The doctrine of becoming a god, known as Theosis, is a concept that has puzzled Christians for centuries. While the Eastern Orthodox Church teaches that humans can become like God through divine love and the incarnation, the Mormon view of Godhood is fundamentally different. In Mormonism, humans can become gods through an infinite regression of gods, which is not a Christian teaching. The distinction between the uncreated and created is a key aspect of Orthodox theology, whereas in Mormonism, humans can become gods by essence.
