I mean, is Virginia tech I mean, are they gonna throw bags of money over at Student Athletes to to help turn things around. I just I'm I'm not confident. James Franklin will bring stability. He'll bring his name, said But is he going to just bring a championship? I don't know about that.

So much news. Did anybody, nobody got fired today? People just got hurt, right? Fired? No.
Just a lot of injuries. I would say a lot of returns from injuries. And then on top of that, I guess. More dysfunction. Dysfunction.

Mm-hmm. If you're Justin Fields, a matter of fact, here, let's take a listen. We saw what the New York Jets did or what they did not do against the Patriots on Thursday night football. And now it's official. I mean, uh Justin Fields after being destroyed by his own owner and His own coach kind of yo yoing him.
Justin Fields is gonna find the bench. This is the report from CBS Sports HQ. Uh We've got more breaking news in the NFL. Jets will be pivoting to Tarad Taylor as their new starting quarterback. That's been confirmed by CBS Sports.
He'll replace Justin Fields, who went 2-7 as the Jet Starter, seven touchdown passes in nine games for Fields. Taylors did start one game this season in which Fields was sidelined with a concussion, losing in week three to the Bucs. Good luck to Rod Taylor.
Okay, next up for the New York Jets. They got the Baltimore Ravens. I don't see that. Jets might as well go out there and just lose every single game. possible.
So Justin Fields is having a seat. But apparently Shador Sanders He's still gonna play. Dylan Gabriel will is still expected to be in concussion protocol. The Browns will take on the Raiders in their next game. Shador Sanders in his debut, having to play that second half yesterday against the Ravens, he did not look good.
4 of 16, passing, 47 yards, one interception, two sacks. It looked like he just got thrown to the Wolves. It was ugly. And Shador Sanders says his performance, yeah, it was ugly, not good. I don't think I play good.
Um, I don't think I play good at all. I think it's a lot of things, you know, we need to look at, you know, during the week and um go and just get comfortable even throwing routes, you know, with with with Jerry and throwing routes with all those guys. Man, we we see Max Crosby tonight. He already forced a fumble against Dak Prescott. Braiders weren't able to convert any real points off of it.
Uh What the heck is he going to do? To Shador Sanders. Laddle, if Shadora's gonna get the chance, he's gonna get the opportunity. If you listen to Kevin Stefansky, you can He wasn't all that uh, you know, enthusiastic. about Shador's performance.
Listen to this. You know, we'll look at it, but he's going to battle like he does.
So I'm sure there's things that we can clean up, but those are things we'll look at tomorrow. Oh yeah, things that we will look at tomorrow. Wow, okay. Shador's gonna play next week. We don't know if Aaron Rodgers is gonna play next week.
Next up for the Steelers They got the Bears. But we saw Aaron Rogers yesterday. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, he has a small fracture. in the wrist of his non-throwing hand. And so it's been reported that Aaron Rodgers is going to try to play.
For the Steelers and Bears game. He doesn't know if he's going to be able to grip the football. And then after the game, Mike Tomlin was asked about Aaron Rodgers' status. And of course, Mike Tomlin, he didn't have any answer. I was.
Did he disclose anything? He was excited about the win. I just talked to him. But that's all we talked about. We didn't talk about his injury.
We talked about the significance of the win. Oh, okay. But there's oh, so I I guess Aaron Rogers is fine. Mike Tomlins seems to be in a A better mood. Hmm.
Ian Rappaport had some uh more details on Aaron Rodgers' injury, more than Tomlins had. Aaron Rodgers, to my understanding, has told people close to him that he will be back very soon. He has told more people close to him that he does not want to miss a game. He is pushing to play in this game. I know it seems crazy because he broke a bone in his wrist, but it is a left wrist.
If he's able to grip, if he's able to receive the ball on the snap, it is actually possible that Rodgers could play this week. I had someone tell me that he was essentially 50-50 to play this week.
So it sounds bad, but Aaron Rodgers does want to play and is trying to see how he could do it for the Steelers. Yeah, that got he's going to be out there. I mean, he's old. He's like, if I can play, I might as well go out there and do it.
Somebody that we will not see.
Well, that's Jamar Chase. The Patriots are going to take on the Eagles, or excuse me. Patriots are going to take on the Bengals next. and what we saw yesterday wasn't just Aaron Rogers with the wrist injury. We saw Jamar Chase spit Or jail in Ramsey.
Yeah, wide receiver, safety cornerback, getting after it. an' we saw Jill and Ramsey kinda lose it. On Jamar Chase. And after the game, Well, Jamar Chase was asked about Whether or not he spit on Jalen Ramsey, and Jamar Chase denied it. Listen to this He was saying that you spit on him?
Did you spit on him? I ain't never t I never opened my mouth to that guy.
So what what do you think prompted the reaction from him? Um, well he don't like some of the s worries I told him. I inspire nobody.
Well, we saw a video, and the video said the complete opposite. And so apparently the NFL also saw the video. And um, well, they said, Hey, you're a liar and you did spit on the guy. And so the results, hey, listen to this from CBS Sports HQ. Breaking news, you spit on somebody, you get a game.
Okay, NFL suspending Jamar Chase one game. for spitting at Jalen Ramsey. After that scuffle in the second half of Sunday's Steelers win. After the game, Ramsey said, Chase spit on him. Chase denied that, but...
There's video. Yeah, you can't be out here spitting on people. And then his head coach tried to talk to the media and talk about what a great teammate he is. Like, huh? What?
What are we talking about? Listen to Zach Taylor.
Well, first of all, I've always been impressed with how Jamar has handled himself because he. is in a lot of these situations where he's got a target as a top player. Um He gets a lot of respect that way. And so guys try to do a lot of things to get his attention and get him off his game. And I've always thought it was unbelievable how he's handled himself in some really high pressure emotional decisions.
Obviously, what happened is crossing the line. We can't have that. And I know he'll own up to that. But beyond that, I've always sat up here and praised Jamar because he's He's one of the best leaders we've got. The way he goes about everything, he plays with a ton of emotion.
He plays with a ton of leadership. Our guys respond to that. And and I've always appreciated how he's handled himself. Is he one of the best leaders? I mean, is he one of the best leaders when he's over here spitting on the opposition?
I would tend to think. Not. And then when you have a team that's now three and seven, They have no Joe Burrow. Joe Burr wants to come back. Why?

Is he going to be gone for the rest of the season, Raheem? Tell me, is he out for the year? There's always concern. Anytime you put anybody on IR. with all our guys, there's always a concern about that, you know, hurting for the young man.
Especially how well he's playing at the beginning of that football game, you know. really finding his groove. I like this week of preparation. I like the way it went through everything. I like how he was prepared.
at a very high level. I like I took a lot of ownership on it y last week. Um and really Was ready to have a bounce back week. And it's just heartbreaking for him to go out and get hurt. And there's always a concern of any of those type of things are missing time.
Man, Falcons are three and seven. Rahee Morris may not be back next year. Terry Fontenelle may not be back. And then you got Michael Pennix Junior.
Well, Yeah. He's not he doesn't deliver the ball down the field consistently enough. The the the Falcons offense is just It's confusing. You have Bijan Robinson, you have Drake London, they have no other wide receivers behind them. You got a giant in Kyle Pitts who just, I don't know, does he like football?
Does he hate football? It is uh It's it's not good. here in Atlanta. It's not. And knowing the patience of Arthur Blank.
Fonteneau and Rocky Morris might be back next year, or just maybe Arthur Blank decides to just blow the entire thing up. And we're going to find out sooner. rather than later. Speaking of football, look at this. Of course, the Dallas Cowboys In the red zone.

Well, they move it to Brock Bauer. That's pretty much option one, two, three, and four. Yeah, and that that's bad. When your tight end is your, unless you're prime Kelsey. It's pretty bad when he has to get every single target.
Yeah. Well, you know what, I guess it's pretty good. We got CeeDee Lamb 55 yards in a touchdown. George Pickens has 54 yards, almost had a touchdown. Both of these guys were benched to start the game.
Like, we have no idea what the discipline was or is or why it took place in the Dallas Cowboys. They just scored another one. It looks like they're going to move this. to seventeen to six Uh we have no idea. And we've heard that Schottenheimer is going to speak after the game and tell everybody.
Why they were benched. Apparently, they've been late to meetings or haven't been able to show up. I don't know. Just. Typical Dallas Cowboys nonsense.

Unrelated to these two Kind of in the same mold and space, the same We learned earlier today that that Abdul Carter, from the New York Giants in his rookie season, He was benched at the early portion of yesterday's game because he. was showing up late to a meeting or a game.
And the report wasn't that he he showed up late to a a meeting. It was that he missed a meeting because he was 'sleep. At the team's practice facility. I'm like, what are we talking about here? And so yesterday the Green Bay Packers beat the Giants twenty seven to twenty.
Of course the game pretty much ended when Jameis Winston threw an interception. That's the most Jameis Winston thing ever. But then the news came out about Abdul Carter. And he was asked about being benched, and of course he was uh Very short about it. Listen.
That was the consequence, I live with it, keep playing. In consequence, live with it, keep playing.
Now, he didn't appreciate, of course, here we go. Dallas Cowboys have intercepted Geno Smith. What a surprise. Uh Well, w the news came out. that he was 'sleep, And Abdul Carter, he didn't appreciate that.
He actually said It was a lie. He said, It's not true. That's that's far be it. From the truth, listen to what Abdul Carter had to say. He pretty much said that this is uh a lie.
He says I was not sleep. I was actually doing recovery. He says nonetheless. That's on me. Oh, he's over here putting in his two cents.

Now his teammates, veterans, How do they feel about this? You over here missing practice time because you're During recovery or sleep, Brian Burns. He was asked about this. Do you see anything different from Abdul Carter? What did you tell him?
Uh nah. He was locked in. Um Is that what I expect them to be? As a leader on this team, did you talk to him at all? Yeah.
Do you share anything that kind of imparted on a wisdom on? Nothing really besides the, you know, regular, you know, stay in it. Um, you know, when you get your opportunity, you know, show out and um you know, just continue to study and be on your on your on your uh on your job. Don't just show up and do your job.
Well, let's listen to the new head coach, Mike Kafka. You know you want to make your imprint on the team when you show up for the first time. And so apparently, Abdul Carter, this has been a An issue of him missing particular things, and he was asked about benching him on the opening drive, and he didn't want to get into it too much. He played his butt off. He practiced his tail off, played his butt off.
I'm really happy about Abdul and excited to watch him continue to grow and continue to play a lot more as a pro. And was that back to the original question? The original question was are you trying to set an example there? Is that important to you to do that to the rest of the team? Whatever you What is it?
That's not acceptable. I love it, Duel, and what he brings to this team. the skill set he has. This guy loves ball. And I'm excited again to watch them attack this week of practice.
And continue to work and grow and be the great player that I think he is. What kind of adjustment? I love it. Nobody nobody could be honest. Botcha was so ba I get it, he just got the job.
Why couldn't he answer the question?
Well, what's the big deal about saying, yeah, we punished him, it's an internal matter, or we discussed it already, now we move on. What's the big deal? I don't know. I feel like he just wanted to say. That's the question.
It's over. It's done. That's the way you answer that. But He doesn't want to bring drama to it just in case things are misinterpreted.
So I guess if he just gives him praise and his flowers for trying and practicing hard, there'll be no issues inside the locker room because he's only got a couple more weeks to left. Yeah, but it's kind of crazy. You you don't want to bring attention to it. But now we got the player, he's online. He's kinda refuting the report from from the guy who said that he was sleeping, and I get it.
Like, it's one thing to go, oh, yeah, I was in recovery. You know, I was getting work done. That's why I missed practice or what have you. And he's like, I wasn't sleeping.
So you don't want to bring attention to it. I I I guess you he's well within his right to defend himself, but uh I don't know. These NFL coaches sometimes are trying to outsmart and outdo themselves. Just say what it is and keep it moving. I don't think they.
There could be no damage by him saying, listen, it was a problem, we discussed it, we moved on. Done, simple as that. Yeah, I get that, but Uh Like you said, coaches are weird, especially interim coaches. Maybe they're just not as experienced as taking the head coaches' questions, types of questions, so. Um Maybe in his mind he thought Trying to pwn this off is like, yeah, I'm proud of this development.
That's something because maybe he didn't want to trash on a player for a mistake that he should have never made. Yeah. Is are you really trashing on somebody by telling the truth? And by the way, the story would have been better if he, you know, really did fall asleep or he th you can't make this stuff up. Do you think this guy was sleeping?
Yeah, I don't think he was sleeping. I think he might have been Late to a meeting, one, and then two, if he was late and he went to recovery. If if you went to recovery, that there should be a source inside the building that can refute the sleeping claim.
So But nobody's gonna do that. You gotta leave it where it is at this point.
So. Yeah, we we got Dallas Cowboys who don't show up to work on time. We got a New York giant who had to tell everybody I wasn't asleep. You you can't make this stuff Uh You can't. You can't.
This has been this has to probably be the most eventful week in the NFL season so far. It mean you got your door standaised. And then Shador Sanders gets his house robbed. You have the Atlanta Falcons, or he got house was broken into. We don't know if anything was taken.

Like, all those things will happen on every level from when you're a little kid all the way through, and when you get older, and you really should know better, even then, stupid. Spitting on someone? Three touchdowns by Dak Prescott here. in the first half of the game. Wow And the Raiders are out here struggling. Geno Smith is already thrown an interception that pretty much helps set up one of the scores. It's just uh It's not good.
The Raiders are bad. By the time tonight is over, unless the Dallas Cowboys have one of these epic chokes.
Now the Raiders are looking at a record of two and eight. At the conclusion of this game.
So we'll see if the Raiders can show some life or if the Dallas Cowboys give this one away. I don't think so. I mean, if you've seen any of the Raiders throughout the course of the season, the odds are very slim that they'll do anything worth a damn in this game. Not good. Ugh, wow.

The year is twenty twenty five. But if we hit the rewind button, which we will, we can learn about a few things that took place this day in sports history. Shut up. Back, back, back! Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore.
But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything, and it was primitive and lousy, and we liked it. The JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.
It is. November 17th. Yeah. If we go back to November 17th, 1956, the late great Jim Brown was out there bussing heads. At Syracuse.
Okay, Syracuse beat Colgate 61 to seven, but Jim Brown. He had an NCAA record. For points by an individual player, He had six touchdowns and then he kicked seven extra points for 43 points. He accounted for 43 points in this game. A legend he was.
I don't care if he was in college or he was playing in the pros. Listen to this video. It's from the College Football Hall of Fame, just talking about how great Jim Brown was. Jim Brown earned the nickname First Down Brown while putting up sensational numbers for Syracuse. He was a unanimous All-America in 1956 and his 986 rushing yards were third most in the nation.
Brown was a versatile athlete. Excelling as a placekicker and lettering in four sports, including being regarded as the nation's top lacrosse player in 1957. Brown had an iconic NFL career with the Cleveland Browns and was inducted into the college and pro football halls of fame, solidifying his legacy as one of football's greatest players. And then we know he certainly left the NFL on his own accord for Hollywood. November 17th.
1968, it was the Heidi game.
Okay, we got the Raiders and the Jets were playing. And we were down to the final minutes. And NBC said screw this game. and they put on Heidi, the television special. And people miss the end of this game.
Okay. There was a comeback victory. The Raiders had two touchdowns late. They came to beat the Jets 43-32, and people were ticked off. Because I ended up watching Heidi instead of football.
A matter of fact, there was even a documentary. About this. Listen to this. Apparently we put that in over Heidi trying to get up and walk and it was a very tense scene and we're putting in the score of a football game and it just really wasn't very pretty. but it was on the front page of the New York Times.
And when you say something's on the front page of the New York Times, you've got to figure it's pretty important. NBC apologized for the error, but by then Oakland had scored two touchdowns in the last minute at beaten New York. The game was over. The fans who missed it could not be consoled. Probably the significance factor is that whatever you do, you better not leave an NFL football game.
Ten years earlier, if you did the same thing on a telecast, Would you get that kind of an uproar? I don't know, but you sure did at that point in time, and it sure lets you know that you better not take my football away from me at 7 o'clock. Man, could you imagine if that were to happen now? It wouldn't happen. A different time, different era.
That took place in 1968. November 17, 2001. Lennox Lewis, he knocked out Hasim Brahman. He did it in the fourth round and he won back his WBC and IBF Heavyweight Championships. Rockman Championship He didn't even last a full year.
Matter of fact, it was the shortest in heavyweight history, only 209 years. Days. Lennox Lewis was asked on HBO after the fight. Did you know you were gonna beat this man up? W was he kinda off?
Well, I seen a little twinkle in his eye, you know. You know, plus I've been dreaming old wig to change his name. Change his name from husband to has-been Rockman. His name's Hasbeen Rockman now. Damn.
He called him an ass. Lennox Lewis was talking that trash.
Okay, damn. November 17th, 2007, Martin Brodor. He became the second goalie in NHL history. To win 500 games. He stopped 26 shots as the Devils beat the Flyers 6-2.
Take a listen to Martin Brodor on winning his 500th game. It was on ESPN. It means a lot. I think I base my whole career towards his accomplishment to a certain extent, how consistent he was towards the game and towards every season that he played. And that equals a lot of wins.
We both played for great teams and that's, for me, just the fact I was able to do it with that one organization, I think it makes me feel pretty good about what we accomplished here in New Jersey. Yeah, New Jersey. Basha, you're a Hollanders fan, right? Yeah, but I don't mind the Devils. They're okay.
I have no beef.
Okay. You don't see the devil on TV too much. What happened to him? The Jersey Devil? Yeah, he's around.
Is he? Yeah, he was a pretty good mascot. I think they kind of tamed him down a little bit. Why, with the pitchfork and stuff? No, not the pitchfork, just like he was kind of like the.
He would do some he was like you know how gritty is with the flyers He was like that before. He was devilish. Yes, of course. He was a devil. He's a New Jersey devil.
There you have it. November 17th. He still is a devil. November 17, 2014. Giancarlo Stanton At this point in time he was with the Miami Marlins.
He came to an agreement on a contract: $325 million over 13 years.
Okay, he got more money than Miguel Cabrera at the time. Who had a 10-year $292 million contract? And now, Giancarlo Stanton, well, he's the Yankees' problem. At the time, this is what he had to say about his extension with the Marlins. Man, really, this is a big day for us.
We're gonna. start pushing forward here this is one step to some building blocks that we need here Um the We've had some bumps in the road and that's baseball. It takes time and patience. And we're in the right direction. And this is for the city of Miami.
This is for newfound confidence and trust. This isn't like... uh a lottery ticket and and peace out all right now Uh People are thinking it like that.

Now he's the Yankees' problem. The poor guy can't even run down a football without the football field. Too much football on the brain. The man can't even run. the base paths.
He can't play the field. His legs will just fall apart. And there you have it, a few things that took place this day in sports history. It's been November 17th all day long. And as it stands right now in Las Vegas, congratulations to the Raiders.
They were able to kick a field goal. The Dallas Cowboys lead twenty four Tonight. Botcha, you said this one was going to be a blowout.
So far you are a hundred percent correct. I thought the Raiders would score a little bit more and just the Cowboys would just blow them out because I don't think there's any real talent besides Max Crosby on that defense? But yeah, I'm kind of a Not surprised at what's going on. It just seems that the Raiders are clueless.
Well, Dak Prescott has three touchdowns. Geno Smith has an interception. They have no run game. Oh my God. Ashton Genty here.
Two carries. For a whopping Ten Yards. The Raiders have twenty one yards on the ground. Brock Bowers, of course, he is option number one, two, three, and four when it comes to the passing game. He has four receptions for 58 yards.
And if I'm Pete Carroll, I'm like, man. Do I need to retire? Can I just go home and call it a rap? Like, why am I sitting around? Babysitting this nonsense.
Uh the Raiders look like they're on their way.
Now two are two and eight. Record here. Dallas leads 24 to 9, and this will kind of A wrap up this season and f well, not this season, but this week in front of us. And and even with the victory, if the Cowboys hold on and if they don't choke. Dallas Cowboys will improve their record to four five.
and one.
Now, these ties always get to me. They never look good on paper. They never look good on the standings. But this is a. This game is a joke, okay?
And then we also learned that CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were benched for the opening drive. Apparently, we'll find out why. they were benched at the end of the game, but I mean, look, they they Each holding a touchdown pass.
So. Ain't harming anybody out here. And if you're gonna get benched against any team in particular, why not get benched against the Raiders? They don't know what the hell they're doing. Poor Max Crosby, and we know he's not poor, he's making what $35 million a season.
Uh Max Crosby here is uh He just looks miserable. I mean they show him and Geno Smith and pretty much and nobody else on the team. Because there's nothing to do on the Raiders but just look miserable.
So, of course, we'll have a chat about this game. Uh tomorrow. and I'm sure it won't be in the raiders' favor. Uh And Bacha, you can't even bench Gino because what are you benching him for? For Kenny Pickett?
Yeah, I would say it's a good spark. But there's no spark there. Yeah, there's no no spark. It's like trying to start a car that is uh going nowhere. The Raiders are going absolutely Nowhere.
