I told you I told you we'll talk about Mark not Mark Jackson but Dr. J his top 10 and Steph Curry talking about greatest of all time. The U.S. women's national team is gonna play in about two hours from now. Yes they're on the other side of the world getting ready to take on Portugal. So we have a busy night. MLB trade deadline. We've talked about that but I gotta talk about this first. This is absolutely ridiculous. Hey Shep I thought I was being punked for a minute. I came across a list of some of the the most interesting names in college football. Shep I had to look up these names. These are real names Shep. Now are you are you I'm going to read every single damn one of these names.

Okay. And this is not a joke. And then we can listen to Sean Payton. We can we can get into all of that. But you have to listen to these names. Are you ready for this.

I am Jay. What list is this derived from first and foremost though. Not ball sack. So I'm not I'm I have not been sacked here. Okay. Guys I just want to know if the source is credible.

Should we take this seriously or not. For starters this is the list this is from 24-7 sports. Okay so they have some pull they have some credibility. All right let's I'm curious with this list. And I googled these names.

Yeah. There's a defensive back on Alabama called Kool-Aid McKinstry. His first name is Kool-Aid. That's his name Shep. His name is Kool-Aid.

Wasn't he a starting corner. Right. Like he's actually pretty good.

Kool-Aid McKinstry. Yeah. Yeah he's he's he's expected to go on the drive right. Right. Yeah he's he's actually a potent player.

Like he's NFL bound. Why would you. But yes. Why are you.

Why are you calling your kid Kool-Aid. But that's not as I think his name is like DeQuincy right. I don't care. Right. There's another defensive back for Louisville. His name is Storm Duck. There's a defensive back for LSU. His name is Major Burns.

There's a defensive back for I don't know what this is. His name is Dude Person. First name Dude. Last name Person. Max von Marburg. Okay fine.

Octavius Oxendide. Okay. Kentucky.

Boston College. This man's name is Shata Salah. His first name Shata.

It's spelled in a way in a word that I cannot say on the radio. Copy that. There's a jumper. There's a jumper.

Copy that. There's a gentleman that is a linebacker named Chief Borders. There's a guy on Duke. This is a joke. I'm I'm I'm being punked on the radio.

I'm punking myself on the radio. Well Jared this is all well and good. Right. I think the greatest name in sports and he's one of the all-time great linebackers to ever play football. Yeah. Dick Butkus. Yeah Dick Butkus. Right. I mean that's the name that you go to when it comes to just. I think we're over that one right? Right.

Like the first time you hear it. Yeah like I just think with these college players I mean 24-7 I mean is there that little to talk about in college? There is a dude. Right. His name he's a linebacker for Duke. He was born in London, England. I don't know his story. His name his first name is Memorable. His last name is Factor. Memorable Factor is his name. Right. So Jared not to.

There's a there's a no wait there's another defensive back. His name his last name is Bility. Yeah. His first name is Moe.

M-O-H. Moe Bility. Okay. Parker Titsworth. Oh geez. Tiger Shanks. Fish McWilliams. Gotta be a nickname.

Right. Fish McWilliams. Jaden Muskrat.

Panda Askew. Oh we know come on we know this one. General Booty. I know General Booty. Dacoldus Crawford. I know Dacoldus. There's D'Realis Clark. Uh-huh.

Fat Watts. And Rowdy Beers. All nicknames. Good for them. Most of them. Some of them. Kool-Aid. Okay.

Nice nickname. Okay. Go ahead Shep.

Sorry go ahead. Well look I I'm not the biggest college football fan but what I do know is I feel like they're missing the boat. I feel like they're missing the boat. Like that's a nice list and all but there are some transcendent college football players this year. Like I think there's two guys that stand out to me. When you look at what's going to happen in 2024 if they were eligible this year they would have gone number one and number two.

That's how great they are. Do you know who well I'll give you a hint. Wide receiver. Ohio State.

His dad is probably one of the five. Oh Marvin Harrison Jr. He is off the charts good and then there's a quarterback that was obviously dominant at USC would have without question been the number one overall pick had he been eligible in 2023 and that is Caleb Williams. We're talking about maybe the two greatest college football players we have seen in the last two decades. I understand Trevor Lawrence is in that discussion.

Obviously a guy like Tim Tebow but these two players they are they're going to light the college football world on fire. I would like to see something as credible as 24-7 sports or whatever they call themselves discuss that then be really silly and heinous about these players names which they can't help with. I don't know I don't think they're being heinous about their names.

Okay. It's on the facts man it's just like these are the right some of the names in college football. Yeah and they highlight that I'm looking at this on Instagram they're highlighting nothing but amazing players. Okay oh oh go go oh okay that wasn't um that wasn't like satire about their names. No but as a fun post they said this is the all name team.

Ah okay I I fit every other post is about highlighting I mean guys committing right top no it's it's a it's a good page here. You know you got a tight end in your backyard that might be one of the all-time great tight ends when it's all said and done. Oh oh over in Georgia? Yes yes. Bulldogs?

Yes you know what I'm talking about right? Yeah well I can't remember his name. Brock Bowers man. Oh yes no he's a beast. Yes no he's big as hell.

No he's yes he is uh he's a freaking nature. He he bullies dudes and now here's the thing the Bulldogs have such a schedule this season that they uh he's gonna really be abusing people because the Bulldogs got teams on their schedule that don't even know where these schools are man. It's why it's why Harbaugh's suspension is not that real it's not that you know legitimate because you know that's cupcake schedule 101. What Harbaugh because he claimed I didn't know anything.

Yeah yeah the four game suspension if you really want to penalize these coaches you you do it against in our tribal you do it against Ohio State you know you do it against you know and obviously the Big Ten you know conference championship game you do it in the college national playoff not that Michigan with Harbaugh does anything anyway but you get the point. Can anybody really be surprised that that Harbaugh was lying I mean it's the same dude whoever he is says hey I ain't looking back at the NFL and he sits down and takes interviews I mean yeah I wonder if he has does he have any uh funny names on his team? I don't know I'm I'm I am curious though because obviously Georgia I think they're like one of five teams in the last 70 years to go back to back and I and I don't mean to put you on the spot JR I don't know if there's ever been a school in the history of college football that has gone back to back to back I think they're looking to make college football history in an era that's more competitive than we've ever seen. Nah there's been no I think there was one team what what team was it with a three-peat I think it's happened once before.

Okay so I mean Minnesota I believe is the team right 30s okay okay got it I thought that might have been it got it. And that's that's almost damn it 90 years ago almost a full century ago. Babe Ruth was playing baseball then. Yeah we know where Babe where's he at now. Well Babe Ruth has been dead for I want to say almost 80 years now he died in 47 I believe that was Yogi's rookie year. Yeah he he ain't here. No he's not we know that much.

Yeah he's been gone for a long time. I I've talked about this I was uh I was on 92-9 the game yesterday morning talking about the uh of all my folks here in Georgia and Atlanta talking about the Bulldogs and I just think that it doesn't it doesn't matter who's on the team I know I don't care who plays quarterback and I know Stetson Bennett is gone and it feels like half of the damn defense has gone on to to play for the Philadelphia Eagles it's just tough to win three in a row man so I the odds are against them to do so do I expect them to go into the playoff again and and and win the SEC East yes I I do but to win three in a row I mean Kirby Smart talks enough about complacency we can't beat complacency we're not battling the other teams we're battling complacency it's uh it's tough look if the Georgia Bulldogs do it I'd be thrilled I'd get me another sweatshirt and I'd be straight with it but to go and win three in a row hey good luck to them and who the hell knows how college football is going to continue to change with all of the people moving around conference this conference that people are moving everywhere that we're going to have uh Oklahoma and Texas moving on into the SEC it's uh it's it's interesting changes upon us eight five five two one two four CBS it's eight five five two one two four CBS we got uh James he's calling from Jacksonville hey James you're on CBS sports radio what's going on hey JR yes you're live on the radio what's up not much man you talked about the women's national team earlier yes now look I know there's some political division going on with that team end of the day though these women are Americans with their rights and I'm thinking hard and I can't think of any other international U.S. team that has won international accolades including world cups and the women's national team and I just want to bring that up you you're correct they have three of them well well but I'm I'm confused as to why you bringing that up we know that they're that they've been good they won three world cups and the world cup for women wasn't played for the first time I think since 91. I think that was the first time it took place so well get out of here man oh what are you doing what's what's wrong with this guy what's wrong with this guy you can't say that on the radio we dumped it that's yeah oh my goodness give the he said that they he has a lot of friends who give the women crap well you got stupid friends man get some new friends can't say that on the radio though call five years in baseball okay that's the New York Yankees so to me did you just watch today's game remember let's take you back if you did they they called up Johnny Brito because the bingo herman had an injury ailment right and then today he pitched five perfect innings okay I thought judge was going to be out for the whole entire year there were reports of him his toe just mysteriously you know hurting him right now he's back and then the second game they sit him now Josh Donaldson has a calf injury but today on batting practice he was taking live balls he's like oh I can play it's like what is up with these injuries man because it's just like it drives me crazy that no other team in baseball is literally like this everyone gets injured in all sports but the way they go about it is just so mind-boggling one day away from the trade deadline you're holding on to guys um every and then they come out and say oh in our walk year we're going to trade guys you think anybody wants ikf or Harrison Bader or Severino 746 ERA like come on all right well I can summarize this uh the Yankees offense sucks okay I mean what else can we say I said everything that you just said and I said it in about three seconds the Yankees offense sucks 230. 230 batting average which is the lowest since 1968 for them which is impressive but it's just is judge the most valuable player in baseball the answer is yes because it's like they can't hit and it's been this way for years and he's been watching them right I mean yeah well I don't think that puts them in the space of what you said and I know you're being facetious oh this is the worst team in major league baseball but uh hey look hey we'll see what happens tomorrow we have no idea what the Yankees will do during the trade deadline I don't see them being world series contenders and you are correct Aaron Judge with or without him in the lineup the Yankees need about five more of him to actually generate some offense thank you for calling from California when you actually think about the New York Yankees and what they may or may not do uh look they lost to Tampa tonight five to one their manager Aaron Boone he spoke to the media he was asked whether or not anything was going to happen during the trade deadline and this is what Aaron Boone had to say we'll see look I mean I don't know how many hours it is now um we'll see you know uh we'll see what they do um we got to play better we know that I think everyone in that room knows that we're capable of playing better and that's that's what that's what we have to control right now different jobs and uh I keep listening to your show and I listen to it every night while I'm here I put in like a earbud and listen to it and I just you know you're funny and you you got you know your stuff and uh and you can go ahead with your question oh well thank you man I'm fooling a lot of people um yeah I've been here since 2020 I just finished three full years uh when you say you're flipping chickens I mean that means that means quite a few different things where I'm from uh all right what exactly does that mean are these chickens alive are they dead like what is this I work at Harrison Poultry in Bethlehem Georgia down the street from Winder so I work at a chicken poultry factory oh so these chickens are alive yeah they're alive I don't actually work in the live hang but uh like you know I'm in the box room making the boxes to put the tops for like when they get deboned and cut up you know uh uh uh uh okay yeah yeah yeah yeah you flipping these chickens man you flipping these what has have you ever seen peter outside your job no I have not okay we may have peter calling me up you better be careful uh-oh have you seen all right have you seen the thing with the the vegan restaurants now make vegan bones for the vegan chicken have you seen that yet that sounds disgusting no I have not yeah they say they're selling full bones like fake bones to wrap the the the uh what are you the vegan the chef help me out here you know what I'm talking about right I don't unfortunately I wish I'm not gonna lie to you so you know there's vegan chicken right it's like plant stuff that tastes like yeah plant-based yes but I don't know right so now so now they have yes but now they have they have fake bones so you get soy vegan is that weird no they have fake bones so you can put you know like a chicken like you put a chicken wing in the fryer of the oven yes come on guys okay there's like tofu there's there's there's no listen to me the way that you chef you wouldn't you know you put a chicken in the fryer in the oven right you know that a chicken wing right yeah but I'm not emerald grassy here yeah so what I'm saying is in order to do this like vegan style so you can actually like I don't know pretend like you're eating a chicken wing right you you they have fake bones where you can wrap the the the the plant-based chicken around the fake bone so you can put it in the oven you get what I'm saying now yeah that that's that's going a little bit too far hey listen if people are gonna buy it and eat it I guess so Falx Falx t-bones I mean I'm really trying I'm really trying to reach bowl bones yes fake yes fake bones so you can put chicken in the oven or or uh plant-based chicken in the oven so you can eat like a fake wing yeah I'm I'm good on that see Coleman I should know this but I unlike JR I don't cook like I don't know what you're like Jay you're like Jay you don't what do you I said unlike JR oh I don't I don't cook the only thing I can do is scrambled eggs pancakes boiled brown rice and I would say make like you know um I would say make like um like pasta and like rigatoni yeah we gotta get you we gotta get you down here in Georgia and Coleman will show you how to flip a chicken but here's the thing when you work in New York City and you and you pretend you're a male more often than not you're just you're just doing grab and go okay want a Justin Verlander and if Justin Verlander had it his way that he would prefer to return to the Houston Astros as opposed to going back to or going to the Dodgers I should say Justin Verlander making 43 million dollars this year 43 million dollars the next year he can make 35 million dollars the next season if he stays healthy next year and the New York Mets might have to go ahead and and win some well get his hands on some cash if he if he continues on let's see Justin Verlander 35 vest if he stays healthy he can make that 35 mil and the New York Mets they they ate some of Max Scherzer's contract to get him the hell up on out of dodge and Steve Cohen I mean he just throws around money like it's absolutely like it's nothing hey Shep what what happened here with with Verlander he spoke about a potential trade you know whether something is imminent or not after win number 250 if you want to hear it yeah let's hear him see what happens obviously I have a no trade clause so I have some ability to to control my destiny I'm just the type of person that likes to gather information you know no idea who's interested what's going on what's you know who Billy has been speaking with like I said I'm committed to trying to win a championship here but if if the organization decides that that's not exactly the direction that they think is best fit to go for next year and go for it again then yeah I would be more open to it yeah go back to Houston just just leave just just be traded New York Mets can pick up part of his salary and he can move on simple as that veggie dogs I had a big family reunion one two weeks ago I had 450 people there and my cousin called me to say hey pick up some vegan dog veggie dogs so I'm looking at the hot dog section I got chicken dogs turkey dogs no vegan dogs so nobody in food line knows where the vegan dogs are so finally some old ladies say hey they're in the vegetable section why wouldn't you just eat vegetables instead of vegan dogs uh because why would you just eat salad yeah because it it tastes like a hot dog man I don't know but look when I got back to the family reunion the ladies that wanted the lady that wanted the vegan dog she had left because there was no there was enough for her to eat I had plenty of salad and vegetables have you ever had a salad that tastes like a hamburger no sir but look the cookout was between Richmond and Washington DC it was in Fredericksburg oh I know Fredericksburg now that's closer to DC man come on but look I had to look 30 minutes for the vegan dog by the time I got there she had left yeah well she let me tell you something I've had I've had the the plant-based meat and and you'd be shocked some of it's good I mean now is it too much salt is it too processed I mean we can say this about a lot of foods but there are there are some plant-based burgers that that taste delicious man yeah like I got no problem how about this I know this there's burgers that taste like beef I got no problem having a chef what is it being a bean burger yes black bean man I'll eat the hell out of a black bean burger I got no problem if it's good I'll eat it so I can understand someone who wants it like me like well I eat a hot dog yeah but it ain't my choice I might actually want to try a plant-based is do I still call it a hot dog I don't know but it mean do some of it sound like it go a little overboard for me yeah so I talked about the faux bones here we go faux bones are vegan bones made from various woods bamboo coffee pine this is strong it's not edible it's meant to give structure to plant-based meat and so basically if you want to eat a fake chicken wing you wrap your fake meat which is a plant around this bone it's a fake bone and you put it in the oven and you pretend that you're eating a chicken wing now for me that's doing too much if I want to eat this just put it in a bowl but I get it if you why make something an imitation
