All right, we continue looking at what the Bible says about the end times, what the Bible says about the last days, these days in which we live, what the Bible says about the second coming, the return of Jesus. And I want to take a look at some Old Testament passages, but do a little recap. Some of you will be familiar with this, some of it will be new, but look at the Israelite calendar, the biblical calendar, and see how that refers to the first and second comings of Jesus, prophetically speaking. Now what's interesting, in Genesis 1.14, when God establishes the sun, the moon, the stars, that one of the reasons he does it is for Mo'adim, Mo'adim in Hebrew.
Now that is the plural of Mo'ad, which is a sacred time or a specific appointment, a festival, and it could mean seasons, right, so the sun, the moon are there for seasons, but it could mean for sacred festivals, that God put the sun, the moon, the stars in the world to keep time, because you know that you have the new moon, this would be the beginning of the new month, you count things from there, so it's a very legitimate reading of Genesis 1.14 to say that God put the stars, the moon, the sun in place for the purpose, not just of day and night, but also for the purpose of the Mo'adim, the sacred appointed times. Alright, so we know that the biblical calendar starts, it would be March, April on our calendar, and according to that, Exodus 12, this will be the first month to you, it's the Passover month, so it begins the 14th day of the first month on the biblical calendar is Passover, and that of course coincides with the death of Jesus. He is our Passover Lamb, 1 Corinthians 5.7, he's referred to as our Passover. John 1.29, John the Immerser says, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
1 Peter 1 tells us he's as a lamb predestined to slaughter before the foundation of the world, we have that reflected in the book of Revelation as well. He dies in conjunction with Passover, he rises the first day after the Sabbath of Passover, which is Resurrection Sunday, and that coincides then with first fruits, so this takes place within Passover first fruits, and then from there you count 50 days, and you get to Shavuot Pentecost, the Feast of Weeks, and that's when the Holy Spirit is poured out. Now in Jewish tradition, the Feast of Weeks corresponds to when God gave the law on Mount Sinai, and according to Jewish tradition, God spoke in many, many different languages, and in fire, we know from fire, he spoke with fire out of the fire in Exodus 19-24, we know that's the case, as the glory of the Lord is on Mount Sinai like a consuming fire, but it's interesting, in later Jewish tradition, God speaks out of the fire with many different languages because there was the mixed multitude that came out of Egypt with the Israelites. So this is in Jewish tradition, it's interesting, isn't it? We don't know how ancient that tradition was, did it go back to New Testament times?
We don't know. But we know for sure the fulfillment is when the Holy Spirit is poured out in Pentecost with tongues of fire. And interestingly, because of Israel's sin and rebellion in Exodus the 32nd chapter, as a result of their sin and rebellion, building the golden calf, making the golden calf, about 3,000 Israelites are killed by the Levites.
We know when the Holy Spirit is poured out at Shavuot Pentecost that 3,000 Israelites are saved. So the parallels are there and strong and dramatic, and now you have a period of several months, you have a period of several months, and now what happens is you have the fall feasts. So this is the seventh month of the biblical calendar. The first day of that month is Yom Teruah, the day of what?
The trumpet blast, the sounding of the trumpet. In later Jewish tradition, that actually becomes the new year, Rosh Hashanah. So the Jewish new year begins not with partying, but with sobriety with the blast of the trumpet. But in biblical days, this is now the seventh month, and the first day is the trumpet blast.
It's the wake-up call to the nation. Ten days later is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, when cleansing comes to the nation. And five days after that, the eight-day celebration of Sukkot Tabernacles, the feast of booths in a time of rejoicing and remembering the wilderness wanderings and God's faithfulness in the midst of those. All right, so the spring feasts also spoke prophetically of the death and resurrection of Yeshua and the sending of the Spirit. The fall feasts speak prophetically of what? Of his return, of the salvation of Israel, and of the ingathering of the nations.
So where do you get that from? Okay, so let's break this down. These were actual feasts in Israel, and these celebrations or these fast days continue in Judaism to this day, and many Messianic Jewish congregations will celebrate these Christian friends will also join in because these were known as the appointed times of the Lord's. This was his calendar. Some folks say, hey, why use a later calendar when we've got the biblical calendar? As long as you don't do it in a legalistic way or think it'll make you more spiritual, as long as Jesus Yeshua is always central and you're not trying to add to the work of the cross, hey, nothing wrong with keeping the biblical calendar, right? Where does it say you can't or you shouldn't?
Or replace it with a later calendar or an American calendar or a later church calendar? Where is that written? So certainly the first apostles, the disciples, the Jewish believers, they kept this. And some of the early Gentile converts like Corinth and other places, they were going to the synagogue. There were God-fearing Gentiles going to the synagogue. Now they're meeting the Messiah for themselves. They don't have to become Jewish, but they were familiar with the Jewish calendar. That's why Paul can talk about firstfruits, can talk about Passover to the Corinthians because some of them were quite familiar with it having gone to the synagogue before they were saved. In fact, that's where they first heard Paul preach was in a synagogue. So, why do I say that the fall feasts speak of his return?
Well, several things. One, it's with the trumpet blast. This is the conspicuous thing we found in Matthew 24 and 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4 and Revelation 11. This is a consistent thing that he's coming back with the sound of the trumpet. So, of course, we're waiting for his future return, we're waiting for the fulfillment of the fall feasts.
The spring feasts came to pass, we're waiting for the fulfillment of the fall. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5, 17? I didn't come to abolish the law of the prophets but to fulfill.
He fulfills Israel's calendar too. Now, you have a 10-day period, a 10-day period from the trumpet blast, from the Feast of Trumpets until Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement. What does 10 signify in Scripture? It's the number of testing, the number of testing. God tells the Israelites, tells Moses, you've tested me 10 times. Job tells his friends, you've tested me 10 times. Daniel asks to be tested for 10 days in Babylon. Revelation 2 speaks of the church in Smyrna.
It will be tested for 10 days. You even have the 10 commandments. So, 10 is the number of testing in Scripture. For those who believe in the preacher of rapture, you say, well, that's it. Trumpet blasts were called out to meet him and then the time of tribulation on the earth and Israel's salvation.
I don't understand it in that way but I get your point, see where you're coming from with that. But here we've got a 10-day period. This is a time of national repentance. This is a time of Israel reflecting and recognizing its sin and being purged and cleansed leading up to the Day of Atonement. And then five days after that, you have Sukkot Tabernacles and interestingly, if you go through Numbers 29, you'll look that on the first day, they sacrificed 13 bulls, then the second 12, then third 11, until at the end, they've sacrificed 70 bulls. And 70 in the ancient Jewish world was the number of the nations of the world based on the table of nations in Genesis 10.
The 70 nations of the world. And therefore, this became a time when the Jewish community would pray for rain for the nations every year, would pray for the nations during the Feast of Tabernacles. Now, I've contended, and many teachers of Scripture have believed this, this is nothing new for me, not some new insight, that just as the spring feasts correspond to the death, resurrection of Jesus and sitting of the Spirit, so the fall feasts correspond with his return and with the repentance of Israel and with the ingathering of the nations.
Does the Old Testament say it even more explicitly in terms of that chronology? Yes, it does. We'll open it up on the other side of this important announcement.

Let us open up the Scriptures again, starting in Zechariah 12. My understanding and the understanding of many, spring feasts clearly correspond to the death, resurrection of the Messiah, sending of his spirit, Passover, firstfruits, Pentecost, Shavuot.
Then, what happens next? You have the return of the Lord with the trumpet, the salvation of Israel, the ingathering of the nations. So we go to Zechariah 12.
Verse 1, the oracle of the word of the Lord concerning Israel thus declares the Lord who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him. Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the people. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves and all the nations of the earth will gather against it. It hasn't happened yet.
I know people try to find ways to show how this has happened. It hasn't happened yet. On that day, declares the Lord, I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah, I will keep my eyes open. When I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness, then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, the inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts their God. On that day, I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of the wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves and they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place in Jerusalem.
Again, this has not yet happened. And the Lord will give salvation to the tents of Judah first that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah. On that day, the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David and the house of David shall be like God like the angel of the Lord going before them. And on that day, I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem and I will pour out on the house of David the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy so that when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly over him as one weeps over a firstborn. That has not happened.
He was pierced, John 19, so that this can't happen, to fulfill that they will look on him whom they pierced. But this, this national turning, it has not yet happened. Friends, I live for this on a certain level every day of my life. I long and breathe and believe for this on a certain level every day of my life. I say on a certain level, meaning this is not the only thing I'm thinking about, but it's always the dream to see the salvation of my people. What Jeremiah 31 one speaks of, on that day I'll be the God of all the families of Israel. It's what Paul speaks of in Romans 11 26 and all Israel will be saved, speaking of the physical nation, not of spiritual Israel or church, speaking clearly in context of the love the Jewish people as a whole. On that day, and here's the time of testing and sifting, on that day the morning in Jerusalem will be as great as the morning for Hadadrimon and the plaintiff Megiddo. The land shall mourn, each family by itself, the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves, the house of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves. The family has Levi by itself and their wives by themselves. The family of the Shemites by itself and the wise by themselves. the families that are left each by itself and their wives by themselves on that day there shall be a fountain open for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness sounds like the day of atonement doesn't it no it doesn't use the word atone but it uses other language they're cleansing from sin and uncleanness other atonement language yes so the return of the lord corresponds with trumpets and that's when they look to me but he beat to a lie to shed the cara of self-doubt and they'll look to the one they've pierced and they'll mourn over him look to me they've pierced the mourn over him yes it's going to happen and then what that's is that is that going to bring about national cleansing for israel national repentance the 10 days leading up to yom kippur repentance cleansing and then five days after that so now we have more prophecies and some going back to the time of jesus in zechariah 13 and now the final coming zechariah chapter 14 verse 1 behold a day is coming for the lord when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst for i will gather all the nations against jerusalem to battle again that has not happened yet and the city shall be taken and the house is plundered and the women raped so there will be final calamity remember there's gonna be final shaking all around the world if i could be a jewish person anywhere in the world at the end of the age i'd be in jerusalem i'd be in israel there's gonna be final attack but they're promises of protection then the lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle so half of the city will go into exile the rest of the people will not be cut off in the city then the lord will go out and fight against those nations is when he fights on a day of battle on that day his feet shall stand on the mount of olives just as it says in acts 1 as he left he's going to return here it is written on that day his feet shall stand on the mount of olives that lies before jerusalem on the east and the amount of olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley so that one half of the mount shall move northward and the other half southward and you shall flee to the valley of my mountains for the valley of the mountains shall reach to us all you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of usai king of judah then the lord my god will come and all the holy ones with him on that day there shall be no light cold or frost so we're caught up with him we return with him and and with the angels as well what a scene on that day there shall be no light cold or frost and there shall be a unique day which is known for the lord neither day nor night but at evening time there shall be life on that day living waters shall flow out from jerusalem half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea it shall continue in summer as in winter and the lord will be king over all the earth on that day the lord will be one in his name one this has not yet happened friends but it's going to now look at this the whole land shall be turned into a plane from gave out to remoan south of jerusalem but jerusalem shall remain aloft on its site from the gate of benjamin to the place of the former gate to the corner gate from the town of hananel to the king's wine presses and it shall be inhabited for there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction jerusalem shall dwell in security friends that has not happened yet has it now look at this and this shall be the plague with which the lord will strike all the peoples that wage war against jerusalem their flesh will rot while they're still standing on their feet their eyes will rot in their sockets their tongues will rot in their mouths and on that day a great panic from the lord shall fall on them so that each will seize the hand of another and the hand of the woman will be raised against the hand of the other even juda will fight at jerusalem and the wealth of all the surrounding nations shall be collected gold silver and garments and great abundance and a plague like this plague shall fall on the horses the mules the camels the donkeys and whatever beasts may be in those camps then everyone remember our sequence here fall feast right remember the sequence the return of the lord corresponds with trumpets they'll look at me if they pierced then what's next day of atonement cleansing for the nation on that day a fountain will be open for cleansing right so zechariah 12 10 they'll look to me if they pierced zechariah 13 1 fountain for cleansing and now what's next tabernacles tabernacles is that next on the calendar is that culmination yes it is listen what it says then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the king the lord of hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles there it is friends explicitly spelled out it's going to happen in the millennial kingdom the survivors of the nations that attack jerusalem which then will grow and fill the earth in abundance they will come up year by year and celebrate the feast of tabernacles it's the end gathering of the nations and if any of the families of the earth do not go up to jerusalem to worship the king the lord of hosts there'll be no rain on them if the family of egypt does not go up and present themselves then on them there will be no rain and there shall be a plague the plague that the lord afflicts the nations that do not do not go up to keep the feast of booths there shall be the punishment to egypt and the punishment to all the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of booths friends i'm not making this up it's all there laid out in the word and i am not a pre-trib dispensationalist i simply believe what scripture says we will be here through thick and thin protected through all tribulation and testing we will be standing side by side the jew and gentile as jesus returns we will be caught up to meet him in the air with the blast of the trumpets we will descend together with him as he sets up his kingdom and brings national cleansing to israel day of atonement and then the survivors of the nations that attack jerusalem will come up to worship the king at the feast of trumpets how glorious and wonder the feast of tabernacles how glorious and wonderful it's going to be exactly when we don't know but we know these things will happen and therefore we live godly lives and therefore we look at the bible and say it's true the scattering of the jewish people happen as he said the destruction of the temple happened as he said the preservation of the jewish people happen as he said bring us back to the land it's happened as he said the scriptures are clear which is why around the world as i travel around the world people who haven't heard all this teaching just reading the bible they know that it is god who brought the jewish people back to the land and we're getting closer and closer to the end all right this is dr michael brown thanks so much
