from NFL.com for coming through and giving us a preview of tomorrow's game. between the Dolphins and the Bills. and also talking about what he expects to see the rest of the way with the NFL, Talked about these quarterback injuries. It's just a lot. going on.
We talked about Deion Sanders in this quarterback situation. Looks like he's going back to Caden Salter. We went into the whole free Rashi Rice t-shirts. Those things are ridiculous. We talked about Cal Raleigh.
Hitting home runs all over the place. You got into Otani, hitting home runs and striking people out. And then it's Wednesday. I just gave you a top six list. of overpaid athletes in twenty twenty five.
Who are the biggest overpaid athletes?
Well, At number six, I gave you Mike Trout. Number five, I gave you Kawhi. Number four, I gave you Zion. Number three I gave you Anthony Randone. Number two I gave you Joel and Bede.
And at number one, I gave you Deshaun Watson. Of course there's more than six overpaid athletes. I got some interesting names on the other side of the brake. Anyway, If you want to call up, you can. Like, who's an overpaid athlete right now?
Who's not earning their cash? Phone lines are here for you. We paid our bills. That reminds me I gotta call Verizon tomorrow, not to pay my bill. I gotta terminate one of my, uh What are my phone numbers?
I man It's stupid money. Anyway, 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me online. I exist everywhere.
At JR Sport Brief. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer in New York City, Ryan Botch, for holding it down on the boards. Hey, if you work for Verizon, email me. Hit me up.
I got some questions about that Verizon stuff. Yo, bacha, why are these cell phone bills so high, man? Why are they so high? A lot of satellites and towers and Uh, I don't know. They're greedy?
If somebody else could pay for it, okay. Do you remember when you had to make a phone call after like 9 or 10 p.m. to talk to somebody for free? Do you remember that? No, uh I don't think I've ever been old enough to remember that.
I are you familiar with what I'm saying? No idea. Wow.
Okay. Yeah, nights and weekends in order to, I guess, because of bandwidth and whatnot, and then to charge people. Like if you wanted to talk somebody talk to somebody on the phone and save money, you had to Have a chat with them at at night or the weekend. For free. It that there was a policy early on when cell phones were exploding, yeah.
I think it was more of an inf it was an infrastructure and cost thing. It's like if you made a phone call, you know, at 6 o'clock, then you'd start getting taxed for that. You have to wait until after nine o'clock to make that call for free. Yeah. Nights and weekends free.
I remember them days. Wow.
Anyway, 888-710-4ISN. All these athletes, they don't have to worry about it. Bach, we named all these athletes. Is there a guy that stands out to you that you haven't heard is being overpaid? Usually My mind goes to NBA just 'cause their contracts are so big.
But if you look at the NFL, Dak Prescott. And his cat hit. for where you'd rank him. As one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He's way too high.
So uh he's overpaid to me. But In comparison to the other quarterbacks, there's a lot of guys that are overpaid. Yeah, he's making that that that sixty mil a year on paper. Terry Jones is a schmuck. What a guy.
What an owner that guy is. Smart businessman and all that other stuff. But uh, So full of himself, he can't get out of the way when it comes to running football operations.
So, yeah, Dak, 60 mil. We know he ain't the best QB in the game. He could be an MVP candidate. I don't know if he'll get back to that level. Uh maybe this year with all the Well, how bad the defense is.
He's going to have to put up some monster numbers. He's going to be playing from behind. the majority of the time. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N And we got David, he's calling from Buffalo. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show.
What's up, David? A JR Good evening. How you doing? I'm amazing. What's up?
Good to hear, my man. Thanks for taking my call. First time, long time. And You know, I love the list. I I I I agree with you on On all of them.
But we got to find a way to To to put Our buddy Kirk Cousins in there from uh From your Falcons in there. Maybe like 3.5 or so? I don't know where he put it. He's interesting, right? They gave him money to bench him.
What a world this is, right? And I would Joe, sign me up for his job today. I would take that and I heard me. He's making 27, 28 mil the rest of the way to. Look, I didn't get it when they signed him, and then they drafted Penix after.
I'm just like. Hey, our look, Arthur Blank. If anyone who's not familiar, Arthur Blank is one of the founders of Home Depot. This man has sold so much lumber and so much wood, That he's like, I will pay a quarterback a lot of money just to sit on the bench. Like, he doesn't care.
That's a lot of wood. That's a lot of wood. It doesn't make much business sense, I can tell you that. And to be honest, even if he was playing, I don't even know if he'd still be worth it. I mean, our buddy Josh Allen, I know he just got paid, but I think he's making twelve million right now is what this year's salary is.
I mean, again, it's going to balloon. But you know, thirty-seven-year-old Kirk Cousins who and it was pretty serviceable. But to watch them there just chewing up cap for you guys is uh is Painful. I'm a big Falcons fan from the NFC side, so yeah, well he admitted to uh being hurt last year after he said he wasn't hurt and he threw all those damn interceptions, so Yeah, no doubt, man. Raheem Morrison and Crewe and Arthur Blank, they saw enough and.
Look, the Michael Pennix in college wasn't necessarily the uh The ideal model of health. And so maybe the Falcons are expecting him to go down at some point, so We'll see. He's getting paid a lot of money to kind of be a teacher right now. God bless him. No doubt.
All right. Thank you, Dave. Amen. Appreciate it. Yeah, thank you.
No doubt. Shout outs to David for calling from Buffalo. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go to Colorado Springs.
And let's talk to Johnny. Johnny. I'm JR. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up?
Hey, what's good, JR? How are you doing? I'm good. Very good.
So I'm calling in 'cause I think not not a minute Our days should go by. That we don't shed light on kind of the two things that both these commissioners in the NBA. and the NFL are dealing with. Right.
So for me it was the with the NFL It's The whole Tom Brady having access to all these different and not that and maybe they're not giving him anything, right? But I think that's kind of maybe that's the point. It is you know, with the media You know, the trust that these schemes are supposed to have with the media. you know. and having Tom Brady In and out of all these, you know, like, I just think it's a total conflict of interest.
And wait, Tom Brady is in and out of what?
Well, just we'll just well, okay, well, maybe I don't know what they give him access to. He's not just a he's not well I'll answer. I'll answer you. And then maybe your opinion will change. Maybe it won't.
I don't know. Tom Brady is not allowed to go anywhere. Except for where he shows up on game day at the stadium. And at that point, there really is no access outside of: hey, I'm going to stand on the sideline for a few minutes before I go upstairs. He's not allowed to go to teams' practice facilities.
If he interviews, he has to do these interviews for pre-production meetings. He has to do them remotely via Zoom and what have you. And so he ain't necessarily, you know, showing up at some the Vikings facility hanging out in the ceiling panels, you know? Oh, okay. Yeah, and that's the only one thing I wanna understand is like You know, what is his you know, I know his access is kind of what they allow him.
You know, but I just think that might maybe like provide issues for like You know, the rest, I don't know. I just him being in the box, that just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, you know?
Well, he's the owner of the team. Like, what's the problem with the Raiders? He can do whatever he wants with the Raiders. And any information that he gleans from another team, like, what is he getting from another team? Yeah, and I guess what you know, what is what is anybody who's doing, you know, the c you know, whatever job he's been doing, like with Here's here's a um Cover to the game.
I guess they've never really given those guys anything, anyways. Yeah, so what's the big deal? Yeah, maybe not, maybe not.
Well, I'm This is a big deal, and thank you, Johnny, for calling from Colorado Springs. This is a big deal. only when, we figure out that Tom Brady is like He's going undercover, okay? Like Tom Brady is sneaking into facilities and breaking open file cabinets and stealing iPads. That's when it's a big deal.
Because what possibly could he or anybody else learn from a team unless they just tell you?
Well they give it to you. or he's hustling somebody for information. Like, why would he do that? Maybe I oh well, let me not say that because we got idiots born every day. What what's Tom Brady gonna call up uh you know, a a former buddy?
Well, like the Patriots or something, they go, Hey, listen, man, I know you hate it there, they're going to fire you soon. You know, send that iPad to me. Like what w would he do that? This guy was so damn angry when he got suspended following Deflategate. He was so ticked off.
He's not running afoul or anything. Come on, man. Maybe maybe one day. Yeah. There's one guy who's not worried about it.
We discussed this, I think, in the first hour of the show. Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. are going to take on The Dallas Cowboys this upcoming Sunday.
Okay, that is America's game of the week. Prepare yourself for a lot of passes being thrown and interceptions between him and Dak Prescott. It'll probably be a high-scoring game. Maybe not what we saw with the New York Giants, but it'll probably be a lot of points. No defense.
All right. Tom Brady is going to be on the call. For that game. This upcoming Sunday. He's going to be in Dallas because that's his job.
to sit up there for Fox and say a whole lot of nothing. If you've learned something from Tom Brady, raise your hand. No hands were raised.
Okay, we get it.
Now, The following week, The Chicago Bears are going to take on guess who? Tom Brady's team. the Las Vegas Raiders.
So you mean to tell me that Tom Brady's sitting up in the booth and watching them play the Bears? He's not going to learn anything?
Well, you would think so. He might have a tidbit or learn something, but you would hope that at least the coaching staff of Las Vegas. actually knows something too. Just by watching the game, they shouldn't need Tom Brady to give them some top secret information now that he called the game. And if you're the Chicago Bears.
What are you going to do? Give Tom Brady the whole game plan? Like, what are we doing? Ben Johnson. the new head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Was asked about this. He was asked, Are you worried about Tom Brady? calling your game? being on site? Are you scared to talk to Tom Brady prior to the game?
In fear that he will reveal secrets to the Raiders when you play them the following week, Ben Johnson. He had the press conference room in stitches. Listen to this. Man, I've been careful everything I've said since the season started. I've been in pure coach speak mode.
Started.
So, to me, it's just business as usual. I'm just fine. I like Tom, and we have a really good relationship. You've got one of the most competitive people in the history of the sport frying around for information in a very paranoid world. How do you reconcile the conflict of interest that exists with all situations?
Yeah. Like I said, I'm really not worried about it. I mean, we change week to week in terms of what we do. Schematically, he's going to be able to turn on the tape and see what everyone else in the world's seeing right now. It's not like I'm going to sit down with them and tell, hey.
Don't do this to Caleb Williams, or you might get it. Like, I'm not gonna, there's not gonna be any trade secrets that are gonna be exchanged, but I just really don't think it's that big of a deal, to be honest with you. And he's right. It's not a big deal. People figure out a way to A cheat every day.
Come on now.
Somebody listening to me is on their way to cheating on their significant other. People figure out ways to cheat. I'm not trying to be a snitch or nothing like that. Maybe you're with the person you're cheating with right now. Possibly.
None of my business, not talking about it. People cheat in the NFL? deflated footballs and stealing signs, we got Cheetahs at Michigan and New England and Every people cheat. It's human nature.
Okay. Not on your signic significant other. I'm not an advocate for that, okay? People always gonna find a way. I just don't think it's in this case with Tom Brady, okay?
Not this time. 888. seven ten, four I S N. That's 888-710-4ISN. Mike is here from Chicago.
You're on the JR Sport Reach. Show us up, Mike. Hey, my brother from another mother. How are you doing, man? I'm good.
Yeah. Listen, I'm from Chicago, man. I'm a big Bears fan, and this is a dumpster fire already.
Okay, and this is pretty evident. But you want to talk about let's talk about someone stealing money. that isn't living up to their expectations. Let's go with Ryan Poles. I knew you were going to say that name.
Yep, yep, yep.
Well, I have to say it, JR, because it's the truth.
Now that man has drafted he hasn't drafted one player In the three years he's been the GM that he's been doing I think three or four years, I can't even remember. but he has not drafted one player that has gone to the Pro Bowl. And they gave him an extension. I mean, listen, I'm going to tell you something. I'm 63 years old, and I am finished.
Watching Bears football. I'm finished watching Barrisby football. Two games in already, man?
Well, I'll tell you why. Because listen to me. The guy don't know what he's doing, okay? And they gave him an extension. They just did the McCasky family when the McCaskies turned or when mister Hallis, Papa Bear Hallis, who was a storied franchise owner, okay, very well respected man in the NFL, founding father of the NFL.
When he handed the reins over in nineteen eighty four, they were riding the coattails of Jerry Venici and the other guys that built up that team and that Super Bowl team that ran into the early nineties. And after that, that's when the bottom fell out. because they have made mismanagement, mis guided decisions. They can't even build a stinking stadium. They tear something down.
They can't. That organization went from one of the best. historical franchises in the NFL most respected to like We're now at the Cleveland Browns level. I know you're never. I know, no.
Oh, come on, please. You think Caleb Williams is going to be anything? The jury is still out. I want to see, and this is what I'm saying about Ryan Poles. You talk about the talent that he's been able to draft.
Let's see what happens with Caleb Williams. I think Roma Dunze has certainly looked like he's improved. But more importantly, let's see what takes place the rest of this season with Ben Johnson at the helm. I'm not prepared. To throw Caleb Williams to the Wolves, to the dogs.
I'm not prepared to throw him into Lake Michigan. You know, based on what we've seen from last year to this year, when he's basically in a brand new system, you got to give it time. I'm not going to beat up Ryan Poles for the past few years. If Caleb Williams ends up being a quarterback for the next five years, are you going to just change your tune? I'm not going to change my tune, but I'm telling you, they overlap.
They get rid of a GM in the midst. They get rid of a head coach. I mean, how many and I got to say this, you're right, Caleb Williams, they mess with them. they should have made the coaching change the year before last, And they just they didn't do it. They kept Eberflues and they just What a Thanksgiving disaster he had.
Yeah, they just keep doing this, overlapping and changing. If they clean house, they got a clean house. Or they gotta just clean house and wipe the slate clean and slip or like the green baby. I want to give you advice, Mike. You might quit today.
It is september seventeenth. The season is long, but it's not that long. If you could hold on until, I don't know, January 15th. I think you'll have a better idea as to whether or not you want to stick around with this fan base. Let Ben Johnson, he just showed up.
Okay, just give it time.
Okay, if I call you on January 15th, are you going to Are you going to take are you going to agree with me that I was right then? It depends on whether you were right or wrong. What do I look like?
Well, I don't look like anything. You can't see. Ali Kro, if I'm wrong. If I'm wrong, I'll call you up and I'll say, JR, I'm a man of my word.
Well well, Mike, how how long have you listened to me? Actually, I'll be honest with you, man, only for a couple of years. I listened to you when you were younger. A couple of years ago. I went.
Oh, I've only been here f well, that I've only been here for five years. My point is, Mike. I'm gonna say the truth. What am I going to sit here, stand upside down and tell you that I'm right side up? If if if the Bears suck, they suck.
What difference does it matter to me? I don't get a check. Who's your team? J.R. Who do you grow up liking?
Who did I grew I grew up liking the Jets, the Giants and the Falcons.
Okay. And by the way, none of them pay me today enough to give a damn.
So, hey, if a team sucks, they suck. If they're good, they're good. Don't matter to me to say I was right or wrong. I didn't say anything. I said give them time.
That's what I say. Listen, can you give me 20 seconds to say something? I know I've been on here long, but I've got to say something important. No.
Okay, called a pheochromocytoma. It causes your blood pressure. Your blood sugar to go way up. And I didn't know I had this. I was living with this thing for a long time.
I almost went into cardiac arrest two years ago watching the Bears play.
So, honest to God, man, don't lose your life over it. It ain't worth it. I'm okay now. They took the tumor out there, no cancer. God bless you.
But it's. Yeah, thank you, JR. He said the bears almost killed you. Be happy and not a Browns fan, okay? Thank you, brother.
You're the best, man. You're the best. Thank you. Thank you, Mike, for calling from Chicago. He's like, the bears really almost killed me.
Was it the bears or was it the tumor? I think it was the tumor. Screw that tumor. I'm glad it's gone. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
Hey, we got more to do. I'm going to tell you about some evil baseball lady on the other side of the break. We'll get into a few things that took place this day in sports history. Don't move, the Chair Sport Reshow. Listen up football fans, you won't want to miss this.

Well, Mookie bets. Just dropped the latest edition of his podcast, if you recall and you know. passed several days The Phillies and Dodgers have been goin' at it. And so Mookie Betts had an opportunity to have a chat With Nick Castellanos. In their chat and their conversation involved, That lady down in Miami, that Phillies fan.
who stole that beta home run From the dad. No, she didn't steal it from the dad. The dad got the ball. He ran over towards her, took the ball, gave it to his son. She ran over, got in his face.
And then he's like, you know what? Screw this lady. I don't need to take this. And he just gave her the ball.
Now, I don't think this lady has been identified yet. Maybe she's in witness protection. We saw the Marlins did a very nice thing. The Phillies did very nice things. They hooked the little boy up.
He met Harrison Bader. He got a lot of stuff from everybody. Because that lady was acting like a jerk. Mookie Bets discuss this. With Castellanos.
And I'm just like, what is what is Nick saying here? Take a listen to this conversation. To a degree, is he defending her? Is he giving it logic? What's going on?
The ball should always be given to the kid. Yeah. Whenever I'm like playing catcher, I go, I always aim for a kid. You always have that ambitious adult sometimes that will come and grab it. But I see that I don't just see a ball.
I see a very frustrated lady for years that felt like she's probably been getting the shit under the stick, and now this thing happened. And she's like, I'm not finishing second here. I need this for me. Maybe she was giving it to her grandson or her son. I don't know.
We don't know. There are collectors out there. There are people that when they go to the game, they want a ball as well.
So thinking from a fan's perspective, it's kind of a tough situation to be because I want to get a foul ball. Shoot, I want to take my foul ball home. And if Nick Cassiana hits a foul ball, I want to take it home. But, you know, there's a kid over there. They probably are going to remember it a lot more.
And it's going to mean more to them than me. Hopefully, that woman is doing better today. The internet has let her have it.
So you guys all saw that, right? We saw it after the game. Vader's locker was next to mine in Miami.
So I was there when our media relations came up, explained the situation, and then said, like, hey, do you mind doing this? And he was like, of course, and went over and took care of the kid and his family and then some. He said the lady has had problems. Yes, she does. And she does, and I don't know whether or not he's, I don't believe he's excusing her behavior.
I think anybody would be like, hey, she was acting like a jerk. Why do p why do parents always got a screw things up. When it comes to sports, when it comes to the I don't know, youth? Can we just chill? Do you gotta be a jackass at the game?
Like, I remember at the U.S. Open a couple of weeks ago, that guy from Europe, I don't remember what country he's from. We had one guy signing something, handed it, basically handed it, tossed it to a kid. And the adult was so excited that he wanted to reach over and snatch it. He snatched it from the kid.
And then he had to put out an apology. Oh, my bad. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take it from the kid. Why are we so overzealous?
Like let the kids have their time. There should be an adult hanging out in the back. Like let the kids have the fun. Like, damn it, if you got to interject as an adult, it should only be for safety reasons, you know? Like man.
I take my kid to games. I don't care if he gets it.
Sometimes I tell him, hey, it's not over here. You're not getting it. It's simple as that. Life lesson. Everything out here ain't for you.
If it falls your way, you can grab it good. But everything he is learn how to not get something.
Now we got some 40, 50, 60 year old lady snatching baseballs from kids and confrontin' parents like get a life. And I know there's a lot of people out here who like to collect things and Get autographs and And then sell it. Man, if you got to snatch something from a kid, you're just a jackass. You ain't somebody just making money, you're a full-on jackass. Like, stop it.
Hey, Marco Belletti, I know you used to. used to umpire. You have to used to deal with some of these pain in the ass, parents. Like, why are they so overzealous? Is it their competitive juices because they don't play anymore?
Like, what makes you step into a stadium? or an arena. Even if it's it's not a youth game, it's a pro game. And people just lose their minds. I think one of the thing Cassianos I think hit on something though.
The idea of, well, she may be going to a game for a long time and didn't get anything.
So, this idea that when we get older, We didn't get something when we were kids, so we still want it.
So now we can do whatever we want to be able to get it. I think there's a lot of that. I do. I think a lot of people, I've never had this, so you don't know how long it's been. I don't care.
Get over it. I don't care. Get over it. And there's too many people that are just so wrapped up into that. Like, I've never been able to do this, I've never been able to have that.
I've never. Uh yeah, tough. And you don't get a chance. Yeah, that's what it is. And for the, I mean, for the kids, geez.
When you go to a game, if you It can't have a, and I'm not saying you don't have to automatically give it to the kid. Like, if you catch a home run and you want to keep it. That belongs to you. If you want to have to be a kid, you can. You ain't nobody forcing you to.
Right, because I mean, sometimes you. We've heard like the chants, and like you give it to the kid, like, yeah, that's peer pressure, that's unnecessary. But when the kid's got it in his glove, For you to go running over and then not at some point step back and realize and go. The hell am I doing? That doesn't even, you have no accountability, you have no sense of, I don't know, anything that's going on around you.
I I would say I feel bad for you, but I don't. I I mean at some point like What are we doing? Yeah, I still can't believe this lady has not been found. That's probably the most impressive thing that's happened out of all of you. This lady, there've been like three or four people to go, hey, y'all are yelling at me.
I'm not this lady. This lady, what she have like blonde streaks at the top and the sides were short. She's probably running around bald.
Well, her hair is black now.
So she's probably like, I'm not in this stuff. Yeah, but what happened to us as a society? Isn't that the whole point of the internet? Do we have people now? Yeah, that we know who everybody is at all times.
Like, what happened? I don't know. When did we fail? I don't know. It's been what, two weeks now, almost?
How hard could it be?
Now, we've all lost interest at this point, but how hard could it be to possibly not find this lady? I mean, I find that difficult.
Somebody knows her, right? Gotta be. And I mean, you saw the videos afterwards. I mean, she was giving the crowd the finger after they were starting to chant, like, you know, yelling at her and whatnot. She seemed to be reveling in this.
So, I don't know. Where's her 15 minutes? What happened? Yeah. I don't know.
There's something.
Well, a lot of things have happened since then. We found a lot of people for a lot of reasons. Maybe she's been overshadowed. That's another thing of the internet. It's what comes next?
Yeah, it shouldn't take this long. I'm disappointed in all of us. Yeah. Well, I wasn't looking. Were you looking?
No, but that's not what I do. That's the collective we. Yeah, I'm not involved in that. I'm lazy. I don't do that.
Yeah, I'm not looking at it. I'm not looking up either.
Some people, they find these people so fast, Marco. I'm like, damn. That's what I mean. Like, that's part of it. You know?
But what do we do? She gets found, and what are we going to do now? Fire her three weeks later? Yeah, nothing. I mean, one, it's lost its juice.
And two, like, really, once you find somebody, is it really just to point at them and laugh? I almost feel like we become Nelson. Ha ha. Like, it goes away, though. Yeah, she's the one laughing.
I'll tell you that much.
So, like, I got the ball, I gave y'all the finger, and y'all ain't find me, and I still got my job. Yeah, damn. Good for you. I'm almost proud of you. As much as I can't stand what you did, I'm almost proud of you that you were able to pull this off in this day and age.
Yeah, well, maybe she'll get her comeuppance in another way, okay. Maybe some little kid'll trip her. Yeah, hey, well, Mark, have you ever seen a wire? No, actually I didn't I know I know I know I know I know Ouch, ouch. I know, right?
I was going to tell you one of the main characters, he got a. He got his come-uppins from a little child, okay? Put it that way. Put it that way, Margot. I I I I'm embarrassed, is what I can say.
I'm disappointed myself that I don't know the reference. I never see it. No, no, no. It's a bad job by me. If there's anything that you want to see, then just sit down.
You'll enjoy it, Mark. I know. And I just have an idea. I actually made a list at some point, like all the things that I do want to watch. It's on that list.
I just, you know, I haven't gotten it. There's maybe about a season where you just go, what are they doing here? But then it's good. I've I've been having this conversation has now inspired me to to start watching a wire again. Eventually, not anytime soon.
I got no time. When I got time, I want to sleep. That's the thing. Like, we're in that survival mode. We got little kids.
And now it's not, you know, now I can't be going back to watch The Wire from 20 years ago. Yeah, what's that game the other day where Geno Smith was throwing three interceptions at halftime? I said, I'm going to bed. I'm not watching this loser. What am I doing this for?
Oh, I thought you meant, like, what kind of game was Geno Smith playing? Because it wasn't football. Like, I didn't know where you were headed in that.
Okay. No, no, no. I'm like, hey, I'm not I'm not gonna sit around and watch the second half. What was it, two weeks ago we had that lightning delay? I said, I'm not watching this.
And then nothing ha nothing happened in the second act. What was that? The Eagles Cowboy. That was the Eagles Cowboys. That was opening night.
The game stayed the same. Nobody could move the football after they came back. Yeah, I was like, man, I'm glad I went to sleep because I didn't miss a damn thing. I wonder if they forgot to bring their smelling salts back out. Maybe that was a thing.
Because you got to bring your own now. You got to carry your own drugs. Right.
Not drugs, not drugs. The smelling salts. Yeah, you know. Whatever way. UIOB.
Yeah, it gets the juices going. Yeah, new stuff, bring your own bottles and salts. Mm-hmm. Mm. It's the J.R.

College holds a mythic place in American culture. On the new Campus Files podcast, we uncover the scandals you won't hear on the campus tours. Find campus files on the free Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcasts. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. You're welcome, Mac.
It is the J. R. Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. Before I tell you about some news made today, It's time for us to go back. Into the past, because if you don't not, if you don't, understand the past.
How de heck are you going to prepare yourself for the future? Anyway. Let's go back inside. Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history.
See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and way to light. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. September 17th, 2025 is the year. But if we go back to September 17th in 1964, Mickey Man with the Mick.
He got career hits number 1999. A 2000. and 2001. and his 450th home run. The Yankees went out there, they beat the Angels six to two.
Listen to the mech. This is Speaking to the American dream come to life. This guy hit a lot of balls. He talked about the hardest time he's ever hit a ball. The hardest ball I think I ever hit.
Was in a night game against Kansas City, and Bill Fisher was pitching. And it was like a ninth inning or 12th inning or something. I know it was a late-inning game because it also won the game, but it was a line drive, and I thought it had a chance of making it. Like this is the only time I think that I ever really Cared. You know, as long as it was a home run is all I cared, you know.
But this time I hit it when I hit it, I thought this ball might go out of Yankee Stadium and I was kind of watching it and hoping, you know, and it hit that facade uh maybe this far from the top and bounced way back in toward the infield. But I think that was probably the hardest ball I ever hit. Nothing better than stories about old guys hitting balls hard. September 17th, somebody else. You get a lot of balls.
1984 Reggie Jackson He's the 13th player in baseball history at that time to get to 500 home runs. He did it against the Angels, or excuse me, he's playing for the Angels. He did it against the Royals. They lost 10 to 1. Listen to Reggie Jackson get the only run.
Set the leading off for the Angels here in the home half of number seven. Reggie thus far tonight, Jackson. is 0 for 1. He walked in the fourth with two outs. and went no farther.
There it goes, home run number five, button right. Yeah, it sounds like the teacher from Charlie Brown. September 17th, 1996, Hideo Nomo, his second year in the Bigs. This man went out there. And he hit it.
He got a no hitter. Coarse field. We know that's not supposed to happen. And Dodgers won 9-0. He had eight strikeouts.
Listen. Got him! Tadeo Nomo has done what they said could not be done. Not in the mile-high city, not at Poorsfield in Denver. He has not only shot out the Rockies, he has pitched a no-hitter, and thank goodness they saw it in Japan.
Oh, man, I miss him. I miss him. No missing. September 17th. 2004.
I don't miss this guy. He's still alive. Barry Bonds, he hit his 700th home run. He joined Babe Ruth. 714.
He joined Hank Aaron at 755 as the only players to get to 700. San Francisco beat San Diego. Four to one. Listen to this cheater. Shift design for bonds.
Bonds hits one to left center field. He hits it well. Let's go back. It is Conno here. Number 700 for Barry Bond.
Aaron Ruth and now Bonds, the 700 Home Run Club, is Bonds steps on home plate and listen to this crowd. I wonder if that night did he use the cream or the clear? September 17, 2019. How about this? Giants outfielder Mike Yashrunski.
He had a home run in his first game at Fenway Park. Yeah. Where's Granddad? It held it down for the Red Sox. Listen to this.
He does. High into center field. Yeah. Is Out of here! Unbelievable.
Number 20 here at Fenway Park. for Mike Yasrimsky. The emotions he must be feeling right now. He's trying to keep the poker face. He's trying to keep it.
And they'll be easy. Look at boats. Team picture in the dugout. High five into the stands. That is awesome.
Yeah, fun stuff. Yeah, let me know when you catch up to Grandad. 452 home runs for Carl. good luck. Yep, and there we have it.
A few things that took place this day in sports history. It's been September 17th. Or Day. No.
I'll tell you some news that was made today, early this morning on CBS. Stefan Diggs, let's just say, outside of his knee rehab. He's had a busy offseason.
Okay, so far, 10 receptions, 89 yards, 0 touchdowns for the. the Patriots and he is their lead wide receiver coming off of that that knee surgery. Uh but earlier today his girlfriend Cardi B was on uh CBS and uh she had something to tell Gail King. My boyfriend, Stefan Digg. Congratulations.
Thank you. Congratulations. How are you feeling about that? And that this will be baby number four for you, Cardi. Congratulations.
Thank you. I'm actually very, I'm excited. I'm happy. Me and my man, we're very supportive of each other. We're like in, the same space in our careers.
But I can different, you know. By that, what do you mean by that same space? That you're both doing well? What do you mean? You know what it is?
that I feel like we're really great and one of the best at what we do. And me and him think the same way. Like, it's like, yeah, we're one of the greatest, but what's next? What are we doing again? We do it again.
We have to do it again all the time. It's not like we're like, we're never like comfortable. We just wanna keep doing it. And that's just how we both are.
Well, good luck to Stephon Diggs. Not about Cardi, but good luck to both of them. Good luck. But with the football stuff, I don't know. I think Cardi B has a little bit more upside in her career than Stephon Diggs.
I'm not too sure. She's going to be making millions of dollars for the next bunch of years. I mean, she's going on tour the minute that she has the kid. Hey, to each their own. Hey, good luck and congratulations.
