Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is set for one flaw. Introducing first, from Kolov, the Devil's Nightmare. Welcome back to another episode. Q and A with Kolov Questions and Answers where you get a personal phone call from the Russian Nightmare and that would be me and hey, today, I got a great guest lined up today all the way up in the Lovers State of Virginia, Wayne Daniels. Welcome to Q and A with Kolov.
How are you here? Of course, we've got to know each other over time now through ministry as I've been up to your area, Chesapeake, for those wrasslin' aficionados that would know Chesapeake, Virginia as the home of Magnum TA, Terry Allen. I know you've told me in the past you grew up donning the Norfolk Scope there for a few live shows as well as the Hampton Roads Coliseum, right?
Oh yeah, both of them. As a young kid and a teenager, we would freakin' vote for those. Anytime you guys would come through, we were there. Back in the day. Outside of Dusty Rhodes, who I know is one of your favorites, who else was a favorite besides Dusty? Yeah, like I said, the Rock and Roll Express were always big fans of them and of course, you know, a hawk and animal was a huge, huge fan of the Road Warriors.
Of course, you know, Hulk Hogan. I grew up when the cartoon came out in the 80s and we watched that Saturday morning cartoon. You had Hillbilly Jim and Junkyard Dog and Jimmy Superfly Snooker and Andre, the whole bunch.
So I followed them all, but Dusty was my number one. That is funny. Now, I gotta say for the record, when you mention in the same breath the Legion of Doom, Road Warriors, Animal and Hawk, and Rock and Roll Express, you know, they're like two opposite ends of the spectrum there. You know that, right? Oh, very much so. Very much so. Two smaller, but yet proficient wrestlers, Rock and Roll, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, and then two much larger individuals, larger than life, some would say, Hawk and Animal, right? Oh, for sure. For sure. Very different from one another, but a lot of fun to watch.
Yeah, very different styles, right? I vividly remember when Ricky and Robert first came into the territory and they're like, hey, we want to really put these guys on the map. And so we're going to put the World Tag Team's straps on them, titles on them, and we're like, okay, cool. Yeah, for sure. And boy, that just really, you know, that was in Shelby, North Carolina.
And man, did that set the stage, set the future for those guys and fast forward to this day. You do know Ricky Morton is still wrestling, right? Do you know that?
I do. I saw recently that he was at a smaller venue recently and I was shocked by that. He is still, God bless him.
I'm just going to say better him than me. And Robert until just not that long ago was getting in the ring with it. Now Robert has more recently had, I want to say both hips replaced. So he's had two hip replacement surgeries, you know, from all that, I say tongue in cheek from all that fake wrestling, right?
So Ricky is now teaming up with his son, his son who's wrestling. Oh, I didn't know that. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So his son has become his new tag team partner.
So it's kind of, kind of funny now. So, so you, you got past wrestling though, and I know you headed off in a different direction and I think in your early twenties into ministry. So you're, you're a PK, right? You're a PK, pastor's kid. I am. I am a PK and everything that you think you know about a PK, I probably fit that.
I was the typical PK. Whatever you heard, right? It's the truth. It's the truth. Yeah.
Yeah. We came in early twenties and began to answer the call. And of course my wife, you know, my wife, you know, she, she didn't really know much about my, me being felt called to ministry and to preach at a young age. We didn't really have that conversation. So we didn't meet in the church.
Neither one of us. We, well, we actually met in a church, which is kind of funny, but neither one of us were really walking with the Lord and had a relationship. With, with the Lord. But we, but, uh, so she found out later that, uh, that, Hey, I'm calling to preach by the way. And so that was a little bit shocking for her, but a hundred percent, she was on board.
So that could be a whole show in and of itself. Um, you know, people who are in the church, but not necessarily, um, following Christ, right? I mean, that, that's not, not uncommon.
Of course, uh, fat. Well, well tell us, so take a minute, tell us about your family. So tell, at what point did you guys get married? How long you've been married? Tell us, take a minute and tell us about your family.
Yeah. So, so, um, we've been married since 1999 and here we are now in 2025. So 26 years, we're getting ready to celebrate, um, you know, well over half my life.
I've spent with my lovely bride and she absolutely outside of Christ, she has been a definitely a salvation in my life. And it's been so supportive, um, over the years and the different seasons of life and the things that we've, we've gone through. But we were young, young parents. In fact, my, uh, we have four daughters. Um, but my youngest is graduating from, uh, from high school this year. So we're going to be empty nesters, um, before, before I'm 50, which is going to be amazing. So we're excited. You know, we were young family, a young family, but now we're going to be young empty nesters.
And so, you know, no matter how you do it, I think, um, there's different, you know, different, different things for different seasons. So we're excited about the next one of getting to know each other all over again, without, without four children, uh, in the picture. Cause that could be, cause that could be a challenge, right?
Wayne, I mean, uh, you know, and I'm sure there's people out there who can already relate to what you're saying, but you know, to go from the busy life of raising kids and running them to games and just all the stuff you do to also go. Now you're just kind of staring at each other and go, okay, well, so what do we do? What are we doing tonight? Like, what do we do? Like, right. Yeah.
Yeah. Really the last year, because we only have the one daughter at home, um, we begin to really kind of look at that and say, well, yeah, what are we going to do next? Because all I, all of my kids were athletes and my oldest daughter was in crew. Um, you know, she, she raced the boats. My, my second daughter was, was in everything. She's a, she's currently a bodybuilder now, um, graduated UVA. And then my third was volleyball, basketball.
Uh, she was in all of that. Then my youngest was a competition gymnast up until about a year and a half ago. And so everything was sporting events from this one to the next one. And then sometimes we'd have to be at two different places with two different children competing.
And so it was very busy, you know, busy season. So now it seems like it'll slow down and I'm hoping there's going to be a little bit of time before the grandkids start coming. So, so we're have a little bit of time just hurry down to begin to kind of, uh, looking new and, uh, and afresh to what God has next for us. But I love, love my kids, love my family.
Wouldn't trade any of that for the world. And, and one of my daughters is getting married in October would be my first of my four daughters, um, to get married. So we know we're going into that next season as well. So, so did you, so let me ask you a question regarding that. Uh, did, did you financially plan for four weddings? Wait. Oh, no, no, no, no, not at all.
Not at all. And that's, that's a whole nother segment as well. You know, I had been very blessed, uh, in, in the business world. And, and, um, you know, before I said yes to the call of God and, you know, we were well, you know, God had blessed us financially and we were well off. But when we answered the call to go into pastoral ministry, uh, in pastor, our first church, uh, I pastored by vocational for about a year, but I traveled a lot around the country.
And, um, the church grew to a point that I couldn't do both with excellence. And so we do the future within the call. And so, um, looking back on that moment, there's some things I probably would have done differently by way of saving and investments at the time. But you know, you're young, you know, we were young and we made decisions that we felt were the best.
And no, no, we didn't save. The good news is we have a lot of ministry in my family. And so we have churches and we have a lot of musicians in my family. A lot of support.
Barbecue folks in my family. A whole lot of support. So we'll be able to get through these weddings, I think.
Pretty reasonable. There you go. Cause you, you know, you and I have that in common. I, you know, I raised four girls as well. And, uh, and so I, I know the, the, I know what that looks like, you know, planning and paying for four weddings. So I, I get that part of it. So, well, that's amazing. Well, you enjoy that empty nest time because, because once the grandkids do start coming, uh, that that's a whole nother season.
And I, and I'm telling you that is that in and of itself is a, is a whole nother blessing. Like I just recently, one of my daughters, um, just had, uh, their third, which is my 13th grandchild. Okay. Uh huh. Yep. My daughter Kendra.
And then my, my youngest daughter, Colby, her and her husband are in the process of adopting their second, which will then be my 14th grandchild. So you're talking about full quiver. There's some, there's some for you to look at Wayne right there or something you look forward to. Let me just say that. So, uh, I am looking forward to, there you go. So, well, let's, let's take a minute before we get to your questions here. Let's take a minute.
Kingdom life. Uh, I know I was there with you last fall at the Man Up Men's Conference and had the opportunity to, to minister and, uh, and, uh, uh, fortunately, uh, you, you've invited me back this, this upcoming fall. So I'll be back with you up there in Virginia, but take a minute, tell people about kingdom life and like if they're in the area or passing through and you know, what could they expect, you know, if they visited the church and or a couple of things that you guys are doing. And then, uh, and of course your website.
Yeah, of course. Um, so, you know, definitely, uh, right in the heart of Chesapeake, a very exciting ministry. You know, we, one of our core values is worship. And so we really prioritize worship.
So if you really do enjoy worship and, and, uh, in praise, uh, you know, kingdom life is, is, is a great, great atmosphere to, to do that in. And, and so we're excited. We're, we're at a season of great growth and the Lord is really blessing us. We're seeing a lot of, uh, first time, um, first time salvations.
Um, and, and many of them are coming in their, their twenties and their thirties. And, and, and they're just coming into that relationship with Christ. And so it's an exciting season. Um, we've, we've got a great discipleship ministry in place for a lot of these that are coming to know the Lord. And, and so evangelistically, you know, we have great desires to, to reach out, out of the wall.
So we have great services, great facilities, but we, we have a passion to really get into our communities of Hampton Roads and, and the seven cities to make a difference and an impact right where people are. So, so we're excited. We've got some big, big plans coming. We will get ready to launch into a second service in the fall. And, uh, we're of course excited to have you back.
And that'd be, I believe the second weekend of November. And, uh, that's our man up conference and they, those have been just phenomenal. And, uh, you have done such an amazing, uh, you know, amazing job administering to my men and men of the area. So we're looking forward to having you come back, but kingdomlife.com is the website. That's awesome.
And, uh, yeah, you had a great, great lineup of speakers as well as a great group of men there. So I'm looking forward to that. So, all right, well, let's segue and give you the opportunity to throw, throw a couple of questions my way. And so let me know, uh, let me know what you got first and that'd be great.
Yeah. So you and I actually haven't had that conversation about this, but just the other day, we have a common friend that, um, that, that is a fitness trainer in the gym that I work out in. And he began to share with me, uh, Lexus story concerning things, brother, that's a pastor. And he shared with me a video, a testimony of, of Lex. And I had never heard that story of, of, of, of that, of, of, of things, brother and him being a pastor. And it got me thinking about you. I don't know that we've actually had a conversation like who was very instrumental in your life as far as leading you, uh, to come to know and have a relationship with Christ. That would be my first question. I know the timeframe, but I don't really know that story.

Yeah, yeah, who kind of helped, you know, lead you in that direction of where you finally said yes to the Lord. Nudge me along and you know, it's interesting as I think about my story, Wayne, and it, you know, I think any one of us, you know, listening to your story today or listening to Q and A with Koloff could could probably, you know, reflect back on on, you know, their life journey and pick pick certain points.
So what we might call markers or defining moments in our life. And and for me, you know, having not, you know, not not technically growing up in church, you know, like yourself, but but still knew the story. And, you know, remember as a youngster, you know, I do remember, you know, Christmas, Easter, you know, I call them CEOs, right?
Christmas and Easter only. I think that's about the only time that I can kind of recall that we maybe frequented a church in my very younger days. And then when we moved out to the suburb, we really church just wasn't a thing we did. But that said, looking back, I remember in high school, the captain of the football team, his name was Greg Sutton, had these things called FCA meetings, you know, at his house.
And I'm like, you know, I wanted to get in Christian athletes. Right. Well, and I wanted to get in good with with the with the captain. So I would go, but I wouldn't go learn about Jesus. Right.
I just want to get in good with the captain of the football team. Right. Talk about wrong motives.
Right. And then so there was that. And then ironically, my very first male mentor, Bill Burke, who was also my first football coach, ended up coaching his defensive coordinator at this at this Christian college, this community college, a junior college.
Actually, it's called Golden Valley Lutheran College. And so he kind of talked me into coming over there out of high school. And of course, you were required to take Bible by a Bible class every quarter of which, for the record, I tried to sleep through every one of those, like if I could, like for real, like I tried to. Yeah. You know, I'm like, okay, I need to pass this. But at the same time, I'm not really all that interested.
So anyway, so there was that. And then and then, you know, you you you come off on my football, pursuing a football career, then eventually pursuing wrestling. And so, you know, they never frequented, you know, frequented the door of a church and was after wrestling that I had a gym and I had a Lutheran pastor and his wife who were members. And of course, they would always invite me. So I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll come. So once again, Wayne, I would go, but I thought, well, this will keep them as paying customers, right? Oh, wrong motives, right?
I'm like, man, you know? And then finally, I met I met Charlotte and Dick Elston, this Christian couple through some other businesses I was getting involved in, and they had invited me to their church. And so it was a random day that I called them up and I said, I'll be there Sunday. And it was at that service that very first time at their church that that the light bulb, poop, the light, somebody flipped the light switch. And I figured out what was missing in my life. And it was the personal relationship with Jesus. I knew the story, Wayne, but the story never made the 18 inch trip from my head down to my heart. And so there's I so I say all that, say looking back to those little things along the way where I believe God was just kind of kind of directing me in a sense that brought me to that moment. 17 October 1993 at the altar, 11 months after I left wrestling to surrender my life to Christ. And so that's kind of that's a great question.
Nobody's ever really kind of asked me that question, of course. That's really good. Yeah, well, thank you for sharing with that. And so on the heels of that, you know, in our last episode together, we talked a little bit about the calling when I knew the call. So we know we know now here 30 some plus years later, you know how the Lord has used you in a powerful way for thousands and thousands of men and women and children to have such an impact on their lives through the gospel. But when did you did you feel the call immediately or was it sometime later that you knew you would be doing kind of what you're doing right now? Again, another great question.
So let's go back to that same day, 17 October 1993. And I don't always tell this story unless, you know, comes up like you asking the question or, you know, somebody might read my life story, you know, get a copy of my book or listen to the audio book. And, you know, I went in the studio, the very studio I'm sitting in, actually, and recorded my life story on Audible.
And so if people don't like to read, they can actually download a copy. And it's in my own voice. You know, I wanted people to hear my story in my voice. So all that say.
So back to 17 October 1993. It was after the service was over, this elderly guy came up to me as he introduces himself. He says, my name is Buddy. You don't know me. He goes, not a wrestling fan.
I'm not here. Get an autograph. But I know who you are. And I'm like, oh, OK. And so when he proceeds to tell me, he goes, hey, he goes, I just got to tell you the story. I'm like, OK, cool. She goes five years ago. OK, so that would have been 1988. Right.
So this is 1993. We're having this conversation. And he goes, five years ago, I'm surfing through the TV channels, got my remote in my hand and I pause and I stop on wrestling. He goes, please don't be offended. But, you know, I don't even like wrestling. But I'm watching.
I'm watching wrestling. And he's like, why am I watching this? And he goes, you were on doing an interview. And he goes, and clear as day, the Lord spoke to my heart, put an impression upon my heart, spoke to me and said these words. And I quote, pray for that man's salvation. I have a call to ministry on his life. And end quote. And he looked at me, he goes, you know, I didn't know you from Adam, but I've prayed for you faithfully every day for the last five years.
Every day. And and he goes, yeah. And he goes, he goes, I have been to church here in several months because I've been very sick. And Wayne, he looks sick that day.
I mean, he was kind of pale. And and he goes, I wasn't going to come today. I did not feel good this morning. I was I kind of, if you want to say, wrestle with God or argue with God, as he kept prodding me to come. And I'm like, God, I don't feel good.
I don't want to go to church. He goes, but I gave in. You know, I came.
I was obedient. I sat on the back. So he was like on the floor in the very back. He was I didn't even know you were here because I was on what like what would have been these risers on the side.
So there's no way he would have seen me. Right. And he goes, he goes, but the minute you walked across the front, he went, oh, my gosh, that that's the guy I've been praying for for five years. Right. And then he then he started.
Yeah. And they started kind of tearing up. And he's like, it dawned on me.
It hit me. God kept prodding. He prompted me to come to this service. I thought about all the churches on the planet and all the different services. And God blessed me to witness Nikita with my own eyes. You surrendering your heart to Jesus.
And I just incredibly feel so blessed today. And in fact, he didn't live much longer than that. Now, I'll say this last part for the record to Wayne. I understood the first part.
Pray for that man's salvation. I kind of had a handle on that. But the call to ministry was was new to me. OK, I'd never really heard that expression before.
So, you know, said first, I'm like, OK, let me figure out what that means. And and then once I realized the Lord was leading me, would be leading me into becoming, you know, essentially a full time evangelist minister, slash missionary and all of that, that that developed over time. I didn't just immediately jump headfirst into that. There was a season of about five years there where I was just mentored and disciple. And then call off for Christ Ministries was officially launched in 1998, five years later.
So, yeah. Wow, that's incredible. You know, it reminded me, you know, of my own walk and how how thankful I am of of the precious faithful along the way who who prayed for me and or and or shared with me a word that that they had that the Lord had given them for me. And I'm just thankful for those faithful, faithful people that preceded long before me saying yes to the Lord and saying yes to the call of God. And so that's what I want to be.
I want to I want to be the same for the next generation and the next call to ministry, pastor and evangelist and missionary. A lot of times you don't know you really don't know the impact, do you? You know, he's praying every day and doesn't really know. He just he just feels that burden, you know, and he's just being faithful to the Lord.
But but look at that. Look at the prayers. Yeah.
What does the Bible say? The faith, the prayers of a faithful man, a faith of much. Right. Yeah.
So that's powerful. Well, and I appreciate the question. And I must say, before we before we kind of wrap things up here for for those listening, let me a couple of things. Let me encourage you, as you hear Wayne and I discussing the power of of prayer, maybe you kind of weary because you've been praying for somebody. It feels like forever. And you just you're like, God, when are you going to move in this person's heart? Just don't give up. Just keep praying, keep praying, keep praying. So that's one thing I want to encourage you listeners with is just keep praying, press in, keep praying.
And then the other thing is you hear us talking about a call. Well, that doesn't necessarily even mean a call to ministry. You know, as Wayne and I are talking, you could be called to become an electrician or a plumber or an attorney or a doctor or nurse or, you know.
Right. So so that and that can become your your your mission and your ministry. You know, a mom staying home and raising her children and training them up in the way they should go. You know, that can be your calling, if you will. And so I just want to encourage all of you out there in Listening Land as well in that regard. So, Wayne, I appreciate you, man. Thank you for being on the show today. Yeah.
