It's so good to see you here in the new Clearview Today studio. The only thing I don't like is we're on the couch. We've got a couch now, but I feel it's in the distance.

And I'm not talking about just like physical distance. Like, I feel like you're angry. I mean, you're short-tempered, you're mad, you're like... Anyway, Dr. Shah, get a seat. No, I was turning my shoulder to you.

Let me ask you this, Dr. Shah. If you see someone, if they're like, hey, you can come sit next to me, and they pat the seat. Yeah, I'm not going there. You can ask me to come sit there, but don't pat the seat.

I'm not going there. Yeah, don't rub it. You can't rub the seat. That's a bad move. Would you pat the seat for Nicole?

Be like, here, come sit. No. You probably still wouldn't do it. No, probably won't do that.

For the kids when they were young, it's like, come sit here. That would be okay. But if like, let's say you're out with Dr. Robinson or whatever, or someone like that. No, definitely not. And he goes, oh, Dr. Shah, come sit. He pats, you're like, nah.

No, not going to happen. Something about the pat on the seat doesn't rub. It's off-putting. I don't like it. I didn't like the rub. Ryan was like rubbing the seat.

I didn't like that. This is such a nice studio. It feels good. And I'm so grateful for the team, for the job they've done. Spent hours researching to find what is the best way we can communicate with our people. Those who are watching us for the very first time or those who have been following us for years. What's the best way we can come to you and talk to you and talk with you and hear from you and answer?

And what would be the most relaxed, at the same time, active setting? And we felt like this was the way to go. And we're still putting things together. But I like what you said, Dr. Shah. It is about communication. We're trying to communicate, especially now that Dr. Shah's a featured leader on Pray.com. You may be listening on Pray.com right now. This might be your first time listening to the Clear View Today show.

And what's funny is we said that a lot. Like, hey, today's your first time listening. But now that Dr. Shah's on Pray. There are lots of first time listeners.

Every single day, there are lots and lots and lots of first time listeners. So, yeah, this was definitely something that we prayerfully did. But I've got to say, I'm really feeling it. Yeah, I like it. I like it.

It's a great set up. I know we've got to do the check-in. Dr. Shah, I do have to touch on one thing that happened at lunch that I felt like needed to get talked about on the radio. Which is? And that is your wife.

Oh, yeah. Yeah, we're out at lunch, right? We're out at lunch. We're at Denny's.

Dr. Shah takes us out to lunch. And so we're at Denny's. I get a burger and fries, right?

Everybody kind of gets their things. And then for some reason, I heard the waitress say this to me, but I don't know why she said it. I wrote it off. She was like, I'm going to come back and bring you some more fries. I was like, okay, sure. And I just didn't think about it.

Right. Then, like, everybody's done and she brings me a whole nother bowl full of french fries. And I was like, oh, I was like, she was like, here, those are your fries. I was like, oh, oh, thank you.

I already had fries. She was like, I know, but you only had a little bit. I was like, oh. This is very nice.

That made me feel kind of good. I was like, yeah, she's taking care of me. She, by the way, is a phenomenal waitress. Yes. Phenomenal.

Just unbelievable. She can memorize, like, a party of 30. And I've never seen her mess up.

With changes and substitutions. You know what's funny? This is bad. I've never learned her name. I've never learned what her name is. But she's got a very astute gift of, like, she will take everybody's order, not write a thing down. And in years, I've never seen her get it wrong.

But she's taken care of. She brought us a little thing of fries. I hadn't had too many fries, so I was like, hey, Thomas, Dr. Shaw's youngest son. I said, hey, do you want these fries?

Everybody else said no. Thomas was like, yeah, I'll eat them. So he's over there eating the fries. I see Nicole. I see Nicole take the salt and just start salting Thomas's fries.

Yeah. And then starts picking them out. And I think she, I didn't hear about it. I think she was like, oh, that's salty. She salted someone else's fries. And then didn't want to do it. Let me ask you this. Yeah.

Because that was her son. So I was like, that's all right. Had she salted your fries, is that a discussion or are you just like, whatever, I'm just going to let her salt my fries? I'll probably be whatever.

That's perfectly fine. Is that something she would do? Not really. Not salt fries on your plate?

Yeah. I think it was more because they were not really Thomas's fries. They were just like community fries. You gave it to them, so they became community fries.

So I can salt them. But it was like, well, once Thomas accepted the fries, they're his. So you got to get permission from him. Is he going to salt the fries? No.

The permission never happened. It was more of reaching across the table. And I was like, why are you salting his fries? Why are you salting his fries? Because they don't have any salt in it. I was like, but did you ask him? Yeah. What if he didn't want them with salt?

You can take the fries and then put them on your plate and salt the fries on your plate. And I wonder if that's because that's her son, if that doesn't matter. Like your kids, like Nicholas is how old, 22? 21. 21.

Thomas is 18. Yeah. But does dad tax still apply?

If they have fries. Not anymore. I don't do it anymore.

Really? I don't do the dad tax anymore. Wow.

Well, for those who don't know, when they were young, we would do the dad tax. So anytime, anything they would get, I'd be like, okay, I get one. Yes, of course.

If they have a plate of potato chips, you get a little handful of chips. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yes. A hundred percent.

Absolutely. When you have five kids, dad tax pays great dividends. What if they're 18? Are they living in my house? Yeah. Dad tax.

That is how you showed respect. I may feel differently when my kids are Nicholas and Thomas. It's because they're growing up and they're eating so much. I'm like, if I take that one away, he may shrivel up. So maybe he may starve. They are living in wait, man.

They eat every bit of carbs. Yeah. Yep. Nice.

Yeah. Well, today's check-in is coming to us from Jordan over in Nashville. I wonder if that's Nashville, North Carolina or Nashville, Tennessee. He just said Nashville.

I don't know. Jordan in Nashville writes, hey Clearview Today team, just wanted to check in and say how much I appreciate the show. I was listening this morning and the way y'all talked about people who end up missing out on life.

I felt like y'all were speaking right to me. Love to see how God is moving through your show. Oh, blessings from Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville, Tennessee. Jordan from Nashville.

We're going to be in Nashville, Tennessee in less than a year. Why? Oh, right. Yeah, you're right.

You're right. NRB 2026. Less than a year we will be in Nashville, Tennessee. So Jordan, we're coming your way. You've been to Nashville. Oh, yes. I have. We're going to come see you, man.

Yeah. It's quite an amazing place. For NRB, every other year they are in Nashville, Tennessee, so we'll get a chance to go there. It's quite an amazing place.

Especially if you love music and if you love country music, that is the capital of country music. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. Yeah, you'll see people.

It is nothing to walk down the street and just see street performers just doing country music. You turn a block, there's another one right there. Right. Yeah.

Jordan's comment, though, I think resonates with a lot of people. We were talking about missing out on life and sitting back and just kind of waiting and hoping that God will kind of thrust you where you need to go. But I feel like a lot of us fall into that trap of just like, I'm going to just play it safe. Because I'm scared to faith. I don't want to mess things up. I'm just going to wait until God makes it abundantly clear where I need to go when you need to take that step of obedience.

That's right. And so what I tell people is be consistent. We talked about a consistency today at our lunch hour. But I tell people, be consistent and just wait because God and his timing will push you out there. Don't lose heart.

Don't lose hope. Keep doing the right things. And what you'll find is that God is already working things behind, working behind the scenes and in the right time, he will use you greatly. But if you abandon your post and if you get distracted or if you decide that, you know, I'm going to make some random decision, then when God does come, he already knows what you're doing.

But when he sees it's time for you, well, you're not there or you have made some decisions. So consistently stay focused. Do what God has called you to do. Sometimes it is very enjoyable. Other times it's not so much, but stay the course, stay the course. And then you will see that God has already worked behind the scenes to set you up to what he wants from you. Amen. Amen.

And ones for you. That's right. And Jordan, you know, you're not the only one who wrote in about that episode.

A lot of people loved that episode yesterday. Sometimes we get like feedback on this later on down the line, but then sometimes an episode will hit and like we'll have like two, three, four, five, six callers or texters texting in at once. That's great. We love to hear from people. Oh yes.

Please keep texting. We do. We do. We love to see it.

That's right. We're going to take a quick break and then be right back with our verse of the day. But if you want to check in with us, send us a text to 252-582-5028. We're going to read it just like we did today. Read it on the air and Dr. Shaw is going to give you some daily encouragement.

Don't go anywhere. We're going to take a quick break and be right back with more on Your financial partnership helps us stay on the air, expand our reach, and continue creating content that encourages, equips, and transforms lives. Welcome back to Clearview Today with Dr. Abidjan Shah, the daily show that engages mind and heart for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

That's right. The first verse of the day is coming to us from Romans chapter 3 and verse 26. You've been spending a lot of time in Romans here. To demonstrate at the present time his righteousness, that he might be just, and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Wow. The justifier. He justifies us. And knowing that, I think it takes our faith to a new level, because it's not just that – and I used to think this way, that I'm still guilty, but God's just pretending that I'm just. You know what I mean?

He sees Jesus. So I'm still guilty, Jesus is righteous, so therefore I get a free pass. But I think a lot of sitting under your preaching during this End Times Prophecy Series has sort of shifted my thinking to where it's like, you actually – you do become justified.

You know what I mean? You become righteous. Not that you earned it, but God makes you – Jesus' blood makes you righteous.

Right. It's a forensic doctrine. It's a declaration.

Now, don't misunderstand me, because I also believe that in some sense, God is now in the process of making you righteous. But justification as a doctrine is very forensic in nature. Means it's juridical. It's a declaration by a judge. I didn't say judicial. Judicial would be like the justice system. Judicial is a judge declaring someone innocent, and so because of Christ and what he did for us, God declares us righteous.

He imputes our sin upon Christ and imputes Christ's righteousness to us. So our status has changed. Now sometimes people, they have a little frustration, if I may put it that way, with that idea. Are you telling me that my status has changed? Does that mean I don't have to be good anymore? Does that mean that I can do whatever I want to from here on?

And no, that's definitely not what that means. Because now that your status has changed, you are to live for Christ, because now begins the process of sanctification. Sanctification is positional, sanctification is practical.

So positional in the sense that now you are also being sanctified. You have been set apart for God. Practical means now you're learning to walk in holiness. Now you're learning to put on the new clothes, put on Christ.

You're learning to live the life of being born again. So see, all these doctrines matter. You think that's where our consistency comes in, is in that sanctification. And I don't mean consistent in the fact that I have to constantly work at being good every day, but that it's a consistent growing.

It's a consistent process. Absolutely. Absolutely. We will all have our ups and downs.

No doubt. There are bad days, there are good days. There are days when you are really pleased with your Christian life, then there are days that you are very disappointed with your Christian life, because you feel like, man, I knew better, but I lost my temper, or I knew better, but right now I'm very full of doubts. I knew better, but right now I'm walking towards sin. So there are those moments. But don't misunderstand, sanctification may have some ups and downs, but it should be a growing process, the curve should be moving up.

What if the curve is not moving up? What if it seems like, man, you got saved, but it surely does not look like it? Well, one of two things can happen. God can either call you home and say, you know what, just like we did that thing a few moments ago, come on up here. You don't need to be down there anymore.

I think God does that. Come on up. All right, I'm coming. Here I come.

You don't got a whole lot of choice on that one. So that can happen, or God's going to take you through some very, very hard times to humble you, to break you down, to mold you and shape you into the image of his son, Jesus Christ. Wow.

That's awesome. It's all part of that consistent walk. I think even you sharing, so many times we get discouraged by that, but it's not a matter of I'm walking towards sin or I'm struggling with consistency, maybe I'm not saved, maybe I've lost my salvation, maybe God has removed his hand from me and kind of cast me away. No, it's a matter of coming back to God, it's a matter of going back to that consistency, and those patterns should become more natural the longer you're walking with God. And I think a lot of people struggle with that. I know one of the things I struggle with being consistent is it's always easy and fun and exciting to start something new. But then when it's like, okay, when this stops being fun, and I don't know if it's a balance between discipline and motivation, or if it's just when this stops being fun, do I still think it's worth it?

You know what I mean? Like a new project or a new podcast or a new show or a new production, I think there's always people in ministry who are excited to start something new, but then how do you maintain it? So also with our spiritual life, you know what I mean? Do I just cram in scripture when I'm in trouble?

Or am I constantly making an effort to be in the Word, even when things are going well? So it goes back to vision. We talked about vision a couple of days ago. Vision can be very confusing, because a lot of people have visions. I mean, even evil people like Stalin and Hitler had a vision.

So what they do is, this is my vision in life, now I'm going to do everything I can to achieve that vision. I have this hypothetical understanding that this is a good vision. And you and I know communism is not a good vision. It may sound good on paper, it may sound good in rallies, but in reality it is evil, evil, evil. All it does is it takes from everyone, and it's not like it redistributes it to the elite. And then everybody else is now a commoner, they're all equal, but then there's an elite who is living it up. I mean, it is the worst form of a tug against government, where these are the tugs they take from everybody, now everybody's equal, they're living the life. That's a great term for it, is a thug government. They're a mob.

I mean, they're a mob, essentially, they're a mob, but they're a mob that sits on top of false virtue. Right, right. But when it comes to the vision of the Christian life, when it comes to the vision for church, when it comes to the vision for the gospel, for evangelism, for reaching the lost, that is not a vision that we have crafted. Now we may craft it in the sense of our locality or our personality or our gifts and our talents. Maybe there are some particular things that are very real to us. But overall, the vision is God's vision, and it's not going to fail. So I'm going somewhere with this, and we'll walk through it again. So when you know that that vision is not from you, that that vision will not fail, because God, the triune God, is behind it, then even if today is a bad day, even if today seems like it was a complete waste of time, we did not achieve anything, we failed miserably, we made a lot of mistakes, it just didn't work out. Because it is not my vision, neither is Stalin and Hitler's vision, this is God's vision.

Here's what I know, that vision is not for a single moment has been compromised. So here's what happens. I can get up in the morning, and I have a choice, what do I do about yesterday? Either I'm going to carry that feeling today, or I'm going to say to myself and to God, God, yesterday ended last night.

And so now, I am going to once again get behind your vision. Again, keep in mind, having a studio is not in the Bible, right? Getting on pray.com may not be in the Bible. But what is in the Bible is going to all the world, make disciples, baptizing them in the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I've commanded you, and lo, I'm with you even to the end of the age. So I can get behind that vision, and whether I have a good day or a bad day, or whatever happened yesterday, today's a new day.

Because those good days and those bad days, they're going to come and go. But the vision, the discipline and the consistency to the vision, like you said, is God's vision. That's what keeps you steady.

Yeah. The consistency is not in us. It's not like, man, I am just going to stay focused. What if it's a horrible vision?

Why would you want to be consistent? Abandon ship. Do you think people are scared to do that in ministry? Oh, yeah. Because if it's not God's vision, they feel like, man, either they're like, I don't like to quit. Well, if it's not God's vision, please quit. If it's a ship sailing toward disaster or going down, you need to get off. Yeah. It's a sunk cost fallacy where they feel like I've spent so much time in it, I have to make it work or else I've wasted God's time or something. Yeah.

But if it's not God's vision, let's say you came up with a vision, like give me some ludicrous vision that has nothing to do with the Bible. Like starting a clothing line. Clothing line. Okay. Like a Christian clothing line.

A Christian clothing line. Yeah. That's not a bad vision. Right. But in the grand scheme of things, it's not directly a Christian vision. Right.

Of course, it could be, we can justify that and say, you know, go into all the world and make disciples. We're doing that by selling clothes. But what if this clothing line idea was great in the beginning, but it seems like, okay, this is a huge, huge money pit. We're not getting anything out of this.

Nobody's motivated. This is not selling. This is not working out.

This was a bad idea. Yeah. That kind of leads me to another topic that maybe we can talk about later on another show. But I feel like people do that in the search of like originality.

I want to do something that no Christian has done. Right. Right.

And so we have to really think outside these, like, I don't want to call them harebrained schemes, but you know what I'm saying? Oh yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. And so I would say to that person who is disillusioned right now with this Christian clothing line, maybe it's time to abandon that.

To stop and reevaluate and go back to the drawing board and say, okay, we know that the vision is to reach the world. We thought this was the way. This is not the way. Maybe there's something better out there. Our gifts and talents are not suited to make those clothing lines.

Maybe it needs to stop. That's different. But if it's a vision like, hey, we are trying to share the love of Christ and how we're going to do that. We're going to find various means to do it. We're going to use our gifts. So we're really good with technology. So let's see if we can capture the flag for Christ online, or maybe we're really good with media. Maybe we can make some videos and get the word out there like we're doing here.

Maybe it's a radio, maybe something else. That's a vision worth pursuing. Even if yesterday seemed like we just didn't get anywhere, equipment kept breaking down. We just didn't seem like we were hitting the mark we wanted. Okay, that's okay.

Let's start again today. Right. Because ultimately the show is not the vision. Reaching the nations, reaching multitudes of people is the vision. And that's where you'd have to be consistent with that.

Exactly. So then that brings up maybe a larger and more important question. How do I know if the vision that I have is God's vision? It has to be biblical. And again, I know we're talking about ministry context. It can be the vision for your marriage. Let me give you a bad vision for marriage. We want to be just as successful and happy as that rich couple over there who goes to church. And we want to go to all the vacations that they get to go to. They have a helicopter.

We need a helicopter to be happy. You see what I'm saying? Yeah. See how terrible that vision is. But it's so common.

It happens. And you know what's funny is people think that's not their vision because they don't put that down on paper because they know how selfish it sounds. But it's still the vision they're operating under. It's still their method of their marriage or their life. Better vision for you would be how can we have a Christ-centered marriage that glorifies God and whether it requires us to live within our means, whether it requires us to trust God that we may not have everything, but that's okay, that we should not be seeking after everything or trying to have that lavish lifestyle or huge house. And I knew a friend back in seminary days, man, I thought I may be wrong, but I felt like he was envious of his parents.

Really? Oh, yeah. He wanted to have what his parents had. And his parents were somewhere in their late 50s. Were they wealthy? Like a wealthy family? Not wealthy, really. But come on. When you are in your late 50s, early 60s, you have accumulated things, right?

You have beautiful furniture. He just wanted the finish line early in life. Oh, yes. Oh, yes.

And so they began to do things and to gain money and this and that and the other. He is barely in the ministry today. Yeah. Wow. Again, I'm not saying if you start in ministry that you need to stay in ministry.

Maybe God has something different for you. But for him, it was a lifestyle. Wow. Like when I used to go visit him when he invited me to come preach a Bible for him, I was shocked at his house. I was like, wow, this looks like the house of somebody who is a CEO of some... Like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air house. Yeah.

Well, not quite that much, but it was pretty close. I got you. And I'm like, wow. I'm like, how in the world do you have a butler? No, I'm just kidding.

He didn't have a butler. Oh, Phil. What is Uncle Phil doing here? I'm like, how in the world?

And I didn't ever say anything, but I'm like, oh, you know what? He's trying to live the life. Wow. That lifestyle that he saw in his parents. He wants that. And it's crazy because it wasn't even that he couldn't get it. He did get it, but it didn't fulfill him.

You know what I'm saying? I think that's the thing is like, because I think I struggle with that sometimes looking ahead and being like, oh man, all that stuff that I have to wait a lifetime to get. I don't want to wait. I want to get it now when I'm in my prime. And I think just life has shown me and the Bible has shown me and listening to your preaching has shown me that those things, it's the trusting in God that gets you there to where it can actually satisfy you. I genuinely feel like if I got everything I wanted right now at 33, I would not be satisfied. I wouldn't enjoy it. And God wouldn't let me enjoy it. So keep the vision, since we're talking about marriage, keep the vision, the vision, which is have a Christ centered marriage that not only glorifies God, but allows him to use your marriage as a testimony to the watching world, whether you know, to the saved people or to the lost people.

So the saved people to see the Christ charged relationship to the lost people, they can see what a difference Christ can make in a marriage. If I can give one more example, think about raising children, right? So you have a vision for your children, man, I want my kids to play pro ball. Well, a lot of it has to do with genetics. You can't fight your genes. Right.

If your son is 21 years old and he's and he's like, what, four foot three, he probably ain't going to play basketball. Yeah. Well, you never know. He could be a good, like, going in between people. Yeah. Yeah.

He could be a good passer. Yeah. You don't play much basketball. Do you?

Not at all. Shooty hoops? No.

Shooty hoops. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Maybe, you know, maybe a better vision for your children would be, man, I want, I want to raise them to follow Christ. I want to raise them to be, you know, God-fearing, Bible-loving young people who will change the world for Christ. That would be a better vision. And that's what you can get behind. And we can be consistent that I can be a good parent. Maybe last night I wasn't one. Maybe I lost my temper.

Maybe I was, I've been so busy and detached, but I can get back on it. It also seems like that frees people up, Dr. Shaw, like they can, like, it's a broader vision. Like I want my son to play pro ball is pretty specific and it sort of narrows you into a certain vision that might not be for you. But I want my son to be a follower of Christ and have a good Christ-centered family. That's a very broad vision that sort of frees you up to do whatever you want. And it's worth giving your whole life to. David had a quick question about, you know, what happens when you try to follow the right way, but it gets harder.

Can you tell us that question? Yeah. So I was wondering, like, it seems like sometimes when you are trying to follow that right way, when you're trying to walk by faith and you're trying to live the life consistently like you were talking about, that things tend to like either ramp up or get harder than before. Specifically in my life, before I learned about walking in faith and abiding in Christ, there were other ways of life that I was like, this is a good way to live. This is like good philosophy.

This is good to go by. And it seemed like everything was going smoothly until I was like, no, I don't want to do that. I want to do the way the Bible says. Then when I did that, things like life got harder. Life got harder. Life doesn't really get hard until you commit to a vision.

Yeah. And then I was like, oh, I'm trying to do it the right way. And now things are harder. Am I doing something wrong or is that a sign that I'm doing something right? And that's kind of what I'm...

Yes and no. I would say life can be hard. Anything you do.

Right. Anything that's worth doing, whether it's Christian or not. So you want to be a great athlete.

So what if you're not saved? Oh man, life is easy. I can, I can do things. Oh, I got saved. Man, I can hardly hold this basketball.

All my coordination is gone. No, I don't think it'd be quite like that or in other areas of life. I think life can be tough no matter what, if it's something worth doing. But in the Christian life, there's a different battle. The battle is you're trying to please God. The battle is you're trying to fight away or fight off the enemy who wants to distract you. The battle is you're trying to live out a testimony before a lost world. So that I think is where the battle comes in, where either you are failing because of some sin in your life or the enemy is reminding you of something wrong in you or whatever it is. Those are things that can make things difficult. So just know that there's a spiritual element in that battle that's more than just, man, I would love to be really wealthy. And it's hard work to be wealthy, but I've worked 24-7, I've been working hard for years and this is why I have what I have.

Okay, well, you worked hard to get what you have. Spiritual battle is different. Spiritual vision is different because it involves sin and warfare and trials of life are different. Great point. That's such a great point. It's so helpful for us. It's so helpful for people to focus on consistency with God and the bigger picture of your life instead of just, I want this right now, I'm going to get this right now. And the consistency, like you said, Dr. Shaw, it's not a surface level, just do it every day, read it every day, foster discipline. It's consistency within a vision. It's keeping your mind and your heart consistent, more so than my actions. Yes, your actions, but also if that vision isn't consistent, if I'm constantly creating new little mini visions for my life or for my marriage, it's never going to get anywhere.

It's just going to breed frustration because I keep having to start and stop. That's right. Guys, make sure to join us tomorrow, same time, same station.
