That would have been the same time I would be on the air, but I'm not here on the weekends. And so, yes, Paul George is a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. Clay Thompson is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks. We got a guy in Chris Paul who decides to sign a one year contract with the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers, who tried to get Clay Thompson.

They're still trying to figure out something. LeBron James opted out of his contract, and it appears that he is ready and willing to take a pay cut. If, if, if somebody worth a damn shows up ready to sign with the Lakers, Clay Thompson, Clay Thompson said, ah, no thanks. And can you blame Clay Thompson for not going to the Lakers?

The Lakers look like a clown show right now. LeBron James is choosing who they draft his son. LeBron James is choosing who the head coach is, his friend and podcast partner, J.J. Reddick. Why would Clay Thompson with with choices here, knowing that he's going to leave Golden State, why would Clay Thompson say, I'm going to go play with and for LeBron James? Because let's be honest, it's not just playing with LeBron James. You're playing for LeBron. And we've seen guys show up in Los Angeles with the Lakers and we've seen things not work out. When Russell Westbrook went to the Los Angeles Lakers because LeBron wanted him when it didn't work out. Russell Westbrook. He was like the he's like the black sheep.

Everything was kind of pointed at this guy and then they get him out of Dodge, right? Now he's a clipper. For now, until he gets traded because the Clippers are going nowhere. I guess it sucks for both L.A. teams. But when you think about the Los Angeles Lakers, there's only one guy that they need to add for their team. It's not James Harden who's going to return to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Good for him. Two year contract. Seventy million dollars.

He'll be making thirty five per between him and Kawhi Leonard. People can just show up to the games. And who are they going to see in the new arena?

I have no idea. I expect the Clippers to do a whole lot of nothing now that Paul George is gone. But in the case of the Lakers, it's probably good that James Harden didn't go.

Because for what? It's good for Klay Thompson that he didn't go. He's better off in Dallas. DeMar DeRozan needs to move on and DeMar DeRozan needs to just go ahead and take his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers. He needs to return home. He needs to leave all that garbage and crap in Chicago behind. DeMar DeRozan needs to just compete unless he also doesn't want to be a part of LeBron James's Los Angeles Lakers traveling circus.

Yes. Well, look, I want you to hear from DeMar DeRozan. We talked about this earlier. He chatted it up with FanDuel a couple of months ago and he said he wants to return to Chicago. Like, was he high that day? I think he smokes every now and then. I don't know if he was smoking something. But who wants to play for the Bulls?

Listen to what he said. You're going into free agency this offseason. What's the what's the vibes like in Chicago?

Are you holding your cards close, trying to see how it play out? Or is there somewhere you would like to return back to? It's definitely somewhere I'd like to return to.

I think more so than anybody. You know, when the job ain't done with me, you know, no matter how tough the situation may look, I'm one of those guys that try to stick it through and try to make something out of nothing. You know, and, you know, the city is great. I love the city. The organization been great. You know, so it's definitely a place I would love to return to and just, you know, take care of it after it's finished.

Yeah. Go to Los Angeles unless you also don't want to play with LeBron and a little bit of a shock and a little bit of a surprise. I'll tell you this much. Chris Paul going to the San Antonio Spurs. Now, that's a surprise. Chris Paul is about to be a he's LeBron James friend.

These two guys are 39 years old. They've been in the league forever. And he declined to go to Los Angeles. Chris Paul is going to play for the San Antonio Spurs, throwing up lobs to Victor when Benyama one year deal.

Eleven million dollars. Chris Haynes from Bleacher Report was on NBA TV and Chris Haynes. He talked about Chris Paul looking forward to playing for Popovich.

I spoke to Chris Paul. He's very eager and motivated for this opportunity to return to a starting role. He still believes that he's a starter. He still believes he can play at an elite level. And he's excited about the chance to pair up with Wimby Yama. You know, he said him and Greg Popovich had a really good talk today and pop just sold him on the culture and what they were trying to do. And so you're getting that you're going to get a really inspired and motivated Chris Paul at this stage of his career. He wants to show and prove to people that he still has it. Well, ain't no time machine. There's no I mean, he could be as motivated as he wants. It's not going to remove the miles and the injuries.

He's 39 years old. Is this good for Wimby Yama? Yes.

Is it good for Popovich? Yes. So they wanted a championship? No.

You got to go somewhere, right? I mean, what are the options that the Spurs have? They didn't want Trae Young. I don't blame them for that. Let's bring in Trae Young so he could shoot a million shots, act like a diva.

No thanks. So I don't know, maybe there's something going on with the teams in California. Clippers are losing here. The Lakers are still waiting. The Golden State Warriors no longer have Klay Thompson.

They have to figure out what the future looks like. I mean, come on. Pajemski. It's going to start in the place of Chris Paul or excuse me. Of Klay Thompson.

And that's part of what he had to do, even dating back to last year. I want you to listen to Pajemski. This is what he had to say on the departure of Chris Paul. Texted him yesterday.

It was pretty sad. But like I told you earlier, I mean, whoever shows up October 1st is what we have to rock with, whether we're a young team, whether we're old again, whether we're not, whether we have stars around Steph or we don't, we're going to have to work with it and we're going to have to figure it out. So for me, it's just that's what I've been working towards that these last eight to 10 weeks is just getting better as close I can to to be a star. Oh, my God. Be a star.

Look. He was one of the best rookies in the NBA last season. But moving on from Klay Thompson and Klay Thompson, he had an option.

He had an opportunity to stick around with the worries, but he didn't want to. I think Klay Thompson definitely looked at Draymond Green and his contract and said, well, this is disrespectful. They gave him 100 mil.

They're only offering me 50. He looked at the contract that they gave to a young guy in Jordan Poole. And I guess one thing that Klay Thompson did not look at is reality. Man, you blew out your ACL. You blew out your knee. Your game is predicated on running around and shooting like a madman.

Do we think you're going to age? And then when you throw in the confidence, Klay Thompson's confidence was shot. At a lot of points last season, I mean, Klay Thompson publicly talked about regaining his confidence and trust. Why in the hell would the Golden State Warriors say, yeah, we're going to give the guy with the blown out legs 100 million dollars?

So he decided to leave. And for Klay Thompson's sake, I hope he doesn't end up like one of these legends that just looks ridiculous. In a new uniform. I'm talking about Michael Jordan. In a wizard's jersey. I'm talking about Charles Barkley. In a Rockets jersey.

Akima Lajuan. In a Raptors jersey. Patrick Ewing. In a Seattle Supersonics jersey. Is Klay Thompson that washed up when he puts on a Dallas Mavericks uniform?

I don't think so. And Klay Thompson, yeah, one of the last things you got to go is shooting. But can he defend at the same level? I'm supposed to think that his confidence is going to be better with the Dallas Mavericks.

Maybe it is. But the thought and the fact and the idea that one of the greatest shooting back courts in the history, if not the top shooting back court in the history of the league, it's done. I mean, if I'm a Warriors fan, I got to I got to have a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth. We've seen four championships, four titles. We've seen Klay Thompson not dribble a ball and score a million points. We've seen Steph Curry come off of us.

We've seen it all. This is the part that really sucks. The book is officially closed. On the Golden State Warriors, that era is done, OK? They just won a championship three years ago. It's over at this point in time. And it's kind of sad.

Because everything, all good things got to come to an end, right? You know, earlier on in the show, we talked about all of the parity in sports and and what league has more parity. The Red Sox and their titles and the Patriots and their titles, they got six of them.

The Golden State Warriors won four championships. Days over, I don't know who the hell they're bringing in. I don't know what star they're going to attract.

I don't know if if I don't. Kuminga now all of a sudden becomes the next big thing. But Klay Thompson in Dallas, running up and down the court in that blue.

That's going to be one hell of an adjustment. Luca Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson. It's also been reported that if Klay Thompson did return to the Golden State Warriors, that they were going to make Klay Thompson come off of the bench.

A hard knock life, right? Well, Klay Thompson's made almost 300 million dollars in contracts. What the hell else do you want from the Golden State Warriors? Things aren't looking all that good for the teams in L.A. I have no idea how the Warriors get better. The Los Angeles Clippers. They lose Paul George. This was a team that slapped a bunch of guys together and they sucked. Well, they didn't suck.

They just didn't play. And now the Clippers are moving into their new building, the Intuit Dome. And who's excited about the Clippers? The answer is nobody. Who's ever excited about the Clippers?

The answer is nobody. And then you look at the Lakers. I told you the easiest thing that fixes or helps the Lakers is if DeMar DeRozan decides to show up. And even at that point, the Lakers will be good. But are they good enough to win a championship?

We'll find out soon enough, I guess. Typically in free agency, the teams in California, they win. The Golden State Warriors get a Kevin Durant. The Los Angeles Lakers sign whatever star you can think of. Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron James. And the Clippers?

Well, let's be real. The Clippers are used to being ass anyway. But now they got Steve Ballmer.

You would expect a little bit more. The JR Sportbreeze show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Paul George gone from the Los Angeles Clippers. Paul George moving on to the Philadelphia 76ers to play alongside Tyrese Maxey, who just got his own contract extension. Eric Gordon, who's there as well. Kelly Oubre is returning.

And then you also have the biggest piece of them all. And Jolynn B, what is Paul George going to do for the Sixers? Are they now the second best team in the East? Are the Sixers better than the New York Knicks?

Are the Sixers going to knock off the Boston Celtics? I'm going to tell you about it on the other side of the break. 855-212-4227.

It's 855-212-4227. Yeah, free agency is upon us. And I'm still here. I didn't sign to play elsewhere.

I'm still on the Infinity Sports Network. Don't move. You're listening to the JR... We all belong outside. I am certain. I ain't counting money. But whenever the Boston Celtics get sold, they're going for about $5 to $6 billion. And so the Boston Celtics winning on the basketball court, their ownership group, about to win big as they get ready to flip their investment.

A lot of power in the East right now, right? Just last week, the New York Knicks, big moves. Isaiah Hartenstein leaves, unfortunately, goes down to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

They needed a center. New York Knicks adding or re-signing OG Anenobi. The New York Knicks go out and make a trade for McHale Bridges, their first trade between the Knicks and the Nets in about 40 years. And the East is moving, right? The Orlando Magic, the contagious Caldwell Pope, pick him up from the Denver Nuggets. The East is really making some moves.

And they had no bigger moves or no bigger moves so far than Paul George. At 34 years old. Signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. Four years.

Two hundred and twelve million dollars. What the hell is the full expectation here? For the 76ers. Am I supposed to believe that the 76ers are now going to compete legitimately for a title?

Tyrese Maxey gets an extension. Kelly Oubre is going to return to the Philadelphia 76ers. You still have Joel Embiid. And I'm supposed to believe that Paul George is going to put them over the top?

Like this is this is fool's gold. I take a look at Paul George and I say to myself, yeah, he's still good. And he's not going to be asked to be the best player at this point. That's Tyrese Maxey, at least Tyrese Maxey, unlike Joel Embiid.

He shows up to work. Tyrese Maxey is not a seven foot one, a seven foot two giant. We can actually expect for him to play basketball games.

But Paul George, this is nice. If everybody's healthy. Will you really bet your last dollar that Joel Embiid is going to make it through through the postseason healthy? Like I get it.

Nobody wants load management. But if there is a player in the NBA who we know can not make it through a full season. It's Joel Embiid.

I would hope that they can at least get through the season. This man is one MVP. Joel Embiid is going into the Hall of Fame.

He is all of this. It's all going down. Man, Joel Embiid is even going to get himself a gold medal playing for Team USA in the Olympics.

How about that? Joel Embiid doesn't need to play more than 60 games. If they got to sit this man's big ass down due to injury maintenance, they should. Because if they're going to go a whole season. Where Joel Embiid is going to play 70 plus games.

Hey, I don't know if his body can do it. And if you want Joel Embiid, do you want him in December or January or do you want him ramping up towards the end of the season? I mean, the guy got a whole break unintentionally this past season due to injury.

And then he came back and got hurt again in the postseason. You can't make this up like there's no easy answer. So forgive me if I'm not all that enthusiastic about Paul George joining this team.

Joining the Sixers, because quite frankly, what does it matter if Embiid can't play? I don't have a crystal ball. I can't predict the future.

I'm not Miss Cleo. I just know that I would not trust this man to be healthy if I needed it. 8-5-5, 2-1-2, 42-27. That's 8-5-5, 2-1-2, 42-27. I still feel more strongly about the New York Knicks than I would the Sixers right now.

And that's with the Knicks having their own injury-riddled center in Mitchell Robinson. 8-5-5, 2-1-2, 42-27. Lee is calling from Baltimore. You're on the JR Sport Reshow. What's going on, Lee? What's up, JR? How are you?

Live on the radio. Go ahead. Man, it's real hard, man, to get in contact with, JR. I'm glad I'm chopping it up with you real quick, JR. Man, it's been a nice little move going on as far as basketball right now. The 76ers is the team to watch.

Believe that. Because they got Paul George right now. They got MB still there. They got Lord Maxey still there. And they got Kelly Oubre. And I think they got the other big man just in case MB get hurt. You know how he normally get hurt. Andre Drummond. Yeah, they got him to back him up. I'm trying to tell you, 76ers is going to be the team to watch, JR. And then, I think, as far as that Chris Paul situation with Benyama.

Lee, hold on before you get to Benyama. Okay. You trust that Joel Embiid is going to be healthy at the end of the year when it matters? I mean, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that they got to back up just in case he don't be healthy. Now, we know Andre Drummond.

He shows up sometimes, not all the time. The past year with the Bulls, I think one of those games, I think he had like 30 rebounds or something like that. Yeah, but Andre, the Sixers are trying to win a championship.

I know. But Andre Drummond is a good backup center. But the point is, it doesn't matter who the backup is. If Joel Embiid is not out there on the court, if he is not healthy, it doesn't matter who the backup center is because they need him to go out there and log 30, 35 minutes a game, which is something he's not able to do. I would tell you, all things considered, Tyrese Maxey is the reliable star for the 76ers. That's a fact, that's a fact. But if Joel Embiid is not healthy, it don't matter.

They're cooked. They can go to the playoffs and look nice and look sexy and win a round, but to win a championship not happening. But what I'm saying is you don't think that Andre Drummond would be a good backup just in case he get hurt. You don't think he could put some minutes in? Yes, he is. He is.

But we're talking about two different things. You're telling me about a backup and I'm telling you about winning a championship. Yes, Andre Drummond is good. He's a good backup center. But if Andre Drummond has to step into a starting role, can he hold it down for a little while?

Yes. But ain't no championship. That's my point. I got that, JR. I got that. All I'm saying is that was a great move for the 76ers to grab him. That was a great move.

Now, we got to understand it here. You right, JR. They do need Joel Embiid to play a whole season without getting hurt because if he does get hurt, then they probably won't get a championship. Now, with the Chris Paul to the Winbama situation, I think that's the best fit for Chris Paul. That's his last chance. This is his last chance. This is his last chance because if Winbama and Chris Paul can coordinate together and they get one more piece, they might have a shot. Just because he's like Yay Paul, they might have a shot.

Other than that, JR, I mean, I don't have nothing else to say, JR, except for the Wizards. The Wizards, they look like they're trying to cook up something down there with Valen Junis and the little kid. I forgot the little guy name. I forget the guy. How exciting to have Valen Junis pool in Kuzma. Excitingly. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, I like Jordan Poole.

He's starting to pick it up as he gets his starting position. But yeah, I like that, though. I like the show, man. I like the show, JR. Thank you so much, Lee. Take it easy, okay? Yes, sir. No doubt about it.

Now, that is some blonde optimism there. He likes the Wizards. He likes... Who's buying tickets to see Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole, and Valen Junis?

People are buying tickets to see that? I saw a joke. It wasn't a funny joke. You know, people talk about big threes.

I saw a joke online, a meme. It was just like, this is ass. They called it the ass three. Who cares about that? Good luck to the Wizards. They need to follow in the footsteps of the mystics and they need to like serve tickets with brunch on Sunday. Nobody cares about the Wizards. Chris Paul, yeah. Look, who the San Antonio Spurs supposed to get?

They're supposed to get somebody else in that's going to help them do what? Not win a championship. Chris Paul will be retired by the time Victor Wibanyama is hoisting the Larry O'Brien. Whenever that is, if it happens, Chris Paul ain't going to be around for that. And then to his first point with the 76ers?

Come on, man. He said Joel Embiid needs to play the whole season. No, he doesn't. First of all, he can't make it. B, I don't know if you want him to make it. And then C, you just want him to play enough to develop some type of chemistry with Paul George. You want him to develop some type of chemistry also with Maxie out there now and Ubre.

You want them to play so they have some type of familiarity with each other. You just want him geared up to the postseason. But how are you even going to believe Joel Embiid? The guy got hurt this past season, was gone, came back.

You're thinking, oh, my God, he had some time off to rehab and he came back and got hurt again. I'm sorry, I don't got no faith in the Sixers. I'll see it when I believe it, OK? One day maybe Embiid will be hoisting up the Larry O'Brien. But look, if it happens, it happens.

I don't think I'll ever bet on it because this man is not a safe bet. Joel Embiid is probably in the last year realistically before his body spontaneously combusts. And the Sixers are just screwed. He just turned 30 years old.

He's 7'1", 7'2", whatever he is, he's almost 300 pounds. Paul George called Joel Embiid like our generation's Shaq, which still makes me shiver even a thought that Paul George said that maybe Paul George deserves to go to Philadelphia. But Joel Embiid, he only got so many bullets left in the chamber. He's always hurt. He came into the league hurt. This man has three more years left on his contract. Well, he has probably a year or two where he's going to be worth a damn. Come on now.

855-212-4227. Marco Belletti is here. Marco, with all this free agency moving around, what do you think about this man, Paul George, going to the Sixers with Embiid and Maxey? I think it's the best move that the Sixers could have made, but I don't see it being a championship type move. I don't think Paul George is the one missing piece to bring a title to Philadelphia. I don't think they're better than the Celtics. I'm not convinced that they're better than the Knicks, I think. And also you mentioned the Embiid stuff.

Is he healthy when the chips are down, when you need him in the playoffs? All those are major, giant questions that to me are not settled and not answered. Paul George is in the same category. Exactly. I mean, the fact I'm saying to myself and I get it, the money, sometimes I have to ignore the money just a little bit because there's a lot of money to spread around.

So I try to ignore it. $212 million for a 34-year-old forward is just, I say, you gave him four years? I think the 34-year-old part is a thing that everybody's forgetting because you see the stuff online too and you're like, oh man, I can't believe that the Clippers let this go to the Sixers. And you see the highlights from when he was on the Pacers.

Am I missing something? That wasn't last week. You know, this has been a long time. I know the player that Paul George was and I'm aware of the player that he is. Those are two different things and he's a nice piece and he's a good third option on a possible contender. But this team had some issues to begin with and they don't have a lot of depth to begin with and they have their own injury issues. Paul George is not going to fix all of that. This is still Tyrese Maxey's team and that's not enough to get you a title. I'm sorry.

It's not. Look, it's an anomaly for Paul George to have even played 74 games himself last year. Okay, 74. The year before that he played 56 and then he played 31, 54. Like, this is the guy who's going to age into being, I don't know, maybe you want an aging veteran next to Maxey whenever Joel Embiid falls apart. And he got three more years on his deal. And I'm sure in the last year of his option, which is going to be about 60 mil. Well, Joel Embiid have played enough games to think that he's now going to be, I don't know, 32, 33. He's going to get a massive deal. This is the Sixers. I guess you got no choice.

What else are you going to do? We need talent. We need a talent. And they brought in the talent. But can that talent stay healthy? And I guess we can say this for a good part of the league. But for the Sixers specifically, Joel Embiid, along with maybe Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard, these are your poster boys for injured stars in the NBA. And Paul George, come on, he is I don't want to say he's past his expiration. Still very good. He was an All-Star last year, but it's like buyer beware. And I don't know if it's going to work out.

We'll see, Marco. Hey, I still got the Celtics sitting at the top, of course, and the Knicks even losing Hartenstein. I still think the Knicks are in a better position in the Sixers.

That's just me. I agree with you. And again, some of this is the idea that, look, in a bubble, the Sixers move seems to make all the sense in the world. And again, they were back in the corner. They had to make it. I'm not saying that they made the wrong move because they had no other move to make. And sometimes you got to do something because your window's already starting to close.

So they understand that. But when you hear Paul George and Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, like that sounds great in a vacuum. When you get into reality and you find out how old they are and how injured they are and how it seems to be the same thing over and over and over.

And the fact that the rest of the roster doesn't have any depth to it, you start to realize that this is really good if you're working in fantasy land. But it's not in reality because they're not going to be able to put it together to win a title. They'll be relevant, which maybe that's what you truly want. They'll be there. They'll be a contender. They're just not going to win anything.

Yeah. And we got a lot of those teams in the NBA. Let's see what happens with the rest of free agency.

I'm eagerly awaiting to see what the Los Angeles Lakers do or where DeMar DeRozan goes. It's already been a wild 24 now plus hours. The J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. I'm going to fill you in on a few things that took place this day in sports history before we roll out. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief. It is the J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. NBA free agency is taking over the world. The sports still had plenty going on over the weekend as well. Congratulations to the Florida Panthers. They finally had their parade. It feels like they had to wait a whole damn week.

It took place yesterday out in the rain, unfortunately, and they still had a good time. So we'll talk about that in a few seconds. I'll share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. But let's get to the phones before we roll out of here.

Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Wayne, he's here from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Wayne, you're on the J.R. sport we show. What's up?

Hey, thanks for taking my call. Do you think that the definition of someone's success in the NBA is based on titles? And that being said, do you think if Klay Thompson wins with the Mavericks, that he's going to be better defined as a better NBA career versus Steph Curry or even LeBron James? Because the argument is LeBron James, he was the Spurs and the and the players, or the Warriors were the best teams during his era, not necessarily him. So the first question you're asking me is broad.

I mean, if we have to talk about championships, then I mean, if we wanted to use that as the kind of benchmark, then we just stop at Bill Russell with 11 of them and everybody else's is biting his dust. And so, no, it depends. I mean, if you're asking me about success, is this in regards to team success? Individuals?

What are you asking me specific individual success? Like so. The reason I'm asking there are kind of precursor that is because I see Klay Thompson going to the Mavericks. I could possibly see him win another title with the Mavericks.

And no, it doesn't it doesn't matter. Look, he could win two more championships or three more championships with the Dallas Mavericks. It's not going to happen. And nobody is ever going to look at Klay Thompson as being superior or better or more accomplished than Steph Curry. It will never happen unless Klay Thompson has a time machine and a body transplant and all of a sudden gets the power of Michael Jordan from 96 to 98.

Like it's it's not happening. Is this good? Is this good for him with Dallas?

I guess it's not a it's not a needle mover for me. I don't know how many more shots he's going to make or have out there. Dallas Mavericks will be good. You know, Luca Kyrie, an aging Klay, P.J.

Washington, Gafford Lively. They'll be good. Am I going to favor them to win a title? No, no. I still think the team something that they really need is more depth.

You know, it's still the Luca Doncic show. We know that he can carry a team, but they need a whole lot more than that way. I agree. I just curious what your perspective was with that.

The Klay possibly winning a title. But yeah, I appreciate the call. I appreciate the time. Thanks. Sure. Thank you, Wayne.

No problem. If Klay Thompson wins another title, people go, hey, he won one, but he ain't going to surpass, you know, the Steph Curry. That ain't happening.

Not at all. And speaking of titles, I told you about Florida having their parade over the weekend. Listen to head coach Paul Maurice. This man spoke. And I also believe this man was a drinking for every 30 years. For that woman over there, 30 years of being married to an. I want to in my wildest dreams, I've never would have thought I could see this. Seriously, understand this.

Everybody that we love in this world is happy right now. Yeah, that's that's quite a that's quite a bit of alcohol. OK, Matthew could shock had a little bit of a joke when it came down to the weather, the raining, wet weather down in Florida. And he took the opportunity to take a shot at the folks of Edmonton.

Hey, I heard it's 70 degrees and sunny in Edmonton, but they ain't got no cup. Ouch. Ouch. Well, that's what happens when you win.

You can make the jokes anyway. It's the J.R. sport we show here with you on the infinity sports network. And I think it is time to take a look back at a few things that took place this day in sports history. Congratulations. It's July 1st. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore.

But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. Back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.

It was primitive and lousy. We like the J.R. sport brief show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the J.R. sport show here with you on the infinity sports network. It is July 1st. Congratulations. It's the first of the month. It's time for me to tell you about a few things that took place this day in sports history at this time of the year. Well, not too many sports going on, right? First of all, the NBA had its first ever lockout in 1995.

Congratulations. In the year 2011, July 1st. This is because the NBA is CBA.

It typically expires on July 1st. In 2011, there was another lockout. Thank you. Remember LeBron and those guys talking about playing in Europe? Didn't happen. And speaking of LeBron James, on July 1st, the year 2018, LeBron James decided to sign a four year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. And it's over now. And now he's going to sign a new one. What it is, we don't know how much we don't know, but he's going to stick around in L.A. Let's go back to 2018. LeBron James spoke to ESPN and he basically said, me, the Lakers, a perfect match.

It's a perfect match. And this city is built on stars. This city breeds stars and they breed winners. And I'm a winner.

More importantly, I'm a winner. But obviously, you know, with Jeannie and Ervin and Rob, they know what it means and they know what it feels to win. So they're a little bit closer to the finish line than it would be, say, you know, when I first got back to Cleveland. But we want to get back to winning. And this franchise hasn't won in the last few years, but they that's all they've known, you know, since they've been in existence.

I'm happy to be here at this point now in my career and at this point in time of the Lakers franchise today where we're both want to get back to that to that promised land. And we know they want to they want a championship and a bubble. And then they couldn't celebrate. And then they had no parade. LeBron James has four championships.

This doesn't get talked about a lot. LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers and Magic Johnson not too long after said, I'm out. I stick around here. I'm gone.

Magic Johnson's like, I got money to make. I'm not sticking around here. Dodger stuff to do. Anyway, listen, folks, I appreciate you hanging out with me this afternoon, this evening. Thank you to our producer, Nick Theodoro, holding it down for us in New York. Hey, Nick, thank you so much.

No problem, man. Hopefully it's not too long before we do this again. Yeah.

At the rate that we're going, I will probably work again in another two years. Yeah, it sounds about right. Sounds about right. Listen, folks, if you missed a minute or a second of the show, you can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Not that not that difficult.

Not that tough. I'll be back with you tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. It's going to be the last JR sport reshow for this week before I do a little bit of vacation.

Vacation is nice. Listen, you be safe. You be well. You be smooth. You be cool.

The JR sport reshow here on the Infinity Sports Network. It is done, but don't go anywhere. It's Bart Winkler. He's coming up next. Thank you, Nick. You be safe, be smooth, be cool and be well. I'm gone.
