Go ahead, pat yourself on the back. I'm gonna be hanging out with you for the next four hours. This is when I get started. 10 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 p.m. Pacific.

I, me, I don't know how else I can say it. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to our producer for tonight. He's been holding it down this week as well. Jack Stern is coming to you live from New York City. What an eventful day it's been in the NFL, and not for good reasons, terrible reasons.

How about this? Jalen Ramsey gonna have knee surgery on an injured meniscus. His ACL is okay folks, okay?

You don't have to worry about his ACL, but his meniscus, it needs some work. Jalen Ramsey not the only dude to go down tonight, or this afternoon I should say. Joe Burrow caught it off the practice field.

It looked bad. Nobody touched him. He was rolling out of the pocket. He was starting to scramble. He went down, was down for a few minutes. And you know, when nobody touches you and you go off the field, you think the worst. And we found out that he suffered a strained calf. And so football is gonna football, right? This is what happens. You get a bunch of giant human beings running around and somebody's gonna get hurt. Whether you get tackled or whether you get tackled by the turf monster. And so the worst part of the NFL has already taken place here.

And it's only July. We're gonna talk about Joe Burrow in a few minutes. We're gonna get into Jalen Ramsey and his injury. Saquon Barkley showed up to work.

He did. We know about that contract. Has incentives in it. Has a signing bonus. Saquon Barkley explained to everyone why he came back to work.

Why he showed up at work, I should say. Dalvin Cook still looking for work. He might be with the New York Jets this weekend. Speaking of the New York Jets, Sean Payton, the new head coach of the Denver Broncos. He basically annihilated the New York Jets offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett.

He also then decided to semi annihilate the New York Jets and Rob Salas. Like, listen, we minding our business over here. Why are you bothering us? There's a report about Ben Simmons and his health. Oh, it's positive, folks.

It's positive. Shohei Ohtani continues to show the hell out. Shohei makes no sense. He's a double header for the Angels today. I'll give you a spoiler. Shohei pitched a complete game in the first game. He's over here hitting home runs in the second.

Who does this? You're not supposed to do this. LeBron James' son is home. LeBron James says his son is good. Zion is not good.

Zion and his family are being sued. Terrible. Brock Purdy is speaking to the media after he's ready to start. This is just, it's a lot of football news and a lot of it is not good.

Here's the deal. If you follow me on social media at JR Sport Brief, you already know about everything we're going to discuss tonight. Outside of that, if you want to holler at me here on CBS Sports Radio by now, you should know the phone number. It's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Thank you to everybody locked in on the free Odyssey app. People tuned in on your local CBS Sports Radio affiliates, Sirius XM Channel 158 and everybody on a smart speaker. Let's not waste any time. Let's talk about the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback who went down. Who had to be carted off the field. Who for a moment you had to go, well damn, this is the worst part of the NFL and it's only training camp. Let's talk about Joe Burrow. He went down, was scrambling out of the pocket, kind of rolled to his right and then he started limping and then he went from limping to sitting on the ground and he went from sitting on the ground to holding his right leg and then he was carted off the field.

Cab string. Initially nobody knew what the hell was going on. You fear the worst. Let's keep this in mind. Joe Burrow in his rookie season is the same dude who tore his ACL and his MCL back in November. His rookie year was 2020 after he won that championship at LSU. Just last year, nobody talks about this because guess what? The Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow almost went back to the Super Bowl before they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe Burrow ruptured his appendix last year. Nobody talks about that. And so when he goes down to a torn ACL and an MCL and he rolls to his right and he goes down in the heat today, you think the worst. But thank God for the Cincinnati Bengals.

It is not the worst. It was a cap string. We don't know how long he's going to be out. He might miss the entire preseason. We might not see him until the start of the regular season. It's Joe Burrow.

Are you overly concerned? He was second last year in touchdowns in the NFL with 35. He threw for 4,475 yards and they had to open him up last year and they had to do something to his right.

And they had to do something to his ruptured appendix. So what is Joe Burrow invincible? Maybe he is.

I have no idea. I know this. He's been just ridiculously valuable to the Cincinnati Bengals. He's the reason that the Bengals are no longer trash.

It was years until they even made the playoffs and when they went back to the playoffs, went back to the playoffs, they went right to the damn Super Bowl. It's because of Joe Burrow. And so after he was carted off the field and after they cut short practice and Zach Taylor, the head coach, decided to speak and look Zach Taylor knows where his bread is buttered.

Zach Taylor knows his meal ticket. Zach Taylor talked about Joe Burrow and his injury and he basically said, what we all know, it's the NFL folks. People don't get hurt. This is football. Guys go down with an injury that maybe is a day thing.

Who knows? So we don't message the team after every single person goes down. There's a lot of guys that had soreness today that had that reps cut down a little bit.

So that's just part of playing football in training camp. It sounds like it's don't panic. Sure. Oh, what? Damn.

He's like, yeah, yeah, sure. Don't panic. Don't panic. Yeah.

French Montana. Don't panic. Look, what else is he supposed to say? It's not even August. Joe Burrow has a month.

Joe Burrow has more than a month before he's supposed to be, or at least anybody cares that he's out on the football field. Then sure. You want to go out there and you want to build continuity. Sure.

You want to go ahead and get your repetitions in. They have more than a month. September 10th is the start of the regular season for the Cincinnati Bengals. September 10th.

It is July 27th folks. Come on. Joe Burrow has time for his calf to heal up. Opening game of the season, Sunday afternoon against Deshaun Watson and those Browns. And of course the Cincinnati Bengals want him out there. If we think about every single division in the NFL, historically, the AFC North is nothing but a dogfight.

And it seems, and you would think that every single team in the AFC North will be destroying each other this upcoming season. Hey, I just mentioned Deshaun Watson, right? He has an entire start. He's had experience last year with the Browns and now he's not starting from behind the eight ball. You would expect Deshaun Watson now that he got his feet underneath him. Now that he can kind of hand the ball off to Nick Chubb and be a little bit more understanding about everything around him. Emari Cooper is out there. You would think that Deshaun Watson and the Browns will be better in the second season.

You would think so. Speaking of a second season, come on now. Let's go to my friends in Pittsburgh.

Shout out to my main man, Paul Zeiss. You would think Kenny Pickett moving into his second year, the Steelers last season. Did you expect them to have a positive record? Did you expect for the Steelers to be close, close, close, close, close, close to making a postseason?

The answer is no. I didn't. Somehow, someway, they finished with a positive record. Again, they finished nine and eight and you would think Kenny Pickett coming back for a second go round.

He ain't Deshaun Watson, but you would think having more familiarity with the NFL that he come back better than what he did last year, that he would continue to improve. And then in the AFC North, you got a team that you just stare at them and go, are y'all competing for a Super Bowl yet? Are you just winning 10 games, 11 games, 12 games, 13? How many games are you going to win?

We don't care. Are you going to go to the Super Bowl? And that's the Baltimore Ravens.

Come on now. Lamar Jackson just got paid. Every week, you don't have to wait for Friday night. Lamar Jackson's getting the money.

They got Odell Beckham Jr. out there as well. Every year that the Ravens don't win, anything. I mean, what are you going to do? Just you're going to still blame Greg Roman? I mean, people were standing outside the practice facility begging for this guy to be fired.

Well, now he's gone. Todd Monken is in. Lamar Jackson has weapons to work with. This division is going to be dangerous. The AFC North, and not because the Browns are there, but the AFC North is dog eat dog. And the worst thing about an NFL season, the actual season, it's always the injuries.

You don't want to see anybody go down at any point in time, but it's going to happen, especially a non-contact injury. Nobody wanted to see this for Joe Burrow. You could make the argument that behind that Patrick Mahomes guy, that Joe Burrow is the second best quarterback in the entire NFL. The hype around or surrounding Josh Allen, eh, it came and it went last year, right?

MVP this and MVP that and oh well, learn how to not do too much, okay? Joe Burrow can run. He could scramble, but he ain't doing too much. He's not lowering a shoulder. He's not trying to be Superman like Josh Allen. Joe Burrow's trying to pick you apart.

This man's been a winner since LSU, when he got a chance to fully play. You know how he goes down. So if you're a Cincinnati Bengals fan, I wouldn't fret. I wouldn't sweat. I'd be happy that Joe Burrow went down now, as opposed to going down later, because there is making up or there is not making up time when there is not making up time when a season gets underway against the Browns.

There is not. The Browns, the Bengals, the Ravens, the Steelers, they're going to destroy each other all season long. And so yeah, it looks bad. Yeah, it sucks. Joe Burrow goes down. Big news, July. Oh no, he almost tore his leg. Oh no, terrible. Let's be optimistic. Let's look at the bright side. The good thing is, yeah, injuries suck at any point. Injuries really suck when you think about the preseason and training camp. But on the bright side, just like his appendix last year, Joe Burrow should be fine. And looking at a team that went to two AFC title games, two consecutive AFC title games, a team that didn't even smell the playoffs before the past two seasons, I'm going to be happy that Joe Burrow got hurt now, as opposed to later, because the Cincinnati Bengals are still at the top of the division until somebody comes through and knocks them off. And that includes the team that's been, I don't want to say running in place, but trying to, you know, accelerate. It's the Ravens.

I'll go ahead and put it this way. Bengals, Ravens, flip your coin as to who's going to win the AFC North. And then you got the Steelers and the Browns. Oh, flip another coin as to who will finish third and fourth.

It wouldn't shock me if everybody finished close to, I don't know, about nine to ten wins. They're going to beat each other to shreds. And so a Joe Burrow injury stinks.

Watching him go down is terrible. But let's be happy. It's still July. The regular season starts for the Bengals on the 10th. And for Joe Burrow, I wouldn't be surprised if they still paid him, paid him more than Herbert, $53, $54 million. Mike Brown is getting ready to pay this dude. I wouldn't worry about Joe Burrow on the field or off of it. This guy is set and saw the Bengals with one of the best quarterbacks in the game.

God bless him. Not ripping that ACL and MCL to shreds again. Only a calf strain for Joe Burrow.

It's the JR Sport Reef Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Someone wasn't so lucky today. There's another NFL player, another NFL star, someone who is digging himself or not digging himself, but someone who is carving himself a future in the Hall of Fame.

He actually needs surgery. I'm going to tell you who it is on the other side of the break. We're going to get into Saquon Barkley who showed up to work. We're going to talk about another NFL running back looking for work. Sean Payton. I don't know what the New York Jets did to him, but he doesn't have kind words for them. We're going to get into Otani who had an amazing day.

We're going to talk about the Colorado Buffaloes who are moving conferences in college athletics. LeBron's son is healthy. All the best to him. We got a lot to do.

I'm just getting started, just getting warmed up. It's the JR Sport Reef Show, CBS Sports Radio. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Joe Burrow goes down, untouched today in practice. Thank God he didn't tear a ligament in his knee.

As of right now, it is only a right calf strain. I told you that this is good news for the Cincinnati Bengals, that it is July. The season doesn't get started until September 10th and this is great news for everyone involved. This is great news for the NFL. No, Joe Burrow is bad.

It's just bad for the entire league. He is a star. He is a superstar. He's going to two consecutive AFC Championship games. He just went to the Super Bowl two seasons ago in his first playoff appearance.

He's a star. People want to see Joe Burrow play and the AFC North is all stacked up and I think that until the Bengals are knocked off, even with the Ravens having a little bit more success over the past several seasons. Hey, let's call it the Bengals, man. I don't think there's no sneaking up on anybody.

I don't think there's no surprising folks. Hey, somebody tell the Ravens they got to move them the hell up on out the way. The Steelers, you would think that they're going to have to move them the hell up on out the way. The Steelers, you would think that they would continue to improve with Pickett.

Deshaun Watson, you would think the Browns would continue to get better with Watson at the helm for his second full season. What are your thoughts on the AFC North? 8-5-5, 2-1-2 for CBS. That's 8-5-5, 2-1-2 for CBS.

Now having said that, let me digress for a moment. Not everybody is so lucky like Joe Burrow. There is another superstar player, not a quarterback, but Jalen Ramsey, who was recently acquired this offseason, this past offseason by the Dolphins. He went down during practice as well. He hurt his left knee trying to defend Tyreek Hill, ended up being carded to the locker room. There's an MRI that was had and Jalen Ramsey we found out. He has a meniscus injury. He is going to miss the start of the regular season. He might be sidelined until December, and so not everybody is so lucky. Jalen Ramsey goes down with a knee injury and he just got there.

He also decided to share this on Twitter. Jalen Ramsey says, I'll be back on that field stronger than ever in due time. This soul miner, soul miner for God's child. I trust him fully and know that he got me. I'm forever grateful to worship his name. I know my brothers are going to hold it down until I'm back though. Appreciate the love and support time to get right.

That's all good and well. Dolphins are going to miss him. I mean, you can look at Xavian and everybody else on the defensive backs. He was supposed to be that dude, supposed to be that leader, and this is a blow for the Dolphins. 855-2124 CBS. Sam is calling from Baltimore. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Sam? Hey, how's it going? What's up, JR? How you doing tonight, man? Excellent. Go ahead.

Hey, man, so I was just curious. I mean, a lot of people, I think, talk about the AFC North and how tough of a division it is, but do you think, I mean, just from the scrappiness of them, that they might be one of the, if not, I mean, maybe the most stacked divisions in football? Yeah, absolutely.

I think that goes without saying. I think between the AFC North and then you historically look at the NFC East, those are the two dogfight divisions, I'd say, over the past bunch of years. Sure, we can look at the AFC North and we can look at the AFC East.

They're probably going to be a little bit more competitive now. The New York Jets having Rogers. The Patriots are down to earth without Tom Brady to just light people up, but the AFC North is, it's a dogfight. You can't look at any of those teams and say that they're crap. I mean, the Cleveland Browns last year with Deshaun Watson joining them, not at the beginning of the season, but having to buy time until he goes out there, the Browns won seven games and it's going to be a close call. It's going to be even. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals won or the Browns won.

I think Pittsburgh and Cleveland are going to have to battle it out for three and four, but I think the Bengals or Baltimore are going to have to win, but Pittsburgh and Cleveland, they're going to get their pound of flesh, man. It was kind of a scary statement when you said that every team might get 9-10 wins because that's what we're looking at as a Ravens fan. So I appreciate it, JR. You have a good rest of your night, brother.

You as well, Sam. Thank you so much for calling from Baltimore. You know, the Ravens have reached the point right now and there's going to be even more scrutiny just thrown at Lamar Jackson. The conversation over the past several years with Lamar has been, is he going to get paid? Does he deserve to get paid? How much money is he going to get paid? Is he even a quarterback? Oh my God, he's a running back who just throws the football.

We know he's more than that. People want to act like he didn't go out there and win an MVP, but this is similar to Nikolai Jokic winning an MVP. It's like, okay, you won an MVP, now what? You going to win a championship?

Are you going to have the ultimate success? Jalen Hurts has gone to a Super Bowl before Lamar Jackson. The Eagles ran through everybody last year, so anyone who wants to even make the point of a guy who runs a team with a running quarterback, they're not going to win.

Come on, man. Jalen Hurts almost won a Super Bowl. And so Lamar Jackson, MVP or not, I don't care if the the Ravens win 10 games, 11 games, 9 games, 13 games, who cares? Go to the playoffs and go to an AFC championship game.

Go compete for a Super Bowl. We don't need this half stepping anymore. And now Lamar Jackson has, well, he got paid, first of all. Now he has weapons. Drafting Zay Flowers, bringing in Odell Beckham Jr. What's the excuse now?

You could arguably say, maybe, for all the times at all. Well, what if what if Lamar had Tyreek and what if what if Lamar, you know, had Kelsey? Well, he don't have either one of those dudes. Both of them guys are building cases for the Hall of Fame. Kelsey will go in if he quit tomorrow. Tyreek is building his way. Odell Hall of Fame? Probably not. Zay Flowers? OK, young rookie.

Not even a conversation. But man, he got some weapons. He still got Mark Andrews, the the human safety blanket. The Ravens should challenge the Bengals for tops in the AFC North. But between the two of them, somebody should win and somebody else should get a wild card. Now the Browns, how far that they want to push it, or the Steelers, how far they want to go, is up for debate. It's a two team race at the top.

Two teams. 855-2124 CBS, that's 855-2124 CBS. Dan, he's calling from Wisconsin. You're on the JR Sport Reshow. What's up, Dan?

Good evening, JR. So I just want to know what your opinion is. Aaron Rodgers said he's having a blast in New York. He redid his contract. Why wouldn't he do that in the Green Bay? Well, I think he got to the point of not trusting them, not having faith in them. I will never forget, and I'm sure you haven't forgotten Aaron Rodgers telling everyone how they drafted Jordan Love and he needed to have a shot at Tequila. I think the relationship was frayed.

And why am I going to give up money for an organization that I no longer trust? Are you married? Well, yeah, I'm caught between a rock and a hard spot. I'm a Rodgers man, but I mean, he spent all them years in Green Bay and now he's having a blast out in New York. Yeah, well, he was miserable. The regular season hasn't started yet. Yeah, I know. I know.

You know, we got to give him a break, Dan. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you upset at the Packers?

What's that? Are you upset at the Green Bay Packers, you mad? Yeah, very much so. Well, I mean, you can't have Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers forever. You got to have a- Yeah, I know.

Yeah. I'm so upset that you got two quarterbacks like that and only got two rings to show for it. You know, that's- Yeah, well, if you're the New York Jets, you know when they last- Yeah, I know. I knew you were going to say that, Dan. All right.

Everybody can't be so lucky to even have a decent quarterback. Come on. You're spoiled, Dan. Come on.

Get ready for 20 years of garbage. Yeah, thank you very much. You're welcome. Good night.

Thank you, Dan. I feel bad. He calls up to talk to me and I'm like, hey, man, just get ready for 20 years of trash. I'm a realist. I don't have to sit here and be an optimist. I'm just telling the truth. I don't know if the Packers are going to be 20 years of trash, but what are the odds that Jordan Love wakes up and he's, I don't know, three quarters of the quarterback that Brett Favre was or Aaron Rodgers?

Who's to say that he's even going to be a starter for three years or four years or five years? Packers hit the jackpot, man. Everybody can't be so lucky. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. We're going to get into Aaron Rodgers next hour because Sean Payton, who has nothing to do with the New York Jets, he had some commentary about the Jets. He had some commentary about their new offensive coordinator. You would think that somebody just peed in Sean Payton's coffee. He's just, just a miserable dude.

I'll explain next hour. But speaking of New York, there's another guy in New York who I don't know if he's thrilled, but he showed up to work. His name is Saquon Barkley. We're going to hear him from earlier today.

And then it appears that there's another running back who might be playing in New York. And I'll give you that guy's name when we get to on the other side of the break as well. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

Hey Jack, who's holding it down on the news? It is Marco Belletti, the one update anchor here who would probably be a nightclub bouncer if he wasn't doing updates. He certainly looks the part. Marco looks like a nice guy to me when I see him.

Yeah, he's a nice guy, but he definitely gives off that vibe a little bit. Marco, do you beat people up? No, I don't. When's the last time you beat somebody up?

Gotta be 30 years. Easy. How much would it cost, how much would it cost for me to pay you to beat somebody up? Uh, depends on the person, depends on the reason.

What if they're about 10 yards away from you? Uh, depends on the person, depends on the reason, I'm cheap. No, Marco's a gentle giant.

He just looks like he could be one of those types of guys. Okay, how much to beat up Jack? I'm cheap. Come on Marco, I thought we were friends. I'm gonna stay with that line, I'm cheap. There we go.

Hey, listen Marco, I got your cash app on the side. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Injuries are part of the game in the NFL.

It doesn't matter if it's the regular season training camp, post-season play, you out there on that grass, there's a chance that you're gonna go down and you don't need to be hit. And so as we started off the show, we talked about Joe Burrow. He escaped something major, going down with a calf strain. Meanwhile, down in Miami, Jalen Ramsey, who's trying to make his mark with the Miami Dolphins, he goes down with a meniscus injury, except for he is going to be out until maybe December. Is Jalen Ramsey going to be recovering from an injured meniscus? 855-2124 CBS, that's 855-2124 CBS at the top of the hour.

Oh man, this is going to be fun. Sean Payton talked to USA Today and he didn't just talk about his Denver Broncos. He talked about their prior coach.

I don't know why, maybe he feels that he could just talk about anybody. He killed Nathaniel Hackett and then there was a response from the New York Jets head coach, Rob Salah, where Nathaniel Hackett is currently employed. And so we'll get into that at the top of the hour.

855-2124 CBS, that's 855-2124 CBS. Speaking of New York, the New York Jets and Rob Salah, they're going to be meeting with Dalvin Cook. Let's remember this. Dalvin Cook is a free agent. He's still out there. He's no longer a member of the Minnesota Vikings. The New York Jets, they got Breece Hall coming back from a torn ACL. The New York Jets still ended up with the Offensive Rookie of the Year in Garrett Wilson, but Breece Hall was lighting the NFL up. He was on his way to NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year before he went down with the ACL. And so the New York Jets hoping that Breece Hall returns to form, hoping that Michael Carter kind of has a bounce back third season in the NFL out of North Carolina. But in the meanwhile, Dalvin Cook is a proven commodity. They're hoping that they still have something left, or he still has something left, despite his lack of yardage per carry. Still a four-time Pro Bowler, still had almost 1,200 yards, eight TDs last year. And Minnesota gave him the boot.

He's looking for a team. And Rob Salah was asked about Dalvin Cook in the meeting. And Robert Salah's like, listen, we will kick the tires on anybody worth a damn. We'll never say no to a great player if it's, if the opportunity presents itself in the right way. So excited about him and his visit. It's really just being able to get, have a conversation, get hands on him. I know he's got some things that medically that would have to check out and all that stuff. But again, excited about his, his visit and the chance to sit down and talk with him. Okay, that's nice.

Yeah, why not? They got, they got extra money now that Aaron Rodgers decided to leave $35 million on the table. New York Jets have $16 million in cap space. Just this off season, now that Aaron Rodgers restructured his deal and left some money.

Must be nice. Speaking of leaving money, Saquon Barkley spoke today. We'll, we'll share that with you momentarily. Let's go to the phone lines. 855-2124 CBS, Tim. He's calling from Maryland. You're on the JR sport re-show.

What's up, Tim? JR, long time, buddy. Oh, well, that's the last time I spoke to you. I don't know. Six months. Six months? Hey, are you the guy who tried to hook me up with your sister?

Yes. Okay, I remember you. How was your sister? Did she find a mate yet? Oh, she had a mate. Uh-oh.

Yeah, it was, I was just joking with you. Oh no, I thought... But I said if she wasn't married, I would... You didn't really want to connect me with your sister? I told you if she wasn't hooked up, I would hook you up.

Oh, wait a minute. She's already with somebody and you wanted to bring me into the scenario? No, no, I said if she wasn't hooked up, I would hook you up.

She's been married 20 years, man. You weren't the first in my bubble. I thought I had a chance. No, it's been so long, man. I didn't know Shep wasn't there anymore.

Anymore? Who said he's not here anymore? What the hell are you talking about? Oh, I don't know. See, I haven't been able to listen to you all for almost six months, dude.

I don't know. So I guess, well, tell him I said hello. I thought he didn't answer the phone, so I figured he went on. Yeah, well, Jack is here tonight unless you know something that I don't know. No, I don't. No, I'm just trying to catch up.

Yeah, no, no, no. Jack is here tonight, but Shep will be back. But thank you for your concern, Tim. What's going on?

All right. What I wanted to ask you about was I've been hearing rumors around about Chase Young might be going to the Ravens. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but... I haven't heard that. The last time I checked, he's still a member of the Washington commanders. Yeah, yeah, he is, but I don't know.

These news feeds I get, you know, I've been, you know, reading them and they've been saying that, but to be honest with you, I wouldn't, I don't know, I wouldn't care one way or the other. I'd love to keep him, but, you know, I don't think he's ever going to be right again, to be honest with you. Well, yeah, he's actually healthy right now, knock on wood.

I know we talked about these injuries to all these other players, but he's healthy. So let's see what he does for the commanders. What are you following? Are you reading like ball sack sports or something? Like, what are you looking at? No, I get, it's called newsfeed and it's... Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what that is.

Might as well be ball sack sports. Hey, Tim, stay away from me. I kind of figured, I don't know. It's okay. Yeah, it's, but yeah, anyway, but well, it's good talking to you again, man. It's been a while. I'll keep in touch now.

I'm back in the groove here. Yeah, please. You call me anytime, Tim. I'll never forget you and your married, your married sister. Okay. All right, buddy. Have a good night. You as well.

Thank you, Tim, for calling me from Maryland. Wanted me to connect with his married, married sister. Okay. He was trying to be a professional matchmaker for you there, JR. No, there's other words for that, but I can't say them, Jack.

Okay. 855-212-4CVS. It's 855-212-4CVS. Jerry, he's calling from Tucson, Arizona. You're on the JR sport re-show. What's up, Jerry? What's up, JR?

Thank you for having me again. Jerry down here in hot Tucson, Arizona. Well, what's the temperature in Tucson? What was it, 115 today? Well, let me tell you, it's 10 minutes to eight o'clock here and it's 103 right now at five. Oh, that's nice. What was the, what was the high for today?

I think it was 110 or 111. Oh man, that's light stuff. Come on.

That's light. Come on. But, but go ahead. What's up? No, this is a, this is a personal question I had towards you. I don't talk about my giants much, but this sparkly thing that's going on in your opinion because of the negotiations and the tags and everything that's been going on.

Do you think it's going to affect his role in the offense and the amount of touches they're going to give him next year? And I'm going to listen out there. Okay. No problem, Jerry. Thank you for calling from Tucson.

You'd be cool out there. The answer is hell no. Saquon Barkley is still probably the most important dude on their entire offense, not named Daniel Jones. And Daniel Jones is only the most important player on offense because he's going to touch the ball every single snap and make the decisions. Saquon, I said this last night, Saquon Barkley is the engine for the New York giants. And even though they just gave him, I want to call it an adjusted franchise tag. Why would they limit his touches? They going to run this dude as much as they can run them.

Let's keep this in mind. They didn't draft him in 2018. They didn't decide to pluck him at the top of the draft like Dave Gettleman did.

They could care less. Look, run him into the ground. Why not? But then when you think about the other options, the James Robinsons, the Matt Breeders, Saquon is better than all of them. Best offensive player on the team. They're going to play him. They're going to use him. They're going to use him up. And then they're going to give him the boot.

Sorry, it may come in a few years, but it's going to happen. And speaking of Saquon, he showed up to work. He spoke to the media and he was asked about that potential holdout that he kind of alluded to or threatened. But the fact of the matter is, he loves football too much. He loves his teammates too much. And Saquon realized, hey, if I sit down, really, what do I have to gain?

This is what Saquon Barkley had to say earlier today. Yeah, if he decided to sit out and sit down, this is a guy asking and looking for any type of long-term deal, he'd come across as a selfish jerk. We're going to pay this guy a long-term deal? He doesn't even want to show up to play when the contract doesn't go his way. Yeah, so good move by Saquon.

If he wanted to make the best move, he should have took the long-term deal that they offered him, but I think it's a little too late for that. Sorry. Let's see what the New York Giants do. They ain't winning no Super Bowl.

New York Giants may not even make the postseason. Sorry. It's the JR Sport Reshow on CBS Sports Radio 855-212-4CBS.

It's 855-212-4CBS. Yes, if Saquon decided to sit out, he'd look like a jerk. Perception would change in the public. People would question whether or not he was selfish or whether he was serving everybody crap for all of these years about being a team-first guy wanting to be a giant for life. He'd be a jerk. When we come back from break, we're going to talk about someone who might have made a jerk comment. It's Sean Payton. He's crapping on other coaches. He's crapping on his predecessor. We're going to talk about it on the other side here on CBS Sports Radio, the JR Sport Reshow.
