It's called The Daily Check-In. Ryan, how are you doing today, buddy? Doing great. How are you doing?
I'm doing pretty good. That concludes our new segment, The Clear View Check-In. For more information about The Clear View Today Show, visit us online at ClearViewToday.com. Brief but effective. Sometimes you just got to check in. Hey, Ryan, it's Monday, man. It's Monday. It's Monday, and you know what that means. Oh, time for Million Dollar Monday. That's a sweet, sweet sound to hear on Monday. I love the sound of it. I love when I check my account and I'm like, ooh, my mic just messed up. Happy Monday. Here's a mil.
Yeah, exactly. I love to check my account and say, oh, wow, there's a million dollars in there and I didn't even know about it. My check must have hit. And I love that for me.
All right, I'm going to give you a million dollars. But every time you crank your car, every single time, how many times do you think you crank your car in a day? A day?
You leave for work. If you go to the gym, if you go to the gym, that's twice. At least twice, maybe three times. I mean, because you got to work and then from work, you got to the gym and then from the gym. That's four. So four. Yeah. You got to get to school and stuff.
Yeah, I would say between two and seven or eight times a day. Well, every single time you crank your car, you're getting a million dollars for this, but there's a three percent chance that it will just die. And I don't mean like the battery dies. I mean like that car's rest in peace dead.
Nothing functions. I feel like that's I'm living that right now. Right.
I'm waiting on the good times right now. Three percent is not a lot. It's not a lot. And it does not mean. Oh, man, that one percentage. This is a misconception that people have.
They think that ninety seven times it'll happen and three times it'll happen. But I'm thinking like what if we are, you know, like this past year we went to Yellowstone and the staff retreat and we go to create the car and oh, no, it's your car. The car has to be in your name. Oh, it has to be mine. It has to be in your name or your spouse's name if it's a hill car.
Yeah. Imagine driving your friend's car. Now they're going to be looking for your million. That's risky.
I don't know that I would take that. I would say it's your car. I wouldn't even say rental cars, just just a car, just a car that we own. Now, it doesn't necessarily have to be legally in your name. It's just like if your mom gives you a car and it's like, hey, this old car we have, it's now like spiritual ownership has passed to you.
Right. It's now your car. You I don't think I don't think I'd take it. It's risky. It's it's it's a small percentage. But, man, when it when it like junks out on you like that would be I would also not take it.
I don't think I would take it. Cars are expensive. It feels like, well, it's only three percent. But what about that one time where you really have to like you've got to make it somewhere and then just like, yeah, like what if we like what if NRB 25 we've driven to Nashville, we've driven to like stinking Austin, Texas, or you're going out to dinner with like very powerful people who want to promote your radio show. That's I know that's happened to you guys out there before.
And they're like, come on, let's head over to the what's the Ruth's Chris. And you're like, hey, guys, we can take my car. Oh, and we're not talking like, oh, I need to get a part replace like this is like your car is done. Cars totaled cars. I don't think I functionally totally I could take that will never crank again.
It will never operate that I want to do it. I don't think so. Because that's think about how many cars you're going to burn through. That's a lot. That's a lot of cars.
And it's not even worth it to get reliable cars because you might as well just drive junk cars because at any moment they could be like, oh, well, we're done. I wouldn't take the money. I would not take a million dollars. Write it and let us know what you guys think. I wonder what Dr. Shaw would say. I feel like he's going to err on the side of caution and agree with us. I think let's see. Dr. Shah is surprisingly you. You and Nicholas have surprised me in that you guys don't really risk a lot for a million dollars.
Dr. Shah surprised me in the fact that he does. Yeah, but I think let's see. He loves that truck. If that truck were to die, I think he'd be I think he'd be kind of sad.
Yeah, I don't think he'll. I don't know. Let's see. Write it and let us know what you guys think.

That's right. We're here in the Clear View today studio once again with Dr. Abbadon Shah, who is a PhD in New Testament Textual Criticism. Dr. Shah, it's Million Dollar Monday, my friend. I'm going to give you a million buckarooneys. But every time you crash, every time you crash your car, let me start that again. Every time you crank your car, every time you crank your car, there's a 3% chance that it just is totaled. It won't get like wrecked, but like it just shuts down.
Nothing works. How long are we going to do this? That's for life. But it's only a 3% chance when you crank it. But the car is, the car is done. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It just won't crank.
And it's like every, like everything, nothing, nothing works. It's not totaled. A million dollars for just a 3%, 3%. Can we get back to the microphone? You're good. You're good.
I'm really thinking about this one. You get a million dollars one time payment. And then from that point on, every time you crank it, there's a 3% chance it just will die. 97% chance you'll be fine. So I may be having a heart attack and my car will be like, it might.
3%, 3%. You're good. Also, hopefully you wouldn't be, if you're having a heart attack, you wouldn't be driving yourself. So I think you should be good. But what if I'm by myself?
I gotta get to the hospital. Uh oh, here's the 3%. I'm going to say, I'm going to say 97% chance you'll be fine. And it's not 97 times it'll happen.
It's like every time is a new chance. So there's a great chance it may never happen. A great chance something bad is, I don't know if I can take that. Really? No. Cause I feel like with a million dollars, you could probably have like maybe five or six backup cars? Maybe? Five or six? I don't know.
Maybe. How many backup cars do you think a million dollars would buy you? Well, I mean, I guess I could do that. I thought any vehicle will be in that situation. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. Any vehicle, but I'm saying it would be fairly, fairly easy to at least have. Imagine hitting that 3% chance five times in a row.
That's terrible. I would just hire a chauffeur. I would just hire a chauffeur. You get two sons at the house, by the way.
You get two sons. You could just have them. They could just drive you away. Oh, they'll be there for long. They're all flapping them wings. Right out of the nest. The baby birds go. There they go.
Right out of the nest. There's your answer, ladies and gentlemen. That's going to be a no go on a million dollars. For the record, I also said I wouldn't take it. Yeah, that's a little dicey.
It's a little dicey. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the Clearview Current, where we cut through the chaos of today's headlines with a clear Christian perspective. We're here to keep you up to date on what's going on in the world, big or small. As you know, last week, Israel launched a so called preemptive strike against what was a planned Hezbollah attack against them.
Right. Hezbollah has been of course, they've been wrapped up in this conflict for months now. And, you know, they there was a planned Hezbollah attack from Lebanon against the northern Israel, and they launched a preemptive strike. But it seems like last Sunday, they've had some sort of a cease fire agreement. They had some sort of peace talk, not peace talks, but like a talking containing the violence.
We're not quite sure if that's even going to hold. You know, this all began October 7th, when from the south, Hamas came against Israel, backed by Iran, and did tremendous damage, horrible things, atrocities, like of the worst kind. I talked to a friend of mine who's in Israel, and he said, you know, even the Holocaust was not as bad.
I'm not saying as immense. What he's saying is in those few hours of things that were done to women and children in those moments, he said, it was not like that. Of course, it was terrible, but it was not. And this is a Jewish person saying that. So what he's saying is this was terrible. And the world sort of downplayed that.
And then all over, he saw protests in support of Hamas. I mean, that's just, I don't get it. It's odd. It's very odd. And it's, it's really funny because a lot of times right now, people are leveraging attacks against us saying, you know, y'all are weird, but I think it's weird to support terrorist organizations and act like it's some sort of social justice. That's weird to me.
We shouldn't have to outline that. Like if you are protesting in support of a terrorist organization, there's a problem there. There are people who actually heard this, that Israel and Hezbollah are trying to contain this confrontation. And they're upset. Like Americans, they're actually upset that the violence isn't escalating.
There are people posting on TikTok saying, no, this is just going to delay it. Like Israel needs to get what's coming to them. And I'm like, when did, when did antisemitism become cool and trendy? I always thought that was a bad thing. It's been trendy a long time.
I mean, go back to Persia when, when, when Haman was trying to kill all the Jewish people. I mean, this was trendy then. It was trendy during the time of the Romans. It was trendy in the time of the inquisitions.
It was trendy, you know, even in this part, past century with what happened in Nazi Germany because of Hitler. So it's here and there, they show up again and it's terrible. And for anybody to find reasons to say compassionate or supportive words for some antisemitism is shocking, shocking to me.
It's terrible. So I think this, now Hezbollah is to the north in Lebanon and it's a different group, but they have the same mutual agenda, which is to destroy Israel. And you know, with Israel taking out one of the Hezbollah leaderships, Iran sort of said, well, coming after you. And then of course Hezbollah began its attacks and Israel knew or was aware of some large scale attack coming against Israel. Well, last time when they didn't do anything in October 7th, right, there was some warnings and they kind of sat back and waited.
It got really bad. In fact, just recently, some of the hostages who were freed, which is thank God for that, at least some were still alive. So they preemptively went after Hezbollah, took out a lot of their evil leadership and tried to, you know, thwart an otherwise terrible attack again from the north this time.
And it's crazy to me that people would have a problem with that. Like if someone breaks into my house and they threaten, not just me, but they threaten my family, like I'm going to take them out before they can do anything bad. Because I'm supposed to protect them. But I'm not going to sit back and be like, well, let me wait and see if they actually do attack. Well, they did.
I mean, in October 7th, they did. You know, the saddest part to me are the people, the average people, whether it's in Gaza or whether it's in Lebanon, who just want to live their lives in peace. And once in a while you see them where they break loose and they run to the camera and they get upset and say, you know, I was sick and tired of what these terrorist organizations are doing. And then you have a bunch of people run and grab them. Yeah, you got to backpedal them out of there.
And shove them out of there. And those are the people you feel for because they just want to live their lives and not get involved. But they don't have a choice because these thugs will do whatever they can to control the people. And they don't care about their own people.
They care. It's not even I don't even know if it's really an ideology. Honestly, I don't think it's not. It's about money and power. Right. 100 percent.
I think it's about money and power. That's right. So I agree.
100 percent. That's a wrap for today's edition of the Clearview Current. Thanks for tuning in and staying connected with us as we navigate this crazy world's events together. Until next time, keep your hearts lifted, your mind sharp and your spirit joyful.
And man, that's what we're going to do. Dr. Shah, today's verse of the day, kind of talking about this present darkness that we're seeing is actually coming to us from Isaiah, Chapter nine and verse two. It says the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light and those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death upon them. A light has shined.
What a hope we have. So that's a promise that was given about the coming of Jesus Christ the first time. And that's why, as the shepherds were in the field, the angels came and light shone around them and they were afraid.
And they said, do not be afraid. That's right. And the promise always appeals to me and really speaks to my heart where it says peace on earth. And that is what we need, peace on earth. And the source of that peace is Jesus Christ. That's right.
It's kind of funny because in the home, maybe not really funny, but it's interesting. I would say in the previous chapter in Isaiah eight, he says that people who have rejected God's revelation of his word, they're going to live in anguish. They're going to live in darkness and it's a darkness of their own making. But there are people, I would say even Christians, people who call themselves Christians who actually don't believe that there is no hell. There is no suffering. There is no damnation for people who reject you.
Every single person, regardless of whether or not they accept Christ, will go to heaven and be in the presence of God. Yeah. That's called universalism.
Well, we actually saw, I found a video that kind of sparked this. And this guy is actually preaching from a pulpit. He's leading a congregation and this is what he said. Everyone will ultimately be saved. Everyone will ultimately be embraced by the love and the grace of God. No one will be eternally damned or separated from God.
My friend Rob Bell asked a few years ago a question that was provocative. He said, does God get what God wants? And his answer and mine is yes. If God has the power to be God, if God is truly God, then God always gets what God desires. And the scriptures proclaim that God desires the entire world to be reconciled to himself. They say that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. They say that it's not the will of the Father that any would perish, but that all would come to repentance. And therefore, all will be saved. All will be reconciled to God. All will be redeemed.
All will ultimately confess and align their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Yeah. Wow. Sorry, listeners and viewers that you are subjected to that. Because it's nonsense.
Yes, it is. And it's wrapped up in logical fallacies that seem like, oh yeah, God gets what he wants. He wants everyone to be saved. Everyone's going to be saved.
Logical fallacies in sweet language. Without risking being like an ad hominem, but this guy is Brandon Robertson, who is, as Wikipedia says about him, a gay writer, activist, minister, and TikTok religious influencer. That's exactly what he is. Yeah. And he espouses a brand of progressive Christianity that is peddling universalism. That's exactly what that is. So this kind of shows the danger that we can fall into, especially with students and with young people, because a lot of this is wrapped up in social media.
And you take these little bite-sized clips that actually sound like if I saw that, if I didn't know any better, if I was just a young person with compassion for the world, all this stuff, bleeding hearts, I would see that and say, man, that sounds good. That's awesome. I love it. That's what I want to go. That's the church I want to attend.
And I want that to be true. I don't want anybody to go to hell. And I don't know that anybody else wants anybody to go to hell, but then you don't start looking at the bigger picture because nowhere in that TikTok is it says, this guy's a gay activist. This guy's an LGBTQ activist. This guy is purposely doing this kind of espousing, like you said. And so it's all just kind of hidden from us.
So we see these little bite-sized clips and we fill in the blanks ourselves. And there's some really harmful theology there. Oh yes.
Oh yes. You know, sometime back I did a message called death dethroned, subtitled hell. And in this message, I share some statistics about where people are with regards to hell. And according to the Gallup poll, which came out in 2023, only 59% of people believe in hell. That's insane.
That is incredible. Which is slightly more than those who believe in the devil, which is only 58%. According to the Pew research, which also came out last year, which is 2023, 72% of people believe in heaven, but only 62% believe in hell.
So you've got these two different polls going on and they are relatively same. And I guess more people believe in heaven because we want people to go to heaven, but no one wants people to go to hell. And so when asked why, what they thought people experienced hell in hell, they got all kinds of answers. 53% said that people experienced psychological suffering in hell. 53% also said that people become aware of the suffering they created in this world.
51% said that people experienced physical suffering. 49% said that those in hell cannot have a relationship with God. And 44% said that in hell, you can meet Satan. 44% said that in hell you can get to meet Satan. Here's Mr. Satan. You get to meet him.
Yikes. So all kinds of ideas about hell. Herman Baving, one of my favorite theologians, again, very Reformed, but people think I'm against Reformed theology. No, I'm against certain aspects of Reformed theology, just the way I'm against Armenian theology, kind of wholesale, against those kind of things. He said that the grounds on which people argue against the eternity of hellish punishment always remains the same.
And I'm giving you only three out of five points here. Eternal punishment is incompatible with the goodness, love, and compassion of God. Eternal punishment is incompatible with the goodness, love, and compassion of God and makes him a tyrant who takes pleasure in inflicting pain and torment and who prepares praise for himself out of the everlasting moans of millions of unfortunate creatures. So in other words, if this is what you hear all the time, if he's loving, how can he send anybody down?
Right, right. If he did that, then it doesn't fit his nature. You got the wrong God. It's so funny how people try to, just like this Brandon Roberson guy, they just try to create these little simple logical fallacies to try to trap God. I've seen one where it's like God is all loving, all knowing, or all powerful. He can't be all three.
You got to pick two. And it's like, because if he's going to send people to hell, then he's all powerful and all knowing, but he's not all loving. You can't love someone and send them to hell. That's right.
Yeah. Bavin goes on to give the second point here, but he says, eternal punishment is incompatible. I cannot say this right because there's too many e's in it. Eternal punishment is incompatible with the justice of God. Since it is unrelated and in no way proportionate to the sin in question, which however appalling is nevertheless limited and finite in character. It is inconceivable that God who is perfect love and supreme justice will punish human beings, even if they have sinned a thousand years with everlasting torment. So... Like the punishment doesn't fit the crime is what he's saying. Doesn't fit the crime.
Like how in the world can God do this forever? Because I said some white lies. That's what they'll say.
That's what they'll say. Gotcha. That is the pull the heartstrings argument. That's, you know, we want to appeal because God is loving and God is merciful. But God's primary attribute is not love. God's primary attribute is not like he's just all compassion.
God's primary attribute is his holiness. Absolutely. And we've got to be able to wrap our minds around that. But I think that's exactly it.
I'm trying to wrap my mind around it. So I'm taking it and filtering it through what I think justice is. What I think justice is, that doesn't compute. Therefore, it's not justice. What I've learned a long time ago is you can use the Bible to prove whatever you want.
If you try hard enough and if you kind of manipulate the hermeneutics a little bit and take away some principles of interpretation and shove this here and shove that there, you can make it say whatever you want to. Which is a chilling thought. Yeah. Oh, and it's been done. Oh, yeah.
It's been done 100 percent. And here's the third point that Bavinck gives us. He says such eternal punishment is also unimaginable and inconceivable. Scripture speaks of fire, a worm and darkness. But these are all images taken literally. They are mutually exclusive. So you're saying we have an inconsistent view of what hell is because it's described in so many different ways. No, no.
What Bavinck is doing is he's telling us how people argue against eternal punishment. Right. They say these are just images, guys.
They don't work. I mean, if you have if you on one hand, you have a fire, but then you don't have any light. How in the world? You know. Yeah.
To that I will answer. I mean, this is we even have fire here that doesn't have light. Right.
There is fire here that doesn't have a light that can still burn things. It just feels like I mean, they'll they'll say or do anything so they don't have to believe in hell. Yeah. Like, well, I'll jump through any hoop.
I'll jump through. I'll do whatever exercises gymnastics I have to do with interpretation so that I don't have to admit there is an eternal punishment. Right. And it seems like a lot of pastors these days don't preach on this. They won't they won't mention it. Or if they do mention it, they'll mention it in really flowery terms or really like, hey, let's not even go down that road. It's like they want to just avoid the positive side of things, because positivity is what attracts people. Don't you want to get them say, but be positive about it.
And I'm all for that because I think that needs to be there. The positive, the blessings of being a child of God, the blessings of forgiveness, a blessing of having a meaning and purpose in life and blessings of having eternity in the new heavens and new earth to enjoy forever. That's positive. But to say that that's all we're going to talk about and forget the negative aspect.
What do you do with the cross? Right. Yeah.
How does all this come about? Yeah. What is he saving us from?
What is what is the cross there for? Right. You know, if I need to be saved, but it's not like just a key to get in.
I'm being saved from something. Right. Right. Right.
It's it's the the cruelty of the cross, the punishment, not just the physical side, because that was nothing compared to the spiritual punishment he took, where he who knew no sin became sin for us. All this. This could have been done away with.
Yeah. God could have just said like Islam, you're forgiven. You know, that's what they say in Islam, that you don't need someone to die for you. God can forgive.
He doesn't need that. And my answer to Islam is your God is not holy enough. Yeah. Mm hmm.
That's a great point. You don't understand the holiness of God. It's perfection. It's it's it's ultimate holiness, which is not a single even speck.
You know, find find the the most powerful microscope. And even there, if you can barely see that little speck, that's too much. That's right. Because if God were to allow that, the entire universe would crumble. That's right.
That speck would grow. Yeah. It's his holiness that gives rise to all his attributes. And through his attributes, this entire world was created and sustained. That's right. So you're saying, oh, let's forget that God is able to do that.
No, that's at the core of who he is. Right. One of the things I like about your preaching specifically, it's not all fire and brimstone. It's not hell all the time.
We don't you know, it's not something that we like fixate on and focus on. Right. But I like the sense of urgency in your in your sermons and your preaching, because you made me think of that when you said that we a lot of pastors, they just want to be positive because people are willing to come to it if it's positive. But that presupposes that they have a lot of time to sit there and reflect on it and think on it.
But what if this is your last week on earth? And don't get me wrong. I get told that from people. Hey, I love church. Are you positive?
Are you positive? Because I don't want to go there and feel bad. Like a gentleman told me, you know, some time back, he said, I love to come to church, but you know, growing up, I used to go to this church.
And man, every Sunday you walk away feeling bad. And I don't know what to say to him. I was like, I understand. I understand. I said, you come to come to our church.
You will you will love what we have to say. I didn't say that we're not going to tell you about sin. Right. Right.
And all that. But I or hell. But I tried to say, come and maybe you'll hear something different. So I get it when people walk in and all of a sudden you start beating them over the head. But then to not have anything about the blood of Christ and his sacrifice on the cross and his death for us.
And if we don't receive him, that is hell everlasting. I mean, we don't have Christianity. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you're you're you're playing around and gambling with people's eternities. Yeah. You know, there's so much on the line that it's almost I feel like it's almost worth it for people to walk away feeling a little bad, a little bit rattled.
Yeah. Go all the way to the New Testament and say, oh, the gospels are kind of rough. Well, go to Paul's letter, Second Thessalonians one seven, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
These shall be punished with everlasting destruction. I mean, that's what it is. Oh, my goodness. What do you what do you I don't know what he is doing this this young man.
