The Spiritual Condition of America, Politics, Culture, and Current Events Analyzed Through the Lens of Scripture. Welcome to the Alex McFarland Show. You know, it's a great day when anybody comes to faith in Christ, people of all ages, but it's especially thrilling, I think, to see young people come to Christ. Hi, Alex McFarland here, and we're on the road. If you hear some echo or some ambient sound in the back room, the room's kind of hot.

It's because we're in a classroom in Florida. This is one of our summer youth camps, and we are at Laguna Beach in Florida. And we're at Laguna Beach Christian Retreat. And folks, it's hot outside. You can hear the pounding of the surf on the beach.

But let me tell you the best thing of all: we're having sessions. We're sharing the gospel, biblical worldview, apologetics with young people, and they are eagerly receiving it. And with me, I mean, there are a number of people, but my long-time friend, you've met him before, his name is Carl Kirby. He is the founder and leader of Reasons for Hope, now in its 15th anniversary. He is an author.

On the internet, and we'll hear where we can find these. He's produced over 30 debunked videos, you know, common objections to the Christian faith, debunked. And they are world-class. But one of the things I love about Carl Kirby, we've had the privilege for a number of years to partner in our summer camps. And you hear me on the radio promoting these, kids from all over the place.

In fact, here in Florida, there's a youth group from Tennessee that I was at a pastor's conference in Tennessee last fall, and I just mentioned that we do these camps to equip young people to defend the Christian faith. And so this youth group from Tennessee, it's their first visit to an equip camp. But we pulled away for a little while. Just the kids are out playing volleyball and being in the sun. And I wanted to sit down, as I love to do throughout the year, and catch up with my colleague in apologetics ministering to America's youth, my great brother in the Lord, Carl Kirby.

He's with us now. Alex, you are such a blessing. I count it a privilege to be able to do these things because we have seen. Just amazing outcomes. You and I, when we go and look back at the number of young people that have made commitments to the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's not a small number. And so thank you for being a part of it. Thank you for allowing me to partner with you. And may the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless us as we reach out to this younger generation.

Well, indeed, I mentioned a testimony I was in Abilene, Texas, just two weeks ago, and a young man and his wife came up to me, and his name is Ty. He said, Mr. McFarland, do you remember me? I came to summer camp eight years ago. And I said, I'm sorry, I don't remember you.

That's been, you know, eight summers, dozens of camps, and several thousand teenagers ago. And he said, well, I want you to know I accepted Christ at your camp. I came back. I began to grow in the Lord and felt the call to ministry. He said, I'm a full-time pastor at a great church there in Texas, now married, building a Christian young family.

And listen, I know you concur, Carl. We give God the glory. This is what it's all about. But, you know, the Bible tells us that we are to pass the baton to the next generation, if you will. And You know, I feel like not only as ministers, but every single Christian, we've got to be raising up that next generation of champions for Christ.

Amen. I mean, I've always taken the approach that I need to train myself out of a job. Like, I love coming up with new things, creative things, but then what I want to do is I want to find somebody that has the skill set that is much better than mine that I can pass it on to, encourage them a little bit, and watch them take it to levels that I could never, ever dream of.

Now, I got one story. It's not like I'm trying to top yours, because not trying to top each other, but you just so encouraged me with yours. We, well, I was, I was just speaking up in Illinois at the Christian Homeschool Educators, right? Itchy, I-C-H-E, Illinois Christian Home Educators. I was like, man, you guys need a new name.

Itchy's not too good. But anyway, so I'm up there, and I had this lady come up to me and she said, Do you remember speaking in my parents' basement? And I was like, Who are your parents? And she told me, and I said, Oh, yeah, I do remember them. Very sweet people.

And she said, Yeah, we. I was 16 at that time, and I remember that. And I wanted to introduce you to my 15-year-old daughter, who I brought to hear you speak. Thanks for making me realize just how old I am. And I've had that happen a number of times now.

So it's a praise that. Yes, what we're doing is working, it is impacting people, and now we have parents that are bringing their children to here. And that is mind-blowing.

Okay, I got one for you. And folks, if you're just tuning in, Alex McFarland here, along with my dear beloved brother, Carl Kirby, Reasons for Hope. But I'm going to say late January, February of this year, 2026, I was preaching at a church. And people in the vestibule after the service, good to meet you, nice to see you.

So there's a lady and her husband and a child. And she said, Mr. McFarland, you won't remember me, but you brought Josh McDowell to Greensboro, North Carolina. I was 13, and I came forward and I got saved. You and Josh were on the stage at the end of the night explaining the gospel.

I'm 13, and I went forward. I accepted Christ. This is my husband, our daughter. And I was like, wow. She said, I've always wanted to find you again and thank you that you at an apologetics conference.

She said I was thirteen. She goes, I'm 43 now. And my wife laughed at me, and she was just laughing. I was like, well, you know, praise God. The Bible says fear of the Lord brings length of days.

And listen, I want to say to everybody, you know, people are always, our culture's obsessed with, you know, fighting aging and stuff. Augustine, really smart Christian apologist of 1600 years ago, he said the soul doesn't age. The real you.

Now we've taken, I've taken sixty-two rides around the sun. That's how I like to think of it. Am I flattering myself? It's not that we're getting so old. We just, again, this precise solar system, we just took one more ride around the Sun.

Yeah, and I've taken a few more than you, but I'll tell you. But you know, to me, what I'm absolutely shocked by, because I think we have a culture that thinks, oh, this young generation, they're looking for cool and hip. I don't see that. I genuinely see a generation that's looking for real and authentic.

Somebody that's willing to look them in the eye and just be as straight as possible because we are out, you know how we are here. Man, we are covering very tough topics, but we're straightforward. They know that we love them and we shoot us straight. And I'll tell you, today to me was a special day, Alex, because we had young Mr. Jackson stepping up and giving a message.

And this is what I want our equip retreats to be. This is a training ground. This is an equipping ground. This is a launching pad.

So, honestly, next year, I really, Dr. Alex, I really want us to have a segment where you want to be a future communicator. You bring your presentation, you bring it, bring a five-10-minute presentation. We're going to listen, then we're going to critique you because I think that this is what we have to do: to pass that baton to train that generation to make them comfortable because. Yeah, was he nervous?

You could tell his chest was tight, but he got up and he did it. And praise God, brother. That's what it takes, is people that have that gumption to step out because you got that gumption, you're going to get better. You know, Carl, that's right. Yeah, so I think he was 15 or maybe 16.

He asked if he could bring a sermon. There's a call of God on his life. And I was just thinking, like you, next summer in our camps, for the young people that are already at 15, 16, 17, they're already sensing a call. We need to do some public speaking classes and how to prepare a sermon. And do you know, that's been one of my great joys traveling.

And listen, I'm simply the product of some great people that invested in me, Josh McDowell among them, the late Dr. Harold Wilmington and several others, and some that you're not going to meet folks till you get to heaven. The late Dr. Pat Cronin, I was his youth pastor in the 90s in Greensboro, North Carolina. I learned so much from that man.

But you know what? We're going to come back. We've got a brief break. We're going to talk about Carl Kirby. Folks, don't underestimate yourself.

You can do more to represent the Lord, shape lives, influence people. More hangs on your life than you could possibly imagine for the glory of God.

Now, we've got to take a break. We're going to come back. More on the road, reaching youth. Carl Kirby, our guest on this edition of the Alex McFarlane program. Fox News and CNN call Alex McFarland, a religion and culture expert.

Stay tuned for more of his teaching and commentary after this. Mike Segovi here, producer of the Alex McFarlane Show. Here's Alex talking about prayer. You know, folks, our nation needs a spiritual awakening so desperately. We need the Holy Spirit of God to sweep across this nation, and prayer is the key.

Please, if you would, go to alexmacfarland.com/slash united in prayer. We'll send you a weekly devotional. We'll help your family, your church start praying with power. Alexmcfarland.com/slash united in prayer. He's been called trusted, truthful, and timely.

Welcome back to the Alex McFarlane Show. Welcome back to the program. Alex McFarlane here, along with Carl Kirby, and we're having a blast just sharing Jesus with these young people. But let me encourage all of you: no matter where you live, maybe you're in a big city, maybe you're in heartland America, maybe you're out in the country, you know, or maybe you're a church, a smaller church in a city. Let me encourage you to build a youth ministry and encourage biblical worldview content.

You know, I was, Carl, I was in a place called Camden, New Jersey. And Phil and teens with the very same vocabulary and content when I'm teaching in a grad course in a seminary, a girl comes up in Camden, New Jersey, and she said, Mr. McFarland, thank you. I said, okay, you're welcome. What did I do?

And I'm going to quote. She said, thank you for treating us like we have some brains, some intelligence. And I said, well, you do have intelligence, and I know you do. I've been On the trail a little bit longer and maybe just sat under more teaching, but I don't underestimate your intellectual capabilities. And here's what she said.

She said, I think a lot of the grown ups think that we're just Mush heads, and we can't get it. But she said, We want the meat, and we are ready for it. Carl, do you think that sentiment speaks to where many teens are today about spiritual issues? We can say without a doubt that's where they are just because of what we're doing. Again, what have we covered so far at this equip retreat, right?

We have covered topics such as, well, God says he created, but the world says nothing created.

Well, let's take Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss, let them explain their position, and let them talk. It's not like cherry-picking little quotes out. We take a segment of them on stage telling people how you get something from nothing, and we bring in technical people. Here's what they say. Alexander Villikin says this, Peter Etkin says this.

Let them talk. Richard Dawkins says it, boom. And then we address it. And the kids absolutely can understand it. If you think that the younger generation isn't looking for that, and because I've heard this, I literally, this is a true story.

I had a parent come to me. I was speaking at the church on Sunday because we were going to the camp on Sunday night to start, you know, and then Monday. And she said, so what are you guys going to talk about? And I said, we're going to address things like creation. And evolution, we'll address things like: can you really trust the Word of God?

How did we get the Bible? Isn't it just, you know, they came together and they voted on which books to put in the Bible? You know, all those kinds of things, the things that we've still covered to this day. And she looks at me dead straight and she says, oh, please don't do that. I said, what do you mean?

She said, my daughter will be calling me on Tuesday. come home. And I told her, I said, ma'am, I don't think that will happen. And we have never had anybody want to leave. As a matter of fact, we do three teaching sessions every day.

Then we have a QA session. And then many times we'll bring in where we have special friends that will stop by for something. We'll have even more where it's like it's a voluntary thing and we never get any problems having the kids coming back.

So it's an absolute total lie that younger generation doesn't care about important things. You just need to be able to communicate it in a way that makes sense. And let's be honest, we do need to have a little bit of that entertainment factor in there, have some fun with it, and show that you have passion about the topic. You know, one of the camps that we did that I got to get you there, but in North Carolina down east, we have definitely brothers in arms. His name is Sammy Hudson.

He runs a fantastic camp called The Refuge. And we've done several summer camps there, and I was there about. three weeks ago. End of the week, I had kids saying goodbye. I've had a blast.

Oh, I feel so confident in my faith. And one young man, you know, we had a hug. He said, Can I please come with you to the next camp? And I said, Well, maybe next year I got to go to several places, but your parents are going to be here. He said, You know, I'm learning so much, I just don't want this to end.

Now, had we done another week, this kid would have stayed. And so, I really think in youth ministry, and hey man, I've been in youth ministry since 1989 and have no plans to exit. You know, I speak to more teenagers annually than I was doing 20 years ago.

So it's not age, but they are hungry and we try to create the substance in a digestible way for them. But I want to say to everybody listening, and then Carl, I'll throw it to you, especially after the death of Charlie Kirk, I mean, that was kind of a turning point. There is spiritual hunger. They want to know who God is. They want to know how I can read the Bible for myself.

What can I know about Jesus? And is this thing called salvation really real? And, Carl, I believe that America's youth are wanting something they can. Ultimately, give their life for, and that is the gospel of Jesus and the biblical worldview. You know, I was blessed to be able to do two conferences with Charlie Kirk and had dinner with him and we were supposed to be at another one the year that he was murdered.

And it was a very interesting thing that that occurrence absolutely had an impact and not just on younger generation. I've even seen a lot of mature people that had never heard of him. Never heard of them, and then all of a sudden they start. What's this all about? They start watching some of those videos and start coming.

And I've had those encounters with those adults that are like, This is important. They're like, yes, it is. And your youth are seeing that as well.

So I would just encourage folks. You don't have to have a PhD to talk about these things. That's to me, that's one of the number one attacks that I'll get.

Well, where'd you study science? Where did you get your PhD? And I'll respond with, I have two honorary doctorates, so I don't claim them. They knew I was not smart enough to get a real one, so they felt sorry for me and gave me a couple of those. But here's the reality: it doesn't matter where I studied.

What I'm saying is, is it true? Does it align with fact and reality or not? And so we have to be able to speak the truth boldly with love, meekness, and fear. And when you do that, and if you study enough to know what you're talking about, Truth is truth. It just resonates and people can see it when you lay this out here.

This is what the world says. Here's what the Word of God says. Here's what we actually see in the world around us.

Now make an informed decision. That's my approach, especially with this younger generation. You're being taught this.

Well, this is what it says. Here's the extension of that if you follow it down the line. Here's what the Word of God says. Take a look at what we actually see now. Do you feel so comfortable in the fact that nothing can turn into something to blow up to become everything that we see?

That an amoeba can turn into a worm to grow legs, to crawl out of the land, to become an amphibian, to turn into a rat, to turn into a wolf, to go back into the ocean to become a whale? You think we got a problem? Brother, take a look at the opposite side before you start giving up on God. What do you feel like is the number one argument against Darwinian evolution? I mean, if you could only throw one thought out there for the person who just glibly says, well, you know, didn't Darwin refute the Bible in 1859?

What is kind of your prime response to that? Boy, that's tying my hands, because there's so many. If you want to go just specifically with Darwin, I would say even the evolutionists are going to tell you that. Charles Darwin had absolutely zero zilch nada to do with getting something from nothing. What Charles Darwin had everything to do with was coming up with a mechanism to explain how you can start with something and it can change over time to turn into something else.

So you have to define your terms. And this is what I do with them. What do you mean by evolution? Do you mean that you can start with two people and get all the different looking people that we see today? If that's your definition of evolution, I agree with you because God says we go back to one man and one woman.

But if you're telling me that evolution is nothing turns into something to turn into something else, now that's where even the secular science will tell you. Richard Dawkins, we let him talk. We don't have an answer to that. Because there is no answer on how you get life from non-life. There is no answer how nothing can turn into something unless, and Alex, this is the thing, I think we really have to look at this one.

The only way that Satan wins is to redefine words. You know, oh, we can get something from nothing. Oh, really? Go look at the definition for nothing. They now have three different definitions for nothing.

And every one of those definitions for nothing are something.

So to me, if you're telling me that Darwin proved evolution, what do you mean by it? And if it's diversity within a kind, I will agree with you. But if it's something from nothing, you are absolutely wrong. And that's not Carl Kirby. That's reality.

And you know, the genetic potentiality, I mean, when a child is conceived, I was reading the other day about, you know, between all of the attributes of a human body, stature, height, eye color, hair color, there's so many billions of billions of potentials. And they estimate that maybe I was just reading yesterday, maybe, maybe in all of history, somewhere between 80 and 170 billion humans have ever lived. And the genetic potentiality from a single male-female pair is like 10 times that.

So, I mean, it's all in the DNA, really.

Now, we've got to pull away. This is Alex McFarlane along with Carl Kirby. We're going to come back for a third segment, apologetics, defending the faith, passing it on. to the upcoming generation. Stay tuned.

Fox News and CNN call Alex McFarland, a religion and culture expert. Stay tuned for more of his teaching and commentary after this. Producer Mike for the Alex McFarlane Show, listen to this. Alex is the Christian voice we need right now. I love listening to him, and the guests he has on the show are just amazing.

I highly recommend his podcast. Great words, Alex.

Well, we give God the glory. We thank the listeners for kind sentiments like that, but we give God all the glory. But, folks, please listen in, spread the word. You're spreading the gospel. Tell others about our programming, and we sincerely thank you.

Yeah. He's been called trusted, truthful, and timely. Welcome back to the Alex McFarlane Show. Welcome back to the program. We'll resume our conversation with Carl Kirby in just a moment.

But October 3rd, we have two former Muslims, one Shia, one Sunni, that will be coming to talk about how to reach Muslims and why the rise of Islam in Sharia is a problem, a big issue that not enough people are talking about.

So go to alexmacfarland.com and look at the events page. You can see my speaking tour, find out where I am. I want to meet you when I come very soon to a city near you. And you know, our camps, our conferences, our events, and they're free, by the way, these conversations that matter, but it takes money to deliver the gospel message. We're on the radio seven days a week.

We're on television seven days a week. We're shipping out thousands of pieces of literature every year. Postage just went up. Folks, thousands are coming to Christ. Talking about God and country.

It's very necessary. Would you partner with us in calling this generation to the gospel of Jesus Christ and patriotism and helping save our country by winning the soul of our country? You can give securely online at alexmacfarland.com, or you could mail a check if you would, P.O. Box485Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, 27313. 485, Pleasant Garden, spelled just like it sounds.

North Carolina 27313, and for standing with us and helping us. Take the message to the ends of the earth. I thank you.

Well, somebody who's doing that as well is my friend Carl Kirby. And before the break, we were talking about DNA and the complexity. Carl, you can elaborate on this, but I really think evolution's in trouble because it's just undeniable the complex encrypted data that is in DNA. And we talk about humans, we haven't even talked about plant and animal life. Is it maybe a somewhat concealed secret, but science of every discipline is having to come around to the truth that this complex world all around us could not have popped out of thin air?

I put it like this: that what we see in the world is consistent with what we read in the Word. It is not consistent with nothing turning into something, slowly, gradually turning into everything that we see. And so, when we start learning to look at the evidence from that biblical perspective, it's interesting. You'll see articles come out. Like this one just came out yesterday, and it says this: Science thought the human lifespan was 122 years.

A new model says we could live decades longer. There's another guy that I've read many times that there's a whole field of study that they are studying the human DNA because they say there's a gene that if they can turn it on, we're going to live thousands of years, healthy years, right?

So, the question is, why do we die so young? Because our body's constantly regenerating itself, replacing and fixing itself. But there's a certain point when that starts breaking down and quitting.

So, now our days are numbered to what they say is 120 years, 122 years.

Well, guess what? Here's the way that I like to flip that on its ear: if God's word is true, should we find within the human body the capability to live long ages? And the answer is. Absolutely, because when God created man, they were supposed to live forever, but they didn't. Why?

Because the wages of sin is death, physical, spiritual, bang, they happen because of man's sin. And so we see early on where there were long lifespans, but then after the flood, we see a very dramatic drop in the number of years. Our days are numbered.

So you should, if God's word is true, you should find the capability to live long ages inside the human body. It's there.

Now, God's the one that turned that switch off, and no man is going to be able to turn it on. But let's flip it on its ear. Let's go to the evolutionist who says, well, give it enough time, right circumstances, we got here. If incestuous apes. Ape-like ancestors, I should say, that have both common human and ape ancestry DNA, those incestuous apes.

procreating, turning into man. Should we find the capability to live long ages inside of that? No, that's you're talking a mess. You know, people want to make fun of Christianity because we believe of the historical account that God gave us in His Word. Go look at the option, man.

Their position is even worse. Incestrous apes turning into intelligent humans? No, that's absolutely ridiculous. And just the fact that we can see from the complexity of the DNA, the ability to live the long ages, those things should be there if God did what he said that he did. What is entropy?

Entropy is just the breaking down. Things are breaking down, and that's what we see in the world around us. Prior to fall, we didn't have that. And it came as a consequence of man saying, no, thank you, God. We can make the decisions from here.

Thank you for what you've given us, but we'll take over from here. We can determine what truth is apart from God. And then things started breaking down because of man's sin, and that's what we see. I believe in the global worldwide flood, by the way, Carl, for a lot of reasons. Maybe we need to do a show on that.

Do you feel like after Genesis 3, the fall, You know, Adam and Eve had to wear clothes, and the aging process, it's really the second law of thermodynamics, really, that things are running down. Did the flood and the immediate aftermath of the flood intensify the rate of entropy? I believe that it would have because now the environment is changing. It would have been a gradual process, and that's why I say definitely flood was where it was a very dramatic process. A lot of people, there's all kinds of speculation on it, and that's what it really is, this speculation.

But it does make sense that after the flood, there were dramatic changes. After fall, dramatic changes, but then after the flood, even more dramatic changes as well.

Well, you know, Jesus gives us a new soul. And he can give us a new body. I guess being in the the ministry and a couple of times I've pastored and it's just I suppose an occupational hazard. I do a lot of funerals. And I tell you, you know.

When Paul says we grieve, but not like those who have no hope, Carl, isn't there the great promise that if a person dies, a believer, we're with Jesus, we get a glorified body, there's going to be no more sickness, no more death. In fact, Christ Himself will dry every tear from our eye. Here's the thing: last thought, I'll throw it to you. The evolutionist has blind faith in an upward. journey that we've never witnessed.

We the Christians, we have solid faith in a risen Jesus that not only saves our soul, renews our mind, Romans 12, but one day he gives us a brand new body. That's the power of God, not blind hope and evolution. Oh, absolutely. I use this illustration with the young people a lot. It's like, you know, well, all you have is faith.

And the Christians are blind faith. You know, no, no, no, no. Blind faith. Biblical faith is not blind faith. I put it like this.

God told us what he did, when he did, why he did, how he did.

Now, we can take those things and we can go to the world that we live in. And what we see in the world around us, is it consistent with what we read there? Or is it consistent with nothing turning into something as we've talked about, right? And so I'll put it like this. My wife and I, right, we've been married for 44 years.

And if my wife tells me she is going to do something, do I know that unless she has a major accident or dies, she's going to do it? And the answer is, absolutely. Yes. All right.

Now, I tell my wife that I'm going to do something. Does she absolutely know that I'm going to do it unless I have a major accident or die? And the answer is no. She knows I am going to ADD it. There's going to be something shiny that comes along.

Squirrel, I'm gone, right? God Is better than my wife. He's told us what he did. We can trust it. Do you know?

I tell Angie, I say, Look, if I say I'm going to do something, you don't have to ask me every six months for three years. Mine's more like every 60 seconds, brother, because I am so bad. It's not intentional, but I just start getting going and something.

So, biblical faith, friends, it is rock solid, is built on something where we have historical accounts from the only one who's always been there, who knows what happened, who told us what happened, who we can trust. And when you do that and then go and apply that to the world that we live in, oh my goodness, what we see screams that God did what he said that he did the way that he said that he did it. Folks, that's my friend Carl Kirby. You've got to watch the debunked videos. Just drop what you're doing.

Go watch these videos. Carl, give us your website and where they can find these. They are excellent, world-class debunked videos.

Well, thank you for the plug. Yes, you can go to get debunked.com. Mm-hmm. That's the website. You can go to YouTube.

You can find them on YouTube. Easy, easy way is to download our app. It's absolutely free. Just look for R F O R H on your Google or Android or whatever those. I don't do those.

I'm a Mac guy.

So go to your app store. You'll find it there: R F O R H or Reas for Hope if you want to spell it all out. And you'll see the tab, one of the tabs in there is debunked. And under debunked, you'll find the debunked videos, all 30 of them. The last one we just did was Dinosaurs Disprove the Bible, debunked.

The next one coming out is Flat Earth. Flat Earth is reality debunked. Trust me, we're going against that. And that's a biggie. I can't understand.

We're still talking about that. But anyway, so there's all of those on there. Then there's debunk TV. There's three seasons of that. The co-creator, myself, where we flush out 30-minute programs, flushing out the arguments that are used in there.

Because to me, the videos are nothing more than a tool for you.
