And a smart speaker. You got one of those? A Siri, an Alexa, a Google, or whatever, ask it to play. The Infinity Sports Network. Of course, NFL training camps are underway.
And we've talked about some of the stories that have evolved, at least today. To a tongue of a low is telling Tyreek Hill Yeah, man, you gotta do more than just say sorry, good first step, but uh You did that complaining after the season saying you wanted to leave, do better. We talked about Russell Wilson officially being named QB1 for the New York Giants. In Indianapolis we got a Well, we got a competition between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Daniel Jones is getting those first-team reps.
Anthony Richardson, damn it, he knows the writing is on the wall. And as we continue on with the show we got more to get into.
Okay, in a few minutes we'll talk about TJ Watt. This man just got a new contract. He's getting paid $41 million a year. He has some expectations in front of him. Shador Sanders, we had a caller ask about expectations for him this season and We're going to have a chat with Dan Wolken from USA Today in about 20 minutes to Take a look at what's going on at ACC and Big Ten Media Days.
And then, as I do every single Wednesday, In one hour from now. I'm going to share with you a new top six list. We got so many calls yesterday. about whether or not Philip Rivers is a Hall of Famer. I said, screw Philip Rivers.
Not in that sense, but forget him. I'm going to give you a top six list. Of the best quarterbacks, the top quarterbacks that the NFL has seen. in the last 25 years. Yeah, I think these are the best of the best.
Hey, if you want to be a part of the show, you can. Hey, you want to call me? Yeah, call me now. 888-888. 7-10.
4ISN is the number. That's 888. 710. For I S N If you use the internet Com complaining and arguing with strangers and robots. I'm there.
I'm at JR Sport Brief. At Jared Sport Brief on Instagram, at Jared Sport Brief on Facebook, on all of the things. not complaining with uh robots. Save my complaints are right here. on the air.
eight eight eight seven ten four I S N. That's eight eight eight seven ten four I S N. A lot of people complaining about some of the deals and contracts that haven't been done.
Now that NFL training camp's underway. Trey Hendrickson, I assume he's still in Florida. Look at Micah Parsons. He's at work in Oxnard, California with the Cowboys. He's not happy.
The fact that he doesn't have a contract. We got Shamar Stewart, also of the Cincinnati Bengals, doesn't have a deal. We have Terry McLaurin. The commanders hasn't shown up to work. He's getting fined $50,000 a day, just like Trey Hendrickson for not being at work.
But one guy who did get paid Not a care or issue in the world related to his finances. When you're JJ Watts' brother, I don't think you you would be worried about cash. It's TJ Watt. He just got paid at thirty years old a three year, one hundred twenty three million dollar extension. He is now getting forty one million dollars a year.
He is now making more money than anybody in the NFL. That's not a quarterback. But we know with the Steelers, it's kind of the same old, same old. People expect the Steelers to be good. But not good enough to win a championship.
They expect Mike Tomlin and the crew to have a record higher and above 500. But to be eliminated. in the first round. In the case of TJ Watt, This man has been to the playoffs four times. He has Zero.
wins. T J Watt It's one of the best defenders that we've seen in the league. TJ Watt. Is out there getting a quarterback. And he's not getting just the quarterback.
He's also out there getting the ball. He's one of the best dudes to just sack strip a guy and take the ball away. that we've probably ever seen. And so, yeah, he got his money. No drama with the Steelers.
They'll leave all the drama to Aaron Rodgers whenever he decides to, you know, chip in with some. And so T J Watt, As it stands today, he hears what people say. Hey, we're paying you all this money. But You've never won a playoff game. Hey, hey, TJ Watt.
You're getting paid all this cash, but in four playoff games in the early rounds. You only have six tackles. In one sack? Yeah, good for you getting, I don't know, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 plus sacks. Good for you doing that.
Can you do that? In the postseason, can you help us win a game? TJ Wadde isn't stupid. He sat down with Graham Bessinger. And he hears the noise.
He says, I have a playoff record of 0 and 4. It sucks And it motivates me. Listen to this. Winning a playoff game is absolutely motivating me. It's something that we haven't been able to do since I've been there.
I think that's absolutely unacceptable. And that is what's attached to my name right now. I have to answer for that. As much as it sucks when you say TJ Watt XYZ, you also say TJ Watt, not want a playoff game. And um Does that that genuinely bothers you?
Oh, it genuinely bothers me because I'm a part of those teams. As much as I'm only one player, as much as whoever's one player, like you are putting your hand in the pile, too. I feel like I can make a difference enough to help win a playoff game. to have that to your legacy, especially when you play for an organization that has six Super Bowls and has when me and Joe Green comes back, it's me and Joe Green two-time defensive player of the year. I don't even know how many Super Bowls he's won.
You know, Jerome Battis. one or two times Super Bowl champion like it's like TJ White. Yeah, great individual player, but what's the team's success? He can think about his own personal accomplishments, a defensive player of the year. Multiple-time Pro Bowler and the highest paid guy in the NFL that's not.
A quarterback. How many Super Bowls does he have? None. Zero. How many playoff victories does he have?
None. Uh zero. You mentioned me and Joe Green? You want four. Super Bowl championships.
Like, this is what happens when you play. for a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like the expectations are gonna go through the roof. and if he should be lucky, They'll get one or two. Playoff victories.
And I don't even think it's so much about. him not having a Super Bowl. I think it's more about you played in four games. Four playoff games. and UTJY, the guy now making forty one million dollars a year.
You only have one. Sack. If you had four sacks in four playoff games, if you had five sacks in four playoff games, people would give you a break. You gotta do better. I mean, every now and then you can get some bad luck.
Let's see if you can do some damage. I believe the Pittsburgh Steelers will go to the poll season. I think they will get in as a wildcard. And I think they'll be eliminated. And for TJ Watt's sake, I hope he gets more than I.
Just one sack. Let's see what he does. Things are kind of quiet.
So far on the Pittsburgh Steelers front. Let's wait until Aaron Rodgers does a little bit more. Talking. Training camp. is underway.
And speaking of a team in the AFC North, You know, we had a caller who asked about Shador Sanders. And whether or not he's kinda delusional to think, whether or not we'll see Shaddor this year. And I've been saying this since the guy was drafted in the fifth round by the Browns. Since he fell to the fifth round, and the Browns decided to take him after they selected Dylan Gabriel. Shador Sanders is going to get his chance.
These Browns, unlike the Steelers, what are the expectations for them? Nothing. Joe Flacco is forty. Dylan Gabriel is twenty four. Deshaun Watson is hurt.
Kenny Pickett is average. And Tradora Sanders is someone who has he has talent. I'm not saying that Dylan Gabriel doesn't have talent, but there were conversations about Chador getting selected in the first round. First quarterback off the board, not named, Cam Ward. That didn't happen.
Shador is going to get his chance. He's going to get his opportunity. Is it coming in weak? Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, he's gonna get his chance. This is like It's like going to the uh the amusement park.
Bonsha, do you like amusement parks? I love them. for like the first few hours and then I get exhausted. You know the game at the amusement park where you I think it's a ball and you gotta knock the clowns over? Oh, those those are fun.
Especially in Buster's one. It's the clown with the, you know, with the furry head. You got the clown here on? Yeah, I know what that is. Yeah.
That's basically the Cleveland Browns season when it comes down to quarterbacks. They got like five of these things. And it's like every time one goes down, There's there's another one to knock over. And so Shador Sanders will get his chance. When Joe Flacco gets knocked over, And Kenny Pickett gets knocked over.
And then I think he he might get first crack in front of Dylan Gabriel depending on how they look in practice. Because you you gotta have all of these guys, quote unquote, earn it. I don't know if the Cleveland Browns are going for a record this year. They might have the most starting quarterbacks to take the field. In NFL history, they are going for broke, and you might as well see what you got in Shador Sanders.
Why enter into a circus for an additional year? You want to see what he has. All of these quarterbacks are going to get a chance. And it is absolutely hilarious. You know, Miles Garrett spoke to the media today.
And he's like, yeah. I want to win Defensive Player of the Year again. And I want to win the Super Bowl. That's the goal. Man, you weren't saying that crap when you were asking off the team.
Ain't nobody looking at him like they looked at Tyreek Hill. You decided to leave until they said, shut up, here's $40 million. He's like, okay, thank you. Stop that nonsense. Hey, listen to the head coach of the Browns.
Kevin Stefanski? This is what he had to say about the Browns in there. Quarterback competition? All things Depth Shard, certainly quarterback. I have a plan that's in pencil and you know we have to take in information every single day, take in how guys are handling certain situations and then adjust from there.
But we'll get to those type of decisions later on. But is it possible that maybe the decision could linger all the way up until like maybe the week one? Until inactives come out on week one, you're saying? Listen, I think the big thing for me is putting our guys in position where we can evaluate them. I think they did a great job in the spring.
All four of those guys will continue to put them in some situations, but ultimately we'd love to make a decision sooner than later. It is hilarious how he says, I I'm I'm making my decisions and I have my thoughts and I have it all down in pencil right now.
Well, man, throughout the course of my life, I've seen some good pencils with some good erasers. I have seen some pencils Well you turn that eraser over and it just rips up the paper.
Okay, I've seen some bad erasers. And if I'm looking at the Browns and their entire situation, There is nothing with the Browns. But a dirty eraser. Hey, Botch, you know what I'm talking about, right? That rubber ass eraser.
You think you're getting ready to clean something up pretty easy, and the next thing you know, you've torn through the whole paper. And and/or stained the paper. It sucks. Oh. It's terrible.
That's the Browns. Nothing is clean about the Browns. Did you see them unveil their new they're wearing this brown helmet today, did you see that? See, I saw the which one because there was one on McAfee, and then there was one I saw on social media where a guy fell in the ocean. That one.
Okay. The browns unveiled.
Well yeah, the lake. The Browns unveiled a new helmet that they're going to wear. Who cares? It's the Browns, it's a helmet. Whoopty freaking do?
But they decided to unveil this giant inflatable helmet On a barge. And it's like, oh, nice, let's do something new. Instead of putting a post on social media, Let's inflate a helmet. and showcase it on a barge. And as Bacher said, in the most Brown's Way.
It looked like it was a photographer, right? It was definitely someone with the social media team because they were filming on the little barge and then they they just got distracted. Oh my god. Yeah, and they fell right into the water. And then the next thing you know, you saw somebody throw a life raft.
And it's just like, oh, of course. The Browns are trying to celebrate something, a Brown helmet, of all things. what thee freaking do. And a guy falls in, or a woman falls into the water. Not what anybody wants to see here.
The Browns can't win. for anything. Nothing. Have fun with the quarterback competition. I'm going to be paying attention to the Browns.
Every Sunday. Just to see who's starting or who's falling out of the game. As simple as that. No other reason to to tune in. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N is the number.
We're going to take a break. We come back. You know, speaking of Shador, this man just came out of college. I wanna I wanna talk some college ball. We still have ACC media days going on.
We got Big Ten Media Days going on. We got. players beefing with teams. We got coaches beefing with programs. We got commissioners beefing with playoff proposals.
We got guys who have gone on to the NFL leaving big, massive holes in the college landscape. Like what's happening at Ohio State, who's their next quarterback gonna be? I mean, Penn State, they still have their quarterback and Drew Aller. What the heck is going to happen with them? We got so many questions.
We're going to have a chat with Dan Wolken on the other side of the break, covers all things college football. For USA Today. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief Show. on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.
It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast. on the Infinity Sports Network. NFL training camps are underway. We've had media days this week. With the ACC, the Big Ten.
The Big Ten is running around winning national championships. The ACC is like, hey, don't forget about us. We're here too to talk about what we've heard and. Just a lot and SEC and talk talk about all things college football. Is a national columnist who covers college football for USA Today.
Right now, we're being joined by Dan Walkin. Dan, thank you for the time, appreciate it. What's going on? Hey, taking it easy, just trying to soak in everything that we've heard this week and And I'm really looking forward to football on the field. But What Outside of the college football playoff and what everybody wants it to be, whether it's a your mark or any of the other commissioners.
What has captured your attention the most over the past two weeks? Yeah, I mean, look, there's a lot going on in college sports right now, and it's the playoff stuff. It's What's going on with NIL? And the house. versus NCAA settlement.
and how all of that is going to be litigated. Um Obviously the season's about to start and that's exciting. But honestly, in college sports right now, The action is really more off the field than on the field.
So, in some ways, it's interesting. You have these media days, and people. you know, want to talk up their teams and they want to talk about players, but that just takes a back seat to all of the political stuff that's going on within college sports. When you think about what the playoff might look like, that's probably the largest political issue. At what point do you think things will change and or expand?
What's going on right now is that. There's no deal on the format starting in 2026. And The Big Ten and the SEC are the two conferences that Okay. Determine that, but right now. There are nods.
The SEC wants a model of a 16-team playoff. Five automatic conference champions. and 11 at-large teams and the big 10 is advocating for this more convoluted Four automatic bids for the Big Ten and the SEC, two each for the ACC and the Big Twelve. And then Basically, you know, one for the small conferences, and the rest would be at large teams. And There's a lot of Contentiousness actually between the SEC and the Big Ten about which model is going to win out.
And what's interesting is if they can't come to an agreement, on it then it just defaults back to the current 12 team model And I would argue. That's a better model anyway. The playoff does not really need to expand. There's no compelling reason. to make it 14 teams or 16 teams or whatever.
We only had one year of the 12-team playoff. We're going to have Again, this year, 12 teams. Give it some time to Settle in to work. To see what really looks like over the long haul. It was fine.
I think we all know that there's no team ranked 14 through 16. that has any chance of winning a national championship. And so a lot of this argument is is honestly for for very little reason. Dan Wilkin is joining us from USA today. We know it's all about the cash, all about the money.
If we got to think about the team that just won a national championship with the Ohio State University, we know that Will Howard is gone. Is Julian Stan in the league to be the next QB up? What are they going to look like this upcoming season? And will they give Ryan Day a break?
Well, the second part, no, they're not going to give Brian Day a break. I mean, yes, he won a national title. And they're happy about that. But if they lose to Michigan this year, For a fifth straight time, it's going to be tough. Look, I don't know what Ohio State is going to look like.
I don't know what any of these teams are going to look like. You're dealing with.
So many new players, so much transfer portal. Um these rosters get turned over.
So much every year. What I do know about Ohio State is they have a young man named Jeremiah Smith, and he's probably the best player in college football. And he's going to be there two more years. And You know, I think as long as he's on the field offensively, Ohio State's probably going to function pretty well. They can function well.
May not be a favorite to go back there and win a championship. Does this allow a team like Penn State to go ahead and take another step forward? They at least keep their quarterback. And Aller and then also James Franklin. Yeah, I mean, you look at what Penn State did last year.
I think that was a bit of a breakthrough for them. to make the playoff and they played a very good game. in in the semifinal uh you know coming up just short Um look, I think Penn State, to me, uh is probably the favorite maybe not by a lot but but marginally the favorite. in the big ten we'll see how that works out But defensively last year, they were very, very good. Um And I think they've got a lot of talent on that side of the ball.
The offense was a little sticky at times. I mean, let's be real. about it and and Drew Aller. Uh certainly you know, especially when they in that playoff game they lost to Notre Dame. Mai made a pretty key mistake that Uh was the difference in that game.
I don't necessarily love him or or fully trust him. But again, these are college guys and they grow from year to year and and certainly within their own possibility. that he's going to come back. this year as a as a much better player Um because that's what young guys do. Um I like Penn State's team.
I I've got them picked to win the Big Ten and to um reach the national championship game. But as always, we'll see. Dan Wolken is here with us from USA Today. You're talking about a Will C. And and speaking of things off the field.
Michigan is still a little bit of a mess. What can we expect from them? Sharon Moore is going to get more or less of a punishment. Are they done with the punishments? Is it going to take another five to ten years?
What's going on with Michigan? Yeah, obviously that's hanging out there a bit. What happens with their NCAA? Case. I don't know how that's going to go.
NCAA enforcement, especially these days, It's uh You know, I don't think you can expect anybody to get hammered. uh by penalties but Shron Moore may you know I think he's going to probably miss some games. We'll see, but. The way they played at the end of last season, beating Ohio State and really kind of turning around.
Well it had been kind of a dud of a year. I'm sure that makes their people feel pretty good going into 2025 that they do have momentum. that they did figure some things out. But you know, I'm not going to sit here and make any grand predictions because The truth is for most of last season, Michigan was was pretty mediocre. Yeah, very mediocre expect the same thing.
Of this year, I want to flip over to the ACC. We saw Carson back in his Nice green jacket and his big chain. I'm Sure, he maybe he he he rode a Lamborghini all the way out west. What can we expect from Carson Beck now being in Miami? Is he going to rebuild his draft stock or is this just a money grab?
Well, it could be a little bit of both. Look, Last year didn't go the way that anybody expected for Carson Beck? Um but at the same time when you saw way George's offensive line played in that game against Notre Dame. There were a lot of holes there. And so maybe...
That had something to do with it as well. Um, that's the beauty of football, right? It's not just one guy, it's it's kind of the entire team dynamic and Georgia's Offensive line was pretty disappointing, and maybe Carson Beck is going to be better moving into a new system, new style, new conference. Miami, though, does have a lot to prove. Uh they were good last year with Cam Ward at quarterback.
Uh they lost the game that mattered at the end of the year that kept them out of the playoff. And it's been a pretty constant theme with Mario Crystal Ball. Who is one of the best coaches in the country Monday through Friday, but on Saturday, often leaves a lot to be desired. And That's tough when you're trying to build enough of a resume to get into the college football playoff. and to have a chance to win a national title, you can't lose games.
That you're supposed to win, and they lose, it seems like a couple of them every year. And so You know, I I think Carson Beck's a good quarterback. I'm not sure he's going to be as good as Cam Ward was. They've got a lot of talent at Miami. The ACC is there for the taking.
Again, we'll see how it goes. Yeah, good luck to them on that one. Speaking of teams down in Florida, we got the Seminoles, and they have an interesting coach as well in Mike Norvell. They also brought in a new quarterback from Boston College and Castellanos, who's He's over here talking smack to Alabama right out of the gate. When it comes down to the Florida schools, it seemed like they all disappointed last year.
Is FSU going to turn around? Are the Gators on an upward trajectory? What are your thoughts there? Yeah, we'll starting with Florida. They looked dead in the water last year.
You know, midway through last season, I think a lot of people, including me, expected Billy Napier to be fired. They did show some signs of life. Napier kept his job. A DJ Lagway is A very interesting prospect.
So we'll see what he looks like with a little bit of experience under his belt and a summer of development. Florida's really an interesting team. Your guess is as good as mine. I mean, that was an epic disaster last year. Um My doorbell is I think is a good coach.
But they got very heavy in the transfer portal. worked really, really well for them. in 2023 it blew up in their face in 2024. This is a year they they need to show something. Because you lose the way Florida State lost last season.
That's just unacceptable. And they know that. And I'm as interested as anybody to see what they've got from a talent perspective. Uh what the vibe looks like. Together team.
That was a very disjointed situation, starting with the fact that. You know, DJ Ungulale. was was probably the wrong quarterback for them last year.
So this year You you get a clean slate. This is now more of a year-to-year sport than ever. I wouldn't be shocked if Florida State turns it around and is really good. I also wouldn't be shocked if. They're not very good and this is Norvell's last year there.
Yeah, they don't got a lot of patience down in uh in in Tallahassee. You talk about so much talent. That's moved around. We've seen so much talent move around. UCLA, Uy Mali Ava is now.
Out there after leaving Tennessee. What are some other players that we should really pay attention to this upcoming season? Obviously, we have Arch Manning. Yeah, I mean Look, right now, college football, I'm more interested in just sort of the overall picture here. There's a lot of interesting situations like Colorado, Deion Sanders.
He's spent most of the year or most of the offseason. Dealing with a health issue, you've got a team that uh doesn't have Travis Hunter, doesn't have Shadur Sanders. What have they got? You know, the Big Twelve was was sort of wide open. Um you know, Baylor, Arizona State.
I'm just fascinated because this is now such a year-to-year sport. It's so up and down. Um These rosters just dramatically change from from one year to the next. Uh I you know, we're going to be talking about guys. Three weeks into the season, that honestly we've never heard of.
That's just how it goes now. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see if there's ever any little bit more regulation. We've certainly stepped into the. The wild, wild west of college football. Dan, thank you so much for the time.
Please tell everybody where they can follow you and your work with USA Today. Uh USA Today dot com and at Dan Walkin on X. Thank you so much, Dan. We'll catch you on down the line, okay?
Sounds good? No doubt about it. It's the JR Sport Ree Show here with you, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You know, let's talk about a guy that Dan mentioned that's no longer on a college scene, Travis Hunter. Apparently, they have a little bit of a plan for him.
We'll see how long it goes that way down in Jacksonville. We'll get into that. Deion Sanders, also down in Florida. Not in Jacksonville, though. I will explain.
We know Deion has been dealing with some health issues.
So we'll talk about that at the top of the hour. I'll give you a new top six list. Or some of the best NFL quarterbacks, not some of, I will give you a list of the best. Quarterbacks in the last 25 years. But right now, it is time for a news flash.
Here he is, Rich Ackerman. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you so much to Dan Welcome for joining us. National College Football Columnist.
That was a lot of things too as well. for USA Today. Yeah, he he made a a big point at the end. Like there is so much turnover. year after year, On the college football scene.
It's dizzying. to keep up with where guys are going and where they're not It's tough, and you can throw out the window the whole repeat champion. I think. I don't want to say the last dominant champ that we had was Was probably the Bulldogs. And every year it's just.
It's like flipping a coin at this point in time.
So we'll see what happens. And he's right. It's probably going to go week to week. First couple of weeks into the next before we have a good idea of Know who's who, and then we won't even know who the impostors are. It'll take some time.
Thank you again to Dan. If you missed that conversation, go ahead and hit rewind. on the free Odyssey app. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN.
When we get to the top of the hour, I'm going to do what I do every. Every Wednesday, I'm going to bring you a new top six list. We got so many calls about Phillip Rivers last night. Is he a Hall of Famer? Is he not a Hall of Famer?
I'm going to give you. A top six list. of the best quarterbacks over the past twenty five years. He is a spoiler. Philip Rivers.
is not on that list.
Sorry. This is also a good time to let you know. That you should think. Riley auto parts for all of your car care needs, get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service. From the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
We've talked a lot of college ball and talked about a Shador at the top of this hour. And then it was mentioned about, you know, some of the other stars.
Well the Heisman Award winner is gone. His name is Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter is now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who traded up to go ahead and grab him out of Colorado. And of course, based on what he did, In Colorado, playing offense, playing defense, being one of the best wide receivers, being one of the best cornerbacks. The expectation in the NFL is kind of like, well, Where's he going to fit in the best?
Is he going to be more of an offensive player to start off? Is he going to be more of a defensive player? I mean, you can have all the stamina in the world. He's not a huge guy. He's slight.
He's small. He's thin. and even gaining a a couple pounds of muscle. He's gonna be thin. Throughout the course of his career, I don't think he's gonna just wake up one day.
and be jacked. and so there is a concern about his durability. How is this going to transfer over into the pros? 'Cause you cannot play every down on offense and defense. They will have this dude.
hooked into a hospital bed. If he has to do that. And so we know Jacksonville, they have a brand new head coach and Liam Cohen. And at this I guess they learned a thing or two. About what to do with them, even as it relates to practice.
Listen to what Liam Cohen had to say about how they plan to work things out with Hunter. One offense and defense. Yeah, he will. Probably within the first six practices or so. Like, we'll probably have him, you know, you want to give them a couple days offense, couple days defense, and then give them an opportunity to go flip-flop within the same practice.
And then that will kind of become the norm, right? Like, once we do that, that'll kind of become the norm and how we operate, but it'll probably be within the first week or so.
Now I spoke to a buddy of mine in the NFL. He's a Hall of Famer. And I had a conversation with him because he did a little bit of this too, playing a little bit of offense, playing a little bit of defense. And I said, Well, if you look at Jacksonville, which way do you think this is going to get weighed? And he pretty much said he thinks it's going to get weighed towards the offense.
And after listening, I agreed because. When you think about Trevor Lawrence and and kind of the expectations bestowed upon him from even coming out of here in Georgia, right outside of Atlanta and Cartersville. going to Clemson, bein' the number one overall pick. Trevor Lawrence is supposed to be That guy. He's supposed to be one of the the top quarterbacks in the game right now.
having led the the Jaguars out of mediocrity, And we know it's not all his fault. But he hasn't necessarily been the best. him damnself. And so if you're in a wait and see, And you got Liam Cohen here in his first year. You got a first-year general manager as well.
you're expecting some things to start moving and shaking. this upcoming season.
So I think we will see Travis Hunter out there primarily As an offensive weapon? Just because they need the most important player on the team, that's Trevor Lawrence. to just take his game. to another level. That's what they need.
They brought in a former teammate, and they have Travis Etienne. They have Brian Thomas Jr., who they drafted. Travis Hunter. is going to be needed more on that offense. then he's gonna be needed.
On the defense, and I think that's the way we'll see him out there. And I also think, all things considered. That that may keep him a little fresher. Like you playing defense. You don't know what the hell or who you have to chase after.
And I think the way the NFL is situated right now, he's not going to be out there running the slot. Running down the middle, getting popped to high hell. He's going to be out there running routes. going deep, trying to catch bombs.
So even when he is pulled down, I think the Jacksonville Jaguars will be wise to try to avoid Setting him up for major hits that's going to knock him. into next week. And so at least we got a little bit more clarity As to how they want to use them. Yeah. They're trying to keep balance, but it's going to be a learning exercise.
For everybody. We spoke about Shador. We talked about Travis. Oh, that's right. There's another guy who went to Colorado.
People aren't talking about him. It's Dion's son. Shiloh. Yeah, he didn't get drafted into the NFL this past offseason. He had to sign a free agent contract with the Buccaneers to try to stick on the team as a corner.
And today Dion paid him A visit? Yeah, Dion was down in Florida. checking in with the Buccaneers just so he could visit. his son. It it was kinda odd because you might recall, It was months ago that Dion said that he's dealing with a health issue.
Just last week, two weeks ago, Dion basically said At Big 12 Media Day, he's like, I don't want to talk about my health, I'm here to talk about football. And then even a couple of days ago. He was on a podcast show, well off media, speaking to one of his daughters. And then he was getting into like an ice bath and he's just like M my health isn't great. I'm still going through some things.
Listen. You know I'm still going through something and I ain't always recovered. I'm sure you ain't skipping. I did this for a little. I didn't get my body back right.
Ah! Mine you can eat. Hold on. You know, for a guy who doesn't want to talk about his health. He he's doing he's doing it in a Okay.
Very interesting manner. Like a very public man, then just go focusing on your health and coach the football team. Like, do we really need, you know, Dion documentaries and Dion shows and? It's just, it's too much. I can understand why people go, then, man, just shut up then.
Like tell everybody what it is or just don't talk about it at all. Like, why put so much of your life public, but then just go, hey, I don't want to do this. And he's well within his right to talk about any of his. you know, health issues, that is certainly all of his business. but you still kinda tee it up to the public.
Look, whatever whatever garners interests. and uh makes money. I guess. Todd Bowles. the always a miserable Head coach.
For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hey, former defensive back himself, not like Deion. He was asked about Deion showing up to practice to see his son Shiloh. And uh listen to listen to the question and Todd's response. What was it like having uh Deion Sanders here at practice today?
It's a normal day for me, as far as I'm concerned. It's a father coming to see his son, like all of us would be doing. Yep.
Okay. Todd Bowles. Is he is like capt. He's not, he's not captain miserable. Like Bill Belichick was.
You just know if you ask Todd Bowles a question. He's going to give you the most miserable answer. But I'll tell you this. He's not a miserable guy. But, and he's also not like Belichick.
He's not acting. He's just, he's. He's like, I don't want to talk to y'all. Just let's just get to some football. I don't between him and Sean Payton, I think, at this time.
They're probably the most miserable coaches in the NFL. Botrom, I'm missing another miserable guy right now. Uh train stiking's pretty miserable. Oh, he's a loser. What has he accomplished?
Oh, nothing. That's why he's so miserable. Yeah. You you would think you'd uh accomplish something. Yeah.
Shane Steichen just got he has he's already miserable. What a guy. I guess when you have to look at Anthony Richardson try to throw a football, I I guess I'd be miserable too. Anyway. It's the J.R.
