Depends on where you're at, what you're doing and where you live. Either way, you're here. Thank you so much. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to super producer and host Dave Sheppard. He's coming to you live from New York City. Been here for two hours.

We'll be hanging out with you for two more hours. Congratulations to the Florida Panthers. They're going to the Stanley Cup finals. They just swept the Carolina Hurricanes. It's their first playoff sweep in franchise history. And by the way, they scored the game winning goal with five seconds left in regulation. So maybe the Miami Heat can join them tomorrow on the other end of the spectrum for the Stanley Cup finals, at least. And the West tomorrow.

Why should I say Thursday? The Golden Knights of Las Vegas. They'll have an opportunity to dispatch of the Dallas Stars.

They currently lead that series three to nothing. If you've missed a minute of the show, you can always hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you once again to Boxing Hall of Famer Andre Ward for joining us last hour, talking about everything from Ja Morant, his association with Michael Jordan, his comments on Errol Spence and Terrence Crawford. He talked about retiring as it relates to LeBron James, the difficulty in and of retiring. He left the game where he left boxing and certainly not a game.

He left the sport 32 and 0, 33 years old at the top of the game. And so thank you so much, Andre Ward, for joining us. You know, we talked about Ja Morant before Andre joined. We talked about the Celtics and their chances at actually bouncing back in this series against the Miami Heat. We talked about Adrian Peterson, said, man, I'm not I'm not done yet.

I'm not retiring. I'm hoping that I get a call, even though he didn't play last year. And then DeAndre Hopkins, we discussed him as well. Just hoping that he gets traded from the Arizona Cardinals sooner than later. It's to the point now that DeAndre Hopkins is just sharing with everyone a list. I'd like to play with this QB and this QB and not Dak Prescott, but this one.

And so just just trade DeAndre Hopkins already. It's it's it's almost curtains for him. Out in Arizona, eight, five, five, two, one, two, four, CBS.

That's eight, five, five, two, one, two, four, CBS. You can also find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Coming off the conversation surrounding Ja Morant putting up those cryptic messages on Instagram. You know, saying bye to his mom, bye to his daughter, bye to his dad, just bye to everybody. They put out a wellness check.

The police knocked on his door, Ja Morant. And he's just like, I'm just taking a break, leaving social media. You have to give a cry for help. What are you saying?

Body a kit for. This is it's wild. He obviously needs help and I hope he gets it sooner than later. Who cares about basketball? I hope he gets what he needs so he can bounce back and just be a decent human being.

Forget ball. And so with tonight's top six list, adversity is a part of life. Nobody goes through life and everything is just just roses and walks through the park.

Life's not like that at all. You got to go through adversity. But how do you bounce back for it?

And sports is certainly a microcosm of life. You know, you have athletes, you got to work your way up. You have to compete. You're going to get punched down. How do you bounce back?

How do you max out everything that you have available in front of you? And so with tonight's top six list, there's a lot going on in the world of sports right now. There's a lot going on in the world of sports today. And so I wanted to share with you a top six list tonight, as I do every Wednesday.

Every Wednesday is a different topic, a different list. We're going to talk about athletes who have just bounced back. It's really that simple. Who's an athlete that's been knocked down or counted out? And they've been able to rise to the occasion and bounce back in their careers. And I ain't talking about legends, OK? This is not about Alex Smith and his leg. This is not about coming back from cancer.

No, we're talking about active athletes right now who said, I got another chance. I'm going to go out here and make the best of it. So you know what? Let's get into the list and let's start off by playing the fancy countdown song. Six, five, four, three, two, one. It's time to get J.R.'s latest top six list only on the J.R. sport brief. It's the J.R. sport brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio, as I do every single Wednesday night, I deliver to you a new top six list tonight will be no different. Everything going on in the world of sports. I wanted to highlight some positivity. We're going to take a look at some athletes, active athletes, who've had a chance to bounce back after being counted out after being knocked down, not giving a chance, not given an opportunity.

Maybe they got hurt. But here they are in a good position, better than where they were. And so let's start off. It's a countdown. Top six. We go backwards. So we start here. Number six at number six.

We're going straight to Miami, Florida. We're going to look at the superstar for the Miami Heat. The guy who at one point in his life was homeless, kicked out of his house, allowed to sleep on a friend's couch to get through school. A dude who was selected in the NBA 30th back in 2011. He wasn't supposed to be anything but a a defender, a slasher.

Damn it. He was supposed to be Trevor Ariza, but he might be building himself a potential Hall of Fame career. Maybe I'm talking about Jimmy Butler. And not only did he bounce back from having no place to live as a kid.

This man will not go away. Not considered a superstar by any stretch. Can he be an All-Star? Yes, he's made the All-Star team six times.

Not this season. And he's a game away from going right back to the NBA finals where he went in the bubble. I mean, last year he was a game away from the NBA finals. Jimmy Butler was a Chicago Bull.

He was just supposed to be a defense and energy guy. He's turned into one of the best players in the NBA, especially when the lights are the brightest in the postseason. He joined the Heat in 2019.

What a match made in heaven. Ultra competitive Pat Riley and Eric Spolstra. Championship experience bringing in someone who does not quit, who does not give a damn.

Doesn't care what you think and won't go away. Also with the Bulls name most improved back in 2015. Jimmy Butler.

Damn, his whole life feels like a bounce back. Which makes it real easy to understand when he was asked if the Miami Heat would be at this point in the playoffs. He wasn't shy and given an answer. It was, of course, you're damn right I did. Damn right I did. Damn right we did. And the best part about it is we still don't care what none of y'all think, honestly speaking. We don't care if you pick us to win. We never have.

We never will. We know the group of guys we have in this locker room. We know that Coach Spol puts so much confidence and belief in each and every one of us.

Coach Pat as well. And so our circle is small, but the circle got so much love for one another. We pump constant confidence into everybody. And we go out there and we hoop. We play basketball the right way, knowing that we always got a chance.

Man, his life is just amazing. If you're not familiar with Jimmy Butler and his background, go ahead and look it up. It's a whole bounce back. Jimmy Butler number six. What's the next one?

Number five. Oh, this is someone who's well, he seems to finally fully have bounced back from injury. He is only 25 years old and he's one of the best in his sport.

Flat and period. He just has a full chance to show it now because he tore his ACL back in 2021. He played baseball last year, but now he's back full time.

His name is Ronald Acuna Jr. Already a three time All-Star, already joining the 30-30 club in 2019. It's like Acuna is pushing for 40-40.

I mean, these numbers are ridiculous. Through 49 games through tonight, he already has 20 stolen bases. He only has 11 home runs, but he's the type of player who can go on a streak where you wake up and he has 20 next week. He has already scored 46 runs.

Let me say that again. In 49 games, he has 46 runs. It's very realistic that Ronald Acuna Jr. might be a 40-40 dude this year or next year. And if he's really feeling it before the wheels fall off, who's to say he doesn't go 50 for 50? At the same time, let me tell you this, equally as impressive as a leadoff hitter in just period, he gets on base 56 percent of the time.

That is freakish. Forget Judge and Otani. You've got to put Acuna in that conversation as well. One of the best players in the game, flat in period. Jason Stark, pretty much a historian of baseball, was on the MLB network talking about how good Acuna is. Ronald Acuna Jr. is a breathtaking talent. He's one of the most talented human beings we have ever seen play baseball.

I mean, don't you think? He hit a home run 470 feet the other day. You think Juan Pierre was doing that? He leads the league in stolen bases.

Look at this thing. He's the stolen base champ. I couldn't find any other stolen base champ in the statcast era who has hit a ball that far. So we got that part.

And then there's the other part. You just showed us numbers. He's slugging 600. He's on pace for 68 steals. You know who else in history has had that year?

Not Ricky. Ty Cobb. And that's it.

That is it. Ronald Acuna is a freak. I'm happy I'm here in Atlanta. I got to go see him sooner than later.

I got to get time to get up to Truis. I got him at number five. He tore his ACL.

Couldn't tell me is he's on his way to 70 damn steals. Top six active athletes who have bounced back. Acuna five. What's the next one?

Number four. What a bounce back this is. Imagine being a mad way to not even imagine. Imagine a Hall of Famer being traded given the boot. And now you take over for him and everybody's like, oh, they were rebuilding.

We're going into the toilet. We got this guy. And you are now named Comeback Player of the Year.

You now get a three year one hundred and five million dollar deal. You throw 30 touchdowns, you throw for forty two hundred. I'm talking about Geno Smith.

His career right now is a comeback. Geno Smith was destined to be a backup for the rest of his life. Drafted by the New York Jets in 2013. Thirteen.

Excuse me. He threw the ball for the Jets. And every time the ball left his hands, you assumed it was going to the other team. He was punched in the mouth by one of his own teammates for owing him money. He goes to the Giants. He relieves Eli Manning.

People hate his guts. The fact that he even was thrown out there in front of Eli. He goes to the Chargers backup. He's on the Seahawks backup. Russell Wilson gets traded in the Seahawks.

They go a surprising nine and eight. They started six and three with Geno. And he was rewarded with that one hundred and five million dollar deal. I mean, Geno Smith hasn't been good since West Virginia.

And it took him to the age of 32 to be a full time starter for now. And Geno Smith made it very clear after signing that contract extension, he wants to stay in Seattle and he wants to pay it back all the love that he's received. I want to finish my career in Seattle. I want to I want to be here. The town, the city, the team, Coach Carroll, the organization, they all embraced me. You know, I was a guy who probably could have been out of the league.

They embraced me. And I want to repay him for that. Can't blame him. We don't know how long he's going to stick around. But damn it, he had a great year. He got paid.

I don't know. I don't think anybody saw this coming besides maybe Geno and Pete Carroll. I know he doesn't miss Russell Wilson.

I can tell you that much. Who else is on the list? Top six active athletes who bounce back. What's next?

Number three. Oh, this is this is somebody else who suffered an ACL tear. This is actually his first season back because he tore his ACL in 2021. He missed all of last year. He came back this season. And now he's in the NBA finals. His name is Jamal Murray. Somebody asked last night, two nights ago. Am I surprised that at what Jamal Murray is doing?

I'm like, no. Are we forgetting? He was selected seventh in 2016 out of Kentucky. That Kentucky team had about a million NBA players on it. And he was out there dropping 20 like it was nothing before his ACL tear in the NBA. Jamal Murray, every now and then he'd say, oh, well, you know, here's 40 points.

Here's 50 points. And so he tears his ACL. He already was in the bubble, lighten it up. He comes back after the ACL tear and he just picks up where he left off. 20 points this season, six assists, four rebounds. He's going to start finally getting that recognition as an All-Star, at least for next year. And what he's done against the Los Angeles Lakers?

Abuse. He averaged 32 points, 52 percent from the field, 40 percent from three to go along with six rebounds. The Lakers were one of the best defensive teams in the entire postseason until they met Jokic and then Murray. And so knowing Murray came back from that torn ACL, he was asked the other night, game clincher on ESPN, man, how does it feel to be back? I'm just glad I put the work in during the rehab so I can reflect on that moment.

Not regret anything during the rehab. So come out here, be here with my guys. Everybody supported through the way.

So to make it this far with everybody just means a lot. Let's see if Jamal Murray can can bounce back and just be catapulted to a championship. The Denver Nuggets are there. They're just waiting on the heat.

Maybe they're waiting on the Celtics. What's the next number? Active athletes to bounce back. Number two.

I guess this has to be a bounce back, right? Selected number one overall. By the Los Angeles Rams. You go to the Super Bowl. Young player, you do lose, but then you get rewarded with a four year one hundred and thirty four million dollar extension. The head coach gets sick of you and your turnovers after the fact.

He can't stand you anymore. The Rams feel that they can go out and win a championship. They send you to the equivalent of NFL Siberia. The Rams win a championship without you. You languish in your first year in NFL Siberia by only winning three games. And then you bounce back and have one of the best offensive seasons of your career. I am talking about Jared Goff. Did he come back from an ACL tear? Hell, no. Did he fall off the face of the earth?

Hell, no. But Jared Goff was basically written off just just sent into the quarterback pasture to be put down playing for the Lions. In this past year, they were able to swing things around, starting one and six, ending nine and eight. Goff himself saying here's almost 30 touchdowns to only seven interceptions, proving that, yeah, I might have been worthy of being that number one overall pick.

I did go to a Super Bowl. And so now the Lions, the expectations are ridiculously high, at least to improve. And Jared Goff, he knows and he understands.

Listen to this. Yeah, I think the standards and expectations will continue to rise. And I think the urgency in the building will continue to rise.

And I think it has already. And, you know, I think all the way from the top down through us is, you know, ready to go and ready to get after this year is a lot of work to do and a lot of time till we can actually get on the field and put this stuff in action. But we're excited.

The Lions fans should be excited just as well. Jared Goff sent off to the quarterback pasture to be put down. And here he is. New life for now. It's the JR sport show on CBS Sports Radio sharing with you a top six list of active athletes who bounced back. That's five. We're going to take a break and we come back.

I'm going to share with you number one. Don't move. It's the JR sport show CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. JR, I'm a first time caller, longtime listener. I love your freaking show, man. I listen every night. I make my 14 year old listen to your show and he's an addict too. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm out. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. Yeah, listen, if you're going to be an addict for anything.

Yeah, go ahead. Knock yourself out. Be an addict. Be an addict for the show right here. It's good. Anyway, something else that I believe to be good. The list that I'm sharing with you right now.

Right before we went to break, I did what I do every Wednesday night into Thursday morning. I'm sharing with you a new top six list. Active athletes. Who bounced back from adversity, from injury, fill in the blank, whatever it is, I'm not talking about legends. I'm not talking about somebody from five years ago. I'm talking right the hell now.

And in a few seconds, I'm about to share with you who I have at number one on the list. Let me give you a quick recap. And if you missed, you know, the full descriptions and reasonings. Hit the Odyssey app and hit rewind. OK, don't don't don't bother me or complain.

Just just listen in. And number six, I gave you Jimmy Butler. This dude was homeless in high school. OK, here in the NBA, he's made himself into a superstar, especially in the postseason. And he might actually be back on his way to an NBA finals.

How about this? He's been real close the past three years. First year you actually went. And number five, I gave you Ronald Acuna Jr. His first complete season since tearing his ACL back in 2021. He is having a ridiculous season. Is he going to break the home run record like last year? American League National, not nationally, but is he going to break records this year? And maybe, maybe not.

Probably not. But the fact is, he might be facing or looking a 40 40 season in the face. He might be looking at a 50 50 season at some point over the next couple of years. And for a dude who blew out his ACL, he's on pace for like 70 stolen bases. And we know he has 40 plus home run power potential.

Ronald Acuna is one of the best in the game. It's good to see him all the way back this season following that ACL tear two years ago. And number four, I gave you Geno Smith.

Think self-explanatory. Punched in the face by one of his old teammates, left for dead as a starting quarterback. And now he's getting second life with Russell Wilson out the door. Geno getting rewarded with that contract.

And number three, I gave you Jamal Murray. You know, people talk about him like he just popped up out of nowhere. He's been scoring since he came out of Kentucky. He also tore his ACL. This is his first full season back.

And I don't think it's any coincidence that Nikolay Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are going to their first NBA Finals. And number two, speaking of a quarterback being left for dead when Jared Goff was shipped out to the Lions in exchange for Matthew Stafford and some picks. You might have assumed that Jared Goff was cooked, especially after he only won three games in his first season with the Lions. And now the expectations are for the Detroit Lions to actually win the division and then go to the postseason. What a hell of a turnaround they had last year to even go to nine games, nine wins. That offense expected to be even better.

So Jared Goff, no injuries, no problems, just sent to quarterback hell. And so now it's time to deliver to you the person who sits at the top of the list as the active athlete who bounced back. What number is it? Number one. His name.

Very, very simple. DeMar Hamlin. We know exactly what took place right after New Year's Monday Night Football.

Thinking that we're going to see a football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills. And he goes down for a tackle or he's defending a tackle and he gets it right in the chest. And we know what took place after that. He needed to be revived. The game was called off.

The schedule was shuttled. He was in and nine days out. No one knew his status. Was he going to come back? Was he going to be the same type of human?

Was he going to have the same physical and mental capabilities? Well, you must know that today he's participating in OTAs. He's participating in offseason activities for the Bills. He was playing last season because Micah Hyde was injured. They have so many injuries to their corners and he was having a damn good season.

And then literally and you can hear it from DeMar. He died. And in this case, he's grateful to be alive. And so if you want to talk about a bounce back, is there more of a bounce back than what took place with DeMar Hamlin?

This is what he had to say when he announced that he was going to play football again. Not to sound cliche, man, but the wild moment is every day, just being able to wake up and just. Take deep breaths in and live a peaceful life, to have a family, to. To have people around me that love me and that care about me and for those people to still have me in their lives, you know, they they almost lost me. Like I died on national TV in front of the whole world. You know what I mean?

So I see it from all perspectives and and, you know, for them to to. Still have me around and for me to still have them, you know, it's like it goes both ways. Yeah, there's no bigger bounce back than for someone to die in front of our eyes. And then now months later, this is May that everything that took place with DeMar Hamlin feels like a long time ago. This is like right after New Year's. It's May. This is five months. And here he is getting ready to play later on this year. This is just it's wild. Good on DeMar Hamlin.

There isn't really anybody else that I could put here at the top of the list. If you want to talk about an athlete bouncing back. It's the J.R. sport re-show on CBS Sports Radio.

The phone lines are open. That's eight five five two one two four CBS. That's eight five five two one two four CBS. Who are some other athletes who have bounced back? I'm not talking about history.

I'm strictly talking about right now. And number six, I gave you Jimmy Butler. Number five, I gave you Ronald Acuna. Number four, I gave you Geno Smith. And number three, I gave you Jamal Murray. And number two, I gave you Jared Goff.

And at number one. I gave you DeMar Hamlin. Call me up. It's the J.R. sport re-show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, J.R., thanks for having me on. I love your show. You're not the typical screaming head commentator. You're calm, cool, collected and entertaining at the same time.

It's a hard field to match. Thank you. Call in now at eight five five two one two four CBS. It's the J.R. sport brief show on CBS Sports Radio.

I do this every Wednesday. Every Wednesday night, it's a Thursday morning, a new top six list. And we took a look at some of the active athletes who are the top active athletes who've been able to bounce back from something.

Whatever the case might be. Adversity, injury, circumstance, whatever. At number six, I gave you Jimmy Butler. At number five, I gave you Ronald Acuna Junior. And before I gave you Geno Smith. And number three, I gave you Jamal Murray. And number two, I gave you Jared Goff. And at number one, I gave you Damar Hamlin. If you missed the full explanation, the full reasoning, don't assume anything.

Hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. You can understand it all. Eight five five two one two four CBS.

That's eight five five two one two four CBS. I think Damar Hamlin at number one is self explanatory. I think he's bounced back from something much deeper than most of us ever have. Let's go ahead and hit the phone lines. Let's start off with Taylor from Pittsburgh. You're on CBS Sports Radio, the J.R. sport brief show. What's up, Taylor? What up, J.R.? Hey, how about this one?

What about A.B. from the Steelers? He wants to come back and be an owner slash player for them. That's a decent comeback. Is it?

I mean, I think we all have wants. The last time I checked, Antonio Brown said he is going to suit up for a arena football league team or an arena football league team in Albany. So is that real? Probably crush it. Is that really a bounce back or is that a downgrade? It's a downgrade and a comeback. OK, well, thank you, Taylor.

Appreciate you. Brimming with optimism. Eight five five two one two four CBS. That's eight five five two one two four CBS. Mike is calling from Chicago. You're on the J.R. sport brief show. Hey, J.R., first time caller, longtime listener.

I appreciate your having me on. I know we focus a lot on major sports athletes, but NCAA track and field championships are starting today. And I just wanted to bring to your attention a guy who runs for the University of Georgia. His name is Elijah Godwin. In 2019, Elijah Godwin was impaled by a javelin. It went through his rib cage, went through his lung, came millimeters from his heart.

It came through the back of his back. That guy went on to race for the United States at the twenty twenty one Tokyo Olympics. He won a bronze medal for the U.S. in the four by four hundred next. He also raced for the United States last year in the track and field world championships. And I think he's about to win the NCAA championships in a week because he said one of the fastest times in the world, over 400 meters for this year, and he'll go on to represent the United States again in Budapest for track and field run in the 400. This guy's a beast. He was impaled by a javelin. And two years later, he was winning medals at the Tokyo Olympics.

No, absolutely. Well, Mike, I'm very familiar as the University of Georgia is right down the road for me. I certainly ain't keeping up with every race, but I remember hearing and talking about this man being impaled here in Atlanta.

I appreciate you sharing more of the detail here with us. I would have been sent my ass at home. So God bless him.

I think we all would have. So, you know, when when your folks get a chance to watch the NCAA track championships, if they decide to watch them, I think we ought to pull for Elijah Godwin. Well, Mike, tell us how to watch.

We don't know. I think the best way to watch it is probably going to be on the ESPN app. But for the actual championships, they're going to have them on. They're going to have them on the television.

For the regionals tonight, you had to have ESPN plus television. The television, Mike. Come on now. It's 2023. What does that mean?

Well, well, some of us are still connected, but I do a lot of streaming myself. No, but no, no, no, Mike. Mike, I get it. What does that mean? The television? What is it? You telling me ABC, NBC, the television?

What does that mean? Oh, no, I'm sorry. ESPN. ESPN.

I thought I thought I said that. Yeah, I apologize. OK. Oh, you know, it'll be on ESPN. OK. Well, thank you, Mike. Appreciate you. Take care. Thanks a lot, JR. Bye. Have a good night. You too.

You too. He's like, it's going to be on ESPN streaming into the app, and then you could watch it on the television. I'm like, what does that mean? There's so much.

I'm not going to. Well, I can't say there's so much crap on the TV. I open up Apple TV. I open up Roku and everything has a station now.

If we want to call it that, everything is digitally streaming. There's a whole there's a whole. What is this thing called with Steve Harvey? What's that thing called shop? What's the game show? Family Feud.

Oh, yeah. There's a whole you can watch Family Feud 24 seven if you'd like. I mean, there's a station channel for everything.

I don't know what this stuff is. Eight, five, five, two, one, two, four. CBS is eight, five, five, two, one, two, four. CBS. We're talking about athletes, active athletes. Who've bounced back tomorrow?

Hamlin number one, without a shadow of a doubt. Godfrey calling from Maryland. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show.

Hey, JR. Hey, first of all, I love your show. And I got two things. The first is on your act of athletes.

I love your first top six. But one thing I will say, number two and number four should be probably flip flop. Jared Goff flip flop with Geno Smith. My reasoning is because Geno Smith was a backup. Jared Goff was a starter and he even went to Seattle as a backup. He ended up a starter and he made out well. That's reasonable.

The only reason I have Jared Goff at number two is because he went to an NFL team that's barely an NFL team and now they are one. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I understand that point, too.

But now they are respectable. And actually, I don't mind watching Detroit now. Yeah, me too. Listen, most I'd watch the lines is Thanksgiving.

But now I got a reason to watch them all season long. Good on me. The second thing I want to talk to you about and I hear a lot of people giving you accolades and stuff.

And tonight, after listening at the interview with Andre Ward, I'm proud of you and Andre both. And that's going to be all I'm going to say. Oh, well, thank you. Appreciate you, Godfrey. Send money instead, OK?

Money? No, I'll give you accolades. Thank you, Godfrey. You have a good night, OK? You too.

Appreciate that. Hey, Damon, this caller from Houston. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Damon? Brother, how you doing? How's everything going? I'm very well.

What's on your mind? Fourth time caller. Long time listening.

Well, thanks. So one thing I want to talk about, I understand we went through as far as athletes that had bounced back. The interview with Andre Ward, I want all the listeners to understand the position that we get to where we progress and the game that we have to give to everyone that's coming behind us. Because I'm getting called Mr. Damon at work and it's scary. But at the same time, I understand that I have a responsibility to give the game in order for them to progress and do better than me. But that was just something that really just touched me, man. For real. Oh, well, thank you, Damon. I appreciate that.

Thank you, man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, I keep doing what you're doing, man.

Please. Because I'm up at night. OK, well, I'm here for right now. Damon, enjoy it. All right. OK. And Chef needs his own show, too. Bye. Well, thank you.

I don't disagree. I don't. Chef, when are you on air?

I'm on every Sunday, 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Eastern time. So who do we need to give the boot to so you're more consistent? I'm not going to take the bait on that, JR. I appreciate you, though, man.

OK. JR plus, man. I mean, I wouldn't want to leave you right now. No, you don't got to leave me right now. We could still give somebody else the boot. Name somebody. Man, I don't have your kind of clout here. I'm going to plead the fifth on that. Oh, OK.

I didn't say nothing about having clout. Just giving a boot. Let's put it this way. No one's bumping Jim Rome for me, that's for sure. Oh, you want me to give him the boot? Oh, no.

That's a living legend right there. OK. All right. I'll look into it just for you. Didn't say you asked. You know, I'm looking at I'm looking at Twitter right now at JR Sport Brief. See, I see that, man. You know, you got you know, you had someone. I'm sure you saw this because, you know, you get a lot of compliments and accolades.

There was somebody that was really critical of the Damar Hamlin choice and basically said, you can't put Hamlin there yet because he hasn't quite made that comeback. Yeah, that's that's that's what I was going to reach. Had a feeling.

Yeah. You stole you stole it from me. I was going to read it. I was setting you up.

You didn't set me up. You said the same thing. This man, this man, his name is Maytag Zach. I don't even know if he has a real face here. It says Hamlin hasn't played since his heart stopped. Let's pump the brakes until he gets back onto the field.

If he doesn't play again, he couldn't have bounced back and therefore shouldn't be on the list. Now, that's just a. It's just a miserable ass person. What are you supposed to say about that? Hey, you die and come back to life and you tell me whether or not you bounce back.

The fact that he is on an NFL field, the fact that he's able to play football is enough. Bounce back like get a life, get off of Twitter, find something useful to do. I'm on Twitter because it makes me money. What is it doing for you?

You loser. It's the J.R. sport brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Let's try to get another one in quickly before we hit the break. Sam is calling from San Diego. Quickly, Sam, quickly, quickly. Hey, J.R., real quick. I'm a new new listener.

I just want to say I love the show. And, you know, my bounce back isn't really much of a bounce back. But I would say Christian McCaffrey, you know, switching up teams and staying at that high level, you know, in San Francisco. I think that was a really good bounce back. Yeah, I mean, they gave him six. Well, they being the Carolina Panthers, they gave him 16 million dollars. All he did is get hurt.

And now he's back home and he's having a great chance to maybe go to a Super Bowl if his quarterbacks and actually stay healthy. We'll see what happens, Sam. Thank you, man. Yeah, thanks, J.R. No doubt. And thank you for being a new listener. Hey, shout outs to the old listeners. The new listeners.

Shout outs to people who've been following me since 2009. Hey, Shep, remember that guy called? He said, you don't even remember Adrian Peterson's career. Yeah, he had the mouth a little backwards there. And then he said you were born in the early 90s.

So I don't get that call for one second. I guess I started the J.R. Sport Brief Show when I was two years old. Two years old when Adrian Peterson, two years after he started his career, Adrian got into the NFL in 2007. And I, I started a popular video sports blog when I was two.

Great math. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

I don't see Adrian Peterson bouncing back. I'm going to get some more of your calls and then we'll hear from some of the quarterbacks. A lot of them spoke today. CBS Sports Radio.
