Martin Luther was born to a family of peasants in 1483 and was baptized the next morning. He learned discipline from his parents and went on to study law, but his heart was not in it. He became a monk and later a priest, but his views on salvation and the church led him to write the 95 Theses and challenge the authority of the Catholic Church. He was excommunicated and went into hiding, but continued to write and preach, eventually translating the New Testament into German and marrying a nun. He died a natural death at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy as a key figure in the Protestant Reformation. [... more]

The Bible teaches that grace is a free gift, based on God's own wise and righteous choosing, and that it causes us to respond in humility and praise. Understanding God's grace is essential for a proper understanding of salvation and the Christian life. [... more]
