That's BetterHELP.com slash positive. It all starts Thursday, April 27th at 7 p.m. Eastern until the first round ends, only on the FreeOdyssey app. 40 days and 40 nights from the point at which we heard Aaron Rodgers say on the Pat McAfee show that his intention is to play for the New York Jets in 2023. However, he was not in control of that move and remained a Packer for the next month plus until Monday. I'm telling you, it's uncanny not only the way that Brett Favre exited the Green Bay Packers and the timing and the details, but also the fact that every time I am here on the campus of Syracuse University teaching a class and then hosting a show, there's breaking NFL news. What could we be in store for next Monday?
So a week ago, it was Jalen Hurts and his enormous contract extension from the Philadelphia Eagles. And actually, Jalen was speaking on Monday. I'm not sure we'll get to it, but definitely we'll do it as part of the hump show if we don't get to it in this next hour. I'm trying to be better about not teasing a topic or audio when I'm not sure if I'm going to get to it because I beat myself up over that. When I tell you I'm going to do something, I don't do it.
Just so you know, it's something I'm working on. So Jalen Hurts sometime this week on After Hours talking about his new contract extension. So that was a week ago and we took a break in my class.
We go for about 90 minutes and then we take a break. And the students told me about Jalen's contract extension and same thing. A few hours ago, I'm in class, we take our break. It was actually a little bit later. We were closer to an hour and 45 because they were in the middle of presenting their homework, their assignments.
And they tell me they're looking at their phones, they're on Twitter or wherever else they're looking. And they tell me that Aaron Rodgers is headed to the New York Jets. Not a surprise, but at least it's finally done. So now we can start to officially move on. The draft will remain unscathed for now. Something else could happen to derail the attention for these top prospects. I got engaged.
That would just be the kicker, wouldn't it? It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence. I hear New York in the fall is very nice. You're listening to CBS Sports Radio on Twitter. A law radio also on our Facebook page. We're asking you. It's a simple question, really.
A very simple and basic query. Thoughts on the Aaron Rodgers trade. Now that it's done, you've had a long time to think about it. We actually went a couple of weeks at a time without mentioning Aaron Rodgers, other than to drop his some of his quirkier phrases and comments into our show. But we really hadn't given you anything new because the Packers and Jets had had kind of come to a grinding halt in their negotiations over the past couple of weeks.
But the report on Sunday was that the two sides were determined to try to get this done before the draft so that they could sail forward and know what they have, what they need. Yada, yada, yada. So on our social media, we're asking you. Oh, I didn't even retweet it myself.
What is wrong with me? I'm going to retweet it right now. A law radio.
We're asking you Aaron Rodgers to the Jets thoughts with a series of emojis and a GIF because it's always more appealing to those of you who use social if there's a GIF. I don't know if there's any scientific evidence to back that up, but we feel that that that's something that's supported with our social. For instance, when I share a photo of a turkey, you're more apt to believe the story that that was the turkey that was chasing me. It was, in fact, and he does have a blue head. I did not lie about that.
Speaking of my class on Monday evening, we were talking about theater of the mind and very often radio host can create a theater worthy experience by telling a story. So I decided that I would play part of my podcast in which I told the story of a turkey chasing me while I was on my training run. As I was listening back, and I don't live listening back to myself, but as I was listening back to myself, I realized that I mentioned more than once that the turkey had a blue head. Good thing I have photographic evidence to back that up.
He does, in fact, have a blue head. Anyway, my students and I'll take this as a compliment. We're rolling with laughter.
They were dying. I'm not sure it's because I'm a spaz or what, but they appreciated my storytelling abilities as much as it pertains to Tom the turkey. I don't know if they appreciate my basketball analysis any more than that. They also did say, Producer J, multiple members of my class said how much they love the turkey gobble drops. I was like, oh, that actually, that could have been the turkey for all you know, but we stopped with the mating calls.
I can't tell the difference. Those are the mating calls. We now know that this Jake turkey with the blue head believed me to be his mate for life.
He was looking for me to become a member of his family, so to speak. I'm looking for turkey war cries. War cries?
Did you actually Google turkey war cries? I did, and that's what I got, but that's a mating call. Yeah, I don't know.
Interesting. Okay, I think I'd rather listen to the owl. He's posted up in a tree outside my house now, and every night I hear him outside in the tree.
It's pretty amazing. I don't know the science behind owls picking one tree over another tree. Maybe he's finding some good hunting with field mice or rabbits. There's a ton of rabbits in my neighborhood. Maybe he just feels as though that's a great perch or the tree's higher or he likes the moonlight from that angle. But yeah, he's taken up residence in a tree just across the street from me.
It's pretty cool to hear him hooting at night. I like that better than the turkey gobble, but I mean, it was a really cool experience, and it made for a great story. What does it say about me as a radio host? That after I escaped with my life from a turkey that was chasing me, I managed to escape. I got away.
The turkey, even though he was right on my butt, he did not catch up to me. Okay. All right. Are you trying to steal my thunder here?
What does it say about me that after I escaped and my heart rate subsided to its normal... Well, I was running, so it didn't subside to normal, but after my heart rate stopped skipping beats, I immediately thought, ooh, this is going to be a great story for the radio. I mean, it was. It was. Thank you, Jay. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio.
All right. If you missed it, for those of you who are waking up early on the East Coast, you're trying to get those juices flowing, I highly recommend coffee. For those of you who did not see the end of the Grizzlies and the Lakers, this was one hell of a finish.
Really, it was good. From, I don't know, midway through the fourth quarter, maybe even stretching back all the way to the late stages of the third quarter. These two teams went back and forth. It was punch, it was counterpunch, and it came down to the wire in the very final second.
Still, nothing decided. James drives towards the right baseline, spins into the paint for cutting Rui Hatsumura. His dunk is blocked by Jackson. Lead out ahead to Marant. Marant gets to the window, drops for Bain.
He lays it up and in. John Marant saw the defense coming, dropped it behind his back to Bain. Marant is still down behind the basket. A beautiful feed in the Grizzlies lead by two with 6.7 seconds remaining. LeBron, top of the key with Xavier Tillman on him. LeBron drives to the rim, he's going for two, lays it up and in.
Less than a second remains. Timeout Memphis. Point eight remaining.
Point eight. A huge layup by LeBron. The ball given to Brooks. Brooks peering in, peering in, peering in. Gets it into Marant. Marant fires. Blocked by Davis.
Davis read it beautifully. LeBron James fired it in from three-quarter court. After the block, it would have won the game.
We'll go to overtime. Derek Hasseltine on Grizzlies radio interspersed with Jon Ireland on Lakers radio. And the reason why there was that, oh! At the end there is because after, I mean, Ja was a sitting duck. He goes up for a mid-range jumper and I don't even know if Anthony Davis jumped. Maybe a little bit, but his wingspan is so long. His arm is straight up in the air. He just swats the ball away. It goes into the back. Well, it goes behind Ja rather harmlessly. LeBron picks it up off the deck and heaves it. And it actually goes in, but it doesn't go in until after.
In fact, he didn't get rid of it until after the red light is on behind him. So it very clearly was a shot that did not count, but it was kind of dramatic to see it go in. And yes, into overtime. Now, the overtime was spicy for the first couple of minutes or so.
And then the Grizzlies missed out on a couple of opportunities. At this point, these two teams are sucking wind. I mean, they are exhausted. It was really a battle of wills. Maybe a battle of conditioning.
It was definitely a battle of experience. And we know in that category, by far, the Lakers have a huge edge. And so you get that fantastic finish to regulation. LeBron's dunk attempt gets blocked by the defensive player of the year, Jaren Jackson.
There's a fast break. Ja Morant is actually running across the baseline when he kind of flips the ball behind him, underneath his arm. And it goes to Desmond Bain for the layup. But then LeBron, with a second to go, he's aggressive. He gets his defender on his hip and he goes straight to the hoop.
I loved it. I loved the fact that those two shots in the late stages, neither one of them were three pointers. Were there three pointers that mattered?
Yes. D'Angelo Russell had a series of three triples in a row in the fourth quarter to bring the Lakers back to even so that we could get this fantastic finish. But I love that this game featured over 100 points in the paint. That appeals to my old school NBA loving heart.
So we go into overtime and, as I say, the two teams are sucking wind and the experience really mattered in that final period. Ten seconds to shoot. LeBron driving to the rim and in! Plus a foul!
LeBron flexing in front of the crowd and the Lakers lead 113-108. Nine on the shot clock. Morant, screen on his right from Tillman. Back to his left around the screen. Got bumped by Schroeder. Into the lane. Hangs for the floater.
Too strong. Rebound. Tap by Tillman. Loose picked up by Reeves. Reeves in the backcourt. Lakers can really work the clock down here. Austin Reeves makes this free throw, which he does. He's the leading scorer for the Lakers tonight.
Twenty-three points and that's your ballgame. Lakers 117. Grizzlies 111. Lakers lead three games to one in this best of seven series.
And we go to Memphis for game five on Wednesday with the Lakers having a chance to close it out. Eric Hasseltine, earlier on the show, so a couple hours ago, if you wanted to go back and grab the podcast, I asked him how the Grizzlies are feeling in this moment. And he went through a series of missed opportunities and wasted chances by this number two seed in the West.
Frustrating was one of the words that he used. But he pointed back to the injuries. He pointed back to the youth of the Grizzlies. They're still one of the youngest teams as a composite roster, one of the youngest teams in the NBA.
And that's why I come back to the wisdom and the experience. Yes, LeBron James at 38 years old. And he's also one of the best conditioned players in the league, too. Anthony Davis has been around a long time. I know he's missed significant chunks of time with injuries, but he's a veteran. You think about some of the other guys that they brought in when they did their retool or their reboot, if you will.
And they they mixed and matched hoping that it would work. But DeAngelo Russell, I'm not saying he's an old head. That's not the case. But this is his second stint with the Lakers. He's got, oh, gosh, I don't quote me on the six, seven years of experience in the league now. When you're looking at the roster, Dennis Schroeder that comes off the bench also brings incredible experience.
Thirty minutes for him to not only lead the bench in minutes, but also in scoring. They don't go deep. They play eight guys. But what they do have.
They bring a little extra. Mental edge to the game, the maturity to the game that the Grizzlies just don't have yet. And especially not with Steven Adams.
Being out. I think it's a huge disappointment for the Grizzlies. I was hoping that they would take a step forward and maybe springboard off of last year's playoff appearance. And while the series is not over. The way they played in L.A., two very different games, getting waxed in the opening quarter of Game three, where they're already trailing by 26 points.
It's nigh impossible to come back from that. But this game, too, missed opportunities. And you could really see it as you watch the game progress through the late stages. The Lakers would take advantage of those.
The experience that they were able to use. LeBron being primary to that. And by the way, neither Dylan Brooks nor Ja Morant. Cared to comment when the game was done.
It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. I don't care. He's old.
Right. That that old head that LeBron. Now, LeBron could say he's old. It's different when Dylan Brooks says he's old. And for sure, LeBron let his play and his impact do the talking.
But it is sort of funny that now the Lakers are up three games to one. And all of a sudden, Dylan has nothing to say. Oh, come on, man. Don't be like that.
I mean, that's always been me. No, no. Hold on.
I wasn't looking for LeBron yet. I was still talking about Dylan Brooks, but thank you. So Dylan Brooks said what he said. And he put it out there. And he won't apologize for poking the bear, so to speak.
He won't apologize. He's he's who he is. And I appreciate that.
OK. If you're comfortable in your own skin, if you're confident in who you are, if you believe that the trash talking and the yapping on the court not only give you an edge, but also similar to, say, Draymond Green, though he's better at it. It allows you to get under your opponent's skin or to to cause them to focus on you more than they're focusing on their craft. If you really do believe that's an advantage that you have and it doesn't take you out of your own game, then you can do it. But if you're going to talk when you win, you should talk when you lose. If talking is who you are, talking is your game, talking is your standard. Well, then you should talk regardless of whether you win or lose. So I'm disappointed in both Dylan Brooks and Ja Morant that somehow they didn't have anything to say. After game number four, it does speak to the fact that it's disappointing.
It's devastating, I think, to be on the ropes here when you had so many opportunities. And in case you're wondering, as rare as it is to have an eight seed beat a one seed in the NBA playoffs, if the Bucks fall to the heat, it'll be just the fifth time in history that an eight has upset a one. Do you know it's only happened five times in history that a seven has beaten a two?
And so we're looking at potentially not one but two teams out of the play-in tournament to survive. OK, so let's talk about LeBron. 22 points, 20 rebounds. He was all about the defense. He was all about being in the mix and wreaking havoc on the defensive end. We know he can do that. Throw in seven assists, a couple of blocked shots.
This was vintage LeBron. I mean, that's always been me. You know, whatever it takes for the team to be successful. You know, just trying to be as great as I can be offensively, but even more important, defensive end. And so that was kind of the mindset tonight. And I was able to make a couple of plays to help us be successful. He takes care of himself and, you know, puts the work in is a testament to, you know, what he does every night.
You know, a lot of people would say he's not supposed to make that shot. So we like it. We like it.
I like it. Austin Reeves talking about LeBron James. And at 38 years old, as much as, yes, he is, in fact, an elder statesman in the NBA. We know that he's also a unicorn in the way that he takes care of his body. So when he's healthy, meaning he doesn't have an injury, this is what he's capable of.
And here we go for Darvin Ham. This is not only the brink of history, but it's also coming together the way they retooled the roster. This is kind of what they had in mind. He's told them since day one, we want to be the most competitive together ballclub for 48 minutes or however long it takes. And today it took 53.
But again, I was just figuring out a way, finding a way. Everybody's pulling in the same direction. And shout out to the Memphis Grizzlies, man, a hell of a ballclub. Hell of a ballclub. We knew we were going to have our hands full with those guys facing the deficit. And so, you know, we had some moments in the game that weren't too pretty. But again, we just kept chipping away possession by possession. Didn't get discouraged. Didn't fall apart.
Again, had some unfortunate segments. But for the most part, guys came together and dug our heels in the sand when it came time to make the right plays. Competitive game. Didn't come up with some offensive rebounds that were, you know, crucial possessions late.
Obviously, you know, LeBron gets his right hand, which can't happen at the end of the game. So, you know, some breakdowns for us. One-on-one and shift defense. We didn't shift and they scored too much in the paint late in the game. You know, so, you know, very disappointing loss. Hear Taylor Jenkins say, very disappointing loss. And that's the word he uses.
I am, yeah, I'm maybe a little harsher. I know they've had injuries. I know that they are still very young. But man, you're still the two seed. You still had it set up for you. Not that it would have been easy against the Lakers and they're playing some great basketball. They've got a lot of momentum now. The jaw injury definitely hurt, but they wasted a 45 point performance from him in Game 3 and were not ready to play.
That one would be the one that I would continue to think about over and over again. So we're looking at maybe the two seed in the West and the top seed best record in the NBA. But the top seed in the East could be out in this first round. You know, the old phrase about how hockey is so much better. There's never any upsets in basketball.
La la la, you can set your watch by it. Maybe not this year. I say bring on the chaos, baby. All right, coming up, we'll get to your responses about Aaron Rodgers. Your deep thoughts hearing from some Packers fans, some Jets fans. A little more with Brian Guttenkuch who spoke before the trade was announced, but clearly knew that it was happening.
So it gives us some insight as well. And oh, have you all heard the rumors about another quarterback who was tapped as a starter last season, but could be on the move? It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on Twitter, A Law Radio, on our Facebook page too. Good morning to you from CBS Sports Radio.

The more we install, obviously we have a very dense playbook and I think he's done a really good job of understanding that playbook and going out and executing the way Kyle wants him to. While there might be a couple of interceptions here and there, turns out we're going against a pretty top tier defense. So I think it's really good for Trey to go against that and he's just getting better every single day.
The voice of George Kittle. Pro Bowl tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and that was a series of comments he made about Trey Lance. Now I suppose you could look back at what the Niners have gone through at the quarterback position over the past year plus really. Because Jimmy Garoppolo had had multiple injuries, we know that was kind of part of his story. And from Garoppolo to Trey Lance they went. And then Trey became the starter when the Niners thought they were going to move on from Garoppolo. Now it ultimately didn't happen last season, they ended up bringing him back for the one more year they needed him. Lance doesn't survive two weeks, Garoppolo's out there for I don't remember how long, seven, eight weeks. And then it becomes Brock Purdy's team until Purdy gets hurt.
It was really, it was just one of those situations where it's unbelievable. It was really unfortunate too for the Niners because they had a team that got all the way to the NFC championship. And whether or not they beat the Philadelphia Eagles with a healthy starting quarterback or a veteran starting quarterback we'll never know. But the fact that they still got to the NFC championship is kind of George's point. Is that it's not just the quarterback, he looks good, he's got a great skill set but we've got a team around him that can make him better.
Well that team at this point still has questions at quarterback. It's unheard of, I mean there's talk that Brock himself has indicated he might not be fully ready to play in 23. And while Trey Lance is reportedly on the right path to rehabbing and being ready for not just some OTAs but also training camp pre-season. The rumors persist, or shall I say the scuttling, the scuttlebutt, the conversations.
Nah, these are more back channel. The whispers persist that the Niners are attempting to trade Trey Lance and put all of their eggs in the Brock Purdy basket. And so John Lynch was addressing that in his pre-NFL draft presser. I think there's a lot of smoke really. It hasn't been extremely active and it's not like we've put it out there that hey we're taking offers for Trey call 1-800. That's not been the process.
People's job in this is to ask questions. Has that happened on a couple occasions? Sure, but it hasn't been that substantive and like I said we're focused as is Trey on his ability to compete and play an integral role on this team. Last year we needed five and so we value every single one of those guys and we're excited about our group.
We really are. Have these engines reached out to you about potentially moving him if he doesn't get an opportunity to play? No. I would love to know which teams have reached out, even to ask the question of how much would it take to trade for Trey Lance. I like the word that John Lynch uses substantive so that in other words there's not a whole lot of meat on the bone when it comes to the trade talks. And he believes that Trey Lance will be on the roster in 2023. He says Trey's healthy. He's trying to change his training so that he can be prepared for the rigors of a full NFL season. And John Lynch even went on to say if we were to ever change our minds about Trey Lance and actually be willing to trade him. It's going to have to be one heck of an offer and we haven't heard anything that's even remotely close.
It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Now Lynch also admits that he did talk to Trey Lance about it because there's so much of the whispering and the rumors and the speculation out there. They felt like it was important to set the record straight with Trey. But he goes on to say with Trey with Brock don't exactly know when Brock will be available to start football activities. But with Trey, Brock and Sam Darnold, they like their quarterback room. Let's hope they don't need all three like they did last year.
Christian McCaffrey, of course, was traded from the Carolina Panthers when the Panthers changed coaches and started to rebuild themselves. And he loves having Sam back in his locker room. Sam's great. He can do everything.
He can make any throw. He's smart. He's able to pick up things quickly and do his job. Doesn't play beyond anything and just does exactly what he's told all the time and then adds a lot of flair to it, too. I got the privilege to play with Sam.
Not enough. Unfortunately, I had some injuries, but he's another guy, too, who's just a gamer and he's tough as hell. He's played through a lot and never made excuses. So happy he's here. I like it. A ringing endorsement. A glowing review from Christian McCaffrey reunited with his former teammate, Sam Darnold.
I don't know. I don't know the best fit for the Niners. I need to see more of Trey Lance. We got such a limited sample size. I am sad for Brock because he stepped into that position so seamlessly as the former Mr.
Irrelevant. It was a dream come true for him and he approached it with such a great attitude. He used the personnel, the people around him. He didn't try to do too much.
He had the perfect approach to stepping into that role. I'm also rooting for Jimmy Garoppolo in his new role, too. This Niners quarterback situation, they've got to have some stability at some point, right? It can't go on like this forever.
Or maybe it can. I guess I could throw in a few fringes right now that seem to be stuck in quarterback purgatory. But the Niners have a team. They have a team.
They have leadership that can get them so close. Just need this missing piece. I don't like playing this game. You lie.
Okay, coming up. Thoughts on Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Chip on Twitter, ALawRadio responds with, The Patriots' chances just got worse in the AFC East. So I don't know if he's a Patriots fan or not, but coming from that New England perspective, he actually believes that the Jets with Aaron Rodgers are now better than the New England Patriots.
David on Twitter, I've been a Packer fan for 40 plus years. I'm glad the trade is done. Moved up two spots in the first round, a second round pick, and at least another second round pick next year. That's a win.
Oh, yeah. And $60 million off the books. All this for a guy who said he was not playing for the Packers again.
All right. That's from a Packers fan for a long time that just is tired. Too tired of what's been a constant narrative around Aaron. But also the fact that Aaron can be a lightning rod for attention. Now, some of it's self-induced, some of it not so much, but he gets so much attention.
He really can kind of suck all the attention out of a room, leaving very little for the actual team. It seems like in the last couple of years, I saw one on our Facebook page, too, from a Lions fan. It cracks me up. Mike on Facebook, I am forever grateful that Rogers last game as a Packer was a loss to my Lions. Did you know his last throw as a Packer was an interception similar to Tom Brady's last throw as a New England Patriot? Huh. All right. So you can weigh in thoughts on Aaron Rodgers finally to the Jets.

Donate today at your local CSL plasma center and be rewarded for your generosity. I think where our team is at, obviously, Aaron's up there in age and has, you know, however many years he has. I think he's got some really good football left in him. But I think for us, it was just as we got through the offseason and started talking about where we wanted to go, this made a little bit of sense for us. We wanted to get his input like I've told you guys in the past and would have loved to have that and kind of see where he sat with that. That didn't happen.
That was a little bit unfortunate and disappointing for me. But at the same time, I just think, you know, as we move forward, you know, we're really excited where Jordan can go. He needs to play. And having him sit another year, I think, would have really delayed kind of, you know, where we're going and what we're trying to build.
This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Jordan Cootes continues to indicate that the Packers wanted to have at least one more conversation with Aaron Rodgers, but that it wasn't something Rodgers and his camp were interested in, judging by their silence is what he's saying. It didn't happen. He told us that even going back to, oh, gosh, a month and a half ago maybe. So Rodgers' story is one version. Brian's is another.
Ultimately, that's part of the reason why this became a necessary breakup, a necessary divorce. And the Jets have to be over the moon excited. I cannot wait until we hear from Joe Douglas, the GM of the Jets, or Robert Sala, any of the Jets. The guys who went out there and burned cheeseheads in his honor, who is that? Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner, I think, if I remember correctly.
Maybe Breece Hall in there as well, three of last year's really good rookies, two of them rookies of the year. The Jets have got to be psyched. I know it's going to be jarring.
I mentioned this earlier. It'll be like Brett Favre in the Jets uniform. It'll be like Peyton Manning in a Broncos uniform. Tom Brady in a Bucs uniform. Going back a little further, Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform. It's always jarring and odd to see quarterbacks specifically, though not just QBs. I'm kind of sticking in the Aaron Rodgers realm, where different jerseys so late in their careers. We know that Rodgers is highly motivated to stick it, though. That was an awkward sentence. To stick it to those teams that he feels have slighted him.
I'm not a dumb jock. No, he keeps records. He keeps receipts. Isn't that what Robert Sala said last year?
We keep receipts on the people and the organizations that slight us. He did say that. He did say that. Aaron Rodgers keeps receipts. Oh, they're going to get along famously. Aaron Rodgers keeps receipts.
He does. The story goes about the 2005 NFL draft, so we're now coming up on the 18-year anniversary. 2005 NFL draft, it was either Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers to the San Francisco 49ers at the top pick. You now know, of course, that Alex went to the Niners and the world watched, including your host, as team after team after team after team picked a different position, a different player. Rogers sat there and he sat there and it was painful to watch.
He did not do the poker face thing. It was obvious how he felt. His blood was boiling.
He felt like it was a personal humiliation. Ultimately, Roger Goodell offered his private quarters, his private, I don't know if there was a room or not, whatever it was, his private area behind the scenes where the cameras couldn't find Rodgers and couldn't watch his reaction. But he has said more than once over the past 18 years that he never forgot every single team that bypassed him in that 2005 draft.
Maybe this isn't quite as dramatic, but I think it is. The reason that the Packers ultimately had to make this move, even before Aaron Rodgers indicated his wishes to play for the Jets in 23, we knew this is what the Packers wanted to do and in fact maybe even wanted to do it a year ago. But they also didn't want to shove their Hall of Fame quarterback out the door. Remember, he won back-to-back MVPs as he's reminded us multiple times he was the MVP of COVID in more ways than one. In both 20 and 21, those MVP awards were his.
Who can say that they won MVP of COVID? How do the Packers save any kind of face? So instead they just keep giving him a new contract and renegotiating contracts.
And I guess there's something to be said for Jordan Love progressing out of the spotlight, which he did. But the Packers desperately needed to move on. And while we may never know how tired they were of the same old rhetoric, or Rodgers putting them on blast, or some of the other narratives that come along with Aaron Rodgers, more so in the last few years. How many f***ing narratives? So many f***ing narratives.
Thank you, Aaron, for setting that up for me. It just became apparent that the Packers wanted to start fresh. But is this actually a rebuild?
That was a question posed to Brian Guttenkunst. The goals don't change around here. It's going to be the same goals we've always had, right? There's one goal here every single year, no matter what. And just like it was back in the last time, we moved on from one quarterback to the other, right? The goals are the same. And it's going to be on those guys to put in the work, and it's going to be exciting to see.
But yeah, nothing's really changing. That may be the concept in theory, and I certainly believe that based on the history of the Packers franchise. But it doesn't necessarily mean they won't have to take a few steps back to move forward, unless Jordan Love becomes the third consecutive quarterback that has a long tenure in Green Bay and provides stability and high level of play at that position. So some of your reaction from Facebook. Scott says, Now Rogers is the second worst quarterback in the AFC East. Joe says it's good for Dallas. I've actually seen this in many different places where you all are saying, I'm glad he's out of the NFC, glad that he's gone from the NFC.
So speaking from fans of that conference. Ken says he should have stuck with Jeopardy. No, he shouldn't.
There's a hell of a lot of money on the table to play quarterback. Why would he walk away from that? Let's see. Vic, I hope Jordan Love is afforded the same patience and courtesy.
I don't know. Rogers doesn't feel like he gets a whole lot of courtesy. Michael on Facebook, the Patriots are in trouble.
Dan says the Jets blew it again. Rogers is 40 years old. He ain't winning no more Super Bowls. And then Wayne, I don't see him making that big of a difference. The Jets need way more than a decent QB at best that is on his way to retirement. Others of you are predicting that Rogers will end up with the purple of the Vikings before long. I like this from a Bills fan, Jay on Twitter, ALawRadio. I love it. Josh Allen has a lot to prove.
Going up against one of the best quarterbacks in the league as a division rival will help push Allen to the next level. From Syracuse University, great show. Have an awesome Tuesday. Talk to you tonight. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio. Boom! Be rewarded for your generosity.
