That means Monday through Friday. At 6 p.m. Eastern. Three Pacific. Of course, we got a lot to get into.
Well, NFL games on Thursday, NFL game on Friday, college football games on Saturday. We had NFL yesterday, we got NFL today, Monday night football. New York Giants and the Patriots. Patriots are probably gonna smoke them giants, right, uh-huh. Oh yeah, oh be it, by the way, I'm sure you heard.
Some guy named Lane Kiffin. Still wanted to play around with the old job. The old job said, No, man, just leave. And Lane Kiffin actually spoke introductory press conference at LSU about an hour ago.
Well, here's some of his thoughts. In a second, we got a lot to get into as well. Speaking of college football, how about this? Later on in the show, We'll be joined by our friend Bill Bender, covers all things college football for sporting news or the sporting news. By the way, Lane Kiffin, not the only college coach moving around.
We're going to talk some NFL. Brian Diardo is going to join us from CBS Sports, covers all things NFL. We'll get his thoughts as this week is coming to a close. He had ran all the way from Thursday. It'll end tonight, Monday Night Football, between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.
Okay? People are ticked off at Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh. What else is new? Aaron Rodgers is ticked off at his wide receivers, calling them out. What else is new?
We had a wide receiver. Old man wide receiver wants to go to a new team. Adam Thielen wants to move on. The Bears are number one in the NFC. What are we looking at?
What world is this? Of course, at the end of the show. We'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.
Now Bill Belichick's season is done. The Deion Sanders season is done. Yeah, these are the big name college coaches. And then we got, of course, Lane Kiffen. We'll talk about him in a second, as I mentioned.
Okay. A big thank you to our producer in New York City. Ryan Botcher? And thank you to you for listening. I don't care if you're in New York with Botcher, you could be.
here in Georgia with me You could be in Mississippi. You'll be in Louisiana. You could be in California. I don't know where you are. But thank you for being here.

Okay, you you you ate a lot, you feel good? Ate way too much, so I feel terrible.
So I guess in a good way, that's good. All right, that is a good thing.
Well, it's it's better than the opposite. We're happy for you. The gym is not too far away.
Someone who doesn't have to worry about eating good, he's going to get paid either way for a very long time. A guaranteed contract seven years, ninety-one million dollars. The drama is over.
Okay, Ole Miss beats Mississippi State. We go into Saturday, no decision. We go into Sunday, the decision is delayed. And this was inevitable. We've heard this for weeks, that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know and understand.
That Lane Kifflin, he was going to be gone. from Ole Miss. They were just ready to get through the regular season. And he was going to be gone. like the writing was definitely on the wall.
When we got to last week, almost a week and a half ago. And he never said anything about not leaving. Never. Everything was always about Oh, we're focused on uh the now and Yeah, well people are calling me names. He never said I'm not leaving.
He would just refute reports about his family and travels, and this is not true, and that's not true, but he never said. I'm Not Leaving. And then the fact that we get this this message That we're going to get an answer by the end of the week or after the final. A regular season game that lets you know that this was not going to be good, that he was out the door. The L S U.
And now he just had his introductory press conference. There's a lot of crap. over the weekend about what he was gonna do and where he was gonna go. And he made it very clear. I'm not disputing this fact because I love Baton Rouge.
I like Louisiana. I like LSU. Lane Kiffin says, this job that I have right now. Uh I know old Miss is nice. LSU's the best job in football.
that LSU is the best job in football. When you take the history, tradition, passion, and the great players in the state of Louisiana. No one can argue. That when you're in Tiger Stadium, On Saturday night, there is nothing like it. And this place is built For championships with championship expectations, we understand that.
But as an elite competitor, That's exactly what you want. And that's why we're here. No, that's why he's here. I like it as this press conference as well. And he literally had this press conference about an hour ago.
He said this was not about money. He said that this was just about going to a place where he could help them win. He said that this is the greatest place. He gave his mission statement. What he's trying to accomplish at LSU.
Take a listen. Our program. Here at LSU. will be designed top to bottom be the number one destination. for elite players in all of America.
That's why we're here. Our immediate priority is assembling the best staff in the country and securing top talent. The mission is simple. Bring the best players in the country to LSU. And it starts right here in the state of Louisiana.
Hmm. Yeah, Louisiana has uh great football players. Is nobody disputing that? We got National Signing Day. What is it, on Wednesday already?
People are mad at Lane Kiffin for leaving. I don't fault the guy for leaving. I'm not mad at him. I mean, the reality is, who the hell is gonna tell you Outside of maybe somebody in Mississippi. That that Ole Miss is a better job than LSU, and we know about the success that he had.
Between Ole Miss and him, I don't want to say his career was on life support, but coming over from Florida, not the Gators. Uh F A U He had a better chance to rehabilitate his image. And he did that. He had success. At Ole Miss.
Ole Miss had more success than they've seen in God knows how long. Guy had a fifty five and nineteen record. They're in the college football playoff, and this is the part that stinks to high hell, and it's not Lane Kiffen's fault. And we know he likes to burn bridges. It doesn't matter whether it's with the Raiders or Tennessee or we can go to USC.
The guy leaves. And things aren't always Swimming, okay, they're not in an upward direction, things are trending downward. When it's time for Lane Kiffin to depart. And here we have another instance of it. With old miss, I don't fault him for leaving the s the system of college football.
is stupid.
Okay, yeah, now they've eliminated one transfer window. You only have one now, and they got rid of the one in the spring. You got coaches who have buyouts. The whole idea. That you can have a coach of a team.
Say, oh, we're going to the playoffs, but not me. I'm leaving for greener pastures. That's ridiculous. That's stupid. That's the system.
That's the NCAA's fault, not Lane Kiffen. Regardless of how arrogant. Or how much of a jerk he might be. I know somebody called him a hoe last week. It doesn't matter what you call the guy.
The system. is Flawed. The system Is broke. It is so ridiculous. And this is the part.
That just makes Lane Kiffin just a pain in the backside. This is the part that makes Lane Kiffin unbearable. When he puts his message out yesterday Prior to a few clips you just heard from the press conference. He says a lot of prayer A lot of time spent with family. I made the difficult decision.
To go to LSU. I was hoping to complete a historic sixth season run with this year's team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs. Capitalizing on the team's incredible success and their commitment to finish strong. My request to do so. was denied by Keith Carter, Despite the team also Asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance.
Unfortunately, that means Friday's Egg Bowl was my last game coaching Rebels. Like, why is all that necessary? You gotta now throw dirt on the guy. On your way out the door, you're the one who's leaving. You're the one who's leaving.
You left. And now you want to stick around a little bit longer? And how you're putting putting the emotions of of the team. Despite the team also asking him to allow me to coach. Wh why you need backup?
Aren't you the head coach? You the boss? You decided to leave. Why am I going to let you stay? Come on now This is like Imagine your spouse Someone that you've been married to.
says, Hey, I'm leaving. I'm going across the street. And me and Sally are now going to get together. And I'm moving in with Sally next week. Oh yeah, but by the way, Do you mind if I just spend Christmas here with you before I go across the street?
The answer is going to be: hell no, get out of my house. You don't want to be with me, then just go across the street. You're just going to hang out a little bit longer so you can have two Christmases? You can't have your damn cake. And eat it too.
It doesn't work that way. And so I don't fault Lane Kiffen for finding a new job. Coaches have been doing this. Four. Ever.
Ever He didn't obviously want to say, hey, I'm leaving, because he was hoping, and why, I don't know. He was hoping that he could leave. and that they would still let him go out there. and coach ole Miss In the playoffs. That's backwards.
That is ass backwards. I don't know. Could you imagine? Let's throw it back. Just the first thing to pop into my head.
Could you imagine? Oh, this is maybe not the best case, but could you see? Bill Belichick with the Patriots, all the success that he's had. I don't know, after championship number five.
Okay, I don't know. The Rams say, hey, we're moving, and Bill Belichick, we're going to pay you a billion dollars to come coach us. Of course, Bill Belichick is going to say, Yeah, I want to leave. Could you imagine? If Bill Belichick could just leave the Patriots before the postseason and say, I'm going to go coach the Rams because they're eliminated and I want to get a head up on next year, so I'm just going to leave Tom Brady and the crew high and dry.
Let them figure it out. My son will coach the team. What are we doing here? But this is allowed in college? I can understand the frustration of the fans.
You know, I don't know about showing up at the airport. Yelling at the guy and cursing him and booing him as he's boarding a private jet. He's boarding a private jet to make 13 mil. and you're standing out at the airport booing the guy. I don't know, find uh something better to do.
I mean, even when he spoke yesterday at the airport, the private airport, the little tiny airport that was going to move him. for Mississippi to Baton Rouge. He was outside talking and and this is why he said he was leaving old miss. This is really hard. My heart was here.
But I just, you know, I talked to some mentors, Coach Carroll, Coach Saban, especially when Coach Carroll said, man, your dad would tell you to go, man, take the shot. You know, take the shot. You've accomplished a lot here. You know, I always felt, I always hated how we only gave one year to Tennessee and left. I really hated that feeling of that, you know, even though it was an exciting year, but you know, I think that we gave a lot.
To this program and to the city, and you know, some of the most historic wins in this stadium that we've ever had, and the best. best regular season in the history of the school.
So I feel proud of that part. But it just became time. You know, I talked to God and he told me it's time to take a new step. It's a new chapter. Oh, I don't know.
Did did he need to talk to God to figure that one out? I don't know. Does he do that before he goes online and and blames people and you know, put some of these messages out. He's a jerk. He's been a jerk.
All right, I'm not mad at him for movin' on. But sometimes it's it's just moving on with class. That's it. And say, I don't fault him for leaving. He went for a better job and a better opportunity.
I don't fault the man for that. But why you got to throw the athletic director under? Oh, I wanted to stay and coach them in the playoffs. Who wanted you? You said you're leavin' and leave.
Get out You can't be with somebody halfway. If you're out, you out, and if you're in, you in. Can't straddle the line here. Come on, man. We got two different coaches who think two different things here.
Well, one is a champion, the other one likes feet. He comes from a great football family himself, but he likes feet. His name is Rex Ryan. Yeah, he was on ESPN today. You know he likes to yell about Shador Sanders.
Well, today he wanted to yell about Lane Kiff. And listen to what he said. Yeah, I mean, big picture take is: look, I don't blame Lane Kippen for going after it. What? I mean, look at the landscape of college football, which I think is absolutely abysmal.
Not just the calendar, but the fact you let kids bail all the time free agents. You know what? I'm going to make more money, D-Wood, if I go to this place or whatever. What is the difference? And to people that are killing Lane Kippen.
He's the one that built that program. He's the one. His leadership, his talents as a football coach, and the guys he hired, and all that type of stuff. And so, look, yeah, I mean, does he look like a monster? It's easy for all of us to say, oh, hell no, he should have stayed, all that kind of stuff.
That's not the real world because everybody that's saying it would have chastened that job at LSU and the way more money and everything else that that job brings. Man Rex Ryan is ass backwards. Where's Rex Ryan been for, I don't know, the past thirty, forty years? It hasn't been until recently. that you have these young men playing ball.
Who've been able to leave?
Now they can go ahead and follow the coach out the door.
Now the players, I can't even. Fathom, can't even come out of my mouth properly to call them student athletes. We know that's a sham. In most cases, it is. Most of the guys are there just getting a check, trying to get a check, especially the bigger ones.
The coaches have been able to move around freely. For a very long time. The coaches have been able to follow the dollar signs.
Meanwhile, the players weren't able to.
So I don't know what rock Rex Ryan's been living under. I don't know, maybe he's been studying a blitz under his dad a bunch of years ago. But he he's given he's given false information here.
Okay, God bless Lane Kipper for moving on. doing what he wants to do. And now what everybody wants to do. Everybody wants to move on and do what makes them happy. Lane Kiffin is doin' that.
But he is also kicking dirt behind him. on the way out the door Bill Cower Yeah, remember him, Championship Steelers.
Well, I mean, damn it, there may be another Steelers coach pretty soon. We'll get to Mike Tomlin later. Bill Cowers said this guy, Lane Kiffin, he's all about himself. Why would an AD let a coach who made a decision that he wanted to go to LSU and not stay at Ole Miss coach my players and use my coaches and tell them for the next month why they should be joining him at LSU? Totally understand.
I would just say thank you Lane and goodbye. And that being said, if indeed he decides to take other coaches with him, I would just say any player that goes to play for Lane Kiffin, just understand one thing. It's not about the program, it's about Lane Kiffin. Because he don't care about the players that he just went through a season with, a special season, players he's had for four years with an opportunity to go to the playoffs. He's decided to take them and only leave them, which I get, okay, you want to do that, but now you're going to take offensive coaches with you and destroy the program.
And deplete the program. Deplete the program and the dreams of these young men who you said that you want to be there and you want to do it with. But if I can't do it, I'm not going to let you do it. Yeah. He left.
This man left his team in the playoffs and he said, I blame the NCAA. I was allowed to do it, so I'm leaving. Let's think about this for a second. Let's really think about this for a sec. Yeah.
And and this is this happens. They they know there was mutual interest, that the cat Just got out the bag. Elaine Kiffin could have communicated in a very stealth way. And L S you could have kept the job open. But the cat was out the bag.
He couldn't wait. He could not wait. Listen, there's enough back channels, there's enough agents in the world. Hey, it's keep the job open. Simple as that.
You don't got to fly his family out and all of this. Come on, old Mr. Season is going to be done in a few weeks anyway. Let's stop. We got Penn State that still doesn't have a coach, okay?
I'm not gonna beat up on Lane Kiffin. for taking another job. I'm not gonna beat up on Lane Kiffin. for advancing himself I'm not gonna fault Lane Kiffin. for operating in the structure of the rules and the rules are stupid.
But I will say he's still an arrogant jerk. Always looking to kick dirt on somebody on the way out the door. Just call a spade a spade next time, Lane. You don't have to tell everybody, oh, I wanted to stay, but I left and I prayed about it. Is that what happened all the time, Lane?
Must be real. If and when he has success at the LSU, which I believe will happen, Wait until the NFL comes knocking. And then we're going to get the stories about, oh, you know, I'm not interested. Oh, that's not true. And boom, next thing you know.
Oh, I don't know if he'll be there. Be back with the Raiders. But some other miserable sad sack team. I don't know, maybe Miami. We'll see.

You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast. On the Infinity Sports Network. Oh yeah, this is this is money, power, respect. Lane Kiffin has money, he has power.
I don't I don't know how much respect he has. In a lot of places. But anyway. And we just heard from Lane Kiffin on the other side of the break. I played some of his clips.
From his press conference that took place about an hour and 90 minutes ago, his introductory press conference. At LSU, and to the shock of no one, there's now a report about. You know, with Lane Kiffin's message, he's just like, oh, yeah, you know, the team wanted me to stay on, and the athletic director. didn't allow me to do that. And now we have a report out that also says, oh, there were plenty of players who confronted him about leaving and.
Potentially taking some of their position coaches with him to LSU. And of course, you know, there's never a. There's never a straight line here. It's a he says, a she says. And the truth lies not somewhere in the middle, but most cases in a little bit of common sense.
So we'll have more of a chat. about Lane Kiffen and his decision to leave. We'll have that conversation with Bill Bender later on in the show from the Sporting News as he comes through and joins us.
Somebody else decided to leave today. Certainly, not in the news all week or the past few weeks, like Len Kiffin, but for. Former Pro Bowl wide receiver Adam Thielen. He gone. He is no longer a member.
Of the Minnesota Vikings. I mean, the Vikings are so damn bad, he said, I need to get the heliporn out of here. He's 35 years old. He's going to retire at the end of the season. I mean, he wrote a whole nice message about returning to Minnesota.
Let's keep in mind, he was undrafted. Out of Minnesota State. He was with the Vikings for about a decade from 2013 to 2022. He spent the past couple of seasons with the Carolina Panthers with the emergence of. Of Justin Jefferson as number one and Addison number two, they didn't need Adam Thielen anymore.
And so he went to Carolina and it's just like, I don't need to be in Carolina.
Now the Carolina Panthers are good. And out of Vikings stink. I mean, they got shut out yesterday by the Seahawks. Twenty six to nothing. Justin Jefferson didn't even stop to talk to the media yesterday.
I mean, Brosmer is quarterback, filling in for J.J. McCarthy, who hasn't been good himself. He threw four interceptions. And so, meanwhile, Justin Jefferson has to look at his old teammate Sam Donald to just go, man, look at what we got. McCarthy looks like he sucks.
Brasma ain't ready to go out there and play another homegrown Minnesota product. And so Adam Thielen sends a message. And says, I don't want to be here. He says he asked for his release. He put a message.
on social media. This is tremendously difficult for me to write. Not how any of us imagined this would go. He talked about being a Minnesota native, putting on the Vikings uniform. He'll always be a Viking.
Since last spring, he knew this was going to be his final year. And he's Minnesota will always be our home. And with gratitude and love, I'll be back to retire. He's just like, listen. I got a couple games left.
I want to go somewhere. Where I could potentially win a championship. That's it. And if you think about his numbers so far this season, Eight receptions. is 69 yards in 11 games.
Where is he going? Is he going to contribute more than that on a championship contending team? I don't know what championship contending team is going to need him. He's going to pop up with the Buffalo Bills. You can make a difference there.
Now I'm not saying a man can't have a big catch, but You just like, I'm out. It's like I got a place somewhere else. And so today. is head coach, Kevin O'Connell. He was asked about Adam Thielen asking to get the boot, and this is what he said.
As you guys have seen, you know, we did we waived Adam Thielen. I know Quasi addressed the kind of the background on that and what was behind the move. You know, so I won't add much to that, but what I will say is just how much I appreciate Adam. What he means to me, the organization, me personally, I think Adam Thielen is a special person and a special player that has meant a lot to not only this organization but the career he's had. And I just wish him nothing but the best, you know, over these final few weeks of the year.
And it sounds like that, you know, might be the final few weeks of his career, and we wanted to make sure that. you know, after some dialogue and and things that we we accommodated that. Yeah, it's not like one of these jerk wide receivers complaining on the way out the door. This is a. is a native son.
For the Minnesota Vikings. This is a guy that they were able to sign undrafted. He came out of Minnesota. He's. He's Minnesota through and through.
He doesn't complain. He doesn't bother anybody. And he wants to leave, so they're going to let him leave.
Okay. It's not like Justin Jefferson says I I won out.
Well, by the way, Justin Jefferson, two catches yesterday. for four yards. How you gonna catch the ball when uh Your quarterback is throwing the ball. to the other team. And so we didn't hear from Justin Jefferson.
For the first time, he refused, declined to speak to the media. And so we know that Justin Jefferson is ticked off. Was Adam Thielen ticked off as well? Kevin O'Connell answers that question. You know, Adam's such a good guy.
He was, it was more so just the dialogue of we were trying to, you know, knowing we had pretty remarkable health in that receiver room this year. We're trying to find ways to get him tagged in there on some plays here and there. And just we haven't had a lot of plays as of late. That's been a big issue. You know, those 10 or 11 or so on average.
Less plays we're running this year as opposed to kind of our previous three years has been a Has been a major part of it. But he also, Adam also acknowledged: look, Speedy's playing great. And Jordan and Jets are Jordan and Jets.
So he kind of, there was zero, you know, Adam and I talk a lot, there was zero, you know, negativity to the conversations. It was more so. I'm the competitor in him and he wants to, you know, finish this thing off the right way and just figured between him and his representation that the you know, the conversations were had with Quasey and his staff and this was the outcome that kind of came out of it. Look, Minnesota Vikings are goin' nowhere. This is quite different, obviously, than what they did last year when they won, what, 14 games, and Sam Darnold kind of hit the detonator button at the end of the season, I think as we could all expect to happen as well with the Seahawks.
I'm not mad at Thielen for moving on, and the Minnesota Vikings are trash. And it looks like, and unless J.J. McCarthy can, A, stay healthy, and then continue to grow, it looks like a massive mistake. You know one of the bigger questions on J.J. McCarthy coming out of Michigan.
Was whether or not he would be able to operate in an offense where he was needed. To throw the football. We never saw it in college. We didn't need to. Harbaugh ran the ball at Michigan.
And man, when you got Addison on one side and Jefferson on the other, and then you got Jones, who's also a great third-down back. He's good coming out of the backfield, but also getting older, you got to throw the ball. And he hasn't been able to stay healthy. He hasn't been able to do it. And so, yeah, I don't need to be a mind reader to understand why Justin Jefferson is frustrated and also why Adam Thielen is like, you know what, I need to get the hell up on out of here.
Just gonna leave my family for a month. Finish up my NFL career. Good for him. It's crazy. Minnesota Vikings are are in the toilet right now.
And then we got in the same division. We got the Chicago Bears. Wait, not even the Chicago. Bachelor am I still on Turkey? Am I falling asleep?
The Bears are number one in the NFC now? Yeah, I can't believe it. Uh yeah, they don't give number one vibes. Wow. You know what?
Let's let's talk about the other NFC team. On the other side of the break. Let's look at the Bears. We saw what they did against the Eagles. on Black Friday.
I can't believe it. The Bears are number one in the NFC. The Broncos just won nine straight last night. Who expected these teams to be here? The Broncos are barely winning, and Caleb Williams is still not.
Lighting it up, but the Bears are number one. We'll get into that on the other side of the break. You're locked into the JR Sport Bree Show here with you, Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. And right now, it's time for a news flash. Here he is, Rich Ackerman.

Listen to and follow Crimes of available now wherever you get your podcasts. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity. sports Network 888-710-4ISN is the number.
That's 888-710. Four I S N. We talked about Lane Kiffin, gone from Ole Miss. We talked about Adam Thielen, gone from the Minnesota Vikings. We don't know where.
My Thielen is gonna end up, but he says he wants to compete for a championship as the final month of his NFL career. Is staring him right in the face.
So we'll see where Adam Thielen ends up. Minnesota Vikings stink this year. quite a reverse of fortunes from what they experienced last year, where they won fourteen games with Sam Darnold as quarterback. Sam Darnold, as we know, is now in Seattle. And so because the Vikings have fallen.
It's opened up an opportunity for another team to rise up. No, not the Falcons. The Falcons suck. How you lose to the Jets? I watched that game yesterday.
I like the Jets and the Falcons. They suck, okay?
Somebody had to win, or maybe they would have tied. But anyway, enough about them bums. The Bears. They're number one they are numero uno. In the NFC?
The Vikings take the fall, and the Bears, well, they climb the mountain.
Okay, the Bears, we saw what they did on Black Friday. They went out there and beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Good for them? Botching, Ben Johnson, did he have to rip his shirt off so early in the season? Was that too soon?
No? After a win over the Eagles, the former champions, I don't mind it.
Okay. And technically, now they're in first place, so I don't care.
Well, I mean, he ripped his shirt off, he got his guys all hyped up. The Bears have a record of nine and three. But then afterwards, Ben Johnson comes to reality because, of course, he's not going to show up to a press conference with his shirt off and spinning around and yelling and screaming. He came to the reality. He wanted his team to know and understand.
Hey, we ain't win nothing yet.
Okay, we're nine and three. We're number one in the NFC. I mean, damn it, we saw the Carolina Panthers go out there and beat the Los Angeles Rams yesterday. But Ben Johnson says, listen, people, we still have work to do. Like, we got to get better.
There's still work to do. These guys should feel pretty good about what they just did. You know, it's hard to go on the road and beat a good team like that. And yet, I think they still know. We we have got to get back to work next week.
Yeah, they got to get back to work. And next up is the Green Bay Packers. They'll take on the Packers.
Now. Here are a few reasons, and this is not to take away from a 9-3 team. This is just. The realities. Like Caleb Williams is is still inconsistent.
I mean, in that victory over Philadelphia, He threw for a hundred and fifty four yards and a touchdown. and good for him this year. He has a nice ratio here. 17 touchdowns to only five interceptions. He's not just going ahead and giving the ball away, but he's still missing on some passes, and he's just overall inconsistent.
Like they've been able to run the football and control the game that way. But they expect Caleb Williams to eventually take another step next year.
Well, he can start throwing that ball around. And help the offense out a little bit more. And then the defense, well, they can create turnovers, but I think the defense. Is also inconsistent.
So, Caleb Williams spoke to the media and he says, you know what? Let's try not to blow this out of proportion. Going into the game, you just you don't you don't put that type of energy, you don't put that type of pressure, you don't put that type of focus or comparisons or anything like that. You focus on being one and oh, you focus on winning the game and however it looks, however it feels, however you know, just just focus on coming out with the win. That's the most important thing.
Well, let's see if they can win a shootout with Green Bay. I think they're going to have to. If they're going to go out there and win the game, they're going to have to force turnovers, something that they've been good at. The turnovers certainly come in bunches. If I got to look at Jordan Love versus Caleb Williams, I'm going to look at Caleb and go.
Can you keep up with him? Can you throw that ball back and forth with him? We'll see. I I don't believe in the Bears. Man, if we had to look at the bears and the rams right now and the The playoffs, I I mean, I'm taking the Rams.
I don't care who they lost to. yesterday. I don't think the Bears are ready. Nice step for Ben Johnson. First year head coach turning things around.
Okay. I got to give them credit. They're going in a positive direction. But the Bears are not a team that I look at and go, oh my God, they can win a Super Bowl. Uh uh that ain't happening.
And speaking of another team. The Broncos won last night again. By the skin of the damn teeth They took on Washington with no Jaden Daniels. Marcus Mariota was out there. The Broncos are ten and two.
They've won non-straight games. And I'm supposed to trust Nixie through a touchdown and an interception. It doesn't appear that Sean Payton is ready to Go out there and let him loose. But this is a team you want to talk about the Bears. just uh you know giving false sense of hope.
Maybe the Broncos' defense can carry them the whole damn way. But the Broncos have won seven of their last nine games. by four points or less. They're not beating the living hell out of teams. They're on a nine-game winning streak, as I mentioned.
Every single one of those wins They were losing at some point in the game. and their last four wins. They've only won by a combined ten points. All right, the the And then they're going to win again. They got the Raiders up next.
Maybe they could beat the living hell out of the Raiders next week. But these Broncos, the defense can take them far, but I don't know if Bo Nick's. Uh can take them. This is what Bo Nicks had to say about playing in all these close games. You just gotta keep moving on and you gotta have a belief that you're just gonna find a way and uh you know Didn't look great there for a minute, but we just found a way to make the next best play and, you know, at the end of the day, score one more point than they did.
Yeah, that's what y'all have been doing for weeks now. And Sean Payton, always uh kind of grumpy, Captain Grumpy, he discussed this as well. He said, Listen, man. When the going got tough, we ended up getting what we needed, we won. They're tough out.
The quarterback was able to make some plays. You know, our third and long again became an issue. And then. They converted. Uh some fourth downs.
But we got the play when we needed it. Oh my goodness, we got the quarterback. That's how you know you don't like the guy. He's a pain in the ass. The quarterback.
When someone doesn't have a name. My wife, my husband, my son, the quarterback. Yeah, maybe not the same, but you get it. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. I don't care what the Broncos' record looks like, I don't care what the Bears' record looks like.
I'm I'm not favoring either one of 'em. If you told me today The Broncos were taking on the Chiefs in a play off game. And the Chiefs may not even make the playoffs. I I'm still taking the Chiefs. I still am.
Sorry. Eight eight seven ten four I S and Mike is here from Maryland. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, Mike? I'm just like you tonight, man.
I mean, what clear defining team is Super Bowl bound? None, which is a beautiful thing, right? None. This is the first time in my career. I'm a PSL holder at the Ravens Stadium.
That's not even a home field advantage. I was at that game. when we lost. And It's it's not even a homefield advantage out there anywhere. I mean, there's no clear prominent quarterback like New England.
They there on a on a technicality of a favorable schedule, injuries and multiple situations. But are there the team that we that the AFC have to go to for a Super Bowl? Yeah, no, I would still take the bills over them if they were taking on each other in the postseason. And the Bills was a bills was a sh it was kind of a shocker to me because of the way that the Pittsburgh facing. But this week is still.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Neither team is at the position of if one or the other wins. I I think Bengals might come up and take the division. You still think the Bengals could be alive here? Hey, let me tell you something.
Our conference normally have two or three teams going to playoffs on a yearly basis. This is the first time whoever win the division goes to the playoffs. It's like the AFC South. That's all I have to say. No, no.
Thank you, Mike, for calling from Marilyn. Yeah, listen, man.
Well, AFC South, who does anybody believe in occults? We got the Jaguars and occults in the same spot right now. Got these Colts on a two-game losing streak. The Jags on a. A three game winning streak and who believes in either one of these teams?
That's why I say I would not be surprised. If by the time and thank you again, Mike, for calling from Maryland. By the time we get to the postseason, it's going to be difficult for me. to look at any of these teams. that are on the come up.
And I'm talking about the Jags and the Colts and the Patriots, and that's just on the AFC side. You know, we just talked about, well, also the Broncos. And then when I go over to the NFC, I'm not believing in no damn Bears. Am I looking at the Buccaneers to turn things around? The Panthers?
What are we doing here? Ramps. Eagles That's what I'm looking for. I think one of those two teams is going to represent the NFC. And in the AFC, Come on, man Buffalo Bills, it's your time.
The the Chiefs are down for now. And I don't know. Maybe the Ravens will go to the wild card, and the Ravens will probably. I don't know, be eliminated. Wild card a division round.
Pick that. It's the same thing with the Steelers. And the way the Steelers are looking right now, Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Is Mike Tomlin done?
In Pittsburgh? Like if you were the the Pittsburgh Steelers The organization, if you were the Rooney family, Would you look at Mike Tomlin and go, come here, Mike. You know, we've had our time, we've had our success, but we've grown stale. It's time to move on. Is that a reality?
From Mike Tomlin. You know, Mike from Maryland just brought up the the Buffalo Bills and the Steelers and And guys kneeing each other allegedly in the stomach. Josh Allen is a dirty player and Cam Hayward says he's dirty. They're yelling for Mike Tomlin to get fired in the stadium and Aaron Rodgers, everybody's getting booed. Oh, it's bad in Pittsburgh.
Fans want change. Is it about to come, a matter of fact? We're going to take a break. When we come back, I told you we got more to get into. Let's talk about Mike Tomlin.
Do you think it's time for Mike Tomlin? and the Pittsburgh Steelers, It's a breakup. Is the relationship stale? We'll also have a conversation with Brian Diardo. covers all things NFL.
for CBS Sports. We'll talk Rogers. And Tomlin. and stealers. And just being stagnant.
Nobody wants to be in the same damn spot, moving nowhere. for a long time. We'll talk some Steelers on the other side of the break. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
