run? That was a run. Yeah. That was my boy. Judkins again.

Yeah. What was that? Like like 60 yards almost to a touchdown. Oh, he had nothing but air and opportunity in front of him. Ran out of gas. Oh, my goodness.

If he didn't stop, he would have he would have walked right in the end zone. Yeah. Yeah. Ryan Day going to be a Magic City tonight. Well, he can't. He can't. He's a college coach.

Can't do that. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Imagine this back to LeBron stuff briefly because Ohio State just whooping that ass. Imagine if you are one of those players that we don't know on the Wizards and you're just in the hotel room in L.A. tonight and you're watching the national championship game, getting ready for the game tomorrow. And you see LeBron James in the suite. Like if you're that Wizards player, what are you saying to yourself? You got to go. Are we that bad that LeBron is just like, I'm just going to go across the country to watch a football game and then beat you tomorrow.

Like what do you what do you think about? I'd be like, man, we really suck. They already know.

But I'd be like, we suck. You're 100 percent right. Unfortunately, with Jordan Paul leading the way, wouldn't shock me if none of those guys are in the hotel room watching this game. They're somewhere else hanging out because they're going to a free trip to L.A. and I don't think they're too worried about it.

Yeah, they're in L.A. They're not watching the game. You're right. LeBron is going to beat a bunch of hungover teenagers tomorrow. And what have they played? I don't know. I don't even know how many more scores.

Well, this will be an easy one to dissect tomorrow. Looks like it's going to be an ass whooping. It's the J.R. sport re-show here on the Infinity Sports Network. When we come back on the other side, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. It is the J.R. sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.

You heard it from Marco Belletti in the last update. Ohio State now leads Notre Dame 20 to seven. About 11 minutes to go here in the third quarter. And this has just been. It's been ugly for Notre Dame. Every time Ohio State has touched the ball, they've scored. The most recent score. Quinshaun Judkins.

One yard touchdown run. This is. It's just ugly. To say the least.

Bad all the way around. I'm sure we got a lot to talk about tomorrow. Unless there's some miraculous comeback. You're having some conversations about Ryan Day and I don't want to say exercising demons following another loss to to Michigan. But we'll we'll talk about it tomorrow. Anyway, it's that time of the show.

It's the end of the show. And that means that it is time for a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not anymore.

But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.

And it was primitive and lousy. And we like the J.R. Sportbrief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the J.R. Sportbrief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is January 20th, 2025. And on January 20th, 2026, I'm sure we'll be able to talk about the beatdown that Ohio State gave Notre Dame. But it's not about the future.

It's about the past. January 20th, the year is 1980 in the Pittsburgh Steelers. They won Super Bowl 14 over the Rams.

The final score there was 31 to 19. Now, listen, this was the Steelers fourth title in six years. It's a dynasty. Terry Bradshaw won MVP 309 yards passing to go along with two touchdowns, including this one from John Starworth. I want you to take a listen to this courtesy of NFL Films. It's nice, right? The Steeler fans wish they were having this much success.

Only now they they wish. Anyway, January 20th, 1985, the 49ers, they beat the Dolphins in Super Bowl 19. They won 38 to 16.

Yep. This was the only Super Bowl that that Dan Marino got played in. This was the second Super Bowl victory for the 49ers. Joe Montana won MVP. You know what?

Let's listen to this. Also courtesy of NFL Films as Roger Craig punched one in for TD. You know what? Not everybody's gonna walk away with a Super Bowl. This is for you, Dan Marino. And that's for a lot of these current quarterbacks. Now, just because you're great doesn't mean that you're going to end up with a championship.

It's not for everybody. Hello, Lamar Jackson. Hello, Josh Allen. I know you're still playing, but everybody great ain't gonna win one. Hi, Charles Barkley. Separate sport.

January 20th, the year 2008. Oh, my God, I remember this game. Not a Super Bowl game. But the New York Giants beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. The final score 23 to 20 because of Lawrence times.

But this is what people remember about this game. Game time temperature in Green Bay was negative four. The wind chill made it feel like negative 24. And the head coach of the New York Giants, Tom Coughlin, his face was falling off. I thought that this man was going to freeze to death on the sidelines.

I know he didn't have feeling in his face had to be for about a month. But Lawrence times he hit the game winning field goal to send the Giants to the Super Bowl to take on the Pats. Listen to this. All right, here goes times again from 47 yards to kick the Giants to the Super Bowl. Snap is good. Kick on its way and over and does it have the distance?

It is good. Lawrence times is kick the Giants to the Super Bowl after missing at the end of regulation and times runs into the tunnel to outright and the New York Giants are going to Super Bowl 42 in overtime. They beat the Packers 2320.

Yep, that is the voice of New York Giants host Bob Papa. Look at Ohio State finally having some mercy. They kicked the field goal. Notre Dame is like why we kicking the ball on fourth down. They tried to go for it and they did it and Ohio State didn't score another TD but they kick a field goal. The score right now this minute against Notre Dame 31 to 7. Yeah, those were a few things that took place this day in sports history. And then yeah, of course, I had to throw in something that is taking place right now. 31 to 7 is your score here in the third quarter.

And at this point in time, I'm just saying to my king. I wish we could just sub a team out. Not possible. I don't know who the hell I would want to sub in the Georgia Bulldogs is me just being biased but nothing interesting about this game and I'm just happy for happy for Ryan day because quite frankly nobody is ever happy for Ryan day. The fans in Columbus are never happy for Ryan day. And if he loses to Michigan again next year, people will still be ticked off at the man.

That's just how the cookie crumbles is just how it goes 31 to 7 Ohio State over Notre Dame. I think this one is in the books just a hunch. Thank you so much to our guests. Hey our producer Ryan Hickey will be back with us tomorrow. He is at the game right now.

Maybe he can help Notre Dame come up with a strategy to win. We'll certainly talk with Hickey tomorrow about his full experience. We thank him for taking the time to join us earlier in the show. Thank you to Cordell Woodland for joining us to talk Ravens from 105 7 the fan in Baltimore and thank you as well to Grant Paulson from 106 7 the fan in Washington DC and the DMV to talk about this surprise run of the Washington commanders. Hey Jack, thank you for the time and thank you for the amazing job this afternoon and evening. Always a pleasure to work with you sir. Thank you. Thank you. You don't have any bright ideas that will help Notre Dame do you none?

The only thing I can think of is turnovers and capitalizing on those turnovers and scoring fast. That's the only suggestion I can think of. Yeah my suggestion is that they get back on the plane and leave. This game is. Yeah unfortunately I don't think there's enough time to do that but yeah no this game is a wrap. Yeah this game is done. It's done. It's done. It's done.

Yeah an amazing show. Listen people wherever you might be I hope you're safe and well and I certainly hope that you are warm. The chair sport re-show here on the Infinity Sports Network is done. I'll be back with you tomorrow 6 p.m. Eastern 3 Pacific. Ryan Hickey will be here as well. We'll chat with him about the game and I'm sure we'll have on some guests from the Ohio State University in Notre Dame. You can find me online at JR Sport Brief. Please be safe, be well, be smooth, be cool, be amazing. Bart Winkler coming up next here on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you Jack Hardy and thank you to you for listening.
