Now. It is. The JR Sport Reef Show. on the Infiniti Sports Network. Come to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.

I appreciate you for listening wherever you might be. Thank you so much to our producer. He's in New York City, Ryan Botcher. And right now in Tampa, Florida. Thursday Night Football Temp Bay Buccaneers They lead the Atlanta Falcons seven to nothing.

Tucker rushed in for a touchdown right before the close of the first quarter, and Tampa Bay leads once again 7-0 against these 4-9 Falcons. The Buccaneers, well, they're 7-6, currently tied with the Carolina Panthers for the lead, tied for the lead in the NFC South. We'll keep you up to date on this game as it continues on. And we got a lot more to get into here. Over the final hour of the show, we have had a busy, busy show.

Thank you to Russell Baxter, NFL writer and historian from Sports Illustrated. He came through and joined us to talk all things NFL. Just last hour, we had a great conversation with Kyle Glazer, MLB.com, Foul Territory Network, to talk about the MLB winter meetings, which have now concluded. And as well, thank you so much to Pete Futak from collegefootballnews.com as we discussed everything going on. In the world of college football, including some of the unfortunate news surrounding Sharon Moore, of which we all know.

And we got more to get into. Of course, at the end of the show, We'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. We got the NBA Cup getting ready to go down in Las Vegas on Saturday. We got the team set there. And we got Michael Jordan and NASCAR.

They've been in court for what, a week, a week and a half?

Something like that.

Well, They've settled. We'll give you an update on that.

So, a lot going on in the world. The sports, TJ Watt has a lung issue. What the hell happened there?

Well, we'll get into it all. If you want to be a part of the show, You can always listen on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. You got SiriusXM, it's channel 375. You got a smart speaker, be smart. Ask it to play.

the Infiniti Sports Network. And if you want a call. You can hit us too. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N is the number. That's eight eight eight seven ten Four I S N.

You You got internet? You got a connect, Sean. You can find me online. At JR Sport Brief. Here's the number again, 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN.

Now before we give you a recap on everything going on in the world of sports, let's first of all pick up the phone Moz. Let's talk to David. David is calling from L A You're on the Chair R Sport Brief Show. What's up, David? Hey, good evening, JR.

Great to talk to you. Thank you so much, as always, for taking my call. You know, you were talking about the Eagles going into the break beforehand. And, you know, yeah, Jalen Hurts had an awful game. And don't listen to all the voices calling for him to be benched.

Those people are just reactionary. You know, I'm hopefully, I like to think myself a little bit more sane. Obviously, I was not very happy with Monday night's performance because it was the worst he's ever played. But I just want to point out that what we saw Monday night was basically the culmination of all of the Eagles' issues rolled into one on offense that has not been addressed, has not been fixed. You know, last time I called in, I talked about how predictable play calling is from Kevin Petullo, who's inexperienced as a play caller.

He unfortunately hasn't been able to figure it out yet. The offensive line has been banged up all year. They have not played well. As a result, Saquon Barkley has not been able to find any holes running the ball. And what we saw Monday night.

what it led to was Jalen Hurts Basically Feeling like, from my opinion, from where I was watching the game, it looked like he was feeling like he needed to do more than he was capable of. In order to will the team to victory. And Jalen Hurts is not a guy who should be playing beyond what he is capable of.

Well, you mentioned a lot of it.

Well, you mentioned a lot of it.

It's the offensive line, the defensive line has changed as well. And Jalen Hurts is not someone who is going to run around and be. Patrick Mahomes. I don't want to call him a glorified game manager because he can certainly utilize his physical tools to go out there and get some points, whether he's on the tush-push using those legs that he has, or whether he's rushing or running for a first down. He is certainly a threat, but he's not someone who's just going to will you to a victory every single game.

And look, we know how difficult it can be to go out there and repeat. And thank you, David, for calling from LA. It's tough. Like, it's not guaranteed that anybody's going to repeat. I mean, what we've seen from the Kansas City Chiefs was amazing enough.

And, I mean, damn it, what we saw from the New England Patriots prior to that was ridiculous. And so the Eagles definitely look like a team on a downswing. And unless they're really going to get hot here at the end of the season, I'm not feeling all that optimistic about that. I mean, if there's one thing that I would say. is if the rams get into cold weather.

I would be concerned there, but right now it looks like the Rams are gonna end up with a better record. And so we just have to see how things play out. The Eagles no, not not looking good right now. They look good. I still had some faith a couple of weeks ago.

But every loss is just uh kinda jarring. Eight at eight seven ten for ISN. That's eight at eight seven ten for ISN. Hey, we got this Thursday night football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Falcons. It's all tied up now.

It is seven seven. The last drive, well, Kirk Cousins just connected with Kyle Pitts on an eight-yard touchdown pass, and it. It shouldn't be there.

Well, I guess it should. Because The Falcons were forced into a fourth down at their Tampa Bay's 13-yard line. They kicked the field goal, okay, it was seven to three. But then that fuel goal was overturned. Why?

It was nullified because of a penalty. You had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of their players, Called offsides On the fourth down.

Okay. The Falcons get another chance, another four downs, and you do have Kyle Pitts with the touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins. And so instead of being 7-3, this game is now tied. And so you just know, oh no. That uh, you know, their head coach Todd Bowles, not happy, not thrilled to basically give a touchdown.

To this team, after they held them to a field goal. Matter of fact, let's take a listen to Todd Bowles. Kirk Cousins, 37 years old. Own reliable at this point, maybe not so much reliable. But this is what Todd Bowles had to say about facing Kirk Cousins.

I don't consider him a backup quarterback. I consider him a starter, and he has for a long time. Knows where to go with the football, very accurate, knows the offense inside and out, so it's going to be a challenge for us, especially. everyone needing to be where they need to be.

So the challenge is just facing the entire team. Oh boy. Especially not, uh, hmm, not jumping off sides. Definitely. Not that, not that at all.

888710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.

Plenty of news throughout the course of the day. On the NFL side, we learned that TJ Watt was in the hospital overnight. After a mishap, he was in, let's put it this way: he was in treatment at the Steelers practice facility. And somehow, some way he ended up with a lung issue? What?

Huh? Huh? Listen to Mike Tomlin explain, not explain this, as the Steelers get ready to take on the Dolphins Monday night football. Listen to Mike Tomlin. He was experiencing some discomfort when he was at the facility yesterday.

And so we We took him to the docks and they're going through some procedures. He stayed overnight in the hospital. He has a lung situation that's being addressed. I think he has some testing and so forth ahead of him this afternoon. And that's all I know at this juncture.

He and I communicated last night. He was comfortable, and that's all I have really at this point. Can you tell us? His status for Monday night is really up in the air. I think what transpires this afternoon is going to provide more information for us.

I just don't have a lot as I stand here today. Can you tell us what prompted that discomfort? I don't know. No, I do not. There was a report that came out that said that it could have occurred during treatment.

Is there anything you can tell us along the way? I don't know specifically when it occurred. I know he was in the cafeteria at one point, and that's kind of when I got wind of it. Mike, to your knowledge, was he dealing with anything that was worthy of being on the injury report at any point? Not to my knowledge at all, particularly in-game or after-the-game, nothing.

Oh, okay.

So he's at the practice facility and then we did get a report, and if that's accurate, that he was getting treatment.

Okay, who gets treatment and then all of a sudden, boom, lung issue? How does that happen? The last time we heard about anything remotely close to this was when Tara Taylor, then of the Chargers, San Diego Chargers. This was a Sunday. He was getting ready to go play in the game earlier in the day.

And we pretty much learned that he was getting a needle, he was getting a shot. and the needle that they gave him, punctured his lung.

Okay. Yeah. Look, I'm not going to compare body types. TJ Watt is a gigantic human being, but them needles, they're some long-ass needles. And, you know, the details are not out.

We don't know what the hell is going on. Um That's not a fact. But I can only speculate. That's what makes the hell sense to me.

So we'll see what's going on with TJ Watt. We know that the Steelers are currently 7-6. They just beat the Ravens. They're trying to get to the postseason. And make people shut up about Mike Tomlin and his job status.

So we're still waiting on details there with TJ Watt. We learned through some of the reports that the NFL Players Association is investigating, which would lead me to believe that, yeah, there there was an issue here potentially with the needle.

Okay, anyway. When we get details, we'll certainly share it with you. May not be for a few days. And speaking of details, we all know about Sharon Moore, fired from Michigan State having an inappropriate relationship. with uh well his staffer.

That's a no-no. Not supposed to do that. And we also learned yesterday that he was arrested. as a result, and we didn't know any details on that. He is still in custody.

and there are scant details that are available, but of course TMZ Uh which is just captain everything. We will find out everything. Uh TMZ actually has dispatch audio. From the incident that got him arrested, Mr. There was a woman.

who says that he attacked her at her home on Wednesday, after stalking her for months. Wow.

Okay. Uh let's take a listen to this. Five six one five five three for domestic. The victor's called by the caller deluded the mail at the location and the house attacking her. State has been stalking her for months.

Yeah. So it's the ultimate crash out here for Sharon Moore. He is still in custody. Uh we still don't have details on what the heck is going on. It's just um It's it's not good.

Not good right now. And we have to see what takes place with Sharon Moore. ABC News, they they had a report on the investigation and and what's going on. Uh this is what ABC shared. And former Michigan football coach Sharon Moore is in police custody on assault allegations.

The school fired Moore over what it called an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Now police are investigating him for potential criminal charges. ESPN College Football Senior Writer Pete Thammel is here for more on that. Hi, Pete, so what's the latest on this investigation?

Well, just in the last 10 minutes, my colleague Dan Wetzel heard from the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office, and they said that no decision on whether to charge Sharon Moore is expected today. He remains in custody in a county jail in Ann Arbor, and the prosecutor's office said the matter involving Mr. Moore remains an active investigation. But again, no charging decisions or arraignment are expected today as local prosecutors sort out things with Moore's case. Yeah.

Well, we we have to see what uh It takes place and right now in Michigan they are thinking about replacements or his replacement On a full-time basis.

Okay, we know that the Michigan Wolverines are not in the college football playoff, they are on their way. to the uh Is it the cheese it yeah, it's the cheese-it bowl, damn it. Yeah, Botch, I'm not going to be there this year, man. I think we talked about this on Monday. I won't be there.

Maybe not. You should be there. I don't know. You could coach. You could coach.

You could try to get the inside scoop of what Michigan's thinking. Yeah. I I'd like to be at the not really. Who am I fooling? I mean, it was nice when I was there, but I like Arch Manning.

You know Archman is gonna whoop that ass, you know that, right?

Well, yeah, now I think half the players in Michigan aren't going to play because there's nothing really to play for. We have no coach. Yeah, he's gonna light them up. We're we're gonna see Arch Manning and Sexes beat him up, And then we're going to see what happens with Michigan, which is an ass whooping so. Ugh, not good, not good at all.

And speaking of bad behavior, the NFL actually shared this as well. We have a minority owner with the Texans. Harvey your lawyer. He has been s you probably don't know him, why would you? Minority owner suspended indefinitely.

Fined by the NFL for violating their personal uh conduct policy. This is is an investigation that's been uh going on for years.

So Good. The Texans, this guy's been fined half a million dollars. Apparently, he was charged with first-degree rape, five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, uh just it's a lot. Seven accounts of sexual assault. about a party that he had in his house in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2022.

So the NFL has taken the approach of uh yeah, no, sir. We ain't doing this. And so, uh yeah, the Texans Yeah, he's been fined half a million dollars, and he's been suspended indefinitely. Man, these are the horror stories. I bet you you don't want to hear.

They happen just all over the place to people who aren't famous and uh It's just just bad all over the case, okay, so uh Wow, yucky. Anyway, 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.

I don't want to get on a. a soap box about uh, you know, sexual assault and it's just uh It's a bigger issue, of course, I think we all know than sports, but These athletes and coaches, they're the ones who are public figures and they're the ones at the forefront. But what a horrific thing for anyone who's had to deal with it.

So, the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infiniti Sports Network, 888-710-457. 4ISN, as it stands right now, Thursday Night Football. Here we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Falcons. They are still tied. at seven apiece.

Do it the right way with Indeed. I'm caught up in the game. My attention is on every play and every whistle. But what I'm missing is a signal coming from my kidneys. That signal isn't like a ref's whistle.

It's more of a silent SOS which could be warning me of an increased risk for events like heart attack or stroke. And a way I can catch that signal? A simple urine test called UACR. If you have type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure, talk to your doctor about the UACR test. Detect the SOS.

Thursday night football between the Falcons. and The Buccaneers. This is a I don't want to say a meaningless game for the Falcons. We know that they are eliminated from postseason contention.

Meanwhile, we got these Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they're tied at seven and six, alongside the Carolina Panthers, who they will face twice. Before the season is up, I will to determine who will ultimately win the NFC South.

So uh we'll keep you up to date on this game as it continues on. Uh meanwhile, we know while the NFL is marching towards the the postseason, the NBA over the past several years they've tried to Get a little bit of spotlight and try to be relevant while the NFL is going on by launching the NBA Cup. And here we are, and I think the third iteration of the NBA Cup. Moving towards another finale, and that'll take place on Monday night. But as it stands right now, we got the finals, the last four teams that will determine who advances.

to the championship game. We got the Knicks and the Magic. Going to Vegas. And then we got the Spurs and the Thunder all going to Vegas for a chance to walk away with the NBA Cup. A couple of things.

Botcher, I can't believe. How fast this thing got here? Maybe I have not given a damn, which is accurate. It's wholly factual. I know the answer.

I have not given a damn. But I feel like we've blinked and boom, we're already at the finals, basically. Basically, it's just at the same time Does anyone really know that it's is it Mondays and Fridays, I think, or every Friday was a game and only at four?

So There's only been a month or two of the season. It's just I think the issue is. Like they make this big thing where they go to Vegas But every other team just kind of stops. Like the Nets last played, I think last Friday or last Saturday, they're not going to play till tomorrow.

So th th th they just didn't know how to fill the gap. of where the tournament starts. and what the other teams are doing.

So it's just that doesn't help. I know over the course of time there have been plenty of discussions about whether or not they want to stretch this out. And do they want they they do want to add some emphasis as to the importance of you know, the the season has started. Instead of historically Christmas being the unofficial launch of the NBA season, They said, how can we add some juice and get some teams playing, give them a financial incentive? Um and and this is what we got.

And so, yeah, a lot of the schedule is kind of uh Empty on the lead up because they're filling in games as they go along, as it relates. to the cup. And so this championship is actually going to take place on Tuesday.

So we got the Knicks and the Magic on Saturday. The Knicks and the Magic had that little beef and tiff on Sunday, unrelated as Desmond Bain decided to launch a ball at OG Ananobi. And then we have the Spurs taking on the Thunder. And the Thunder have one of the best starts in NBA history so far with a record of 24-1.

So we got some interesting points here. We don't have Victor Wembanyama available in this game. I know he's been practicing. I don't know. Are they just going to spring him out there in a.

You know, NBA Cup game, I I don't know. And the Knicks and Magic have certainly, that should be a good game as they've started to create a little bit of a rivalry, a little bit. of a beef The Knicks on their way to Las Vegas.

Something that matters. An NBA Cup before a championship for the Knicks, maybe. Who knows? Jalen Brunson says. I I don't care.

I don't gamble, I don't care about no damn Vegas. What's your choice, blackjack, poker or roulette? What's your game of choice? I don't gamble. It's probably a good thing I don't gamble, right?

I probably shouldn't say anything about gambling. Sport benefits. Ford benz. Yeah, you don't need no Janta Porter situations. Jalen Brunson, not.

Ah GAMBLER Not at all. I told you about Desmond Bain throwing that damn ball at O. G. Ananobi. The NBA fined him thirty five thousand dollars.

You wonder if he's going to be shooting threes at OG on Saturday or is he going to be uh talking trash? Uh this is what Desmond Bain had to say about trying to get some of the uh the money back if they win the tournament. Oh, it's huge, man. I mean, I just lost 35,000, so I gotta go get it back somehow. You know what I'm saying?

I'm excited. Great opportunity for us to play some meaningful full basketball early in the season.

So I know the group's excited. Yeah, the group is excited. Listen, as it stands right now, the winning team, and this is each player. The winning players each get $530,000. And so, not a bad come-up.

You throw the ball at OG Ananobi, you lose 35,000. But if the Orlando Magic actually end up winning, You know, this championship, he can make 530.

So he can make half a million dollars by showing up. But just by playing in the semifinals, he can. He's already made some money here. $106,000 for reaching the semifinals.

So, yeah, he's already made some money. Not a loss there. Every team that's going to play, every player that's going to play on Saturday is going to make an additional $106,000.

So the NBA has tried to hit the fast-forward button on this. We'll see what happens with these Spurs. They haven't really missed a beat. With Victor Wembanyama out, Uh and they just beat the the Los Angeles Lakers to get there. And LeBron, who had a big dunk on Luke Cornette last night, he was asked about losing in the cup and not going to the final.

And LeBron's like, I don't care. I don't care. I mean, cup, no cup. I love playing basketball so it doesn't Does it give me extra excitement to to playing or not playing, I think it's just great. Yeah.

Okay. I mean, it was a couple of years ago LeBron was like, Yeah, I want to win And now I guess he's he's old, he's like, Whatever. I mean, well, why don't you downplay it? I mean, you ain't winning just. Go out there and and downplay things.

Speaking of winning, Do the thunder do they know what losing is? Like uh this is this is so under the radar And it's probably gonna take until maybe February for them to lose maybe one more game before people start looking at the Thunder and going. What the hell? Are they doing? The Oklahoma City Thunder has started the year.

twenty four. and one. and their only loss was back early in November against the Portland Trailblazers, one twenty one to one nineteen. They lost two points to the Blazers. They'd lost...

One game. twenty four and one. On Wednesday they just beat the Phoenix Suns. one thirty eight to eighty nine. They're out here smoking.

Teams. The thunder are are just stacked, They got future draft picks, they have young players, they got dudes under contract, the Thunder are your favorites to just go out here. and and and repeat as champs this is nuts a twenty four one start. Jalen Williams, who's been hurt, he was hurt at the beginning of the season, still coming off of that wrist injury and wrist surgery. He says, tied a wing, am I bored?

Like, uh, hell no. Winning is never boring. Because there was a time where some players on our team were getting blown out. Not going to name names, but. We lost by seventy, so I think a lot of guys have that in the back of their mind.

Yeah, yeah, yeah you you think about the turn of the tide. You've gone through one stretch where you ain't nothing but a bunch of losers. And now y'all are one of the best teams ever. Like, you cannot. you can't make this up.

This is a team, as it stands right now. that hast tied the warriors, For the best start in NBA history twenty four in one. The Warriors that season They won seventy three games. This is what they did in twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. You want to tell me that as it stands right now, this this thunder team?

Can't knock off that record. I mean, we got an 82-game season. And unless somebody gets hurt. with the Oklahoma City Thunder. They could win 73 games.

They could exceed it. If they're going to keep this up, they are beating the living hell out of teams. There's no slowdown. The only thing that can stop them is injury. Bacher, could you see them breaking a record?

At this point, yes. I think their team is just so deep where, even like you said, Jalen Wins was hurt. They're still winning games by 30 points, even with one of their stars out. Their their bench player could start on probably half the teams in the NBA. That's how good their team is.

Yeah, well, the only thing is injury. Like, Shea Gilgas would have to go down. We know Chet Holmgram, he he's he's one sprained ankle away from, you know, just being gone for the rest of the season. Like, injury is the only thing that can can stop them. Just every team, just with their depth and and the youth, and you just plug dudes in and they just They're running everybody out of the building.

It's nuts because you don't think about the Oklahoma City Thunder and go. Oh, that's a future Hall of Famer. That's a future Hall of Famer. The only dude you look at is Shea Gilgas Alexander. And the only reason that it's there right now is because of all the things that he won last year, which was everything.

Finals MVP, MVP. He won everything there is to win last year. And he's made himself into a Hall of Fame player. But it's not like this team is full of dudes where you just go, oh man, I've been watching him for years, he's the best. They're just an amazing Team.

It's crazy. But Letty, could you see them breaking the Warriors 73 record? You know, I can because I think there's a few things. Not only the talent, and obviously, you guys are talking about that, the depth, obviously, injury aside, they have two things that are going for them because a lot of times you almost stop yourself because you just don't feel like doing it. You're not going to go all out every game, but there's two things that they have.

Used And they still have the chip on their shoulder that people don't truly respect. You just mentioned you don't really think of them as this guy as this. No one really truly respects them for what they are. They know they're defending champs, they know they're good, but you don't think of them like you did when the Warriors were in their dynasty. You don't think of them like you did when LeBron was putting together.

They're just still a bunch of guys.

So they have youth and that chip. I can see them wanting to do this. And if they go all out for all 82 and they put their mind to it, they really could. I mean, at the rate they're going, it's like, Oh, what are they gonna lose? Five games?

In six games? Are we going to have a team? That goes through the NBA. See, this sounds nuts when you actually verbalize it. Forget 73 wins.

Oh my God, you lost nine games. It's just could you imagine if they went 76 and six? What is that? It's crazy. And again, but You have to have the youth is part of it too because you have to have the want for this.

Because that's hard, man. That's hard on the body for 82 games. I mean, you could do all the, you know. All the stuff where you don't play back-to-backs, and we could do all that stuff. But there is still something to be said for it.

We know this. A lot of guys take a night off here or there just because they're beat up. Not because they don't play, but they just don't go 100% that night because their ankle's been busted for a couple of weeks and they're just slow. They have the youth and the want. They really could if they put their mind to it because they have the depth along with it.

And then they go into the playoffs, and just like the Warriors did. uh with that big giant target and we'll see if they could finish it off like the Warriors couldn't. Yeah. It's it's tough. I I think just naturally throughout the grind of an NBA season, You're going to have a few losses just because the flight was delayed.

Your legs are just. 82 games is a lot for basketball.

So to think that here we are, they've only lost one. If I just have to randomly say, Okay, well, um, they're automatically going to lose three or four more games.

Okay, then. Then how many games do they legitimately Have to lose. I don't know. They This could get crazy. Real crazy, real soon, uh, if they're healthy, but there there's there's a variety of factors.

But that go into it. Let's see if they can do it. I mean, are they going to beat the thunder on Saturday? Probably. And the Knicks and Magic to win the NBA Cup, are they going to win that?

Probably. They're they're kinda head and shoulders above every other team in the NBA. I don't Nobody certainly in the west, I don't think. And then you look at the east, you'd favor the thunder over everybody there as well.

So. their their scrimmage games are are probably as competitive, but uh We'll see what they can do. Maybe we have a historical season in front of us. Time will tell, guys. Who who knows?

Look, again, I'd never, if you would have told me this, that's not even what, 10 years ago? Was it 15? What year was it the Warriors did it? If you'd have told me then. That year, I was like, nobody's catching the bowls anyway.

Like, I just didn't buy it. I didn't buy it. And watching it, I was like, I'm stunned. I'm stunned. And then they didn't win the title.

So that I do throw that out there because that's something that's part of it. But I never thought we'd get anywhere close to 72. I didn't think we'd get close to 73. And part of it's not just because how good you have to be, but like I said, not only do you have to avoid injury, and that's that's at every team's, that's automatic, but you've got to actually want to go out there for 82 games and prove a point. There's not a lot of teams that want to do that.

And there's a lot of them that have the you to be able to, like, if you have Kevin Durant as your big-time guy right now, or LeBron as your big, even Luka Doncic, where you're like, look, there's certain nights where these guys are just not going to give you everything they got because they can't. They got to be able to save it for later. Is 73, 74 worth more than the ring? No.

So let's just slow down. The Thunder don't have to worry about that. At least not now. A couple years they will, but not now. Their bodies are still somewhat fresh and they have that want to prove because I think a lot of people look at them like I did 10 years ago with the Warriors and go, nah, that's a level you can't.

Can't reach. Really? Everybody seems to think there are a lot of things we can't do. The hell with all of you is you didn't even think we were going to win a title last year. And then you said it took us seven games against the Pacers.

Now we'll show you. And I think they have that. Yeah. It's it's not not looking good. Right now.

At all. They're not for the NBA. Put it that way. Let's see if history can be continued to be made. It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network.

High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and other risk factors can quietly stress the kidneys, leading to negative impacts on the heart. That's what you should ask your doctor about a simple urine test called UACR. Most missed the signal for hidden kidney disease and related heart risk.

You shouldn't. Visit detectthesos.com today to learn more. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. No.

Nobody ever. Nobody ever has, except for that guy. It is the Jarrett Sport Re Show on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is December 11th. The year is 2025.

But let's go back in time to a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back, back, back, back! Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore. But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history.

See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything, and it was primitive and lousy, and we liked it. The JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. December 11th, 1981, Muhammad Ali finally called it a wrap. It was his 61st and it was his last fight.

You may or may not remember. He lost to Trevor Burbeck in the Bahamas. Let's take a listen to the decision on his finale. Judge Clyde Gray votes 99-94. Judge J.

Edson votes 99-94. Unanimous decision for Trevor Burbeck. There's a unanimous Yeah, forget Trevor. We're talking about the greatest of all time, Muhammad Ali. December 11, 1985, speaking about one of the greats, the great one, Wayne Gretzky, he was still playing for the Oilers at this time.

He had seven assists, and the Oilers went out there and beat the Blackhawks 12-9.

Okay, the team tied an NHL record for the most total goals in a game. Wayne Gretzky, talking with Graham Bessinger, he once talked about how much he loves himself, some hockey. I truly enjoyed just skating by myself in the backyard for hours on hours. And I never looked at it like I was practicing or I was becoming a better player. I looked at it, that was my thrill, and that was my...

uh fun that I that I really truly I could just skate out there by myself for hours on hours, and for whatever reason, nobody could understand it. But that was my fun. And your dad had a unique way of making the hockey rink in the backyard. He always built one of the best outdoor rinks around. He always had the ice four and a half, five inches thick, and you know, he would begin by just watering it like everybody else.

But he would take a sprinkler head at nights and he'd have the sprinkler head going for a couple hours. And consequently, he always had the best ice around. Of course, Wayne Bretzky had the best dice, and now he's the greatest of all time. December 11th, 2006, Jerry Sloan. He became the fifth coach in NBA history.

To pass 1,000 games, okay, winning 1,000 games, the Utah Jazz went out there and beat the Dallas Mavericks 101 to 79. Jerry Sloan passed away in 2020, and we just had a lot of players talk about just Coach Sloan. Listen to this. He taught me a lot. If I'd just listened, I'd have been a hell of a lot better than I was.

He made players better. And I think the organization saw that, the whole league saw that. He's considered one of the best coaches ever. I love him to death. Yeah.

Yeah. He's a very important person in my life. What he taught was consistency, effort, and being competitive. We still miss him. I wish he was still coaching in this league.

You could always say that when you played for Jerry, you knew that you were going to be competing, you knew that you were going to be in the game, and you knew that you were going to have a chance to win. Yeah, that was from 2006.

Well, Jerry Sloan becoming the fifth guy to win 1,000 games. I told you he passed. five years ago. December 11th, 2009. Uh-oh, this is when Tiger Woods was in that trouble getting chased out of his house by his wife for the day after Thanksgiving.

But it took him until December 11th, 2009, to say, you know what? I need to leave golf because I got some trouble at home with my wife. I think that Tiger definitely needs to take a leave of absence. He needs to work on his family, work on getting his life together. And when you look at golf as a gentleman's sport, and for Tiger Woods to be doing what he's doing.

It's a huge impact on the game and on sports in general. I'm a fan of other golfers that are in the PGA Tour. I'm sure he's going to get back into it, and I'm not going to be as big of a fan as I was. I like watching him golf. He's great.

It just kind of, you know, changes my opinion about him.

Well, I mean, I'll continue to watch the PGA and I hope he comes back, you know, one day or whenever he feels like playing again. I hope he's back in the limelight. Yeah, that's a bunch of fans about Tiger Woods and his sleeping around. Golf is a gentleman sport. In Tiger Woods, what he was doing wasn't gentlemanly.

Have you seen and heard what some of these golfers do? Golf a gentleman's game? Forget it, whatever. December 11th, 2015. Hey, we talked about the.

The Oklahoma City Thunder. They've started the season 24 and 1. Matching what the Golden State Warriors did?

Well, on this day, December 11, 2015, the Warriors, it took them two overtimes, but they started the season perfect. They went out there and beat the Boston Celtics 124 to 119. They started their season 24-0.

Now, listen to this play by play from Tim Roy from Warriors Radio. Crowder to throw it in. Down the floor, high in the air. It's a jump ball. Hail Mary deflected away.

Iga Dawa saves it to a Z-League. Ball game's over. Curry spikes the ball at the buzzer, and the Golden State Warriors keep the street going. In double overtime, the Warriors went 124 to 119. The best start in NBA history continues.

The Warriors are 24-0. Warriors are 24 and damn it how about now we got the Oklahoma City Thunder here in the year 2025. They are 24-1. Let's see if they can go out there and beat their record. The Warriors record of 73 Wins.

And there you have it, folks. A few things that took place this day in sports history. Hey, something that took place yesterday into today. We learned that Michael Jordan has settled his lawsuit and case against NASCAR. Basically, NASCAR operates with a charter agreement amongst all of its racing teams.

You got to pay this much, you got to do this much. Michael Jordan says, uh-uh, this is not going to flow, this is not going to fly.

So he sued them. He sued NASCAR about their charter agreements and said, Hey, you know, I should be able to have a license without y'all just flipping up the rules. And so they came to an agreement. Michael Jordan said, if anybody could challenge NASCAR, it'd be somebody like me. This is what he had to say about settling his case.

Two competitors, obviously we're trying to get it as much done in in each other's favor, but I think, you know. collectively and I and I I don't think Jim was any opposite of me, it was The fans has always been the best solution to this whole process and to the sport itself. The only way that, and I've said this from day one, the only way this sport's going to grow is we have to find some synergy between the two entities. And I think we've gotten to that point. Unfortunately it took 16 months to get here, but I think you know level edge has got us to this point to where we can actually work together and grow the support.

I'm very proud about that and I think Jim. Jim feels extremely And who would have thought that Michael Jordan would be out here helping to push change? Uh for NASCAR. Who would have thought? But here we are.

Anyway. Thank you so much for hanging out with us.

So much that we've gone into, so much that we discussed. Thank you to Kyle Glazer for joining us to talk baseball from the Foul Territory Network. Thank you, oh, so much. As it stands right now, Thursday night football, the Falcons lead the Buccaneers. 14 to 13. Kyle Pitts. Typically missing in action has two touchdown passes from Kirk Cousins. Let's see if the Buccaneers can answer back as they are currently in a two-way, two-team tie with the Panthers in the NFC South.

We got a lot to discuss tomorrow. We'll see if there's an update on Sharon Moore and his situation. You can find me online. I exist everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Thank you to our producer, Ryan Botcher.

The JR Sport Brief show here is done on the Infinity Sports Network. Don't move, don't go anywhere. Bart Winkler coming up next. Listen up, football fans. You won't want to miss this.
