It is the JR Sportbrief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. Where else would I be on a Thursday but here? Because this is what I do every single weekday, starting at 6pm Eastern, 3 Pacific. I appreciate you, everybody on the roads, the highways, the side streets, the delivery drivers, the hospital workers, the chefs, the cooks, the bartenders, the cleanup people, the police, the fire department, the government people, people protecting us, people serving you, and you just out there chilling, getting ready for the weekend. I'll be hanging out with you for the next four hours. It's my last day for the week because it is a holiday weekend.

Sorry about that. I'm being joined by super producer and host, Ryan Hickey. He's in beautiful New York City. You can always listen to the show on the phone. The free Odyssey app, A-U-D-A-C-Y. You can always listen live on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. And if you have Sirius XM, it's 158.

And if you have a smart speaker, you talk to it and you ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. Listen, I'm getting you all set and ready for the weekend. Yeah, we got Colorado, the Buffaloes. They're going to play some football in about two hours. Let's see what Dion and the folks do. The speed of college football.

How about this? We have an Emmy Award winner multiple times. We have a six time New York Times bestselling author who's going to join us in 20 minutes and we're going to talk about the changing landscape of college football, especially with the beginning of the season upon us.

Arman Kattan is going to come through and join us. I'm sure you've seen him years and years and years on HBO Real Sports. You've seen him on CBS.

You've seen him everywhere. We have another guest who's going to join us next hour. Some guy named Steph Curry got himself a contract extension, the greatest shooter of all time. We're going to talk to someone else who knows a thing or two or three or four or five or six things about shooting a basketball.

Sonic's legend. And Marksman, one of the greatest shooters the NBA has ever seen. Dale Ellis is going to come through and join us next hour. And as I sit here in the studio, I got to tell you, it's not just all about football, whether it's college or the NFL. I love tennis. The U.S. Open is going on right now.

Lucas Weisz is going to come through and join us from the athletic. Yeah, nothing better for me than on a Labor Day weekend, sitting back and watching tennis. If I was in New York, I'd take my ass to Queens right now. Well, at least, you know, the tennis center. You like Queens? You like the Mets? You like Queens? I like Citi Fields.

Yeah, I've been out and about in Queens, the city too much. But the stadium is nice. The tennis center from the outside.

I've never been in, but on the outside looks really nice. Thing is big as hell, isn't it? Oh, it's massive. Two massive stadiums, tennis courts all around.

It's cool. Yeah, the people out there are rowdy. It's great to have the U.S. Open because it's not as buttoned up as Wimbledon, the French Open, the Australian Open. We got the fun one here in America. Lucas Weisz is going to come through and join us in a few hours. So yeah, we got a packed show. We've had a packed news day as well. Found out about a new quarterback. Found out who still isn't at work. Chase, Ayuk.

It's just a couple of the names of dudes who have not shown up. And so we'll talk about it all. What a day. Hickey, how are you? You doing good otherwise?

You straight? Yeah, oh yeah. Doing well. I hear Breathing Upright College Football is officially back as I'm watching Rutgers and Howard battle it out. So let's go.

Let's have ourselves a Thursday. Oh my God. Did you say Rutgers and Howard? Yeah. You don't know what the spread on this one is? Uh, 35? Wow. You're a marksman.

35 on the dot. I hit it? Oh my God.

Come on. And I don't even gamble. What am I doing? Is this something that I need to get into in life? Yeah, I think Vegas should call you up here.

Start setting some lines. Oh my goodness. Whoa, whoa.

Hickey, I'm shocked. When I lose my house, my home, my car, my family, do I blame you for advising me to do this or what? No, I wouldn't say you gamble.

I thought you were going to be the line setter, you know? Oh no, I want to gamble. Oh, okay. Well, if you do end up on the losing side, which everyone does, don't blame me. Don't blame, okay. I promise I will.

Blame the coach or the player. Okay. All right, I'll do like everybody else. Yell at the people on the field who have nothing to do with me and my gambling issues. What a world we live in. Anyway, what a world. Hey, how about this?

We talked about this issue yesterday. The Pittsburgh Steelers decided the name of starting quarterback. It was Russell Wilson over Justin Fields. And that left one team that was going to make its announcement today. The New England Patriots.

What the hell were they going to do at the quarterback position? Well, we found out today. And I'm not no amazing Kreskin.

I'm not Miss Cleo. I cannot predict the future. But come on, we all knew it was going to be Jacoby Brissett. Can't have Drake May running around out there being the sacrificial lamb. And so Gerard Mail dropped the news and he told everybody why he chose Brissett over May.

There are a lot of factors that led to this choice. I think, you know, the hard part is thinking in the short term and the long term at the same time as an organization that we feel like Jacoby gives us our best chance to win right now. Oh, come on. This is not about winning. This is not a does he give them the best chance to win?

Yes, he does. Because Drake May doesn't have the experience yet. This is all a part of the process. This season isn't about winning. Yeah, you want to develop a winning culture.

You want to develop winning habits. But this season is about Drake May. You just have to watch Jacoby Brissett get ripped apart by the Lions before you throw Drake May out there with them. Jacoby Brissett talked about this.

The man drafted by the Pats in 2016 has been a career backup since back with New England after spending last year with Washington. Jacoby Brissett said, oh, yeah, me and Drake May. Yeah, we're competitors. We competed real good. We've done a good job of both competing and I think we've both done a good job of helping each other out.

And that doesn't change now. And I think we're obviously working together as far as getting ready to do this together. But the competition is still there and the helping of each other won't stop. The helping of each other won't stop. I like that. That's what teamwork is all about.

The helping of each other will not stop. But the team behind them, the other 52 guys. They not good.

Collectively, they are not good. But Gerard Mayo already skilled in speaking to the media. I think I've heard him say more words to the press than Bill Belichick has said in 20 years. Gerard Mayo says the whole team is here with Jacoby Brissett. You know, you got a guy right here.

You got a guy right there. We're 100 percent behind Jacoby. I had an opportunity to talk to Drake. I had an opportunity to talk to Jacoby separately and also together. And I feel like we're all on the same page from an organizational perspective.

The hard part is thinking in the short term and the long term at the same time as an organization that we feel like Jacoby gives us our best chance to win right now. I like this, man. This is like a warm and cuddly version of the New England Patriots. People like each other. Folks are getting along.

The quarterbacks are doing Kumbaya songs in the classroom. This is great. And Drake May just got to the party. They picked this man number three overall, snatched him up out of North Carolina. He's 21 years old. This man has a ways to go. And so how does he feel knowing that he won't be starting?

Listen to what he said. Yeah, I think it's been great. I think just getting to know the offense. I'll learn from guys who have been in the offense. And from here, just do whatever I can to help this team win, like I said.

And then just take the young guys. I think that's some of my role. I can help JP and some of the young offensive linemen and Drake and just kind of do anything I can as a free quarterback.

I learn the system, prepare like I'm the starter and just treat it like that. Are you disappointed you're not the starter? I wouldn't say disappointed. Obviously, there's two ways to look at it. Obviously, I want to play competitive edge of me.

But at the same time, 110 situation, you know, kind of what's coming in here and Jacoby's going to be in the offense and you got the refs, you know, the ones all camp. So I can't really say I'm disappointed, but at the same time, I want to be playing. Of course he's disappointed.

What's the difference? I'm not disappointed, but of course I want to be. Then you're disappointed.

You just can't say that because you sound like a sore loser. And he doesn't have a damn thing to worry about because he's going to get his day. He's going to get his chance because Jacoby preset. He may not last three games or four games. Jacoby preset is there to teach and show this is what you don't do. This is what you need to be aware of. Like the two ends on the side that are getting around our tackles with ease.

That's what you need to get rid of the ball fast, quick before you get destroyed. The New England Patriots. I think between them and the Carolina Panthers, very likely to be the two worst teams in the NFL. At least Carolina, they've seen their quarterback last year. And if he sucks this year, it's curtains for him.

Jerrod Mayo made it very clear. We got 17 games. I am not looking at Drake May to start any of them. Wow. I don't want to get into hypotheticals. You know, we can't go into the season saying, well, he's going to go X amount of weeks. Like, look, as long as Jacoby is going out there performing the way that we all have confidence in him doing, he'll be our quarterback this season. Uh huh. Uh huh. Hickey Drake May starts seven games, eight games. Feels like around Thanksgiving. Right.

So what would that be? About seven, I think, roughly games left in the season. I like that number.

Give or take. Yeah. Good for him. I hope he's not beat to a pulp. And I'm not going to do that.

That's just in bad taste. I was going to say what what gets what's what gets injured on Jacoby Brissett? Like he's been nursing a bad shoulder already. Like if he has a bad shoulder going into the season.

I don't know. It wouldn't shock me if we saw a Drake May earlier than that. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw him throw a pass in September, even if he had to temporarily relieve Jacoby Brissett. This this is not good. This is not going to be a good look for the Patriots. The only time I watch the Patriots is to see how bad they look anticipating nothing else.

Congratulations. At least you got a quarterback. He's the backup for now.

Don't let the guy get destroyed. Anyway, speaking of the the AFC East. At least they know what the hell they're doing right with the with the quarterback. The Jets know what they're doing with quarterback. But the Jets got a guy who still hasn't shown up to work. Hassan Riddick, which was traded for a third round pick that becomes a second round pick if he plays. He still hasn't shown up to work with the New York Jets. And so today, for the first time, the general manager, Joe Douglas, he gave Rob Salah a break. He addressed this situation and he says, when it comes down to Hassan Riddick, not a damn thing has changed.

Listen, nothing changed from our end. Obviously, a ton of respect for Hassan and awaiting his arrival. And, you know, looking forward to when he does, he's going to be welcome with open arms.

You look silly. You traded for a guy who wants a new contract. And Hassan Riddick was great last year, 11 sacks on the Eagles, but he wanted a deal. And then y'all y'all feel like he lied or his team lied and then he feels like you guys lied. And now he's not at work. Is he going to show up? Joe Douglas is what he said about that. I can't lay out any expectations right now. But, you know, when when when he does arrive, we're all going to be excited.

OK. So is this your choice or his choice? Tell me, Joe Douglas.

The ball's in their court. And, you know, whenever whenever he's ready to come here again, we can't wait to have. Oh, Joe Douglas is so enthusiastic about speaking to the media. Well, this is what the hell I want to know. We heard the reports. Seemingly, the Jets feel like he reneged on the contract, his representatives reneged on the contract. Well, did he do it?

Did you do it? Who screwed up? Who's telling the lie? Where's the miscommunication? Hey, Joe, do you feel like his agents are screwing around and breaking their promises? I'd say that, again, from our standpoint, you know, we've been really clear and direct with with our communication. And, you know, again, a lot of respect for for the agent, a lot of respect for the player.

And, you know, I have faith that this will all give results. Huh? The answer is they went back on their work because it's the Jets. Why not try to screw the Jets over when they did something stupid like this?

You couldn't come to terms on an agreement before you traded for the guy. It's the most New York Jets thing ever. It's Bush league. And I don't know if a son Redick is going to show up.

I don't. Maybe he will, because he doesn't want to incur the fines. He doesn't want to lose a year service time. The guy is not getting any younger. He turns 30 in September. I think he'll show up.

Maybe it'll take a game or two. That guy's going to show up because he wants his money or either that or he's going to force a trade. Just may have to trade a guy who never played for sounds eerily reminiscent for a coach that decided not to play for them either.

Some guy named Belichick. It's the JR Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We got a lot to do. I told you, Sharpshooter NBA legend Dale Ellis is going to join us. Lucas Weese is going to come through from the athletic to talk to us about the U.S. Open. But in five minutes, when we come back, we're going to chat with someone who has a lot of Emmys, a lot of New York Times bestseller awards.

This man's name is Armin Kattan. Why? Because he has a new book out.

It's called The Price. And it takes a look at the changing landscape in college football. Happy Thursday.

We got a lot to do. Armin Kattan on the other side. The JR Sportbree show. The Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sportbree.

It's the JR Sportbree show coast to coast here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. College football season is upon us. And we certainly know it's a season of change. It has been a season of change.

And right now we're being joined by someone who is helping to document the change via a new book that he co-authored called The Price. What it takes to win in college football's era of chaos is an 11 time Emmy winner. He's a six time New York Times bestselling author. You know the man. You've seen him.

You've read his work. It is Armin Kattan. Armin, thank you for the time. Hey, JR. Nice to meet you, man. It's a pleasure.

Thank you so much. First question for you for all of the books that you have put together and wrote and everything you've done. Why now to put this together with John Talty? Well, it was a landscape that was just wide open. And, you know, I had done a book called The System back in 2013 with Jeff Benedict, which we thought was kind of the state of college football at that time.

And when you look at what's going on right now in big time college football, the system was child's play compared to what we're witnessing right now. So for me, as an investigative reporter in the history I've had in television and Sports Illustrated and other places, this was a big canvas to be able to paint on. And we had a lot of people that were interested in talking to us behind the scenes access driven by characters.

And for me at this stage of my life, this is the kind of landscape or portrait I like to paint on. Armin Kattan is joining us. When you think about everything that you garnered and learned, the interviews, everyone you talked to, what really has blown the lid off to this inflection point of college football? Was it the transfer portal? Was it the lawsuits leading the NIL at O'Bannon? What got us to this point?

Well, JR, I think it's everything. The book is called The Price for a Reason because it's not only the financial implications, the absolute avalanche of money that's come in to big time college football, billions of dollars. But what John and I found was there's an emotional, a physical, a psychological price that's being paid by people who love this game, who are committed to this game.

It's their livelihood. But it's exhausting for them right now because of the NIL, because of the portal, because of realignment, because nobody knows what the future of college sports holds. They're just kind of hanging on for dear life.

And that's a tough place to be in. The sport has never been more popular. It's never been more exciting on the field, certainly with the playoffs coming.

But the uncertainty in the future is complicating matters for people really beyond belief at this point in time. Well, to your point, we've seen coaches already leave. Nick Saban is gone. On the basketball side, we see Coach K has gone. What does this say to you about how the coaching landscape will continue to change?

Well, I think the head coaches, and nobody's crying any rivers for them right now because, you know, Nick was making north of $11 million a year. But Jay Wright at Villanova, he left, I know, because people in my neighborhood know Jay very well, and I've known Jay. He left because he just didn't want to deal with all the drama anymore. And when you have someone like Nick Saban who decides to leave the sport, and he's made allusions to it because he had lost control of a program and programs that he has had control for 50 years of his life. And when Ms. Terry, his wife, who I know very well, said to him, what are we doing this for? What's going on here?

Why are we doing this? When they lost to Michigan in the semifinals at the Rose Bowl in the college football playoffs, and Nick came back to Tuscaloosa after spending a few days decompressing at his $18 million estate in Jupiter, Florida on the Atlantic Ocean. Normally, he would have had players in his office lined up saying, Coach, what can I do in the offseason?

What can I do in the development program to get better so I can play next year or get better next year? No, he had a line of players out there saying, Coach, if I don't get more money from NIL, I'm going to the portal. And Nick was all about control. So that, I think, was the tipping point for him. And then you look at Jim Harbaugh in Michigan, who was squeezed between a university absolutely loved, a Michigan man to the core.

String relationship with Ward-Manuel, yes, but no question in my mind, a vendetta by the Committee on Infractions on Jim, trying to make an example of him, realizing that there was no way on God's green earth he was going to survive as we've seen now with the four-year show-cause penalty, which is beyond belief to me. So he goes to the Chargers. So what do we have? We have two of the most prominent singular figures in college football today, not in the game. What does that say about the chaotic state of college football? I think it says quite a bit at this point in time.

Armand Contain is here with us, co-author of The Price. You talk about The Price and you think about the changes and the money, whether it's the players, the sponsors, the sponsorships. Are we looking at the future of college football as being the NFL junior or are we already there? Well, we're pretty damn close, I'll tell you that.

We're on the verge of that. And that's the big question. And John and I write this chapter in the end. It's the afterword called The New Model. And what is The New Model? Well, we have four or five different iterations of that model.

I don't think anybody knows what The New Model is going to look like. But what I can tell you is, J.R., is this book, if you have a narrative theme through it, through the characters that we've developed, there's a few things that stand out. One is wanton greed. The other one is self-interest. Wanton greed would be like, okay, the destruction of the PAC-12.

What happened there? Some of those schools believe that the PAC-12 was worth $50 million a year in media rights money, and that's just ridiculous on so many different levels. And then you have self-interest. And if there isn't an epiphany at some point in time where the powers that be in the NCAA, and I'm a believer in Charlie Baker and his pragmatic approach and trying to find a framework here. If they don't think about the greater good, what's best for everybody instead of maybe what's best for the Big Ten or the SEC, you could very well have an apocalyptic event that just blows up college football in a way that nobody would expect. So I'm hoping as we look into the future, and frankly, after all the reporting that John and I have done, my crystal ball is a little fuzzy right now. I don't know what's going to happen, but I do know if people don't think about the greater good, what's best for the game and not for the individual conferences and schools, then we're looking at an Oppenheimer kind of an event.

Armand, final question for you. We see the NFL now allowing private equity. We certainly see everything happening with the Saudi investment fund. Is there a larger concern that things could dive a little bit deeper into the abyss?

Yeah, I don't know. I think right now, everybody that loves the game so much is so uncertain as to what the future is, and that's troubling. I love college football, and I don't think, at this point in time, I think college football is as popular as it's ever been. It's never been better on the field.

There's never been more rabid interest by the fans. You have the college football playoffs coming up. That's the field. What's happening off the field in the 40 years that I've been covering college football, I've never seen it as unsettled as it is right now, as troubled as it is right now. And I just hope that the powers that be, the people that have the stakeholders, the Greg Sankeys of the world, the Tony Petittis in Big Ten, Charlie Baker at the NCAA, you know, wise up one day and go, okay, what's really important is the sport itself, not just our individual concerns.

And if that doesn't happen, then if you're looking two or three years down the line, I don't know what it's going to look like. And frankly, it's a little frightening at this point in time, JR. Well, Armin, we got a lot of listeners who certainly love college football. Where can they find out more information on getting their hands on the price? Well, it's all over Amazon right now. We're kind of blown up. And we've had great reviews and a lot of good things said about it. So Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, Amazon, all those places where, you know, books are sold.

And we got a big boost from Apple today where they said it's one of the top five books of the week. So John Talcy and I, who have poured a lot of our life into this thing in the last couple of years are, and John is a little younger than I am. He's like half my age and he reminds me a lot of me. So he's texting me. He's like, Oh my God, you know, what's going on?

I'm like, John, we're going to be fine. Everybody that's read this book so far has really liked it. And it's, JR, of all the books I've done, I will say this, I've done, this is 13. I've had six New York Times bestsellers. This is one of the best books I've ever done.

And I'm really proud of this one. Well, Armand, I appreciate you taking the time to come in and talk to us about it. And where can people follow you as well? Are you into the social media?

Are you sick of it? I'm a little, I'm an Armand Kataian at, you know, on X Twitter guy, you know, but I stay off Instagram, not on Facebook and those places. So people, but if they want to find me, there's an email address there. And, you know, I say things on Twitter. I'm very careful about what I say, but I'm really proud of this one. And I got to say, you got a good thing going here, my brother.

You got some nice stuff going. I looked at you today. I wasn't quite sure who you were. And then I found out who you were and I'm impressed.

It's got a nice thing going there. Well, thank you, Armand. I try to break things every now and then. I appreciate it. Yeah, you do. Yeah, I can see that.

That's nice to see because there's not a lot of that going on these days. Well, I'll be in touch with you. I will holler at you. Enjoy the weekend.

Enjoy the college football. And we'll catch you on down the line for the next book when you're up to New York Times bestseller number eight. Okay.

I would like that. One more. No doubt about it. Have a good weekend, Armand. Thank you. Appreciate it. That, Armand Kataian, a co-author of The Price.

What it takes to win in college football's era of chaos. Co-authored with John Talty. Thank you again, Armand.

And nice words as well. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break.

When we come back on the other side, I want to talk to someone who is, I guess he's glad that he gets a break himself. An opportunity to actually run the whole football team. A quarterback. I'll tell you who it is on the other side. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.

It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you to Armand Kataian for joining us in the last break. Eleven-time Emmy Award winner. Six-time New York Times best-selling author. Current co-author of The Price.

What it takes to win in college football's era of chaos. That was a good chat. Hickey, that was a good chat. I liked that. That was fun. That was.

It was good, but also kind of sad. Oh, the context of how college football is a big old question mark right now, right? Right. I mean, talk about, you know, basically an Oppenheimer-like event happening. Just a big explosion that does not sound good for the sport at some point here going forward. Concerning, for sure.

Yeah, very. And here's the thing. Nobody has an answer.

Not that anyone is. There's never any answers in life. OK, we know that no one has like the final answer. But the fact that there is so much uncertainty in college football right now is concerning. And it's not just about the rivalries that have been lost. It's it's not about coaches moving or conferences dissolving. It's all of it.

It's just change in every place and every aspect. And not that I expected Armin to have the answer, but that there's a larger concern by me. I mean, we got to talk. We talk about leagues like the Big 12 and like, how can we raise money? Well, we can sell a portion of it. Whoa, what? Like to who? A bank?

A private equity fund or group? This is this is NFL junior. Like the days of what we know of college football is done. I've been always been in favor of the players getting paid and getting their share, their piece of the pie. And let's be real. That hasn't even taken place yet. They just have the ability and the opportunity to make money.

But the players aren't participating in the pie like a lot of the other pros are. And let's let's be real. That's that's, I think, the next step.

Of course, the schools, the conferences, they're going to do everything that they can to make sure that that doesn't happen. It's like, hey, we threw you a bone. You're in a video game now. Here's six hundred bucks. Oh, you can do here. You take a car.

You got a scholarship now and you got a car. Yeah, sure. That's fine.

That's all good and great. There's so much more money out there. Wait until the players get ticked off some more.

Wait until they they try and try far harder and more so to go out there and unionize. There's some big issues here. There's a lot of change and it is certainly in chaos.

And thank you again, Armin Kattan, for joining us to talk about his book, The Price. Speaking of chaos, you know, the NFL season about a week and a half away. Well, not even hickey. Not even. Damn it. We got about a week Friday.

What do what do we do? Not even next week. We're a week away. I was about to say a week from today, Thursday. Don't don't rush ahead to Friday. Wow. I'm thinking about that Brazil game like I'm going to be there.

That's that's what I was thinking about. Yeah. Look, man, the season is here. We got the Philadelphia Eagles. They're going to be down in Brazil. I got to see when they leave.

Not that I'm going to go out there and join them. Things start here next Thursday. Ravens and Chiefs. And Friday, we got the Packers and Eagles. Hickey, that guy was it last night, two nights ago, three nights ago, the guy called and he's just like, JR, what do you think about the Packers and the Eagles?

I'm like, can we get there first? He wants to know the point spread. He did. You're right. But you accurately gave on Rutgers Howard.

Maybe you could, you know, also set the line for Packers Eagles. I think Vegas is waiting for you to give your analysis first. Listen, I don't need to I don't need a damn thing to do with Vegas. OK, you see that viral video that the guy knocking two people out in the lobby, the MGM? No. Yes.

Just I don't know. Boy, it's danger. You know, Vegas is a boxing hub. It's a fighting hub. Vegas is probably one of the last places in America that you want to pick a fight with a stranger in a casino. Because, A, if they're in a casino, you know, they don't just let vagrants walk through casinos just doing what the hell they there's a lot of vagrants. But there's always fighters and MMA guys and trainers. And it does. They don't have to be Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor.

You just got to watch who you pick a fight with. Hickey, this dude cleaned out two guys by himself. One, two, pop, pop. Done. Out. On the floor.

Cold. Done. Damn. I mean, you would think you could identify someone who looks like forget about knowing who they are. Just this guy looks like he can throw a punch or is pretty jacked. Maybe we'll watch ourselves.

Vegas is teeming with guys who can just throw punches where the super tight, tight jeans is super tight. Look at me. I'm what is this? What's the word?

Judging the book? But what a stereotype. Yes, I am. Big time.

Yeah. They got the big old muscles popping out the tight shirts. Got them clean, super clean haircuts.

Got the designer shoes on. And I don't know, they look like they got the big traps, too, and they got the big traps that, you know, they could take a punch. You got to be careful. Cauliflower ear to dead giveaway.

Oh, my God. See that you turn the other way. If you see somebody with cauliflower, you just leave. Leave the vicinity. You know what? I'm going to see now they will pop your head off your shoulders.

There's just leave them alone. And no matter what size either. Frankie Edgar from New Jersey, a famed UFC fighter. I know Frankie is smaller than I am.

I think he actually went to Rutgers, too, by the way. Man, I'm messing with Frankie. I get no damn fight. Not at all.

Nope. Mighty Mouse. Call him Mighty Mouse for a reason. Speaking of viral videos.

I'm telling you about the worst things on the Internet right now. Did you see the small guy like beat the living hell? He was a jujitsu guy.

Look how smart I am. Jujitsu guy. It was a jujitsu guy.

And he choked out some dude who was like Shaq's eyes, something like that. I didn't see it, but I'm not surprised. Oh, what happened? We have some breaking news. Oh, did somebody show up to work? Yes. Do you want to guess who?

OK. There's only but three guys. Brandon, are you? That is him. Brandon, are you showed up to work?

Oh, my God. He showed up to work because he has a new contract. He got paid, according to Adam Schefter. Breaking news, four year, one hundred and twenty million dollar contract extension for Brandon and the 49ers.

Brandon, are you? You said it's four years. One hundred twenty.

One hundred twenty. So that's thirty a year. He's making thirty mill a year, which he's making less than a Monroe St. Brown. What the hell took so long? This is pretty much where he would have been slotted anyway.

Like, what are we what are we doing here? We got the top wide receiver in the NFL right now in Justin Jefferson. He is making a thirty five per. And we know he wasn't going to make that. I mean, we even got a story about Jamar Chase. It reportedly wants one cent more like this is. Well, one less thing for the forty nine is to worry about Brandon.

I think is on the contract. Everybody yelling at me about Ricky Pearsall being the offensive rookie of the year. You can all take that and do something with it.

But that's that's some good news. Justin Jefferson making thirty five. C.D. Lamb, a thirty four. A.J. Brown, thirty two. Oh, so he's making the same amount as a Monroe St. Brown. So Tyree kill a Monroe St. Brown. And now Brandon, I you are making thirty million per.

And I'm sure that Tyree kill is still awaiting to have his contract adjusted. Wild. Good for him. All that complaining and whining. The social media nonsense. The deal is finally done. Picky, it feels kind of.

I can't say. It's breaking news, but it's kind of like, OK, well, just fine. It's not that we expected this, but it drained and dragged on for so long. It's like, OK, fine. Good. It's done.

Let's keep it moving. This is a relief because this was the outcome all along. They never were. This is a team you could I would say the 49ers right now are the best team in the NFL in terms of roster wise one to fifty three.

They are. This is Super Bowl or bust. They were never going to trade a one a type receiver for draft picks. They wanted some sort of player equal in return. And they were not going to get that, whether it's from the Browns, the Patriots, etc.

And the teams that I wanted to go to did not have the talent that that San Francisco would say yes to in a trade. This was the outcome all along, just like C.D. Lamb getting extension with the Cowboys all along.

It's frustrating that it gets dragged down and takes forever to get there. But it's a relief that we can finally put the storyline to bed and move on. Well, maybe maybe Trent Williams will show up to work to protect Brock Purdy now that Brandon, are you got his money that that that would be natural, right?

What's the holdup? They got a week. Well, that's a guy that you talk about taking care of business. He's not he's not playing nice now that one guy got paid and it wasn't him. Yeah, he'll punch you in the face on the field, punch you in the face in Vegas, punch you in the face in the boardroom. Yeah, let's just let's get all the nonsense out the way with the Niners and focus in on football. Of course, when you get to a deadline, Tom kind of forces everything.

And so good. Brandon, are you a four year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers? He's not going anywhere.

Four years, one hundred and twenty million dollars. Pretty hilarious. Earlier today, just this on on television, Adam Schefter was chatted up with Pat McAfee. And at this point earlier today, before the deal got done, listen to this.

He was saying that everything is on the table when it comes down to you. Well, let me say this with Brandon. Nothing ever seems to be what it appears to be right on Thursday, August 1st. I thought a trade to Cleveland was happening and was imminent and then it didn't get done. And so the holdup with Cleveland all along hasn't been whether or not the Browns have cap space to hold out. The holdup there has been Brandon. I was willingness to accept a trade to Cleveland. Anything's possible here because I would venture to tell you that there's never, never been a case as unpredictable as the one that has gone on this summer between the 49ers and Brandon Iook.

Yeah, well, I think we were all sick of it. I'm glad they finally got the deal done. Brandon Iook is set. Christian McCaffrey is set. Brock Purdy is set.

Kittle is set. Deebo Samuel is set. Trent Williams to show up to work. The offensive line needs you. If he's not out there, the New York Jets, they probably going to tear Brock Purdy's head off.

Come on. And Brock Purdy is looking for money. But Trent Williams is like, I need to get paid. First, I'm his protector.

Pay me and then pay him. Congratulations. This drama is finally done. Hickey, is he going to go on social media and say thank you?

Or is he going to continue to whine and cry like he has been? He has to post something nice. You have to.

All that crap you put up all summer long. Maybe him like burning the film of the commanders. Oh, my God. Remember when he posted that? I do.

No, he just needs to be straightforward. Hey, I love you guys. I appreciate you. I'm happy to be here next four years. Five years, whatever. Keep it moving. Congratulations. That deal is done.

Good for Brandon. Are you got himself a new contract? It's the J.R. sport we show here on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break when we come back. That leaves us with one more receiver who's not happy with this deal. I'll tell you who it is. On the other side, the J.R. sport we show the Infinity Sports Network.
