Ladies and Gentlemen, the following contest is set for one flaw. Introducing first, from Lithuania, he weighs 123 kilos, the Russian Nightmare, Nikita Kolob. Welcome to another episode, Q&A with Kolob, the Devil's Nightmare. With me today on Q&A is none other than Josh Oglesby.
Josh, welcome to Q&A with Kolob. Thank you for having me. Greetings, my brother. And greetings to you, Josh.
Great to have you. You know, a lot of times I get to talk to just a variety of different people from all walks of life and all backgrounds, and there's a special relationship you and I have. We go back quite a period of years here and have several things in common. We have wrestling in common.
We'll talk about that here in a moment. We have ministry in common. Those are a couple of the main things and really a business mind, I would say, in common. You're in real estate. I do a host of things from radio shows to podcasting to TV shows to autograph signings to preaching to conferences to camps and lots of different hats I wear. But let's jump into your wrestling background briefly.
You're down there in South Carolina, yes? Correct. And fascinating story, and I want to encourage you, the listener, to go over into the Man Up archive and listen to Josh's full story because we talk about, we get in pretty good detail about his wrestling career, which started, correct me if I'm wrong, Josh, at the age of 15?
That's correct. Fifteen. You were in, and that's in ring action. I'm not talking about buying a ticket and sitting in the front row. You're in the ring wrestling at age 15.
Yes, sir. Way too young, in my opinion, but I was there nonetheless. Looking back, I was too young. And you did that, as you said, because you were homeschooled and so not a whole lot of options in terms of athletics and that sort of thing. Let me first ask you about that. Let me ask you about the homeschooling. People have different perspectives and views of that. What's your view on homeschooling? I think in the right home, it can be a wonderful thing.
Okay. There's a lot of really good homeschools that now promote, there's a lot of get-togethers where the kids can be more physical. So there's a lot of different wonderful programs that kids have options for nowadays. And homeschooling, and I'm an advocate of it because one, I homeschooled some of my children and absolutely loved it, really enjoyed it. Some people don't know, I graduated from college with a teaching degree, actually, believe it or not, the Russian nightmare.
Can you picture that in a classroom, in front of a classroom and teaching students? But I had a teaching degree and although I never formally pursued that because the door of opportunity for wrestling opened up for me. But you launched from a homeschooling environment into the pro wrestling world and have done that for how many years now?
Let's see. We're on year 19. 19 years in the pro wrestling world. And you've just recently come back from, well, we won't call it a retirement, maybe just a hiatus from the ring? That'd be fair to say. I had a new chapter of my life I entered into and not a whole lot of time for putting on the tights and the boots and wrestling. So once that got leveled out and I was at a good place, I had more time to pursue my passion. Very good. Very good.
We'll talk about where people can maybe catch one of your matches or something a little bit later. And so in addition, as I mentioned, in addition to the pro wrestling that we have in common, ministry as well, you've attended Man Camp, you now come back and serve on staff at Man Camp. What would be a word of encouragement?
Somebody's out there listening. A woman's got a special man in her life. Mom's got a son that she feels like could use his life, be impacted somehow some way. And here's about Man Camp, which we've actually had that happen before, encouraged her son to go. What would you say maybe one of the greatest impacts Man Camp has had for you personally? Sure.
Well, my biggest encouragement would be just a snippet of my testimony being that I saw myself as a Christian, saw myself as someone who lived right by the Lord. And what I found out shortly, just a couple days into camp, I realized that my foundation was just based on sand. And, you know, if I don't do something now, it's going to it's going to start sinking. And I don't know what you don't know.
Right. And I had no clue that my foundation was so feeble. But after Man Camp, I went home to my wife and she said, I really don't recognize you. You look like a completely different person. And I think from that point forward, it was no matter how far away I get from my religion, whether it's a bad day or a bad month or whatever, I've always got a base to return to.
And before I didn't know what that base looked like. So I'm I'm no longer off the hook. I'm very much on the hook now. So just having that knowledge in that that wisdom of of just what a relationship with the Lord looks like now, it's he's reeled me back in. And I've been able to to follow his path a lot.
I can only imagine a ton more had I not attended camp. So so would it be fair to say, you know, you come in with let me maybe just say a shallow relationship at best or and or maybe maybe not a relationship at all? I mean, we do have guys who come who think they have a relationship and God reveals to them, no, you have religion.
You don't have a relationship. And they establish a relationship at camp or other guys who come in with a very shallow relationship. And one of the ways you describe it was a life built on sand. But you you departed from camp knowing, knowing down deep in your knower. My life is now built upon the rock.
And so some of the tools you were given, some of the equipping and teaching you learned in the time you had a camp really solidified that relationship and has made a profound difference in your life since that time. Would that be fair to say? It'd be extremely fair.
I was I would fall under the category of a shallow relationship that I didn't even know that it was shallow, but I was just checking the boxes. Wow. Well, and now you come back and you staff camp and you know, for the for the for the women out there and even for the men, you know, what one encouraging word to consider coming to camp, what would you say? Have faith. And I know that's so hard for people to do in a world that's lacking so much faith. Just just have faith in, you know, if I'm speaking to the to the wives out there, you know, you can't make him go, but you can gently, gently approach that situation. No, Jim, encourage him. Bless. Give him your blessing. Right. Right. And anyway, you can take a take a load off of his plate.
You know what? I've got the kids, stuff like that. Then, you know, a wife would tell a husband who's about to go away for close to a week. I would just encourage you with that. And, you know, keep the keep the pressure off. Yeah, that's good advice.
And or, you know, maybe you're dating a guy or you're engaged to a guy or get ready to get married to a guy. And I assure you, if you encourage him, nudge him to consider man camp to go to coal off dot net. If you want to learn more about camp, go to just click on the link coal off dot net. You'll see some incredible testimonies. Well, testimonies from wives like like Josh is referring to, but many other testimonies from from men who've come and whose lives have been impacted. And many of which have looked me in the eyes come the final day and said, this was life changing.
Those four words are what I hear the most. And so I want to encourage you to to check that out. And if you're a man out there, you know, for to consider, consider it. And I've heard after doing over 80 of these camps since 2006, facilitating them and organizing them. I think I've heard every excuse under the sun as to why a man can't come and carve out just a few days and dedicate those back to Jesus. Back to the Lord. Men from all walks of life, from multimillionaires to picking up a guy hitchhiking on the side of the road through South Carolina.
We've had men from from every walk of life attend and come to camp and and be impacted in some form or fashion. So all that. OK, all that to say. So last but not least, you know, recently I was with a doctor friend of mine and he was telling me I need to buy a piece of property and build a barn dominium. And I'm like, a barn to what? And he's like a barn dominium, dude.
Have you never heard of him? I don't have a clue what you're talking about. And so he he pulled up some videos that piqued my interest.
I went home. I pulled up a video. I hear a familiar voice and I'm like, wait a minute. That's Josh Oglesby. Oh, my gosh.
You know, this video of yours has gone, I think at the time, in 129,000 views. And so so you're down there involved, engaged in and put some cutting edge, pretty cutting edge virtual tours of homes, et cetera, in Greenville and the Greenville, South Carolina market. And I know it's a new venture for you, Josh. And and take a minute. Talk about, you know, you know, what you can offer and then how people can just connect with you.
Sure. Well, I was just blessed years ago by a real estate agent who was helping me find my first home in 2010. And the way I was guided through that process and really ushered through it, not having a clue if I was 20 at the time and she was just a just a mother figure to me. And I thought, wow, if I'd heard horror stories about other real estate agents and I thought if I could if I could do that, what she just did, if I could do that for my people, my clients, then then the world needs somebody like that.
So I strive to do that. I help a lot of out of state folks just with the way that I market. That's kind of what is attracting what I'm attracting.
So if you're out of state of South Carolina, looking to move to South Carolina, I would say that's my my niche or niche. And that's that's what I can offer. I'm just a friend you're shopping with. That's what I like to tell people if you're looking for a home.
Well, and I want to encourage you, go go on, go on YouTube, look up how I found it was was the pros and cons of barn dominiums. And I think that might be one of the easiest ways to connect with Josh. But and or is there a specific address or so you could send them to Josh?
Sure, I would just say go to YouTube and type in upstate SC living and you should shouldn't have a problem finding my page. And it's it's got my my face. I know we're on the phone so you don't know what that looks like.
Prettiest face for radio right there. Just just kidding. So so upstate SC stands for South Carolina upstate SC living and you'll find Josh Oglesby.
That's correct. And I've got a multitude of ways on that front page of how you can reach out to me. There's a number of different ways where it's a virtual call that you can book with me.
OK. Online a phone call or you can just email. OK. South Carolina, Greenville, South Carolina area. If you're looking to relocate back into that market. Hey, maybe you'll catch him in live wrestling action somewhere down in that area as well. You're listening to the Truth Network and Truth Network dot com. So this Q&A with Koloff. So let's take take a moment, Josh. The Segway to and I have no clue what you're going to ask me, but let's fire away with your first question. OK. My I've just got three for you.
I'll keep it very light hearted. You've you've traveled the world. You've been to all of the states, if I'm not mistaken. Yep. And so I don't think I've ever heard you talk about where you're if you had to pick a favorite place or or top two or something like that.
Where's your favorite place that you visited? Just the world wide apps. Yes.
Just across the world, across the world. Gosh, I have. So just to put it in perspective, for those who maybe don't know, this is where this is where I could put a shameless plug in for Nikita. A tale of the Ring of Redemption, where you can get my full story either in hard form, a copy, autographed copy form on Koloff dot net. Or I went in the studio last year, this very studio I'm sitting in today and in my own voice, narrated my life story that's available now on on audiobook or whatever that's called.
Go to Amazon and wherever you can go. What's it called? Audible. Yeah, that, too. Yes.
So but Nikita, A Tale of the Ring and Redemption. But all that to say, all 50 states, as you mentioned, 36 different countries. So to ask me that question, distill it down to one or two favorite, favorite places here.
Here's how about if I just kind of like rapid fire answers, right. The things that pop in my head, like seeing the Grand Canyon in a full blown blizzard. That was how I first ever saw the Grand Canyon in a full blown blizzard where it was 32 degrees at the top of the canyon. One third of it was was was white and then 72 degrees at the bottom of the canyon and the two thirds of it was brown.
So, so bleach white at the top one third, freezing cold, 32 degrees, right. The Grand Canyon or riding at the time, one of the fastest trains on the planet in Japan and feeling like you're not even moving was an incredible experience. Flying a 43 million dollar flight simulator in Seoul, South Korea.
Why did I do that? It wasn't because I was in the military, but the road warriors, Animal and Hawk and I, we were we were on a a tour in South Korea doing prayer breakfasts, prayer luncheons and some some services in the evenings on on military, on army bases. And a general lined it up for us to fly for them first, which for the record, one of them crashed it. True story.
I did not. However, I was able to land it, although I landed it in enemy territory. True story. Can't make this up.
I still landed it. And but the three of us got to go up to what's called the DMZ and literally stand on the dividing line between North and South Korea. And in Alaska, going deep sea fishing for halibut in Alaska.
And they're riding a four wheeler up so high up the mountaintop that we are above the cloud lines and sat in a patch of wild blueberries that to date are still the best tasting blueberries I've ever had as we just literally pick them off the vine. The pastor took me out on that little excursion in. And so I mean, gosh, Josh, from from from Cruz's to and I'll tag one more in because because I want to tie in some some ministry here to Lex Luger and I in Jamaica sharing our testimony and story before seventy three, over seventy three thousand people at an outdoor crusade to where we saw literally thousands make a decision that evening to give their life to Jesus. So just a handful of experiences, man, that I have had over the years and I go into a lot more detail, honestly, like seriously. But, you know, I know I mentioned the book, but a lot more stories and pictures and everything else in the Ring of Redemption book.
But there's a few. So great question, Josh. Never, never been asked that that I can recall.
So great question. Well, if you're an overachiever, you overachieved that answer. So thank you for that. Is that a nice way of saying I was very long winded, Josh? Is that what you're trying to say? No. OK. All right. Question number two. OK, this will cater to the to the wrestling audience. OK.
So if one of the big companies out there today gave you a call and asked you to be a part of their company, whether it be on screen role or behind the scenes role, what might your answer be to that? So OK. So but now by on screen, are you saying I have to put, as my daughters call it, my onesie back on? Your onesie. I go, it's a singlet, girls. That is not a onesie.
It's a singlet. They're action figures. They're not dolls. Exactly. Boom. Exactly. So so you're not talking in ring.
But by on screen, you just mean maybe I'm just in front of the camera versus being behind the scenes and not on camera. Is that what you're talking about? Correct. Correct. I know you're wrestling days, as you've put it, are over.
So just a managerial role, a commissioner role. OK. OK. Well, yeah, because I want to remain. You know, people are all like encouraging me all the time. Just do a one off. Just do a one off. You know, the other guys have done it. And I'm like, you know, I think I remain in in rare air and be one of the few guys that retired and actually stayed retired. Like like hold to hold hold to, you know, to my morals or you might say or hold, you know, anyway. Wow. You know, I don't think I've ever been asked that one either, or at least not in that that way.
I would say so. Just my initial response, I think would be I might not necessarily immediately dismiss it. OK. And what I would not to over spiritualize this answer, but I would probably say I would take it before the Lord, because I have said this in the past. Lord, if you want me back in that arena, you know, outside of autograph signings, comic cons, wrestle cons, legends, you know, events, et cetera, that then open that door. And, you know, I don't feel like he ever did. I feel like, you know, he made it pretty clear. Ministry is where your heart and passion needs to be first and foremost.
And you can still go out and do the signings and mingle with the fans that way. But so I would have to I would have to take it before the Lord and and see if I felt I had confirmation from him in a green light before I, you know, would make the decision to say yes to that organization. OK, I couldn't think of a better action plan. Yes. Yes, sir. OK. You got one more, you said? Yes, sir. One more. Who would play Nikita Kolov in the Nikita Kolov movie slash documentary?
Man, wow. I got to really put my thinking cap on for that one. And, you know, Stone Cold would have made a pretty good replica of Nikita. You know, my my joke is, you know, you know, he wasn't always Stone Cold right before he shaved his head and took it out, took on my likeness.
Ha ha ha. You know, the avid wrestling fan would know him as stunning Steve Austin. But wow, I don't know. Could it be anybody like it doesn't and it doesn't matter, you know, if they're an old actor, young or does it can it be anybody?
I guess I'm thinking I'm thinking, you know, your your college days transitioning. So maybe a younger actor. But but if you're not, you know, a big movie buff for current movies, then sure, you could say, yeah, I'm not there. You know, back in the day when I shaved my head, you know, bald wasn't necessarily beautiful, right? I mean, in other words, there weren't that many bald guys. OK. And back when I broke into pro wrestling, I mean, there was Ivan Koloff.
Uncle Ivan, you know, is for, you know, maybe a couple of the rest of what. But there was actor Telly Savalas. An actor, Yul Brenner. And so those are the two probably the two most famous, you know, actor bald guys. And and I always loved Yul Brenner's acting. And and, you know, so he's, you know, some some of the younger listeners to the show are not even going to they're going to have to Google that to even see who Yul Brenner is. But, you know, if I was going for a very, very schooled actor, one that I thought could could carry it out, carried off Yul Brenner would would be my pick as far as picking an actor. And yeah, because I'm just still I don't know enough of of the younger guys that that if if somebody came to me right now and said, hey, we want to do your movie next year.
I guess I would have to, Josh, really lean on the director, producer, those guys to suggest who they think would be a good fit to be a young Nikita Koloff. Oh, that's I hope that's not a cop out. No, not at all. OK. All right. So, well, man, those are some great questions. Thank you, Josh. And thank you for being a part of Q&A today. It's been my pleasure. Thank you so much for having me. And I just want to encourage all of you out there in the listening world and listening land.
