We got a lot to get into, a lot to talk about. First of all, Saad Youssef is going to join us. He'll be here next hour to talk about the Dallas Cowboys.
Why? Well, you probably heard the news. No big news, nothing official yet, but a Deion Sanders would take the job if Jerry Jones would offer it.
We'll talk about that in a few minutes. We also have James Jackson joining us from The Athletic. He'll be here to talk about the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler, whose suspension is supposed to end tonight. There's so much else going on in the world, the sports. Kevin O'Connell says that he plans on sticking around with the Minnesota Vikings.
Not quite a Mike Tomlin-esque in his delivery about not trading for him, but we'll hear from him. I know yesterday we talked about the Philadelphia fans and why the people in Philadelphia are so damn miserable. And we actually had a group of fans in Philadelphia doing something very amazing to help out folks affected by the wildfires out in Los Angeles. So I guess people in Philly, they are nice.
Some of them. We'll talk about that in a little while. LeBron James, someone affected by the fires he had to evacuate. Looks like his business partner is planning a big business deal with a new basketball league. Speaking of business deals, the New York Mets and Pete Alonso. Maybe they're not going to be together. Maybe the New York Mets are playing hardball because nobody else wants Pete Alonso. Got a little bit of clarity when it comes down to Bill Belichick's contract.
Apparently he hasn't formally signed it yet. What a lot of rumors about what the hell is going to go on with Belichick. And then unfortunately, earlier today, we learned about the passing of a major league baseball and a comedic legend and Bob Euchre. So we'll talk about Bob in a little bit as well. I want to give a big old thank you.
A, not just to you, everybody out there listening. You can find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. And if you want to give me a holler, you can do that too. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Thank you so much to our producer helping out today and tomorrow, Ryan Botcher. Ryan, how are you, man? Doing good. How are you? I got no complaints. Just good, not just. It's a good day, but be great if the Mets weren't dumb. OK. All right.
All right. We'll get we'll get into the you know, just briefly, quickly. What the hell are the Mets doing? What are they doing?
That's so dumb. They don't want to pay one of their stars and one of their franchise icons. They're working on the right deal.
I think he'll be back. We'll get into that later on. Is that cool, Ryan? We get into that later. That's cool.
That's cool beans. It's all about the art of the deal. It's all about business. Everybody has leverage and some people have more leverage than others.
And you've got to use it when you have it. And so we'll see what happens with Pete Alonso. We'll get into that later on in the show. Speaking of business deals, I told you about one that has not necessarily taken place, but was certainly and has been teased over the past several days. And that is the the aligning, the marriage between Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys and Deion Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes. Deion Sanders, who just completed his second season in Colorado, went to a bowl game.
Sorry, he lost down in San Antonio. He has a player on his squad. Most well, he's a he's a freak of nature. You think about Travis Hunter. This guy just won the Heisman, has the most diverse skill set that you could see in college football, playing on both offense and defense. You got a son who's a top quarterback prospect prospect in Chidor Sanders. And so Deion Sanders, he just completed what was a damn good second season leading the Colorado Buffaloes. You know, people had to stop and relax on the Deion is a whole lot of fluff, a whole lot of shine, no substance. He had football success. He's been able to bring in some new recruits as Colorado moves on into the future. But the future of Deion at Colorado is certainly up in the air right now, legitimately. Jerry Jones, as we know, and Mike McCarthy couldn't come to an agreement on a contract extension.
Big whoopty doo and big shock, right? Jerry Jones just being a jerk, had this guy sitting around and twisting in the wind all year long. Dallas Cowboys got hurt all over the place, including Dak Prescott. Dallas Cowboys are still able to go out there and win seven games. What a shock.
I didn't expect that. Cooper Rush thought they were just going to suck, but they did it and they couldn't come to an agreement with a contract. Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys.
And now he's gone. The Cowboys have no coach. And as we've discussed here over the past several days, Jerry Jones is all about excitement. He's about money as he should be.
Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise on planet Earth. Jerry Jones wants the big splash. He wants to make noise.
He wants the attention. He's built amazing facilities out in Frisco for the team to practice in. He had a store and a high school field for the kids to use.
And they just he got he built his own damn neighborhood. This man is not an idiot. He knows how to sell. He knows how to market. What he doesn't know how to do is win.
It's not something that he's done in 30 years, because it comes a point in time where you've got to be smart enough to get the hell up on out the way and let business people go out there and do work. And as we know, Deion Sanders, this man is a champion with the Dallas Cowboys. This man has been one of the most entertaining people on television covering football.
He had success at Jackson State and HBCU before he moved over and went to Colorado and took that job. And so, as we heard, Jerry Jones and none of this has been denied. So a fact is, well, Deion said he took the call.
Jerry Jones reached out to Deion Sanders and Deion Sanders put up a message online. He's like, oh, we had a lovely conversation and I love it in Colorado. When he left it there, he's not a dummy. He didn't say that he was going to leave. He didn't say that he was going to stay.
He didn't say a damn thing. Deion Sanders just said, I enjoyed having a chat with Jerry and I love it here in Colorado. That's, that's great. Man, you know what I love? I love, let me see, what's something that I love. I have to think hard about that.
Think of a place, not a person. I love Chicago. I do. I do absolutely love Chicago. Me saying I love Chicago doesn't mean a damn thing that I'm going there or leaving there. It's, it's flat.
It's open for interpretation. And Deion's not an idiot, but we got additional word earlier today. Ed Werder, who's based in Dallas and covers the Cowboys and is an NFL insider forever.
Shout out to Ed Werder. He had a chat with Dan Patrick and he told everybody, he took things a step further. This man, Ed Werder basically said if Deion was offered the job to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, that Deion Sanders would take it.
Listen to this. Jerry is interested. It was described to me as he's enamored with the idea. Obviously it's hard to imagine any coaching candidate who could create more interest, someone that Jerry could more sell to the fan base here, which needs to happen and make Jerry more money than Deion Sanders.
I mean, he won a Superbowl here as a player. So there are also people around Deion who tell me that he's being urged by his supporters in Colorado to take the job. Um, and that they believe if Jerry ever does offer him the job that he will take, man, take the damn job, please take the job. I mean, we got, we got all these other names.
They had a chat. Jerry Jones did a Rob Sala. That'd be cool.
Right? Defense would be good. You know, Rob Sala, he had to learn how to kiss some ass with the New York jets. He could certainly kiss and Jerry Jones ass. He could do that. Kellen Moore, bring him in, uh, former offensive coordinator, former quarterback.
Now helping the Eagles with their offense. Want to bring him back to Dallas? Sure.
Why not? They all know each other. You bring him in, he's certainly going to fall in line. He's going to be thrilled with the opportunity to be the boss. Well, not the boss.
That's wrong. That's Jerry. He'd be thrilled to be out there and be the head coach. He would kiss the ring of Jerry Jones.
I mean, damn it. We even got word that, that, that Jason Witten, he had a tight end. That name was a damn good tight end. This man has only coached at the high school level. Man, we've gotten conversation and word that Jerry Jones loves him. And if he had more experience, he would be the coach. Matter of fact, we learned that Jerry Jones told Mike McCarthy, Hey, you can come back if we, you know, settle on the contract. But by the way, you got to have Jason Witten on the team because he is your, uh, your replacement in waiting. Who the hell wants that?
I mean, plenty of people got to go to work. You got to train somebody that you work with and you got to help somebody and you know, they might take your job. Who wants to do that? Nobody, not Mike McCarthy, not in the NFL. It's cutthroat, but you can forget all of those guys. You can throw all of those names.
Just toss them out the window. Out the window. I need to see Deion Sanders coaching the Dallas Cowboys. I need to see it.
You know, I said this a couple of days ago. You either bring in Deion Sanders as the head coach or you as the Dallas Cowboys, you bring in somebody who just kisses Jerry Jones ass. And you know what I want?
I want, I want a good story. Yeah. I have no idea what the Dallas Cowboys are going to do in the draft. It was only last week that Deion Sanders was on ABC.
Good morning, America. And Deion Sanders told everybody, he's like, listen, people, the only condition that I will leave Colorado at this point in time would be to coach my sons, a shadore, a Shiloh, this offense and defense. I mean, how somebody squares that away?
I have no idea. You just heard Ed Warder. He took it, Edward took it a step further. He said, if Deion Sanders was offered the job, he would take it. He, Edward didn't say anything about Deion's children.
Nothing. We got a guy in the NBA right now. Well, I don't really know how much Bronny is playing.
Not, not much at all. Not for the Lakers, but we know LeBron James, one of his goals was to play with his son. Why wouldn't all things considered they both love football. This is his children. These are the kids.
Of course he wants to be around them. They could all make money together. Come on.
Why wouldn't they? Jackson state to Colorado to the NFL. I mean, this is absolutely amazing. I must say it again. I need to see Deion Sanders with the Dallas Cowboys. We know Dak Prescott is the quarterback and Chidor is not automatically going to end up with the Cowboys at number 12. The Cowboys would have to move up.
Dak is currently under contract, just signed a deal paying him $60 million a year. But Deion Sanders, I said this, you take one ego, his, and you take another ego in Jerry Jones and you put two egos in a room. I'm not going to say they canceled each other out. We know it's going to be entertaining and Deion Sanders can hold his own when it comes down to talking. I can hear Deion Sanders on a microphone right now today telling everybody, Oh, don't pay attention to what Jerry just said. I'm telling you this.
And I can see these two guys getting along until they can't stand each other. Sign me up for the drama. You know, during this, uh, I guess it's not a holiday break anymore. Today is January 16th. Damn. Where did the time go?
Where did it fly? But I remember over the holiday break, I rediscovered that general hospital is still on. I think all my children is still on. I believe I can't mix these things up, but the soap opera still exists. I haven't seen a soap opera in forever because I have not had a TV on in the middle of the day and forever. Certainly not on ABC or NBC, whatever the hell these things come on.
I need a soap opera. Give me Deion Sanders. And I actually think at the NFL level, I think he would be a good coach.
We can throw out everything he's ever said, because everybody's entitled to change their minds. At one point in time, about a year ago, Deion Sanders made it very clear, made it well known. I don't want to go to the NFL and coach these millionaires when I can stay in college and help shape the minds and futures of young men. That's a, that's an honorable thing to say.
And I get it. I mean, I know the NFL and the NBA are not the same thing. Look at what the hell is going on with Jimmy Butler. And I told you, we'll talk to James Jackson from the athletic about that in a couple of hours, but who wants to, who wants to manage and coach guys that are just spoiled brats, not Deion.
But if he can coach his kids, he'll go out there and do it. Kellen Moore. No.
Rob Salah. No. Jason Witten.
No. You know, we'll talk about Ben Johnson. Looks like he might be going somewhere else.
Maybe the desert. We'll talk about that as well. Deion Sanders and the Cowboys is a match made in heaven. Now it's Deion going to be the Cowboys coach for, for 10 years. I highly doubt it.
It's going to be to make money. This is like one of those shotgun marriages. You see somebody, you like them, you love them. You get married, consummate the marriage, and then you get sick of each other real fast. Now is that a year, two, three, four with the Dallas Cowboys?
I don't know. I can't see Deion sticking around coaching at one place for a long time anywhere, but I don't think it's the worst idea. Dallas Cowboys would make money.
That's goal number one, right? They'd garner attention that would make them more money that raised the valuation. That's what Jerry Jones wants. He'd be able to boost his ego. I mean, this man loves a good ego.
Scratches was on a radio and TV and in front of every camera possible all the time. Now the Dallas Cowboys going win with Deion. I think they'd be okay, but let's also be real.
Let's also be honest. Can the Dallas Cowboys be any worse than what they've been? And they've been pretty good.
Well, I mean, at least in a regular season, not this past year with the injuries, but 12 and five, 12 and five, 12 and five. Can they get any worse than what they were last year? They need an infusion of talent and unless Deion Sanders is going to go out there and jump into a time machine and return punts and kicks and play defense. He can help, but they need roster construction.
Sign me up for the soap opera. NFL needs it. We got winners in the NFL. We got the Kansas city chiefs. We got the Eagles. We got the lions. We got winners. We got Buffalo. We got, we got Baltimore. The NFL has winners.
We got losers. We got bad teams. Hello, Jacksonville, Jaguars. Hello, Browns. And hello to the New York jets. But what the NFL always has when they can always pour, put a little bit more something on there is with the Dallas Cowboys, because you can have winners and you can have losers with the Dallas Cowboys.
Thank you very much. They always come with the drama. The NFL needs it. They need a soap opera. Thank you to Jerry Jones. Now, one thing that a soap opera doesn't bring you is a championship and something that Dallas Cowboys are not familiar with over the last almost 30 years. Hey, but Dion, go there, please.
Dion in Dallas. Sign me up. I need a good soap opera to watch.
It's the JR sport free show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. You got an opinion. You got a thought.
You want to call me up? Is Dion to Dallas a good idea? Is it a bad idea? A good idea?
Is it a bad idea? Well, you know, Jerry Jones is just a walking bad idea, but it's bringing in Dion a good or bad one. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Dion to Dallas. Back to Dallas as head coach. Is it a good move or bad move? We have so much to get into. I told you side. You stuff is going to join us next hour to talk about this point. Exactly. This is a good or bad move.
We got a lot to do. Just getting warmed up. It's the JR sport free show coast to coast on the infinity sports network. You are listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport free show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. You just open up the show by filling you in on the news that released the report by Ed Werder based in Dallas. NFL insider, NFL reporter. He says. If Jerry Jones offered the head coaching job of the Cowboys to Dion Sanders.
That Dion Sanders would take it and I say good. Sign me up for it. I need the drama. I need the storylines. I mean, let's put the two egos together. It's like a boxing match. Not not saying that Jerry Jones and Dion Sanders would be out there scrapping.
But the back and forth and the quotes and the comments. One Dallas Cowboys season, which already feels like an eternity. It feel like five seasons combined just in one year. And then you have Dak Prescott just kind of shaking his head all the damn time.
Sign me up. The Dallas Cowboys need talent on the football field because they mean they haven't paid for it. They paid their big stars, not yet Michael Parsons, but they let other guys just kind of walk away. They need talent on the field and they need a new owner. And we know a new owner is not something.
I mean, God bless him. I hope he's around for a long time, but a new ownership change is not something that's going to happen. Unlikely. So just bring in Dion.
What's the worst that could happen? I mean, are there better football candidates where you just bring a guy in and X's and O's football, football, football? Of course you can.
But for drama and entertainment purposes. Oh man, you can't go wrong with Dion and then maybe they'll win. They can't have more disappointing results than what they've had over the past few years. Forget the record.
You think about the results and where they've been. It can't be no worse. Come on now. Dion and Dallas make it happen. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Let's hit the phone lines up. Let's talk to Marty. He is calling from Westchester in New York. Marty, you are on the Infinity Sports Network. What's up?
Yes. Good evening, JR. And I'd like to respond to the Dion Sanders situation. I think it would be a financier for the Cowboys and for the NFL. You know, you think about what the schedule would be like if the Cowboys did high at Dion. I mean, they would dominate prime time.
You know, Thursday night, Sunday night, Monday night, they'd be on a whole bunch of games of 425 in the afternoon. And also, we have to take into account that Dion is a winner. He was a winner as a football player. He won Super Bowls in Dallas and San Francisco and made a big difference with those teams. He even won an Atlanta Atlanta. They didn't go to a football, but he turned that franchise around. They made the playoffs a few times when he was with them. And as a coach, he completely turned the Colorado program around. They were chronic losers for a while.
And he did a great job with them. So I think it's a no-lose situation for Terry Jones and for the NFL. Well, in regards to entertainment value, but there's no guarantee that they're going to win. I mean, you could say Dion Sanders is a winner, which he certainly has been. He's had success as a player, which we know. He's had success as an athlete. He's had success as an entertainer, as a showman. Coaching in the NFL is different.
I think we all know that. I mean, we can look at other winners. I mean, well, we got Urban Meyer. He was a winner, right, in college. How did that work out for Urban Meyer in the NFL?
It didn't. We can say the same thing for one of the greatest coaches of all time, Nick Saban. Nick Saban will blame some of the some of the talent that he had to coach or who he didn't coach. Nick Saban didn't have success. So there's no guarantee that Dion going from college to the NFL is going to beget success.
Yeah, you know, I would agree with that. Obviously, there were no guarantees, but they can do a lot worse than Dion Sanders. I think McCarthy was kind of tired this past year. Obviously, they were hit hard with injuries and it was a bad scene. And he just looked like he was on his way out the door.
Yeah, we knew he was going to be gone from a year ago. Thank you so much, Marty, for calling from Westchester. Always a pleasure, Marty.
Take it easy, all right? Likewise. Appreciate it. Thanks, Dale. No doubt about it. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Yeah, we know there's only one thing or two things guaranteed. See?
Death and taxes. That's it. 855-212-4227. Let's go to Michigan and talk to Greg. Hey, Greg, you're on the JR Sport re-show. What's on your mind? Hey, JR. Mr. Positive. Thanks for taking my call, my friend.
Thank you. Before I get to me on Dion, I'm so concerned about the game of the century. You know, my bills and Lamar.
Let's just hope the bills can come through. But you got two great quarterbacks and it's going to be off the shizzle, my friend. Off the shizzle. Well, off the shizzle. I didn't expect that, but okay.
It could be off the shizzle. All right. Oh my God. I think Dion would be great. I think he's like Dan Campbell. He's got that swagger. He's going to say things. He's going to energize his teammates. I just feel that he could do it.
And you were right. You're spot on about these great coaches that haven't won. But there's something different about Dion and somebody like a Dan Campbell that just, people want to play for you. And they really want to, and they get along. From what I understand, I think, I know you could correct me, but is Dion a player's coach?
Where people really would run through walls? I mean, you think about, I think he takes on more of a, I don't want to say a fatherly role. That's an easy thing to say because he's coaching his kids. But he's very clear and straightforward. He's coaching in college. Everything I've ever heard about Dion is, hey, you guys got to go to class.
You got to do this. He's a teacher. That's what I hear. And obviously the man understands. He understands football.
He played at the highest level of it. JR, thanks for taking my call. Everybody go for your dreams. Hey, thank you so much, Greg, for calling from Michigan. You made it very clear. He is off of the, the shizzle. Well, the game is going to be off the shizzle. Okay.
Didn't expect to hear the word shizzle on the radio. Not, not this much. Certainly not this much.
And he's worried about the game between the Buffalo Bills and the Ravens. All right. Okay. I just want to know, sign me up. I mean, I just want all the entertainment. I don't care who wins. I don't got no, no horse in the race. I don't got a dog in a fight. I don't care. It doesn't matter to me.
I just want all the entertainment. We'll talk more about the Buffalo Bills and the Ravens. We'll get into that game tomorrow. Take a little bit of a, of a deeper dive on that side of things. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We're going to take a break. When we come back, there is a coach, not named Deion Sanders, who is coaching in college. And there are so many conversations as to whether or not he's even going to honor his contract. If he even signed it, I'm talking about Bill Belichick. Is he returning to the NFL or is this just a nasty rumor? Well, we got confirmation of what may happen by one of Bill Belichick's closest associates. We'll talk about that on the other side of the break. Is Belichick going to leave North Carolina high and dry? Or is he in it for the long haul?
As long as it can be for an older gentleman with a younger lady on his side. Anyway, we'll talk about Belichick we'll talk about Belichick on the other side of the break. I'll be back. It's the JR Sport Brief Show Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. And right now it is time for a news flash. Here he is, Rich Ackerman. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
It's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Amongst all the talks surrounding Deion Sanders and the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones, Bill Belichick is still, well, he's still around, right? So many rumors over the past week, especially earlier in the week with the Dallas Cowboys job opening up that Bill Belichick could bounce back into the NFL, that he could leave. We saw the Patriots job open up.
They had a snowball's chance in hell that that was going to have any type of reunion. We knew that was there for Vrabel. But with all the rumors about Bill Belichick returning to the NFL, we keep just getting reminded that he hasn't filled out his coaching staff. He hired two coaches today, one for the offensive line, one for special teams.
We know how much Bill Belichick loves his special teams. We've got rumors that this buyout Bill Belichick has to pay $10 million if he decides to leave and renege on his contract before June 1st. What's $10 million to Belichick? What's $10 million to an NFL team or an organization that wants to bring him in?
It's nothing. And then we get what I would say is slightly a little wilder of a story earlier today that Bill Belichick hasn't even formally signed his contract, that between Bill Belichick and North Carolina, the only piece of paper that they signed is pretty much an MOU, a memorandum of understanding that we are entering into this space to have negotiations. This is a non-binding agreement. And so we actually have a contract and pretty straightforward and pretty boilerplate for most people who do deals or say, hey, we want to move forward. It helps with a lot of things. As your commitment makes you not look like a jerk.
But at the end of the day, you can still do what you want. It's the precursor to a contract. Bill Belichick reportedly still hasn't signed his deal.
And so we're getting all these stories. Belichick hasn't hired enough coaches. Belichick hasn't officially signed his contract. These jobs are open in the NFL. Belichick is going to leave.
They'll pay the 10 million dollars. It's a drop in a bucket for an NFL franchise. And so all of this has been running rampant. Now, I've been of the opinion that I don't even think Bill Belichick is that much of a jerk to just leave North Carolina high and dry. Well, he just shows up last month, takes the job, is taking visits and visiting, you know, high schoolers at their house. And the next thing you know, Bill Belichick, after that fancy press conference, oh, I love it here. My dad was here.
I love it so much. Now we're to expect that Bill Belichick is just going to get up and leave. Well, I mean, this is not the New York Jets, OK? He was justified in doing that. I'm resigning of the H.C. of the N.Y.J.
Let me put it on a napkin and leave. I think Belichick is better than that now, right? He's not doing that to a college. To the New York Jets, yes. College?
No. And so how about this? Because Bill Belichick is busy, he's playing, I don't know, playing Call of Duty with a high schooler somewhere when he's not hanging out with his young girlfriend. Bill Belichick is busy. He's recruiting. He's putting together his coaching staff, even if he's doing it slowly.
And so his right hand man, Mike Lombardi, who we've had here on the show, he's basically the the GM of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was on TMZ. He spoke to TMZ today. And he basically said, man, all this Bill Belichick is leaving stuff. It's nonsense. Don't believe it. He basically said and listen to this. He said it was fake.
News. I think everybody is trying to make a story out of something that there's no story, you know, and I get that, you know, he is the greatest coach of all time and it makes sense that he would work in the NFL. But he has really decided that that's not what he wants to do. As much as people keep trying to place him.
The marriage is between North Carolina and Bill Belichick. And that's what he's committed to doing. He's on the road today. And he's committed to doing.
He's on the road today. And people say, well, you know, unless we hear from Coach Belichick, Lombardi's not can't be the mouthpiece. Well, look, I have worked with him. I'm with him every single day. Bill doesn't talk to the media very much.
So I will express to everybody how committed he is here as he works on other things. So to me, it's a story that won't go away because the media is convinced it itself to keep it going when a lot of stories are just not real. It's fake news, frankly.
Oh, well, damn. OK. Yeah, I agree with a lot of what he said. Except for the part about Bill Belichick doesn't talk to the medium.
What? What since since he started this job, since the NFL regular season concluded. Like Bill Belichick, I mean, for the past year. Since the New England Patriots and him, they parted ways.
Bill Belichick has done nothing but be a part of the media and talk to it, OK? This man is on broadcast television. He's on Pat McAfee. He's doing podcasts. He's on betting shows. He's Bill Belichick has just been he's been he's been pimping himself out all over media.
All over media. And I know we heard the comments from Bill Belichick last month. He's just like, I didn't come here to leave. He'd sound like a jackass if he did leave. He could have said this himself.
It takes two seconds. Bill Belichick already told us that he is now on social media. I wonder who helped him out. Who who set up these accounts for Bill Belichick? Probably his girlfriend. Insane, logical choice. Belichick, he's not leaving.
It sounds nice to think about him being a turncoat, but he's not. Who wants to turn their backs on college students? Who does that?
Oh, plenty of people do that. But anyway, eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven that's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Let's go to the phones. We got Connor here. Connor is calling from Ohio.
You're on the JR Sportbreeze show. What's up, Connor? My man, JR. How are you? How are you doing this evening? I'm excellent. What's up?
This guy. Basically. Beyond Sanders to the Dallas Cowboys is is honestly, yeah, that is just great for for media, and it would be so much content and for the exact reasons that you implied that it would be because of the essentially the two egos going up against each other. That'd be great to watch that kind of like it'd probably be a very download battle, but it would be a battle nonetheless. I would definitely expect Deon to push back against maybe some decisions Jerry Jones might want to make. It would overall be very fun to watch, I'm sure.
And I think that maybe if if Deon Sanders were to coach the Cowboys, I guess the question the question is, would he be able to bring them out of this, dig them out of this hole that they're in? Yeah. And I get the question of that is the answer that is sorry is maybe it really I guess it really depends. No, it's yeah, we know we know it's it's a big old maybe and a big old depends.
And thank you so much, Connor, for calling from Ohio. No doubt. Yeah, of course, there's a big old maybe. I'm not a Cowboys fan, like, sign me up for the drama.
That's what I said. We have no idea. I mean, weirder things have happened. If Deon Sanders is hired as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and they go on to win a Super Bowl in the feet, like wilder than I can't even say weirder, wilder things have happened. We don't know. Is it more likely than not, there's gonna be a lot of drama and soundbites and press conferences. And, man, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point there was like a media war between Jerry Jones and Deon Sanders. Sign me up. I'm here for it all. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Now on the Belichick side of things, like I said, I don't think this man is leaving. He'd be a massive jerk if he were to go out there and do so. He'd be like Urban Meyer if he were to go out there and do that.
Hey, you know what? Let's ask our producer helping us out today and tomorrow. Let's ask Ryan. Ryan, do you believe, hey, let's kill two birds and one stone here. Do you believe Deon and Dallas Cowboys would work? Would that be a good fit?
Media wise, yes. I don't think he would be a good enough coach to manage all the personalities. And I feel like he needs a well trained and well seasoned staff in the NFL that have coached before.
And I don't think he'll get that. Oh, absolutely. Well, yeah, it's tough. I think it'd be tough to work for Jerry Jones. Be tough to work with him or him being Deon Sanders.
I mean, come on. He got guys. He did get some great coaches in Colorado. He brought in Warren Sapp. Now, is Warren Sapp going to come in and coach a defensive line in the NFL?
I'm not so sure. I could see Warren Sapp putting hands on players to get him to act right. And then they also brought in the offensive coordinator. Well, I forgot the guy's name from the New York Giants. He used to be the head coach. He got he got the boot like a lot of the New York Giants coaches. But I think he might be able to put together a staff. Now, how deep it is it?
How deep it is? And what Jerry Jones wants to pay him? And are people going to be along for the Jerry Jones headache?
Not so sure about that. Now, on the Belichick side of things, you think Belichick is going to leave these kids behind? You think he's going to leave the college in the dumps in the dust? I think he doesn't see an opportunity to win now in the NFL.
I think he doesn't want to rebuild a franchise again. So he's waiting for his moment. So he's not going to leave these college kids right now.
Maybe a year later, maybe two years. But he's not leaving right now. Yeah. Bill Belichick.
He's not going to say screw them kids. Yeah. Former New York Giants coach Pat Shermer.
Yeah, offensive coordinator up in Colorado. So look, I mean, if somebody is willing to write a check in the NFL, then there's going to be somebody willing to take the job. I mean, let's be let's be honest. Yesterday, we talked about this when when I delivered the top six list. And I took a look at the best coaching openings right now. I took a look at the worst. We ranked them from six being the worst number one, you know, being the best. And I said the Raiders were the best job open just because of Tom Brady.
And I had the Bears right behind him because they have a quarterback and Caleb Williams. But the fact really is these these job openings are here because the teams stink. I guess tough to walk into anywhere and just be like, I'm going to come in and turn things around to Ryan's point. Like these job openings are here because the teams suck. And there's a reason why you have some of the best head coaching possibilities. Guys like Ben Johnson, offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions who've been lighting people up over the past couple of years. There's a reason why somebody like him can be picky and just, you know, not even entertain the New York Jets and New York Jets aren't dumb enough to say, hey, can you come in for an interview? Because they don't want to be they don't want to be embarrassed.
This is like this is like that guy in the back of the classroom eating glue, thinking that he's going to get a date with the prom queen. It doesn't work that way. Only in Disney movies. Sometimes eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We're going to take a break when we come back. I can't wait to tell you about this and trying to keep people from moving in college. Somebody has a brilliant idea. I'll tell you what it is and get some more of your calls. The JR Sport Reshow. Don't move.
