This is the Truth Network. Satan's nightmare, Nakia Koloff. This is a war. This is one war that needs to be settled. What a brawl!
What a fight! And it's out of control here. That's a bad man. No, that's a bad man. You know it.
That's a bad man. Any time, any place, night, day—I don't care. I'm only a phone call away, my friend. Welcome to another episode of Q and A with Koloff, the Devil's Nightmare. Welcome back, Q and A with Koloff: Questions and Answers, and this show is just always so much fun for me because it gives you the opportunity to ask me some questions, and I have no clue what you're going to ask most of the time.
And with me today, all the way from Rock Hill, South Carolina, is Pastor Ray Breakfield. Ray, welcome to Q and A. Thank you, thank you for having me.
Well, it's great to have you, and of course, you know we're no stranger to one another. We we go all the way back to 2021 when when you attended one of our our man camps that Lex Luger and I had a vision for many many many years ago, and of course, it was pretty impactful. I we won't give a whole lot away. I'll just encourage people. Make sure and go over to the Man Up Show.
It's time to man up to get Ray's full story on how how he was impacted by the camp and how that's led to launching a church. We'll talk about that in a minute. But before we came on air, Ray, you we were just talking about men and the role of men, and you know, you were saying how you were thankful that Lexi and I put this this camp together for what it teaches men. Take a minute. And talk about what you see lacking in in in the family today.
Well, when we're growing up as as little boys, our fathers teach us how to work on a car and how to unclog a drain and how to build a you know a set of steps or build a deck or replace a doorknob, replace a faucet. You know, your job is to go to work and pay the bills and take care of the yard and you know supply your children and your house with whatever it needs. But a lot of fathers, I'd say ninety five percent of them. Don't teach the fundamental of what it means to be a godly husband and father, to how how to have a relationship with God. And a lot of times it's left on mothers.
But as young men, we look up to our fathers, and what we see, that's what we do. We we we mimic that. We we do that. I want to be like my dad, you know. But Lord, have mercy.
If if we were, if fathers would look at it differently and say, the most important thing I can do for my young man and my son is to teach them how to be a godly father and husband, and how to have a relationship—not religion, but have a real relationship with Jesus Christ. That's the best way I can equip him for life. If man camp shows us how to have that and obtain that, because. Just like anything, if if you want to play ball, you practice. If if you want to be a baker, you practice baking.
Or you want to be a cook, you practice cooking. If you want to be a mechanic, you practice working on vehicles. But in order to have a relationship with you, we got to dive in and get into our Bibles and and and learn to talk to God. You know, like He's our best friend because He is. Yeah, and His Son to die for us.
Yeah. Yeah, and we miss that. Yeah, well, and and many families, right?
Now, in in that same vein, you know, unfortunately, you know, if the dad doesn't have that foundation or those fundamentals for himself, exactly, then then it's hard to teach that to your kids, right? If if you don't have those fundamentals, and and so you know, you bring up some some very very valid points, and that is part of the hope and part of the goal for the campus to equip guys to. To go back home, whether to be that dad, that granddad, us, that son, or young men come and who are not even yet married, and hopefully, what they learn at man camp are some things that will set the stage for their future marriage and and family, right? As as a husband and a dad, and so, well, that's that's it's powerful. I know.
Again, we talked at more more at length at just how how camp transformed not only your Life, but but restored your marriage, and and we'll just I was kind of tease the audience with that for them if they want to go hear more, but it also led you to to launching launching a biker church just a number of years ago in Acts based off of Acts two four two right. Yes, sir. That is correct. And of course, I was—I had the privilege. You invited me down for you.
You had—you had been hosting it in a in a garage. Am I correct? Yes, sir. I actually baptized my youngest son in that church with no heat, no air. The water was twenty three degrees that we baptized him in that day.
Okay, I bet that woke him up. It did. He said, "Dad, you got to stop talking and get this thing done." Because I'm freezing. He was turning blue. I was gonna say, he had the shivers going on there.
I can't imagine. He did. You know, I had—I tell you—so a quick, funny story related to that. One of our camps one year, when we first started doing water baptisms at camp at this, we weren't yet down in Royston. Georgia, we were at another another place, and there was a river that ran behind our facility.
And guys, like we really want to get baptized, and of course, everybody's looking at me as the leader and going, "Well, you need to do it." I am like, "Ah." All right, I have to say for the record, was not thrilled about about stepping into an unknown river. Just for the record, sir. And then on top of that, when I did step in, oh my gosh, the water was so cold, and I'm like, how how how many are we doing? Like, oh my gosh! And I said, I said, I said, I don't know that I'll ever do that again.
Now, fast forward real quick. I was doing some camps in Michigan, and it was in the spring. But you know, up north, it can still snow into. May into the month of May, and so this property had a big lake on it.
Well, the night before our final night, it snowed that night. We woke up the next morning and there's snow, and all the guys had talked about getting baptized, and so it's a pretty big group and several churches represented. And I I looked around; they're all looking at me as the leader, and I said, "You know," I said, "I'm not even from Michigan." I go, "I tell you what would be more impactful." More meaningful, and that's for each of your pastors to baptize you. Baptize you, and all the pastors. Oh, they're all looking at me like, "Oh, thanks a lot, Nikita." And and so they did, like four four or five different pastors.
He took turns baptizing their their parishioners, and what was all said and done. I said, "Well, how how did it go?" They they go, "Oh, I don't don't. You better never do that ever again. You don't put us in that position." But so I wiggled my way out of that one. You know, but the river—the river story taught me that, right?
So anyway, well, how can Ray? How can people? How can they find out about? Like, I mean, a biker church—pretty cool. Because when I came down, I don't know, you had about—I don't know—ten, fifteen, twenty bikes lining up in a row there, which is which is a pretty cool deal.
Take take just a minute and tell us how how the the how it's going because you're in a brand new building. How's that going? It's going great. We our homecoming service, which was our first service, you came and preached, spoke there, and that we had ninety people. The following Sunday we had thirty five.
The follow the Sunday after that we had twenty two, which was bike week. But I had fifteen people going to the beach then for bike week. Last Sunday we had thirty six. And this Sunday we should run about the same. Attendance is great.
People are hungry. People are are striving to have relationship with God.
Now I told him it's not about some little prayer you go down and say at the altar because you feel guilty about some message the preacher preached. You felt like he was stepping on your toes. It's about actually cons. Deciding to give your life to Him and make Him Lord of your life, you must have a relationship. To have a relationship with your wife or your girlfriend or your husband or or your children, you put in time, you invest in that.
That's how you have a relationship with God. It's through His Son Jesus you have a relationship with Him. You invest that time. You give yourself to that. That's how we do that, you know.
I I I'm preaching Sunday on it matters. Daniel didn't pray for the lions to be taken away. David didn't pray for the Goliath to be taken away. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn't pray for the fire to be taken away. the the the lame Didn't ask, didn't go to Jesus.
His friends with it matters who your circle is. It matters who you run with. It matters what you do out this world because every day we're out here in this world, we get more and more crap on us and and muck and dirt. How do we get rid of that? Jesus cleanses us of that.
They all prayed for God to be with them, no matter what the outcome was. Wow, that's powerful.
Well, if you're in the Rock Hill area, you just got a taste of what you're going to experience at at the 242 Biker Church. And Ray, what's what's how can people find 242 Biker Church Facebook? We are on Facebook. We have a Facebook page. It's called the 242 Biker Church.
We're located at 2678.
South Anderson Road in Catawba, South Carolina, two nine seven zero four. We're on the corner of Highway twenty one and Hall Spencer, and I'm excited for what's happening there.
Well, it is Q and A with Koloff. We appreciate you sharing some some of the story this today, and I want to give you the opportunity to ask me a couple of questions. And so let's let's turn it around here, and if you want to fire away with your first question for Me, all right. Go for it. Do you wish, do, when you were wrestling back then?
Do you wish you to decided sooner to go into the, into the Mishkoloff for Christ Ministry that you have now, and do you think? It would be bigger, or do you think God just had that plan for a reason? It's it's a good question. I. Because you know, back in the wrestling days, I mean, you know, a relationship with Jesus was not in the forefront, nor was it much, much of a conversation with with any of us.
I mean, you know, we we we were focused on our our careers, focused on ourselves, very you know, very selfish, and and only wanted what was best for ourselves. And so, I you know, I don't know that had I come to Christ early. Year, I may not have stayed in in wrestling as long as I did. I don't know that I would have stayed in wrestling at all had I had I come to Christ and and then launching Cola for Christ Ministries didn't immediately happen after I did come to Christ. Eleven months after I left wrestling, there was actually about a five year window there where I went through a process of discipleship and was mentored.
Before the Lord began to open doors. For Cola for Christ Ministries.
Now, clearly, I can see where where the wrestling, in a sense, was a training ground for me. From the sense of of travel, you know, driving to towns, flying to cities, and you know, speaking in front of audiences. All of that, in a sense, was kind of like a training ground for me to later become an evangelist and a minister and be able to. Drive to towns and fly to cities and and do all that I'm doing and so, yeah. I and and I would say too, it was almost kind of like, you know, God.
God has a God has a plan, and although it wasn't necessarily my plan, I came to find out he had he had a plan. I I was working what I thought was my plan, come to find out he had a plan, and when I found out what his plan was, it was much better than my plan. Yeah. So, great question. Great question.
You got one. You got one more for me. Got another one for me. What was What was the defining thing that happened that made you decide you needed a relationship, and you needed to give your life to Christ?
So I I would say you know so I leave wrestling November 1992, and I and I'm at a in a A season, or I'm in a place where, trying to figure out, you know, what life holds next for Nikita Koloff. Like, what's next? And at the time, I, you know, I had some health clubs, and and but I'm like, I just don't feel like that's what I want to do the rest of my life. I mean, I enjoy doing it. I enjoy helping people with their workouts.
I enjoy helping people set up meal plans and and eating and and educating them them on supplement. And all of that, I enjoyed that. It was, I was passionate about that. But I, I didn't sense that that was what I was going to do the rest of my life. And and I also sensed, you know, that there was still something missing.
I'm an eight time world wrestling champion. I've got, you know, some notoriety, you know, recognition, face recognition, name recognition. But yet, I'm still deep down inside. You know, feel like something's still missing. Of course, I've come to learn now that that there's a God-shaped hole in all of our hearts, and that the only thing that can fill that that void, fill that hole, is a relationship with Jesus.
What what you were what you were talking about. And and many people, men, women, even children, you know, try to fill it with a lot of other things, right? Whether it's success in sports or climbing the corporate ladder, or drugs, alcohol, sex—I mean, just fill in the blank of what people try to fill that void, that hole with, only to find out it's they're still empty. They still realize at the end of the day something's still missing, and and so for me, I'd met a Christian couple. Through another business venture that I was involved in, they invited me a few times to their church, and it was just a divine moment, a divine appointment for me to say I'll be there Sunday.
They said we'll meet you there, and that very first time walking through the doors of that church, I found myself Ray at the altar. On my knees, confessing, repenting, opening my heart, and asking Jesus to to come in. And it was in that moment I write about it in one of my books, Wrestling with Success, that I it was in that moment that I realized for the very first time my life had a greater Purpose than just entertaining people in a squared circle, as we affectionately called it, and came to learn that there there was an actual what's what's termed a call on my life for ministry, and now of course the last twenty years specifically men's ministry, and now I get the privilege of hearing incredible stories of transformation like yours, Ray.
So pretty powerful. Can I ask you one more question? We do. We have time. We we can squeeze one more in.
Go for it. Have you planned your exit? Have I planned my exit? What will man can't be able to continue on? Will lives continue to still be able to be changed and transformed through man?
Can't what you started once God decides to take you home.
So, so kind of a loaded question there, Ray. But so, so I'm trying to plan mine now because I want this to continue on.
Well, no, I and no, and I appreciate the question, and I don't think I've been asked that one before. But so, I have worked diligently at training up other leaders as part of man camp with with certain staff members. That I do believe, you know, if I were to go home to be with the Lord, certainly several of them could, you know, if they were led to, could certainly step in and and take the reins and continue continue the camp. But I'm going to add a little caveat to that too.
So beyond just the camp itself, because actually, I have I've given thought to. You know what, my you know in churches are are called like some call it a celebration, some call it a homegoing, right? Yeah. Some would know it as a funeral, right? And I'm like, what would that look like for me?
And so I have been making notations of certain songs that I would want played there at my celebration, my homegoing, as well as. The gospel message, the the plan of salvation, being presented for anyone that might be in the audience that day and not have that personal relationship with Jesus, like we're talking about. In case people are wondering, in case you're wondering, Ray, I'll give I'll give one song, one song, "Amazing Grace," on the bagpipes. I just did that for my neighbor who passed away Saturday in a fire across the street from me. Oh wow!
And my my driver here at work plays the bagpipes, and he and I were talking about. Death and when our time comes, and he said, "I just want one thing when I go." He said, "I want somebody to play those dang bagpipes for me." He said, "I love Amazing Grace on the bagpipes," and we did that last night at a memorial service for his family in their front yard yesterday. There, there you go. And and the backstory on that is, without going into greater detail, in sake of time, that I have not Russian roots, but. I have a lots of Scottish roots, and so even as a youngster, I had an affinity for the bagpipes.
Didn't know why until my mom enlightened me to some some of the heritage there.
