JR explains just because Aaron Rodgers is allowed to practice doesn't mean he's going to play this season

Happy Wednesday night to you. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Super producer and host Dave Sheppard.

He's holding it down for us in New York City, and I appreciate you. Every single person hearing, listening to the sound of my voice right now. People listening on their local CBS Sports Radio affiliates.

People tuned in on the free Odyssey app, AUDACY. People locked in, Sirius XM channel 158, and everybody listening on a smart speaker. I'll be holding it down with you for the next three hours.

It's a four-hour show, though. I get started at 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 Pacific. I'm sitting in this studio here in Atlanta, Georgia.

I'm looking up at this screen in front of me. And there's a picture, a photo of Aaron Rodgers. We're going to talk about him in a second. Wild stuff. You missed the first hour of the show. We talked about the NBA end-season tournament. Is it good? Is it bad?

How have you enjoyed it? Now moving towards the knockout rounds. Got a guy like Jalen Brown not happy that they had to advance by embarrassing a team. They had a tie. The tiebreaker gets broken via point differential, and so they had to blow out the Chicago Bulls to advance, and they did. They won by 27 at one point. They won by 35. We talked about the Seattle Seahawks taking on the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow. We talked about the terrible ratings of the Black Friday game that featured the New York Jets.

And so, you know, let's just get into it. Because now they got Rob Salah talking on the screen here. I'm not going to say that I was shocked or surprised today that Macon Becton giving Aaron Rodgers a hug. Maybe if Macon Becton hung out with Aaron Rodgers more, maybe he wouldn't be hurt. But here's the deal.

You probably heard this. Aaron Rodgers is back in New Jersey. Aaron Rodgers was cleared for football activity. Nobody's going to hit this man.

Anybody who dares even get close to touching him is going to get destroyed. But he returned back to practice with the New York Jets. This man tore his Achilles 11 weeks ago. He had surgery 11 weeks ago. He tore his Achilles, let's remember this, opening night Thursday against the Buffalo Bills on September 11th. We have not even reached December yet.

Got to wait until Friday. Aaron Rodgers turns 40 years old on Saturday. And the news came down that the Jets, now that they've activated him here for practice, they got 21 days to figure out whether or not they want to take him off of injured reserve.

And if that were the case, he'd take on the Washington commanders a few days after that. Let me remind you. This is the New York Jets. This is a team that's four and seven. This isn't Aaron Rodgers who got hurt four plays into the season because he has to play or had to play behind that crap offensive line of the Jets. Are you going to feed a 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers coming off of Achilles surgery to the Wolves? Like, do you really think we're going to see Aaron Rodgers back out there this year?

Head Coach Robert Salah, he made it very clear. He spoke today and he said, look, Aaron wants to be out there with his teammates. He loves this organization. He wants to be with his teammates. He wants to be here. I think he's sacrificed so much already for the organization and himself and his teammates and he's doing it again. I think it's a testament to who he is as a human.

Well, I mean, I've heard him say plenty of things. I don't know if I want to go as far as a human. But football player?

Yeah, sure. Why not? Aaron Rodgers is trying to have the fastest comeback ever. If he plays on December 24th against the commanders, it will have been three and a half months since his Achilles surgery.

Nobody has ever come back faster than five months. Is Aaron Rodgers invincible? Is he like one of those guys from Highlander? Is he the Terminator? Is he Robocop?

Like, what is this dude? Is the ayahuasca that damn good? Do I need to go into a wellness retreat? Maybe I need to go to Oregon. Sit up in a dark room for a couple of days and maybe I'll come out and maybe I could turn water into wine. I'd like that.

I'd be drunk all the time, but I'd like it. Aaron Rodgers spoke because that's what he does, right? He talked to Pat McAfee and Aaron Rodgers went on to detail kind of his next steps and thoughts as he goes through his recovery. Well, I think the step is just getting back onto the field and doing some more like real football things, being able to throw to my teammates and go through some individual part of practice, I think will be kind of the next step to see what my lateral movement is like. And after going through some of these, you know, more football related moves, you know, how do I respond? How's my how's my leg respond to that as my Achilles, my foot, my heel, my calf?

How does all that respond? Calf. Speaking of a calf, unfortunately, Gary Payton's son tore his calf. Totally unrelated, but his son tore his calf, so he ain't there for the Warriors.

Be some time now. Aaron Rodgers. The Jets are four.

Do I need to repeat this? The Jets are four and seven. Has Aaron Rodgers looked at the New York Jets history?

I know what is, you know, what happened to one guy isn't necessarily going to happen to another, but it's already happened to him. It's like somehow, some way the New York Jets are cursed. How'd he do last year, JR? Who, Mr. Rodgers? Yeah, remind me, what happened in week 18?

And do they finish under 500? I'm forgetting. He walked off the field and cried against the Bears. Well, he's going to make a big difference coming back with a four and seven team, soon to be four and nine, right? Well, look, you think about the New York Jets the rest of the way. They got Atlanta. Atlanta's going to play them good. Atlanta's probably going to win.

But Atlanta's Atlanta. You got Houston. There's no way in hell the Jets are going to beat Houston, unless they trick CJ Stroud.

I mean, they got nobody, the Jets don't got a QB, that's the thing. Good luck against Miami. Good luck, I mean, even Washington. Good luck against Cleveland. And then they end the season against New England. But before they get to that, man, these three teams in front of them ain't going to be easy.

Atlanta, Houston, Miami, good luck. They could be worse. And if they are worse, why throw out Aaron Rodgers? Rob Salah continued on, and he went even further. He said, man, there is a reason that Aaron Rodgers could come back, and he's basically saying he got something to play for, listen. I think he still runs with the chip on his shoulder, and that's the way he lives his life, where he always wants to prove people wrong in terms of doubting them. And he's a special human, and I think his actions are showing how much he appreciates, I think, this organization and everything around him.

Yeah, I'd be a special human, too, if I was drinking that special juice, man, come on. This is the same Aaron Rodgers who said that Vince Lombardi in the front of the building looks kind of lonely. There's a reason for that. It's because Chad Pennington blew out his shoulder for the New York Jets and couldn't throw the ball more than five yards. It's because Vinny Testaverde blew out his own achilles when the New York Jets were actually, and I know this is a long time ago, this is going to sound real stupid to a lot of people. The New York Jets were actually favored to be one of the best teams in the AFC, and Vinny Testaverde, he was old, he blew out his achilles. Even if we add a few more things to the New York Jets accursed, I got to tell you about Bill Belichick resigning as head coach of the NYJ. Do you even know that, HC of the NYJ? Brett Favre joins the New York Jets, another Packer, and he ends up sending dirty pictures to people.

Don't do that. And then he got hurt. How bad luck can the New York Jets have when Mo Lewis does his job, he knocks the living hell out of Drew Bledsoe, and poof, Drew Bledsoe's gone, and Tom Brady is in. The Jets have the worst of luck. If somebody is sitting around with a pincushion of franchise voodoo dolls for the past, I don't know, let's just say since 1968, 69, 1970, somebody has been poking the New York Jets voodoo doll a whole hell of a lot. Because the Jets have stunk. And let's be real. I wouldn't mind, just for story purposes, I wouldn't mind seeing Aaron Rodgers out there, I'd be like, damn, this is admirable what he's done.

Maybe the thing, maybe the Achilles didn't tear all the way, maybe modern science is crazier than we think, I don't know, maybe all that ayahuasca and hallucinogens and mushrooms and whatever the hell he does, maybe he's invincible now, I don't know. I do know the Jets suck. I do know the New York Jets ain't winning nothing. I do know the offensive line has gone through, I don't know what, 8, 9, 10 different iterations and combinations like, like shut it down man.

Shut it, like Bill Walton used to say, shut it down big man, shut it down. We don't need to see Aaron Rodgers back. There'd be no reason for him to come back but to show everybody how tough he is and show everybody how determined and committed he is and for a man who for the past few seasons, people question how committed he is to, and particularly the Green Bay Packers. I guess he has to show the Jets that hey I'm sorry. Sorry I got hurt. I'm going to come back I'm going to try to play.

Even if we stink. Aaron Rodgers is basically, he'd be lining up to get slaughtered again behind that offensive line. What's supposed to change over the next three weeks. What's supposed to happen over the next three weeks with the New York Jets in that offensive line that's going to put confidence in you that Aaron Rodgers is going to stand up right. That man was already running for his life. His New York Jets career wasn't even what two minutes in. And then he was done he was out. Good for him with the miraculous comeback. God bless him.

Absolutely amazing. Whatever he got I want some of it. Maybe not.

I got to give credit to him. But coming back for the Jets going nowhere. Man go back to California. Come back next year. Maybe Rob Salah will have a new job by then. Not with the Jets. He'll be somewhere else. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Phone lines are open.

Real simple. 855-212-4CBS that's 855-212-4CBS Aaron Rodgers I guess he's invincible. Nothing could stop him.

That's why I'm going to give you a top 6 list in about I don't know 50 minutes from now. We're going to look at some other invincible athletes. But the question I have for you right now is. Should Aaron Rodgers come back? Is it worth it for him to come back?

Is it too risky? I understand his reasoning. I can appreciate him rushing to get back. It's amazing. But to come back and play for the Jets? It's like a plane sitting on a tarmac. Where are they going?

Nowhere. 855-212-4CBS that's 855-212-4CBS. Do you think Aaron Rodgers should even bother suiting up this season?

I say no. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side. It's the JR Sport Reshow. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. This is the first time I've ever listened to you but I'm going to be listening a lot more. You're enjoyable. I want to start with that.

First off, I love listening tonight for the first time. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Reshow here on CBS Sports Radio. Aaron Rodgers back on the practice field with the New York Jets today. They got an option of activating him off of injured reserve.

Do they need to? I mean, if he is to return, Aaron Rodgers would be back right before Christmas against Washington. Jets got quite a few games before we get there. They're going to be playing the Falcons this Sunday. They have Houston.

They have Miami. And then if they do activate him off of injured reserve, then the first time he'd be able to go out there and play is against Washington on Christmas Eve. Aaron Rodgers is going to be 40 this upcoming Saturday on December 2nd.

Happy early birthday to him. If he is to return on December 24th, that will be three and a half months from when he had surgery for his torn achilles, which he tore on September 11th. There hasn't been a guy in the NFL to come back faster than five months. He's trying to do this in three and a half. He's made out of something different.

God bless him. I'll just tell you this, though. It's going to be some tough going, man. If the Jets are going nowhere, I guess he would only come back for moral support in his own life.

Moral support in his own ego, I guess. It ain't going to be to win no football games. It's not going to be to compete for a championship.

Everything is risky, right? You're playing in the NFL. Dudes are going to get hurt. Is it worth it for him to go out there and play?

I don't think so, man. The offensive line, I'm not just saying this. The offensive line is garbage.

Garbage. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

Josh is here from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Thanks for taking my call. So I keep on hearing from the media about there's no reason for him to come back. I've listened to you the last 20 minutes saying it. Do you think that possibly having some camaraderie and having reps with his players for next season has a little bit of value, even though they're mathematically out of it? You said there's no reason for him to come back.

Maybe he's trying to build a rapport with his players for next season. I think I mentioned that. I can sit here and I can list out the pros and the cons.

I can list them all out. I think when you think about the possibility of him going down and being destroyed again, but behind a crap offensive line, I think that would go ahead and trump all. I have one more question for you. The reason he shouldn't play is because there's nothing to play for mathematically out of it. He could get hurt. What if he was playing this entire season and they were eliminated last week mathematically and Rodgers quit and said, I don't want to play anymore and said, because I'm 40 and because we're mathematically out of it.

Would you be supporting that decision? We don't live in a world of what ifs. You asked me a question and you cut me off before I responded. I'm giving you the answer. You said I don't live in a world of what ifs. That's what you said.

Can I finish? Yeah, brother. So don't say anything else.

Thank you. I don't play the what if game. I live in the world of reality. There hasn't been a player as far as I know outside of Vonte Davis to say, you know what? I don't want to play anymore and decide to walk away. And so it's not a matter of hey, I've been mathematically eliminated.

Let me go ahead and leave because it's not the case. The reality is Aaron Rodgers got hurt. He got hurt early behind a crap offensive line.

Not a coincidence. He didn't play. That's the reality.

And here we are with a team that can't drive the football down the field because of the offensive coordinator, because of the offensive line. He's done. And if he comes back, then, like I said, God bless him. But I see no reason outside of hey, I'm healthy. I do it.

This is a personal goal of mine. If I got to think about the team and trying to be competitive for next season, I probably bristle against that. He can go outside and he can sprain his ankle by walking onto the grass. Yes, it's football. Anybody can get hurt. But to build camaraderie and try to, you know, get reps in for next season, man, he got OTAs. You got an entire offseason to go out there and do that. It's just dangerous.

And of course everything is dangerous. It's just the bad outweighs the good for a team that can't get out of its own way. It sucks. 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. We got Ken calling from Colorado.

You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up? Yeah. How's it going? Good, man. What's going on?

Not much, man. This Aaron Rogers debate is crazy to me. I mean, there's no absolutely no reason for him to go come back.

He's going through the gauntlet with the upcoming schedule. The only reason for him to come back is the prove to the coaching staff that they should keep their jobs and say no hack. It is the biggest bomb in the NFL. He can't coach an offense. Sean Payton came back to Colorado and turned Russell Wilson around. If you know Hackett, debatably had one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of football in Denver. If they know Hackett is that's the only reason Aaron Rodgers should come back. Well, thank you, Ken, for calling from Colorado.

I'm not going to go that far. I mean, the reason let's let's also keep this in mind here. The reason that Aaron Rodgers is on the Jets right now is because of Nathaniel Hackett. And if the Daniel Hackett was not there, I think the Jets would be a little bit more hard pressed to be attractive to Aaron Rodgers to have even showed up. Nathaniel Hackett was there before Rodgers. There's a reason why Randall Cobb is there and not doing a damn thing. There's a reason why Allen Lazard is there.

And unfortunately, he got benched. I mean, we can start taking off all the line items that they they basically gave him a writer. Aaron Rodgers basically gave them a writer.

And they acquiesced and they said, yeah, sure, fine. Of course, we're going to bring in your OC. And so, yes, Nathaniel Hackett. And we certainly know that Sean Payton gave a we took a massive dump on him as a head coach.

That's that's that's not to say. That Hackett getting rid of him is what's that going to do? Make Aaron Rodgers go, why am I here? The Jets have done everything that this dude wants, everything. The Jets sold out to bring in Aaron Rodgers because it's the Jets.

Why not sell out? They got no other choice. What are they going to do? Just swim around in mediocrity forever.

So they swung for the fences. They bring in Aaron Rodgers and they're going to try to get everything they possibly can out of him. Eight, five, five, two and two for CBS. Let's go to Georgia and let's talk to Mike. Mike, you're on CBS Sports Radio.

Dropped. OK, Mike fell asleep. Let's go to Juan.

He's calling from Pennsylvania. What's up, Juan? Hey, how's it going? Going good, man. What's up? A couple of things.

First note I wanted to make was and listen, I understand completely different scenario, but I'm surprised no one on the radio has talked about CEO coming back home and broken in six weeks. And that at the time during that era seems basically impossible. We slept in a hyperbaric chamber every night. I think that was when Dr. James Andrews came on the map as far as treating celebrities or professional players and all that. And he came back for Super Bowl and had arguably one of the top five receiving efforts in Super Bowl history. I know it's different here for Rogers, but if it's possible, I say why not do it? The Jets went on a run last year, but they started winning impossible games. And although didn't end up with them doing much of anything, I still think that these games coming up are winnable. If Boyle can just be manageable, the defense can hold it down.

And if Rogers can come back, I say, why not? And the last thing I wanted to say. How many times have you seen Tim Boyle playing the NFL? Oh, not very much. I'm understanding.

OK, that's one thing. How many New York Jet games have you watched this season? I watch them all, actually. Why? Are you a Jets fan? No, I'm a Cowboys fan. And you're watching every Jets game? Why? I got to have Garrett Wilson on my thing. Oh, man, we got to find you something else to do, man. Oh, go ahead. I watch all the teams. It's one of my hobbies.

I try to suck it through all the games, get some analysis down, just some things to talk about with my guys. The last one I wanted to make was I myself ruptured my back when I was active duty in the Marine Corps. I wasn't even aware of it. But I was back on my feet and running around in under three months.

And listen, I know military training and playing football are two completely different things. And even even what I had was a miracle. It shouldn't have happened, but I seriously was running damn near full speed in under three months.

And I had a pretty bad pair. So you must be on that ayahuasca to then one, huh? It's it's it's not a medical miracle, to be honest.

It all depends on everyone's different. Again, can makers made it back in five months. But again, it's also due to, you know, what you're going to be up to during that healing process.

I know for Rogers, it's probably even more important than it was for Akers because he got a throwback on that foot. Yeah. Yeah. No, no doubt. And we know.

And thank you, Juan, for calling from P.A. But look, look, there's a difference between five months and I know one is a running back three and a half months. And look, if it was so easy, the caveman would do it right. Like, damn, maybe Aaron Rodgers is a caveman.

Maybe that's why this works for him. It's not look, we can sit here and go, oh, the Jets can go on a run. The Jets can go on a run. The Jets, historically speaking, are threatening records that no one wants to touch. Third down efficiency.

They cannot move the ball on first, second or even third down. I'm talking about historically bad. And so if you think that they're going to end, of course, they could turn things around. Would I be all falling out of my chair if the Jets beat the Falcons? No, I wouldn't.

Not at all. Any given Sunday. Right. We notice. And I've seen the Falcons play, too.

I watch both teams every game, unfortunately. If he comes back, great. I'm going to be looking at this man going.

Don't run for your life, bruh. And please, God, don't go out there and blow it out again. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to get some more of your calls. Good idea, bad idea for an Aaron Rodgers return. I'm going to tell you about another athlete making a return tomorrow. And then at the top of the hour, it's going to be time for a new top six list. I don't know if Aaron Rodgers is invincible. I'm going to give you a top six list of invincible athletes.

These folks have already been through the grind. It's the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. I've been following you on Facebook for the last eight years, and it's like you're always grinding, always doing your thing, making videos in your house and everything like that. We're out in basketball courts, and it's like, wow, you're on the radio now. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS.

It's the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio. I'm going to give you a new top six list at the top of the hour. You don't got to wait too long, too much longer for that. We're going to take a look at some of the most, I don't want to call them invincible, but I will.

Invincible and destructible, just athletes with ridiculous longevity and ridiculous accomplishments and results. So that top six list is coming at the top of the hour, about 20 minutes from now. So don't don't wait too much longer. Don't wait too much longer. Right before we went to break, we talked about someone who is he's building up his own resume of invincibility. The Jets have activated Aaron Rodgers onto the 21 day practice, not squad, but window. And he could be eligible to play as soon as Christmas Eve against Washington. Cam Akers returned from a torn Achilles in five months. If this all goes according to plan, if Aaron Rodgers plays. He could do he could do the return in three and a half months.

That would be pretty wild. 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS. Let's go to the phones right now and see who we have here. Hey, chef, who's next up on the line? Chef, who is Mr. Positivity? Good friend of the show, Greg in Michigan. What's up, Greg?

How are you? Hey, J.R., thanks for taking my call. You stole my thunder in the sense that, yeah, Aaron doesn't really have to come back now. He's got to let it heal. Don't be surprised if he becomes like Burrow.

Burrows, he re-injures it because you never know how you're going to move, twist to get out of a tackle. You know, everything is measured when you do it right now. But he's got an ego and he loves the camera. And hopefully I can get away with saying this. He might be an attention whore, which I don't mind, you know, because he's trying to do good in the world. But you sense that he does it for the vanity of being in the public eye, being a part of things that, you know, he should rest. Get that heal really healed.

Sorry about the whatever. But, you know, he doesn't have to prove anything. And I just feel like I was right with Burrow getting hurt again. Because you're always in the back of your mind, you're thinking, oh my God, you know, can I really, really twist at this? Can I really explode? And I mean, you know, like I said, that's a tendon that blood doesn't get to.

It takes a lot longer to heal than a muscle. And it's just, you're right, he has nothing to prove. But yeah, and I'm looking forward to that beautiful list. Oh my God, I can think it through right now. But I think you're going to probably say them.

Well, you don't got to wait too much longer for the top six. Well, Greg, thank you for calling. Always appreciate you, man. Likewise.

No problem. Yeah, and I think it's true. And I don't have to, you know, feel strongly where I feel cautious about saying it. Of course Aaron Rodgers has an ego. Who doesn't have an ego? When you have the success that he has had and then you do the things that he does and say the things that he says and utilize the platform, of course he has an ego.

And ain't nothing fully or wholly wrong with that. I mean, you can feel free to disagree with some of the things that he says and what he doesn't say. But of course, yes, he has an ego.

I think we know that. And yes, he's also been sensitive. We saw that on his way out of Green Bay. I'm not going to take away from him being competitive, though. I'm not going to take away the fact that he is one of the best quarterbacks that I've ever seen play. And a lot of times because of him opening up his mouth, especially more recently, even with the MVP. That gets lost at times.

It really does. And so, yeah, I think he's a competitor. I think he is fighting to get back to show everybody and show himself that he can. But then, yeah, I think there's a part of him that also wants to show everybody that that's what he wants to do.

I think all can be true. 855-212-4CBS. Irvin, calling from Louisiana. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Hey, good afternoon. Good night.

I'm not going to address the organization of Jets because I'm down here in New Orleans with the Saints and the Pelicans. I'm going to address the man, the person. He's arrogant. He's got a chip on his shoulder because he's ending his career. He's moving toward the end. So just waiting for next year may not be an option. Now, to all the medical experts out here, we have not seen his medical prognosis.

It could be a partial tear, micro tear, and no surgeon is going to release him back to the team unless he's ready to go. And the last thing I'll say, I admire this man. And I would go to battle with this guy over A.D. street clothes or Zion or Michael Thomas because he's a warrior. He's a fighter. And I admire that for him. And that's his decision. If he messes his body up, I'll give it to you.

No, absolutely. It's his decision. I mean, even Rob Salah said, look, if the doctors give him the go ahead, great. Yes, if the doctors give him the go ahead and Aaron Rodgers, it's up to him whether or not he wants to come back in return. The New York Jets and I said this earlier this year and I said this here on CBS Sports Radio.

I've said this on WFAN or New York City, where I also host. This team is Aaron Rodgers team for as long as he's here. The buck doesn't stop at Rob Salah. The buck stops with Aaron Rodgers and what he wants to do. And it's apparent because in order for the New York Jets to bring him in, they basically had to say, yeah, man, you you're going to do whatever the hell you want to do. And the New York Jets got a short window. And if they don't win anything here with Aaron Rodgers, they're cooked.

And that's the dangerous part. Do I think the Jets want to see him back out on the field? I think if you were to ask Rob Salah and and maybe outside of his own job security and the same thing for Joe Douglas. I think the the the answer would be, no, we need to just let this dude just heal up and play next year because we ain't winning nothing this year. If you've watched the New York Jets, they ain't winning a damn thing. There is no idea of, well, let's get a let's, you know, tie up and and get used to the receivers.

Now, man, throw that crap out the window. You got plenty of time. New York Jets have a massive investment into this guy. You want to see him healthy, not go out there and, quote unquote, risk it. And I'm sorry, there's still a healing process, even if the doctors say, oh, man, you you're still able to go out there and play. Man, he ain't 100 percent.

You got to work into that. He ain't been hit. He ain't in football shape.

You want to do that a couple of weeks before the season ends? I think most people would tell you, ah, don't make no sense, bro. This ain't jump rope. It's not. It's football. The same way that you you got your ass busted four series or excuse me, four plays into the season.

You could be out of here just as fast. Davis calling from Miami. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Dave?

A long time. I just want to talk about Rogers very briefly and make a statement. Rogers shouldn't come back. It was a bad move to trade for him because maybe in their mind, they're thinking this is Rogers from 10 years ago. But my second comment is that it comes down to management because Zach Wilson, it's not his fault. He's the way he is. And it's not Robert Salas is the owner.

They have no mentorship system at all with this team. I've been a life lifelong fan and I have to turn my back on them now, just like some good fellows. I turn my back and just that was my last New York team. Wow. OK. OK. OK, Polly. All right. Thank you.

Thank you. Now I turn my back. OK. Well, thank you, Dave, for calling from Miami. He's like, wow, I've got a jet fan. He's going to be a dolphin fan now. What a turncoat that guy is. Look, Mr. Bandaid Man, that's his name, Woody Johnson. Johnson and Johnson family. Is it wholly his fault?

I don't want to go that far. Certainly Joe Douglas. He's the one who selected Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson was a competent quarterback. They wouldn't have to go out there and make the trade for Aaron Rodgers. And if you are the New York Jets and you have a history of, I don't know, no success.

You you got to swing for the fences at some point. And if Aaron Rodgers didn't go down. They would have been competitive here in the AFC. I mean, look at it.

It's a slop show. Like, what's what's the best looking two teams? The Kansas City Chiefs in Baltimore. Everybody else is kind of just is kind of waiting by the wayside. Buffalo hasn't played up to the standard where they've been over the past few years.

I don't fault the Jets for swinging for the fences because typically they don't do nothing. Steve is here from San Francisco. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Steve?

Hey, Jay. You're right. You know, this is this is the show. This is the world, according to Aaron Rodgers here.

It is ego driven. OK. Also, too, there's something else crappy there, I guess, too. That field is crappy. That's what all the players say as well. Oh, yeah. I don't know how he wants to go back out there and play on that field again. Yeah. We just saw Phillips from the Dolphins go down.

He blew out his Achilles just on a push off. We have seen over over the seasons that NFL players and thank you for calling from San Francisco. Oh, one more. Yes, please.

Go ahead. Oh, OK. Yeah. And then I was going to say he had an ego out here with the 49ers, as you remember, JR. Remember, he didn't get drafted by them. So every time he'd come around San Francisco, oh, they should have drafted me. And then in the playoffs, his record is 0 and 4 against the 49ers.

He did not get his retribution. Yeah, well, we know he is someone to hold a grudge. And unfortunately, even in his personal life, Steve, we've seen that come to fruition. So thank you again for calling from San Francisco. Look, I'm not going to fault the Jets for taking him.

I think his personality and his public issues and his private issues that have played out publicly. Yeah, we can we can kick him around for all of that. I think it's cool that he's attempted to come back. I just don't think from a a team perspective that they should just say, hey, yeah, man, you ready to go?

Go do it. But Aaron Rodgers, from the day that he signed on the dotted line on the trade, at least. He got the just by the balls.

He could do what he want. And that'll be the case for as long as he wants to play, because it's the Jets. It's the J.R. Sportbrief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. We're going to take a break. And on the other side of this break, I'm going to give you a new top six list. Aaron Rodgers trying to show everybody that he's invincible. I'm going to give you a top six list of invincible athletes. The longevity is ridiculous. Don't move.
