JR can't believe how lame the Nikola Jokic ejection was on Tuesday

I'm Snoop Dogg, and I'm giving up smoke.

I know what you're thinking. Snoop, smoke is kind of your whole thing. But I'm done with it.

I'm done with the coffin, and my clothes smelling all funky. I'm going smokeless. Solo Stove Fix 5. They took out the smoke. Now you can have a nice blaze without any clouds ruining your day. Go smokeless.

Go to solostove.com. Tell them big Snoop Dogg sent you. Hahaha. Nobody wants a surprise in their jelly donut.

It's toothpaste? That's because the middle is the most important part. At Graybar, we're at the middle of electrical and datacom jobs across the country, connecting installers, facility managers and business owners with smart solutions for their most challenging projects.

Which means stocking and delivering crucial products on time and on budget with no surprises thanks to our nationwide logistics network. Yep, Graybar does that. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio.

You could be in architecture, back to the streets, I don't know California. You could be in Idaho, Missouri, Chicago, Vancouver, you could be up in Canada. You could be in New York with Super Producer and host Dave Shepherd.

Thank you for listening, it's as simple as that. I'm going to be hanging out for the next three hours. This is a four hour show. I get started at 10pm Eastern, 7 Pacific, every weeknight. That means Monday through Friday. Talk to me it's simple, we got a phone number here, it works 855-2124-CBS and me I'm online I am at JR Sportbrief if you should dare say anything to me.

Knock yourself out. Anyway, we've already had a busy show so far. First hour, talked about this Tommy DeVito. This is like Linsanity all over again, except for well, he's Italian American and he's from New Jersey and he grew up down the block from the team and now he's the New York Giants starting quarterback.

What the hell is this, a Disney movie? Next thing you know Tommy DeVito is going to be taking the Giants to the Super Bowl. Nah, I'm not that delusional. Let's wait though. We're just waiting on the quarterback controversy next July when Daniel Jones ACL is still in shambles and then Tommy DeVito is going to be led to take over.

I have no idea. So much more that can take place between now and then but it's certainly a nice story. A story that's pretty damn bad. We learned today that Justin Herbert is done for the year. That broken finger is cooked, Chargers were cooked and now they're officially done. They're extra burnt. They're not cooked.

They're burnt. You can't serve them and who knows what happens with their head coach Brandon Staley. He is probably going to get the boot. It sucks for him. Also right before we went to break, we talked about Juan Soto. Juan Soto joining the New York Yankees had his, I can't even call it a press conference. The man sat around on Zoom today and answered questions about just focusing on baseball and then letting everybody know that if the Yankees want to discuss a contract extension, they know who to call.

No, not the Ghostbusters, but his agent, Scott Boer. So matter of fact, this is Juan Soto running his mouth, not wanting to answer questions about his future and his contract, but saying, hey, I'm just focusing in on baseball. Listen to the newest Yankee. My priority right now is just get to know the team and get to know the guys, really. For me, I'm going to the team, to New York, to Tampa, whatever I'm going to meet those guys and try to get a good relationship and try to really stick together, get to know those guys and push and try to get the same goal as they want. That's what my main thing is right now about any contract and stuff. They know who where to call and who to talk to. I'm here just to play baseball and try to concentrate and play baseball.

All right. His agent is Scott Boer, so I'd be shocked if he had a contract extension before the New York Yankees season ends. And I mean, yes, at the end of 2024, I think the man is going to enter into free agency.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't do so. And as one caller hit us up before the break, he's like, oh, Yankees are going to be good with Soto. Like, yeah, they're going to be good. They're going to be World Series good. Let me know about the starting rotation.

We still got time to figure that out. And another caller asked me about Shohei Ohtani. We'll talk about Shohei in an hour from now. Unfortunately, I was under the weather yesterday. Could he be back here?

So we'll talk about Shohei in about an hour. But I got to get this out the way, because this was something that bubbled over the weekend as well. We know the Los Angeles Lakers, they won the NBA's first in-season tournament. Unfortunately for the Lakers tonight, they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in a separate game 127 to 125.

But on the way towards that championship, before we even got to Saturday where the Lakers got rid of the Pacers, the Lakers had to get rid of the Pelicans. And since then, Zion Williamson has just been destroyed, OK? His stat line against the Lakers, the Pelicans lost 133 to 89. He had a miserable 13 points. He was one of six from the free throw line, and he also had three turnovers. I sat here on the radio the night of the game and I said, one of the worst things I've ever heard from Zion, from anybody, is I need to be more aggressive. Like he wasn't focused, like he didn't care. That's me.

We had a whole lot of other people who decided to take it steps further. Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley saying that hopefully he doesn't waste his potential, that he gets in shape. And come on, man. Charles Barkley, his nickname was the round mound of rebound. They called him round because early on he was fat. The man got in shape, won an MVP. Shaquille O'Neal, the man came into the NBA, looked like he was carved out of granite, carved out of stone. We know as he got older in the league, standing around at 7 foot 1, getting abused by people down low, Shaq got big. One of the reasons why he didn't always get along with Kobe Bryant, God rest his soul, was because of his conditioning.

Got big. Wasn't until he got to Miami, seemingly, that he tried to get in a little better shape. That's two dudes who are some of the best basketball players ever. I know a lot of people forget that Charles Barkley was one of the greatest basketball players ever. He's so damn good at running his mouth. We got another guy running his mouth. He didn't play in the NBA. He took it a step further. He didn't hold any punches because he called Zion Williamson fat.

That is Stephen A. Smith on his own show. Take a listen to this. But you look like you showed up to the game having just ate a buffet. Not something from the buffet. I said the buffet.

Like you ate the damn table. It didn't surprise, I wasn't going to touch on this because I was embarrassed for him. But then Sports Illustrated wrote about it and the New Orleans Times-Pecun, local newspaper wrote about it.

So it's public information. He's fat. Damn. I mean, he went on and on. I felt like over the past two or three days he was on a whole crusade talking about how he saw a belly on Zion and he saw him take a deep breath and there was the belly there. People are making jokes about Zion breathing into the microphone and yeah Zion looks big.

He does. I mean it was only a couple months ago he was looking real kind of I guess as slim as possible and looking cut up. The man is listed at six foot six, 284 pounds. Do you think he weighs only 284 pounds?

I'd go for the over. But besides that Zion Williamson, I guess he heard all of the noise and heard all of the comments about his weight, his size, his eating habits and the newspapers didn't report team isn't happy with his weight and eating habits. Team reported and Stephen A. Smith decided to say it too that chefs in New Orleans love him and everybody wants to feed him and he wants to eat everything and so last night Minnesota Timberwolves, yeah people aren't necessarily paying attention right now, they've been one of the best teams in the NBA and New Orleans beat them last night 121 to 107. Zion played out of his mind, 36 points, five rebounds, two assists, didn't miss a damn thing really from the field, 13 and 17 and then he sat down.

He sat in front of the media and he spoke. One of the first questions he was asked was well Shaq and Charles Barkley talking about your shape and your condition, what you got to say to them Zion, listen. Do you think what Barkley and Shaq said last week, do you view that as a legitimate critique? And what exactly did they say? I mean essentially it was both of those guys said we struggled with some conditioning stuff early in our career and like that got better and we see that in this game a little bit too.

If it comes from a great place and a place where they just want to see me do better, thank you but if it comes from anywhere else, everybody and Tyra Dionne Paine can't control that. Okay, well that's fine, legitimate. By the way, you might not recall this, Zion Williamson did sit down on Gilbert Arenas podcast earlier this year and Zion talked about his struggles with weight and eating. He basically said he has all this money and he has everything at his fingertips and it's tough with his conditioning. This is also the same Zion Williamson who basically missed I feel like half of last year with a hamstring injury, a hamstring issue. And so then the big question came, well Zion, what do you feel about any of the criticism?

This one seems to be a little bit more specific to Stephen A. Smith. Listen to Zion and the response. Is there any of that stuff that you hear and you feel like it's too far or they do too much or stuff like that? At the end of the day, I can't control what no grown man do. I can't control what a grown adult does. All I can do is control the things I can control, lock in on myself, lock in on my teammates, coaches and everybody with the pelicans, the city and try to win. That's it, right? Okay. It would have been more comical if he just threatened to eat Stephen A. Smith.

Not gonna happen. Man, Zion is 23 years old. Saw this dude jumping out the gym in high school on overtime and he goes to Duke and he's jumping out of his shoes and he goes to the NBA and he's just hurt. I remember his first night in the league. I was watching the game actually with Channing Frye. Just watching him put up threes because we know he don't shoot no threes.

He goes right to the basket and when you weigh 300 pounds, yeah, it's a little difficult to keep people off of you or keep people on you and you're as athletic as he is. That ain't gonna last forever now. Hamstring issues and oh yeah, by the way, this is unfortunate. A couple hours ago, the pelicans, they played tomorrow against Washington. Should be an easy win, right?

Should be. Zion is questionable due to a left ankle sprain. Come on, man. You put up 36 points on the very next day, you got an ankle sprain. I was expecting it to be a hamstring and so Zion can't catch a break. Last week, everybody's calling him fat and out of shape and unhealthy. The newspapers are saying he's eating everything in New Orleans and he's not listening to the team when it comes down to his conditioning. If you physically look at the dude, he looks different than what he did months ago where he looked a little slimmer and trimmer and I get it. The season starts, most players, they lose muscle definition.

They lose weight as the year goes on. Zion just looks like he lost definition. Maybe he's not working out as much because he's not in the off season. He's just going from city to city, town to town and playing basketball and he's good at it because he can still get you 23 points, five and a half rebounds and five assists. That's what he's doing this season. But I think people who have seen him knows that he's capable of doing and being more.

Everybody now after the fact says, well, we're doing this because we believe in his potential. The way Stephen A. Smith paints the picture, it doesn't sound like he's trying to do Zion any favors. It sounds like he's just trying to be entertaining, like he's trying to be insulting. And so has the criticism of Zion going too far? I mean, it was only months ago that Zion Williamson was being attacked online by, I don't know, was she a former, you know, I can say it, you always want to tell me I got to be careful. How do I describe this woman?

I've been taking calls left and right. I don't even know what you're referring to right now. The lady that accused Zion of, she's the late, I can't call her a lady of the night, right? I can't say that. Right. Like a Heidi Fleiss kind of person. If you want to who.

She's a former pornographic star. Is that right? I can call her that, right? No, that's totally fair game.

Yes. Yeah, that's accurate. That's what she did. And she basically went at Zion for like, I feel like two months just on social media. You got a baby with this lady. You promised my baby here and it's like, Whoa, you can also call her psychopath and wouldn't be out of bounds either.

Yeah, well. We haven't heard from her. I think she's blocked on.

I think her accounts have been disabled everywhere. Steven, they probably paid her off so he could be the biggest antagonist. Maybe Zion is 23. This man already received a five year, $193 million contract extension.

We know that there are weight clauses in there, but do I think that the, the pelicans are going to just quote unquote push the button? No, they're stuck with this guy. They're married to him. They can only hope that maybe everybody calling them fat will actually motivate him to get angry. Zion coming out of high school into college was always smiling.

Look like a big old teddy bear. Look like he was happy-go-lucky man, Zion looks weathered. He got all this money. People are publicly calling him fat. He has women just destroying him on social media and not nice women either nasty women. He looks like he'd been through some things and he is only 23 years old. Life comes at you fast.

You get a $200 million extension. Is he happy? Is he miserable?

Is he being fat shamed? Are people going too far on Zion? Jerry, I had a quick question for you.

One sec. Yes, sir. I don't think anybody's going too far here with Zion.

Not by any stretch of the imagination. This is what the hell you signed up for. You know, is it necessary to call him fat?

Is it necessary to do all? No, it's not. But this is the world that we live in, man. You sign up and you take the money, you take the cash, you're in line for the criticism. Whether it comes from me or Stephen A. Smith or whether it comes from Shaq or whether it comes from Charles Barkley, this is all a part of the territory.

This is no different and maybe a little bit different for the life of me. Russell Westbrook shows where he's at mentally where he can't get over anybody. Some guy in the stands chanting at him, Westbrook, you getting all this money, man? Just ball out. And who cares what they say?

It's a part of the job. There's a million things worse they could call you besides Westbrook. And in the case of Zion Williamson, is it the nicest thing to just go, he's fat? Can you say he's out of shape and you've heard that? You can say that Zion has admitted himself to having difficulty with his eating and his his dietary habits.

He's admitted that himself. No need to pile on, but I don't feel bad for him. If your feelings are hurt, give the money back. If your feelings are hurt, go be a chef down on Canal Street. If your feelings are hurt, go back to South Carolina and give the money back.

If your feelings are that damn hurt, get in shape, play basketball. You do that, then there won't be anything to criticize. The biggest part of the job and why you make all this money is because people watch.

It's that simple. Shohei Ohtani wouldn't be making no damn money if nobody watched, if nobody cared. Zion Williamson got a deal coming his way. 200 million dollars could be worth more than that. Is the criticism going too far? I don't think so.

Is it fair? I just think it's part of the job, man. Get over it. Maybe we'll see angry Zion.

Maybe you'll get in shape. I don't feel bad for this dude. Part of the job. 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side of the break.

What do you think about this criticism that Zion has faced? Has it gone too damn far? I'm going to take your calls. We'll hear from Shep on the other side of the break. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio.

You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. How you doing, JR? I enjoy listening to you when I'm on the road, driving back. You always make a lot of sense and you're funny as hell.

You really have a lot of substance to you. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. This portion of the show is brought to you by Wesley Financial. Are you stuck in a timeshare and want out?

Contact Wesley Financial Group now and get a free timeshare exit information kit at WesleyFinancialGroup.com. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on CBS Sports Radio. By now I'm pretty sure you've heard all of the comments about Zion and his weight and his shape, what he looks like, how he moves, what he can eat, how much he can eat. Is it going too far? Is it too much? Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal talk about him being in bad shape and they've dealt with these issues before so they, oh we want to see you do better, okay that's fine.

Steve Naismith goes and takes it further, he's like oh no he's fat, he's eating everything, he's eating a whole buffet, he's being an entertainer about it. Is it necessary? No. Did it go too far? Eh, I don't think so. Do I feel bad for Zion?

I don't. Like he's 23 years old, I think he's finally figuring out what the world is, he's been dragged through the mud this past summer with that lady who accused him of, I don't know, whatever the hell their relationship was, she was relentless and now we're hearing about his weight. Because he does look bigger and last night he went out there and he bust ass, a season high 36 points after all of the criticism. But then tomorrow he might be out questionable with a left ankle sprain as the Pelicans get ready to take on the Wizards. He balled so damn hard he blew out his ankle, who knows, maybe he'll play. Weight is an issue but I don't feel bad for the dude, 200 plus million dollars and the Pelicans are married to him and he's getting all this money. So he can play basketball for the next, I don't know, 10, 15 years maybe, it's gonna be tough being this damn big, or he can take his money and just be a dude who sits at home and eats. Those aren't two bad options if you ask me, 855-2124 CBS, it's 855-2124 CBS, has it gone too far?

Is he being fat shamed? I'm gonna get to your calls momentarily. Shep, you had a question for me before we went to break, what's up? So he kind of answered it but do you mind if I just make a quick statement on this?

Sure. So my thing is this, JR, Zion Williamson, call him whenever you want, he's underachieved considering the expectations coming into the season, coming into his career, I get all that. Stephen A. Smith is nearly 60 years old, okay? Zion Williamson, as you alluded to, is 23. Zion Williamson is gonna make three times the amount of money that Stephen A. Smith is gonna make in 2024 and that's just on the court. Zion Williamson, even if he has underachieved in his career, has averaged 26 points per game, has shot over 60% from the floor, translation Stephen A., he's a hall of famer. What gives this grown ass man the right to call someone fat who has been more successful already and hasn't even lived half his life that Stephen A. has?

What gives him the nerve to call another man fat and think that's what journalism should come to? There's been other people that have underachieved, JR. Zion Williamson's not the first, he's not gonna be the last. He's done nothing to really be a jerk to people off the court. He has been a model citizen in terms of how he is accessible to the media, what he does behind the scenes for his teammates, how he is to charity, what he did at Duke. I understand this guy's not perfect, but where are we at in the state of journalism where Stephen A. Smith thinks it's okay to go after this guy and call him fat? And by the way, JR, last time I checked, the guy who's miserable ain't Zion Williamson. It's the guy who's making $12 million a year and has publicly complained that he's underpaid and should be the face of ESPN in terms of what he's receiving from a monetary and financial perspective.

Shame on Stephen A. for saying this, and I can't believe more people are not giving heat and criticism towards his ass for what he had to say about Zion, not about Zion Williamson. Yeah, well, the idea of journalism, I think that part has kind of gone out the window. I mean, if he was still sitting around writing for the, you know, in Philadelphia and what have you, I think it'd be different, but I think at this point in time we know that he's a full-on entertainer. And so the idea of, you can't change his background and where he cut his bones, whether it be in radio and also what he did for newspapers and coverage and that part you can't take away. But for right now, he's made it very clear he has aspirations of late night. He has aspirations of variety shows.

He has a lot of aspirations, and I think the least of them as of right now is journalistic integrity depending on what button he wants to push. So as I said, yeah, man, is it fair? Is it necessary? No, it's not. But at this point he's just out there pushing the button of being an entertainer.

I mean, you've got to go that far just to say he's fat, he's got a belly. All entertainment. 855-212-4CBS, it's 855-212-4CBS.

Has it gone too far, though? Let's talk to Hassan, calling from Toronto, Canada. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up? Hey, thank you for taking my call. Usually I wait hours.

Wow, I was the first one, I'm so lucky today. How you doing? I'm good. Go ahead.

We got a lot of people here. Go ahead, Hassan. Oh, wow.

Yeah. Well, I just agree a whole hundred percent what Shaq just said, and what do you call it? Steven Smith has always had something. 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS, and keep it clean. Johnny's calling from here in Atlanta. You're on CBS Sports Radio. First of all, I'd like to applaud Zion, how he handled that Stephen A.

That was very professional. And second thing, Zion is only 6'6", 6'5", so he's already undersizing for a power four and a small four. His weight might have him out of the plate to hit it low, to bang down low in the paint. So if he lose weight, I want to know will he still be effective down low, because he's only averaging five rebounds. Well I think for the betterment of his body and the longevity of his career, it's a benefit for him to lose weight or at least slim down and get in shape.

I don't think there's going to be any massive changes. When you look at him right now, thank you Johnny for calling from Atlanta, if you looked at the game last night, I looked at every single basket that he scored. He's excellent going to the hole, because he's a freak athlete. He's just heavy. Like yeah, at 284 pounds, which I don't think he's playing at right now, I think he's weighing more than that, people are bouncing off of the dude. I don't think he's going to lose all that much if he lost a little bit of weight, because there are not a lot of people, and I'd say I can't think of anybody in the NBA right now who has his skill set. The only guy I've seen where people are bouncing off of them in the same type of way is somebody three inches taller than him, and actually just beat him last week, and that guy's name is LeBron James. We can start thinking about other players, Jokic, he was here in Atlanta last night. Jokic plays in slow motion, he's a giant human being. Ain't too many people as skilled as him outside of probably Joel Embiid for how big they are, but Zion, given his height and his center of gravity, I can't think of anybody else in the NBA like him right now, and sort of think that if he lost weight, would he still be as effective? Yeah, I think he'd still be as dangerous, and I'd still think he'd be busting ass, because if he lost 10 pounds, 20 pounds, or even if he slimmed out a little bit, there ain't nobody in the league going to stop this dude.

And that's what he's doing right now, 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS, Mark is here from Nova Scotia. Hey J.R., so I'll look at it like this, is the criticism fair? I think absolutely. Has it gotten too far? Probably.

I don't know, yeah, I'm just going to say yes. And I understand Stephen A. Smith, he said he's an entertainer, and all that stuff, okay, fine. But at the end of the day, I think what's also, I hadn't heard the reaction, you played some clips there from Zion, which I hadn't heard, I'd heard the Stephen A. take there the other day, and I thought he handled it well. I think he doesn't come across as a whiner, he takes it, he's going to say what he's going to say, which I think should be respected. And also, he's been putting up some pretty decent numbers there, and it's really easy to just go and make fun of him for being fat and for his extracurricular proclivities and all that stuff, and I get that it's funny and stuff, and I've been part of that too, but I actually have a new respect for Zion after I heard those clips that were played today.

Yeah, so I don't know. All the best to him. Does he need to lose some weight?

Absolutely. He probably can, and I think he can, I'm not going to give up on this guy, I think he can be a bona fide superstar in this league, and that's all I'm going to say. I hope so.

Well, thank you, Mark, for calling from Nova Scotia. I hope so. And that's what everybody criticizing him would tell you, even if they're going as far as calling him fat and he's eating everything, yeah, he is putting up good numbers, but I think anybody who really watches and understands, he can do more.

He can, which is crazy to think about. Let's see if we can actually get there. 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS, we've got a lot more to get into, I'm going to take more of your calls. We had a caller ask me about Shohei Ohtani, we're going to get into that, I want to talk about Will Leviss, we talked about DeVito, I'm going to get to your calls, when we come back from break, I'm going to talk to you about someone else who is in the same draft as Zion, having his own issues, that's John Marant, and then if you thought things in the NBA were crazy, and especially with these officials, like Jokic got tossed tonight, imagine if the GM came out of the crowd and punched the referee.

These are some of the things going on in the world, so maybe calling Zion fat isn't the worst of things. We have so much to do, it's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, I just wanted to say, man, I'm loving y'all's show, loving the way y'all do it, y'all speak honest, y'all speak the truth on this show here, I just wanted to send you guys your flowers tonight, man, I tell you, the callers are calling in and I really appreciate you guys.

Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. This is the JR Sport Brief Show here on CBS Sports Radio, yeah, I don't got no reason to say anything but the truth, that's it, I just tell you the truth and then I tell you how I feel about it, I don't need all the extra stuff, don't need no yelling, don't need no screaming, every now and then maybe I call somebody fat but I don't find it necessary. So we talked about fat Zion Williamson on the other side of the break, I didn't call him fat, Stephen A. Smith did, and I basically asked, you know, has it gone too far?

Eh, maybe, is it unnecessary, yeah sure, do I think it's gone too far, eh, I don't know, I know more so, I don't feel bad for Zion that much I know. Also know that the dude who was selected in the 2019 draft behind Zion, he ain't doing so well either, at least Zion ain't waving around guns or punching 17 year olds in the face, you might recall that Ja Morant is suspended, he's scheduled to be back next week for the Memphis Grizzlies, they need him, they also need Jesus and a few other players, but this week Zion is actually on the stand for punching that 17 year old in the head, excuse me, face. Joshua Holloway was 17 at the time and you heard the story by now, they at his house, they playing pickup basketball, Joshua Holloway is not just some neighborhood kid, he's actually someone who's a basketball prospect, a big time basketball prospect, until that they felt that I guess he was getting too big for his britches, and he decided to check the ball, not at the chest of Ja Morant how you typically would, but kind of just do the ball at his head, and Ja Morant then took that as an opportunity to say, oh, well what are you doing, what are we about, he said that Joshua Holloway kind of pulled his pants up in kind of a fighting stance and Ja Morant punched him in the head, that's the synopsis, and so no, there's no criminal suit going on right now, this is all civil, and it was documented as Ja Morant took the stand, this is from WREG News, take a listen to Ja Morant. Morant and his attorneys say Holloway threw a basketball at the NBA star hitting him on the chin, Holloway's attorneys has called Morant's claims a Hail Mary. Yeah it is, and then he took liberty to punch him in the head, he didn't tell him to get off my property, get out of my house, get out of my backyard, he punched him. I wasn't there, I don't know what happened, but I would think that you grown man, NBA player, I know he ain't all that damn old, but you would probably know a little bit better than to just punch a kid in the head, it comes with issues like these.

Somebody has to be an adult here, and hopefully Ja Morant comes back next week, and he is an adult, odds aren't necessarily in his favor given everything that's happened over the past year. 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS, and you know what, let me get this out the way, speaking of punching people in the head, it's not Ja Morant just hitting 17 years old, 17 year olds I guess, earlier this week, we had a football referee, I know if you hate the referees in the NBA and NFL, at least they don't get punched in the head, we had a Turkish football ref get punched by a Turkish club president, take a listen to this story from Sky News Australia. Professional soccer matches in Turkey have been suspended following a violent attack on a referee. The attack occurred at the end of a professional game in the country's first division. The official was punched in the face by one of the team's club presidents who has been arrested over that assault. Turkey's football federation has condemned the attack, blaming it on a growing toxic culture towards referees. So that's the president of a football club. He decided to punch the referee because his team gave up a game-tying goal that he didn't approve of, and so after the match, he went out there and he punched them, and of course he was arrested, just nutty. If you thought we got it bad here, Ja Morant punching teenagers, just look at football all over the world.

People are punching each other in the face. 8-5-5, 2-1-2 for CBS, let's go ahead and talk to Tony. He's calling from the great state of Washington.

From Vancouver, Washington, you're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Tony? Yeah, I don't want to pile on Zion, but he's sloppy and he's lazy. The problem is this is in the 1950s where pro athletes had to work on shipyards or work in a warehouse or run a jackhammer. He's got nothing better to do with his time than work on his body and his game. You know, he's the kind of guy that looks at food and puts five pounds on. There's some people who can eat it, eat it, eat it, and they don't gain no weight.

He's not that guy. I mean, he can eat like he wants as long as he gets in the gym and works it off. When you're trying to lose, you know, I've heard, I can't confirm this, D.R., but I've heard in the officers, he weighs up to 300, 400 pounds, but that's dangerous. Oh, Tony, I mean, that's, 300 pounds, yeah, that sounds reasonable, but 400 pounds, like, we don't need to pile on, man. Come on, Tony. I'm just saying that he put, you know, that's, it's hard to lose that weight and it's uncalled for because he's got nothing better to do with his time. We've heard that. He can eat like he wants as long as he works it off. Well, I hear you, Tony.

Thank you for calling from Vancouver. He's putting Zion at 400 pounds. All right, take it easy, man. Stop. Now you're doing too much. 300 pounds? Yes, maybe.

400? Let's chill. Benny's calling from New Orleans. You're on CBS Sports Radio. I don't feel bad about it.

I think he's a slickster with what I would call him. He hasn't been playing, I don't think half the time since he's been with the Pelicans. And then you got other deals. You got the Colts, they had Matt Ryan and he was running and doing everything. He had no offensive line and they got rid of him like boom. And then they got this guy Richardson and he gets hurt right away.

And then you got Watson. He gets hurt and he hasn't played much since he got all that money. And I think it's ridiculous that it's criminal to take all that money and just say, okay, I'm getting sold his shoulder surgery for the rest of the year and I'm going to take the money. Benny, what the hell does Matt Ryan and Anthony Richardson have to do with Zion Williamson?

Well, it's the same thing. It's like Zion Williams is a slickster, he's taking the money and he's not worrying about being in shape or nothing. And he's going to take off whenever he wants to with nickel and dime reasons. Well Benny, thank you for calling from New Orleans. Benny was about to tell me about, I don't know, Jackie Robinson and he's like, what?

Slickster? What the hell does Matt Ryan have to do with Zion? We haven't talked about Matt Ryan here in, I don't know, since the beginning of the season when he said, nah, I ain't playing for the Jets.

Let's leave Matt Ryan alone. I hope he's doing well. I guess he's doing well here on TV, watching these Falcons stink the joint up. I think fans maybe in Atlanta finally appreciate him. That guy is all over the map. Not Matt Ryan, the guy who just called Benny from New Orleans.

Maybe he's sitting around having a couple of those hand grenades. Anyway, that food down in New Orleans is good. We'd have to send Zion to a place with crappy food. I don't want to tick anybody off. I'm thinking of one NBA city in particular that I would think that the food is not good.

Hey, Shep, read my mind. What city am I thinking of? Go ahead, say it. It's not New York. I know that much. Keep going. Man, I'm trying to, I mean, there's, Phoenix?

Nah, nah, Mexican food is amazing out in Phoenix. Okay, got you. I'm stumped, JR. No, Keith, I want you, oh, well, here we go. They got three letters on their jersey. It's not your neck of the woods.

No, hell no. The food here is good. It's Oklahoma City, sorry. 855-212-4CBS.

It's 855-212-4CBS. We come back. Yeah, I'll get more of your calls on. I promise somebody will talk about Shohei Ohtani.

$700 million, too much? I'll give you my answer on the other side of the break. You're on CBS Sports Radio.
