That's right. This is CBS Sports Radio and you are locked in to the J.R. Sportbrief show. I'm going to be hanging out here with you for the next four hours. This is when I get started.

10 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 p.m. Pacific. We got a lot to do, a lot to discuss here over the next four hours. It's been a busy, busy week.

But here's the deal. I'm coming to you live from the Rocket Mortgage Studios. Whether you're looking to purchase a new home or refinance yours, Rocket Mortgage can help you get there for home loan solutions that fit your life.

Rocket can. Thank you so much to producer Carlos Ortiz hanging out with me and you tonight over the next four hours. He helped put the show together.

He's going to make sure that everything runs smooth. And thank you to everybody listening all over North America. It's Friday night. I know people like to turn up a little bit on Friday night. They like to let their hair down and if they don't have any hair, they just like to throw back some drinks. Whatever you're doing on this Friday night, you could be at work, you could be at home, you could be on your way to one or the other.

Be safe, be cool, and be smooth. Okay, if you want to holler at me here at CBS Sports Radio, you know how to do it. The number is 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

Just me? You can find me online. I'm on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. That is at JR Sport Brief.

And if you follow me on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, you'll already have an idea about what we're going to discuss tonight because I shared it. And we have had a wild, wild week. Aaron Judge, New York Yankees are currently up on a Boston Red Sox 5-4. Yankees are trying to close out the game in the top of the ninth. Aaron Judge won for four today so far and it doesn't appear that he's going to hit his game tying, or excuse me, doesn't look like he's going to tie Roger Maris for 61. Not tonight, unless this game gets extended.

Albert Pujols looking to inch closer to 700 as well. We've had a crazy week. We know Aime Udonka, he's been in the news, dammit, past couple of days, past two days and it feels like it's been a week.

Robert Sarver is no longer at the top of the news, the owner of the Phoenix Suns who said he's going to sell. And then obviously we know we're setting up for week three of football. Yeah, things got started last night between the Browns and the Steelers, the Browns walking away with the victory. But by the time we get to Sunday, we're going to have a full slate. Justin Herbert might not participate in that full slate. Kittle will be returning for the Niners. Tom Brady has a busted up hand. I mean, if I have to think about what happened last night, Mike Tomlin, he went back to, you know, what he's originally said, is that don't expect for me to change my mind on Kenny Pickett right now.

And then even Roger Federer, you've probably seen, well, we have seen the last of Roger Federer competing in his own damn tournament. And so it's been a busy week and we are going to talk about it all. First of all, Carlos, man, before we get things rolling here, how the hell are you, man? You doing good? Man, every day, JR, every day is a good day when you got some air in your lungs, you know what I mean? Yeah, any day, what did they say? Any day above ground is a good one, right?

Yeah, it's essentially the same thing. Yeah, above the dirt, you can't, well, you can't really breathe in the dirt. Unless you're David Blaine. That man can eat nails, breathe in the dirt. He's a wild fellow. Yeah, we're not all David Blaine though.

Yeah, we're not. Did you see David Blaine chewing nails the other day? I haven't caught up with anything that David Blaine has done in years. To be honest, JR, before you've mentioned him right now, I completely forgot he existed.

Oh, I don't blame you. He hasn't been out the forefront. I was like scrolling through Twitter a couple of days ago and I think he was on Jimmy Kimmel or one of those shows and he was eating nails. Just a modern day magician? I don't know what the hell he is. He's just a crazy guy. He's like an extreme vegan. Is that what he is? I'm assuming so. You don't like meat that much?

You need to eat some nails? He's a vegan? Is he?

For real? No, I have no idea. I'm just speculating. No, he could be.

Probably. Extreme vegan. I'm not going to eat animal products.

I'm just going to eat nails. Oh yeah, and I'm not going to forget this. I mentioned this earlier in the week. We're going to get into Brett Favre and his situation as well. He is embroiled in his own scandal. I guess this is just scandal week in the world of sports. You have Brett Favre taking money from a welfare funded Mississippi. He's like, I don't know where the money came from.

I just took it. You got Robert Sarver who was the, or he still is the owner of the Phoenix Suns. It took him about a week to go, I'm going to sell this team.

You got Aime Udonka. This is just scandals all over the place. You know, I always tell folks, sports is really a microcosm of life. It's just, it plays out in public. It's an entertainment property.

And it's no different than a movie, a film, you know, any project that you might sit down and watch, except for it's not scripted. Unless it's like the Black Sox scandal. You know, we go, or Tim Donahue, this isn't scripted.

You got people out there competing, unless they're cheating. And so this entire week has just been a wild ride. And it's going to be nice, I assume, by the time we get to Monday, after we've gone through some of the great football games on Sunday. Buffalo is going to take on Miami. A bunch of the Bills defenders are hurt. We have the Rams getting ready to take on Arizona.

That should be a fun matchup. Let's see if Aaron Donald can pretty much abuse and drive Kyler Murray into the dirt. You have the Denver Broncos in San Francisco. Yeah, Jimmy Garoppolo is back.

Trey Lance got a broken ankle. Russell Wilson is trying to let everybody know that. Yeah, I can win a championship and do amazing things here in Denver. And so at least for a couple of days, it'll be nice to get back to sports.

And so having said that. We're going to talk about Emei Odoka next hour. Brad Stevens has spoken. Talked earlier today, press conference. Celtics owner talked. We got media members just beefing and yelling with each other about who released this and who leaked that.

And to me, it's all just a waste of time. Today, Friday. We even got a statement from Emei Odoka's partner. Decade long partner, actress Nia Long. So TMZ is involved as well. Brady has a busted hand. Aaron Rodgers, one of his targets, is busted up. It's a wild week.

And so let me talk about this guy right now. And of course, it's I just told you a few minutes ago that that Aaron Judge is one for four tonight. The Yankees trying to close out this game against the Red Sox. And right now, the Red Sox got two guys on base in the top of the ninth with one out. They're losing. The Red Sox are five to four.

And they're trying to go home. So who knows? Maybe Aaron Judge will go out there and and get another chance. And if he does, that means the Yankees, they choked at the top of the ninth.

And that's that's not what we need. And so kudos to Aaron Judge. I don't think he'll hit the home run tonight. The Yankees should close this game out. And I know there are a lot of Yankee fans who, quite frankly, they're going to have to wait. One more day. And at least that one more day is not going to be broadcast on Apple TV. That one more day tomorrow, Saturday, when the Yankees host the Red Sox at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. That's going to be on the Yankees local network that they own, the Yes Network. That game will be broadcast on MLB Network for everyone who's not in New York. And this is the way things should have been.

It would have been a disaster. We talked about this all week. If Aaron Judge decided to go out there and make history and tie Roger Maris for the American League record for home runs in the season on Apple TV. I signed on to Apple TV and it made me scan a barcode and verify who I am. And I'm like, what are you doing here? You're telling me the game is free. I just I just want to watch the game.

That's it. And so at least there'll be more of a wide spectrum of people who will be able to watch the game tomorrow. And speaking of the game tomorrow, the game tonight is done.

It's a final score. The New York Yankees win five to four. Aaron Judge goes one for four. He finishes tonight with an average of 315, 60 home runs, 128 RBIs. And unless you've been living underneath a rock, Aaron Judge still leads the world and not just home runs and RBIs, but just about every single offensive category runs on base percentage.

O.P.S., if it is something important in the game, he's leading war. Aaron Judge is the guy. We've talked about this. I said this months ago.

I said it this week. Aaron Judge is going to walk away with the MVP award. And right now, it's just a matter of is he going to get the Triple Crown, a 315 average as well to to kind of lead the American League? And then when is he going to hit this home run?

I hope it's tomorrow. Saturday afternoon in the Bronx. Looks like the weather will be beautiful. 70 degrees. Earlier this week, I was in the Bronx at Fordham University and it was it was hot as hell up there. People are wearing hoodies now.

If I wore a hoodie the other day, I'd pretty much melt. And so the scene is set for Aaron Judge to do something spectacular tomorrow afternoon. And there's there's not a guy who deserves it more. Aaron Judge is so relaxed and humble and chill that even in speaking with Tom Verducci, he said, hey, the record is 73 in reference to Barry Bonds. And he's better than me because I've sat here plenty of times on air and told you if Aaron Judge ties or breaks this record, I'm going to consider him to be the home run, quote unquote, single season king. Aaron Judge is a classy dude. I'd love to see him get the record sooner than later. Every single game, the Marist family is there.

Judge, his family is there. Last night, he almost took one deep straightaway to center. Tonight, he almost took one out the park as well. It stopped. And at this point, even after his at bats, he walks back to the dugout and he's he's shaking his head with a little smile. Like, man, I just I need to get this crap over with.

And so it's been an enjoyable ride. It'll be nice to see Aaron Judge tie the record, then break it. And for a lot of Yankee fans, it'll ultimately be real nice if the Yankees can have some success in the postseason. Tonight, Garrett Cole was on the mound, six innings pitched, gave up four earned runs, including a home run.

He got thrown out of the game because he wanted to argue with the umpire. And I don't know, I'm not all that positive about the Yankees in the playoffs, just just given some of their issues throughout the season scoring. Some of their pitching, healthy, hurt, bullpen all over the place. They need Mariano Rivera right now, and we know he ain't coming back. And so this is one of the key reasons why Aaron Judge, I believe, is going to be MVP.

He's done it all. He's kept them in this position to clinch a playoff spot. And for the rest of the regular season, it's about the pitching getting sharp, hoping that some of these bats get hot along with Aaron Judge and just seeing if he breaks the record. And so no home run tonight for Aaron Judge. The world of baseball and Yankee fans can kind of rest easy at minimum for one more day. Because Aaron Judge didn't hit a home run on Apple TV. He almost did, but he'll be in action tomorrow, and every Yankee fan can watch it on the Yes Network, and people can watch it widely on MLB, so it'll be fun. Meanwhile, Albert Pujols, he's still trying to make history himself.

We're going to talk about that on the other side of the break. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio, 855-212-4CBS. Aaron Judge, he didn't hit a home run tonight. Albert Pujols is in LA.

What the hell is he going to do? We'll talk about it on the other side. It's the JR Sport Reshow. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. The best sports show in the country, my friend. Always a pleasure to talk to you, brother. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio, 855-212-4CBS.

It's 855-212-4CBS. We're going to get into some NFL football later on in the show. Obviously, I have to update you, unfortunately, on the Emei Udoka situation, as the Celtics held a press conference earlier today, on Friday. But a few minutes ago, the New York Yankees just defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-4. If you're someone who's ultimately watching the chase of history, Aaron Judge did not hit a home run tonight. No home run tonight by Aaron Judge.

He did go 1-4. He still sits at 60 home runs. So we're waiting to see him tie Roger Maris at 61, but he's still in the lead right now for the American League Triple Crown. He finishes the evening with a 315 average, 60 home runs, and 128 RBIs. And so there was a lot of talk about Aaron Judge getting this hit, getting this home run on Apple TV. That did not take place, and so we're just going to have to wait until tomorrow. The Yankees are back in action hosting the Red Sox for a 1 p.m. Eastern time start.

The world waits. So does Aaron Judge, the Maris family, and Judge's own family. All of these folks are in attendance, and there's not that bat that goes by where they don't put in a special baseball, where they don't pan over to images of his family and Maris' family, and everybody just waits to see if he hits it.

And by the way, whoever catches that damn ball is, man. Carlos, what is that ball going to be worth? What, half a mil? More than a million dollars?

That was the first number that came into my mind. It's going to be half a mil. Half, for the ball that ties it?

I think for tying it, let's be conservative. Let's say it'll be $350,000 or $400,000. I think breaking it is going to easily clear half a mil. I think that's on the low end. I think we might be talking 5-1 for tying the record, and I think we're definitely going to be a mil for breaking it. I ain't going to see none of it.

I ain't standing out in that. Where do you think he's going to hit the home run? Probably left field, right? Yeah, we got to pick our spots now.

Yeah, this man has power to everywhere. I'm going to assume it's going to end up in left. Everybody looks packed out there in the stands at Yankee Stadium, and whoever gets that ball, you can bet your ass they're going to be punching the living hell out of them to try to get their hands on them. Whoever catches the ball, I hope they act like a human being and have a little bit of a heart, but it's not going to happen. They're going to be fighting tooth and nail for that ball. 8-5-5, 2-1-2 for CBS.

That's 8-5-5, 2-1-2 for CBS. In a few minutes, Albert Pujols, he's also chasing history. Albert Pujols was up to bat in Los Angeles. I'll update you on his at-bat momentarily. We got Chris. He's calling for Maryland. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Chris, what's on your mind? I have a guy and I see Roy is, hey, don't worry about the guy who catches the ball.

The guy, the people who have got to behave is the one who are around him trying to beat the hell out of him to get the ball. Here, I wanted to tell you this. You've been talking about Apple TV the last couple of nights.

All right, so I'm here down here. I did DC TV local, and I watched the Orioles last night. The Nationals didn't play.

Anyway, I noticed after the Orioles game about 9, 30, 10 o'clock, here come Channel 5, had the Yankees on the Seattle Fox, on my local channel here, my local Fox. Did you know that or anything? No, I'm pretty sure.

I saw Aaron Judge fly ball to the center field, 4-0-4. I'm pretty sure. Oh my God, Chris.

It was the hottest thing. Chris, you asked me a question. Can I answer it? Oh, I'm sorry. Yes. I mean, goodness gracious.

How much coffee did you have tonight? A little bit, and I get excited about Aaron Judge, and I think it's important because I think this should promote baseball. Well, let's slow down a little. I'm sure what you saw last night was a cut-in, but Aaron Judge on Apple TV was tonight.

No, I'm not right. I'm not talking about tonight. I understand that, so I'm trying to understand why you're telling me about last night. All right, because why couldn't baseball cut in if anything was going on tonight? How did they just come up with a Thursday night Fox 5? They didn't. So understand this. Apple TV bought this entire – you know the answer. You're telling me. Apple TV bought the rights to particular games on Fridays. If I'm paying for something, then I have my right to say – Right.

What are you snatching it from me for if I paid for it? You know the answer. I know, but they couldn't – like how did they do it last night with whatever Fox 5?

I don't know. It was running at 930 at night. It was.

Well, so yes, I am familiar with what you're talking about. That was a nationally distributed game. Fox also has the rights. I'm sure they have the option late in the season to go ahead and broadcast when things come to a conclusion on a day other than Saturday. We know that Fox has done the quote unquote game of the week for many, many years. And so whether or not that game was prescheduled, I'm not certain. But it's not surprising to me at all that the Yankees and Red Sox played on a nationally televised game on a Thursday. Is it unusual? Yes.

But late in the season, not so much. But they can't touch Apple. By the time – it's not about touching Apple.

Apple paid for it, Chris. I got you. I got you. Nobody paid for the national broadcast for Thursday night.

I got you. Well, Fox does. Fox hasn't agreed.

What I'm saying to you is – Oh, okay, but I don't – okay, okay. It doesn't – if Thursday sat – let's put it this way. You've seen an NFL game on a Saturday, right? Yes, Chris. When does it typically happen? Holiday season. Around the holidays. Holiday. There you go, Chris. You have the answers. I appreciate you.

You got anything else? Yeah, and there would be more because I saw it was perfect. And he could get eight or nine. I saw his throw from right field. He's got plenty of time left. He's worth it and he's good for baseball.

He is. It should be a bigger thing. It should be bigger. It should be more promoted like they did on Thursday night where the whole nation got it.

Well, we need a whole lot more than Aaron Judge hitting that one home run to kind of put more eyes on baseball, man. That's almost a conversation on a dying hill. It is.

It really is. We've got to go back 24 years at this point. We've got to go back 24 years for the last time that America as a whole and the national media, not just the sports media. We've got to go back 24 years. It's the last time that that that America as a country was captivated by a home run chase. And I'm sure there are people on the outskirts of the sports scene who go, oh, Yankee guy, Aaron Judge hitting home runs.

Oh, wow. OK. Not like 1998. And the fact that that was tainted and the guy who came after that and Barry Bonds, that was tainted. Yeah, this.

Yeah, the luster isn't there. It's unfortunate. I agree with you.

You got a whole lot, whole lot more problems than that. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS.

It's kind of ridiculous. But the man I want to update you on right now is Albert Pujols. He started playing in 2001.

Here we are in 2022. And he is still trying and aiming for his 700th home run. He's finishing up his career at the age of 42 with the Cardinals right now, St. Louis. And we know that in August he was hot as hell. Eight home runs in a month of August.

He had seven home runs prior to that for the entire season. Here in the month of September, Albert Pujols has four home runs and he is two away from joining the 700 club. And hey, hey, Carlos, isn't the 700 club, isn't that that thing on church TV, isn't that? Yeah, you would think so. Yeah. Well, I think, yeah, I think that's called the 700 club, but not that one.

The one that has Babe Ruth, Hammer and Hank and then Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols. He has about a week and a half left here to go out there and join that 700 club. And so his last home run came last Friday night. He's been homeless. His bat has cooled off, had an average of about 360 last month. And yeah, he's 42.

You're not going to stay hot forever. He's hit 19 home runs for the entire season. He has 53 RBIs and not really a bad way to go out. If you have to look at his individual accomplishments, if you are Albert Pujols.

And so tonight. As the cards take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles, he opened up the game. He's in the two hole. He struck out swinging. And so Albert Pujols, he's going to have a few more at bats. He's pretty much only at the top of the batting order, if you ask me.

So he gets a prime opportunity to swing away. We know he had a cup of coffee with the Dodgers as his career started to wind down. And it's just a beautiful thing that we got two good guys. Albert Pujols, who is just one of the nicest human beings in the game. And the same for Aaron Judge. We got two dudes just real nice going for records. Albert Pujols trying to join that 700 club. And then Aaron Judge is trying to hit more home runs than anybody in American League history. And we still have time. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

We got a lot of time at the top of the hour. We're going to talk about Emei Udonka. I want you to hear from the Boston Celtics executives as to what took place as much as they could share. And why they decided to suspend Emei for an entire year. But before we do that, I want to piggyback on something that Chris from Maryland just said. Why couldn't we get the game nationally televised?

Folks, we got to get used to it. Apple TV. Amazon Prime. I'm pretty sure there's going to be something else streaming any day now. Damn it, I told you about NFL Sunday Ticket.

I told you they owe me money for their crap product. We're going to talk about that on the other side. Especially that Sunday Ticket nonsense. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Music You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. I got to tell you JR, the only highlight of my night is being able to talk to you.

One of the best and most underrated in the business. I got to tell you, you're amazing. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. Well, that's nice. I hope we can have some, or add some other highlights to your night.

But I'm glad I'm one of them. I appreciate you. It is the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. When we get to the top of the hour, because I'm going to need an extended amount of time, I'm going to talk to you and update you on what took place in Boston today. As the Celtics, their owner, Wick Grossbeck, excuse me, has spoken out. President Brad Stevens, former head coach of the Boston Celtics, he spoke out. And then we even got some words from Matt Barnes. Yes, Matt Barnes. He doesn't have a damn thing to do with the Boston Celtics. We know Matt Barnes is now a podcaster, media personality, ESPN, as well as Showtime. He put out some comments last night pretty much disagreeing with the one year suspension of Imei Udonka. But today, Matt Barnes posted another video and he pretty much said that things are worse than we could have even imagined.

And so we're going to talk about Imei, or excuse me, Imei Udonka at the top of the hour. But I want to kind of put some finality here on a little bit of the baseball stuff. And when I say baseball stuff, Aaron Judge did not hit his home run tonight. Yankee fans can be happy and thrilled about that.

It didn't take place on Apple TV. Albert Pujols is aiming for his seventh hundredth home run. I mean, it'd be amazing if he hits two tonight. He's sitting on 698 and the Cardinals are in Los Angeles taking on the Dodgers. And so here you have two historical moments in baseball.

One of which could have and one still can take place behind of, I don't want to call it a fledgling platform, but that's what it is. You know, who's sitting down watching Apple TV? That's just facts. And if I have to think about the average age of someone who watches baseball, which is close to 60. Who the hell is, who the hell is tuning in to Apple TV? We have Roku and Apple TV boxes and Google Chromecast. Carlos, am I missing anything?

What else we got? Apple TV. Did we have Amazon Fire Stick at one point? Yeah, Amazon has a fire stick. You're right.

People used to bootleg things on the fire stick. Not me, though. I just know about it.

I'll be upfront about it. I had it unlocked. I just never knew how to use it. Wasn't there, there's always like a neighborhood guy who knows how to set it, right? Yeah, and that was my brother-in-law, but like he moved to Florida and he's much smarter than me.

And I was just, now I was just sitting there collecting dust. Oh, so, you know, everybody in Florida is doing an amazing job right now with free TV. God bless your brother-in-law.

Good stuff. Shout out to Geraldo. Yeah, what's up Geraldo?

The fact is, not everybody has a Geraldo to hook them up. Apple TV and there were so many negotiations and the Yes Network wanted the game to broadcast Aaron Judge. And then, you know, Michael Kay was just like, I'm not jumping on the broadcast if it should be announced.

And I got to give Michael Kay some credit. He said that's their job. The broadcasters on Apple TV, he said, I'm not, I'm not going to impede. I'm not going to get in the way. I'm not going to move anyone else out of position to call this call or call the home run if it happens. And it did not. So nobody has to worry. I think he'll hit it tomorrow.

Saturday afternoon, daytime, beautiful. He'll just get it out the way. At minimum, I think the odds are high that he'll tie tomorrow. And I don't have any other reasoning besides I just figure he's due. No more than a couple of the knuckleheads who called me up in a week and go, hey, I think Aaron Judge is using steroids. And I go, well, why? And they go, I don't know.

I just, I just feel that way. And so who knows? Maybe Albert Pujols will hit home run number 699 tonight. And maybe it'll be hidden, quote unquote, behind Apple TV. But here's the deal. These services aren't going anywhere. Watching baseball on Apple TV, this is ultimately a test towards a larger distribution deal. Amazon Prime hosting Thursday Night Football.

It's not going anywhere. And let's be real, and I talked about this on Monday because I was quite upset. I tweeted about it on Sunday, and I hope I don't have to tweet about it this upcoming Sunday. NFL Sunday Ticket. It allows me to watch every single NFL game every single week, regardless of where I'm at. I can pull open Sunday Ticket on my phone. I can look at it on my tablet. I can pull it up on television if I'm home. I can watch it on my laptop, my computer.

I can watch NFL games anywhere that I have an internet connection. Unless the service sucks. And so for the past two weeks, that's exactly what the service has been. Outages. Sometimes the phone works, and then the television doesn't work. And sometimes the TV doesn't work, but the phone does. Nobody can get on the same page.

Gigantic chunks of time. I was sitting down watching the Ravens and the Dolphins. Ravens were annihilating them. And then the Dolphins were coming back, and too, it's like, here's four touchdowns. He threw six total.

And I had to miss him because the stupid NFL Sunday Ticket didn't work. And so technology is great when it actually works. And can we really be shocked or surprised? It's being delivered by DirecTV. How many people are rushing to, I don't know. I don't know where you get a satellite from. Who's rushing to, I don't know, Best Buy to get a satellite dish to put on their roof unless you absolutely live in the middle of nowhere? That's pretty much probably going to be the only thing that keeps DirecTV alive, but people in the burbs and people in the city definitely is not getting DirecTV. They got an internet hookup in their house.

They got maybe a cable box, and that's it. And give it five, 10, 15 years, or 20 years, probably a long time, there's not going to be no cable boxes. And so if you're not a fan of Apple TV and Amazon Fire Stick and all these other mechanisms to watch a game, I say get used to it. Everything is going to continue to change and stations will be consolidated.

That's how it is, right? You used to go from network television and then you went to cable. You went from cable and now we're streaming. I know there are people who aren't happy about not being able to just flip the channels back and forth and hit back. I got a bigger issue. How about, can I get Picture in Picture? Can Roku, Apple TV, can they help me watch two games on the screen at one time, or am I missing something? Hey, Carlos, you think Geraldo can help me out with the Picture in Picture? If you don't think I was already texting him by the time we shouted him out, you don't know me, JR. Of course he can help you out.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out the Picture in Picture. Carlos, how do you feel about all these streaming services? Each one it feels like costs $10 a month and the announcers are good in some cases. Sometimes they suck.

How do you feel about the evolution of watching these games? So eventually I'm going to have to cord cut like everybody else because that's just where we're all heading. But I'm still one of the relics that has cable and it's not cheap. But I figure by the time all these bundles and all these services add up, you might as well be paying cable anyway. That's true.

It's true. I cut it out with cable and my bill was like more than $200 plus a month. Yeah, same here.

I'm like, what am I doing? And then I had to pay extra for sports and then I'm paying for internet. And I'm like, dammit, do I need to go broke being connected?

Is it necessary? Like the amount of money is nuts. And so how much these things cost as a standalone, at least you can pick and choose. You think about your cable package. How many of those stations, the channels, are you actually watching?

Slim? None? I think I'm like, I have maybe 500, 600 channels and I think I watch about five.

Yeah, it's crazy, man. Necessary. ESPN, obviously, CBS Sports Network too. You got Fox. You got the news stations. Most people maybe yes or no. If they want to watch something to get angry.

I don't know. There's so much products now that come out on Hulu, that costs money. Netflix, that costs money. HBO, HBO Max costs money. I mean, I can go on and on.

To your point, they all cost money. But if you're a sports fan, you can pretty much just say, hey, I want to settle in on this. I don't want to watch HGTV, so keep it.

So I think that's the beautiful thing about being able to watch programming a la carte. And it's not going anywhere. This is going to be the last year that DirecTV even has or streams Sunday Ticket. And I don't find it a coincidence that in the last year of their deal, that they're having just massive blackouts. And the service is not working.

Why? Because DirecTV has paid to broadcast. It's the last year of their deal. They ain't coming back next year. And they've pretty much taken the approach of, we don't care.

I don't care. We're not going to renew. We're not going to pay more. And so if the service sucks while we're on the way out the door, we're not going to invest in the upkeep of it. What are the ramifications?

The NFL is going to say, oh well, you can't come back next year. Your product sucks. DirecTV is, I don't want to say getting ready to go out of business, but it's not the same type of company that has invested in distributing Sunday Ticket for years. I remember when Sunday Ticket was really just, it was a move to make you get a satellite dish. Like, hey, you want to watch all the NFL games? And you have to be a subscriber to DirecTV.

It's the only reason I got it. Oh, the satellite dish? Yeah, when they were coming out with Red Zone, I wound up getting the DirecTV subscription just because I wanted to watch all the games. And then when I found out Red Zone was a standalone thing with cable a couple years after that, I was like, the hell do I need a satellite dish for? Yeah, decoration, man.

I don't know what, if you don't live in the middle of nowhere, it's tough to just have a dish for a fun reason. And so even that is going to be streaming. We've heard reports and rumors, man. It wouldn't shock me if Apple decided to distribute every single NFL game. If Apple said, hey, we want to have Sunday Ticket, we want to take over from, you know, Red Zone or not Red Zone, but DirecTV, I'd be like, oh, sounds about right. I'd expect it.

And it's going to happen sooner than later. Yeah, if you don't like it, I don't want to tell you too bad, but that's what it is. Too damn bad. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. We're going to take a break. And when we come back, I have to fill you in on the latest with the Boston Celtics and Ime Udonka.
