Keep you up to date on Thursday night football. expected to kick things off, in about fifteen minutes from now.

So as things uh go on, Well we'll let you know. Ibacha, are you expecting a surprise? Are you going Broncos here? Yeah, I don't expect anything out of the Raiders. I really don't.

Until they changed Geno Smith, And maybe you have one fluke game where a quarterback somehow throws her three touchdowns. Yeah, I don't see anything coming out of this game. Yeah. It's disappointing. See, I'm disappointed in Ashton Genty, and I get it.

He's playing on a bum team right now. Only four hundred eighty seven yards rushing three touchdowns. It was just um Uh He's on a bad team. What what what do you expect and what do you want from the guy?

So We'll see what happens, maybe. Maybe they'll surprise tonight. You never know. Maybe the broncos'll be out here falling asleep, uh These things take time. To evolve, so we'll let you know how that game goes.

Speaking of where you end up. You know, they say it's not how you start but how you finish. We talked about Colin Murray and What may happen with him with the Arizona Cardinals? They're putting him on injured reserve. He's going to be out for the next four weeks, next four games.

As Jacoby Brissette is going to be the dude out there to get a start.

Now. He's not the only guy who might be moving on to another team. It seems like every day that goes by. There's a news situation or there's a bit of news when it comes down to John Morant.

Okay, we all have heard the story about John Morant last week. pretty much throwing his coach Thomas C. Silo or Isolo under the bus. He gets suspended for that 'cause he was playing like a jerk. He got called out for it.

and then he gets suspended, he comes back, he pretty much doubles down on it. And he's just, he's been a pain in the ass. And Bacher and I have had a conversation about, you know, who the heck would take on John Morant.

Now that Botcher had brought up that maybe it's the Brooklynettes.

Okay, w Bacher, who's that biggest star right now? Nobody, right? Michael Porter Jr. Yeah, nobody. It's the Brooklynette's biggest start.

Then it was also reported and said that John Morant might be on his way, or the Sacramento Kings w would potentially. Have interest. And then it was also reported today. This was this made me kind of shake my head. I'm like, okay, let's throw anything.

up against the wall and see if it sticks. It's been said that the rockets would potentially be interested in John Morant. It's also been said that the the timber wolves Would be entrusted. I'm like, what are we doing here? The Rockets are paying all this money.

They just gave Kevin Durant a contract extension. Wee.

Okay, Fred Van Vlied is hurt. You gave him a contract extension.

Somebody's gonna take on an old guy. With an injured contract, just to have a veteran who's potentially healthy next year, maybe. That's the approach of the Memphis Grizzlies. It's it's just tough.

So I don't I don't know about Houston. And then he's always hurt. I I just think that'd be a a bad idea. A, how do you bring his contract on? And then B.

Can you really trust him to be healthy? I I think the hell not. It's even hilarious. mean the Memphis Grizzlies were taking on the Rockets. Rockets ended up beating them yesterday, one hundred twenty four to one oh nine.

Botcha, did you see the clip of Kevin Durant yelling at John Morant's dad? Yeah, I find it hilarious that John Morant's dad still has the the guts and the bravery to trash talk these players.

Well, I didn't hear hi what did he say to Kevin Durant? I didn't hear anything of that. I don't know, it wasn't shown, but I'm assuming that in his personality, Team Moran is just gonna try to antagonize anyone. Yeah, there's a clip that's not all that clear here on the radio. It wouldn't be clear here on the radio.

But it went viral on the internet. where Kevin Durant is yelling at John Moran's dad, who's sitting court side, And Kevin Durant is pretty much telling him. Hey, listen, man, We know your son doesn't want to be here. You know, enjoy your last weekend. here in Memphis and it's just like well damn that's critical.

Pretty hilarious. And then not too long after those comments, in a hilarious fashion John Morant kinda checked into the game. Uh Yeah, he he is not long. from Memphis. And to say that he's gonna end up in Houston I doubt it.

I I I don't expect that. What's and any of us even the Timberwolves? What the heck are the Timberwolves given up? To bring on John Morant. And why would you want John Morant Do I want John Morant?

paired up with Anthony Edwards' answers? No. What is that? Going to be a dynamic duo? I think not.

Anthony Edwards is shown by himself with good pieces around him. He can help take you to a Western Conference finals. Y you you want to give up an asset for a guy in John Morant? who who can't even stay healthy in a full season? I I don't know.

It's more likely than not. that he ends up just on a bad team. Like the Sacramento Kings. We have to see how that. Ends up.

Thomas Isalo he actually talked about Jean Morant, that is his head coach, that he can't stand. I know he couldn't stand the last at Coach Arthur, Taylor Jenkins, is why they fired him. This is what Isalo had to say about communicating with Ja, especially in a game. I thought we had pretty good communication during the game and mostly If you look at how basketball has evolved over the years, the communication happens a lot in deadball situations, otherwise, it's too slow. When you look at Houston's defense, for example, they're a very strong half-court defense when they're able to sit.

So basketball has moved away from calling plays in like live play.

So it's more in deadball situations, coming out of timeouts and like this. And overall, I think our offense right now is both from a player and ball movement standpoint very stagnant. Man. Things are very stagnant right now.

Well, we see that John Moran is a one-man gang out there. He apparently didn't like how the offense was running last year, and now he doesn't like what this coach is doing.

So, why don't you just coach your own team?

Okay, when are you going to have some success? When are you going to not make mistakes? He's just a pain in the ass. Send him. To the sacramental kings.

Just send them. I mean, is there a worse place to send him? Help me, botchers, there no, not really, right? Uh Charlotte, nah. Oh no.

No, not really. Yeah, he yeah, the Kings are the worst place that he can go.

So uh Good l good luck to him. They misery loves company. Send him out to Caltown.

Okay? Shoutouts to everybody in in Caltown. Botch, you you you like Caltown, right? Yeah, of course. I've never been there, but I love it.

Good, good. There was uh another reference to there was a different town that came to my mind, but uh I'm I'm gonna stay away from that one, Batro, okay? I don't know that one either, so Yeah, I tho I thought about Sexy Red for a second, so Oh, yeah, I got it now. Yeah, we'll stay away from that one. Anyway, speaking of Sacramento.

I guess it's the place where careers go to die. Oh, this is so bad.

Sorry, Russell Westbrook.

Sorry. I mean, we heard that the he said it himself. The Denver Nuggets did not want him. That's why he is where he is right now. Zach Levine ain't winning nothing in Sacramento.

DeMar DeRosen ain't winning nothing there. All these guys are just occupying space that also includes Russell Westbrook. Last night, God bless them, the Kings beat the Warriors one twenty-one to one sixteen. Russell Westbrook played thirty five minutes, twenty three points, ten assists, sixteen rebounds. He had a throwback type of night.

Good. I mean, it's not going to be consistent, not enough for anybody. It was the 204th triple-double of his career. Russell Westbrook's been around 18 years. And in grabbing 16 rebounds, Russell Westbrook, now has more rebounds as a point guard than anybody in NBA history.

He surpassed Jason Kidd last night, and then when he was uh asked about it, he's just like, No disrespect. Uh and the greatest rebounding guard of all time. Your secret and being able to kind of impact plays like that. Oh, man, I'm the. I mean, humbly speaking, I'm the best rebounding guard ever.

So When the ball come across the room, I'm gonna get it. Yeah. Okay. That is good. Hey, Doug Christie.

Doug Christie, if I remember correctly, he's, I mean, skinny guy, but he was a pretty good rebounder for a shooting guard. He talked about Russell Westbrook, and he's like, Yeah, yeah, the guy's still good. You know, Russ is a um First, he's a Hall of Famer, an incredible talent. but the passion and the desire that he plays with is crazy. That's really what the game is about.

It's about a kid's game that you still play with that type of effort, energy and enthusiasm. It's beautiful to watch. Oh, that's nice. You know why the hell not? Let's hear from Steve Kerr.

Let's throw some flowers for Russell Westbrook. That's what Steve Kerr had to say. Russell was great. I thought, you know, they got great effort and production from all their vets. You know, DeRosen took over that third quarter, getting fouled.

Russell was incredible all night. And then Dennis, you know, down the stretch, making big plays. Damn, somebody get Steve Kerr some water, okay? He's having some uh some trouble there.

Okay. And this is what it boils down to. The Sacramento Kings They have a record of three in five. Let me say that again. They have a record of three and five.

The Western Conference is stacked. Don't expect anything. nothing from this tea. Here so far, in the eight games that Russell Wilson has played, or excuse me, mixing up uh Russells, who are at the end of their careers. Russell Westbrook, 15 points.

Seven rebounds, six assists. That's what he's been able to do. The part that stinks is none of this is going to win till long term winning. Who'd be shocked if Russell Westbrook is not traded by the time we get to the deadline? Maybe he ends up wanting a contender to come off the bench, bring the ball up court, add some energy, hopefully not take a ridiculous jump shot.

Yeah. So far so good. I mean, I think the Sacramento Kings are nothing but a Man. They're proving ground. for other teams.

That's it?

Okay, let's take a listen. to Russell Westbrook. as to why things are working in Sacramento so far, even though they got a record of three and five, huh? Um preparation. My first just my just you know, I was able to Prepared myself for whenever I was able to get a call in.

Not just that, the Kings has welcomed me with open arms. And My job is to be able to find ways to adapt and find a way to help this team in the way I can, and that's what I'm trying to do. What whatever works, he's had two good games in a row now. Twenty three points, twenty six points. Is he now going to be the guy?

I don't know. If I'm Russell Westbrook, I'm trying to play my way onto a contending team. I mean, those are the conversations he has privately. That's not something he's going to say in public. Russell Westbrook next week.

He's turning thirty seven years old. He's always been a freak of nature physically. He's always been able to jump out the gym. He's still a ridiculous athlete. He's been durable.

And for that, you've got to give him credit. He's tenacious. He's always wanted to play. He's always been confident. He's never been shy.

He is who he is. You've got to give him credit. For that one. It's what Russell Westbrook had to say about still doing this at almost thirty-seven years old. And the honesty is just uh Blessing to be honest, man.

I don't take this game the opportunity to be able to go out and compete for granted. I'm just super grateful and and and thankful uh to be able to go out and I'll still compete.

Well, we know he is uh He's one of the top 75 players that we've seen in the NBA. He's an MVP. He's a future Hall of Famer, regardless of how you feel about him. This man has had an 18-year career where he has just played. Oh, let me choose my words.

He's played very aggressively. Ball's de roar. And he hasn't changed. And for that, I give him tons and tons of credit, regardless of. Who?

Whoever wants him? to take some blame. I hope he ends up with a championship. Can he end up on the team and help bringing the ball up court as a backup point guard, bringing a spark every now and then? I still think that possibility exists.

It'd be nice if Russell Westbrook got his hand on the championship sooner than later. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It's the JR Sport Brief show here with you coast to coast on the Infiniti Sports Network. Man, there's so much going on in the world of sports that just revolves in in in deals with with gambling. I mean, we got this news earlier today. that ESBN BET was removing Penn National Gaming and hooking up with DraftKings.

I mean, we've had professional athletes who've been suspended. We've had legends arrested, guys like Chauncey Billips over, you know, ideas of, well, Gambling, potentially committing crimes. We have college, the NCAA has no idea what they want to do. With their athletes. Do we want to let them gamble?

Do we not want to let them gambling? It's just the world is blown up. at least the United States of America is just openly Are brought in gambling to the table, and now they're trying to figure out how to regulate all of it. And it seems like it changes every single day. And joining us right now, welcome back to the show, is someone who can talk to us about all of this.

Senior Editor from The Athletic, covering all things sports betting. Welcome back, Hannah Van Bibber. Hannah, how are you? I'm good. How are you?

It's great to be back.

Well, thank you so much. A little bit different than Mrs. Swift, but here we are, right? That's right. That is the nature of sports right now.

Hey, well, Hannah, I know you have a whole background when it comes to betting and this gambling aspect.

Well, first, let let's start here. For anyone who's not familiar, we know ESBN like a lot of the leagues, the NBA will get into that as well. They're going to be sitting in front of Congress soon. What's this deal with with ESBN BET and them moving away from working with Penn National Gaming and now hooking up with DraftKings? Yeah, so this is really a story about market share and kind of the like the bubble bursting or maybe the gold rush failing for some companies of sports betting.

A lot, DraftKings and FanDuel kind of form a duopoly. They have like over 60% of the market share of sports betting. And so ESPN went in with Penn to try to create like the third pillar. They wanted to have a 20% market share by 2027. They made this $2 billion deal two years ago.

And they have like a maybe a 3% share of the market right now. And so they just were not hitting the goals they set out to. And so they are folding the deal. early. There was an opt-out in three years, but they've agreed to opt out even earlier.

And by December 1st, ESPN is shuttering the app, their ESPN bedding app. That will become the score, which is a pen brand. They already work with that brand in Ontario.

So you're going to see ESPN bet still, but it'll be more content. And the DraftKings will become a tab within the ESPN app. They will be the exclusive betting partner. And it's really just they realized, I mean, kind of in plain English, it wasn't going well trying to create their own.

So they're back with DraftKings, who they had to deal with before this Penn deal. Hannah Van Biber is here with us, senior editor for sports betting with The Athletic.

Now, we've heard that Penn National Gaming, Penn Entertainment, at one point in time they had a deal with Barstool, and that didn't work. And then they had a deal with ESPN, and we learned earlier today that that did not work.

So, what the heck is next for Penn Entertainment? I mean, they're a gambling company, they're not going anywhere. That's right. Yeah. They're not going anywhere.

They're staying in gambling. Although estimates say that they've spent more than $1.5 billion between Barstool and ESPN, which is in some ways a loss because those didn't pay off. Those bets, sorry for the pun, didn't pay off. But they are going to be going back to focusing on their brick and mortar casinos, Hollywood casinos. And then as they also have iCasinos, which is basically like an app where you can gamble like you would at a casino, but on your phone.

So they're going to be focusing more on that. Their shares actually went up at first at the announcement today, I think because they were offloading. They were paying $150 million to ESPN every year.

So their shares went up and then kind of crashed after the DraftKings announcement. But they are going to refocus Their leaders say they're focusing on profitability this year and the things that they've always done well. Quote unquote.

Well, Hannah, we've heard what you just said. It everybody's been kind of on a land grab to kind of get involved since the leagues have opened things up. Here in the United States of America, we're behind the eight ball. I mean, you could have gambled in Europe forever. And then here in the States, it's opened up so much so that we're kind of behind in regulation.

We've seen and heard all the stories, guys like Damon Jones, who was arraigned today, giving information away in a different space with Chauncey Billips, arrested with the poker games. We got the NBA, they're going to be in front of Congress. How are you guys making sure that the games are not rigged? What does any of this mean, and how difficult is it going to be to kind of reign the leagues and then maybe even some of their players in? knowing that somebody's always going to try to get ahead.

Yeah, it's a great question. And I think you really said it when you pointed out that it's kind of not a latent industry in the U.S. anymore. It's huge, but it's still so new. It only got legalized about seven years ago or decriminalized.

And so there's a lot of regulation that probably will be happening over the next months and years. And I think these scandals are sort of In some ways, we've always had sports gambling scandals. I mean, 1919 was the Black Sox scandal, right, where they threw the World Series.

So it's existed as long as people have gambled on sports, which people have done as long as sports have existed. There's just more opportunity for it because of the proliferation of sports betting. One important nuance to it is that with regulated legal books, It's a lot easier to track. Illegal activity.

So the FBI was on this very quickly because a lot of sports folks reported as soon as there was. Strange activity on like Terry Rovier's unders. There were all these bets that came in on his unders and like this. Kind of random player, no offense. And they all were paying out consistently.

And the sports, several sports books, flagged this immediately, and that's what started the investigation.

So there's it's kind of like two sides of a coin, right? There's more opportunity for more people to try to rig the system in their favor, but then it's easier to track illegal activity as well and more protection for the people who are gambling.

So it's a bit of a catch-22, but I do expect to see a lot more regulation at the federal level and a more consistent level because sort of every state does it their own way right now. Yeah, well, we know one thing that you can do now. Anybody can open up their phone. I mean, we can go back more than a year. We got Jameson Williams, who was.

You know, pop for gambling on his phone. Calvin Ridley, you know, gambling on his phone. We heard about Jante Porter throwing games so he can hit his under. Same thing with Rogier. Because there's so much access to gambling now with your phone and betting.

Do you think that, and then the leagues are embedded? You said it's a catch-22. The leagues are making tons of money now. Mm-hmm. Where is the regulation?

Are we going to see a change in what people are allowed to bet on? Is that not the only thing that you can try to uphold integrity where people don't feel they're watching the WWE NFL game that's rigged or NBA game? Yeah, there's so much discussion around where the regulation needs to happen. And some states have more. Regulation than others.

Like in some states, you can't bet on college games within that state, or you can't bet on college players. But there's a lot of conversation about, I would say, some of the main buckets of bets and regulation that's being talked about is something like setting bet limits on prop bets.

So player props is those like over-unders, how many points will a player score, or even a prop bet could be what's going to be the speed of the next pitch. And you can have these, we call them micro bets within a live game that just keeps people betting more and more. And that is one place that's being targeted to reduce or ban micro bets on the next section of a game. Setting limits on prop bets or eliminating prop bets for college players or let's say only allowing them for big stars who may be less likely to be involved because they may not need the money.

So no prop bets. For college students, because can you imagine being in college and being offered like hundreds of thousands of dollars just to Like, call out of the game early.

So, there are ways that they're looking at what are the most vulnerable and easiest events to manipulate, and how can we regulate that? Like a missed free throw. We shouldn't be betting on that. That's so easy to throw.

So, there's conversations about that, around limits, and then, of course, around the way your money comes in and out of the sports book as well, and into your account, and how they track people who are quote unquote problem gamblers.

So there are a lot of areas to hit this, and there's a ton of research. I've been talking with a lot of people who are putting a lot of money. Different foundations, different government entities are looking into this and trying to do some serious research into the impacts and where we could really regulate and change things. Hannah Van Biber is here with us from the Athletics Senior Editor of All Things Sports Betting. You mentioned college students, and we've heard in the NCAA the past couple of seasons as the athletes have been able to make money and get their share of the pie in so many different ways.

They've been allowed now to gamble on pro sports. But now it's like, oh my god, that's a little too much, a little too much too soon. The NCAA is typically all over the place. What type of regulation could there be on these athletes? They can't b gamble on games, can they?

What's the latest on that? Yeah, so it's been kind of a mess on that lately because the NCAA said they would allow athletes to bet on pro sports. Starting in November, and there was some backlash to that. If they do allow athletes to bet, I mean, I can see it going that way because there's the argument that, you know. People can do whatever they want with their money.

In this country, but there needs to be some consideration. Obviously, they can't bet on their own games. They can't probably bet on their own league. But will the NCAA be okay with them betting on pro sports? I'm not sure.

How that will go. I mean, they are moving in that direction now, but there's been a lot of backlash and questioning about it. Oh Hannah, th things are so new. When I say new, we're talking about the past five, six, seven years. How long is it going to take for us to have regulation?

As we both said.

Somebody is always going to try to find a way around things to cheat, to make money, to find the easy way out, to be quick. That's always going to be the case. How long do you think it's going to take for us to have parameters? Sure, they're going to grill Adam Silver in a week or two, and people will try to yell at him and make it sound like they're doing something. When are we really going to get some real action here?

Maybe. Yes, that's a great question that I can't answer, but I would say it will take it'll take years to get to a place where because think about how long it takes to put regulation through. I think it's going to take a lot of research, people looking into the impact, financial, emotional, mental health. Of betting and then also looking at the best ways to do it safely because we do think people should be able to do what they want with their money. A lot of people are having more fun with sports when they're putting a little money on a game.

So, how do we enable that gamification of watching a game without putting people at risk or without putting the game itself at risk?

So, I think it's going to take a lot of research, but all of that is happening right now. I there's already been a few things, like the NDA has made a few changes about like players on two-way contracts or shorter contracts. You can't bet on them. Prop bet.

So I think leagues will start figuring out what is best for their league, their players. And they're the ones who are going to have to put like their weight and their money behind pushing for these regulations. Yeah. Yeah. Even outside of that, Hannah, you bring up a good point, gambling on a guy who's on a two-way.

Yeah, he'd have more incentive to try to strike it rich than, I don't know, some guy like Steph Curry making God only knows how much money he's halfway to being a billionaire. Is there any other. Direct impact for our listeners, for the consumer, somebody who wants to put down $20 hoping that it flips to $400. Like, is there any other immediate impact, or is this just. a a small, minor change they won't even notice.

Well, there's not really an immediate impact on what's going on with, you know, ESPN, with the NDA. I just think that it's in some ways good that this information is out there and that people are encouraged to be smart in the way they bet. Be aware of how sports books might encourage you to chase a loss. Don't do that. You know, set yourself limits.

Set yourself a separate account where you use, don't put extra money in after you lose a bet.

So I think it's really important that anyone who wants to have fun gambling on sports really learns about what are some of the risks and what is the best way for me to approach this in a way that doesn't put me at risk. Yeah, good thoughts.

Network Yeah, man, shout outs to Hannah Van Beber for joining us. Senior Editor Sports Betting for the Athletic. Man, there's so much To get into, we got Damon Jones who pled not guilty. in his gambling case. We heard that He was uh sharing information about Guys like LeBron James and Anthony Davis and their availability.

Allegedly trying to help people out, and then also allegedly rigging poker games.

So, Damon Jones, he says, I'm not guilty. uh to any of this. And then even even in the UFC, you don't typically hear about you know, a guy going out there trying to blow or or rig a fight. But we recently had this this story. We've heard a lot from Dana White recently about it.

Isaac Dalgarian. He was a UFC featherweight. He was recently let go. by the UFC. Because of a fight that he just had.

Where he was the heavy favorite to go out there and win. Uh but he lost via first round submission. And it basically lined up perfectly with an unusual betting pattern. Basically, a whole lot of people woke up and they said, I'm gonna take a bet that he gets choked out. which happened exactly And so Dana White had a lot of explaining to do with this one, and And he's trying to maintain and uphold the integrity of a UFC fight.

Who would have thought? Listen to what he had to say about getting the FBI involved because of Hey, it's like if Michael Jordan lost a one-on-one to a little kid, it's like, hey, Michael Jordan threw the fight or through the basketball game. Listen to what Dana White said. We're with a company called IC360, and they are the best bet monitoring company in the business. They reached out to us and they told us that there was some unusual.

action going on with that fight do we know anything we didn't so what we did was we called the fighter and his lawyer and said what's going on there's some weird action going on in your bet uh weird betting action going on in your fight are you uh are you injured do you owe anybody money has anybody approached you to you know and and the kid said no absolutely not i'm gonna kill this guy and so we said okay the fight plays out and uh first round finish By rear naked choke. Literally, the first thing we did was call the FBI.

So we called the FBI. I've met with the FBI twice today. People out there talking, oh, there's hundreds of fights under a vet. It's total bullshit. Hmm.

He didn't stop there because you know Dana White he's he's not gonna stop, he's gonna keep going. He says, Look, we know when these things happen, like we keep track.

So, this company, IC360, which is the best bet monitoring company in the business, we've been with them for years and we get a report after every single fight that we do.

So, for anybody out there that's clickbait and saying, oh, there's hundreds of, it's all bullshit.

So when this did happen, you know, a couple years ago, whenever it was, that investigation is still ongoing, and now will be a part of this investigation, too. Yeah. Look, you can do Everything you want. We just had this chat with Hannah Van Bibber. You could do whatever you want.

There's always going to be somebody. that tries to get ahead. E even a fighter. Like, oh, yeah, I got choked out today. There's always going to be somebody that gets ahead or tries to get ahead.

And then the minute that things get quiet, somebody else will pop up and try to do the same thing. Everybody is trying to people want to make money. All the leagues. UFC, NBA, NFL, MLL, they all want to make money. They want to get their piece of the pie when it comes to gambling.

Whether it's marketing deals or getting a share of what gets moved around by the consumer. I can't fault them. But what they also have to do is to maintain the integrity of the league. To know that somebody will still continue to bet and gamble, so there's money to be made. without everybody just going, Why am I gonna bet on on something that's rigged?

People won't bother. They don't do that.

So Dana White was also asked. Are you worried about this? is what he said. Yeah. Zero.

I'm not worried about it at all. Um you know People ask me, well, what are they talking about?

Somebody's saying, well, what's the UFC going to do? We let these guys know not to bet on fights. Do you know what the outcome of this is? If I penalize them, you get cut. They're gonna go to f ⁇ ing federal prison.

Fed roll. Prison. If you're that fing stupid. And somebody else wants to do it, knock yourself out. There's not enough money in it to ruin your life and not go to jail.

Go to federal prison. Uh There's always plenty of people who do it. There's plenty of this happens to plenty of people, so it's easy for you to say that you're not concerned. You are concerned. You are.

You wouldn't be saying this if you were if that wasn't the case. You wouldn't be sitting around doing interviews if this wasn't the case. There has to be some level of concern. I don't care if you're trying to measure it on a zero to ten scale. there's some level of concern.

I mean this guy's a He's a fight promoter, so he's gonna go out there and sell.

Now he's trying to sell everybody that, Hey, come come gamble, come bet on the UFC. Nobody's breaking the rules here, 'cause if they do, they're stupid.

Well, a guy did. And there's gonna be another one. It's like there'll be another NBA guy and another NFL person. Just how it is. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 8 at 8-710-45.

Four I S N We're getting ready to start the second quarter here. Thursday Night Football, the Raiders lead Denver 7-0. Ashton Genty with that rushing touchdown in the first quarter a few minutes ago. 888-710-4ISN. Jim is here from Chicago.

You're on the JR Sport Reshoe. Jim, what's up? Hey, JR, how's it going? I'm going well, man. What's on your mind?

Okay. Yeah, I just have different little different angle on things here. I've you know you were talking with the the lady uh just in the last half hour about the gambling and everything with the NBA.

Now many moons ago back in the day when the Bulls were still playing at the old Chicago Stadium, I had a freelance gig there. I was the sound engineer at all the home games, you know, with all the music and all that stuff. I used to do that at the home games. And when we get done setting the equipment up, this is back in the day before, you know, how it is modern now with all the video boards and everything. It was pretty basic.

You know, it was an old building, and we'd get to go out there before the players would start coming in, before the gates would open up and everything. And we'd shoot we'd be able to sh you know, shoot some baskets, goof around a little bit.

Okay. And now it was all fun.

Now, the thing was, is Every once in a while, you could tell. How tight the rims were on the backboards. If they had a little give to them, shooters touch, or if they were wound real tight, sometimes they'd ratchet them up. That ball would hit that rim just. fly out of there, you know, if if you didn't put it right in.

And uh, you know, we we'd uh we'd ask some we'd talk about it and uh a couple of the people in uh They would say, yeah, sometimes they would call their friends or buddies or whatever and kind of give them the lowdown. and that like I said, a different angle. That way it help them make a decision if they wanted to play an over, under or something like that on a game because that has an effect on when the ball you know, you worked with the NBA In your day, and everything as far as broadcasting and all that, there's a difference when you're shooting that ball, how tight that rim can be. It makes sense, yes. No, I just wanted to throw it in there.

This is going way back, like I said, in the late 80s, early 90s before they moved over to regulation. Oh, yeah, there's there's always home well, I don't want to say there's always home cooking, but there's I'll put it to you this way, Jim. And thank you for calling from Chicago. We're getting ready to hit the break. There is always, always somebody.

looking for a leg up. That's just the facts. There's always somebody looking for a leg up, looking for an advantage, any way they could get it. Gambling is is not exempt. It's it's the biggest thing.

'Cause it involves money. and it might be the easiest, smartest, and simplest thing. I can do this and I can do this and all I have to do is not get caught. People typically always get caught most of the time. And the consequences can be huge.

You heard from Dana White. He said he's not concerned. And people can go to prison over this. It's the JR Sport Reshow, the Infinity Sports Network. We'll give you an update on Thursday Night Football, the other side of the break, here on the Infinity Sports Network.
