The Bible teaches that pride is a spiritually devastating condition that can lead to self-destruction and harm to others. Jesus demonstrated humility in redeeming us, and we are called to follow his example. A prideful church leader, Diotrephes, is described in 3rd John as having five symptoms of pride: egotistical motivation, unteachable mind, disgraceful mouth, inhospitable mannerism, and inflexible method. We must be aware of these characteristics in ourselves and others and strive for humility and spiritual growth.
