If you're just joining us for the first time with Dr. Abaddon Shah, who's a PhD in New Testament textual criticism, professor at Carolina University, author, full-time pastor and the host of today's show, Dr. Shah, welcome to the show. My friend gave me some air horns. I'll give you a drum roll.

I'll give you that wamp, wamp, wamp, wamp. Why? That was a great introduction today. I don't have a co-host today, so I feel like I gotta just be a little bit more. You gotta compensate.

Yeah, you just gotta compensate. How are you? I'm doing well. I'm doing Miss Ryan, of course.

Yeah, of course, Miss Ryan. But I think he needs some rest and then maybe we can all get some rest. Just doing some Christmas travel, you know what I mean? You know, it's two days after Christmas. He was very sad yesterday about the Boxing Day blues. In fact, I don't even know if he's traveling. He might've just run away.

I found a note on my desk today that said, dear staff, can't take the post holiday depression gone fishing. He's hanging out with his kids and his family. He's having a good time. He's having a good time.

He's having a good time. We miss Ryan. He will be back, I think by New Year's, by the New Year's episode. He should be back. So we're going to have a good time without him. Yeah, I'll tell you what, we'll have a good time without him. Here's what I'm gonna say.

Let's read the verse of the day and then we'll transition to the rest of the show. You're struggling, aren't you? It helps when you have a co-host to bounce things off of. Well, you have somebody sitting there.

Yeah, I got David back there. He's just sitting like a bump on a log. Yeah, just like a little lump on a log. Like a bump on a log. Yeah. That's what I am.

Call me the lump. David, how you feeling, man? I'm feeling good.

I'm not used to doing a whole lot of talking on the show. Did you get a whole lot of toys for Christmas? I got so many toys. What'd you get? I got a dinosaur toy. I got hot wheels.

Hot wheels. Yeah. I got a Lincoln log. Just the one log? Just one. It didn't come with the whole set. My parents said that next year maybe we can get more. Did you get any one of those remote-controlled cars?

Yes, I did. I got an RC car. Well, no batteries. No batteries.

Got you. And when you asked your parents for batteries, they were like, maybe if you're good for your birthday. They were like, well, you see, you got the Lincoln log so you don't get batteries. That's why you tried to jam the Lincoln log in. Got it.

Got it. The controller's broke. I saw a destroyed controller on my desk this morning.

I don't know what in the world happened there. What'd you get for Christmas? I don't even think I asked you.

Let's see. What did I get for Christmas? Different things from different people. I got a vest, which is a heated vest. I'm afraid to put it on.

In case it malfunctions or it's just too hot. In case it's like, what's that movie we saw where the guy wears this jacket and then it kind of like starts burning and before you know it, he dies from that. I think that's the Green Mile.

I'm just joking. No, no, no, no, no, no, not that. What is that movie? What was that movie?

It was a funny movie. I'm trying to think for a moment. A burning jacket. Hold on.

Let me see. Was that from Psych? The show? Maybe. I only saw the pilot episode of Psych. But that sounds about right.

Did he die from it? There's a jack, not him, but somebody wears a jacket and you wear the jacket and it just starts heating up or something. Yeah. I forgot about that now. Sounds like a Saw movie. Hold on. I'm sure we can find it.

Psych. Burning jacket. Let's see what happens. And then Nicole got me these robot grill cleaners.

Okay. So you take this little device, put it on top of the grill after I'm done eating. And it cleans the grill? It just kind of moves around. Nicole was talking about, she got like, it's like a Roomba, but better where it goes around and it like cleans her, it cleans the house. And like she said, if it senses that a spot's not clean, it'll go back to that spot. It kept going under our bed a lot. Oh really?

Yeah. So Nicholas said, what if I just keep crumbling up crumbs and just dropping them in the floor? It's like, oh, you gotta go get that.

Just confuse the machine. Well, look, our verse of the day is coming. Wait, you didn't tell us what you got for Christmas.

Let's see. What did I get? I got some sweater vests and I got a watch. I got an analog watch. I've been wanting to do the analog watch thing for a while. Why? I thought that everybody's going digital.

So here's the thing. I wanted the analog watch to look really cool. Cause I wanted it to look cool. And then people were like, you know, you can get a metal band, like an analog watch band for an Apple watch. And I said, no, I don't think they make those.

We were sitting here at lunch today and I saw yours and I said, doggone it. Yes. So that's the type of band that I wanted, but I didn't know they made those for Apple watch like the metal bands. They, they, okay. So this actually came from Germany.

Okay. Yeah. Is that an Apple watch? This is an Apple watch, but the band actually came from Germany. It's it's called the company is they're not paying us any money for this. Yeah. This is not sponsored. This is not sponsored. I a hundred percent think it should be.

Yeah, I know this should. It's a stainless steel band. And it's a company that just specializes in these kinds of things. They make bands for Apple watches.

They make special flashlights. And so they're pretty cool stuff. Nice.

Nice. Now I feel like I got to just, at least to show my sister some respect, I feel like I got to wear the analog watch for at least a few months before I, before I upgrade to a, but it's just, it's just for when I dress up, I'm not gonna wear it every day. But I got the Apple watch.

Oh, I'm sorry. I got the analog watch. I got a couple of sweater vests, got a couple of books, low key Christmas. Once you have kids, your your gifts start to really tank. They had a great Christmas. They got bunk beds. Oh yeah. They got bunk beds. Now they're now and Gavin got a roommate because now his brother sleeps in his room. Really?

Oh yeah. So now we have it. So we, I guess we got a, we got a spare room, but with another baby coming, I don't know how much the good that's going to do us for very long. Today's verse of the day is coming to us from John chapter one in verse 12. It says, but as many as received him to them, he gave the right to become children of God to those who believe in his name. And I just think about like being God's children. Like think about the fact that my father created the entire universe.

You know what I mean? It's like the ultimate, my daddy is better than your daddy thing where you can truly say like our heavenly father created everything. He spoke it all into existence and he says, you are my child.

That's, that's a really cool thing. And we are, you know, we are air of eternal life. So that I think should motivate us to do things. I would say one motivate us not to put all our hopes in this life because God has something far better for us coming. So enjoy this life, save, invest, make the most of it with God's grace, but don't, don't put all your hope in this life. God has a lot of inheritance for you in the life to come.

And secondly, just know that whatever you need in this life, God will provide. That's right. Yeah.

That's right. It's funny cause I was actually, I was literally just thinking about that not long ago, Nicholas and I were in here setting up this room to like actually get ready to record. And we were watching the TV and it was like 1.2 something billion dollars for the Powerball. And we just got to talking like, what would you do if you got that money?

Like if you won that jackpot. And then I walked out the room and I was like, man, that would be really cool. And as I walked down the stairs, it just hit me. I was like, wait a minute. If I believe what I'm telling everybody else, that means that the one who created all of this, who has much more than 1.2 something billion dollars, that's my inheritance. I was like, that's kind of crazy.

Great point. And it's, and it kind of brings back to that where Paul said, I know that treasure is laid up for me in heaven. It's not just, it's not just like, man, I really hope I see it one day. It's like, I know that it's there.

It's just waiting for me. And something that I think you, you said at lunch today, when we were talking, we were discussing this upcoming series at Clearview, that's going to be focused on prophecy, but in the gearing up for that, I think you said, you know, prophecy, not only it looks towards the future, but it helps us deal with the here and now, you know what I'm saying? It helps us to endure. Knowing what's coming is, is not just, Hey, be ready for it.

Cause it's coming. It's also like, live accordingly, right? If you ever read those seven letters that Jesus sent to the seven churches in Asia Minor, repeatedly, it says in the second half of each of those letters, he who overcomes shall get this. He who overcomes will not have to face that.

And so overcoming is a big part of the Christian life. You have to endure. You have to hang in there.

You have to wait for a better day. You have to have solid hope and assurance that this is not the end. There's something better coming in the future. I mean, that's what prophecy is all about. Why study prophecy?

Just so you can, you know, figure out how things will turn out. No, you study prophecy to give you hope, but hope in something far better in the future. So keep going. Don't give up.

Maybe you're facing difficulties right now in your life. And maybe you feel like giving up. Do not give up. Do not give up in your life. Do not give up in your relationships. Do not give up in your spiritual life. Maybe it's financially you're struggling, physically you're struggling.

Relationally you're struggling. Don't lose heart. Overcome. And you can do that by God's grace. Keep praying and asking God to help you.

Okay. So I don't know who out there needs to hear this, who is watching right now, who needs to hear and see this, but I hope you realize just keep enduring. Keep looking to Christ. He will get you through. That's right.

And there's a lot of things in this life that, that have to be endured. In fact, we're going to talk about that later on in the show, but for right now, we're going to take a quick break. We're going to re-hear a word from our sponsors and we'll be right back. Hey, Clearview Today listeners. You can visit us online at clearviewtodayshow.com or if you have any questions, anything you'd like to suggest that we talk about, you can write into the show 2525825028.

You can also email us at contact at clearviewtodayshow.com. Dr. Shah, really sad news coming in from New York. I think, you know, you've been hearing about this. It's been all over the news.

This guy named Sebastian Zapata, 33-year-old undocumented immigrant set fire to a woman on a New York subway. And it's been really, really, really blowing up in the news. That happened, I think, like a day or so ago.

I think it happened a day ago and he appeared before a judge today. That's right. That's right. So, I mean, this is something that's very, very fresh. But it's also why, so it's one of those weird things because violence and unrest in a New York subway is not unheard of. But this, I think, took it to a new level. Everybody was shocked about this. Yeah.

Everybody was talking about this and was like, this is like taking it to a new level. It's hard to understand the depravity of a person to do that. Okay. We don't know for sure what exactly is the motivation behind this.

More than likely drugs. Something else is happening. But this man just walked up to a person on the subway from what we're hearing here. And he, you know, I hate to share all this information.

If your kids are near you, please make sure you be discerning about that. But he set her on fire and then used his shirt or whatever to fan the flame. To start fanning him. Yeah. Yeah.

I mean, it's something. And then when they questioned him and asked him, you know, why did you do that? He could not answer. He said, I don't know. I mean, with this mental disorder or some kind of a drug situation, we don't know for sure.

But this gentleman, 33 years of age, was an illegal alien who had been deported back in 2018, but he found a way to get back in. And that should alert us. That should cause us to pause and take a hard look at this and not just move on to the next news. Why is this happening?

And why is it happening? Because we've said it for a while that something is wrong when you open the borders indiscriminately and let people come in and do whatever they want to. So we've had a lot of convicts who've come in, a lot of people who are bad people who haven't been given the help or haven't been kept in their prison and they've come. And in this coming, they have, you know, nobody's stopped to ask the question, are these people who are coming in, are they mentally stable? Are they good addition to American society? None of that. I mean, just like throw open the borders, come on in.

And now we're paying for it. It does not mean for a single moment that we believe everybody who came across the border is like this. Absolutely not. It does not mean for a single moment that we're saying that people who are illegally here are all like this. No, that's not true.

But what we're saying is that we have now opened the borders and here is the situation. And also let's talk about the young lady who was killed, right? And I believe in Georgia, I think it was. No, not in Georgia.

Yeah, I think it was Georgia. And so all this is going on, I think American public needs to wake up and ask the question, what is our government going to do? How are we going to fix this?

Right. And there has to be something, there has to be some response because we're seeing, it's like we're seeing a pattern now. It's not just a case here and a case there. There's this one in New York, there's this one in Georgia, and it's happening where these undocumented migrants they're coming in. And these are not like affluent women, by the way, these aren't like of the upper class where it's like a lashing out or a striking back at the wealthy. Like this, I believe this woman, she has not been identified, but this woman in New York was like, they thought she was homeless. She had like mobility issues. Like there was a walker that she had. So there, yeah, there, I mean, he was going after like low hanging fruit. It was just a, what you call it? A desire to be violent. You know, this wasn't, this wasn't like a strike at the rich kind of thing.

No, not at all. Like, like she was over there. They haven't identified the woman, but she was over 18. And, and reports are saying that she was, she was more than likely homeless. She definitely had mobility issues. She couldn't walk very good. But, you know, I don't know, I don't know the rest of, of her story.

Cause like I said, the story is still so new, but it's, it's, it's indicative of a pattern, a pattern of behavior that we're sort of burying our heads in the sand and not addressing. I just, just to clarify, you know, there's, there was a report out there up until Christmas Eve that this woman was some, someone named Amelia Carter. And, you know, that she's the one, I think something about, she had a PhD or she was a PhD student. That's a hoax. That's a hoax.

That was just, it's sad that times like this. Oh yeah, see Amelia Carter, fake identity of NYC subway fire victim goes by. Yeah.

And that's not true. That, that did not, that, that was not, it was just a... Oh, it was an AI generated image. Yeah.

I didn't know that. Yeah. It's terrible. This AI stuff, man.

Who has a time? Yeah. Especially someone's, you know, someone has lost their life and you're here making an AI image and putting it out there as if it's real.

I don't know what to say. That's why you need Jesus. That's right. That's right.

That's crazy. Amen to that. So looking at all these things like with this, and then also with what happened to the young lady in Georgia, it, I feel like there's like different layers. Like one could be, you could look at it and talk about like at where this murdered the lady in Georgia, just like maybe campus security or like subway security. Or if you look at it from another layer, it can be how to fix the immigration system in America to have less violent crime or violent criminals. But then on like an even broader scale, it seems like there's even the idea of, I mean, this is just human depravity. This is without Christ, what we look like.

What would you say is the main, the main point we should be focusing on when looking at this, since there's so many layers? Well, our society, I would say, has been in a state of chaos at least over the past four years, if not more. Yeah, I would agree with that. And so it's like there is no sheriff in town. I'm not talking about our sheriff in our local county.

I'm talking about as in, in our government system. So people are doing what they want to do. Okay. This happened years ago with Antifa and all of that.

And then it happened since then. So people are living like they did in the time of the judges. Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent. Everyone just does what's right in his own eyes.

There was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. And you know what's crazy? That, and I don't mean to cut you off. No, no. That was, that's, that's clearly, clearly like an obviously bad thing.

It's condemning the people of Israel. But if you said that today, that, hey, you know, today in America, everyone does what's right in their own eyes. I feel like a lot of people would be like, yeah, that's great. That's a good thing.

That's awesome. No, it's not. That was not a compliment to the time of the judges.

When it's repeatedly that refrain starts showing up starting in, I believe chapter 17 on it is everyone did what was right in his own eyes. There was no king in Israel. That was supposed to alert us to the fact that now chaos is ruling.

Right. And, and this is not what God promised to his people. This was not the vision of the promised land. This is, this is chaos. I mean, this is not even Egypt. This is worse than Egypt. Do you think people, this, this, this may be pushing the envelope a little bit, so I don't, I don't mean it to sound like this, but do you think people are using everything that happened in the 20th century in Europe with, with authoritarian figures becoming tyrannical as an excuse to go the complete opposite way and say, we don't want any authority at all?

Oh. And I don't mean that it's an overcorrection. I mean, do you think they're purposely using that as a scapegoat to say, we don't want any authority. We want to do what we want to do. And if anyone questions us about it, we can just point to people like Hitler or Stalin or Mussolini.

We can just point to them as a sort of, as a sort of scapegoat. So social Marxism has been with us for quite some time. It has tried and tried and tried again to take over society.

In Asian countries, in African countries, in South American countries, it has been relatively very successful. In the Western world, we have fought back other than, of course, Russia over here. We have fought back. We have fought back in, in England. We fought back in Germany and in other places.

And of course, we also fought back in America, but it keeps coming back. Yeah. And it, it, at the heart of it is you have had the wealth far too long. It's time we have it. That's, that's sort of why I asked that because you, you did, you made that comment that there's no sheriff in town. And I feel like in the government, people are so opposed to having someone in, in power or an authority, I should say, they're so diametrically opposed to saying, he should be the authority.

He should tell us what to do. They don't want that at all. And I wonder if that comes from, like you said, an idea, like Marxism that they have, that they think is going to work here, or if it's just fear that it could go wrong. I don't, I don't know.

I genuinely don't know. I can't tell why they're so, cause to me, it seems like the president should be an authority. That it should be an authority figure who says, this is the person who's laying the vision because we elected them.

That's what we elected them to do. Right. Right. Yeah. But I think here, if they looked up, look upon the president as the guy who is in cahoots with these, these billionaires and these, you know, private jet owners and multi-billion dollar corporations. And so we, we hate you. Now, of course, the last one and, or the one who was outgoing and the one who was going to be incoming, but thank goodness, didn't go that way.

They were going to go along with this agenda as weak as we can be as a government. So you can do whatever you want to do. Yeah. That, that is music to the ears of these kinds of people.

But that day is done. I think, you know, as I said a few moments ago, there's a new sheriff in town and it's time people wake up to that and go, there are consequences. You know, sometimes people say, it doesn't matter who the president is, you know, down here, it down here is just, no, no, no, it matters.

Yeah. I used to think like that when I was young, when I really didn't know a whole lot about how the world actually works. I used to think that the person who's in the president's office, isn't that I was one of those like shadow government type of people.

I was like, you know, the president is just a face and what he thinks really doesn't matter. Maybe somewhat true. I agree with that.

Yeah. Well, I don't know how much I really think that way anymore because I've seen, I've grown up, I've matured, I've seen how the world works and now I've had enough time to see like, Hey, those four years actually were not really bad. These four years, really like, I mean, you can't really deny those patterns of, of, of what you call it, just like wellbeing in the country. And I remember people when, when president Trump was in office the first time, I remember people being unhappy, but things were pretty good. Like, like life was pretty great. Money was in the pocket, you know, all of a sudden their, their homes getting built and, and people are, have a sense of like, I can do this.

And you know what else, you know what else I want to amend what I just said. I think just the people online weren't happy. You know, like the people who run the media weren't happy. Like they made it very known that they were unhappy, but as we've seen for two elections now, the majority of people had no problem at all. They were, they were actually pretty happy with the way things were going. So, but unfortunately, you know, that, that didn't last long with the, the next government, but praise God, you know, now we're seeing people are finally waking up and going, now we need a better government.

And the elections showed that the American public is ready for a change. Things like this, this New York subway attack and this murder in Georgia, things like this, I mean, they're, they're bound to happen, but what do you see happening in the next four years? Like, do you see, I mean, I think you really put the nail on the head when you said there will be consequences for stuff like this, you know?

Right. I think progressively we're going to see society have law and order. There will be a system. Of course, there'll be people who will not be happy about this because morality and ethics are going to change.

It happens. It's amazing how society begins to have some sense. You will have people willing to work hard to, to make money, to invent, to create, to start businesses. So no longer sitting back and waiting for a check to come. And I personally believe there are people who need to do that. That's, you know, they are maybe physically unable to do that, or the economy is so horrible where they are, they just cannot. So we cannot just say, well, you just can starve to death.

No jobs, tough. No, you have to help people. That's, that's, that's the, you know, that's what makes America a Christian nation. That's right. But having said that, I think you're going to see a lot more jobs opening up, businesses opening up, and it's kind of like a heuristic type way.

It'll get better and better. Did I get mine out? I don't know if I got mine out. I was like, heuristic?

It's like, I'd never use that word. It's like a trial and error. Oh, okay. Better and better. You just, you just keep, keep improving on what came before. I mean, I guess that's, that's, that's the way to do it. You gave him heuristic. How do you spell, how do you spell heuristic? H-E-U-R-I-S-T-I-C. Heuristic.

Heuristic. Yeah. And I don't use that word usually, but I'm like. But at least you recognize it. But at least it was in the right context. No, that was, yeah, you did good. I usually just try to get mine in there.

Heuristically, it gets better and better. That's right. And he looked at me and I looked at you and I was like, no, I'm just going to get that. I might just give it to you. There you go. Heuristic. I like it. At least it was used in the right context. Yeah, that's true. That's true. You know, we're about to close the show.

We hope you guys have really enjoyed it. I do want to say, Dr. Shaw, do you have anything that you want to leave our listeners with, especially the women who are listening to this? I think there's a lot of people who are seeing crimes like this and they're thinking that, you know, if Trump gets in office, it's going to be way worse for women. I think it's really just the opposite. It's just the opposite. Please, please, please don't believe the lies. Stop believing the junk that you find.

You know, these people, they're just, they're live for whatever reason. That's right. Notice these crimes are against women. And last couple of weekends ago, I preached on this, of how in the time of judges, the Canaanites mistreated their women.

They had a very low view of women. That's how the Bible, the book of judges begins. And towards the end of the book of judges, now the people of Israel are acting like the Canaanites.

That's right. Telling their own brothers and sisters, brothers, like the people of Benjamin, who didn't have any wives, to go and steal the wives, steal these virgin girls or go and do what's known as bride kidnapping. You know, that's where we get the word rape from. Raptom means to snatch away.

Go, go do that. There was a civil war over the life of this one woman, this Levite's wife slash concubine, wife without a dowry. 66,130 individuals died. That's right. That should tell you how much God values the life of one woman. Just one.

One woman. Yep. And so just know that God values you and just know that a lot of people out there who will stand for you and fight for you, be careful, be careful. Yes. Evil is out there.

That's right. Amen. So important for us. Thank you guys for joining us for the Clearview Today Show. Make sure you join us next week.
