It is. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Many thanks and much love to everybody tuned in all over North America. Fifteen minutes from me.

The National League is beating the American League Two to nothing. and the bottom of the second. Shohayotani's at the plate against Rodon with two outs. Otani already has a run scored, he already has a single. And yeah, wha why not showhey Otani uh?

You know, hit a home run or something against Rodan. That would seemingly be very appropriate. And we'll keep you up to date on the all-star game as it continues on. And we've had a full show. Thank you so much to our guest early on.

Kyle Glazer. for joining us from Foul Territory Network. We talked about the home run derby from last night, Cal Raleigh, walking away the winner. We talked about Sauce Gardner of the New York Jets, now the highest paid cornerback in NFL history. Four years, $120 million.

Trey Smith. Interior Guard for the Kansas City Chiefs. He gets paid four years $94 million. Terry McLaurin wants to get paid by Washington. He's like, everybody's getting paid.

What about me? Kirby Smart says the college football players have making so much money now they don't work as hard. What a shock. We talked about robotic umpires. Or the uh automatic ball strike challenge system.

that will be on display tonight, possibly. During the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, we talked about LeBron at Summer League, checking out his son Bronnie. Man, we just heard from Shaquille O'Neal. He said if Robert Griffin does not shut up about Angel Reese. He's goin' punch em in the face.

Warning shot. RG3 hasn't responded to that now, has he?

Okay. We have so much more to get into as the show continues on. You want to be a part of it? You can. Here's the number 8887104ISN.

That's 888-710. for ISN. A big shout out to all the Uber drivers. the lift drivers, The people protecting people, watching people, serving people, helping people. Cooking for people, cleaning, whatever you might be doing.

Thank you for being here.

Okay? We have so much to do. Time flies when you're havin' fun. Let's get to the phones. Let's talk to Lou.

Lou is here from Rochester. You on the JR Sport Reshow Lewitza. Hey, GR, great to talk to you again, man. Long time.

Well, thank you for being here. Yeah. That Stock Gargo contract is like insane. Like 30 million a year. That dude's getting.

Yeah. you're gonna be cut in two years, not appreciably better than most cornerbacks in the league. You can I The guy in Buffalo And sir. Was heard? Yeah.

The guy in Buffalo Benford designed for like eighteen or twenty million a year. is far better than Zos Gardner.

Now, I don't know if I want to go that far, Lou. I mean, if you think about market rate. if you think about market rate, you got Derek Stingley making thirty mil. JC Horn down with the Panthers is making 25. Jalen Ramsey's at 24.

And Pat Sertan is currently at 24 as well. And so, is it a little bit of an overpay because of the market? I would say so. But outside of last year, and thank you, Lou, for calling from Rochester, Sauce Gardner has been one of the best corners in the league. and he has talked about openly if there's one thing that he wants to do is to go out there and pick up some more You know, force some more turnovers.

Last year and throughout the course of his career, since he was drafted in 2022. I don't think he has more than five interceptions total. I mean, just last season, he had one interception, and last year was a bad year. and it's tough bein' a corner. I don't think anybody has ever woken up and just said, Hey, you know what I got?

I got for you, you know, eighty tackles as a cornerback and then I'm I've I've snatched or intercepted five to ten INT's every single season. It it just doesn't happen that way. This is going to be a real big season for Sauce Gardner. I mean, he has openly talked about getting bigger and faster and stronger. And I think as he physically matures, I think we're in store for a better cornerback.

Sauce Gardner. I ca I don't think he's older than twenty three years old. After maybe not he's got to be older than that at this point. Been in the league for three or four years. Let's see how old this sauce gardener.

Gotta be. Don't really own older than twenty six, Matt he's twenty-four He's 25 next month, so. He's a baby.

Now matter of fact, let's listen to Sauce Gartner. He was on with Pat McAfee just a couple of weeks ago. And he was telling everybody how he's improved physically. Listen to this. Man, I'm not gonna lie, like, this offseason has been, like, by far my best offseason I've been, like, I just left LA from training with my trainer Akil.

Like I just feel, I feel great. You know, I'm sitting about 200 pounds right now, and I don't think I've ever really played. that heavy, but it's like the more weight that I done put on, the more muscle, like the more explosive and the faster I become. Less than. I think he'll be fine.

And if he doesn't, he's going to be eaten up. Alive by the press. He's going to be eaten alive by the media in New York City. Like, we have tons of great corners. I couldn't tell you, if you had it, if you asked me, I know Sertan just won Defensive Player of the Year.

Based on what we saw last season, I'd say he's the best corner in the NFL right now. But Sauce Gardner, he's going to get paid like he's the best. This man is the first dude to go over. thirty million dollars. He's making a smidge more than Stingley is down in Houston.

888 710 FYSN. Joe is here from Pennsylvania. You're on the JR Sportry Show. Joe, what's up? Here you are.

Hey, what's up? You're live on the radio. Shoot. Hope hope you're well. Hey.

Look, I'm really tired of all this racial controversy. Between Caitlin Clark And angel read. I don't think it has anything to do with race. but people, for whatever reason, are trying to put that spin on it. And not to mention, We're all descended from primate.

We're all descendants from monkeys. I mean Your data.

Well, let me respond to both things that you just said, Joe.

So I agree with the first part of what you said. I think it's a matter of basketball and has been between Caitlin Clark and Andrew Reefs. But I think naturally, when you live in the world that we live in, that people have and will always fan the flames of race. And so that is not something surprising. That doesn't mean that it's right because it's not by any stretch of the imagination, which is why RG3 sharing his post and his message last week.

Just out of nowhere. And amplifying such a message, and then putting in a message towards Angel Reese, I found to be absolutely ridiculous. And then the second part of what you said. To say that we are all descendants of primates, whether you're black, white, purple, pink, yellow, green, and in between, you know, there are people who do not believe that. That's not what I'm going to debate with you here today.

But what I will say to you to this, as it relates to modern history. Being an ape or a monkey. Is something that is more closely associated as being a racial trope of black people. And so, regardless of what do you think our origins are, to utilize an ape or a monkey to disparage someone has been something that's been. put more towards black people than anybody else.

Understood. Absolutely understood. But I think RG three's comments were off base. Agree. made more sense to me.

I agree. But I just don't know where we're where was RG3 coming from? What was your intention? I think his intention was to be a jackass, of which I what I said. And listen, he can have a very nice conversation with Shaquille O'Neal in his face if he wants to.

There was no reason, and thank you so much, Joe, for calling from Pennsylvania. There was no reason. for R G three to share his post. He had to think that out, It took him a while to sit down and write it. Uh he saw something, he saw an opportunity and he took it.

That's it. And let me tell you, there's only been so many times before you put your foot in your mouth where people start going, yo, all right, man, shut up. Like, Rob Parker got in trouble years ago for calling him a cornball brother.

Okay, Ryan Clark. he didn't necessarily get in trouble. But I think he took it a step too far. By invoking his wife.

Well, what do you know about being black or the experience of anybody black? You don't even have a black woman in your household. Like and then he apologized for it. And then RG3 comes out and says something like this, which made a lot of people kind of turn their heads and just go, Yo, why is this dude saying this? Like if y'all were beefing a month ago.

Well, you and Angel Reese or if you had some comments, why are you now sharing and spreading this message? and then putting something else on top of it. I mean, i there comes a point in time where you just become the guy standing on the street corner yelling nonsense every day and people just ignore you. And so I think the warning shot has been fired. At least Shaquille O'Neill has told him: hey, man, just knock it out.

Andrew Reese told him directly, and he Hey, knock it out. And I think there have been plenty of times where Angel Reese has said things or hasn't helped her own cause, but. You know, R G three just took it to another space. that I think was completely On Necessary 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-487.

4ISN. This baseball all-star game is still rolling around. We're in the bottom of the third. National League leads. It suited nothing.

Let's see if this continues on. And and speaking of Angel Reese, since uh R G three believes or has been told that Caitlin Clark hates her so much, uh she's gonna have more reason to hate her. Because we know the all-star game is going to take place this weekend in Indianapolis, mind you, home of Caitlin Clark. Kaitlyn Clark is going to be in a three-point contest. She's going to be out there with Sabrina UNESCO.

Who took on Steph Curry in the NBA's three-point contest, not this season, but the year before that. They got a couple other players who were in it: Sonia Citrone. Kelsey Plum, and Alicia Gray. I think Alicia Gray knocked down like nine threes in the game. A couple of weeks ago.

And so, yeah, this is. This is good. Caitlin Clark last year was just like, leave me alone, let me relax. This year, She's going to be doing it big time. This is the report that we got from ESPN, Alexa.

Filopo. I mean, it has to start with Caitlin Clark, right? This is the most anticipated. Debut for a player having it in a three-point contest that we've seen probably in quite some time. Of course, she has not shot particularly well so far this season, in large part probably due to those injuries that she's been dealing with.

But we know that she really cared for her first three-point contest to be in front of those Indie Home fans. She will be able to do that.

So I think that was a huge win for fans when they saw that in the announcement. Yeah, there's gonna be folks who are rooting for Caitlin Clark to Shoot the lights out. And there's gonna be a lot of people that are gonna root for her to just stink the join up. and so I think she's handled a lot of the pressure thrown her way. w with really uh without too much of a hitch.

And so I think that she'll probably have a good performance on uh on Saturday. As the WMBA has its uh three point A shooting contest. Bacha, the last time I watched the WNBA three-point shooting contest was. Never. Never.

I have neither, so no one don't blame you. Yeah. Oh, but here how about this? The All-Star game is Saturday night. The three point contest is Friday night.

And so I um uh Yeah, maybe th this year will maybe possibly be the first year that I watch. I'll wait to see when Caitlin Clark is shooting and Sabrina UNESCO. and I watched the two of them in, um Whatever happens after that I'll just Probably ignore. It seems like they only have two things, though.

So they have the skills competition. And then a three point contest and that's all they're doing? No, I mean, there has to be more than that, right? There has to be multiple things involved, right? No?

I'd hope so, because if you have a two event Night? That'd be crazy. Why why don't they just call it Caitlin Clark Night in Indianapolis? They probably could. It's gonna sell a lot anyway 'cause she's gonna be there.

What else do you what what what else do you expect? Um I don't know, maybe I feel like they would be the type of league that tries the one-on-one tournament. that the NBA has been yelled at to try. They would be out there just uh No, they didn't. They hate each other more.

You know what? You bring up a great point. The WNBA Key is Skills Challenge Three-point contest. That's it? Are you kidding me?

What? Nah, botcha, there has to be more, right? I this is a lot of writing for a lot of nothing I'm reading. Yeah, I'm looking at the WNBA's website right now. That's what I'm looking at, too.

I I guess it's a Fanfests maybe they'll Try to do it. I mean, does it. Oh, wow.

Well, we can contact the PR people here at the bottom, huh? No, let's not do that. Um. Yeah, that's it. You're right.

It's just going to be a three point contest in the skills competition.

Well, I mean, on television, this is going to play for two hours. I assume they're going to have performances and music inside the arena so at least everybody there can get their money's worth, I guess, right? Yeah, but it If they actually They gotta think of something that's different. To like grow this and ask people actually going to watch it. They're not going to have a slam dunk contest.

Well, I know that, but. There there has to be any other type of event That they could try. Like, they couldn't even try to muster up a a celebrity game. Oh, or like female influencers or something like that. You're right.

You're right. You're right. That takes time. That takes time. A celebrity game is going to take 90 minutes by itself.

You could do like a a one half, it doesn't throw your whole game. Nah, nah, you ain't getting people shows to do that. No, they they'd have to have their own skills. Maybe they'd have a celebrity influencer shooting contest. along with this.

I don't know, but Yeah, Caitlin Clark is going to be shooting threes on on Friday night. And between her and Sabrina, that'll be what a lot of people watch. I may only have to watch it online just to. Kind of keep it moving. We'll see what happens.

888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. It is the end of the third inning. The National League leads the American League 2-0. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side.

I do want to bring up a point that was made earlier. In the show by Kyle Glazer. And I asked him if it looks like we're going to be heading towards a work stoppage in Major League Baseball. And he said yes, You know, the CBA expires not at the end of this season, but at the end of next year. And so there's a real threat.

That by the time we get to the beginning of 2027, my apologies, I know, I don't want to think that far ahead either. But we we might be looking at Some games that go missing. Like we don't need another work stoppage in Major League Baseball. We'll see what happens. I want to talk about something that might be At the crux of the issue, we'll talk about that on the other side of the break.

Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. If you want to call me, 888-710-4ISN is the number. We'll be back on the other side. It's the JR Sport Reef Show, coast to coast, the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.

It is the J.R. Sport Re Show here with you coast to coast. On the infinity A sports network. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN.

I was about to say the American League is trying to get a little bit of a rally going here, but after getting two guys on base, rallying, and I think it was Guerrero Jr., Things are shut down right away. And so the National League still has a 2-0 lead over the American. League, and right now it's in the fourth inning.

So this game is. Oh, it's moving along. It's moving. Very swiftly. This game might be over by eleven.

Bacher, and not to say that a lot of people paid for this. And I guess if you go to an all-star game, you're paying for the experience. I'll be sittin' in the stands right now goin'. Did did I just sit down, didn't the game just get started? Like it it hasn't even been A full hour yet, like real time?

Like they first pitch was almost Almost exactly an hour ago. And they're about halfway through this game. That's the modern baseball experience now. It's just, you should expect two hours. Two hours and fifteen minutes maximum.

And To the fans that are there. I don't know if they're casual watchies of the game, but this is not normal, not nothing out of the out of the normal.

So when the game starts, you can't leave your seat. Yeah, you're paying for the pageantry and Oh, the national anthem and the entertainment, and you get to see all the players, so it's certainly worth it. for everybody who's there. But when it comes to the actual baseball, And who knows? I mean, this is an all-star game.

We could wake up in one inning, it's just like, here are four runs, here five runs, or it very well this might be the score. The rest of the way.

So, of course, we'll keep you up to date as long as we're here with this show. And, of course, throughout the course of the evening, throughout the night, I'm sure we'll, of course, you'll get the results of the All-Star game.

Now, one thing that we did discuss, it's one thing to celebrate baseball. on a day like tonight. And we had a great chat with Kyle Glazer from the Foul Territory Network earlier on in the show. And we talked about everything from. You know, who's in the all-star game, what we can expect, who's going to go on a run.

We looked at this season, we looked at the future, we looked at the collective bargaining agreement. And as I mentioned before, we went to break. One of the things that you have to absolutely pay attention to. is the fact that Major League Baseball is in the process by the time we get to next year, They can do it now if they wanted to. They have to negotiate the next collective bargaining agreement, between the owners and the players.

Now there have been so many stats and so many numbers that have come out. And even uh Tony Clark. who is the executive vice president of the Players' Association. He pretty much said. We representing the players do not want a salary cat.

in the game. We don't. If you have a salary cap, you can You have a salary floor. I think we all know that there's a major issue in baseball when it comes to the haves and the have nots. When you have the Mets, the Dodgers and Yankees who have payrolls at or above three hundred million dollars, And then you have teams like the Marlins, the A's, and the Rays.

who who don't even barely crack, Yeah. And so where where's the fairness in any of this? And so Rob Manfred, Yes, the commissioner of Major League Baseball he takes a look at at the ownership of some of these teams and what they spend and what they don't spend, specifically the Pirates.

Okay, Bob Nutting, who's like enemy number one outside of the Oakland Athletics, Bob Nutting always takes the approach of Well, I'll spend money. if the fans show up.

Well, the fans will show up if you put a good product on the field. And at times when the Pirates have been good, He still didn't spend money. And this is what Rob Manfred had to say specifically as it relates to the the Pittsburgh Pirates. The fact of the matter is Pittsburgh's a great sports town. It is a great sports town.

There are tons and tons of really passionate Pirates fans who remember when the Pirates were a great, great team year, year in, year out. And they just want to look at the system and say, we got a fair chance to win when you're sitting around in February looking at spring training and what the year is going to be like. And we need to deal with that issue. Oh, well, well, well, the only way you deal with that issue is if the other owners And it th I don't want to say this is like baseball welfare. But when you have teams that are going into the luxury tax and they do not care, a la the Dodgers, and then you have other teams that are basically recipients of of revenue sharing, then they prioritize making money over winning.

Because there's no salary floor, there's no salary cap, there's no middle ground on the spend. that they need to go out there and and and can be competitive about. And then you have other owners who just well, they say, Well, I'm not spending anything. and they want to nickel and dime everybody throughout the process. Rob Manfred continued on.

and he pretty much said That 10% of Major League Baseball players make seventy two percent of the money. Think about that. ten per cent of players Makes 72%. of the money. And that's not rocket science.

You think about these. $700 million, $400 million contracts, $300 million contracts, and then you have other guys who are on the minimum of. you know, making seven hundred and fifty K a year. And no, that's not something to cry poverty about. But in comparison, you walk into a locker room.

You got your stars. And you got a whole bunch of other guys on the back end. who are just scratching quote unquote by when you think about the economics. Are those players more replaceable or what have you? But one thing is for sure.

And for certain Major League Baseball Does not in any way shape or form the players. They don't want a cat. Because they don't want to limit the spending, well, at least the earning potential. From some of their stars.

So that's been made very, very clear. This is Major League Baseball Player Association Deputy Executive Bruce Meyer. This is what he had to say about implementing any type of salary cap by Rob Manfred. This is what he told Foul Territory. After the last CBA, they immediately formed this economic study committee.

which some people think was largely the salary cap study committee. But we'll see what they actually propose. You've been seeing a lot of talk, though, more than usual, from individual owners about things they would like to see in the next System.

So I think that's probably really the driving force behind it. And you know, it's a little ironic because we're they don't actually allow their owners to talk to us. I've run into owners at games and things, and when I introduce myself, they literally say, We're not allowed to talk to you. I think they get fined.

So, you know, again, that's a little ironic. Uh they're apparently afraid of their owners talking to us uh individually. Yeah, they want to have a lawyer do it. I I I I understand. They want to have a lawyer do it.

They want to have a lawyer go out there and just kind of chew everybody down. You can't have one idiot If I gotta look at like the NFL. Look at the has on. This man decided to give Desawn Watson, what, $230 million, $240 million guaranteed? The other owners looked at him and said, that guy's an idiot.

Like that guy's an idiot. Like we can't have any more of this. And so, yeah, I mean, to think that owners don't collude or to some degree try to figure out the economics that are in their best interest. I think you you'd be stupid. to think that that's not the case.

And so Major League Baseball, I think it suffers from a variety of issues. pay discrepancy amongst players.

Now we get to free agency. Everybody has to wait. I mean, we got guys like Alex Bregman who have to basically pull up into free agency. and before they get a decent contract. And in his case, he has like three option years.

He can opt out after every single season, so the owners don't want to pay. There is no salary cap. You got teams that actually want to go and spend money and teams that don't. What a shock that New York teams and Los Angeles teams. They're the ones who are the big spenders, but baseball has some issues.

I would also expect. A work stoppage by the time we get to 2027. I know this is a day for everybody to celebrate the game and be thrilled of what we have. Not too much to be optimistic about. When you think about the economics of the game, 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. Alan is here from Toronto. You're on the JR Sport Ree Show. What's up, Alan? I'm convinced that the way to go is Robo umpires.

You can see the look on some of these batters' faces when they disagree with the call umpire's calls. strikes. You know? With rural row umpires you wouldn't see that anymore. Because if they're programmed right, They are one hundred percent completely Foolproof.

and incapable of error. Would I be worried about them being Uh yeah brought in, not in the least, because, you know, that that's the way to go and I'm I'm In turbs, I got my f fingers crossed. You want to get rid of the human beings completely?

Well, I I'd like to look uh I like to see these batteries. Yeah. Quit quit looking at the umpires when they disappear. with the calls and some of them even lose their tempers too. Y tempers flare all the time, they wouldn't be flaring anymore with the robo umpires.

Yeah, well, I kind of like that. I like a little beef on a dining. I got no problem with that, but. We'll see.

Well, thank you, Alan. Appreciate you. I'd like to say. You don't What happened? Go ahead.

What what happened, Alan? Oh yes, okay. I'd like to say, don't you think Major League Baseball is hypocritical? They have six umpires for the all-star game in the postseason and during the regular season. They only have.

Four. You need six ump hires all the time because the a ball could be fair by inches or foul by inches when it crosses the foul by the ball. You just said we need more robots, but maybe we can uh we can move some of the umps around since we'll have a computer uh calling the games.

Well, not really, but. Maybe maybe you can propose that to Rob Manfred, okay, Alan? Yeah, okay, but don't you think they're hypocritical? Six umpires in the postseason and only four during the regular season? Wouldn't you wouldn't you say that every league in every regard is hypocritical?

Yeah, I guess they are. When there's politics involved, yes, there are. They are, I guess. That's that's every ev that's just about everybody and everything, Alan. Thank you for calling from Toronto, my man.

Yeah, always a pleasure to our keep up the good work. Oh, thank you so much. Shoutouts to Alan. He's like, isn't Major League Baseball isn't isn't the NFL hypocritical? Isn't the NBA hypocritical?

At the end of the day, they're worried about money, nothing else. 888-710-4ISN, we are going to take a break. We come back on the other side. Of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. But right now, we got a baseball game going on.

We got an all-star game going on. What else is going on today in the world of sports? It's time for a news flash here on the Infinity Sports Network. Here she is, Jen Williams. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.

Yeah, I'm not Robert Griffin the Third. Yeah, my own jerk. In in my own way. Thank you so much. 888-710-4ISN is the number.

That's 888 710 4ISN. That's the number, if you want to give me a holler, before we get ready to roll on out. This Major League Baseball All Star game here in Atlanta, Georgia, it is continuing to roll on. They're getting ready to enter into the bottom of the fifth. The National League leads the American League.

Two runs. to nothing. Botcher. If I was not here sitting in the studio, Having a chat with you, having a chat with people listening, wherever the hell they might be. I would have been on my couch, I'd have been falling asleep watching this.

Really? I feel like a lot of things are happening just very quickly. You know, it's not like a boring. type of game. It's more of like everything's just flyin' by.

I would have fallen asleep, If I were at the stadium I'd be havin' me a drink somewhere. And I'd be like, okay, what time is it? How can I beat the traffic? I'd be done. I'd be done.

I'm a little biased. Two Mets are in the game right now and a Mets p a Mets player pitch.

So I'm kinda distracted by the T V. Oh, well, Pete Alonzo and Mr. Lindor? Yeah, and then David Peterson pitched in inning too. Oh man, I see Lindor's gotten some work.

He's at the plate right now.

So uh Probably be his last at bat for the The evening? Let's see what he does. We gotta wait to see what he does. That's uh That would be predicting the future. But you know what?

It's the end of the show. It's not time for us to think about the future. But it's time for us to think about the past. Today is July 15th. The year is 2025, and it's time to take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history.

Shut up. Back, back, back! Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore. But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history.

See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything, and it was primitive and lousy, and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. July 15th, if we go back to the year 1921. Yeah, raise your hand if you remember.

Babe Ruth. he tied a Major League Baseball record. of one hundred and thirty eight. Career home runs, yeah. Babe Ruth ended his career with 714 home runs, so yeah, he was quite busy throughout the process.

Let's take a listen. Yeah, believe me, let's take a listen to Beirut. This is his play ball with Babe Ruth. He tells everybody how to hit a baseball. You know there's two kinds of hitters, a choke hitter and a swing hitter.

Our swing hitter generally gets the full length of the bat and swings right from the heels. where a choke hitter shortens his bat about three or four inches stands flat-footed and just pokes at the ball and not that full swing. No, damn it, you never thought that you'd get hitting tips, batting tips from Babe Ruth on the JR Sport Reshow.

Well, you did. July 15th, the year is 2008. Guess what? We had another Major League Baseball All-Star game. This was in the old.

Yankee Stadium. Final game there, matter of fact, final All-Star game. Justin Mourneau. This man Slid home. Just in time on a Michael Young sacrifice fly in the 15th inning.

Yeah, it took 15 damn innings for us to get this game over with. And American League won 4-2-3. Let's go back to 2008. This sack fly winning it. For the AL, this is courtesy of Fox.

Michael Young. Pops it up, right field, Corey Hart. Morno tags it third. Here we go, throw by Hart to the plate. And safe, this game is over.

Morno scores. Terry Francona exhales and the American League has won again and they will have home field advantage in the upcoming World Series. And there is nobody happier in this park than Terry Francona. Aren't you glad that they don't do that crap anymore?

Well, let's find a way to make the all-star game more interesting. This time it counts. No, it sucks. Got a bunch of guys who have nothing to do with the postseason helping to determine what happens in the postseason. Yeah, that makes it made no sense.

Thank God it's done. July 15th, 2010, Rory McElroy. He was 21. He wasn't as miserable as he is today. He tied a major championship record.

He shot a 9 under 63. In the opening round of the British Open. This was out in St. Andrews in Scotland. I want you to take a listen to this: courtesy of ABC.

Australia. Rory McElroy's eagle putt on the ninth hole sparked one of the great rounds in British Open history. The 21-year-old from Northern Ireland blitzed the back nine with six birdies. Seven under park, Rory McElroy. He finished with the lowest first round at a British Open, a nine under pass, 63, and a two-stroke lead.

He loves it. Oh, that's just unbelievable. Feels great. But, you know, as I said, it's only the start. It's only, you know, there's still 54 more holes to play.

Yeah, now he's approaching 40 and he's miserable. Oh, yeah, by the way, back in 2010, he didn't win. He finished third. Louis? Utuzin ended up winning.

And now we know Rory McElroy is almost 40 and miserable. July 15th, 2018. Oh, I remember this one. This was fun. France, it won its second World Cup.

It beat Croatia 4-2. And one of the stars? Killian. Young Mbappe. Listen to this courtesy, Afifa.

Twisting away from Mandukic. Running it for Silco. Here's Mbappe. Oh, my God! Teenage kicks!

The ultimate teenage kick! The boy with the world at his feet! The boy with the world at his feet. This man went to PSG, goes from PSG, he's at Real Madrid. He won a World Cup.

It's like he played with Messi, he played with Neymar, and. Man, he just played in the FIFA Club World Cup. After some food poisoning.

Alright. July 15th. Let's go back to 2019. Speaking of catches, we saw what Carol Raleigh did yesterday. Travis Darneau.

Used to play for the Mets. At this point in time he's with Tampa. He became the first player in baseball history. to hit three home runs while catching and batting leadoff That's the Rays beat the Yankees. five to four listen to darneau hit the third home run off of another all-star, tonight he's pitching for Boston.

A rolled dischamp. Here it comes. And Darneau hits one high in the air. Deep right field. Is it going to be enough?

Judge going back. And it is good. A three-run bomb from Travis Darneau. And the Rays are in front. Holy cow.

Yeah, congratulations to them. Oh, him. Him I should say. Let me stop being a jerk. And there you have it, folks.

Today is July 15th. The year is 2025. And those are a few things that took place this day. in sports. History Meanwhile, we got a catcher in Major League Baseball.

He's trying to hit more home runs than anybody ever. Salvador Perez has the the record at forty eight home runs for the entire season. Cal Raleigh, who just won the home run derby last night, he already has thirty eight on the season. And we we had this chat earlier with Kyle Glazer, And I asked him, Is this guy going to run out of gas? He's already played more than ninety games.

He's a catcher. He hit thirty eight home runs so far. I wouldn't be surprised if he only hit ten the rest of the way. Kyle said, Hey, you can't discount him for what he's already accomplished, which is a hundred percent correct. I mean, last year I think his his high was thirty four home runs.

This year he already has thirty eight. And uh let's see what he can do the rest of the way. You know, sign me up for another you know, Major League Baseball home run chase. The last time we really had one was when Aaron Judge was just annihilating The home run records already has the most home runs that we've ever seen in American League history at 62. Let's see if we get a home run chase.

Sign me up. That was that was a fun time, just tuning in and watching Judge. I I haven't anticipated anything like that since Maguire and Sulsa And that was just on a completely different level. There was no social media, there was no internet. you actually had to turn on the T V, you had to read the newspaper, you had to watch Sports Center.

just to see what was going on. Pretty cool at that time to also see You know, cut-ins. Didn't matter what game you were watching, where you were at, they were going to go ahead and put that on the television.

So, sign me up. Uh I I'm here for a home run chase. This game as it stands right now Botcher damn it, we've al we're already at the top of the sixth. It's real baseball. It's good baseball.

Say again? It's good fast baseball. What they're looking for. Nah, I want I want action. Maybe the American League will pop up with some action sooner than later.

How many substitutions have we is there anybody that was started the game that's still in it? Uh not that I know of. Uh I got to see who's playing for the AO, but Riley Green batting now started the game. Yeah. So the ale?

And it it looks like they're uh Looks like Peter Lonzo is mic'd up. It's everybody's favorite part of the game. watching players who are trying to concentrate I won the game and in the field, and I get it, it's an exhibition. It's one thing to have this in an exhibition. It drives me nuts when you're watching a real game.

that actually matters that actually counts. And you got these guys distracted. Because you've got somebody talking to them in their ear, and they get paid for it, so God bless them. But um, you know, we don't we don't need everybody mic'd up. at the the exact moment That they're out there working and trying to do their job.

It's just wild, but Hey, let's see what happens. By the time we show up tomorrow, of course, we'll have some results as to what took place in tonight's All-Star game. The American League, I believe, has won nine out of the last 10 All-Star games, and we still have plenty enough time. It's the top of the sixth. In Atlanta, the National League leaves, the American League, two two Zero.

Hey, thank you so much to Kyle Glazer for joining us. Thank you for listening.
